House md is such a trip because House and Wilson are standing cock to cock, tip to tip, packer to packer, emotionally and physically. House's employees have a polyamorous codependent relationship while also being at each other's throats constantly. Foreman's so represssed they think he's gay, Chase is so sexually active that he can't possibly be straight, Taub and Kutner scissored, Cameron's probably gay but she has a job to do so she isn't going to think about it too hard, Thirteen is bisexual and went to jail once. Everyone has used drugs recreationally at least once. They break into everyone's home then insult the state of their home and then diagnose the patient based on a "That's so Raven" vision that House has. They shouldn't have been doctors, they would all thrive better as Waffle house employees that leap over the counter to fight customers.

If House came out in the 2020s there would absolutely be an episode where House steals a vape from a teenage patient with the intent of mocking them and ends up getting really into it. Cuddy tries to stop him from vaping in the hospital but it turns out there’s a loophole in the anti smoking rules that mean e-cigs aren’t technically banned.

While Cuddy is on a mission to fix the rules, House is collecting the grossest, sweetest vape flavours he can find. Foreman’s pissed because House keeps blowing smoke in his face, Chase finds this really funny and Cameron is unsuccessfully trying to stage an intervention. Wilson just puts his hands on his hips and asks that House refrains from vaping in front of his lung cancer patients.

Somehow the episode ends with the reveal that cotton candy vape juice was the only thing keeping the patient alive and House’s vaping habit was actually genius medical research. Cameron and Wilson are relieved House doesn’t actually have a new addiction. Episode ends with House taking one last puff of his vape and then going to put in it the bin before reconsidering and pocketing it. This is never brought up again

think the great thing about house md is that the characters really are just like that, not even exaggerated. house does not shut up about sleeping with wilson even though he claims they’re just bros, foreman complains about medical malpractice while stealing bone marrow and switching thirteens’s placebo, cameron marries a dying man and then sleeps with chase after she’s been on meth. then they sleep together again because they’re bored of watching their patients sleep patterns. chase is a blonde australian catholic, he’s one of the best surgeons in the hospital, he also kills a dictator. wilson is just some guy who’s been arrested before. he loves monster trucks, he’s had three failed marriages, he’ll give out his organs and blood at any given moment. something so wrong with them all but i love them very much.

early seasons of House MD are so precious to me. House shifts between being prickly and doing soft little things because he hasn’t refined his persona into a suit of armor yet. Cuddy manages to be gorgeous in the most dubious pantsuits imaginable, Wilson is written like a two-dimensional female side-character who’s only there to show cleavage (aka cheekbone) and then leave. Foreman is ready to fistfight House on his very first day of work and Cameron still thinks she can change the moral trajectory of everyone around her through sheer perseverance. Chase is there to be Australian and have Catholic issues and daddy issues and malpractice issues and blackmail issues.
