Pick One: Magical Girl Show or Rom-com. You cannot be both.
Early in season four we get the episode Gang of Secrets. An episode that ends with Marinette outing her secret identity to Alya. A touching moment that sparked outrage across the fandom because it meant that Marinette had made the choice to reveal her identity to her best friend while keeping her hero partner in the dark.
This choice spat in the face of the exceptions that many fans had for the series. Thousands of pre-season-four fanfics feature moments where Ladybug and Chat Noir promise each other that they'll be the first to know each other's identities. After the Alya reveal, scores of fanfics were written to salt on Marinette's choice to tell the "wrong" person.
Most of these fics feature a betrayed Chat Noir quitting or otherwise punishing Ladybug for breaking their promise to be each other's first, thereby destroying his faith in their partnership. But that promise was never made on screen. It only existed in the realms of fanfic and, when Chat Noir finally found out in canon, his reaction was largely neutral. He never once blamed Ladybug for her choice or pushed for a reveal or even asked for the right to tell one of his friends.
So what happened here? Why did the fans have such wildly unrealistic expectations of canon? Were their expectations even unrealistic or did canon betray them? The answer to that is not as straight forward as you might think because it all comes back to one of Miraculous' many, many, many writing problems: Miraculous is trying to be both a Magical Girl Show and a romantic comedy, but those are not genres that mesh. You can only be one (or you can be a third thing that we'll get to at the end as it's the easiest way to fix this mess, but I want to mostly focus on where the anger is coming from and why the writing is to blame.)
To discuss this mismatch, we're going to do something that breaks my heart and talk about some of Origins flaws. While I love that episode and unironically refer to it as the best writing the show ever gave us, it's not perfect and its flaws are all focused around trying to set up both genres. Do note that I'm going to use a lot of gender binary language here as magical girl shows have a strong focus on gender segregation and rarely if ever acknowledge gender diversity.
Let's Talk Magical Girls
Magical girl shows are shows that center on young women and their friendships. While male love interests are often present in these shows, the boys tend to take a backseat and function primarily as arm candy while the girls save the day and carry the narrative.
A great example of this is the show Winx Club. This show features a large cast of teenage girls who save the magical universe from various threats with their magical powers. Each girl has a love interest, but the boys are usually off doing their own thing and only occasionally show up for a date or to give the girls a ride on their cool bikes or magical spaceship. I don't even think that we see the guys fight or, if we do, it's a rare thing. They are not there to save the day. They are there to be shipping fodder.
Like most magical girl shows, Winx Club starts with the main character making friends with one of the girls who will eventually become part of her magical girl squad. This brings us back to Miraculous.
Did you ever find it weird that Origins implies that Marinette has no friends? She doesn't even have a backbone until new girl Alya shows up to become Marinette's First Real Friend:
Marinette: I so wish I can handle Chloé the way you do. Alya: You mean the way Majestia does it. She says all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing. (pointing at Chloé) Well, that girl over there is evil, and we are the good people. We can't let her get away with it.
This is a bizarre opening because Miraculous is not about Marinette making friends or learning to stand up for herself. If you skipped Origins and just watched the rest of the show, then you'd have no clue that Marinette wasn't close with her classmates before this year. You also wouldn't know that Alya was new in town and you definitely wouldn't know that Marinette had never stood up to Chloé before this year. So why is this here? Why waste screen time setting up elements that aren't actually important to canon?
Miraculous did it for the same reason that Winx Club did it: magical girl shows traditionally start with the main character making friends with at least one of her eventual female teammates because Magical Girl shows are all about the girls and their relationships. The boys are just arm candy.
But Miraculous isn't a magical girl show. The writers have explicitly stated that it's a rom-com and romantic comedies aren't about female friendship. They might have female friendships in them, but that's not where the focus is. The focus of a rom-com is on the romance and Origins is very clearly all about the romance.
Origins as a Rom-com
Origins has a lot on its plate. It has to establish the villain's motivation for the first time, show us how the heroes got their miraculous, show us how the heroes first met on both sides of the mask, show us how they met their respective best friends, and show us how the heroes dealt with their first akuma. It would be perfectly understandable if this 40 minute two-parter didn't do anything with the romance. They have a full show to give us that!
In spite of this, Origins has some incredibly touching moments for both Ladynoir and Adrienette because romance is the heart of Miraculous. It is the main focus of the show. The driving motivation for both of our leads and the majority of the show's episodes. To tell the story of how their journey started without at least one of them falling in love would feel wrong. That's why we see both of them fall in love!
First we get Chat Noir giving his heart to his bold and brilliant lady, then we get Marinette's heart being stolen by the shy sweet boy who never once thought to blame her for her snap judgement of his character. We even get a touching moment where Chat Noir inspires his lady to accept her role and be Ladybug, leading her to boldly face their enemy and call him out:
Roger: I have a new plan, unlike you! Move aside and let the pros do their thing. You've already failed once! Ladybug: …He's right, you know. If I'd captured Stoneheart's akuma the first time around, none of this would have happened! I knew I wasn't the right one for this job… Cat Noir: No. He's wrong, because without you, she'd no longer be here. (they look at Chloe) And because without us, they won't make it, and we'll prove that to 'em. Trust me on this. Okay? Ladybug: Okay.
I love this moment, but it does lose a little of its power when you remember that we had an Alya-driven variation of this exact same thing five minutes prior:
Alya: HELP!! (Marinette suddenly gets filled with courage. She gets the case out of Alya's bag and puts on the Miraculous. Then, Tikki appears, happy to see Marinette again.) Tikki:(raising her arms) Mmmm! Marinette: I think I need Ladybug! Tikki: I knew you'd come around! Marinette: Well, I'm still not sure I'm up for this, but Alya's in danger. I can't sit back and do nothing.
This scene initially confused me because - if Miraculous is a rom-com - then why would you make Alya the reason that Marinette became Ladybug? Why wouldn't you have Chat Noir be the one in danger so that Marinette chose to fight because of her love interest and then encourage that bond with the later scene of him encouraging her? Why split the focus like this? Why give Alya so much attention?
In case you haven't figured it out, it's because Origins is trying to establish two different genres of show. Two genres that will continue to fight for the rest of the series (or at least the first five seasons).
Magical Girls Vs Rom-com
Why is Alya the one to shake off the nightmare dust and inspire the others during the season five finale? Why is Alya the one that Marinette trusts with all of her plans while Chat Noir is kept in the dark? Why does Alya and Marinette's friendship get so much more focus than Adrien and Nino's? Why was Alya the only temp hero who got upgraded to full time hero?
It's because Alya is Marinette's second in command in a magical girl show and magical girl shows focus on female friendships while the boys are just there to be cute and support the girls.
Why do most of Marinette's talks with Alya focus on Adrien? Why is Chat Noir the only other full time holder of a Miraculous for the first three seasons and then again for the final season? Why do Marinette's friends become more and more obsessed with Adrienentte as the show goes on? Why is the love square's identity reveal given so much more narrative weight than any other identity reveal?
It's because Miraculous is a rom-com and the love square is our end game couple, so of course the story focuses on their relationship above all else!
Are you starting to see the problem?
Circling back to our original question: no, it was not unreasonable for the fans to expect that the Alya reveal would have massive negative consequences for Ladynoir. That is what should happen in a rom-com and Miraculous is mainly written like a rom-com. But the writers are also trying to write a magical girl show and, in a magical girl show, Alya and Marinette's friendship should be the most important relationship in the show, so it makes perfect sense that the show treats the Alya reveal as perfectly fine because the Alya reveal was written from the magical girl show perspective.
When it comes to Miraculous, if you ever feel like a writing choice makes no sense for genre A, re-frame it as a thing from genre B and it suddenly makes perfect sense which is fascinatingly terrible writing! It's no wonder there are people who hate the Alya reveal and people who will defend it with their life. It all depends on which genre elements you've picked up on and clung to. Neither side is right, they've both been set up to have perfectly valid expectations. Whether those expectations are valid for a given episode is entirely up to the mercurial whims of the writers!
How Do We Fix This Mess
At this point, I don't think that we can, the show is too far gone, but if someone gave me the power to change one element of Miraculous, that element would be this: scrap both the magical girl stuff and the rom-com stuff and turn Miraculous into a team show where the friendships transcend gender.
At this point, I've written over a quarter of a million words of fanfic focused on these characters (the brain rot is real) and one thing I've discovered is that it is damn near impossible to keep Adrien and Alya from becoming friends. They're both new to their school while Marinette and Nino have gone to the same school for at least a few years. Alya and Adrien are both obsessed with Ladybug plus Adrien is a natural hype man who loves to support his friends and Alya loves to talk about her blog. Alya is dating Adrien's best friend. On top of that, Alya, Adrien, Nino, and Marinette are all in the same class, meaning that they pretty much have to be spending time together five days a week unless French school don't give kids a chance to socialize or do group projects. If so, then judging them for the first issue, but super jealous of the latter.
Given all of that, why in the world is does it feel like Alya is Marinette's close friend while Adrien is just some guy who goes to Alya's school? Along similar lines, while canon Marinette barely talks to Nino, I've found that Marinette and Nino tend to get along smashingly, especially if you embrace the fact that they have to have known each other for at least a few years.
If you embrace this wider friendship dynamic and scrap the girl squad, replacing it with Alya, Adrien, Marinette, and Nino, then the fight for narrative importance quickly goes away. It's no longer a question of is this episode trying to be a magical girl show or a rom-com? Instead, the question is: which element of the friend group is getting focused on today? The romance or the friendship?
A lot of hero shows do this and do it well. I think that one of the most well known examples is Teen Titans. That show has five main characters and the focus is usually on their friendships, but there is a very clear running romantic tension between the characters Robin and Starfire with several episodes giving a good deal of focus to their romance. I'd say that this element really starts in the show's the 19th episode - Date with Destiny - and it all culminates in the movie that capstones the series: Trouble in Tokyo. The character Beast Boy also gets a romance arc and, while it's more short lived, it's further evidence that you can have strong romances and strong friendships in the same show and even the same episode. You just have to own the fact that boys and girls can be friends with each other, a very logical thing to embrace when your show has decided to have a diverse cast of heroes instead of imposing arbitrary gender limitations on its magical powers.
I couldn't figure out a way to work this into the main essay, but it's relevant so I wanted to quickly point it out and give you more to think about re Origins. Have you ever found it weird how Origins gives both Adrien AND Marinette the "I've never had friends before" backstory and yet wider canon acts like Marinette has this strong amazing friend group while Adrien doesn't seem to care about making friends and instead focuses all his energy on romance? Why give both the protagonist and the supposed deuteragonist this kind of origin if it's not going to be a major element of the show? It makes so much more sense to only give one of them this backstory and then focus that person's character arc on learning about friendship.

in the sprawling, dimly lit room of haechan's halloween costume party, renjun found himself nervously clutching a small paintbrush. he had been enamored by y/n for as long as he could remember, and this halloween night felt like his best chance to finally make a move. y/n, dressed as the confident winx fairy, stella, was radiant and surrounded by friends.
renjun, on the other hand, had opted for a painter's costume, an ironic choice for someone as introverted as he was. he watched y/n from afar, his heart pounding like a drum in his chest as she laughed and chatted with her friends. she was the life of the party, her smile bright and infectious.
jeno patted him on the back, sensing his unease. "you okay, buddy?"
renjun nodded, his eyes never leaving y/n. "yeah, just... gathering some courage."
jeno gave him an encouraging grin. "you've got this. go talk to her."
as the night wore on, renjun mustered his courage and inched closer to y/n and her friends. he admired her confidence from a distance, the way she moved gracefully, captivating everyone around her. but every step closer was like an obstacle he had to overcome.
he finally managed to join their circle, though his heart was racing. "hey, y/n," he stammered.
y/n turned her attention toward him, her eyes sparkling with surprise and delight. "renjun! i love your costume! you make an adorable painter."
renjun's cheeks tinged pink. "thank you. you look stunning as stella." he smiled.
y/n smiled warmly, making renjun's heart skip a beat. "i've always loved her confidence, so here i am. so, what's new with you?"
the conversation flowed as they talked about their interests, hobbies, and the halloween festivities. y/n's warmth and friendliness helped renjun ease into the conversation, his nervousness gradually fading.
after a while, he seized the perfect moment and asked, "hey, i just… i was wondering if maybe you'd like to go out with me sometime."
y/n's eyes widened in pleasant surprise, and then she grinned. "i'd love to, renjun. i was hoping you'd ask."
renjun couldn't believe his luck. "really? that's great! how about we catch a movie next week?"
y/n agreed enthusiastically, and they exchanged phone numbers to make plans for their first date.

Hi~ Hope you have a lovely day. I want to get your opinions on my rant lol and ask.
Marinette is such a disappointment of a lead female character in a western magical girl cartoon. She isn't a good leader and all her team consist of yes men and women and sidekick Chat Noir where her real partner Alya is standing over to the side. I liked her in the first two season and maybe some in s3 but the s4 and onward just got to me ngl. It's her world and we're all just living in it. Miraculous is so weird when it comes to team dynamics because I get she's guardian but I really wished it were someone else and not her because she chooses people she already get along great with. It fun for team dynamics to add be different and broader.
The whole she's just 14 the fandom spouts only goes so far how many messes do you do until you realise you need to own up to them even at that age when you should know better on your conduct ?
I get it hard to communicate but onwards I always thought the bigger of the two in the conflict was her because of her secrecy and her controlling tendencies. I disliked it so much in the ephemeral episode and her betraying her partner disgusted me. Sorry to those who like or defend her character this much but I can't stan or like a character that does this much crap to a friend let alone a love interest and then gloss over or minimize it and not be called out for it. Like, are people standards that low they think she's a good leader or a good proper representation on feminism when this show reeks of misogyny and misandry. She's the ultimatum voice for Astruc.
A communication issue with her Chat was fine a long time ago but now in s5 she crossed it hell nah how do people still support a ship with her knowing she followed Hawkmoth command for Adrien. I literally can't anymore with this show. Every guy she likes gotta be so 100 percent in effort and like in the Shadybug special him always comforting her makes me so jaded whenever she cries what about a change in dynamics had we ever seen her comfort him in turn how are people invested in this ship? Like that time in the bench and she just thought of ways to woo or give presents instead of just comforting him is so sad to watch.
She really followed in Master Fu steps. The bar is in hell and she crossed it in the finale. There is no excuse no handwaving it away and i know in my heart they gonna minimize it for Adrien own good. Everything is for his own good huh? What good is it rooting for a ship that just reeks of pity points. Like, she was never my favorite but who knew 8 years ago she'd pull a stunt like this and people bending over and doing mental gymnastics to rationalise this insanity. She really is a good foil to Gabriel ironically to bad she has no sway in this family drama we call the Agreste.
I know she has good intentions and it's not wrong for her to wish to save her prince but like thats all that is intention. Her actions are also important and the effects she's done is so bad that if she weren't the Main character and we haven't spent the chunk of the majority in her pov alone she'd be disliked.
I feel like compared to other respective series Winx Club s1-3 Bloom, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, Totally Spies they have it much more harder and so many more all show the consequences of your actions and how you do them right and they're her age. I feel like whenever someone bring up consequences it's like people in this particular fandom think we do it to punish Marinette but no I just never ever saw it properly done in this show because she's very coddled in the narrative. I don't see other MC as coddled as her before in a show where when they MESS UP it's actually integral and important.
Rant over.
Tumblr media
You encapsulated all my thoughts perfectly, anon. I've said so many times before that I loved Marinette from Season 1-3 and even during Season 4 as it aired. What made me fall out of love with her character post Season 4 was the utter lack of acknowledgement of her actions and the insistence in portraying her as in the right at all times. Like you said, it's not just your intentions that matter. Your actions and the effects that they have on the people around you also matter. The writers don't seem to understand this, and it hits Marinette's character worst of all. She had so much potential to be such a great character, which is why I feel so sad seeing just how badly the writing failed her. Marinette deserved better.
Thank you for your ask!

Why Miraculous LadyBug Is the Worst Thing To Happen To Magical Girl Genre in All Its History.
It would be easy to sit here and tell you all the logical reasons why Ladybug is a bad show. It has horrible pacing, it has low stakes, repetitive episodes, and a dialogue that is cringe worthy enough to get its own tiktok sound.
But saying that, would be beating a dead horse at this point. Everyone knows this show is a bunch of wasted potential, only made worse by a director who keeps thinking he created gold, when in fact he messed up in a lot of areas – particularly the fact that he’s a grown man who thinks he knows what little girls want.
I’m not here for that.
Particularly, because I can be quite forgiving to shows like this. I mean, they’re kids' shows! Meant for little girls, and I haven’t been one for a few years now. But I still enjoy them.
Why? Well, cause I’m a massive fan of Magical Girl animes. I love the glitter, the sparkles, the silly adventures with friends, and the transformation sequences! Even with all its flaws, I really like them. So, stories or shows that borrow from them, get a pass in all these things.
I mean, I have fun re-watching WINX Club, I love Star Vs The Forces of Evil despite its flaws. Steven Universe holds a deep place in my heart and She-Ra is…She-Ra is in its very own league of how amazing it is.
So, no. Be it a very dumb show or a very smart one, I can have fun. It’s very rare when a show with, you know, glitter, girly stuff and animals CAN’T hold my attention.
But, well, MLB failed at that.
It’s just, not a good show.
I mean, it could be. But the age demographic would need to drop several, several age groups just to be barely watchable – and even then, I seriously doubt that it would be good for young girls to watch it. The lessons it teaches are concerning, to say the least.
And at this point, you may be thinking,
"Why do you care so much about this show? It’s dumb and you’ve acknowledged it treats its demographic as toddlers. Why do you care so much?"
Well, because I've been here... for a very, very long time.
Listen, I started watching Miraculous Ladybug, back when I was in high school. Maybe a bit old, but, hey, a lot of unique cartoons came out around that time. (Star Vs, Steven Universe, etc). So, I was hopeful. Really hopeful.
Mainly, because I was here before it EVEN premiered. I remember it. The original PV was 2D animated and it had this vague Princess Tutu vibes that JUST I couldn’t resist. It was clear as day that it borrowed a lot of its inspiration from magical girls from the 90's, probably even 80's.
The premise looked similar enough to Kaito Jeanne, and Kaito St. Tail for me to draw those conclusions.
It had a dynamic very similar to Princess Tutu and seemed like a mix of silly and dark like that one was.
To be honest, I could even see hints of Sugar Sugar Rune with Pierre and Felix.
Not to mention, the animation was beautiful.
I will never, never forget that scene with Chat looking at Ladybug starry-eyed under the Paris Moonlight. That was so beautiful, a genuine touch of romance that rang so similar to the Magical Girl animes I grew up with.
I was thrilled, I was excited. I wanted this show to succeed, before even the premier had dropped.
Tumblr media
This is all to say -
I never came to this show with the intention for it to fail.
And I didn’t expect nor want it to be ground-breaking or a giant of the genre. I just hoped I could have a fun time.
I didn't want subversions, I didn't want it to be dark, or deep. All I wanted, was sparkles, fun and a good time.
So, when it first aired, I tried to stay positive. I tried to like it, even when it had all these massive red flags.
I’ve never been a big fan of 3D animation, and especially not how it’s used in Magical Girl animes. (We all know the disaster the first season of Sailor Moon Crystal was).
But I swallowed it down.
The characters were different from the original PV
But I swallowed it down.
The background scenery was bland and generic and hardly felt unique.
But I swallowed it down.
I was here since day 1. I was here when Stormy Weather premiered. I was here before many of you were, and
I swallowed it all down.
Because I really, really wanted this to be good.
And I really thought it would.
But things should have been made clear, when they fucked up the one thing they shouldn't. The one thing that held this all together. The one thing that kept me here even as everything was burning to the ground, and I was too naive to realize it.
They fucked up the thing that started all this, to begin with.

Hi! Welcome.
This is Generalallxsanjishipper's blog

Killian here! It's not my real name, but it's my art name. I can be called Isa or Bibi as well. My real name is Barbara.
I'm from Italy and I'm a 2001 girl, She/her pronouns, bisexual, introverted, Virgo (too much of a perfectionist sometimes. Ops)
I am a Writer, a Screenwriter and an Artist. I even went to an art school, but the only thing that I learned there is anxiety. Yey.
I love reading. Like tons of books, but for whatever reason I stopped entirely reading books written in Italian and now I'm constantly binge-reading english stuff.
As a Writer, I create tons of Own Characters, yes. I have honestly so many OCs that it's hard to keep track of them between Original Works and Fanfiction. I have to admit that I never wrote as much fanfiction as I'm doing during those last years, mostly for bad experience with criticism in my first fics. But apparently I got over it after randomly starting to write little One Shots of a few different fandoms. It excalated, now.
To read my stuff, you can find me in AO3, Efp and Wattpad under Killian44peeta's nickname. Even as an Artist, you can find me with that nickname on Instagram. I DO NOT have TikTok and I DO NOT intend to have it. If I change my mind, it's gonna rain for months lol.

I have many, many fandoms.
Listing them all is impossible, but my obsessions usually stuck the most when I have a "main crush" in said fandom. If not, they are fleeting at best... And usually the same main crush is the one that I ship with most people (Not always though).
Yep. I'm a multishipper, pro LGBTQ+ and I love polyamorous relationships.
When I hate a ship, I just hate it. No matter how hard you try to change my mind. Still, I'm of the "live and let live policy" because, damn, ship wars are boring and if you dislike something, YOU BLOODY IGNORE IT.
YOU DO NOT STUPIDLY FIGHT SOMEONE AND SAY TO THEM TO K*LL THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY DO NOT SHIP YOUR PAIRING. THOSE PEOPLE YOU SHIP DO NOT EXIST. THEY ARE JUST A WRITER'S FANTASY. NO NEED TO BE SO STUPIDLY CHILDISH. JUST CALM DOWN.
*takes a deep breath*
Thanks.
A few examples of my main crushes:
Animated ones first.
Sanji, Corazon, Reiju and Vivi (One Piece), Douxie (Tales of Arcadia), Zuko (Avatar), Mika (Owari No Seraph), Levi, Jean and Yelena (Shingeki no Kyojin), Akashi and Kise(Kuroko no basket), Gwen (Total Drama), Megara (Hercules), Dark Bloom (Winx Club), Hijikata (Gintama), Hyoga, Eden, every Virgo Saint ever except Shun (Saint Seiya+), Shiro and Pidge (Voltron), Lust and Roy(Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
Not animated crushes (directly the person, not the role, because if not the list would be sooo much longer, ok)
Daniel Sharman, Danielle Campbell, Colin O'donoghue, Richard Armitage, Ian Somerhalder, Josh Hutcherson, Zoe Kravitz, Tom Ellis, Hayden Christensen, Bridgette Mendler
(am I forgetting someone? Probably. Sorry)
Welp. I dunno what else to say. Hope you have fun inside my blog? If you wanna be friends (chat here, on Discord, WhatsApp... ) and ask questions I'm okay with it? If you wanna talk with me about (my, yours) stories, I'm DEFINITELY okay with it.
:D I love to rant about fanfictions and original works. I love ranting about ocs and headcanon about characters. Yes.
(do not kill me if I don’t answer immediately, I have a life/I need time to draw/I need time to write)
Bye.

Can i ask a hcs or fic about Nakagoshi when he met a girl (reader) in a music shop, then he discovered that she likes hip-hop too, but he didn't have the guts to confess to her and feels like she is avoiding him but she's just really shy. Then one day, when they went to the party, he saw the girl again and she was really good at dancing but she only danced because she's part of the dance club in their school . Thanks ❣️

* I can imagine him frequenting music stores and buying new hip hop albums.
* It was one of his usual casual visits. He was wandering among the shelves. But that day was different from other days...
* He saw a young girl around his age in front of the shelf where his favorite artist's new album was, and he saw that she was looking at the albums with the same excitement as him.
* He watched the young girl for a while and looked away, thinking she might be uncomfortable.
* He left the shop without going that way so as not to ruin the moment she was having.
* When he encountered the young girl again in that shop the next day, the young girl caught his attention.
* They made eye contact a few times but he looked away.
* Even though Nakagoshi thought he was bothering her and she was avoiding him, y/n was just too shy
* He had wanted to confess to her for a while, but he didn't dare to do so, thinking that he might disturb her when he thought he was a student of Oya high school.
* A few weeks later, an unexpected surprise awaited him when he attended a party organized by the girls' high school.
* Some time after the party started, the girls in the dance club were dancing to show off their new choreography and Nakagoshi saw there the girl he wanted to see for a long time.
* She looked very confident and cool
* When the dance show was over, he made eye contact with the young girl again and the cool girl from before was replaced by the shy girl.
* Y/n had quietly stood aside, letting her friends be the center of attention
* Saying it's now or never, Nakagoshi went to the table where the young girl was sitting alone and called out to the girl whose name he didn't even know.
* When the young girl saw the boy she always saw in the music store, she smiled and said hello.
* The two chatted for a while. Nakagoshi was quite relieved when he realized that the young girl was just shy and that he was wrong to think that she ran away because she didn't like him.
* Their long conversation was really good that they realized they still hadn't asked each other's names and laughed
* And of course, the young girl's name was not the only thing the young man got...

It's crucial to emphasize that intentions alone are insufficient; actions play a pivotal role. Unfortunately, Marinette in seasons 4 and 5 failed to grasp this lesson. While her noble intentions are commendable, the series illustrates the repercussions of neglecting the importance of one's actions. Despite her professed love for Adrien/Chat Noir, her missteps in her partnership and the finale, particularly her decision to gaslight her love interest about his father being a hero, are significant.
The writers' tendency to downplay her actions and portray her as a white knight savior for Adrien is cute but troubling, considering her lack of control or involvement in his family affairs. The episode "Ephemeral" stands out to me as an irredeemable moment marked by lies. Despite fandom attempts to justify her behavior, the stark reality remains. Marinette, now diverging from her initial likable qualities, falls short when compared to strong female characters from shows like early Winx Club, Totally Spies, and Lolirock. She now mirrors Master Fu's approach closely, but the expectations in the fandom are disappointingly low when it comes to understanding her partner. She's quick to suspect him of hiding something, yet when the tables turn, excuses abound. Despite being a guardian and team leader, there's a tendency among fans to overlook her actions. True feminism and leadership involves inspiring others and supporting those in need, yet she doesn't even try in these aspects.
The recurring theme of Marinette's mistakes, coupled with her lack of evident growth, raises questions about the character's development. The fact that she is 14 intensifies the concern about the lessons being imparted to the show's target demographic. Despite fan theories, the internalized lessons seem questionable, especially for young viewers who are placed in situations like Adrien or Chloe, what do they learn? From what I got from the show... the narrative casting Adrien as the virtuous victim and Chloe as the villainous victim is disgraceful. The notion that personal growth and change are unattainable is a lesson that no one should adopt is messed up. Now looking back critically examining the show, instances where Marinette defends or apologizes for Audrey or Gabriel's abusive actions which are very troubling makes a lot of sense because this show is abuse apologist and because she's our titular character she's the voicebox of the show "messaging" . While some viewers may sympathize and defend her based on their long-term attachment to me the show having the potential negative impact on the younger audience cannot be ignored.
The disappointment of those deeply invested in the series is understandable, but for those with a more detached perspective you might feel fortunate like I do to have a more detached perspective on this front.

if the winx and the specialists had a big group chat with all of them in it (which i assume they do lol) what would it be called
I honestly think they would change the name every few days. Like it started out as Winx Club (cause the Specialists are honorary Winx and yall can fight me on that) but it can be the most random shit ever like:
Tecna and Idiots (Changed by Musa)
My Homegirls and THE LITTLE FUCKS THAT STOLE MY SANDWHICH (Changed by Brandon)
Whoever Texts Here is a Hoe (Changed by Stella)
Can We Please Stop Changing the Group Name? (Changed by Timmy)
Musa the Rockstar + the Royals + Peasents (Changed by Riven)
I Think All the Problems in my Life can be Traced back to Bloom One way or Another and I Deserve Compensation (Changed by Timmy after Bloom beat him in Mario Bros)
I Love Yall, but if You Don’t Stop Changing the Fucking Group Chat I Swear to all that is Holy That I Will- (Changed by Sky)
We Don’t Talk About Trauma-ma-ma-ma (Changed by Aisha after watching Encanto)
Immma Snnnnaaaakkkkeeee, Where are My Arms? Just kidding, Imma snnnnnanaaaakkkkkeeeee (Changed by Helia after watching A Very Potter Musical)
I Will Now be Spamming the Group Chat until All you Bitches Have Watched Wicked and Written a Five Page Essay About- (Changed by Flora after watching Wicked)
I’m kinda Starting to Regret Every Decision that Lead Me to be Added to this Chat (Changed by Nabu)
Everyone Shut Up! I’m Trying to Fucking Record! (Changed by Musa, who was instantly spammed with voice notes of awful signing, GIFS and dumb stickers)
This Is Why We Don’t Have Any Other Friends (Changed by Tecna)
HAVE YALL LISTENED TO MIDNIGHTS? YALL HAVE TO LISTEN TO MIDNIGHTS OH MY FUCKING- (Changed by Bloom. At some point every TS Midnight song has been the name of the group chat)
And the picture of the chat starts of as a pic of the group but it also changes constantly to whatever embarrasing picture has been taken that week, be it of Musa sneezing mid-song, Timmy screaming cause he dropped a weight on his foot, Bloom tripping down the stairs, Stella with racoon makeup cause she messed up her eyeliner, the possibilities are endless.

I think part of the trouble with reading ML as a magical girl team is that it’s really written to be Marinette as the Lone Hero.
Sticking with Winx Club as an example (which I absolutely loved), even though Bloom was clearly the main character, the other girls got focus and attention and their own narratives unrelated to Bloom’s. Alya doesn’t have that; nearly the entirety of her scenes and focus are still for or related to Marinette’s story, which the writers have outright told us is always meant to come first.
As such, I think the more solid reading of ML is that it’s a poorly written superhero romcom that pretends to be a magical girl team, but only ends up offering crumbs. It’s why we’re shown the extra Miraculous and given a “core four/five,” only for it to be revealed that the new holders aren’t actually permanent team members. A decision I remember thinking at the time made absolutely no sense, but now in hindsight can be perfectly explained by how doing so would necessitate that attention/focus be taken from Marinette, which ML absolutely refuses to do.
In fact, I’d wager that’s the actual reason Chat Noir has a crush on Ladybug before Adrien falls for Marinette: it keeps his attention even as a hero focused on her. There’s plenty of salters who love to deride him for not focusing enough on the “job” and making LB pick up his “slack,” but that fits the show’s intentions perfectly. Chat can’t be written to (as) capable if LB is to shine. Hence why we had the whole Catwalker argument being nonsensically centered around “perfection.” 😭
(Post with the Winx club example for context.)
You're absolutely right. Miraculous is trying to be a loan hero show (or perhaps a serious hero and silly sidekick show) where Marinette is the only important character outside of the villains, a magical girl team show where female friendships are the most important relationships in the show, and a heterosexual rom-com all at the same time which leads to a ton of nonsense choices because those are three genres that really don't mix!
While I never outright said it, the post about rom-coms vs magical girl team shows was spawned by the fandom conflict over Alya's writing in the later seasons. I wanted to take a moment to point out why she keeps being given the roles that people expect Chat Noir to get and why both sides of that fandom conflict have very valid feelings given the way that the show is being written, so I didn't talk about the lone hero thing since that doesn't really play a part in Alya and Adrien's fight for narrative importance. If we're looking at Miraculous as a whole though, then it's 100% a piece of the puzzle when you're trying to figure out where the writing went wrong.
I've mentioned a couple of times that they're putting way too much on Marinette's shoulders. The main reason that I feel that way is because they also decided to give her a full team of heroes to work with which is deeply confusing. If they really wanted to go the Marinette-is-the-only-real-hero route, then we should have never gotten any additional heroes beyond Ladybug and Chat Noir. Keep Chat Noir as the comedy sidekick and let Ladybug use all of the other miraculous as powerups without ever handing them out.
After all, when it comes down to their actual role in the narrative, most of the team feels like nothing more than a powerup since they basically just do whatever Ladybug tells them to do. Outside of Viperion and Bunnyx, there's no reason why Ladybug can't just dual, triple, or quadruple wield. This is extra true because they took the time to tell us that Marinette is able to wield more miraculous than most people and then... never really did anything with that. Why have a line like this one from Kwamibuster if you're never going to have Marinette do more than the occasional dual wield?
Master Fu: No Miraculous owner in all of history has ever been mentally and physically strong enough to use that many Miraculous at the same time. Wayzz: Marinette truly is special, Master.
Switching from a team back to a duo would also fix the awkwardness of Adrien's writing as that really wasn't a problem back in season one. The hero who does all the cool stuff and their wacky comedy sidekick who keeps things fun is a classic setup for a reason!

What do you think about the fact that the "light" put Valtor in a torture prison for almost two decades and how it could have affected him ? Love you meta btw
Thank you!! About the company of light sending Valtor to Omega…
welp. he had it coming
The exact circumstances of his imprisonment are, as usual, a victim to timeline wonkiness, so we can’t say for certain who it was that locked him up — whether it was Oritel and Marion before the Witches arrived to wipe Domino clean, or the Faragonda-Griffin-Saladin-Trio. But it is likely that Domino was destroyed before he was sentenced to eternity in ice, if not before he was even captured in the first place.
Going from that, Faragonda and Co. have just learned that their friends, their kingdom and their two young daughters (one of them a literal infant) were murdered as a final act of desperation/cruelty in the war. And they have the man who was complicit, if not actively executing said act, in their hands. If we assume that Valtor‘s fate was solely up to them, no Council and Light Rock involved, I totally get why they yeeted him to Ice Hell without hesitation. Any of his previous crimes would probably be enough to warrant that too already. I am frankly surprised that they didn’t straight up murder him on the spot, but that’s were my favorite headcanon that he’s pretty much unkillable (‘cause dragon fire) plays in quite nicely.
I love Valtor, he’s my pathetic lil meow meow, but he is also unrepentantly evil in canon. He’s living for the atrocities. He's doing it for power, but also DEFINITELY for funsies. There is the implication that his mothers can control his physical form, but even then, he never regrets anything he's done and would 100% do it again if given the chance. That is a) very sexy of him and b) a very good reason to put him in the freezer and never talk about him again. I'm with Faragonda on this one folks
That second question tho, how his imprisonment could affect him, offers a whole lot more options:
To be fair, I don’t think it was ever explicitly confirmed that Omega prisoners are awake and aware while frozen, I just like to do that in fics for the angst. But thats still 20 years he's just straight up missing, a lot of changes and developments that happened without him noticing. If he was frozen before Domino fell, thats one big newsflash for sure; if he knew beforehand, he's still terribly out of touch with how the dimension settled around that loss. I also like to think he does not understand half the lingo the trix throw at him. He fakes it till he makes it, but he is SO confused.
Going back to canon, there actually is one pretty big indicator that his imprisonment really fucked him up emotionally tho. And its in everyone's favorite episode too: the one with the ruins on Andros, where Valtor officially introduces himself to the Winx.
If we skip past his private conversation with Bloom (which would be a crime), and to the part where the Winx re-enter the fray to blast him with their colorful beams, we can see one INCREDIBLY quick shift in his behavior, to the point its almost jarring, and it's when Layla / Aisha steps up.
Up to this point, and really, in 95% of his battles, Valtor never loses his charming tone of voice and his calm demeanor. It's how he's mocking his enemies and asserting his superiority: he is so confident in his power that he doesnt even bother raising his voice, he just swats away spells and keeps up the chit-chat. That little shit. He's iconic that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Un-fucking-bothered.
But it also means that when he does lose his cool, its very noteworthy and makes it obvious he feels genuinely threatened or unbalanced. When Layla lands in front of him and announces herself as Princess of Andros, his face visibly falls. His smirk is wiped clean off, and he goes straight into the offensive, for the very first time that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No banter, no pulling his punches, he goes in for the metaphorical kill and leaves immediately after, with Layla permanently (for now) blinded in one shot. It's the only time i can remember that he specifically targeted her, and its with pure, unregulated rage and ruthlessness. Similarly, while he is doing his one-man world tour of planetary crisises, every planet suffers but Andros specifically is nearly wiped off of the star maps entirely.
While there is a point to be made about how the writers always seem to have it out for Layla, the watsonian reason for this that jumps to my mind is that Andros, for the past 18-20 years, has been his jailor. I'm pretty sure i remember lines from the german dub about how Andros and everyone on it is worthless and deserves the same fate, but even without that, its pretty obvious that Valtor is pissed at them specifically. By doing their galactic duty (or political responsibility) and guarding the Omega Gate, Andros has ensured Valtor stays nice and frosty for almost two decades. While his outward reaction - anger and violence - demonstrates his desire for revenge, his sheer lack of restraint and impulse control hints more at fear in my opinion. In the latter half of s3 we only ever see him freak out like this when he is actively losing the war. He is the animal that bites when cornered.
We cant be sure he was aware in his cell, but if just the mention of Andros can set him off like this, we can assume he really doesn't like to think about it, and might even have some form of PTSD sticking with him. And since his only reaction to fear at this point seems to be maiming and murdering, this will likely contribute to his evil-and-lovin-it problem.
Excellent ask anon!!

24th of December. As the snow was falling heavily outside and night was falling on Alfea, Saul and Farah were busy baking Christmas cookies. And not just any kind: German hazelnut cookies. Of course Saul and Farah didn’t know a single thing about… what, Germany? It was a land from the First World and neither of them had ever been there before. Bloom had told them about this faraway land, but which seemed to be utterly enchanting. She told them that one didn’t speak the same language in Germany as in the Other World for instance. Most of all, she told them about the food. On a trip to Germany a few years ago, Bloom discovered the much-vaunted hazelnut cookie recipe at the Christmas market. It was her favourite.
“You should try that one,” she said to the couple the week before. “It’s a must.”
Saul had rushed off to buy all the necessary ingredients for the cookies, whereas Farah had unknowingly purchased his gift. She hid it in one of her desk drawers, where she knew Saul wouldn’t interfere in. Yet she was unaware of Saul’s gift for her. He was thinking about that while baking the last cookies. He couldn’t help but admire his partner. She remained astoundingly beautiful, elegant and smiley. Her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders and she handled the cookie dough delicately. “How lucky I am to know her,” he thought. Hozier’s Work Song was playing on the radio. Saul whistled to the rhythm of the song. It was their song. He refrained from dancing and instead busied himself with putting the cookies in the oven next to a salted caramel Christmas cake.
“I know you feel like dancing, but be patient. We’ll have a slow dance tonight,” teased Farah.
“I feel like a kid, Fa. It is the best night of the year,” whinged Saul.
They both beamed, then they prepared the tea. Bloom, Sky, Terra, Sam and Ben will be coming in a few minutes, so they set the table with a Christmas-coloured tablecloth, arranged small dessert plates on which they placed black and gold paper napkins.
They barely had time to put the spoons down when someone knocked on the door. Farah opened the door and let her guests in. Everyone greeted each other warmly, taking care not to crush the presents. It was a family tradition: everyone gave each other their presents on the 24th at teatime, then Saul and Farah celebrated Christmas alone, Bloom and Sky on their side and Ben, Terra and Sam all together. But at the moment everyone was chatting happily over delicious freshly baked cookies and cake. And now it’s time for the Christmas presents.
Farah and Saul had a great evening in their friends’ company, who had given them incredible gifts such as a state-of-the-art Polaroid camera, a large recipe book and board games. Nevertheless they couldn’t wait for their friends to leave, as they wanted to give each other their present in privacy. Not that it was sex toys, only Farah and Saul liked to be just the two of them. These moments were so rare that they cherished them even more.
“I’ll get your present, close your eyes,” Farah smiled.
“Just let me look for mine and I’ll close my eyes,” Saul teased her, smirking.
He went into their bedroom, slightly trembling with fear. He’d never given a present like this before, for the simple reason that Farah was his first –and perhaps only– love, and he was dreading spoiling the moment due to anxiety. But he pulled himself together; he was going to do everything in his power to ensure that Farah was happy with his gift. He lifted a board from under their bed, which only he knew one could hide things underneath, and took out a sheet of paper. Then he returned to the living room.
Farah had only just returned from her office, but Saul had already closed his eyes. She handed him the small package, which Saul hastily unwrapped after reopening his eyes. It was a small jewellery case containing a magnificent silver signet ring with a labradorite stone. ‘This stone is supposed to bring protection to its owner. I thought it would be appropriate for you.’ A tear of joy rolled down Saul’s cheek. He went over to her and kissed her tenderly, giving her a big, warm hug. Then she said: ‘Come on, give me your gift!’. Her partner told her to sit, then Saul knelt down and started to read his paper with the best diction he could muster:
“With you I am at ease:
the faint clocks idly strike,
just as in olden days.
Come tell me of a love -
but simply not aloud.
Somewhere a gate's unclosed
out in the flower breeze.
Night listens at the panes.
Let us stay quiet now:
no one knows us so.”
“It’s a German poem originally. Bloom gave me the idea and she translated it for me.”
Farah’s heart began to pound wildly. Saul had just read her a poem. She didn’t know Saul had this poetic side and she was all the happier for it. She didn’t have the words to express what she was feeling. All she could do was hold her partner as tightly as she could. They were in their bubble of comfort and love and nobody could take that away from them.
They spent the rest of the evening playing their new boardgames, listening to songs that were dear to both Farah and Saul and eating cookies. It was just fine.

What if.... Winx CLUB (Fuck fate) was written by a queer woman, where the Winx wore couture fashion in official art, where the fairies were lesbians and men didn't exist in the world building because why would the specialists (human form having men with no magic aside from using magic weapons that fairies and witches could just use) need to protect magic having fairies and witches?
What if! Flora and Musa? Or maybe Musa and Aisha?
You don't see Musa always arguing with Aisha, do you? You don't see Musa debating on her friendship with Aisha, do you?
Musa falling for an ass like Riven is hard to see for my girl who's more pedal to the medal, it's hard to see because Musa and Aisha is more a love story you'll ever see.
Tumblr media
Haruka and Michiru in both femme.
Tumblr media
THE COMFORTING?! You sure that Riven moment wasn't just for hetero appeal?
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Musa and Flora have their disputes but they are sure enough good together, plus in Season 6 and 5 they were so!! You sure the writers didn't make Helia act so Sky coded (Nobody wanna be Sky coded) so they can add their gay agenda?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stella and Bloom is good too!
Stella wouldn't abandon Bloom in a situation where Bloom is confused about her identity as a fairy, hell she was the one who sneaked Bloom into Alfea, she'd probably even say it was her fault, she's a ride or die, I do enjoy Brandon and Stella together but I dislike Bloom and Sky together.
Hell even Bloom and Diaspro look good together, I hated how Diaspro was villainized for feeling hurt by Sky's betrayal, how she had genuine feelings and let go for a while because of her and Floras chat along with the pixies.
Hell even Flora and Diaspro?
Diaspro learning kindness from Flora? Flora learning how to be more open about her feelings both negative and positive? Because Diaspro is a spoiled bitch it makes for an idea of her coming in clutch with someone who would set aside her own needs for others that she'd learn some sense of morality, maybe make the third season have side plots where Flora and Diaspros one blooming friendship starts coming to an stop and Flora is on the wavering of choosing to understand Diaspro or see her as an enemy for spelling her friend (Sky🙄) Where they have a chat in the middle of the Winx trying to escape dark Sky.
Tumblr media
"Wait you talk shit about Bloom too?"
"sometimes but it's in front of her"
Tumblr media
"Did you have to invite them on our nature walk?"
"well they were curious,"
HELL, even Countess Cassandra as this gay woman who hates Queen Luna but in reality hates Radius as to why she treats him so poorly, why she honors the sun and moon rather than just the sun.

Hai dear, can i've male reader x flora ( from winx) So, the male reader is a cold and relaxed person, he always respects the decisions of the winx also flora and prefers to enjoy his time in peace while smoking outside.🍓
Take your health dear, ❤️
Flora x male reader
A/n:I don't fell comfortable writing about smoking as it makes me uncomfortable but I will have them spend I'm outside together
⚠️: reader is a specialist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were a specialist that worked with computers like timmy
So at the red fountain opening you had to be there to help with the lights because rivan had accidentally fride the lighting system with training
You had set up in the tech room when a loud bang rang thought the metal walls
You ran out to see 6 fairies and some specialist fighting a monster
You had called security Drowns
So when the fairies took it down it was captured
A fairy with long brown hair had walked over to you
She had a pink dress and green wings
"Hello I'm flora" she said as she looked at your taller frame
"Y/n" you say holding out your hand
"Thank you for the security drowns it helped in the end of the battle" she said
"No problem" you say as the two of you continued to chat
You soon spent time together out of your respective schools
Your favorite way to spend time with her was picnic in the Alfea court yard
The both of you slowly pinning for each other
Till one day you walked with her in the court yard as normal after classes and homework
You slowly reached over to her with purple and red heliotrope flower in your hand
"Oh what is this" she asked "this mean forever love"
Her eyes went wide with the meaning hitting her
All she did was lean up to kiss you
The moment you officially became her boyfriend nothing really changed
Just rivan getting grossed out by your PDA
It was nothing crazy but is was rivan
You still spent time outside a lot
Yet it was more comforting than before
Tumblr media
Thanks for the request. Have a good day and night 🌙
