It is Basque. It was created in La Viña Restaurant, in Donostia. But they first made it in 1990, so no, it's not a traditional Basque recipe because it isn't old and it isn't something we could find in every home everywhere.

A little about the story

Essentially, about 12 people are shoved into a small city and they've gotta kill each other to win. But, they've got more than one life. Also, they're being watched and they've lost all their memories of autobiographical information. They'll start remembering as they do things. There's magic and alien stuff involved. It will be deeply fucked up. The killing part will be very traumatic.
