Cuddle Bug

SO yesterday while i was playing on my phone my cat came over and cuddled with me, she left and i noticed this but then a few minutes later she came back and cuddled with me again without me even realizing i just kinda wrapped my arm around her and cuddled her. It took me a few minutes but i jumped and looked at her and was like ‘when did you even come back?!’ and she looked at me like ‘uh wut’ so i thought what would happen if you did this to Loki XD

Summary: Loki and you are cuddling when he gets up to do something. You don’t notice him come back but cuddle with him subconsciously. You’re shocked when you realize he’s back. Just some lighthearted fluff!

You and Loki had both eaten dinner and moved to the couch in the living room of the tower with the rest of the Avengers finding their own places in the room.

You had taken a whole couch by stretching out across it, laying on your side, propped up on your elbow. Then you gave Loki a look and patted the couch. Loki rolled his eyes but agreed to be the little spoon today. Something about him doing this in front of the team made the butterflies in your stomach flounder about. As everyone got into little cliques and started talking, you had Tony talking to you about him and Pepper, about his new arc reactor about to go live at the Avengers mansion, about the last mission.

You were both deep in the conversation and you felt Loki move and get up and disappear into the kitchen. What you didn’t feel was Loki come back and cuddle up to you again. Your body welcomed him naturally, your arms coming to rest across him, but this was all subconsciously. It’s only when Tony asks Loki, directly, a question that you jump and look at Loki incredulously and yelp.

“When did you come back?”

Loki frowns at you but it turns into an amused look.

“I’m not sure whether I should be offended or not...”

“I-”

“Did you not realize he came back? I mean you cuddled up to him and everything.” Tony asked with a laugh.

“I just...I don’t know, I was so focused on what you were saying I didn’t realize he came back.”

“It pleases me, immensely, that your body just accepts me without a second thought.” Loki says next to you, grabbing your hand and intertwining your fingers with his then kissing your hand.

Commanding Loki (just kind of happens)

Summary: You’re not really sure how it happens but you begin commanding Loki, the God of Mischief, around. To everyone’s shock, he happily obliges to your commands.

The first time you do it in front of the Avengers they all kind of stop in shock.

"Loki, get me a soda before you sit down." You told rather than asked the God.

You were too busy looking at a tablet Tony had lent you to see him stop in his tracks. He glared at the Avengers looking at him, ready to attack him as if he was thinking about attacking you for giving him an order. They weren't wrong but only because you did it in front of everyone. Probably.

He got you a soda and sits next to you, rolling his eyes at your nonchalant thanks.

The next time it happened was kind of a life or death situation.

"Loki, leave the room right now and calm yourself," You checked Thor's pulse through the gushing blood which made him slippery as an eel, "You either calm yourself and I’ll let you back in or you can sit out there like a petulant child. Go."

Natasha looked at you as if you were crazy, her hands pressing a t-shirt to Thor’s wound tightly. Loki heeded her no mind though and did as you told him.

He was welcomed back within 15 minutes.

Next, you do it more to push boundaries because Natasha had a conversation with you after Thor's fiasco. She's finds it quite funny that he obeys you like it's second nature but if anyone else dared do it he wouldn't hesitate to threaten their life. Trust me, Tony had wanted to test his boundaries and tried to do it too. Needless to say, Tony wouldn't be doing it again any time soon, he was still pissy some very expensive pieces of furniture got destroyed.

So one day while you and Loki are hanging out with Natasha, like you all consistently do because you three enjoy silence but companionship at the same time. You look across at Nat and grin, making sure Loki doesn't see it and commence your plan.

"Loki," Loki looks up from his book on midguardian foods newly introduced from 1996 to 2010, a questioning frown on his face, "Pass me the remote."

It's simple enough, nothing too strenuous. Yet.

"You have two perfectly functioning arms." Loki mutters but grabs the remote and gives it to you. You give him a genuine smile and you can see he has gone soft in the eyes before he looks at his book again.

You glance at Nat with raised brows, she looks away with a smirk as you turn on the TV. Flicking through channels you finally settle on reruns of Stranger Things. Natasha gets interested and you kind of watch but mostly you're thinking about commanding Loki to do something else but what? Loki keeps looking at his book but you see him glancing up often to watch the show too.

"Hey, Cowboy," Loki growls at the name, it had come up when Thor told you he used to call him a cow for his horns, "Don’t sit like that you'll get scoliosis....if a God can get that." Loki who had slouched forwards blinked at you and sat up straight in shock from the bad posture. When you see him glower at the TV you smile, he's probably cursing midguardians for ruining his good posture.

"Thanks." You whisper.

Loki hums carelessly and puts his book down to instead watch the show. Natasha coughs into her hand (a hidden laugh, you knew Nat too well), Loki eyes her suspiciously, looks at you, then focuses back on the TV. You force yourself, with great resolve might you add, to not laugh. You let things settle again before you try the ultimate command.

"Ugh." You start, rolling your right shoulder around and poking at it as if it hurts. You're literally about to tell Loki to massage it for you but you’re struck by paralyzing shock. Loki had noticed your 'discomfort' and moved closer to you. Lifting his hands towards your shoulder he stopped and looked at you with a tilted brow, asking consent.

Aww how sweet.

You nodded and shifted so he had better access to your back. One hand landed between your shoulders on your back and the other pinching the area where your shoulder met your arm and began massaging.

Shocked you let him staring at the TV but not knowing what is going on on the show. Loki and you had touched before so it's not so out in the left field that you're concerned but he was massaging you in front of Natasha. Your thoughts turned to mush as he pushes and pulls your body so he could access all of your back and starts massaging your entire back. You couldn't help the little whimpers and soft moans of delight. Not only was this man a God but he was literally gifted God like hands, unfair!

After letting out another whimper Loki stopped. You felt him shift back to his original spot and so you did too. Glancing at him you saw a hint of flushed cheeks as he stared at the TV distantly. Natasha was outright staring at him with both eyebrows raised to her hairline, it looked like.

Loki cleared his throat and left with an offhand excuse.

Once Loki left the area Natasha's eyes fell onto you. She smirked lecherously but said nothing about what had just happened. Turning her attention back to the show when you shrugged your shoulders, completely flustered.

She asks, "So like, I don’t doubt Will is going to be found but does Barbara make it?"

You smile and settle into the couch, "You'll find out in a few episodes."

Natasha groans and you laugh. You know she hates not knowing but if she's truly desperate she can look it up on Google or ask Jarvis.

The next time you command him it's another crisis.

5 Times You Shared a Bed with Loki and 1 Time You Made an Excuse to Share a Bed

One

It’s after a battle, to start.

Everyone is exhausted and Tony spent nearly two hours, two, arguing with the hotel concierge about the rooms. You and everyone else sat in the lobby letting Tony work his magic.

Tony comes back and gives everyone keys. When he stops in front of you he winces then says, “YouhavetosharearoomwithLoki.”

You blink at Tony slowly and he sighs, rubs a hand over his neck with a grimace on his face.

“You have to share a room with Loki because you’re the newbie.”

You look at the key card in Tony’s hands, up to Tony’s face, then over at Loki who sits napping while sitting up, his head tilted back on the wall while Thor talks to him about his battle he fought.

You grab the card from Tony and make your way to the gods. When you reach them you smile at Thor who goes quiet and stare at Loki. Loki who feels someone staring at him squints open one eye to look at you.

“What?” He says, trying to put malice behind it but he’s too tired, it comes out more of a sigh than anything.

“We’re sharing a room ‘cuz Tony doesn’t like you and I’m the newbie.”

Loki looks at you for a second, closes his eye, sighs, then opens his eyes and stands. He waves a hand indicating you to lead the way.

When you both get into the room there’s only one bed causing you and Loki to groan out loud.

“Tony, I swear to god.” You mumble.

“You’ll have to kill him before I do.” Loki says softly, flopping on the left side of the bed.

You don’t even think that you could call down to the lobby and order a cot. Why did that never cross your mind? In hindsight, you’re happy you didn’t think.

Instead, you strip to your panties and bra and climb into the right side of the bed, facing the wall. You do not care that you’re in your lingerie while sharing a bed with Loki, he can deal with it. You’re tired, don’t have your pajamas on hand, and you refuse to sleep in your suit.

When Loki finally gets up, he magics into pjs, and lifts the covers to see you nearly naked causing him to sigh again. When he’s comfortable under the covers he waves a hand into the air and you gasp as soft silk envelopes your body.

“Thanks.” You whisper into your pillow, nearly asleep.

Loki hums noncommittally and you both knock out.

Two

You both don’t talk about how you woke up facing each other but completely intertwined by the legs and arms the last time you shared a bed. So, when Tony tells you guys that it’s happening again you both give a little resistance.

“Listen, I shared a room with him last time, I think we should take turns.”

“You say that like it was atrocious to share a bed with me!” Loki says, you’re not really sure why he’s affronted you were all pretty tired from the battle today but not enough to be delusional.

“So you want to share a bed with me?” You throw at Loki who actually blushes.

“I didn’t say that!”

“It’s implied.” Tony throws in with a shrug.

Loki brings a hand up to his face and covers the irritated look that passes his face.

“Give me the damn card.” You grumble, swiping the card from Tony’s hand.

SO, you mentioned Kiran getting iskaied into Hisui and people's reactions to them going missing (I& assumed time, like... Paused until Kibben gets back but HEY, ANGST IS COOL TOO XD (/nm)) but im& curious what the heck happens when Kiran returns 0.0

Like, first of all, WHERE does Kiran return? At Spear Pillar, he wakes up in their bed, etc., etc... Is Kiran conscious immediately or passed out? 0^0 And what are people's reactions to Kibben's return ^-^?

Also, Kibben better choose Rowlet as the starter or ELSE-

I'm honestly torn on whether or not Kiran gets a starter. I'm not gonna play the game a third time for him ( I could just catch them a team with the save I already have), and the starters are fairly easy to come by. But,uh, I was already planning on giving Zero rowlet. Hm. Much to think about.

Anyway, onto your& question! Oh man. I feel like there's going to be a lot happening. First things first, I feel like Kiran would appear back in either Sandgem Town or Twinleaf Town- mostly for convenience. It would be a shock, to say at the least:

Rowan ( who would be 71 by the time Kiran comes back. He was 67 when Kiran disappeared), would be beyond be confused, angry and then overjoyed in that order. Confused cause, duh, Kiran's alive. Angry cause it kinda feels like a slap to the face to have mourned someone who was never truly gone. Then overjoyed cause, thank Arceus, his boy was okay.

Kiran's dad and little sister wouldn't even be angry or confused. There would be a lot of tears, soft whispers of ' your here, your here, your okay' ( Kiran responding ' I'm okay,I'm okay'). They don't let him go or leave his side unless necessary. They fear if they take their eyes away of them, Kiran will disappear all over again.

Danica, who honestly was never the one to initiate physical contact outside of shoulder pats ( not that she didn't like hugs, she do, but she was more softer if that makes sense), have Kiran the biggest hug she could possibly give. What's more, adding to Kirans confusion, is that Danica was crying. Visible emoting. Danica is known for her blank stare and while she does emote ( Kiran seen her do so), he never seen her do so, well, emotionally. Her voice was loud and wavering and she cried, holding him like theirs no tommorow. She's glad that her friend is alive. She's relieved that she wasn't wrong from thinking something was wrong. She's kinda angry at Giratina, since she knows he knows something. But that can wait.

Barry didn't believe it at first. He was still in the mindset of ' Kiran? Who's Kiran?' only to be told that Kiran was here? Alive? Slightly buff? No way. Danica had to drag him to Sandgem Town to see Kiran. And then he did. And he was livid. How dare he come back after so long. How dare he make Barry mourn( er, ' mourn') him?! It was a slap to the face and Barry couldn't handle it. Of course he's happy that his friend is back home. Part of him wants to hug them and never let go. But being in this sort of denial does things. He may have said some things. They're probably not talking right now. But they will, eventually. The whole situation is strange for everyone.

Above all else, the main thing that everyone wants to is what happened. Where did he go. How did they come back. And Kiran tells them .....after some recovery time. Yeah, Kiran is very much not okay after literally everything. In this instance, I'm having them remember their time in Hisui and their present life to not make things insanely angsty, but because of that, Kiran is having to accept the fact that the bonds he made back then are all dead. At most, the Hisuian forms are still alive, rare, very rare, but alive, but that doesn't exclude the fact that he saw the ancestors. He saw his ancestor. He learned that they're connected to Arceus. One time period to another, Kiran needs time to process everything ( maybe get therapy) and slowly get back into the swing of things. It's gonna hurt, but it's the only thing they can do.

Tdlr: Lots of tears. Lots of emotions. Kiran is not okay.

3 Important Relationships:

Dad – when Jared was five, he and his family moved out of England to America except his dad, who said he'd join later once he finished up with some stuff, but he never did: he and Jared's mom separated shortly after the move. Jared barely sees him, but the impact of this absence left deep trenches on the kid growing up, always wondering in the space between (sparse) visits how much Dad thought of him or if he was just forced to hold on still.

Sister – as his twin, Ella Williamson has always been around. Mainly, they are super competitive with one another, which led them to find their own niches (Ella with academia, Jared with sports) and realise that they are more different than the same. Their relationship is characterised by this, but Jared can't imagine not having her around; deep down, there's a trust between them that the competition is a way of expressing.

Soccer Team – I guess this is more than "one" relationship, technically, but as a good team dynamic should be characterised by unison, then I'm counting it! The team is what Jared relies on for relief – any emotional, physical, or otherwise tension he has, he channels all into the game and relies on his 'mates as support. The way they help him, however, is a bit outside the legal bubble; they're rowdy teenaged boys, after all; they find corners of the city where they can break open stolen alcohol, tag building walls with spray paint, explore abandoned structures, you name it. It's fun, and Jared definitely thinks so.

2 Fears:

Being Forgotten – #fomo. from his pov, the worst fate for a person to take is slipping into oblivion without making a single splash. He's a fighter at his core, and his motor - his modus operandi - is this. His dad's absence ties into this, his mother's busy schedule ties into this, his sister's dead-on focus on her grades and school ties into this; he doesn't like feeling alone, as that leads to feeling unimportant, and that plays right into his fear.

Claustrophobia – part of his lifestyle is being free. When he's not, he grows agitated. The closer the walls are to one another, the less comfortable he'll be even entering a room (i.e. he'd never hide in a closet during hide 'n seek; he much preferred hide'n'seek-tag where he could choose to run the whole time; he's really good at running). He hates being limited, and that includes physically too.

1 Element of their backstory:

The Williamson's have lived just under the middle class line ever since they moved to America. Mr. Williamson was the one with the larger paycheck, but not even his alimony check could cover their lifestyle. Jared's mom had to work several jobs to keep her family afloat, and he hated seeing the toll it took on her. But it also had a spillover toll on him: constantly worried about losing their house was the biggest thing, whereas the smallest things just lodged in the crevices he normally would have tried to take relief from, such as never having memories of someone making lunch for him to take to school or watching all his soccer mates get outlandish presents on his birthday whereas whatever gifts he got came at the expense of rent for that month or groceries or something. He didn't think it fair, and he was jealous, too. A constant worry to add on to everything else – stoking the flaming disappointed he holds for dad, boxing him into his fear of being limited or restrained, making him feel insignificant and small. So, he turns to fast and semi-illegal means for reprieve.

Can we ask you for advice on character development and interaction for a pokemon fanfic? I love Denounce the Evils and want to capture that amazing feeling from reading it with my own characters.

first off, thanks for liking my fic! ToT dang!

so, on development:

have an idea mapped out of where your character is and where you want them to go by the end. that is really the bluntest advice i can give. you need a start point and an end point, and how you fill in the time in between has to do with the external factors in your story and how your characters react to them as time passes.

think about the relationships you want your characters to have in the beginning, too! make little pairs and write out a list of traits you want their relationship to have. sibling-like? romantic? best friends? multi-layered? rivals? write the names of two characters and beneath that, write how each of them feels about each other. how does x feel about y? how does y feel about x? this will inform plot points, conflicts, and how they speak to one another. if they clash on two ideas, that’s an opportunity to expand upon. do they compromise? how big of a rift does it cause if they dont?

i’m gonna give you a mountain of DTE talk as an example just because we’re both familiar with it and i talk best in examples honestly xD im sorry this got so long and its just me talking about my own ass story.... but i super do not know how to like... give general advice, so i wanna like. idk. walk you through my own process? yeah

there’s actually two simultaneous developments each character is going thru at once--all three of them need to achieve the goal of, ultimately, growing to be heroes rather than villains. this was the easier bit to develop, because they were fairly soft-hearted villains to begin with. it really was a matter of dissection first--what motivates team rocket to be villains? the answer to that is: stability, money, freedom. villainy is a career to them, so in chapter one i mercilessly destroyed their organization. that left their main motivations: stability, money, and freedom. the rest of the story is about them finding that elsewhere. they don’t know where elsewhere is, so they travel the world until they do.

good deeds don’t always immediately yield results. this is a lesson they have to learn, and they have to choose to do good anyways. their past will often creep up and hold them accountable. they have to fight their urge to make excuses for their past selves. and at certain points, they have to resist the temptation to go back to the comfort of villainy. but, as i’ve said, they’re all very softhearted individuals. its easier to make them choose good than say, a villain like hunter j or giovanni.

this is the plot-centric character development--this is was fuels the story and the conflicts they face as a group with a shared past. the other running character development happening is their individual development. this dictates 1. how they interact with one another and 2. how they might splinter off from the group and interact with various people they meet along the way.

meowth’s arc is the simplest--it revolves around this idea that haunts him: that he’s alone in the world, caught between two states of being, never quite knowing where he fits in and searching for a home. his end is that he realizes homes are made, not found, and that he’s always been exactly where he belongs--with his two best friends, with his family.

james’s arc is about healing from his trauma, a trauma he is ruled by. he allows others to step on him because its what he knows, he runs from hard conversations because he sees his abusers in everyone and everything, he leaves his friends behind because he legitimately believes he is doing them a service. james has a martyr complex and can’t fathom he’s loved by anyone--he considers himself a burden, so he’s self-sacrificial to a fault to lessen that burden. his end is to be the opposite of ALL this--in the end, james is brave. he faces everything head on, he has conversations with what scares him even if his hands shake and his voice gives out. he advocates for himself, he looks his abusers in the eyes and tells them who he is and they see it and they’re scared. he reunites with all the friends he left behind and gives them a second chance even when he doesn’t fully believe he’s good for them, he trusts them. he might not entirely believe that his presence in anyone’s life matters, but his friends and pokemon believe that, and he trusts them.

jessie’s arc is about a lot of the same stuff james’ is about--overcoming the trauma that rules her. in her case its traumatic abandonment, and her fierce prioritization of herself. jessie loving herself is not a toxic trait by any means, but where it comes from is problematic--she loves herself so wholly because she believes that if she doesn’t, no one ever will. she’s obsessed with being someone’s wife because once that happens, in her head, thats it! they cant abandon her! they cant leave! she’s safe! she’s secure! all her actual toxic traits revolve around her fear of abandonment & her history with it--she abandons her own friends in a heartbeat because she’s scared of them doing it to her first. she refuses to be vulnerable or open up deeply to the people closest to her because she’s scared of them loving her, and her loving them back, and that love being fostered, and the euphoria of that... and how bad it will hurt when they leave. she’s incredibly sensitive and masks it with anger, and overall she’s just a neglected person who needs to be loved for who she is, but who struggles with finding someone to love her because she’s become so sharp and walled in DUE to all that neglect.

her end is realizing that she’s wasting her life living in fear of this heartache. that never being abandoned again is not worth living a life without love. and while my message was never really meant to be “jessie has to change herself to be loved” (i try to make it clear james fell in love with her at first sight when they were kids xD) she CHOOSES to make several changes: she chooses to open up to her friends, and she CHOOSES to compromise and make little sacrifices for their own well-being now and then.

going back to character relationships, i always knew DTE was going to be a rocketshipping story, and a huge part of that was because i was dissatisfied with reading very few realistic takes on their relationship’s development. fanfiction is meant to be self-indulgent, but jessie and james are polar opposites. in some ways, that makes them an amazing couple! but there is a LOT of shit they feel different on, and so their development largely revolved around their inability to meet each other on the same wavelength before finally brute forcing it and putting in the work. i knew i wanted them to have a screaming match with one another by the time the fic was done, because the build-up of tension between them over the years needed to come to a head so they could both break down and just talk.

james runs from things he’s scared of. jessie is scared of people running from her. james thinks he’s lower than dirt. jessie thinks she’s the most important thing in the world. james is canonically gamophobic & has PTSD revolving entirely around marriage. jessie is obsessed with being someone’s wife. james desires freedom because he was raised in stifling conditions. jessie desires stability because she was raised in conditions that constantly changed. my assignment is to somehow make them fall in love.

this is what i’m talking about when i say conflicts are key to informing development. ultimately, conflicts are contrasted against how much your characters are willing to compromise for one another. early on in the story, they might fight and stew and mess things up and be incredibly clumsy with one another. as they work on their issues, these conflicts can keep coming up, and every time, you can make them compromise a little more.

in DTE, my best example of this is the fire stone. jessie snags it for herself in chapter 4, and immediately starts dreaming up a future where she has the flareon she always wanted. but jessie’s arc is about how love requires compromise, and how falling in love with someone can make those compromises come almost instinctively. so in chapter 16, she gives the stone to james without a moment’s hesitation. in the chapter before this, she’s the one to stoke her anger and admit she knows nothing about why he’s so disgusted by this baby oddish they just hatched. these little moments of compromise build. the reader remembers them, james remembers them, and they allow him to make his own compromises.

when one character shows growth, the people close to them are likely to have moments where they stop and think--wow, they’ve grown, haven’t they? maybe... i can do that, too.

again sorry i just blathered on about my own ass story, its just the hardest i’ve ever really thought about this kinda stuff so its my reference level, tbh. i would say, plot out your story. plot out your characters--their good traits, their bad ones, where they are, and where you want them to go. as you hit points in the storyline, you can think “this is the perfect place for these two to conflict” or “this is the perfect bit for a small victory.” and you can just gradually change and shift those interactions as time goes on. thats kinda how i played it! i had a lot of little scenes i wanted to write, and how my characters developed changed and shifted and melded to those scenes.

and remember, you are in control. this is your canon. anything you’re not happy with, you can change and rework! take it seriously, but don’t stress out too much. overall, the one thing you need to always take to heart: just write. dont let the fear of doing it wrong paralyze you into making nothing at all.

So, yesterday someone contacted me via Instagram and thought that the last two chapter got deleted since there was no link....I’m sorry I hope this won’t confuse anyone, let me explain: I write my writings in my Masterlist to show you what will come next and to make my life easier because just adding a link is quicker, HAHAH I’M SO LAZY XD and since we talk about being lazy....I was to lazy to correct this chapter, that’s why it took me so long, lmao XD but now I’m posting it...have fun my lovely Fonys :3

Ps. If some of you memorized my Masterlist and got confused, yes, I planned to write a 6th chapter but realized that the last two chapters were really short so I put them together, heheh XD

Saeyoung’s POV

,,Please take care of them, guys...“ I mumbled and looked at Zen, Yoosung and Jaehee. ,,Don’t worry....“ Jaehee mumbled. She was clearly worried. Well, I was too. It was uncertain if I would be back alive after all. ,,It’s kind of unfair that the trust fund kid is allowed to come along just because he‘s rich.“ Zen complained. I looked at him ,,I would rather send you than risking my life there, trust me.“ I snapped. Perhaps I was a bit too hard on him since he was helping me out... Hopefully I will have time to apologize to him after everything is finished.... My thoughts often wandered to my little family while we were driving in Jumin‘s van.

,,Let’s talk about the plan....“ Saeran mumbled as he typed something into the laptop. ,,We will first kidnap the man in black, his name is Lee Sang Chul. He‘s the prime minister’s right hand and the one who followed us in the past. He was also the one who hurt Mc and the twins.... After we have him, we will interrogate him, that would be team A’s task. Team B will hid cameras in the surroundings so that we have enough evidence.“ Saeran explained with a layout of the place. Everyone nodded and agreed to it. And so we followed the plan. It was pretty easy to kidnap Mr. Lee Jumin simply began to talk to him and explained, who he was. The plan was to tell him that he was interested to work together with the Prime Minister. In the next moment however, Mr. Lee was dragged into the inside of the Van.

,,Who are you?“ he snapped. ,,You still don’t know?“ I asked and began to throttle him. ,,Saeyoung, we need him alive.“ Jumin said as he observed us. ,,Unfortunately.“ I snapped and tried to stay calm while the man, who almost killed my family, glared at me. A bodyguard began to film the scene as Jumin calmly tried to get information out of him. But the right hand of the Prime Minister stayed silent like a dead man. ,,The Prime Minister will eventually go to prison, you won’t face danger if you tell us now.“ Jumin said. ,,I....am loyal.“ he mumbled and looked away. The man was depressed, I could see that it was pretty hard for him too. ,,Why did you do that to my family?! Is that the way to show him that you’re loyal? Dirtying your hands with blood?! A pregnant woman? Twins?! Who the hell was loyal to us? We never did anything to this man! I don’t know and I don’t wish to know what my mother tried with that ass BUT WE ARE TRYING TO LIFE!“ I yelled.

The man was still looking away, he actually looked pretty pitiful but I tried to ignore these feelings. Before Jumin could say anything someone hit the van‘s door pretty hard. ,,SAEYOUNG, JUMIN! WE NEED TO FLEE!“ Saeran screamed from behind, making me panic. ,,Why?!“ I yelled as I opened the door. ,,They found out! What will happen if they realize that Mc is alone without us?!“ Saeran snapped and tried to catch breath. ,,Aish!“ I yelled and looked at the man. And him? But we couldn’t think about it. Everything went quickly, five minutes of hell.

The prime Minister’s guards held guns up, ready to fire at us. ,,NOW!“ Jumin yelled and all his bodyguards appeared from the hidden places, holding the Prime Minister’s guards. ,,AT LEAST KILL THE DEMON!“ our ,,Father“ yelled and glared at me before he took his own gun. I saw the bullet and regretted everything I did in my life. What if we would have stayed with our mother instead of going to Rika? Would I still have met Mc? Would I still be a father? What will have happen to my baby if I die now? To my two tomato princesses? Who will snatch them away from me? Will Mc be able to forgive me for dying? Will she live without me? I wasn’t sure. All these thoughts hit me in five seconds. Five seconds before my body fell backwards. Blood was on my chest, my back was aching and my butt was scratched by now.

,,SAEYOUNG!“ I heard Saeran yell. I turned to Saeran and saw how another bodyguard got a hold of the strong man we feared so far - the Prime Minister. I looked at my chest, blood, I was soaked in blood. Fortunately it wasn’t my blood.... ,,Why?“ I asked Mr Lee as he puked blood on me. I stayed like that. I was able to hear his words better like that. ,,Because...I was sorry...I wanted to free myself from these regrets and wrong doings. I wanted the two of you to live happily...I really wanted to....“ he mumbled before he collapsed on me.

Fear hit you in the middle of the night when someone tried to open the door, however mistaking the password four times. You immediately jumped up, realizing that your reaction was too quickly. You felt dizzy and were almost falling backwards but Zen was right behind you, supporting you like a strong rock. ,,Princess, take it easy!“ he told you as he looked at you. ,,Hid my children! Hid them! They are coming for us!“ you began to sob as the door opened. It was over, wasn’t it? ,,I MEAN, WHO THE HELL CHOOSES ARABIC AND FORGETS HOW TO SAY IT?!“ Saeran yelled as he supported his older twin brother. ,,The word has a similar word, I just did wrong because I‘m not in my right mind.“ he laughed and looked at you. The sight of Zen supporting you made him jealous but he was happy to see you. ,,Are you well, Mc?“ he asked you as tears streamed down your face. ,,Why are you soaked with blood?!“ you cried. ,,Not his blood.“ Saeran snapped. ,,Why are you supporting him then?“ you still asked. ,,Because this idiot began to jump around and got hurt at his ankle.“ Saeran once again responded before he let go of Saeyoung. Saeyoung approached you and hugged you. You weren’t the only one who was crying now. ,,J-Jumin?“ you sobbed. ,,With the police...he will take care. Children?“ ,,A-asleep....“ you sobbed harder. Your legs almost gave up but Saeyoung supported you for good. This night the whole group decided to sleep at Saeyoung’s place, just to wake up two hours later. None understood the fuss except for you and your husband of course.

,,SHE‘S GIVING BIRTH GET THE CAR!“ Saeyoung yelled as he supported you. ,,Saeyoung! Saeyoung it’s different! Something is wrong Saeyoung!“ you kept crying, clutching your belly. ,,Mc try to breath, breath!“ Saeyoung comforted you and held your hand. He tried to make you feel better but in his head he had completely different thoughts. Was this what the doctor meant? Were unhappy things bound to happen? In an instand Saeyoung and the other boys helped you to get into the car. Jaehee went along with the two of you while Saeran had the task to drive a second car since the twins had to come along. Yoosung couldn’t drive and since Zen was in an accident once, Saeyoung trusted only his brother. The girls didn’t know what was happening. All they knew was that their mom was sick once again. ,,SHE‘S LOOSING TOO MUCH BLOOD!“ the nurse screamed as you lied down, completely pale in the white hospital room. ,,SHE HAS NO STRENGTH LEFT!“ someone else yelled as the red haired father was pushed out of the room. Saeyoung‘s heart was breaking apart when he turned around to take a last look into the room. He noticed that you were searching for him. His wife longed for him. This was the most horrible labor for everyone. The medical support was at their limit, as well as the midwife and you. But after a lot of complications and fears you finally gave birth. And even through you still weren’t awake after one day and your new born boy was in the intubation, Saeyoung was happy because everyone was alive after all. ,,How will you name him?“ Saeran asked when he visited his brother. ,,Sang Chul. Choi Sang Chul.“ Saeyoung nodded.

,,Yung Mi, Mun Hee, Sang Chul! Please stay here!“ you yelled as your 10 years old girls ran through the park together with their younger brother. You were really afraid that your son could fall and hurt himself. ,,Run behind them!“ you snapped at your husband. ,,Huh?“ he asked you as he chewed his chips. ,,You just don’t know how it works.“ Saeyoung laughed and begann to yell ,,OI! I HAVE HONEY BUDDAH CHIPS!“ You had to hide your smile as you saw how the children ran back to their dad to get the chips. ,,Now, stay here, yeah?“ you slightly scolded them as you took your son up and in your ams and held Yung Mi’s hand. ,,Mun Hee, take Unni‘s hand and Daddy‘s!“ she ordered and so like a family you walked through the park.

She actually requested a story where the Prime Minister found out about the twins, since she draw a picture with Saeyoung and the twins (Chapter 1) and so I began to write about it. Costume Ideas for Halloween 2018: Super Sentai

We did Power Rangers, now it is time to focus on the eastern progenitor of that franchise to seek ideas for Halloween costumes.

Yakuu Sentai V-Leaguer (MLB Team edition)

October isn’t just a time for tricks and treats, but it also signifies the end of baseball season here in the USA with the World Series games airing throughout the week leading to Halloween and sometimes goes until November. So my first choice for a costume idea goes out to you diehard sports fans.

In the 1980s, when Kagaku Sentai Dynaman was being planned out, it was originally going for a baseball theme and went by the name Yakuu Sentai V-Leaguer. Ultimately, this idea was scrapped by Toei as marketing dudes thought that totally gnarly and rad 1980s kids would think baseball was a lame concept and they needed something “cooler”. Remnants of this idea, such as the Dynaman having their helmets sculpted to look like they have baseball caps in them, are seen in the suit designs and the Dyna Rod sidearm looks somewhat like a baseball bat.

For this idea, there are many avenues to choose from. You can either do a full Dynaman suit with patches you bought online of your favorite team and emblems painted on the helmet, go for a budget “casual” approach and wear a team shirt, custom Dynaman helmet and baseball uniform pants and cleats. Or you can do a full custom V-Leaguer approach, with the team’s name proudly on your chest, adorned in the team’s colors and the number of one of your favorite players on the back (or make your own number with your name on it)!

I think the most amusing one would be for Texas baseball fans, as they would have literal Texas Rangers cheering on their team! XD Also, for more amusement if you are at a game, hold up a sign while in costume that says #DigitalWatches, fans will get the joke.

The Original Battle Fever J

This concept art drawn by Shuuhou Itahashi and Yuuji Kaida, was created to pitch the concept of Battle Fever to Marvel Comics. The two emulated the art style of John Byrne’s era of X-Men comics, and it shows despite being great Bronze Age-style designs. These feel more in line with America’s superheroes than Super Sentai and thus changes were made along the way to make the look more appealing to a Japanese audience.

Some of these even look a little familiar to those of Marvel Fandom, Battle Kenya is channeling a bit of Black Panther, Miss America’s leotard is modeled after Captain America’s costume and Battle Japan has a bit of X-Men’s Sunfire in his look.

Now sadly, this is the only image of the original concept on the web right now, so improvisation is needed a bit when going into the costume design. But that actually works to your advantage, with only a base template, you are free to tweak the look however you want! All you really need to keep in are the colors of the flags somewhere to keep the nationality theme. I imagine original Battle Kenya and Miss America will be the most popular of the bunch based on how popular their inspirations are thanks to the MCU.

Battle Cossack would have to be updated, since one, the Soviet Union no longer exists and thus dates it quite a bit and two, fur underpants mixed with spandex are a really weird combination (and probably very itchy).

Maskman (Orignal Fiveman Prototype Concept Designs)

Maskman was a game changer in terms of helmet and costume design as well as venturing outside the storytelling realm of sci-fi and incorporating new mystical ideas into its elements, heralding a sneak peek at what Super Sentai would be in the coming decades. But for a brief period, Maskman was on the verge of being a throwback in design when it was known conceptually as Fiveman, which of course became the name of another Sentai team.

The original suit designs incorporated what came before, most notably Battle Fever J. X1 Mask, the one-off sixth member of Maskman, is the only “living” remnant of what could have been.

You will need LED lights and circuitboards, cosplay costume material, a custom stencil for creating the black “5″ chest emblem out of the fabric and if you can, find 3D modeling software for aiding in creating the helmets. The female Ranger helmets have a bit of sculpted helmet “hair” kind of like AkibaYellow and Blue, though you can skip that part if you don’t want 100% accuracy to save time. You will also need material to create the costume belts and pouches.

Fake KyoryuRed

One of the pitfalls of being a Super Sentai fan is that a few members of the fandom are quick to gossip and sometimes resort to elaborate pranks to get attention, like most fandoms. One cruel tactic that was put up with is the fake designs of an upcoming Red Ranger. This has recently died down thanks to stronger connections to official sources, but still is a problem that persists as even Kyuranger got the Fake Red treatment last year. In 2013, a rumor spread that this image above was the Red Ranger of the then trademarked Kyoryuger.

Despite being immediately debunked as fake, it isn’t a bad design, harkening back to Zyuranger with the dino themed helmets that in clearer images had a jagged “teeth” like pattern on the red parts sculpted above the mouthpiece. It also had Dekaranger-like suit patterns with the represented dino covering a portion of the bodysuit in black silhouette with white outlines, “fossil teeth” shoulder pads and a metallic segmented belt with a gun holster and sword holster.

Commander Hilltop’s “Robocop” crazy outfit

In Episode 31 of LupPat, a Gangler tries to negotiate a plea deal with the police. In a comical attempt of Good Cop, Bad Cop the Patrangers make their boss wear....whatever this is, to make the Gangler uncomfortable (and reference Robocop). It is really bizarre and doesn’t work.

What you will need: a soup/spaghetti pot on your head, metal bowls on your shoulders, a black body suit, oven mitts, 2 grill spatulas, a toy gun, white and orange rain boots, large forks, a pot lid, grill grates or small baking cooling racks and a metal cookie sheet on your back. In other words, raid your kitchen for parts!

Devil Gun from JAKQ Dengekitai

A crook made out of guns, self explanatory. His head is a gun, his chest has 3 cannons, his arms have cannons and more guns are in his fingers, he is a gunstavaganza! You will need a lot of gunmetal gray paint and a lot of patience. If you examine closely, you can see where the eye holes are for the costume.

Ways to make it really impressive is to replicate the firing effects for the head gun with liquid fog juice, lights and sound effects. Just be careful though, in these troubling times we live in, seeing and hearing guns can make people jittery.

Zeek Jeanne from the GoGo V movie

In an alternate universe, when GoGoV was adapted into Lightspeed Rescue, I like to believe Ms. Angela Fairweather got into the fight wearing this suit instead of PLEX creating a new Ranger from scratch. (*nudges Boom! Studios*) Though the Titanium Ranger is awesome, so it balances out.

Demon Hunter Zeek bestowed his powers to GoGoV ally Kyoko Hase to become Zeek Jeanne before she ultimately lost them to give GoGoV the power to destroy the movie’s villain. One thing I never understood is why the protective face visor just vanished when the suit equipped onto a female hero.

So you have options of face visor on or face visor off. Unlike most Ranger cosplays, your field of vision will be a little better than wearing a Ranger helmet given the large face visor if you do some minor alterations.

GekiBlack

Rio, the main baddie of Gekiranger, eventually learned he was being manipulated by Long and allied with the GekiRangers. Jan dubbed him “GekiBlack” and his partner Mele as “GekiGreen” if they became friends later on. Sadly, it was not meant to be as Long turned into his dragon form and made bite-sized snacks out of both Rio and Mele.

Many fans often wonder what would have happened if Rio had lived and instead of reusing old monster suits, PLEX and Rainbow Zoukei crafted a brand new Gekiranger outfit for him. Most fans know the rules of conceiving such a notion: he must be black in color with gold accents in the suit, and his helmet must be sculpted to resemble a lion’s mane or have lions in it.

What You Need: A GekiRed base template of some kind, black and gold paint and costume cloth, Gekiranger symbol, concept sketches to plan out an idea of what to tweak. Rio’s Kaijin form can also be used as a template. The most difficult part would be choosing a morpher, either make a custom one or make a stylized version of the GekiChangers. For the Super Version, just emulate the base Super Gekirangers but with black and gold added to the white in the bodysuit or just do the ‘shop image above.

If you have a special someone who wants to Ranger up too, you can be nice and make him/her a GekiGreen outfit and celebrate Halloween as two fated lovers!

Yo dude your fma liveblogs are entertaining as hell and your analysis posts are👌👌👌 I love both versions of fma. However, I watched ‘03 first, so it holds a special place in my heart. I appreciate you for not bashing it and for giving it a chance. You bring up many good points in regards to both series and their flaws. I respect that. Ahhhh yay thanks!!!

Sadly, despite the fact that I watched and finished 2003 / COS about 7 months ago, I still haven’t completed that Envy cosplay I was working on. Isn’t that pathetic??? I need to finish that thing. A friend of mine who was also working on an FMAB cosplay just wore the finished product New Year’s Eve. So since he got HIS end of the deal done, I need to… get my buttocks onto finishing my project. Haha whoops.

I am thankful and honestly sort of relieved to hear you appreciate my thoughts on the 2003. Thanks for telling me and sending me this encouraging message (and connecting with me over FMA!!!!) I know that, unlike many people, I’m not coming into 2003 with the same nostalgia they feel. It’s very different watching a show as it’s premiering, and before another anime is created following the manga timeline… than it is watching a show 15 years after it debuted, and with the foreknowledge/experience of the full manga/later show.

Honestly, I was worried I would sound too unintentionally irreverent or something. Truth is I adore the experiences large franchises bring. It’s FUN to get infinitely more characters, more story, more adventures, more memories, more media. We can choose how we participate in large franchises - we can stick with main materials, or, if we want, we have the opportunity to excitedly fish through EVERYTHING we can find. And I’m a fisher! I want all the factoids, all the amusing moments, all the incidences, in the fictional worlds I love. For me, it’s far more enjoyable to be able to appreciate the good in all and ANY part of a franchise… looking for tidbits to enjoy and supplementing my love of the world… never entering anything with unrealistic expectations… and not getting caught up in negative stigma.

And even if I do end up feeling negative about something in a franchise, for whatever reason… ngl I keep that to myself in main public circles. Occasionally I’ll post constructive criticism from a more objective analytical light, but I hate the idea of me being negative on main. I really avoid posting negativity publicly online because I don’t like the idea of contributing negatively to a community that’s here to have fun about fiction. I’m not perfect. I’m a sucky fallible human. I’ve broken my own rule. Heh. But I truly prefer my experiences in fandom to be connecting with positive things. So I wouldn’t want to enter a culture of talking negatively about ANYTHING.

The FMA franchise is something I, for the most part, embrace as a whole with happiness. The ridiculousness in Prince of the Dawn and Daughter of the Dusk I find endearing. I have affection for the Live Action in all its ups and downs. The books are fun, the guidebooks are fun, the art books are fun, the OVAs are fun… and honestly, I’m sort of jealous you can enter the 2003 show with that affection, too. ^.^ It’s fun to feel that way about shows and 2003 has lots to offer.

Confession: every other part of the FMA franchise I can embrace for what it is, but 2003 trips me up because I spent almost ten years of my life hearing “2003 vs 2009″ fandom battles. I can’t experience it apart from that competitive and negatively-spun paratext. It’s ingrained now. I can’t help but feel odd thinking about the 2003 because FMAB is my dear, dear child and 2003 feels like its “competition” or “threat.” Usually that isn’t a problem and I embrace everything in a franchise… but in the world of FMA… I have difficulties emotionally accepting 2003 and it leaves me with mixed thoughts. I hope that doesn’t hurt anyone to hear I feel this way - because I would much rather not have those mixed feelings about 2003. I’d be happier without them. I’m just trying to say: I respect you for not having that baggage!

I’ve noticed that when I talk about FMA 2003 as itself, without any comparison, I have a fun time. Doesn’t matter if I talk constructive analytics or happy-go-nothings, looking at *JUST* 2003 on *ITS OWN* is fun. I’ll talk with people about the ridiculous shenanigans Team Mustang get into, the cool disguises characters wear, the emotional tragedy of Alphonse Heiderich, the deep social commentary in the Ishvalan plot arc, and how hot Roy is with an eyepatch. There’s no sense of “threat” to FMAB that way.

But as soon as I hear comparisons between the two shows, I get edgy and uncomfortable and feel weird. I know some of it is that I place FMAB on a pedestal of reverence and don’t want to hear comparisons that might not mark it “perfect.” But I know some of my discomfort with FMA 2003 vs 2009 conversations is from my experiences with fandom culture. Unfortunately I’ve run into far too many instances of 2003 lovers shitting and speaking critically of FMAB (and vice versa), and I don’t like that climate at all. I don’t want to be involved in that climate of compare, contrast, compete, and Judge (with a capital J). I don’t like people speaking ill of something I love when I’m here on tumblr to have recreation. It’s not that I can’t engage with different perspectives, but this is a place where I’m here to have fun about shows and be a fan of them - not to hear critical negativity. I don’t enjoy that part of fandom culture.

I’m sorry that you’ve probably been in experiences where you’ve seen 2003 bashed because that’s such a damper on a mood, seeing people speak poorly of a thing that’s special to your heart. I sympathize for the negativity culture you might have been exposed to, too. If you need, let’s make a happy bubble here! If you or anyone want to talk happily with me about 2003, or talk about 2003 on its own in any analytical way, I’m up for it, yo! :D Or ANY part of the FMA franchise!

I hope that this long ramble didn’t sound too much like me talking about myself or my experiences… the point is… I love that you feel happy about the 2003 and FMAB and are a fellow FMA fan, and I’d love to experience positivity with you and others who feel that way too!

Just, all I ask, is that no one ask me to get involved in that comparison culture of “which show is better and why”! XD

The Musical Touken Ranbu : Story Asks

So, I saw on my Tumblr dashboard a survey about our opinions and feelings towards Toumyu franchise’s stories and I wanted to answer it. You can find the survey here. Thanks to @rz-jocelyn !

Next, I will answer Song Asks !

1. How did you get into the Musical Touken Ranbu franchise ? What was your first impression of it ?

First, I only knew TKRB through Hanamaru anime, and I remember I didn’t watch it to the end, because there were too much characters with too complicate names, and no real storyline (I discovered next there is one, with Yasusada development). With that, during my very first travel in Japan, I entered a anime goodies shop, and there was a DMM Nitro+ event, because of the 10th anniversary of the studio, with some Dramatical Murder goods, and TKRB as well. I bought some of both, because even if I didn’t know TKRB very well, I had already some attachment to it.

Then, it was last year, during a japanese exposition (Japan Expo) in my town, I saw the Toumyu stand with some live outfits, and I remembered right away I saw once TKRB has musical. And since I was once a J-pop fan, I couldn’t ignore that. So, during my travel in Japan last year, just after Japan Expo, with the rest of money I had at the end of the trip, I bought Tsuwamono triple CD (though I hadn’t listen any song yet !). Then, I came back home, I listened it, and I searched for Toumyu shows. When I found them, I began with Atsukashiyama, and I was « Oh my gosh, this is so cool ! », though sometimes I thought the storyline was a little slow (for example, Imanotsurugi’s scenes. Sorry >_<). Then I watched other musicals, in the right order : Bakumatsu, Mihotose (which I loved a lot because it was so emotional), Tsuwamono (my fav), etc. And I quickly slipped in TKRB hell. Far enough to pull my best friend into it too.

My only regret was I couldn’t see AtsuIbun team’s live at Japan Expo because I was working this day ToT

2. Rank the musicals from the one with the storyline you liked the most to the one with the storyline you liked the least. Why have you chosen to rank them in this order ?

Musical : Tsuwamono > Mihotose > Atsukashiyama 2018 > Atsukashiyama > Musubi > Bakumatsu

SRS & more : SRS16 > SRS17 > SRS18 > Itsukushima

Musical explanation : Tsuwamono was my fav right away, maybe because I listened a bit the songs before to watch the show. I watch it in last, because I wanted to watch the musicals in the order of release, and though I didn’t know Higekiri and Hizamaru yet (I didn’t play the game at that time and I hadn’t watch Zoku Hanamaru yet), I discovered them there, and I loved them right away. I already loved Mikazuki, and the show showed him under a new light. The story was, in my opinion, more complex than the others and it’s why it’s my fav.

Then, there is Mihotose. I cried a lot watching it, especially at the end, and there is my ultimate fav Toudan (Nikkari) in it, so I couldn’t help to like the show o// There were less fights, but more character development, especially Ishikirimaru and a bit Ookurikara.

AtsuIbun 2018, then, because there is the hypothesis Mikazuki acted before the storyline to push Yasuhira to kill Yoshitsune (you can see the lotus flower during the first song, which is a Tsuwamono’s song). I loved that, because it reminds me the loop in Tousute, and now, the fact that Toumyu’s Mikazuki lived a similar things is very high. Poor him ToT he isn’t my fav anymore because Nikkari and Kasen are above him, but I like him a lot. For all of this, I prefer AtsuIbun 2018 than AtsuIbun 2015.

I liked Musubi, the story is quite good, but somehow, I’m not found of it. I like the fact Mutsunokami killed Hijikata to relieve Izuminokami and Horikawa’s soul, I like all about Mutsunokami in it, his energy, his joy and how he didn’t mind when Izuminokami is wrong about him. But that’s all. I don’t really know how to explain it, I like Musubi, but not a lot (you can see it because I don’t talk a lot about the storyline). Just, I really dislike when all the Shinsengumi’s swords cried at the end, when Hijikata died. It’s far too much

And finally Bakumatsu. The storyline is good, I can’t tell the contrary, but I’m not a Shinsengumi’s fan. I like Izuminokami a lot, and Horikawa as well, but when I watched the show for the first time, I was very neutral towards the others. Yasusada annoyed me already because of Hanamaru and in the show I hated is glossy lips xD Sorry, I watched the show only once, and I don’t really remember what it happened.

SRS & more explanation : I will make it shorter it, don’t worry ! My fav SRS is 2017 I think, though I like a lot 2018 because of so much things in it, but if I keep only the storyline, I think the best is 2016. The battle between the two teams is very good, funny and interesting, while in the others, we only have a story telling game and a matsuri battle. There is no real storyline in them. Itsukushima hasn’t either, only a picture of praying in a sacred place.

3. Storyline that you would change ? Why ?

I don’t know at all, because I don’t know what to put instead. Maybe I would change Musubi to add more Kane’s character development about his feelings towards Mutsu. I mean, at the beginning he hates him, and despite the fact that Mutsu killed Hijikata, we don’t have a proper dialogue between Kane and Mutsu after this. Does Kane still hate Mutsu or not ? Does he begin to understand him ? We could say he doesn’t, because he still argues with him in SRS18. What a pity D:

4. Favorite scene or moment ? Why ?

Ah, there are so much scenes I love, it’s hard to choose only one ! Okay, I will pick some of them.

First, there is the departure scene in AtsuIbun (2015 and 2018). It’s so funny when all the Sanjou did so much useless things, with Mika who drinked his tea, Kogi who chased after his hair like a dog after his tail, Imano and Iwato who played together… I laugh so hard each time I watch it !

I also love the little moment when, in Tsuwamono, Kogi didn’t agree with how Mika split the team in two. « Why you chose to split like this ? Why am I not with you ? » « Kogitsunemaru-dono, don’t tell me… ! » I like a lot this BL implied, because I’m a fujoshi >//o//<

The last one is during SRS17, at the end, when Nikkari came to tell a ghost story, and he told his own story instead. But he couldn’t finish it, because of Imanotsurugi and Ishikirimaru, and they ended to sing « Te no Hira », while they hold each other hands, with Imanotsurugi between them like if he pictured the spiritual world which links Nikkari and Ishikirimaru together. Gnnff my heart… <3

5. Least favorite scene or moment ? Why ?

When Toudans are going crazy to want to meet their former master, without consider the mission, like Yasusada and Imanotsurugi did… At least, Imano was cute and happy when he discovered Yoshitsune was alive, so I can deal with it, but Yasusada is a big NO. Sorry for those who like him.

6. Scene or moment that you would change ? Why ?

Why do you ask me to change so much things ? I don’t want to change anything in Toumyu xD Even what I don’t like ! Well, okay, I will answer. The only scene I would change is when Ishikirimaru and Nikkari were talking together in Mihotose, during the mission (when Ishi apologies because he said once if Nikkari isn’t a sacred sword, it’s because he killed a child), I would like a deeper development about Nikkari. I think, for him, his nature is like a complex, though he looks like to really accept it and manages to live with it. He doesn’t mind when others consider him as a ghost sword, but a complex is a deep thing hidden inside of us, and a few words can’t just make it vanish. At the end of the scene, Nikkari smiled and said Ieyasu couldn’t become a god without help, so he joined the family, but his complex is still there, I think. I need something more detailed about it.

7. Which storyline would you want to see adapted in future musicals ?

I would like to see a storyline in modern era, for example. Maybe when swords will interact with modern people, who could ask why they are dressed like this, or why they hold swords, etc. I think it could be interesting !

Moreover, more History about Nikkari will be really fine o// (okay, it’s because I love him so much, sorry ! :D) We could have a real character development, maybe we could see his former master slays the ghosts with the ootachi who was Nikkari before to be a wakizashi. And if the HRA attacked the samurai before it killed the ghosts, how Nikkari would have react ? If he didn’t kill the ghost, he could be a completly different person, and maybe Ishikirimaru (I want he is there) could try to correct History in order to make Nikkari who he usually is.

8. Favorite Musical Touken Ranbu character ? Why ? How is the musical version of him different from how he is portrayed in the game and other media ?

Nikkari. I love him whatever the version. In the musical, he is portrayed cuter than in the anime or in the game. He could make cute moves and it makes my heart squeeshed so hard >//o//< I love too how he could looks scary because he doesn’t blink at all sometimes and he has a monotone voice, just like a ghost. I think he is pictured more like a normal person in the anime (but with some eccentric moments though).

9. Least favorite Musical Touken Ranbu character ? Why ? How is the musical version of him different from how he is portrayed in the game and other media ?

Nagasone, but I don’t dislike him more in Toumyu than in the other media. It’s just I’m not found of the character, though sometimes I can think he is cool or cute with Hachisuka or Mutsu (in Musubi and SRS18), but that’s all. I’m very neutral towards him.

10. The Top 3 actors whom you like best and whose portrayal of their character you like best.

T3 best actors : Sakiyama Tsubasa > Kuroba Mario > Kitazono Ryo

I don’t really know the actors beside Tsubasa and Mario since I read some translations of their blog (thanks to the translators ^-^). Tsubasa is really, really cute, and I love how found he is of TKRB and his own character.

T3 best portrayals : Oota Motohiro (Sengo) > Araki Hirofumi (Nikkari) > Oohira Shunya (Imanotsurugi)

All the actors do a great job, but when I see some moves of them sometimes, I think they worked a lot to understand the character and bring it to life.

11. The Top 3 actors whom you least like and whose portrayal of their character you least like.

There are a lot of actors I don’t know at all, but the only one I can say I’m not sure if I like him or not is Araki Hirofumi. Sometimes, he looks so much like a bad guy ToT But the fact is, I can’t say if I dislike him or not because I don’t know him well and personally, I named him here only considering his appearance.

Then, there is no-one I don’t like the portray in Toumyu. I think all the actors are very good and well chosen for them. Now, it only depends on if we like the character or not.

12. A Touken Danshi character that you would like to see in future musicals ? Why ?

Kasen Kanesada ! I want to see him interacts with his brother, and I think the character suits very well to musicals. The best is Kasen and Shokudaikiri together, of course ^o^ But since Osafune swords appeared in Tousute and Kasen is in Tousute too, I think it’s only a dream 

I would like to see Hotarumaru too, but, again, I think it would be impossible to portray him on stage, because he is a child with an ootachi on his back… Though he is so cute…

Then, I think Kotegiri Gou suits a lot for Toumyu, because he talked about modern sing and dance in his recollection with Kasen.

13. An actor you would like to see in future musicals ? Why ?

Shokudaikiri’s actor in Tousute is a so good singer, I would like he portrays him in Toumyu too ! And with Kasen as well ! If Wada Takuma is a good singer, I’ll take him too, if not, I’m fine with another actor, like they did with Ookurikara and Mikazuki.

14. Favorite in-story Touken Danshi pair/trio/quartet dynamics ? Why ?

Ah, again, it’s really hard choose only one. Here are several ones :

Higekiri/Hizamaru pair. I love their dynamics, how Hige always forget his brother’s name, but sometimes he picks the right one, and how Hiza wants to make his brother proud and be valuable for him. I also love how Hiza is very reliable though he is the young brother and how Hige is a free-wheeler (like a Sanjou !).

Nikkari/Ishikirimaru pair. Of course ! I’m an IshiKari fan, after all. I like their friendship, the fact they are linked to spiritual world. They are really different, but they really like each other. Ishi always thinks to Nikkari, to add him in the dynamics (like in SRS18, when he decided to join him in matsuri battle). I like them a lot ^-^

Mikazuki/Kogitsunemaru pair. Mikazuki is like a king, or a queen, with so much power, and with something like a etheral presence. He seems to be, to live, to watch upon and beyond the world, and that makes him act strangely sometimes. Kogi is like a valet. He watches on Mika in the darkness, behind him, so Mika can’t see it (but he sees it !), and he tries to understand him and watch on what Mika does. They are really different, it’s why Kogi sometimes doesn’t understand Mika and why they fight each other in Tsuwamono. Each time Kogi tries to understand Mika, Mika keeps things in his heart because he is watching to far. I’m waiting for the time he will be honest with Kogi. For me, their relationship is like a fate love ^-^

15. Least favorite in-story Touken Danshi pair/trio/quartet dynamics ? Why ?

Maybe Shinsengumi’s swords ? Kiyomitsu with the Sanjou was really fine, but all the Shinsengumi’s swords was too much for me. I’m not found of this storyline, not found of Nagasone nor Hachisuka (even though I’m able to like him in SRS), not found of Yasusada in Bakumatsu. They are too much versed in fight and in honor, but I’m not mad with it, after all, they are Shinsengumi’s swords.

16. Favourite in-story overall Touken Danshi group dynamics ? Why ?

Sanjou. I like all of them, Imanotsurugi and Iwatooshi’s energy and cheerfulness, Ishikirimaru’s calmness and peaceful personality, KogiMika pair (with Kogi who always calls back Mika, who wants to do what he wants). They look very close, and they always watch upon each other.

And we could add to them Higekiri, since he could have been smithed by Sanjou too, and Hizamaru, since he is his brother. What a lovely group, there ^o^

17. Least favorite in-story overall Touken Danshi group dynamics ? Why ?

Nobunaga’s swords. I’m not found about Nobunaga in TKRB, because there are so much Toudans who speak about him, there are several stage who speak about him, and a movie now. Enough with Nobunaga D: I know, he is one of the most liked historical people in Japan, but there are already too much things about him. Because of that, I don’t really like Nobunaga’s swords dynamics. Though I like Hasebe, Souza, Yagen and the others as well, when they don’t talk about him. When they talk about Nobunaga, it’s like a dramatical dialogue which isn’t really a dialogue because no-one wants to talk about him. Meh.

18. Based on the existing characters in the Musical Touken Ranbu franchise, who would you select to be on your dream Touken Ranbu 6-swords team ?

Nikkari Aoe, Ishikirimaru, Kasen Kanesada, Izuminokami Kanesada, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Gokotai.

They aren’t really the strongers of their types but I like them a lot. I can’t pick Kasen without his brother, and Kane without Mutsu (BECAUSE I SHIP THEM). I can’t pick Nikkari without Ishikirimaru (for the same reason), and Gokotai is so cute ^o^

In my dream team, they are all kiwame. Great job, everyone !

19. Favorite Human character ? Why ?

Hashiba Masanobu Sorry, sorry, it’s an OC xD

I don't really have a favorite, but I like Gohei and his story. I wants to learn how to fight in order to be able to protect his sister, but even with that, he couldn't save her. He lost all his family because of war...

20. Favorite overall Human team dynamics ? Why ?

Well, it’s strange, because I don’t like the dynamics of their swords, but my favorite Human team is the Shinsengumi, I think. I like their relationship, how they care about each other, their jokes, etc.

21. Favorite Touken Danshi-Human character dynamics ? Why ?

I really like the relationship between Mikazuki and Yasuhira in Tsuwamono. Mikazuki came a lot to visit him, and he said Yasuhira and him are similar (though I don't understand why). He has a lot of respect for him, and some feelings as well, we can see it when they made their farewells. They are on the verge to cry. I would like a deeper development about them ^-^

22. Least favorite Touken Danshi-Human character dynamics ? Why ?

I don't know at all, I skip.

23. Favorite quote(s) and/or character dialogue from the musicals ?

I think one of the dialogues I like the most is, during Musubi, when Tomoe asks to Horikawa if Retrogrades are swords with no story. Horikawa says he doesn't have to think to this, without really answer the question, and I like that kind of dramatical mindfuck.

24. Quote(s) and/or character dialogue from the game that ou would liked to see adapted in the musicals ?

I would like to see the recollection n°49, when Kotegiri says to Kasen he wants to sing and dance in the modern style. It suits very well to Toumyu, especially during live !

25. What is you overall opinion of the Musical Touken Ranbu franchise ? Has your opinion changed from your first impression ?

I love Toumyu. I like the characters, the stories, the songs. The stories aren't as complex as in Tousute, so the both stage are complementary. The screenplay is always very good, and the fights as well. I like the fact they make concerts every year (SRS) to gather all the characters, it's the best way to enjoy a lot of songs and their dynamics as a group.

My opinion didn't change a lot, I'm just now more into it, and I know well the characters and the stories.

*SPOILERS* CYZJ Subbed Ep. 9 reaction

Episode 9 is finally out with subs, so you know what that means: another play-by-play reaction text post! And it’s another 2-hour episode, so we’re back to the super long format.

As with previous installments, each major section of the show has a header so you can scroll if you’re looking for something specific. And, of course, spoilers and foul language kinda come with the territory.

Mission reveal and song assignments

Another two performance mission assignment – picking the third finalist pair and then establishing a ranking for the finalists – because they just gotta be ranked going into the finals *rolls eyes* - I could rant about how much I wish the producers would stop pushing the competitive aspect of the show while talking about it being about “breakthroughs”

Hao’s little goddamnit-esque laugh when the 1v1 mission is announced :/

Anybody else get the feeling Victor’s the reason Eric & JC are worried about the other team picking their song? Like Hao might give them something out of left field because he wants them to show a new side or because he thinks it suits them, but not to torpedo them – Victor, however, seems a bit of a wild card

…! I seriously thought Eric had the card down the front of his pants for a moment there!

Aw, Hao’s smile is so sweet – I already knew Eric/JC got to do one of Eric’s songs – that little “you’re welcome” bow & Victor being totally checked out makes me think that was all Hao’s doing

So, yes & no – I expected Victor to at least playfully push to mess w/ the other team – he seems kinda disengaged though

Wait, is that Hao’s handwriting?! I was admiring it when Eric first revealed the card – I know people who only know English who don’t write that nicely – kid’s definitely an artist

“How can I not be satisfied with my own song?” XD

Aw, that was really sweet of Victor to say he hopes they don’t mess w/ the song too much

I love that when Victor asks “by who” Eric & Xiao Wu both go “Drake” w/ a very soft “duh, who the fuck else” feel – and then Hao gets stoked when they start singing it

Yes! I’m so glad Jiacheng said that about Hao & Victor’s performances not being them together! I thought it about the last 2 performances, but since I didn’t really see anyone else talk about it, I wondered if it was just me. Plus there’s the whole cultural disconnect & not being part of the target demographic that added to it. It’s good to see someone who’s in the thick of it with them recognize that same thing

I want to talk about the warm fuzzy feelings I get from Eric & Jiacheng being so thoughtful about their choice and how this reinforces my desire for the show to stop leaning into the competition narrative, but Eric mimicking both Hao & Victor is too cute

I love that Jiacheng doesn’t know how to process Eric’s goofiness for a second – same Xiao Wu, same

Aw, the doodles!

Hao’s “don’t say anything” is great! – take a stand & make Victor dance!

Second mission reveal

“Sprint Out” Attack? And that means…?

Meh… Another drawn out process to pick a collaborator? - it was cute w/ the ladies but since I haven’t seen anyone talking about the guests and the tease at the beginning of the episode was blah, I’m not really looking forward to it

Trying to ignore the elevator talk and not roll my eyes too hard

Meeting the musicians

Oh dear god, Yanan is so fucking cute watching Liron Man play! – tell me someone’s giffed that doofy expression and weird little wiggle! *heart eyes*

Ooh, Liron Man’s got a great smile – has nothing to do w/ anything but I couldn’t leave it unremarked upon

I love MH’s logic! Victor’s trying to downplay any romantic intention behind calling out a female artist by saying it’s about respect & admiration, so Hao throws out Jony J & Gong Ge - if it’s about respect & admiration he’s not wrong, but Victor’s face says otherwise – I laughed so hard I had to stop the video and go calm down by doing a load of laundry

I’ve gotta say, as someone who liked both JJ & GG from the beginning & still really likes them and as someone who started watching specifically for Minghao, I love that he brought them up again and in such a positive light. Fans can – and do – hate on them, but he’s got every right to continue to look up to them. He’s the one who was directly affected by their actions, yet he continues to admire them and voice that admiration. I don’t get how people try to drag them on his behalf when he says things like this.

Aw, it breaks my heart a little that Victor thinks making the song about the show is “limiting” their creativity – Hao’s had a lot of fun and had made connections on the show that he obviously values – how is making an ode to that a limitation?

I love when Hao speaks in English – it always surprises me how rich & deep his voice is – like I usually chalk it up to being an artifact of the language, but it’s genuinely appealing – does that make sense? Just me?

Am I the only one who thinks changing the names to their own makes it about self-doubt, not narcissism?

Overall thoughts: I loved that! It wasn’t perfect, but I think, after Clap, it was Hao’s best performance by far. He definitely had fun and loosened up with Supernatural in ep.8, but this was a whole other level and I think a lot of it was from actually playing w/ Victor during the performance. I love that they switched it up and Victor had the vocal parts; he’s a talented singer so it was nice seeing him step out of the rapper role. And I was really impressed with Hao’s English. A lot of times, non-English-speakers do odd things with their emphasis on words, but he was pretty damn spot on. It makes me wonder just how fluent he actually is since we don’t see him speak it much beyond simple phrases. The one thing I wasn’t entirely feeling was Victor’s rap. It felt a little rushed? Cramped? It’s understandable since he’s working within a pre-existing song, but it did stick out to me. I don’t know why Victor was worried about dancing. That bit was less choreography and more conscious swagger, if that makes sense, and he pulled it off swimmingly. I wish they hadn’t cut to the audience during Hao’s dance break because it was my favorite one he’s done so far – less artistry and more simple fun. Can we take a moment to thank Eric & Jiacheng for making this gem happen?

Overall thoughts: I was sniffly & teary, but I managed not to cry. That was beautiful. This is why I was worried when they were talking about making a more impressive set design in ep. 8. They do simple so, so well, and they really don’t need a bunch of extras. Just having that one element of the comments playing behind them was so gorgeous and impactful. I’m really glad that they didn’t have accompanists on stage with them because they’d just be a visual distraction. I know I’ve talked about it in previous reactions, but the combination of their voices is incredible. I doubt Eric has ever sung a sour note in his life, and I wish Jiacheng knew how gorgeous his voice really is. His little power vocal moment toward the end? Ugh! So good! I’m gonna keep saying how happy I am that they got to work together because of this show.

I hate this fucking setup so much. I’ve said that I think the way Jony J left the show was probably at least partially prompted by the production staff. Knowing that Jun was given options after Yanan left and that, for all his extraness, Jun is super shy, I have a hard time believing the production staff didn’t go, “So you don’t want to be in the running anymore and ~play by the rules~? Okay, so how about we make it look like there’s gonna be an elimination then you come out and dramatically withdraw? Wouldn’t that be awesome!” Jun’s never been my favorite because his playfulness can come of really childish to me, but I highly doubt he would put Minghao this scenario again for funsies.

Having seen translations of this weeks ago when the episode aired, I was not prepared to tear up. It hurts to see Hao so freaked out again and try to pull Jun back bodily. And seeing the distress on Jiacheng’s face as he says “no!” at him, my breath caught in my throat. Ugh! I’m seriously starting to cry watching JC panic more as Jun compliments them all. X(

Oh god that whole bit after the interview section was… weird. It’s pretty obvious the way Eric & Jiacheng are smiling in the background that things were cleared up. But that audience reaction… It’s so cold? This weird sort of idea that idols “betray” their fans is something I’ll never understand in kpop. (This is taking into account all the chaos that happened because of Jun’s decision, not just what made the edit.) Disappointment I get, but there’s no compassion for the grace he displayed in a shitty situation or relief that he’s going to continue performing. This whole situation was made so much worse being in front of a live audience.

The interviews after Jun’s reveal are so sweet, but why does it feel like a memorial? It’s just shy of saying “in loving memory of Wen Junhui”

I love when the show has to blur someone’s phone because it’s not the sponsor phone – it’s usually Samuel, but this time Eric’s the culprit

Interesting thoughts about the Mechanical Era – it seems like Peiru’s a good match for Hao

So the interview thing is the only lead up we get? I don’t want to episode to be 3 hours, but they’ve got such an interesting story they want to tell and Peiru seems like such a character, I was really looking forward to the preparations – now I do actually feel a little cheated

Overall thoughts: I may have actually liked this performance better than In My Feelings. It wasn’t as entertaining, but it was a cool concept that was executed really well. I’ve gotta say before I go on though, I’ve seen people complain about the editing of other performances, but this is the first one that’s been distracting to me throughout. :/ If I didn’t know before going in that Victor was supposed to be the narrator, I don’t think I would’ve gotten that. The harsh stage whisper sort of effect in the beginning comes off kind of judgmental and, well, harsh where I was expecting more of an impartial observer style narrator. I wish his character had either done less interacting (to be an observer) or done more (to show his investment in the storyline and justify the judginess). It was a nice change of pace to see him being subdued while Hao was the higher energy partner. Hao’s rap in both performances this episode was great. They felt more natural and less stylized, which I really dig. He also showed his vocals more here than I think he really has in a while. At least it was more impactful than past performance. I would love to see a purely vocal song from him – no rap, light choreo – because he does really interesting things with his voice and we don’t get enough of it. [I just got a flash of him singing w/ Susu O.O] The choreo was impressive even if the edit made it hard to get the full effect. The end was great with the angry faces and the final little trill of the pipa.

It weirdly warms my heart to see them acknowledge they’ve been kind of at odds in their partnership up til now

Overall thoughts: I really enjoyed that. It was soft and sweet, and of course their voices are amazing. The set design was really pretty with all the florals. For some reason, thought, for most of the song Eric seemed strangely pulled back? Maybe it was because Xiao Wu was still on a high from the previous performance and the pipa is so distinct, but his parts just got overpowered to my ear. It was still beautiful.

Huh, Samuel really hasn’t gotten much screentime in this episode, even for reactions

Maybe it’s because he’s a good bit older, but I really appreciate the way Wangtao talks about Zhennan here – at least I assume he’s referring to Zhennan since Samuel seems pretty cool with being a kid – it doesn’t soften me to him, but it’s a needed reminder that his bravado may be more façade than arrogance – still find it annoying though *shrug*

Anyone else have to look up what an elaphure is? – it’s a Père David’s deer

Excuse me, mister clarinet man, don’t make me start thinking clarinets are sexy – I’ve already resigned myself to the fact that I’m probably gonna look up your music but that’s just taking it too far!

Overall thoughts: For anyone who thinks I’m just going to shit all over this because it’s Zhennan and Samuel, you’re wrong. I actually kind of dug that. It’s not really my bag, but I don’t dislike it at all. First off, the stage design is impressive with that cube setup. It’s really interesting having Wangtao on top of it (but also, get off the tall thing!). I would love to see a fixed cam of the performance to get the full effect. I really liked Zhennan’s solo in ep. 2, so seeing him go back to that sleepy, almost lazy delivery style is really nice. I’ve complained about him leaning too hard into his imagery (or did I cut that bit because I was being an ass?), but it was used beautifully here. Samuel really impressed me. His rap style still sounds a little like he’s trying to be someone else, but it didn’t sound awkward this time. It’ll be really interesting to see where his style goes as he comes into his own. And these are his best lyrics yet. Yes, I snorted at the LeBron reference in the otherwise whimsical song, but I really liked the honestly and depth. The dance break was beautiful and a nice escape from the more stock mainstream choreo Samuel’s been showing us. He does hip hop well, but I’m glad he gave us something more contemporary here and showed off his range. If I have a complaint it’s that Samuel’s voice gets lost in the “I don’t want” bits. I wish they’d at least brought him forward so you hear him more, or better yet, given him something a little more ornate to weave around Zhennan’s more drudging sound. His little vocalization before ZN’s final part was a pleasant surprise, and I would’ve liked more of that. They’ve made the best use of the accompanist so far, too. The whole thing was lovely and haunting and understated. Of all their stages, I think this performance has been the most effective in delivering the message they wanted to get across.

Overall thoughts: If you’d told me before this that I would eagerly watch a Jun solo three times in a row, I would’ve laughed in your face. His style just isn’t for me usually. And yet, I watched this three times in a row (I zoned out and just listened to first time, watched the second, and read the lyrics the third). Thank you, Yanan, for picking the handpan. I never would’ve thought the distorted ring of a handpan would complement Jun’s very unique vocal quality as well as it does. This is the most at ease we’ve seen Jun on the show, and I don’t mean relaxed or confident. It didn’t seem at all like he was performing or was “on” but like he was singing for the sheer personal pleasure of it. After his stress in previous episodes, it was so good to see. As for the song itself, I have no fucking clue how to describe it. It reminded me of the weirdest things without really sounding like any of them. I mentioned Pure Moods, but also The Little Mermaid and “What Is Love” – as in the song from A Night at the Roxbury (listen to it, young’uns, and be confused). There were others, but I’ve blanked because that last one was a little too wtf.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad my boys are leading, but they all gave incredibly good, polished stages and those scores really don’t seem to reflect that. I mean, they’ve given out 80s before – are the panelists given criteria or is it purely a matter of preference? – the contestants all look a little disappointed with the scores, too

Like… like I had this vague hope that somehow he’d come back, ten, twenty episodes from now. Hell, maybe close to the end, he’d just come back.
