Bit of a slower than anticipated start to my 2020 reading challenge. It’s been a busy month of getting moved in and settled into my new apartment (very pleased with how my reading corner turned out though! 😍) and the tempo with course I was teaching was quite high up until this week. So with that in mind, reading took a bit of a back seat. • Regardless, I was able to read three really good books to kick off 2020! These included the 4th book in Richard Sharpe series where Ensign Sharpe finds himself fighting under Lord Horatio Nelson at the battle of Trafalgar, A compilation of some of Malcolm Gladwell’s most prolific articles from his writings at the New York Times, and a re-read from when I first started University where Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield explains how he become an Astronaut and offers friendly advice on how anybody on Earth my achieve there goals. • Hopefully I can match this reading output with another busy month ahead of me. I’m flying out to Kingston, Ontario for a course in the morning for a couple of weeks and then right back into teaching a field oriented Army Leadership Course when I return. In 2012/2013 my good buddy @bobbypontillas and I started pitching short films @disneyanimation ! These beat boards were used to help illustrate our short #onesmallstep ! At the time we were playing with the idea of telling the short from the perspective of shoes...using her feet as a major story point. Thematically it was a little different too, we had the protagonist achieve a different dream than the one she set out for. Our main character would go through an injury that would enable her to walk, she’d become a teacher and help another achieve their dream and eventually she would learn to walk again, which redefined the title “One Small Step”. I had a blast developing this idea, the core story of a young lady watching the first moon walk in 1969 and growing up with dreams of shooting for the stars. It was partly inspired by a 🇨🇦 hero of mine @colchrishadfield after reading his book. If you haven’t seen the finished short yet, head over to @taikostudios and click the link in their description! Jupiter's moon Ganymede is the largest satellite in the solar system. Larger than Mercury and Pluto, and only slightly smaller than Mars, it would easily be classified as a planet if were orbiting the sun rather than Jupiter. . The moon likely has a salty ocean underneath its icy surface, making it a potential location for life. The European Space Agency plans a mission to Jupiter's icy moons that in 2030, is planned to arrive and put special emphasis on observing Ganymede. . Ganymede was discovered by Galileo Galilei on Jan. 7, 1610. The discovery, along with three other Jovian moons, was the first time a moon was discovered orbiting a planet other than Earth.
