So yah it was really important to destroy that robalia bitch and the way she tried to maks hip hop nonsensical coz flamenco and cante gitanos was important for blues and then you wouldn't have hip hop without those classcal/goth sounds... you see goth ain't even european. That is my point... but it also didn't came from africa... in the end if it wasn't for the romani those sounds wouldn't sound the same. In the end of the day hip hop was loosing it just for the fact there's no theory to explain certain aspects of it so everybody can just come and try to make sense of it.

Ok this is gonna sound really silly but I looked inside myself and this was the first to come to my mind (I mean this and littering but the latter makes me more sad + irritated and this just makes me irritated fsjh) but ok here it goes. The swedish words De (they) and Dem (them)* often get mixed up and I mean I 10000% understand that, it is hard sometimes (especially if you’re not swedish) but whenever I see “dem” used when “de” should be used it stings a little and on top of that both of them are pronounced “dom”, which adds to the confusion. But “dom” is also 100% usuable in written language nowadays and dgfghf seeing that extra “m” on a “de” word just.. looks weird to me and dfgjkhsad. However if “de” is used where “dem” should be I am 100000% fine and calm with it.

In conclusion an extra “m” just makes me irritated lmao

(It might have been this one because this was supposed to go BEFORE all our wonderland logo progress stuff... I can’t remember how many I deleted now. At least these are all annotated so I don’t have to write them up again.)

We had a class call and talked to Will about our ideas, he liked the name Wonderland for our studio, so we went with that. We also, as a class, made or more like edited some working from home struggles posters. The people that had illustrator edited it themselves but in our group, Rahems was lagging and Abid wasn’t present really. So we sent them straight to Will. The text had to be lowercase and could only be the basic printing colours CMYK. Quote in the middle and name at the end. I’ve been having a lot of back pain recently from sitting at my desk all day, and taking breaks to lie flat on the floor for some relief so that’s been very annoying. I requested mine to be “bones, stiff. back, hurt.” I thought the bluntness of that was kinda funny and also very representative of my mood.

Also, can we talk about how concerning it is that Abid GENUINELY enjoys working from home every day??? Couldn’t be me. Rahems’ is relatable, we’d all like a break from the blonde mop babbling rubbish all day “Stay safe indoors! You can go out, but make sure to stay inside, outside!” making us do the hokey pokey or something. Emma’s is just #americangirlthings. Jerins is true because she’s like the mom of the group projects, always trying to get the boys to work... but alas, her efforts are futile...

MORINO HAJIMARI セルフライナーノーツ⑥ 5.  Kaamos

フィンランド語で「極夜」を意味するカーモス。2曲目に収録されているSkábma(スカーマ)は意味は同じだけどこちらはサーミ語。

極夜というのは

極夜（きょくや、英語: polar night）とは、日中でも薄明か、太陽が沈んだ状態が続く現象のことをいい、厳密には太陽の光が当たる限界緯度である66.6度を超える南極圏や北極圏で起こる現象のことをいう。対義語は白夜。

前作の「星のピアノ」もそうだったけど今作も「夜」が関係した曲が多い。なぜだろう。初期の頃はFullerene、Komorebiとか太陽の出ている時間の曲が多かったのだけど。内省的な方向に向かっているのかもしれません。

焚火の音から始まるイントロ。この焚火の音はずっと前、真冬に訪れた白川郷で実際の焚火(日本昔話に出てくるような感じ)をレコーダーで録音した音を使っています。焚火の音を聞くだけで温度を感じるし、暖かく感じます。

核となるリフを奏でるピアノはuna corda。Skábmaでも使っています。この曲ではそこまで深くリバーブをかけてなくて家で弾いてる雰囲気を出しました。

凍えるような寒さの中、漂うように��場するバイオリンはTINÖRKSに参加してもらっているharakanaさんのトラック。リバーブ有り無しの2つのトラックを送ってもらってバランスを調整しています。元々のバイオリンのトラックがダイナミックレンジが広く、表現力が存分に感じられるものなので、その良さを壊さないようにミックスでは少し力強さを加えるのと他トラックになじませるだけにしました。バイオリンにかけた実際のプラグインの設定は後ほど紹介。(harakanaさん、素敵なトラックありがとう！！)

「Kaamos」(カーモス)のアートワークで使用しているのは大台ケ原の正木峠にある大きな枯れ木を見上げたもの。これをINFINITE COLORのプラグインをフォトショップに入れて質感を変えました。アルバム「MORINO HAJIMARI」で使用している画像の編集はすべてこのプラグインで調整しています。

明るさや質感をランダムに変えてくれる便利なソフト。とりあえずポチポチ質感を変えて、いい感じのものをスナップショットで一時保存して、ある程度溜まったらその中からぐっとくるものを選び、細かに設定を調整していきます。

画像は枯れ木がまるで稲妻を発しているような雰囲気で、曲名の極夜とは関係ないですが、写真の持つダークな雰囲気が個人的にとてもしっくりきています。

KaamosはTINÖRKSでは珍しくマイナーな曲調で詩の内容はダークな雰囲気です。暗闇の中でさまよい、おびえながらも、自らかすかな光を灯して夜明けを目指そうということがテーマとしてありました。

淡々としたピアノの演奏は夜を表していて、そこでぽつぽつ灯る明かりを雫が演奏するlap harpの音色やメロディーに込めました。そこにバイオリンの弦の響きが加わることで、暗闇の中で揺れ動く心の動きを表せたらというアレンジを意図しています。

後半部直前にある台風の前の静けさのようなセクションを挟んで、重量のあるドラムが登場するメインセクションへ展開。ときおりフィルインで入る「ブーン」というSEは極夜を支配する暗闇のカーテン、つまりダークサイドを表していて、これをぬぐいさるようにヴォーカルが進行、けれどバイオリンの音の響きで感情は揺さぶられていると。

後半部に関していうと、影響を受けたのがNetflixで鑑賞したドイツのドラマ「DARK」(ダーク)。世界観が素晴らしく、登場人物が多いのと、ストーリが難��なんですが、とても面白くてはまりました。(脚本家の人、天才やと思う)時間のループがテーマでひとことで説明できないほどミステリアスなストーリーです。

ドイツのミュージシャンApparat(アパラット)の 「Goodbye」 feat. Soap&Skinの主題歌もかなり良くて、その世界観にとても影響を受けました。3連符の弦と重さと暗さを感じるピアノの組み合わせにアートを感じるほど素晴らしい音作りだなあと感動しました。

暗闇というのは何も明るさの度合いではなくて、未来がないというか可能性を感じられない時や無力を感じる時、感情を出せない時などにも感じる感覚のような気もします。

個人的にやっぱり今の閉そく感が蔓延している世の中は生きづらさを感じる。閉そく感は少なくとも20年前から始まっていると思うのですが、何でも自己責任で片付けられ、そしてスモールコミュニティも形成されぬまま社会が変貌していくのは、何か違和感があるし、その方向は違うと思っています。自分さえよかったらいい、強者がすべてという排他的グローバリズムの先には絶望しか感じない。

そうではなくて、それぞれがまずは自分の心と体を大切にしながら、無理をせず、やりたいことにチャレンジができて、そして他人に協力してスモールコミュニティの中で、自分のできることをやっていく。しんどい時は休めるし、元気な時は頑張ればいいし、生きていくために必要なものをコミュニティの中でお互いにシェアできるような環境。力のある人は力の弱い人を助けて全体として未来につなげていく。こうすべきとか、こうあるべきという日本独特の空気感に支配されず、強要されず、強要せず。

まずは自分を肯定し、他人の価値観を尊重して、他人に踏み込まず、けれど良い距離感で生きていく。明日におびえて暮らすのではなくて、生きていて良かったと思えるような人生を送れることが決して特別なことではなく、それが日常である世の中がいいなあと思っています。

ある意味逆説的だけど、ダークな曲からあえて理想とする希望を導き出すような曲がこのKaamosかなと、この記事を書いていて思いました。

ここからは バイオリンにかけた実際のプラグインの設定を公開します。マニアックな内容です(笑)

WAVES MV2で音量の小さな所を少し持ち上げます。outputは後々のことを考え余裕を持たせるために-0.5に設定。コンプを使うと質感が変わるのでその方向はやめました。重要なのは元々の演奏の雰囲気を壊さずに自然な感じで音量を整えること。

MV2で音量を整えた後はWAVES Vitaminをかけます。Strings1のプリセットを編集して倍音を付加、少し力強さを加味しています。変にゲインを上げたり、EQで調整するよりも倍音で前に出す方向の方が自然な感じになりやすいです。

音量調整→力強さを加えた後は、これまでのプラグインで出過ぎた帯域、余計な帯域をfabfilter Pro Q3でカット。特に他のトラックとぶつかっているセンターの帯域を結構カットして逆に広域のサイドをブーストしているのがポイント。これも音が極端に変化しないギリギリで調整。あと、輪郭を丸くしたいので広域は削ってます。ちなみにこのプラグインが便利すぎてかなり重宝しています。個人的プラグインベスト3に入るくらい優れていると思います。

Pro Q3で周波数を整えた後はWAVES GW ToneCentricでいい感じに(笑) プロデューサー　グレッグ・ウェルズのシグネチャープラグインを使って味付け。基本的な調整は真ん中のノブひとつだけ。エンハンス、音を強調させるためのプラグインで、うっすらとかけているのですが、多分コンプとかEQとかエキサイターとか色々裏で動いていると思われます。これも音が極端な変化にならないように注意しました。前段のEQで失われたものを補う感じの意図です。

最後にWAVES NLS Channelで味付け。 エンジニアのMark Stent(マークステント)氏が所有するコンソールを再現したSPIKEの設定を使用してDRIVEのつまみで倍音を少しプラス。隠し味的な暖かさを加えました。プラグインは以上で、ステレオパンを-25で左に設定。音量バランスはフェーダーをオートメーションで書き込んでより自然な音量バランスで聞こえる様にしました。

生楽器でコンプを強くかけるのは個人的にうまくいかないことが多いので、OPT系のコンプで整えることはあっても、オートメーションで最終的に調整した方がいい感じになると思いました。
