It's actually iconic, I've seen Odd as bi, gay, aroace, enby, trans, and y'know what? All are correct actually. 100%. Everyone is right here I think, and I love it

"Okay she met her gf who she (and gf) thought was an AI in a supercomputer and decided that she wanted to get her Out of there, causing another AI (an actual AI this time) to try to kill everyone multiple times, causing multiple timeline resets and sooooo much trauma. That's just how it is tbh, they're french what do you expect. Anyways she's very introverted, constantly pulling all nighters, coooonstantly sooo fuckin paranoid and stressed, etc. Her friends call her "Einstein" because she's a genius (and also literally has a poster of albert einstein on her wall so-), to the point where she literally fails tests purposely to avoid being put in a GATE school.

Also she canonically hacks the french government multiple times and commits crimes such as, ofc, hacking, stealing from a school credit card, human cloning (not sure if that's Illegal but it sure is morally unsound!), forgery, identity theft / impersonation, etc... and this is a protagonist of a y7 TV show! code lyoko, aelita, and neurodivergence

hi-ho! i'm rhubarb. i'm autistic. and a big fan of code lyoko. it's been a hyperfixation of mine on and off for a couple years now. aelita has ALWAYS been my favorite. her arc, her wit, her .. everything! yet there was always something.. different about her to me that i couldn't place.

that is.. that she's. REALLY relateable to the autistic experience. let's jump right into that.

first off. aelita's otherment from other human chatacters. yes, we learn aelita IS human. but even after learning that, aelita states feeling.. off, different. and, fuck, does that GET to me. it's very similar to how neurodivergent people often feel othered when around neurotypicals. that something is just.. wrong. that they don't belong, that they aren't being a person .. correctly, so to say

we even see aelita struggle with identifying tone / social cues, i.e. the multiple times sissi leads aelita into trouble by lying to her (like when telling her there's another shower upstairs, but refraining from saying that is the boy's shower). not only is she struggling, but sissi continues to laugh at aelita's failures. she IS being othered.

aelita, in a sense.. is having to "learn how to be human" again. that is. ..learn.... social norms. like how many neurodivergents often attempt to mask. this gets to her, too — we see aelita run BACK to lyoko because she's so damn stressed about it. she wants to go to HER normal.

ive also seen aelita's love of things like dj-ing as a hyperfixation of sorts. this one is hard to explain, but .. it was relateable to me to watch her gain a passion she loved so deeply.

my favorite part? when her character develops. we don't see aelita become.. "normal". we see her become CONFIDENT. we see her learn how to cope with her differences, learn how to THRIVE. she stays just as witty, as "weird", but accepts those parts of her and matures. it's.. something a younger me really needed. to watch her grow up and be.. okay. that despite it all, there's nothing WRONG with aelita. in fact, she's really damn cool.

i don't.. think aelita was written with such a subtext in mind. i don't think it was on purpose for her to fit so nicely into these boxes. and i don't think every autistic (or other neurodivergent) person will feel the same. yet. she was there for me. and was so, so important to me. people don't have to hc her as on the spectrum, but god, i sure do.

i love when chatacters, even on accident, can provide this for people. if you have a character like this, id love to hear about it in the tags / comments / reblogs etc!!!

Odd is an AI?

Like the title said, I'm gonna talk about little details that all together make me think that Odd might be an AI program by Hopper.

1: Possible backgrownd to explain it. Hopper lose control pf X.A.N.A and was planning on going on Lyoko with Aelita and shut it down on the inside to protect the world. Thats ok but paranoid as he was, Hopper knew someone might find and turn on the supercalculator again and X.A.N.A would be realese and Aelita in danger. So he create a AI that would be not only materialise on earth, but also on the earth timeline (false memories, familly (real familly that get their memories changes), papers (identity, medical... What Jeremy did for Aelita.) so he could spie on the discoverer and either get rid of them or help them as long as it was needed to finally get rid of X.A.N.A. and materialise Aelita. He was suppose to remember but when the program (I'll call it UCHRONIA since it change the reality by changing one thing and its consequences) was turn on (when Jeremy turn the computer on) a stray dog (KIWI!) was hiding in one scanner and that create a bug. Odd real memories and part of his energy goes in Kiwi who still stay a dog because Odd is part animal so it doesn't made a big change for that part.

2: On the genesis, when Jeremy turn on the super computer we see a some kind of energy burst out of the server but not in any other time he turn it back on. Not even in evolution. I think it is the UCHRONIA program that get engage that time.

3: Odd arrive the very next day after the computer is turn back on AND was right away in Ulrich's room. Ulrich, a Martial art expert that be a perfect warrior to help him against X.A.N.A... Coincidence? I think not!

4: Also in Genesis, Kiwi pee on and destroy Ulrich side of the room and only Ulrich's when he is normally well dressed (OK I know he does things like that on another episode but I'll get back to it) which makes Ulrich get out to seek the principal but instead he found Jeremy being attacted by his robot and save him. To thank him, Jeremy tells him the truth and show him Lyoko. Later, they are seeking for a cobaye and guess what? They got one easy : Kiwi! Who let Ulrich take him without barking (it Ulrich cellphone tjat woke Odd up) and stay in the scanner until Odd took his place and get virtualise. Again coincidence?

5: On satellite, the lazer stands still after the tower is desactivate which is completly illogic because X.A.N.A wasn't on the lazer but on the satellite that shoot them so the tower should have affet it. Unless Odd incounsiously stop it when he sence that the tower got desactivate to protect the girl who just tricked him so he would be safe. It just makes sens to him that tower desactivate = No danger amd didn't realise it was him.

6: Odd is always, but I mean Always hungry and eats ton of food without gaining any pound, any puberty cells. Now I know about fast métabolisme but he got an even faster one than The Flash himself! Maybe because he need a lot of energy just to stay alive and for the program to keep going well.

7: He is the only one to have sickness on lyoko that aren't cause by a bug (Transporter sickness, Cold, Hot, cramps and even Hunger!!!). Jeremy told him it wasn't possible and all physical injuries or supposed to be heal by the virtualisation (Ulrick once get in with pretty injured maybe broken legs and still could run at super speed to catch Yumi!) but Odd still his angry and have more sens than the other on Lyoko. He got a better touch (he sens temperature and motion) and he suggest Kiwi could smell the enemies suggesting that his nose works on lyoko too but not the others.

8: He his the only one who seem made for Lyoko. Ulrich and Yumi has to train hard and need super and acrobaties to follow Odd just casually jump around on lyoko at almost perfect ease.

9: His power! His power suggest a big connection to Lyoko... He can see the futur of it and even project himself out of his body to look around (Dream creature, Crise de rire). And he might kinda got it on earth! He once guess that Jeremy was "Practicing his climbing skills on the college roof".

10: He "accidently" program the materialisation program for Aelita that was finnaly use to save Yumi from the virtual see. We all remember the "Your a dumb genius" scene! It was one of the best if you ask me... Well seriously what was the chance that the candies drop exactly on the right place to program it! Again inconscious use of his power. When Jeremy surprise him and made him jump, his survival skills temporary kiks in and his power were activate and use the candies to repair the program that Jeremy couldn't program himself for now.

11: Kiwi bad behaviour (promise I'll get back to it!) it was only on Kiwi superstar that we really sees Kiwi act bad at the point as the other warrior wants him to stay at the lab. Which he did... And later accidently safe Yumi and rematerialise her by jumping on the keybord and ramdomly press botton. But what if he did it on purpose? He got the vision that Yumi would fell so he drove the warrior crazy so he could go on the lab and when Yumi falls and no one could save her, he jump in amd program the materialisation.

12: His purple drop!!!! No one talks about it on the show... But Odd got the same purple drop at the same place every single day! It is stated that he use gel to keep his hair up air but never that he use hair dye. In fact like I said, no one seem to notice it. Now I know Odd is a great artist, but how could he do exactly the same drop and the same place over and over it os complicated... And between us... Why doesn't he change it sometimes like an egg for easter, heart for valentine day, a christmas tree... That would be more like him. I think this drop is natural and that Odd takes it for a native stamp so he doesn't care or talk about it.

13: His name... Odd means weird or abnormal. Which is exactly the first impression he made on everyone... "What a wierdo!" So I though tjat when Aelita first saw him... She though that too and call him Odd as a joke. But Odd decide to keep it. Because whatever the princess said, it should be done. Della-Robbia means : of the madder. The madder is a plant of Aelita pink color who is COUZIN to an Odd Purple plant but as it is a real familly name... This one might really just be a coincidence.

So, given the latest chapter of Hero Chat....how does your timeline mesh with the events of Code Lyoko? And are we going to see the Team Lyoko Chat at some point?

So on one hand I do have The Crossover which is a clusterfuck of shit all going down at once. So Code Lyoko stuff is happening alongside ML stuff. 

But I’m not going to focus on it a lot in HC. I was mostly making the one-off joke for the sake of how Canon made a reference to Code Lyoko with Hack-San. 

I will put the idea of a Team Lyoko chat on the backburner though. Other than having the ‘Reformed Jerk Chatroom’, I need to binge-rewatch the show before I go all in on writing anything.

Love your trans Aelita hc, this makes sense why it took Jeremie so long to materialize her (the code didn't match with what was there so aside from '3d print a human' it would be '3d print a human with the right gender' and also why it went wrong at first) Also why he put effort in redesigning her in s4 to more woman (lbr aside from her being 12 her elf lyoko version is p gender neutral)
