the first shot / 雪迷宫 is SHOCKINGLY weilan to me for a show that contains neither of these guys???
main guy is the leader of a special investigative team that makes up our main ensemble cast
the secondary guy his boyfriend is a glasses-wearing professor type with secrets, specialized knowledge, a very clear persona, and a hidden ruthlessness
also the professor guy is the best dressed out of the whole group
there's a whole Thing about the professor guy's fake pleasant smile
they live together in main guy's apartment
at one point the main guy gets told off by his superiors and his boyfriend writes his letter of apology for him

Kiss Me Moonstruck, Ch. 20: Per Chantry Code
Hawke x Trevelyan | Dragon Age 2 | Matchmaking Mischief | Fluff and Smut | Fish out of Water | Romantic Comedy
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary:
Rose finds herself at the mercy of the Chantry's finest. Garrett finds her.
Fic Summary:
Smashed together in a matchmaking scheme cooked up by their enterprising mothers, Garrett Hawke and Rose Trevelyan are forced to endure one another for a whole week over Satinalia at the Hawke Estate. Rose hears he’s a swashbuckling treasure hunter, as wild as he is handsome and as ill-bred as he is rich. Garrett suspects she’s a brat of an ingenue by the string of rejected marriage proposals behind her. Determined to prove to the other that they could not be less compatible, they quickly find their mothers’ plot might be working better than they thought.
Excerpt under the cut 👇
“She’s through there, Knight-Captain,” says Paxley in the front. “Emeric went next door. We put her in lyrium shackles, but I think she’s just a mixed up lady or summat.”
“Good. Until we know for certain, we follow protocol, Paxley.”
Rose sits up from her sullen slump, cocking her head to watch between the iron bars as the templar comes through. He stops just across the threshold, flipping through paperwork on a scribe board and brushing a finger over his feeble attempt at a mustache.
“Lady Rose Trevelyan,” he reads from the paperwork. “That’s the name you gave?”
She nods, but doesn’t say anything yet, unsure of what manner of address she’d like to apply to this glorified tin can. He continues speaking to his board.
“I’m here to determine the viability of the case against you,” he says, and then looks up. “Knight-Captain Cullen Rutherford.”
Rose contorts her furious frown into a more palatable look of dismay.
“Open the cell, Paxley.”
Puzzled, Rose looks about. “You’re letting me out?”
“It will be easier to read you without bars between us,” he explains. His crisp professionalism sets her alight like kindling, her pulse an irate gallop in her neck. She’s let out and maneuvered toward a banged up table beneath a dusty window.
The Knight-Captain settles across from her. He’s young. At least— she thinks so. Difficult to tell with those cavernous rings under his eyes. A head of fair hair reminiscent of a Brandel’s terrier over an outrageously symmetrical face. If he didn’t look like he’s dangling from his last fiber of sanity, he might be distractingly gorgeous.
His hardened appraisal relents momentarily and he draws a folded handkerchief from his hip pack, offering it across the table. Rose measures him, wondering if she should take anything from these sanctimonious curs.
“For the smell,” he says, a glimmer of pity in his expression.
Rose’s shoulders fall in defeat. She reaches up with her right hand, only for the shackles to end its travel and then makes a minor drama of taking it with both bound hands and cleaning the bits of green and brown from her face.
“Do you understand the charges?”
Rose huffs. “I’m not an imbecile. What’s the fine?”
“I’ll be getting to that. First, I have some questions. Then we need to determine whether you’re a mage yourself.”
“Me?” she cries. “My parents would have shuffled me off to the Circle the first chance they could if that were remotely true. I’m not a mage.” The Knight-Captain scratches a note as he answers with a doubtful tilt of his head.
“So you’ve said,” he says dryly. He looks up again. “Forgive me if I don’t take your word for it.”
“Can’t you read my— my aura or something?”
“You might be suppressing it,” he says with such a clinical finality that Rose scoffs.

Do you ever just… get the urge to create your own guidebook for a show you’re into? Like, your own personally written guidebook explaining characters and/or places in your way? I- Just me?

Following the death of agent Poktanju, the Korean arm of espionage agency Kingsman must now reassess its ranks. Three Kingsmen— and one aspiring agent— navigate the aftermath to the best of their ability. The work is daunting, yes, but the saying rings true: MANNERS MAKETH MAN.
Tumblr media
CODEBOOK ★ manners maketh man is an upcoming collection of four stories starring select members of SEVENTEEN. minors do not interact; these fics will contain explicit content, including but not limited to smut; depictions/mentions of death, violence, and injuries; alcohol consumption, etc. stories will be tagged accordingly once completed and linked back to this masterlist.
proceed with caution, and remember— a gentleman never tells about conquests, private matters, or dealings. this stays between us.
Tumblr media
SMOKE SIGNALS ♟️ Minghao Makgeolli.
Your fiancé has never given you any reason to worry about him. He’s always been a little secretive about his job, but you’ve believed there are worse things to worry about. That is, until he comes home one night bruised, battered, and claiming he wants to call your engagement off. Now, you’re left to wonder whether you ever really knew Minghao at all.
Tumblr media
WAITING ROOM ♟️ Jihoon Baekseju.
Intel gatherer. Candidate trainer. Technical expert. Jihoon is a jack of all trades— who feels like he ought to add ‘murderer’ to his list of titles. The only thing he can do for now is focus on keeping the remaining Kingsmen alive. It’s easier said than done, especially when you make his job a living hell. You’re probably the most stubborn agent that the organization has, and Jihoon refuses to let you die.
Tumblr media
MOTION SICKNESS ♟️ Soonyoung.
Wonwoo said he had an opening for Soonyoung, but never in the latter’s wildest dreams did he expect it would be this. Kingsman Training is shaping up to be the world’s most dangerous job interview and Soonyoung has half a mind to quit. He just might stick around, though, if it means getting to wipe that smug look off your face.
Tumblr media
I KNOW THE END ♟️ Vernon Somaek.
The Kingsman’s newest target is a visionary who, in trying to heal the world, risks breaking it. Vernon is on your case, and he swears he’ll be able to catch you this time. The problem is— when you're two people at the same time, one of them is bound to trip the other. Whether Vernon will manage to stay on his toes is yet to be seen.
Tumblr media
The Kingsman is a top-secret, independent intelligence and espionage agency based in South Korea, dedicated to upholding peace and protecting the world from terrorists and other major threats. To the Korean public, Kingsman is nothing more than a popular, multinational drink and brewing company. Its alcoholic beverages are renowned all over the world; its agents are named after the drinks and mixes they sell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY ★ all titles are from phoebe bridgers songs. i recently rewatched the kingsman movies because they’re leaving netflix soon, and this idea grabbed me by the neck and wouldn’t let go. massive thanks to the love of my life, @chugging-antiseptic-dye, for listening to my psychobabble about this. you make me possible, a. xo

Up at night thinking about werewolf!ellie
Sigh
You were so right and she does that dog thing when they’re breathing in their sleep and random growl or yelp and scares herself awake
mhm mhmm!! i'm gonna go out on another limb here and say werewolf!ellie will sleep with you in wolf form, too. but hear me out (if you don't fw it, scroll on idfk). just think about it: when nights a hauntingly cold, and you just cannot cease your shivering, ellie is always there to curl up behind you and just swathe you into her fur. swashes you with her tail to be an annoying little trickster, too, but once she settles down, it actually doesn't make that bad of a blanket. a halfway blanket, at least. and the scent of the forest lingers on her, but you've become so accustomed to it, it begins to reside with a comfort in you. of course, those little whines never stop when you sit upright to leave the bed for a moment, nearly echoing into the bathroom. can't speak either, so you have to decipher every noise 'till you've created a codebook in your mind. and i imagine somewhere within the night, she transforms back unawares. so in the morning ur' just being cuddled by this scrawny loser who probably drooled on your pillow.
if u want more blurbs with ideas.. i got them. i will provide for this trope. also literally ellie except the wolf form is just a normal wolf.

Hey! I've gotten super into solo rpgs but I tend to find combat boring. Are there fantasy themed rpgs with less focus on combat that you would recommend? (If they are soloable, that's also a win!)
THEME: Fantasy Solo Non-Combat.
Hello friend, thank you very much for your ask! I'm going to direct you to two Solo-themed game recommendations first, before I dive into today's recs.
Character-Focused Solo Games: Games that focus on character-building. Lighthearted Solo Games: Fun, non-serious solo games.

A Year in the Spirit World, by ToriBee.
The wind rustles through the emerald canopy above as you open your eyes to an unfamiliar world. You're lying on a bed of lush moss, the gentle warmth of the Spirit World sun caressing your face. Around you, a forest of towering ancient trees, each pulsating with an otherworldly glow. It's ethereal, enchanting, and unlike anything you've ever seen.
Drawing from a deck of fate, you'll encounter spirits, creatures, and natural phenomena as enchanting as they are daunting. Each encounter might test your spirit, challenge your harmony with this world, or tempt you to act against your values.
There is some combat in this game, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be the focus. The game is about survival, but you’re as likely to be navigating social situations as you are to be fighting enemies. What I like about this game is the spirit companion who will travel the world with you: there are four different options, each of them cute and enchanting. If you love Studio Ghibli films, you should definitely check out A Year in the Spirit World!
The Goblin Thought, by Kai Medina.
The goblin hoard - a pile of goods and trinkets - is a place of greed, yes. But it's the same greed that thrives throughout this land of men and beetles. It's the allowed selfishness that helps us learn and grow, walk and run, screech and scramble. The hoard is the goblin's memory.
The Goblin Thought is a unique and engaging journaling game that combines chance and narrative to create a compelling story. Players take on the role of a goblin, collecting memories and items in their hoard as they navigate through a world of wonder and danger, allowing for growth and change. With a deck of cards and a six-sided die, each turn presents new challenges and opportunities for creative storytelling, drawing, and reflection.
This game is placed in a fantasy setting, but with a larger purpose. It’s both a journaling game and a thought experiment, a chance to place yourself in the shoes of someone whose history exists within the hoard they have accumulated. Each card you draw from a deck has three prompts attached to it, so you have the potential to play this game (and build a history) for a very long time.
Little Shepherd, Little Spy, by @psychhound.
You try to keep out of the whole war business.
It’s just not really your thing. There are more important things to worry about, like Gethin, your biggest ram, getting stuck in the fence again, or Ffion rubbing against the raspberry bushes and getting her wool all sticky.
Life is pretty simple for a humble shepherd such as yourself.
Little Shepherd, Little Spy is a solo journaling game about being a spy in the fairy war. Choose which side you're on, then draw tarot cards to interpret the messages coming through the information ring. Your tarot card tells you what book to look at and what page. Then you copy down all the relevant information on that page and consult your spy codebook.
I absolutely love fairy games and the premise for this one is super interesting to me. Your character will be interpreting messages that take the form of books that you have on your shelf, and you’ll determine which book to look at (and which page to read) by drawing tarot cards from a deck. If you look into this one I definitely recommend setting aside some time, and perhaps selecting a few books for each category to have on hand, to ease the cycle of play.
The Wandering Library, by AP.
You are the proud owner of a Wandering Library. Whether you bought, built or inherited it, it is your home. Travelling as far and as wide as you desire, your days are spent encountering an assortment of customers, exploring new locations, and tending to your beloved home of books.
This is a a game designed to generate prompts for you to answer in as much or as little detail as you would like. All you need is two six-sided dice and your preferred method of journaling. Using the tables provided, you will explore locations and meet different people, recording your adventures and encounters as you travel in your Wandering Library.
This is a simple one-page game that presents you with a few starting questions, and the supplies a grid of prompts that you’ll roll 2d6 for. Each prompt is a new event, complete with a question, asking how your character reacts. There’s plenty of room for your own imagination. The house is a travelling library, which feels pretty fantastical to me! This game will likely last a few hours or so; it’s not really built for extended play.
Fetch My Blade, by Ethan Yen.
For years you have served your Master faithfully. A loyal companion, you accompanied your Master through the difficult times, and the good times. Now, you are called in a moment of dire need: a Stranger has challenged your Master to a duel, alluding to time before you. Your Master rises to the challenge, calling you forth. This is your moment. You have trained for this. It is time to do your Master proud.
FETCH MY BLADE is a solo journaling roleplaying game where you play as the dog of a retired legendary master of the sword, tasked with a quest of your own: retrieve your master’s fabled weapon in time for their final duel. On your quest, you will uncover and explore your Master’s guarded past-- transforming your character, deepening your relationship with your Master, and ultimately influencing your Master’s fate.
This is a lovely little game of exploring a dog’s relationship to their Master, and developing a backstory as you play. I don’t think there’s specifically a setting in place for this game, but the presence of swords certainly points towards the fantastical. There doesn’t seem to be any specific combat in the game, but violence is considered to have happened in the past, as the game provides a content warning regarding a war that has already happened.

Y'all mind if I analyze the worldbuilding of my favorite childhood cartoon for a minute?
So I was watching the Spheres of Fear episode of Cyberchase the other day.
The whole concept of the Spheres themselves is interesting enough, but I noticed another detail:
Tumblr media
The keypad is written in a weird alphabet that I don't think we see outside of this one episode. Interesting.
Let's have a closer look:
Tumblr media
Well would you look at that. We have a grid of 36 bizarre characters. That's enough for the usual 26 English letters, with 10 left over to represent numbers.
Now I'm a bit of a nerd about alphabets. When I see an alphabet in a piece of media, I can't help but try to crack it. So let's look at this.
The first thing that I noticed was that several of the characters are borrowed from other languages. Three of them look like Japanese Hiragana(ろ, る, and ひ), some look like they're Greek(Ψ, Χ, φ, and maybe θ), one is the roman numeral for 2, and one of them looks like Minecraft Enchantment Table of all things(Row 2 column 1). One of them looks like it might be Japanese Kanji, but I can't read those so I'm not sure.
Watching Inez type the code in doesn't give any hint at which letters are which. It seems like the animators just dragged her hand around at random.
She also types the code in wrong:
Tumblr media
That first 1 was supposed to be an I. Oops.
Something else interesting is that the codebook is written with the usual Latin characters. Meaning the keypad isn't in some common Cyberspace script. The fact that the screen above the keypad has normal letters supports this further.
Maybe it's a Cipher? If it is, then how did Inez have no issue reading it? I know we're probably not supposed to read that much into it, but I'm going to anyways.
Maybe this alphabet is specific to the Spheres of Fear. An extra layer of encryption to keep things from getting out of them perhaps.
My thoughts: It's kind of funny that the animators of this episode took the time to make a whole script for just this one scene, a script that used actual letters from other languages at that. Like we never see it again, it's JUST for this one episode. They could have easily just put a regular keyboard here but they chose to add this extra layer of complexity. Honestly, mad respect to them for that.
Maybe I'll end up assigning letters to all of these characters just for funzies. Who knows?
