hello! hope youre having a nice day! i wonder if you would be willing to share some good fics of hannigram - preferably erotic (in every sense) :)

Erotic in every sense! I'm laughing because all the sex scenes in my fics are nightmarish/awkward/interrupted halfway through. Don't psychoanalyze me, I like what I like!

My fave Hannigram fics have oodles of tension between Will and Hannibal, their physical connection mirroring the complexity of their relationship. Wait, am I saying that in order for Will and Hannibal to read as in-character to me, they have to have at least some bad sex? Um, maybe?!! Anyway, here are a few fics that I've loved recently.

The Storyteller by @gzdacz-writes-fic. I bang the table with my fist as I declare full-throated that I have never read anything like this before: evocative, intense, heartbreaking, deeply uncomfortable, at times downright spooky. This fic oppresses you in the very best way. It's hard to write Hannibal having a breakdown while keeping him in character, but gzdacz makes it seem effortless; you don't know it's happening until it already has.

we keep our spirits light by @coloredink. I've always loved coloredink's Hannibal fics, but this one really floored me. For me, this is the most convincing vision of Will and Hannibal negotiating a sexual relationship post-Fall. The scalpel-sharp prose externalizes the emotional conflict in closely observed physical behavior and makes Will's perverse contradictory brain so achingly understandable. It does a whole lot with so very little.

songs of experience by borevidal. Here's the dirty truth about Hannigram: Will is the trickier, higher-stakes character to write. An off-the-mark Hannibal characterization won't sink a fic - but a bad Will might. Will as a character is perennially conflicted, full of delicious contradictions, doesn't understand why he's doing what he's doing half the time. So if the writer makes too many firm decisions about him, he won't feel like Will anymore. But this fic! This fic! It nails an incredibly persuasive Will narrative voice, made all the more impressive because it's set mid-S2 when canon!Will is at his most confused and opaque. I came away from this fic saying, that is Will. That's him right there on the page. Hello, Will! Also the writing is lovely and lyrical even as it cuts deep to the bone.

One of my favourite Ray Vecchio fics, A Better Man by Morgan Dawn. It's been a while since I've re-read it bc honestly it's kind of a hard read in how stark it feels, but it's always been one of my faves.

Five Times Will Graham Went Hungry, and One Time He Didn't - coloredink. Perfect use of the five times structure to hit that ideal Hannibal note of ominous fluff lol.

10. Recommend a fic that is more than 10 years old.

Have another excellent 90s due south zine fic: No Son of His - M. Fae Glasgow, another fantastic and less (but not none) depressing Ray character study, now with F/V. I'm relieved it's on the wayback machine, since the site has apparently gone down :( Gonna have to check to see how much was preserved.

Or when they walked side by side down Baker Street intentionally swinging their palms a bit too far and having their shoulders a bit too cocked for a second of touch to make sure that their blood still pumped their hearts full of the sentiment that many thought was unjust.

For others, the diagnoses don't feel like something that defines their roles in the plotline, but rather like another set of character traits. Did I mention the beautiful fanart in chapters 1 & 15?)

i'll confess that i don't read as many books as i ought to... it's true that cormac mccarthy's the orchard keeper inspired my username! ("—as if the very air had gone to wine.") as for authors that more directly influenced my writing, i have to admit richard siken's crush was a very formative influence, of which "scheherazade" is my favorite ❤️ (i think this makes it obvious that i was urged into writing by being on tumblr 10 years ago LOL). i'm also an enjoyer of pablo neruda, mary oliver, and william carlos williams, but i'm not as dedicated a poetry reader as i also ought to be...

honestly? my biggest inspirations are other fic writers. among the biggest is gyzym—who is on ao3 but also here on tumblr, and as a young writer i constantly turned to his work for inspiration. i remember reading this post about arachnophobia and this post about a book falling in love with its reader so, so many times. idk. i'm pretty sure he's like 40% of the reason i started writing.

another writer i admire and have drawn so much inspiration from is brella on ao3. some of their fics are like, my favorite ever. their prose is so... lovingly crafted, i can't find the words to describe it. i also love coloredink on ao3, particularly their final fantasy xii fics. they dig into canon in the most delicious way.

i also have to mention my spouse @qorktrees, aka artenon on ao3. if gyzym is the reason i started writing, artenon is the reason i'm the writer i am now. reading their fics taught me so much about narration, about parsing emotions and thoughts, about how to envision a character's inner world. i needed that. i still think about it, even now.

i think i learn a little bit from every writer i meet (yourself included, you know!!!). i'm lucky enough to be surrounded by so many skilled folks. people still surprise me, after all these years. it's awesome.

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

my pre-canon devil summoner raidou kuzunoha fic kazamachi! i know the fandom's obscure and probably not one most of my followers are here for, but it's definitely the best, most evocative prose i've ever written. i think it's super fandom blind-friendly since it doesn't really deal with any of the lore of the game - it's just a short, moody vignette about a teenager grappling with his sexual identity in 1920s rural japan, so to anyone to whom that sounds interesting, please check it out!! i am so proud of my writing on this one

39. Is any aspect of your writing process inspired by other writers or people? If so, who?

a lot of my outlining process (even when i don't actually use her table for it like i did for synthesis) was inspired by @kinneas!! i've also gotten so much inspiration as a writer over the years i've known the wonderful @tzviaariella, though less in specific details of my process and more just in that being friends with her has made me want to be a better writer

41. Link a fic that made you think, “Wow, I want to write like that.”

i cannot miss an opportunity to shill you've got me seeing through different eyes by @futuresoon, because oh my god do i want to someday write something that inspires the level of staring at the wall wondering what emotions i just experienced that reading this immediately after beating p5r did to me, and also because that use of "conversationally" would probably place in my top 5 adverb uses of all time

also for a deeper cut from a fandom i am super not active in anymore, and built a little house that we could live in by coloredink, a hannibal gen(-ish) fic that captures such an incredible sense of yearning that i can only hope to someday match. i think paradise is a bit of a love letter to this fic, even if i wasn't consciously thinking of it when i first started writing it.
