So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
âBut when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, âHow did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?â The man was speechless.
âThen the king told the attendants, âTie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.â
âFor many are invited, but few are chosen.â
Matthew 22:10-14
Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for âGod opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.â
1 Peter 5:5
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Romans 13:14
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:8
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Colossians 3:12
If we say we are his, we must follow the example of Christ.
1 John 2:6

ââColossians 1:9-12 (NIVâŹâŹ). âFor this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.â
âA Life-Changing Prayerâ by In Touch Ministries:
âIn Godâs Word, we can learn a lot about how to intercede for our loved ones.â
âThere are times when we may wonder whether our prayers are really accomplishing anythingâwhen no matter how passionately we pray, the Lord seems unmoved and nothing changes. However, we need to persevere and trust Him to act with His perfect wisdom and timing. James 5:16 says, âA prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.â Therefore, our goal should be to learn to pray effectively.
Colossians 1:9-12 is an example of just such a prayer. The apostle Paul is asking that the believers in Colossae be filled with the knowledge of Godâs will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. We, too, must learn what Scripture has revealed about the Lordâs desires for our life so we can obey His will in the following ways:
Live in a manner worthy of the Lord so weâll please Him.
Bear fruit in every good work.
Increase in the knowledge of God.
Be strengthened with His glorious power to attain steadfastness of faith.
If you want to see your prayers become effective and life-changing, pray these verses for yourself and fellow believers. Then be patient and wait for Godâs will to come to fruition.â

You Are Holy, and Being Holy Doesn't Mean What You Think It Means
We are all pretty acquainted with the idea of being holy. But, who among us is HOLY? We have all characterized some do-gooder as âholier than thouâ, or a âholy rollerâ. Who among you has NOT said, âholy cow!â or âholy Toledo!â (or holy something else!)? But the Bible says that being holy may not be what you think it is. Consider this: âTherefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put onâŚ

ENEMY LOVE?
How are Christians to relate to an increasingly hostile and alien culture? Do we respond in kind, fighting for the values we hold dear, or does Christ call us to a better, more productive way?
How are Christians to relate to an increasingly hostile and alien culture? Just as I presented some historical context, letâs broaden our view a bit to gain some important Biblical context. Up above, we saw through the example of the Old Testament, that despite being Godâs chosen people, there were times when Israel disobeyed and in turn suffered calamity and banishment under the just judgmentâŚ

A Short Apologetic for Broader Reading Patterns
This post started when someone commented on an old blog post about a bibliography about church planting that I posted in 2010! (That is ancient in the blogosphere.) Anyway, when that bibliography was updated in 2021, I included some of the comments below. But in reading that 2021 post, I thought there was room for expansion in light of the current cancel culture. So, . . . A short apologetic forâŚ

Therefore let us go on towards perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and not laying again the foundation: repentance from dead works and faith towards God,
Hebrews 6:1
Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable garland, but we an imperishable one.
1 Corinthians 9:24-25
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
1 Peter 4:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Godâs mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godâthis is your true and proper worship.
Romans 12:1
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

Colossians 1:9-12 (NLT). âSo we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.â
âGrace Upon Graceâ By In Touch Ministries:
âWe will never exhaust the abundant blessings that are ours because of Jesus.â
âIn the gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells the story of a man who found a treasure hidden in a field. Apparently, no one else knew of its existence, so he covered it and sold all he had in order to secure the new property (Matthew 13:44).
As believers, we have inherited a vast treasure called the grace of God. For years, its great worth may remain somewhat hidden from our view, but as we seek out its true valuation, we are astonished to find how wealthy we are. This is what John was getting at when he exclaimed, âFor of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon graceâ (John 1:16). Another translation of that verse puts it like this: âFrom his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after anotherâ (NLT).
Paul describes these successive blessings in Colossians 1: We can be filled with the knowledge of Godâs will âin all spiritual wisdom and understandingââthen weâll be able to please the Lord in âall respectsâ and bear fruit in âevery good work.â Whatâs more, we will be strengthened with âall powerâ and thereby be able to attain âall perseverance and patienceâ (vv. 9-11 NASB). Indeed, the Lord has an abundance of goodness and blessings for His children. Letâs stop to thank Him for endowing us with âgrace upon grace.â

8 Biblical reasons why Christians should not celebrate Halloween
With the popularity of many churches celebrating Halloween by calling it such names as âHolyween,â âHarvest Fest,â âHarvest Celebrations,â and many other names, we thought it fitting to create an article helping parents and teachers understand the implications of celebrating Halloween. Out of our other articles on this subject, we have narrowed down the topic and 8 Biblical reasons why ChristiansâŚ

"LIVING IN TRIUMPHANT HOPE"
1 Peter 1:3-12, âPraised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, Who are being guardedâŚ

Heavenly Thoughts In a "Low Places" World
Have you ever heard someone say, âOh, wouldnât that just be heavenly!â? The Apostle Paul probably used that phrase from time to time, and since he had once been caught up into heaven in a vision, he knew what he was talking about. âSince, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on heavenly things,âŚ
