when i first found out abt this ship im like.. hmm i don't really see it

but then i thought a bit more im like, it actually can make sense but still not really alldat into it

i don't really see them being tg in school - or even being alldat close - but if i do, i can only imagine them being a bit toxic at the time. and they would've broken up in the 2nd half of 7th year & got back tg a few years later and decided to give it a shot once more and genuinely TRY to compromise and be healthy. the reason for them not working out in school is mostly cuz they both had very fiery personalities yet were constantly underestimated and misunderstood by everyone while also being expected to be perfect. plus the pressure of the war, etc

they mature after leaving hogwarts as ppl tend to when they suddenly leave a stage of their life and are thrust into a new one + being teens & young adults literally fighting in a war (tends to make u have a less fickle thoughts process yk) however it's undeniable that they still care about each other very much + THICK unresolved tension

so they give it a go once more but this time with their more adult minds and maturity

but me personally i prefer hc-ing them as getting tg for the first time after hogwarts itself. idk y i just prefer it

anyways soon they turned out to be one of the most healthy and mature relationships (at least in comparison to the others. throws shade at lovely toxic mid-war wolfstar *heart eyes*)

they weren't really made of that intense passion - both had this dry sense of humour & habit of leaning towards calmness in the face of panic so they more so provided each other with stability. not to say they didn't argue - but they approached it like bickering lawyers who aren't really on opposing teams iykwim. their mid-war dynamic was that of a decades old married couple who always seem to be quietly in each other's presence yet their love was as clear as a thick invisible blanket weighing down on u. u could mistake them for calm bsfs

they did enjoy hanging out with friends but weren't the most wild & extroverted of the bunch

used to quietly read together in their free time<3

both were much more morally gray than ppl think they are - one of their first bonding moments was cuz of this

"morally grey" in the sense that they didn't have as much of a rose-tinted vision of the war as some of their other friends. they were brutally realistic and knew that sometimes technically unethical things needed to be done to help in the long run

but they tended to be on separate missions in the order because it was quickly realized that their trademark levelheadedness flies out the window when the other is in danger

had the most kills & dabbled the most in dark magic among their age group of order members (partnered with emmeline the most. holy trinity of powerful warriors<3)

uhm so i can speak odia (my mother tongue) properly but not read or write. ik english & hindi fluently (well my hindi has deteriorated a bit with lack of use..) and can understand bits of kannada. im also learning french on my own but im at a veryyy basic level. i also used to study sanskrit but i've forgotten everything so it doesn't count

i litr cannot form opinions nobleflower. like it's cute but i can't seem to care to the point where i think about the two of them alone like ever. give me your opinions so i can steal them 😣 (or: if you dont ship them any other narcissa/alice ship that isn't w lucius/frank?)

they were absolutely NOT rivals/enemies to lovers but more strangers to lovers

narcissa is a year above alice

so like, personally i think they did not really gaf abt each other until like 5th/6th year (alice in 5th, narcissa in 6th)

they met when alice became a prefect (narcissa was already one from the prev year)

they had their first proper conversation on one of their prefect rounds

just made meaningless small talk and alice in her mind was like oh she's so fucking full of herself but hey at least she's not that boring and narcissa was internally rolling her eyes cuz she knows exactly what alice thought cuz it was absolutely not the first time someone thought of her like that so she was used to it

slowly got to know each other and slowly fell in love (narcissa - fell first (despite trying to desperately suppress her emotions); alice - fell harder)

drunk confessions etc

they were honestly really sweet - made each other lil handmade gifts and plucked flowers and made each other blush and held hands and hugged and cuddled and shit a lotttt

but they knew they fucked up when they seriously started thinking about a future together and realized that could never happen and started sobbing uncontrollably

but then alice, ever the hopeful optimist, was like - "wait, what if u run away with me??"

but while narcissa would die for her in a heartbeat, she would never risk living a life without security - running away with alice would just put a target on her back

it took LOTS of convincing but finally alice fully understood her perspective and didn't push

yet that put some distance between the two of them - they were still sneaking together but it didn't feel the same as before

the last time they saw each other (at least while they were both sane 😊😊) was their hogwarts graduation - they cried and made out and cried and cried and cried and their last kiss was disgusting and sloppy and they wished it would never end and then narcissa had to leave with lucius (they were engaged by this time)

both of them spoke barely a word to anybody for almost a week but they just missed each other so so much and were childishly begging the universe for a way for them to be together

narcissa at one point kept thinking what if i had just ran away from this country with alice?? and she fell into a rabbit hole and any moment she was alone she would obsess over that thought and create the perfect life with alice in her head

she found out about the longbottoms getting tortured, bellatrix's arrest, etc from lucius - he was nervous to tell her cuz he didn't want her to fucking lose it (thinking she'll break down and die from hysteria after losing both her sisters) (he's goofy like that)

she didn't do any of that however - she just didn't speak

she didn't look at lucius - she went to draco's (bleh) nursery, pulled him into her arms and rocked him back n forth

she went selectively mute and no words came out her mouth except sharp rare orders to elves or soft singing rhymes to draco

she pulled herself back together - security & stability is her middle name after all - and appeared right as normal within 1-2 years

(she visited alice once a week religiously under glamour to do nothing but sit and hold her hand and talk like the teenager she used to be with her - she would sob and laugh with all her chest like andromeda showed her it was ok)
