I told my parents today about captain marvels alcoholism and how iron man is her sponsor. my dad thought it was cool and my mom thought it was amazing. both of my parents are sober now but drinking did use to be a problem (my dad has been sober for more than a decade and my mom almost a year and i’m so proud of them). my mom was kinda fangirling because she knew i really like captain marvel and she loves iron man. she told her friends and they also thought it was cool. i just love marvel acknowledging alcohol and the struggles of both men and women. another reason why representation matters :)

HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN TRAILER JUST DROPPED AND I AM ALIVE

Not only are so many of the scenes in the trailer almost exact replicas of what happened in the comics, but even HELLBOY looks comic-accurate. He’s kinda ugly, he got that funky facial hair, he got that comic slouch. He’s BEAUTIFUL.

Sure, it’s lower budget, but MIKE MIGNOLA HIMSELF wrote this movie. He’s directly involved with it and it shows just how much ATTENTION went into making this movie. It feels like a passionate fan film and I adore it.

The worst part of being a fan of The Crow? Noone gives a fuck about the comics and it's all "the movie, the movie, the movie, Brandon Lee, Brandon Lee" and like...i really like the movie and Brandon, he acted the fuck outta the role, and the movie is really good....BUT the movie is an adaptation of a comic book.

If we all shit our pants when a new adaptation came because "it's disrespectful of the original" or everytime we got a new Superman or Joker because it's "disrespectful to George Reeves/Heath Ledger" everyone would hate us.

I would be angry/dissapointed that noone reads the original Crow comics but basicly no fans of superheroes and the CBM genre reads the comics these days so that's just a general issue.

So seeing most peoples reaction to the new Crow trailer being "but the original, the original, it's disrespectful to the original and to Brandon" makes me feel like i am listening to a group of 5-year olds whine.
