So I have a friend (person who thinks they're my friend) who's obsessed with weird fashion stuff (including the big red boots/big yellow crocs) and I keep telling them to shut up about the big red boots because I hate them, and they've grown up rich so they don't really get it but I feel like fashion is mostly about self expression, and some extreme fashion I do like but big red boots especially feels so obsurdly, obnoxiously capitalistic? Like wear big ugly, obnoxious boots that aren't comfortable because why? They're 300 dollars and are a status symbol? You need to be high class to get them and it just feels like a mockery of~ everything idek.

Not only that; women who have PCOS (I know one friend who has this), lower your risk of some cancers, relieve Endometriosis symptoms and prevent Ovarian Cysts and so many more.

Marxists and Liberals agree that bigotry of all types is an unspeakably-destructive barrier to building a prosperous, just, and peaceful society. But that's about where the similarities end. What is the best way to go about fighting identity-based oppression such as racism, sexism, or homophobia / transphobia? How do we understand what oppression is and where it comes from? And what does victory even look like? Marxism and Liberal identity politics have very different answers to these questions. 

 In this video we take a deep dive into the mindset of identity politics, and the issues it tries to address. We primarily use the example of sexism, though we do discuss racism too. We look at how liberal identity politics fails to understand oppression and is incapable - perhaps even unwilling - to achieve liberation for all. We see how Marxists are much better equipped to tackle social issues due to our understanding of class analysis and historical materialism. We examine how oppression in all forms comes from class-based society, and how the only way to truly liberate marginalized groups is the total emancipation of the working class as a whole.

I'm super curious how you understand mysticism and if there are mystic writings you're into

Well, my introduction to mysticism came through Tolstoy’s The Kingdom of God is Within You, which, while I have a lot of quibbles with it, really makes the forbidden connection between heresy and anti-authoritarian theology and does a good job providing a framework for anti-state Christians to critique the history of Christendom.

I think the biggest takeaway for me from that was the crucial difference between the kind of theology produced by bodies of power that wield things like canonization and excommunication and the kind that comes out of communities that don’t have the power to kick someone out or force them to rescind. From there, mysticism becomes about discovering the divine will together (or even on one’s own).

To this point, I’m reading an older mystic book rn called The Cloud of Unknowing, which is interesting, if a little Catholic, in that even when it was written (pre-Reformation), you can see the roots of a new way of approaching the Divine that circumvents (respectfully now, but with urgency later) the need for the structured church. Mysticism can be kind of a line of flight out of imperial religion by actually believing in what Martin Luther called “the priesthood of all believers,” by putting that into action much more than he ever did.

i feel a lot of leftists , especially those is positions of privilege, forget that political resistance isn’t just calling representatives and protesting. political resistance is also giving freely, helping those who need it. you can fuck up capitalism by giving out winter gear and hot meals. donate to food shelves (after making sure they aren’t corrupt or otherwise nasty) invite people into your home to eat and get warm.
