The 5-Act Story Structure
The 5-Act Story Structure, often associated with classical drama and Shakespearean plays, offers a more nuanced approach to storytelling than the 3-Act structure. It is designed to provide a deeper exploration of themes, characters, and conflicts. This structure is divided into five parts: Introduction, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Denouement.
Act 1: Introduction sets up the story by introducing characters, settings, and the initial situation or conflict.
Act 2: Rising Action builds upon the foundation laid in the first act, developing the story's main conflict and complicating the characters' lives.
Act 3: Climax is the turning point of the story, where tensions reach their peak, and the main conflict is confronted head-on.
Act 4: Falling Action deals with the aftermath of the climax, leading towards a resolution but still containing elements of conflict and tension.
Act 5: Denouement resolves the remaining conflicts, wraps up loose ends, and concludes the story, often leaving the audience with something to ponder.
The 5-Act Structure is particularly suited for stories that require intricate plotting, detailed character arcs, and a gradual buildup to a climactic confrontation. It allows for a more layered exploration of themes and a complex interweaving of subplots, making it ideal for epic narratives, complex dramas, and stories with a wide scope of characters and settings.
Compared to the 3-Act and 7-Act structures, the 5-Act structure offers a balance between complexity and manageability. It’s best used when the story demands depth and complexity but still needs to maintain a coherent and focused narrative arc. It is perfect for stories where the journey, including its ups and downs, is as important as the destination.
Happy Writing!

You know what, I want to send in some ❤️ but I want you to pick... 4 people to do it for. Yes Lottie, I'm making you do some of the work. Sue me 🤭
my god sae, you exist to make my life difficult don't you~
for @apocryphis
it wouldn't be a hyv love corner without me talking about ventium, the first person in the hyv fandom that i truly reached out to write with ( no sae, you don't count ), and who has blessed me with so many wonderful dynamics in the year or so that we've now been writing together. writing and plotting with ventium is such a joy, i feel like we clicked very quickly and i love that neither of us are ever able to keep anything short ( remember, discord character limits are a target, not a limit :D ) and that we're both slow but enthusiastic snails. i credit her with so much of my muses' development over the past year, particularly getting to delve into the dynamic duo that is furina & neuvillette and all of the worldbuilding that allows us to do about fontaine as a whole. and no matter how long it takes us, i know that we have so many exciting things in store, both for our ships and for our other dynamics, and to have that sort of longevity in plotting and writing together is wonderful.
for @mercysought
i can't not talk about skells, an absolute staple of my dash and my tumblr experience for years now. she is another rp partner who gets to be a slow but enthusiastic snail alongside me: that we started writing pairings like jamie & anora *checks notes* five years ago ( can you believe, skells?? ) and we're still barely scratching the surface of them both in their outlander and da verses, and then we added to that with the black sails stuff with flint, silver & maxima ( tempting you into black sails is one of my proudest achievements ) is incredible. skells is another individual that is always so, so up for all the wild ideas and crossovers i throw at her and that makes her one of my favourite people to be creative with. and that's before i talk about her genius when it comes to crafting her ocs, whom i adore like my own (non existent) children, truly <3
for @lorelodge
ace is another staple of my tumblr experience that i can't not talk about, someone who has been there since the very beginning and one of my absolute favourite people to worldbuild with. the fact that, without them, my most beloved soul muse jack would not have the intricate and detailed background that he has, is something that should not be overstated and that we have gotten to continue in that vein with all of the other dynamics we have thrown together since you made your multi is such a gift. i know i can throw a batshit insane idea at ace and they will somehow make it even more insane and brilliant, and i also know that i can really, truly delve into complicated and interesting dynamics without fear or judgement. our writing partnership started with an abusive parental relationship and now we're here with our vampiric polycule and i have loved every minute of that pipeline lmao.
for @polarnoid
rat !! my beloved. i will echo what they said the other day because honestly it feels like i've known rat a lot longer than we actually have known each other, just because we clicked so easily and writing together was so fun and easy to do right from the start and through the 234238 dynamics we have conjured since, which is such a rare thing and something i treasure so much. rat not only is an incredibly fun person to both talk to and plot insane, intricate universes with, but also someone who brings such a wonderful narrative voice to their writing. i always feel like i'm in the particular character's head when i read a reply of theirs, and it's a talent that i am always in awe of.
send ❤️ + a URL and I’ll write something nice about them/their blog! / @iniziare

💐💜My Reading & Writing Hot Takes💜💐
Tumblr media
vintage leather-bound > hardcover > paperback
fantasy with romance > romantasy
libraries > buying new books
short books > long books
stand-alones > series
focus on strong plot > focus on character
I do judge books by their covers & titles
classics, gothic literature, & historical fantasy are the best genres
💐Why?💐…
I refuse to buy paperbacks and have a vendetta against them! I hate how quickly they crease and get damaged; you can’t read a paperback, front to back, without it looking like you ran it over with a car. I personally like my books looking pretty on my shelves and it’s so much more sustainable to buy hardcover. I LOVE going to old bookstores to collect leather-bound books!
A little harsh but… Romantasy is the least substantial book genre and is honestly an insult to literature. Can we please leave this genre behind? It should stay on Wattpad and not be something I find on book store shelves. Books should be thought-provoking and have an actual message instead of being messy, being based on the same five tropes, and having no plot other than intimacy. I love hints of romance in books and that’s why fantasies WITH romance are the best. You get an interesting plot and world plus romance that adds to or even complicates the events. In my opinion, a single relationship is not enough to be considered as the plot of a story, and slow-burns and secondary romance plots are way more rewarding!
As a library worker myself, I recommend using your local resources instead of buying new books! To keep libraries around, we have to use them! It’s more sustainable and with book prices nowadays, a LOT cheaper. I’ve probably saved a couple hundred dollars just this year! Library cards are free and most libraries don’t have a check-out limit and allow you to renew books up to several months (as long as no one places a hold)! Libraries also offer free ebook access!
Shorter books are infinitely better than long books! If you need more than 300 pages to tell a story, it better be the best, most intricate and thoughtful novel I’ve ever read or you need to seriously cut down your word count. I’m tired of reading awful books with 400+ pages of pure nothingness that so slowly paced and have so many unnecessary, useless scenes. Editors seriously need to start cracking down on this. If a scene or part of the story doesn’t contribute to the plot or character development, cut it! It shouldn’t take 200 pages to just set-up a story and another 50 for anything important to actually happen. I’ve found even in my own writing that cutting down my stories significantly makes them more concise, clear, and intentional. Don’t drown readers in words! Leave some space for thought and for the digestion of your writing! I think most readers prefer a short but wonderful book compared to a long and “meh” one.
As I get older, I prefer stand-alone novels to series. Series are great, especially when you really enjoy the world and characters. But, honestly, they’re sometimes unnecessary and a bore. Not every book needs to be a series, just as every movie doesn’t need a sequel, and sometimes stories are best left “one and done.” I find it a little frustrating when I need to read six novels to see how a story’s problem is resolved and reach a satisfying ending. I sometimes even get annoyed by a duology because seriously, if you only have enough material for another book, stuff it into the first! I think the ability for stand-alones to resolve their overbearing conflicts in just one volume makes them more compelling and a lot easier to digest. I love series but I don’t want to discover that every single book on my 200 book-long reading list is part of a 10 book series…
I’ve recently noticed than more and more modern books have weaker plots and I beg any writer to please learn basic, classical story structure! Regardless of what interesting characters, atmosphere, or world you may have created, your story will fall through without a strong plot. Plots make the story. In fact, they are the story. The most excellent books are strong in all areas but the framework of plots is so essential that it should be focused on more! I would prefer a book with a strong plot and mediocre world-building to one with scraps of a conflict and some veryelaborate world.
It’s just marketing! Covers and titles are important! Sorry for the book prejudice but I refuse to buy ugly books and will always pick up the most interesting, cool-titled novels on the shelf. I like having a pretty bookshelf and books that don’t look appealing… probably aren’t. I’ve definitely been catfished by a book before but I’ll at least buy the prettiest edition of a book I’ve heard is good. So, if you want good sales, get a good cover artist!
The classics, gothic literature, & historical fantasy are the best genres— at least in my opinion and I strongly recommend you read them! Not only do you look ten times smarter, but you can’t go wrong with a classic. It’s very powerful how such an old book can transcend time in meaning and still be relevant to today’s world! We were still humans thousands of years ago and some issues never simply vanish. My favorite branch of classics is Gothic Literature! Think of melodrama but romantically dark and haunting. My favorites are Jane Eyre, the Turn of a Screw, Northenger Abbey, and practically anything by Henry James! They’re both beautiful is meaning and imagery! Another genre that I’ve been gladly noticing more and more of is historical fantasy : when elements of the past, or our world in the past, is mixed in with magic. Pretty dresses, a blast to the past, and magic is a great combo! It’s also very creative and leaves a lot of space for originality!
I’ve love to hear what you think!
XOXO,

hi dana, i hope you are well today <3 trouville is such a great fic! you are an immaculate writer so i only assume you have immaculate taste. do you have any ot7 fic recs?
p.s. i’m sorry if you have already been asked this 🙈
Hiya honey, I hope you're doing well too! Thank you so much for your sweet words about Trouvaille and my writing, you're so kind, and thank you for reading as well!! 💜🥰
I have MANY fics I've been dying to recommend on this blog, some of my favorites, and I hope you don't mind if I use this ask as a fic rec post!! As a warning, most of these will be 18+, so please read the warnings on the original post of each fic before interacting.
OT7:
So I haven't read many OT7 fics over the years (strangely enough) but I have three I've read recently I'd like to recommend!
Abundance - by @angelicyoongie This is also an OT7 hybrid fic that I've enjoyed, I particularly like the way the author has written the MC and the way they have divided the hybrids into certain "packs". A sweet (and spicy) read!
Lovesick - by @angelicyoongie Another one by angelicyoongie, this is a yandere fic, so if you like darker subject matter and characters, you'll LOVE this story! I'm totally hooked on this one, I think it is very well done and has a carefully (and intricately) crafted plot!
Everything Falls (Into Place) - by @blog-name-idk I read this fic literally in one sitting. The whole day passed me by and I had the best time. It's an OT7 x reader roommate au! Love the characterization of each of the boys, their relationships with each other, and I must mention the "extra" story the author has written for Seokjin is one of my favorite Seokjin fics I've read in a while (I love how this author in particular writes Seokjin)
Multi-Member:
Florescence - by @jincherie Ongoing; Taejin x reader, jincherie has been one of my favorite authors on Tumblr for years. There will be many fics of their's I'll list on this post, but jincherie has written some of my favorite hybrid!au fics! This one is especially sweet, I really love the way the author has a realistic slow development of trust between the MC and Taejin.
Namjoon:
Partners - by @btssmutgalore Nerdy, shy Namjoon x extroverted, party girl reader in this ongoing fic; I loveeee this series so much and have been following along for a long time! I really like the way this author has tackled some complicated conversations between characters, and has worked hard to not gloss over conflict or confrontation, and just the general realism of this story. So good!
To Tame A Fox - by @jamaisjoons Veryyyy kinky, tattooed and pierced dom Namjoon in this fic. I believe this is a college/slice of life oneshot! Super steamy and this author I would say has a way with their beautiful, extensive vocabulary. This is another author worth going through their entire masterlist, particularly if you like fics that read like intricate novels!
Oh, honey! - by @yoongiofmine Sugar daddy Namjoon (and a little Hoseok in there too) This is another fic series I read in one sitting! A really fresh and unique take on a sugar daddy fic, Namjoon is a sweetheart and heartbreakingly sexy in this. Author finds perfect balance between budding romance and steamier scenes that will have you melting into a puddle!
The Bodyguard - by @rmnamjoons Bodyguard Namjoon and ambassador reader; there are many words to describe this piece, but the one I can think best to sum it up is EPIC. Like, truly a masterpiece and absolutely beautiful. I adore Namjoon's characterization in this fic, he is adoring and swoonworthy. I beg you, read this fic- the author put so many gorgeous details into this piece and it is amongst my favorite fics I've ever read.
Seokjin:
Silly Kitty - by @jincherie Hybrid!Seokjin x reader! A fluffy one-shot that will totally lodge its way into your heart. I must have read this fic a dozen times over the years, the author is just truly one of my favorites. I adore her friendship with Jeongguk in this fic, as well, and the humor is spot on! jincherie's hybrid universe is amongst my favorites created.
A Lullaby on Canvas - by @jincherie Siren!Seokjin x reader, smut! Another by jincherie, I love this Seokjin. He's spellbinding and adorable, and the smut is *fans self* wow... jincherie has the unique ability to weave fantasy concepts into "slice of life" seamlessly. I cannot recommend their stories enough.
Pride and Fidget Spinners - by @kpopfanfictrash Slice of life, Seokjin and reader work in a mall, enemies to lovers! This fic would definitely make my top five in BTS fics. Shanna does really amazing work, and her writing is gorgeous and alway a blast to read. This fic has it all; its hilarious, romantic, high-energy, and the characters are vibrant and full of life. Going through Shanna's masterlist is another wonderful idea; not only are her BTS fics fantastic, but she writes amazing stories for EXO and Got7 as well that I love, too!
Platonic - by @joheunsaram College au, friends to lovers, brat tamer Seokjin, bratty reader; this series is sooo addicting! The reader and Seokjin can be a little clueless about their feelings for one another in this series (which is endearing!), and I absolutely adore their ride-or-die dynamic. Steamyyy smut and I love this version of dom!Seokjin; the whole series is written so well. An immediate favorite.
01_ The Gamer's Rules - by @orangie-drabbles Smut, part of a collab! I cannot even describe how awesome this fic is. Characterization of Seokjin is absolutely spot-on. I love the sort of subtle soulmate vibes in this story, the smut is super hot, and the plot was exciting, fresh, and completely unique and interesting. The author is very good at describing vibrant imagery. Love it!
Birthright - by @jimilter Vampire Seokjin!!!! That should honestly be all you need to read this fic. Seokjin is breathtakingly enchanting in this, and I love the lore and the effort that went into world building that author put into this fic. Romantic, sexy, gothic, and perfect.
The Light of Dead Stars - by @ahundredtimesover Arranged marriage AU! BEAUTIFULLY DONE FIC. I mean seriously, it reads like a novel! The author does a really nice job of letting relationships blossom slowly and organically in this fic, and puts a unique spin on the arranged marriage au. So many beautiful details, excellent story telling, and just pure joy to read.
Hoseok:
Transference - by @dark-muse-iris therapist!Hoseok x reader, shibari; series. THIS IS MY FAVORITE BTS FIC EVER WRITTEN. I could scream it from the rooftops; I mean I wish I knew how to bind books because I'd bind this one in velvet. I love it so much, and have read it countless times over the years. This is my absolute FAVORITE characterization of Hoseok I have ever read, and I tell every one I know who is into BTS to read it. Super well done, thoroughly researched and incredibly informative, it's just pure perfection. Absolute fave.
Heartbeat - by @joonbird gang!au, ongoing series! This is an instant classic, joonbird always writes really exciting fics with intricate and immersive plots. Hoseok is bad-boy sexy in this, and the author writes really gorgeous angst, realistic dialogue, and knows how to navigate tricky confrontational situations. The smut is super hot, and Hoseok is devastatingly charming- this series is not for the weak!
Yoongi:
Eargasm - by @lavishedinjimin phone sex operator Yoongi x reader, smut (also, read part two to this fic if you enjoy, it's also whew!) Just so. Wow... Definitely steamy! Very clever on the author's part to choose Yoongi for this fic, with his gravelly, sexy voice. A unique plot, and very enjoyable will they/won't they moments.
Three Tangerines - by @kithtaehyung brother's best friend!au. 3tan is an instant classic! Love the version of Yoongi this author has written, he's both edgy and sexy, as well as introspective and soulful simultaneously. This is an ongoing series, and the slow development of complex emotions reads both realistic and perfectly natural. Yoongi is sexy as hell, and the MC is strong and easy to relate to. If you're Yoongi biased, this series is a must-read.
Inheritance - by @jincherie hybrid!Yoongi x reader. Lots of fluff, and another lovely series by jincherie. I adore the story and all of the emotions that are featured in this series. Watching Yoongi open up over the course of this series is a delight.
Jimin:
Tentacledipity - by @jincherie alien!au, soulmate!au, ongoing series. Like I mentioned earlier, this author does an amazing job with fantasy plot lines (or in this case, sci-fi) I don't read too many maknae line fics, but this one is my absolute favorite Jimin fic. I love the MC's borderline bratty behavior, and Jimin's carefully constructed patience that MC consistently tries to break down. A treat!
Taehyung:
Mystery Gang; Unsolved - by @jincherie paranormal!au! This series is my SHIT, I love the spookiness, the friendship between the reader and Taehyung, and how flirty Tae is. The humor is also very much there, which helps break up any tension brought on by the paranormal aspects of the plot. Romantic, funny, and a bit angsty!
Bibliotheque - by @joonbird college!au, rivals to lovers. Love the slow build to romance in this oneshot. I think about this fic every time I'm in a library LOL. Taehyung is written irresistibly, and the romance scenes are intense thanks to the slow build to romance over the course of the story. Peak boyfriend vibes from Tae here!
Jeongguk:
Wanted - by @jincherie alien!au, series! This takes place in the same universe as Tentacledipity, and is my favorite Jeongguk fic. I love how the author wrote Jeongguk in this series, the perfect combination of boyish mischief and steady confidence. Again, the world building is inspirational and fun to visualize!
These are just my absolute favorites I can remember off the top of my head at the moment, but I'd love to take more time and find some more of my favorites that I've read over the years. I hope you and everyone who reads this post checks out these wonderful authors and stories and enjoy them just as much as I do! And, thank you to all of the authors I've mentioned for your hard work and beautiful writing all these years. 💘💜

Tidalhaired - an independent Elrond Half-Elven. Penned by Moon (she/her, 30+)
This portrayal is based on the books (The Silmarillion, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit). While Book-canon takes presedence over any adaptations, I enjoy some of their aspects and will weave them into my portrayal as I see fit, making this mixed canon. Very The Rings of Power friendly.
(About page) / (Meme tag)
The Fellowship: @alightindarkplaces , @celevrian , @wintersovereign , @alootus (who also made my lovely header and the edit on my pinned post <3) , @saltuary , @fatepowered
Rules under the cut:
Elrond is a deeply complex character with an intricate family tree and a rich history. He is a scholar first and warrior last, a healer and a lord, a nurturer and loremaster. He is wise and kind but never passive, willing to fight for what is right, even when it pains him. Though friendly, he stands firm when necessary.
He is also a diplomat and a strategist, balancing wisdom with action. Elrond bears the weight of centuries and carries both personal loss and the responsibility of guiding Middle-earth through turbulent times.
He is a father and a mentor, offering both gentle encouragement and firm counsel. Though his heart is vast and compassionate, he is not easily deceived. His foresight and experience grants him a keen understanding of both people and fate.
Elrond is a protector and the bedrock of hope in Tolkien's narrative. Whether offering sanctuary in Rivendell or standing against darkness, his strength lies in his unwavering commitment to preserving the good in the world.
Rules:
This is a selective blog, I only write threads with mutuals. Everyone is welcome to send me asks, regardless of mutual status.
I love crossovers! Even if I’m unfamiliar with your muse’s fandom, it only makes the interaction more authentic. After all, I’ll know just as much as Elrond does.
The best way to start an interaction with me is by sending me memes! Please don’t reblog memes from me, reblog them from the original source instead.
I love plotting! Feel free to drop into my IMs if you want to brainstorm something together.
Dear personal and non-RP blogs: Please don’t reblog my threads. It’s not fair to my writing partners. Thank you!
I'm pretty flexible with timelines. Things can get complicated, but I'm always open to bending the rules and just getting things done without overthinking it.
I'm open to any romantic shipping! The beauty of RP is the unpredictability, you never know what might develop. If you have a ship in mind from the start, just let me know, and we can work out a fun plot together. Elrond’s sexual orientation can best be summed up as: he loves life.
I don’t have any personal triggers, but I make sure to tag common ones like spiders, gore, etc.
Duplicates are more than welcome! Even though we all draw from the same source material, our interpretations are unique. That said, I understand not everyone is comfortable with duplicates, so I won’t follow other Elronds first, but I’m happy to follow back.

I think one of the biggest ways people get Andrew wrong in fanon, especially with fics from his pov, is when he helps people just for the sake of it. Or out of the good of his heart, I suppose. It makes him out to be kinder than he is in canon, where all his deals for example are on some level self-serving. Andrew didn't offer to make the deal with Neil because he cared about or his situation. He was bored & Andrew fully expected Neil to either disappear or die at the end of it.
Anyway, do you have any other thoughts on TSC/TGR? It doesn't seem like you're a fan xD and personally I'm not either.
Andrew is a difficult character to write. He definitely didn't make the deal with Neil out of the kindness of his heart, but was it just because Neil was interesting, or because of Kevin, like Andrew claims? And the deal with Kevin has even more layers—interest, usefulness, Kevin's promise. Aaron's deal, though, that's the most complicated of all. I wish this didn't get watered down so often.
On TSC & TGR... I'm underwhelmed.
You have Jean who we all know and love, now one half of a dual pov with Jeremy who's... there. And I like Jeremy. A gay ex drug addict with a savior complex and crushing guilt over his brother's rooftop dive during a coke-fueled sex party, financially chained to the same homophobic family that blames him for Noah's death while he pastes on a smile and captains the Trojans? That's compelling material I would absolutely devour if the author wasn't shelving crucial elements with all the subtlety of a brick through a window.
Jeremy could complement Jean beautifully, but instead throughout the entire first book he is relegated to being Jean's narrative counterweight and remains frustratingly underdeveloped. Why make him a POV character only to drip-feed his actual story?
The second book do offer glimpses of promise, Zane, the Kevin/Jean interview, and Lucas processing Grayson's death—those had the buildup I crave. And it's not all doom and gloom; some scenes are genuinely well-crafted, which makes the overall flatness even more disappointing.
Any potential innovation gets suffocated beneath formulaic storytelling that prioritizes meeting genre expectations over delivering something actually interesting. Where's the intricate conflict, the genuine stakes, the narrative risk and the twists that keep you guessing? I'd settle for any character development that doesn't feel plucked from a template.
29 Trojans and we only have three that approach interesting: Jeremy, Jean and Lucas. Yes, there are loads of great representation. There is a lot of potential, but without any actual arcs its all window dressing. The Trojans' uniform virtue renders them forgettable, while every antagonist is cartoonishly cruel. Only the Foxes and Jean offer dynamics with any nuance whatsoever. I like slice-of-life scenes as much as the next person, but without anything engaging in between they just highlight the plot's thinness while ticking off every BookTok trope. For readers who appreciated the original trilogy's complex characters, emotional depth, and unpredictability, this feels like a photocopy of a photocopy.
I can map the entire emotional journey without turning another page: Jeremy-Jean will have their ineviatable romance, Jean and Kevin will have their requisite heart to heart so Jean can move on, the comic relief lesbians will continue being exactly as flat as the rest of the one-note Trojans who conveniently fulfill whatever narrative function is required to keep this plot inching forward. Jean's separation anxiety will be resolved through the dog (really? a dog?), Jeremy's family will maintain their antagonistic presence until Jeremy finally applies to himself the same standards he preaches to Jean about deserving better treatment. We'll witness Jeremy and Jean working through hypersexuality and sexual trauma via the "sunshine character with hidden darkness" and "grumpy character with a heart of gold" dynamic that's been done to death and beyond.
The most shocking moment—the house fire—only highlights how desperately this story needs genuine surprises and stakes. At this point, I'd even welcome a character resurrection (typically a cheap narrative sin) just to disrupt this procession of convenient coincidences and expository dialogue.
While the trial's portrayal remains uncertain, the outcome doesn't: Jean will recognize that both he and Elodie deserved better, rebuff his parents and the Ravens, reconcile with Jeremy, fully integrate with the Trojans, and continue his trauma recovery. With every beat so plainly telegraphed, I'm left wondering what's supposed to keep me invested in this story.

⚔️ Hello all! I (21+F) am looking for someone (18+) to play Maegor Targaryen from Fire & Blood against a f!oc. Bring me your Maegor who is toxic, manipulative, and complex. Minors, DNI! The roleplay will include dark and NSFW themes per canon examples and as a proper warning for Maegor himself.
I am looking to play through the events of Maegor’s life, particularly the death of Aenys and his eventual reign. I take heavy inspiration from the book canon and wish to fit the roleplay into canon events and illuminate what is left unsaid. My oc is Maegor's sister, a developed and complicated woman with a troubled relationship with her brother. I would love to get into their dynamics and conflicts as the timeline continues. I emphasize my writing in getting into a character’s mindset and motivations, and creating intricate plots.
I am looking to roleplay on Discord, with a private server for organization. I am a third-person fully lit writer (500 words +), and I am looking for someone who is also a fully lit writer. Life gets busy, so I will not get to daily roleplay responses, and I do not expect the same from my partner! I also love to chat ooc, and will create playlists, headcanons, aesthetics, and artwork for the roleplay when I am especially inspired. I enjoy talking about ASOIAF, so I would love to chat about the world overall!
If you are interested, please like this ad, and I will reach out! Thank you for your time! <3

Hello! I've spent the past couple of weeks enamored, fascinated, and obsessed by Oslov <3
I was wondering, what is your writing/planning/plotting process like? The world is so intricate, there are so many characters and events and moving parts and sinister plots to keep track of, and I'm amazed how you carry them all though with such detailed care. Oslov is like a spiderweb in all senses of the word, and I'm entirely entangled in the best way as a reader. I'm curious, how much planning goes into all these stories, because everything is so wonderfully connected at any distance.
Also, you mentioned in an earlier Tumblr post the Oslov language and an old grammar for it. I love constructed languages, and also construct them for writing, so I'd be sooooo interested in seeing and hearing what the languages in the saga are like (from inspiration to grammar to vocabulary to development to everything). I understand it is rooted mainly in Germanic (and maybe some Slavic languages) and emerged as a mixture/creole or something similar? If you're interested in sharing some of it, I'd love to learn :)
Thank you for this amazing saga! I'm so excited (and terrified) for what's to come in Oslov Unraveled.
Thank you so much for reading!! And that’s so cool that you create languages too. I wrote my “Oslov grammar” back when I was in college, so it isn’t one of those impressive constructed languages that follow real linguistic principles, but I did apply what I learned from studying German, French, and Latin. The whole thing is handwritten—but readable, I think—so I’ll do a separate post soon with some photos. I wonder if I could scan it, lol.
My writing process is chaotic. I would love to have a “bible” for the whole series, but I haven’t had time to do more than make a few outlines. Luckily I can usually remember which stories/chapters I need to review to prep for new chapters, but continuity errors do slip through. (The color of Besha’s scarf is one I just noticed!) I have one ring binder that contains all my Oslov materials, from the grammar and maps I created decades ago to the more recent time lines and story outlines. I do all the outlining in longhand and don’t write in Scrivener or anything nice like that, just Word.
So I rely on my memory of the overall story and character arcs. It’s far from flawless, but because the story was mostly in my head for so long—barely anything was written down until about 2017—I have a lot of practice in remembering. The story has gotten a LOT longer and more complicated since I started writing it. But it still doesn’t feel like work at all, more like daydreaming, which is what it’s always been. And I love that! If I ever published it, I would get more systematic, but I hope it would still be an escape and not work for me.
Anyway, thank you so much for giving me an excuse to geek out about this! 😊

The 7-Act Story Structure
The 7-Act Story Structure is a sophisticated framework that allows for an expansive exploration of narrative complexity and character development. It’s particularly well-suited for epic tales and multi-layered stories, providing ample space for twists, turns, and deep dives into the psyche of its characters. This structure can be broken down into seven parts: Introduction, Initial Conflict, Expansion, Complication, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution.
Act 1: Introduction introduces the story’s world, characters, and the initial hint of conflict.
Act 2: Initial Conflict sets the story in motion with a conflict that drives the narrative forward.
Act 3: Expansion broadens the scope of the story, introducing new challenges and subplots.
Act 4: Complication adds complexity to the narrative, deepening the conflicts and testing the characters.
Act 5: Climax is the highest point of tension, where the main conflicts come to a head.
Act 6: Falling Action begins to resolve the conflicts, leading towards a conclusion but still offering twists or revelations.
Act 7: Resolution ties up all loose ends, resolves remaining conflicts, and concludes the story, providing a satisfying end to the epic journey.
The 7-Act Structure is designed to accommodate an intricate narrative with multiple layers of conflict and character development. It's particularly effective for long-form storytelling, such as in novels, film series, or television series, where the story's depth and complexity can be fully explored over time.
This structure allows for a detailed exploration of the characters' internal and external journeys, offering writers the flexibility to introduce and resolve multiple subplots. The additional acts beyond the traditional 5-Act structure provide space for more significant character development, plot twists, and thematic depth, making the story more engaging and immersive.
The 7-Act Structure is best used in stories that require a vast canvas, such as epic fantasies, intricate mysteries, or complex dramas. It suits narratives that are too complex for the 3-Act or 5-Act structures due to their scope and the depth of the world-building involved. The extended framework facilitates a gradual buildup and more nuanced resolution of the story's many elements, allowing audiences to become more deeply invested in the characters and the story world.
In comparison to the 3-Act and 5-Act structures, the 7-Act structure is ideal for stories where the narrative's breadth and complexity are paramount, and the writer wishes to guide the audience through a more elaborate and detailed experience. It's the structure of choice for epic storytelling, where the journey through the narrative's many layers is as crucial as the final destination.
Happy Writing!

FAQ - answers to some questions
(more will be added once I have more to go off) - indented and in quotes is a question, below is an answer :)
“How often do you post pages?”
Uploading will be pretty consistent because this is more of a low-effort comic (compared to my bigger projects) and everything is pretty much laid out for me because I’m using the novel version I wrote as a younger kid for plot (very helpful! Though the spelling errors, dyslexia was kicking at that age 😬)
“Where else can I find the comic?”
Mostly here on tumblr for now! Certain pages I like will grace my DeviantArt but I don’t want to put too much effort into its ComicFury (link - and effort means answering questions, if you have any just send an ask here :)) until I’m sure I can take it on regularly because I already have like five projects there and I don’t want to seem like I’m getting greedy lol.
“What is the comic about?”
To avoid the inevitable paragraph-long response this would be if I don’t shorten it into a vague little response, it’s three cats trying to overcome the notorious dangers of their world, reunite with their kin, and stand their ground against the coming storm. The next answer will better elaborate on this.
“What even is the lore for this? I’m so confused 😭 “
I hate to say it, but confused you should be—I was as well when I remembered I made this and read the first chapter and remembered why I stopped (it got too confusing to keep straight).
What it was (based on): a game some friends and I played in elementary school that I developed into a story with cats (because I am autism nice to meet you) where they were trapped in a game until they killed a cat (the antagonist renamed to Smokeflame) and until then he tries to kill them all and if he does he wins (?). It was named Warriors of the Forest —> The Warriors of the Forest and the first book can be read here (TW: blood, gore, trauma, grief, def don’t read if you’re homophobic—oh also don’t be homophobic).
What it now is/has developed to be: the world is one unique to the story, though one without much specification so anything unspecified can be up to interpretation for anyone, your guess is as good as mine because it’s too complicated to explain it lol. Maybe they’re on a slightly disconnected peninsula like prehistoric Alaska, which would explain the climate too, that’s my interpretation if you would like the creator’s direct input about that. Any cats who are surviving are welcome to travel on their own, with frands, or make/join a clowder of cats, like Pouncecamp. Smoke is still prevalent but he’s just a tyrant, not an other-worldly cat who kills for fun. So… slight improvement.
“How did you come up with the premise/was there intricate forethought/ inspiration?“
I’m always embarrassed to admit that no, there was not much forethought on my part for this story. I like to just write and see where it goes and thus. That occurred with this.
There’s always going to be inspiration for something, even if it can’t be put to words. Naturally I was inspired by Warriors in certain elements, and now rewriting it I want to entertain certain aspects I abandoned when I was writing it when I was younger because they were edgy and I was conscious enough to hesitate on how I could properly handle it, so those are resurrected; I’m also a fan of What Lurks Beneath by ArualMeow (@/WhatLurksBean here on tumbylr) and want to bring some of the color schemes and looks into it with some neon-ish palettes and scratchy backgrounds so big art inspo. I guess I always had a story in my head for it but it has evolved far from that now so in short: not much forethought but now adapting it to a comic a lot of thought.
“Where can I find this many times aforementioned novel?”
The link to the first one: link, link to the second one: link, I currently am remaking the second one so I’ll include link when it’s done, link to the character index: link. Be warned, I was 11-12 when I made this. Oh and also blood, graphic violence, gore,
“Can I make fanart/fan characters for the comic?”
Of course!! I don’t think I can be more clear in saying fanart is for sure *accepted and fan characters are awesome, and may even get put in if I like them or need background characters :) (*don’t make them do anything weird, that’s distasteful and they’re just cats bro 😭 but my general permission for fanart is always given, excluding inappropriate content within it)
“Who is the author?”
Greetings from me, the author. I’m an Arizona-based disabled and pretty gay freelance artist and creator of stupid projects usually surrounding an assortment of queer animals. I was born April 2011 so do with that what you want.
“Aren’t you too young to be handling these topics?”
I believe you can write about any topic as long as you research and ultimately appropriately present it; for topics like grief, trauma, and mental illness, I am no stranger to these, both through personal experiences and asking around. I may be young but (regrettably) I have no shortage of experience with some of the rougher topics; specifically for assault I got the input of one of my closest friends (who is admirably open to talking about it); we’ve actually both been assaulted but they’re overall just more mature than me and have an extensive knowledge on psychology and the like from an undergraduate degree (which may seem uneducated but it is one of their fixations and they are genuinely very smart with it I don’t know how to phrase it). I can be immature, but everyone can be. I may be more prone to responses with “lol” at the end of sentences but I promise I am really doing everything I must to present things correctly.
“What does it mean for the abuse listed in the sensitive themes list, what abuse does that pertain to?”
Along with themes of trauma and violence, there is abuse in this comic. It isn’t shown graphically, it is solely within implications and flashbacks that we see one of the characters was sexually abused, which motivated some of their actions and left them with unresolved emotions and trauma. There is also physical abuse as well as mentally abusive actions and mind games to put them into simpler words. This abuse is more prevalent/less off-screen than the SA but is not graphically pictured and a majority is more implied/context clues than anything.
“What is the motive for some of the names in Lythronax’s clowder/his own name?”
My autism lol. But in serious-speak, I’m obsessed with prehistoric things, and when I remembered the translation of the name of the dinosaur Lythronax (Lythronax argestes, a genus of North American tyrannosaurid) it felt fitting and I was on a Mesozoic high because I’d just finished a work of some of my favorite dinosaurs and it seemed absolutely a fit and I thought it’d be a nice nod to my obsession. Lythronax translates roughly to “gore king” which is an equally rough (but fitting) surface description of Smokeflame. Same with Tore and Pachy, though they don’t describe them as well and just sound cool/roughly fit, just a nice nod to my favorite fixation.
(NOTE: I, too, get a little prickly when I see animals named in ways that don’t make sense for their surroundings, like a parrot in the Amazon named Couscous or a snake in the desert named Glacier (aside form human interventional naming) but I’m making excuses for Smokeflame because I’m obsessed with dinosaurs and this character is very important to me)
How would these cats know these animals and their names? Well. Doesn’t matter too much to me. Make up your own reasons if you need a justification; mine is that I like dinosaurs :)
“When/where is the comic placed?”
I picture it as a jungle-y place that has certain aspects of the time of slightly prehistoric Alaska (like that of the Walking With Dinosaurs movie with the  Pachyrhinosaurus) or a mix of the nature. As for when, that can be interpreted. Since there will be no interference from humans, whose looks and behavior could define the time it takes place in, it’s not too definite, but since these are “domesticated cats” at least genus-wise, know it must take place in the last few thousand years lol.
“Is this comic inspired by Warrior cats/what is their relation?”
Their relation is NONE! Respectively, of course. The inspiration is there because I was like ten when I wrote the first book and obsessed with the series, but I didn’t want it to be a fan comic so I turned it into a pretty *original idea (*as original as a ten year old can get lol). It is also like WC with clowders of cats and roles (though besides leader they aren’t definite roles, kind of just cats being there) but I’d rather explore how the two are unalike. Different religions, lore, a subterfuge of power, and a tyrannical cat named after a dinosaur.
Real inspiration is drawn from independent projects like What Lurks Beneath and Waves Always Crash and Jumanalpelko, all comic which I highly recommend. They all have amazing art but what runs deeper is amazing and the stories are so original and interesting, it pulls you in immediately. It may not be my place to say so but I would very much  recommend checking them out, if not for the comic then for the art and lore because they’re fascinating (TW for violence, gore, blood, sickness, and trauma).
As for Warriors, feel free to identify all the similarities you’d like, but because of how much it has evolved, I personally don’t feel the series is that connected to its Warriors cats roots anymore.
“How many chapter will this comic be?”
As many as it takes until it’s over :) It’s (at least for now) three acts, each with around 14 planned chapters, but if things go in a direction I don’t like plot-wise I’ll move that around, so it’s indefinite but with a generally sound progression. I’m not going to give you a full estimate, so don’t worry about that.
“There are trans cats, how does that work? What is the deal with HTR for them?”
There are trans cats, but not really hormone therapy treatment. It is the wild and they aren’t…. humans….. with that technology, but they still have a variety of gender identities (even if they’re not really in terms we’d understand, they don’t specifically have words like trans, gay, lesbian, just what a cat likes to be called by and who they like, for lack of a better term explanation) and expressions. I’m not sure how to explain it, it just kind of is, and fits. Like Spider, he is transmasculine and identifies as a male/a trans tom, and I suppose his nature is just masculine and additionally fits his appearance. And Camellia, she is a trans molly and is naturally feminine so perhaps it’s predetermined or she just grew to be that way. I’m not too sure, but does it really matter? They’re just cats who happen to be trans so I find it doesn’t matter too much since it’s not an aspect of their personality.
But also trans kitties I love :3
*also, quick intervention, you can head-canon any character you’d like to be any gender identity or orientation you’d like, as long as canonical stuff doesn’t go against it (please be respectful of set orientations, disabilities, genders, and the character’s nature themself with head-canons) you can additionally headcanon them as adhd, autistic, spd, etc., as long as it’s not specified that they are not that or are something else; there are a bunch of neurodivergent-coded characters so I don’t blame you for making that canon within them :) just be respectful
“How can Dark be transmasculine but still use she/her?”
Dark is indeed transmasc, but she doesn’t identify/affiliate with being a male, and many transmasc individuals still use she/her and/or a variety of other pronouns. Reminder that you don’t have to be a trans man to be transmasc and gender doesn’t always equal pronouns :) Much like me, she’s transmasc but doesn’t think of herself as a guy, she just is. like existing. She doesn’t care if anyone calls her he or him or they (she is she/any, like myself, so her gender experience is written off my own pretty much lol), she just prefers she/her to any of them. It’s all about what a character is comfortable with.
“What does it mean when the character index says Smokeflame’s gender is ‘indescribable’😭?”
It means it is simply unable to be put into words. I don’t know how to make it any more vague lol. He was originally a character whose gender I didn’t care much about because he was a really hard guy to decipher, then it was agender transmasc, then it was scribbles I couldn’t translate, now it’s just him being himself. He’ll never reveal it, I think (and I won’t share if he’s trans or cis because he may be a villain but I don’t want people misgendering him :( so), and I think it’s kind of cool and adds some mystery to him.
“Where can I find information on a character?”
A majority of the character’s important history can be found in this cheap character index, but if you have any questions about a character, don’t be afraid to send in an ask for any desired information :) if they aren’t answered, it’s probably either because it’s invasive you creep (joking. Maybe) or spoilers!
BOUNDARIES (limits of questions)
Please do not send me overly invasive or personal (you can relate yourself to it, but until I know how to explain my ties to it I don’t want any invasive comparison with myself to this comic or the characters) questions about experiences that led to the creation of this comic, the characters being “wrong” and how some of their choices (mostly murderous) are inhumane (I know that, that’s why the cats who do these things are the villains). This is a comic and idea I hold very close to myself and connects me to something I no longer know and a person I can never see again and I don’t want people making assumptions when they don’t know the whole story. That said, it is almost a little therapeutic to write about some of the themes, even if they’re way out of proportion because they’re cats and I can make it that way lol.
Sorry that got a little serious, but I am very serious about not sending me asks like that, especially if they’re demanding.
Aside from that, comment and ask whatever you’d like. Obviously problematic and vulgar asks are not going to be tolerated (I may use great vocabulary but I am also still a minor so think about that before sending an ask in if it is inappropriate) but if you have a question about any lore or character motives I can explain without getting into spoiler territory, I’d be happy to answer them :)

𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈.  immediately. but jokes aside, i would love to plot things out rather than jumping into a ship. how i portray akechi is very complicated. he doesn't trust easily, nor does he show affection easily. It's got to be earned rather than freely given. Relationships with him require time and patience to develop genuine connections. His complex nature means that he often tests boundaries and remains guarded until someone proves their worth through consistent actions and sincerity. Hence, understanding his intricate personality is key to navigating any meaningful interaction or potential relationship with him.            ↳    I do ship Akira/Akechi; however, just because you write a protagonist, doesn't mean I'll automatically ship with you or force anything. Honestly, I prefer their friendship over their implied romance because the game doesn't give anything other than surface-level interactions that hint at something more. I find the depth of their platonic relationship far more compelling and worth exploring in greater detail. The complexity of their relationship fascinates me, and focusing on their friendship can bring out the nuances of their characters that might be overshadowed by forcing a romantic narrative. That being said, i will only exclusively ship with one akira at a time.
𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒍. as mentioned before, i'm not following the series canon with akechi, and therefore doing my own thing with him. all headcanons and metadumps are mine and mine alone. i've planned everything out even way before i started writing this boy, and it was only exacerbated by the creation of P5R, but ironically i prefer the vanilla version as it has a little history of akechi's that i like. that bing said, please do not take anything i write from this blog. all the information is very specific to me and how i interpret akechi and his life.

Unveiling the Elements of Literary Fiction
Tumblr media
Literary fiction explores the depths of human experience and emotion, weaving a rich tapestry of storytelling that goes beyond simple amusement. Literary fiction, in contrast to genre literature, is more concerned with complex character development, subtle themes, and prose that frequently verges on poetry.
This essay will examine the distinctive qualities that set literary fiction apart and the reasons it occupies a certain position in the literary canon.
Introduction to Literary Fiction
Literary fiction, sometimes known as “serious fiction,” is distinguished by its focus on narrative intricacy, thematic depth, and writing style. Literary fiction tries to challenge readers’ perspectives, arouse emotion, and encourage thought, whereas genre fiction tries to amuse and frequently follows formulaic rules.
Understanding the Elements of Literary Fiction
Character Development
Character development is a crucial element of literary fiction, as it allows authors to craft complex stories that explore the depths of human psychology and emotion. Literary fiction characters experience deep metamorphoses that reflect the complexity of real-life people.
Authors elicit empathy and contemplation from readers by crafting intricately nuanced personas that prompt them to consider moral quandaries and universal truths.
Whether heroes struggle with inner issues or change as a result of outside obstacles, their development propels the story along and gives it realism and resonance. Character development weaves a mirror of society and a window into the human condition into the fabric of literary fiction.
Setting
The setting is an important component in literary fiction that enhances the story’s thematic resonance and narrative depth. Literary fiction uses settings as dynamic components that mirror the characters’ internal issues and societal themes, in contrast to genre literature, where environments frequently serve as backgrounds for action-driven stories.
Literary writers take readers to highly detailed settings that act as miniature representations of the human condition through painstaking attention to detail and vivid descriptions.
Literary fiction uses environments to explore complicated emotions and concepts. Examples of these settings are the lush, metaphorical gardens of Arundhati Roy’s “The God of Small Things” and the desolate metropolitan landscapes of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road.”
Plot Complexity
Literary fiction is known for its intricate plots, which elevate stories above simple narration. Readers are encouraged to delve into the complex interactions between characters and concepts in this genre because of the dense narratives’ levels of complexity, symbolism, and nuance.
Ambiguity and nuance are key components of literary fiction, as they force readers to interpret underlying meanings and ideas. In order to create a rich tapestry of storytelling, authors frequently use nonlinear storylines, various perspectives, and sophisticated frameworks.
This intricacy encourages close reading and sparks debates and interpretations long after the last page is flipped. Essentially, literary fiction’s intricate plots provide as a doorway for in-depth investigation and comprehension...Continue reading
