— storms and spirits
Albert Wesker x f!reader
rated e - 1,214 words
tags: STARS captain Wesker, set just before the events of Resident Evil and the Spencer Mansion situation, reader is Chris Redfield's younger sibling, caught in a storm, drinking after work with your boss
prompt: smooth whiskey / soaked clothes from angellilacs
dividers: saradika graphics
notes: Writing Wesker pre RE is so strange. May have made him a bit too soft here? But I think he'd be keeping his cover as Captain before the betrayal. Since I love fluff and comfort, some ooc behavior makes for a happy author.
Welcome to your first day as a Raccoon Police Department S.T.A.R.S. officer. Don't get caught in a storm while on patrol with your Captain.
You had chosen to follow in your older brother's footsteps. The news would come as a surprise to literally no one though. Chris had raised you after the death of your parents. You even had a Swiss Army Knife in your hand the second you turned thirteen. Both for self defense, but also to be like dearest big brother. Always helping people whenever you could. And that meant being a S.T.A.R.S. officer.
The S.T.A.R.S. team only worked because of all the various skill sets. Each unit was based around a team of five operators and one pilot. Though all members were well versed in tactical combat, each had their own skill set that would prove helpful on missions, ranging from recognition of chemical weapons, computer expertise, criminal science, firearms analysis, and sharpshooting.
You had been a shoe in for the most recent job opening. Volunteering within the S.T.A.R.S. office since you were sixteen, you'd spent weekends cleaning weapons and organizing files of closed cases. Your friendly and hardworking demeanor won everyone over, including Captain Wesker. The older man had actually been the one to slide Chris the job application form to pass along to you. After all, the shine you took to chemistry class had led to a university degree in the subject. The additional first aide training from summers spent as a lifeguard made you a perfect fit for handling chemicals and serving as team medic.
It had been no surprise that you were immediately offered the job. Barry, your favorite officer, even had your favorite donut from Moon's waiting on your desk on your first day. All the required trainings had been passed on your part, and you were cleared for duty. You settled in at your desk while straightening out your white shirt with the S.T.A.R.S. emblem proudly over the left sleeve. The M69 Flak vest in royal blue provided some warmth against the gloomy, dark clouds outside.
It had only been an hour of reviewing documents and answering emails before the assignment came in. A far cry from the standard operation of cyber crime and hostage situations, the task was simply to investigate the orphanage across town. Some residents had complained of screaming and breaking glass at the Raccoon City Orphanage just north of the police station.
"Redfield."
Wesker's clear, commanding voice cuts through the office. Both you and Chris turn to look at your captain emerging from his corner office, both of you starting to rise from your respective desks. Wesker shakes his head before pointing at you.
"Just little red for now. We'll go out and do recon. Barry, you take point until we get back."
You rise to your feet, grabbing your gear. Your leg holsters and combat knife sheath were soon ready with your Beretta 92FS service weapon and custom made combat knife. You fall in step besides Wesker, lengthening your stride to match his. Cutting through the West hallway to the library, you soon make your way out the front entrance.
"We'll walk for now. It'll be quicker."
His voice stops you in your tracks, your path veering off towards the nearby patrol cars parked nearby. You correct your route and walk alongside him once more. A silence that would have been uncomfortable for anyone else falls over you. But, not for you. Someone who knows the way to this man's heart is raspberry donuts and black coffee, as well as any compliment on his black sunglasses that never leave his face.
The walk to the orphanage is brief, the cloudy skies growing darker. A subtle air of annoyance seems to waft from your Captain the closer you get to the crumpling building.
"It's probably nothing. People have been flaky recently. Must be something in the air."
He explained, a hint of coldness in his tone before he peers through the fence at the building. Nothing was out of place, save for the overgrown grass in the front yard. You both spend at least an hour inspecting every inch of the property and questioning the staff of the orphanage. No broken glass, no screams. Nothing. You catch his shoulder's relax slightly as you begin to return to the station.
The weather only waits a mere second before the sky opens up, drenching you both in frigid rainwater. Wesker catches your elbow and silently urges you to speed up. You match his pace as you both run through the rain. Rather, you try. Wesker is hardly winded after your five minute sprint back to the cover of RPD, whereas you are doubled over with your hands on your knees while sucking in precious air. Both of you are utterly soaked to the skin.
You start shivering the second you reenter the police station, the air conditioning biting through your damp uniform. Trudging after Wesker, you disappear into the women's locker room to dry off. You have no clothing here in your locker, no one thinks to bring a backup outfit on their first day. A soft knock at the bathroom door draws your attention, you peek out and see a neatly folded stack of clothing. Much too big for you, the S.T.A.R.S. sweatshirt and black gym shorts could have easily fit any of the male officers. You quickly get changed and return to the S.T.A.R.S. office down the hall.
Thankfully, the rest of your 12 hour shift is uneventful. As you get up to follow Chris to your car, you rub your tired eyes. You still don't know whose clothing you have on your body, but it smells faintly of pomegranate and deep velvet. With two fingers pointed at you, Wesker catches your eye and beckons you into his office.
"Yes, Captain?"
"Sit. How do you feel? No longer shaking like a leaf I see."
"I'm fine, sir. This is definitely not how I imagined my first day."
You sit on the wooden chair before Wesker's desk, watching as the older man rummages through drawers. A small bottle of finely aged whiskey and two shot glasses are set on his desk with a soft clink.
"Tradition, little Red."
Wesker explained, pouring you both two fingers of the bronze liquid in each glass. Chris stifled a laugh from where he waited for you by the door. You knew exactly why, you didn't really drink. And when you did, it was something light and fruity. The complete opposite of the glass before you.
You nod, taking the glass before hesitating. Should you really drink with your boss, even if you aren't on the clock. As if sensing your hesitation, Wesker makes an obvious show of turning his chair away from you before downing his glass. You nod slightly before doing the same, coughing at the sharp burn. As you stand to leave, you catch an amused smirk flit across his face as he collects the glasses. His smooth voice stops you before you can make it out the door.
"I'm sure you'll make me proud. After all, you are one of mine now."
You nod before following your older brother out the door. Chris laughs as he takes in your disheveled appearance with a teasing grin on his face.
"Storms and spirits. What a first day. I'll be sure to keep a close eye on you, little sis."

My Experience with Database Homework Help from DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com
As a student majoring in computer science, managing the workload can be daunting. One of the most challenging aspects of my coursework has been database management. Understanding the intricacies of SQL, ER diagrams, normalization, and other database concepts often left me overwhelmed. That was until I discovered Database Homework Help from DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com. This service has been a lifesaver, providing me with the support and guidance I needed to excel in my studies.
The Initial Struggle
When I first started my database course, I underestimated the complexity of the subject. I thought it would be as straightforward as other programming courses I had taken. However, as the semester progressed, I found myself struggling with assignments and projects. My grades were slipping, and my confidence was waning. I knew I needed help, but I wasn't sure where to turn.
I tried getting assistance from my professors during office hours, but with so many students needing help, the time available was limited. Study groups with classmates were somewhat helpful, but they often turned into social gatherings rather than focused study sessions. I needed a more reliable and structured form of support.
Discovering DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com
One evening, while frantically searching for online resources to understand an especially tricky ER diagram assignment, I stumbled upon DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com. The website promised expert help on a wide range of database topics, from basic queries to advanced database design and implementation. Skeptical but hopeful, I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my academic career.
First Impressions
The first thing that struck me about DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com was the user-friendly interface. The website was easy to navigate, and I quickly found the section where I could submit my assignment. The process was straightforward: I filled out a form detailing my assignment requirements, attached the relevant files, and specified the deadline.
Within a few hours, I received a response from one of their database experts. The communication was professional and reassuring. They asked a few clarifying questions to ensure they fully understood my needs, which gave me confidence that I was in good hands.
The Quality of Help
What impressed me the most was the quality of the assistance I received. The expert assigned to my task not only completed the assignment perfectly but also provided a detailed explanation of the solutions. This was incredibly helpful because it allowed me to understand the concepts rather than just submitting the work.
For example, in one of my assignments, I had to design a complex database schema. The expert not only provided a well-structured schema but also explained the reasoning behind each table and relationship. This level of detail helped me grasp the fundamental principles of database design, something I had been struggling with for weeks.
Learning and Improvement
With each assignment I submitted, I noticed a significant improvement in my understanding of database concepts. The experts at DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com were not just solving problems for me; they were teaching me how to solve them myself. They broke down complex topics into manageable parts and provided clear, concise explanations.
I particularly appreciated their help with SQL queries. Writing efficient and effective SQL queries was one of the areas I found most challenging. The expert guidance I received helped me understand how to approach query writing logically. They showed me how to optimize queries for better performance and how to avoid common pitfalls.
Timely Delivery
Another aspect that stood out was their commitment to deadlines. As a student, timely submission of assignments is crucial. DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com always delivered my assignments well before the deadline, giving me ample time to review the work and ask any follow-up questions. This reliability was a significant relief, especially during times when I had multiple assignments due simultaneously.
Customer Support
The customer support team at DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com deserves a special mention. They were available 24/7, and I never had to wait long for a response. Whether I had a question about the pricing, needed to clarify the assignment details, or required an update on the progress, the support team was always there to assist me promptly and courteously.
Affordable and Worth Every Penny
As a student, budget is always a concern. I was worried that professional homework help would be prohibitively expensive. However, I found the pricing at DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com to be reasonable and affordable. They offer different pricing plans based on the complexity and urgency of the assignment, making it accessible for students with varying budgets.
Moreover, considering the quality of help I received and the improvement in my grades, I can confidently say that their service is worth every penny. The value I got from their expert assistance far outweighed the cost.
A Lasting Impact
Thanks to DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com, my grades in the database course improved significantly. But beyond the grades, the most valuable takeaway has been the knowledge and confidence I gained. I now approach database assignments with a clearer understanding and a more structured method. This confidence has also positively impacted other areas of my studies, as I am less stressed and more organized.
Final Thoughts
If you're a student struggling with database management assignments, I highly recommend Database Homework Help from DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com. Their expert guidance, timely delivery, and excellent customer support can make a significant difference in your academic journey. They don’t just provide answers; they help you understand the material, which is crucial for long-term success.
In conclusion, my experience with DatabaseHomeworkHelp.com has been overwhelmingly positive. The support I received has not only helped me improve my grades but also enhanced my overall understanding of database concepts. I am grateful for their assistance and will undoubtedly continue to use their services as I progress through my computer science degree.

I can't empathize or feel any compassion to when teachers complain online about students and their parents.
I still remember being in school and having a teacher say she wanted us to put fancy stickers and cut out printed out pictures and glue on paper for homework assignments. I explained my parents didn't have the money (NO THE SCHOOL DID NOT HAVE FREE PRINTING SERVICES) so I would draw and color things in for my Bio class homework. Yeah, despite me getting 100 on all assignments and tests she'd give me 40's for the homework. I was making 80's in her class and she didn't even care about that my family was struggling.
Then another teacher who would "lose" my assignments and I kept finding them in trash bins. I went to the principal one day and she said she'd speak to my teacher, but she'd still trash my assignments and I was making 80's despite getting 100's on tests and assignments she couldn'tthrow away. What saved my ass is that it was all computer based, so the teacher couldn't throw it away, but boy, she worked to try making me fail.
Then my grandpa died and left my family in so much debt and my AP science teacher expected me to waste my afternoons after school in his class room with 100+ students for equipment he did not have sufficient enough of. You know, because students should spent hours after school waiting to use equipment. Waste their time, who cares. Then he had the gall to say in college that's how it is too. Lmao, no it wasn't. The classes were small and the college provided all equipment, no one shared. What we had to provide was the workbook we had to pay for. My grandpa dying? Yeah, had to get a job my senior year to help my family pay the debts. I had to get special permission to drop the class and get another.
I wish my parents cared, I wish both my parents were Karen's to the school and got the teachers to fuck off and stop trying to make me fail. I wish I stood up to all those teachers. Don't get me started at the fact I'm POC and all these teachers were white either. I knew racism played a part, but they would never tell. I knew it pissed them off when I'd ace everything.
"Your experiences aren't universal." I don't care, I know out there there's POC students like how I was that are struggling and have some white wannabe influencers making shit hell for them. Education shouldn't be a competition and white people shouldn't jump through hoops trying to make POC fail.

John and Vala Rec List
I love John, I love Vala, and I think they'd be incredible friends, but there aren't a ton of fics about them. So here are some fic recs, posted with the author's summaries unless otherwise noted. Friendship fics are listed first, then slash fics.
Fics where John & Vala are the main focus:
Glad You're Here by Catalina_Leigh (1k, T, gen)
The SGC may not be Atlantis, but at least John has Vala, who loves movies and popcorn as much as he does. And she's happy to have him around.
The SGC Guide To Intergalactic Hookups: An Etiquette Manual by bomberqueen17 (12k, T, John/Rodney, Vala/Daniel)
Not the author's summary: this is part of a larger series, and is set during The Return. Additionally in this series, John and Vala meet in New Friends, he sends her a gift in Rotary Cutter, and she joins him and many others for Christmas in A House A Home.
Fics where John & Vala aren't the main focus:
G******, Pirates and Thieves* (series) by auburn (372k total, M/T, many ships, mostly John/Rodney
Author's summary from the first fic: Vala Mal Doran and her partners, renegades Jehan abd-Ba'al and Meredith McKay, hijack the Tau'ri ship Prometheus and leave the Milky Way behind in search of the Lost City of the Ancients, Atlantis.
No Good Deed by forestgreen (65k, M, John/Cam, Daniel/Jack)
John opened the closed record that Stargate Command had on him and skipped over its content: "Dr John Sheppard, Civilian Consultant to the U.S. Air Force, member of SG-1, PhD in Applied Mathematics and PhD in Computer Science, gifted mathematician with a penchant for stealing, trustworthy." A small, satisfied smirk crooked John's lips. He struck the last part out and added a correction in red: "Gifted thief with a penchant for mathematics, not to trust." He saved the document and erased all traces of his presence in the system. It'd take a while for McKay to figure out that John had found yet another weakness in the SGC network. He ordered pizza and waited for the rest of the SG-1 to arrive. It was Mitchell's turn to pick the movie.
Gray Skies (series) by bluflamingo (27k total, T/E/G, John/Cam)
Not the author's summary: Post-Vegas, John ends up on SG-5 with Cam, Cadman, and Vala.
John/Vala
Good Vibrations by nimuetheseawitch (3k, E, John/Vala)
Vala has discovered the sex toy stores of San Francisco while visiting Atlantis in the Bay and needs to try out all her new gear. John is willing to help. (shameless self-plug)
When There's Nothing Left to Burn by auburn (8k, M, John /Vala, Rodney/Vala)
Neither of them tend to think about the consequences.
Home is Where? by Lyl (2k, T, John/Vala)
The day he was finally assigned his own team, John read their service records and promptly decided to find the nearest bar and get drunk.
So Good to You by busaikko (6k, T, Vala/John, past John/Cam)
Rodney had extorted a promise from John to not get recruited into SG-1 while he was on temporary re-assignment to the SGC. As John finished reciting his marriage vows from the crib-sheet Mitchell had handed him, he suspected Rodney would never let him live this down.
A Wanted Distraction by esteefee (1k, M, John/Vala)
"I thought you were supposed to have magical powers or something," Vala said. "Can't you just think the door open like a good boy?" If she didn't stop squirming like that, John was going to—well, there wasn't a hell of a lot he could do, considering he couldn't move an inch or two in either direction.
Pretty Pickle by esteefee (6k, M, John/Vala)
Vala and John get up to some mischief in the Milky Way.
John/Vala/more
Blame the Apocalypse by estefee (5k, E, John/Sam/Vala)
They stuck to the coastline, because the zombies—infected humans—instinctively avoided the ocean, what with the way saltwater made them dissolve.
Three Days in the Valley by Anagrrl (5k, T, John/Vala/Cam)
Cam never thought he'd be here, out on the sand and scrub. His family had wanted a farm, to grow fields of dark green and golden yellow, the soft brush of leaves audible in the early morning, underneath the drone of insects. They'd tried for it, they really had, but here he is, on horseback, no fields in sight.
(AKA - Vala and Cam herd cattle western AU)
Play Time by bluflamingo (2k, E, John/Vala/Cam)
"This galaxy has John, and a machine that just transformed all three of us into sea otters," Cam corrected
Business or Pleasure? by NeoVenus22 (6k, E, John/Vala/Sam/Cam)
What happens in DC stays in DC.
Fill me like a song do by anonymous (2k, E, John/Vala/Cam/Daniel)
Before standing, she’d kicked her legs off of their perch and nudged John out of the way with the toe of her boot. Tonight, he had asked to be pushed around and manipulated like a piece of furniture and a sex toy, and Vala had started with him as her footstool while she had called Daniel and Cam. The sight of a shirtless and collared John on all fours was making Daniel’s mouth water.

Hello mga ka sheesh, my co- pre-service teachers and Pauliniatics. This is your newbie blogger Stephan Hashley Javier, 19 years old and not ready to be an adult huhu! I am currently taking a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science, and I believe that cram is the best way to finish your activities!
Come along with me and my journey in TTL promising you that this blog is full of sheshableness! :>
THESE ARE MY ANSWER IN OUR FIRST QUIZ IN TTL 1 UNDER MR. MARK FRANCIS ASTOM.
In this blog I will be tackling the different facets in Ict, and will be able to give real life scenarios in each of them. Sit back and read.
Before you start, here is some ice cream, to be more relaxed while reading. <3

____________________
Cloud Computing
Scenario:
It allows me and my fellow students to access updated learning tools from anywhere, making collaboration easier and saving time. Where we can view some digital notes and modules for us to be easy to access. The remote capacity of cloud platforms means that a more diverse range of students can also be reached by educational institutions while lowering costs.
Software
Scenario:
I use software to help me learn more efficiently. This can include games and simulators, flashcard apps, video conferencing, and some online learning apps for , online encyclopedias, or tools like calculators or spellcheckers. For me to make my learning easy. For the past 3 years we have been using some software in our daily life as students, like Microsoft 365 where it is really necessary in the learning process.
Transaction
Scenario:
We are in a transaction everyday we cannot just notice it sometimes, as a lazy person like me I like purchasing online that going to a mall to buy my necessities one of online platforms that I've been using is Tiktok shop, Shoppe, Lazada, Food Panda, and in paying them I am using gcash, gcash is very easy to use and safe also you don't need your wallet too.
Hardware
Scenario:
As an education student the first thing that we need is Gadgets like phones, laptop, printer, wifi, and etc. So it is easy for us to access some online learning access.
Digital Data
Scenario:
As a student I rely more on digital data to have more accuracy, because judgments and actions are made by computers rather than people, so it is greater accuracy in terms of assigned duties. Also it is faster and wider reached because the digital data can contact and provide data to many individuals simultaneously and at the one push of a button, it is really incredibly and considerably faster to use and to access with.
Internet Browsers
Scenario:
Web Browsers allow me to access websites, search for information, shop online, and connect with my friends worldwide. They can translate complex web code into user-friendly pages, making the internet accessible to everyone and easy to use too and it is also relevant to our journey as students and future educators.
Computers and Technology
Scenario:
Last semester in one of our subjects, the teacher required us to create our own research. We need to gather information on renewable energy sources. Computers and technology help us and guide me on how to use computers and technology effectively for our very own research. Computers and technology have really been a powerful tools for research. First, we begin by identifying reliable online sources. We also used search engines to find reputable websites, academic journals, and research papers related to renewable energy sources. We also made sure to evaluate the sources for credibility and relevance. From this scenario, we, student reallt needs to seeks guidance on using computers and technology in making research. Where even the teacher provides information on finding reliable online sources, the computers and technology still hits diff.
Online Access
Scenario;
I noticed this during the pandemic in 2020 where the pandemic started, the Philippines Local Government implemented the Digital Online Class where the students started to rely on Online sources. Then nowadays we noticed that the majority of the population relies heavily on the internet for various aspects of their lives. Country is known for its strong community spirit and commitment to progress. Where online access has become an integral part of everyday life, enabling the people to stay connected, access information, and even on conducting and relying on their businesses.
In the Philippines the local government has implemented a digital infrastructure plan to ensure that every school has access to high-speed internet. This initiative has transformed the country into a hub of digital innovation, attracting new businesses and entrepreneurs who appreciate the convenience and opportunities provided by online connectivity such as online sellings and etc.
The citizens in the Philippines and also all over the world have embraced the benefits of online access in their daily lives. Students can easily access educational resources and participate in online learning programs. Small business owners can reach a wider customer base through e-commercial platforms. Professionals and un-professionals can also work remotely, saving time and reducing commuting expenses. Even healthcare services have become more accessible through telemedicine, allowing people to consult doctors online without leaving their homes that's another benefit of online access.
The community has also leveraged online platforms to enhance social interactions and support local initiatives. Online forums and social media groups have become platforms for sharing ideas, organizing events, and fostering a sense of belonging. The students have been actively participating in virtual seminars because it is easy for them to access, they don't need to travel at all and it's less hassle, where they can freely voice their opinions and contribute to decision-making processes.
Online access has also played a crucial role ti us as we response to emergencies and natural disasters. The local government uses digital communication channels to provide real-time updates and instructions to residents, ensuring their safety and well-being. Also Online fundraising campaigns have been successful in mobilizing support during times of crisis, allowing the community to come together and help those in need.
Online access has become a lifeline for the people, empowering them to thrive in a digital age. The country serves as an example of how a strong digital infrastructure can enhance the quality of life, foster economic growth, and strengthen community bonds.
____________________________________________
Here I am emphasizing Learning process because all that I've mentioned was all interconnected w/ each other. Online access in the learning process, where the teachers can a make use of the internet by proving the students with extra study material and resources such as interactive lessons, educational quizzes as well as tutorials. Teachers can also record their lectures and provide it to the students for revisions which is better than reading from notes. We cannot deny the fact that every student always uses their gadgets so it is easy for them to access their notes when it is digital.
Online access can be applied in various ways in teaching learning in Virtual Classes Online access can be applied in teaching and learning in various ways to enhance the educational experience. Here are some examples is the Virtual Classes where Online access allows teachers and students to connect through video conferencing platforms, enabling live virtual classes, Online Learnings where we can utilize online learning platforms which the teachers can create and share educational resources such as lecture notes, videos, quizzes, and assignments, Collaborative Projects where nline access enables students to collaborate on projects and assignments, even when they are not physically present in the same location where they can also create group chats so they can communicate with each others, Multimedia Content with this the implementer can incorporate multimedia content into their lessons to make them more engaging and interactive, and also in Online Assessments where Online access allows for the administration of online assessments, including quizzes, tests, and exams or diagnostic exam trough google drives, and etc.

Before they Fell
[Just a note that if you or any of your loved ones have served/are serving in the military, thank you for your service. And special thank you to all of our fallen soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice]
Jose was quiet at dinner that evening. His family was chattering all around him: his brother discussing the latest soccer game with their father, his two sisters gossiping about their coworkers. Now and then he felt his mother's eyes flick to him. He didn't have to look to know the expression on her face: a mixture of worry and pride.
Tomorrow morning he would be on the bus to boot camp, and from there the army would assign him somewhere.
Ever since he passed the medical exam-- just barely; there'd been some concern about his eyesight-- Jose felt that same mixture of worry and pride his mother was now displaying. He always imagined his career would let him work behind a desk with computers. Things didn't work out quite like that, but Jose could hope he wouldn't see that much combat. The news said the war was pretty much over.
“I'll help clean up,” he volunteered when the meal drew to a close. He gathered all the dishes and set about scrubbing them in the sink. They did own a dishwasher but the thing was old and needed elbow grease to do some of its job. If they put him on kitchen duty during boot camp, Jose was well ahead of the game.
“Mijo,” his mother called to him. He turned at her voice before going back to scrubbing. “You've been quiet all evening, mijo,” she went on.
“Just thinking about tomorrow, mama.”
“Let tomorrow worry about itself,” she counseled, and Jose smiled recognizing the Bible passage. Most of his mother's advice came from there. “Know that we are all very proud of you and will go to Saint Michael every day on your behalf.”
“Thanks, mama.” He didn't want to say it, but Jose didn't feel like much of a warrior. He wondered if he would start once training began. “I'll write to you as much as I can,” he added.
“Good.” His mother leaned in to kiss his cheek. “Don't forget to dry those when you're done.”
“I've been doing the dishes for years, mama,” Jose protested. She chuckled and brushed his fingers through his hair.
“Just giving you a taste of military life, mijo. Those drill sergeants will not go easy on you.”
“Then it's a good thing I have you and papa to prepare me,” he teased. She gave him a light slap on the arm before going back into the sitting room. Jose's smile lingered for a moment longer before fading. He tugged out the gold chain around his neck and kissed the cross.
Watch over them while I'm gone, he prayed silently.

Clarice still couldn't believe she got an assignment with the United States military. The interview was surprising enough but to be selected! She didn't even know the military had a division for the more scientifically-inclined: she thought they were all guns and bombs and other weapons of war.
She read through all the information they gave her. She had to fill out a bunch of forms once she accepted the job due to the classified nature of the project. That was probably the only downside: she couldn't boast about this to her family.
It was too bad, because the project was revolutionary. If it all came together, it would use satellite data to use thermal imaging data in determining weapon locations. It was apparently the brain child of an Air Force nuclear engineer. In a weird way, Clarice was proud of this person and they hadn't even met yet.
They proved that not everyone in the military was a jarhead, just as she proved that a woman who dressed “punk” could get a doctorate.
What would this Eric King guy be like? How long would it take them to complete the project? The excitement of it all bubbled up inside her. A project like this was exactly why she turned to science in the first place. She could hardly wait.

Nathan pushed himself out from under the belly of the car. He'd been working to restore the damn thing for a long time now and it still needed work. But hell, that was why he bought the junker in the first place. His wife thought he was crazy for doing it but he assured her it would be a money-maker once it was fixed up. Besides that, Nathan loved a challenge.
“It's why I married you,” he explained to her. Lori had replied by flipping him the bird. Goddamn, he loved that woman.
He washed his hands before slipping his wedding ring back on his finger. He thought about getting a chain for it and wearing it that way once he was shipped off, but his ring finger always felt naked without it. And if he was going to be naked, Nathan preferred it to be in the fun way.
“How's our baby?” Lori asked him the moment he was inside.
“Looks like she's cooking just fine,” Nathan answered with a meaningful flick to Lori's swelling middle.
“I meant the car, you lughead.”
“It's coming along. Should be done by the time I ship out.”
“Good, I could use the money it's supposedly worth while you're gone.” She turned to pour him a cup of coffee. “How long is the tour again?”
“Shouldn't be more than six months.” He took the coffee but set it aside again and reached for his wife instead. He patted her belly before moving a hand up to her breast. She complained about them being tender now and then so Nathan tried to be gentle. “Just in time for you to pop, babe.”
“Speaking of popping,” Lori hummed, reaching down between his legs, “the little soldier is standing at attention.”
“You gonna take him on a tour of duty?” Nathan smirked against her ear.
“Sure.” She flashed him a mischievous look. “I don't think it'll be six months, though. Maybe six seconds, if I'm lucky.”
“Nice one,” he approved. He was going to miss this-- miss her-- but that car would indeed keep her and their baby secure once he finished with it.
With Lori's hand on his crotch, though, there was something much more immediate that needed to finish.

Dar spread out his prayer mat and spoke the words. He always started with gratitude before moving on to asking forgiveness and lifting up his burdens. It was getting harder and harder to come up with gratitude these days. Years of serving the military and this was where it led him: his country overrun with Americans, the Guard broken apart.
He knew he was a stubborn man-- Fatima told him that often enough-- but it was that fighter nature that helped him rise to the rank of captain. He prayed to Allah that it would work for him now. Dar knew he should be praying that Allah take this anger and hatred out of his heart, but he didn't.
In truth, he was likely becoming a bit obsessive with his need to get back at the Americans somehow. Dar knew that the moment he caught the whiff of movement from their military, he would be gathering his own troops. Going after one unit would likely not do much in the end. It would still be satisfying, though, to have that one victory.
He would be granted that, Dar was sure.

First draft of Service Grays:
Service Grays are very close to Star Trek's Monster Maroons.

The major difference on sight being the main color, a bit more piping, and that there are usually two colors on a uniform. The shoulders displaying the division color.
A single color uniform usually designates that the wearer is the senior officer of that division on the assignment. The obvious exception is for Cadets and Ensigns who get no division coloration, so they're just all gray. But that's how you might tell the difference between the First Officer and Captain. The first officer will have green across the shoulders with the rest still gray. The captain will have a full green coat.

There are significantly more pockets in Service Grays. There are five pockets in the pants. One large pocket at the back that is hidden under the skirt of the jacket. Two on each leg of the pants: one at the hip (where our pockets typically are) and one cargo pocket at mid thigh. The jacket of the Service gray also has two pockets in the skirt at belt level so the belt can help keep the pockets closed or hidden.
The belt is not merely decorative. It's a utility belt with three major attachment points. Where the buckle is on the Monster Maroon, the utility belt has a detachable communicator / emergency locator / ship interface. While nothing else is required to be worn without notice, most people carry a micro-computer padd - essentially the same thing as our mobile phones / with some barebones tricorder functions. When deployed from the arsenal, phasers attach to the same major belt connection on the other side. The phaser and micro-computer attachments are identical, so any crewmember can switch them around for their own preference and convenience. "Portable" tricorders can attach to the connection as can other small specialist equipment.
Belts can be modified within regulations to hold more attachment points. But larger pieces of equipment, such as full scientific or medical tricorders, have to be carried independently of the belt.
Special cases are generally easy to accommodate and where there is an issue, it's up to the CO of the assignment, who tends to be given more latitude the farther away they are from central command. For instance the senior science officer will probably be in all blue. But the senior science officer who is also the first officer will have the main body of the coat in blue and the shoulders in command green.

The final relatively common style is the parallel specialist. Someone serving aboard an assignment but not considered a standard part of the crew hierarchy. That's usually the all-black variant.

All black usually indicates that the parallel specialist is part of a separate mission and is just tagging along. Black with gray shoulders is the default and shows that they're to be treated as part of the crew. But a specialist can be attached to a division as well, showing their expertise in a related field. They can even be given command designations within the chain of command or be charged with the temporary command of a ship for the completion of their mission.

Identify Your Career Objectives The first step is to understand what you want to achieve with your MCA degree. Whether it's becoming a software developer, IT manager, or data analyst, your goal should guide the program you select.
Evaluate Specializations Many online MCA programs in India offer electives or concentrations like Data Science, AI, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing. Choose a program that offers a specialization relevant to your desired career path.
Check Accreditation and University Reputation Only consider programs that are UGC-approved and offered by reputed institutions. Accreditation ensures your degree will be recognized by employers both in India and abroad.
Review the Curriculum Ensure the curriculum is industry-oriented and regularly updated. It should include practical assignments, case studies, and project work that helps you apply theoretical knowledge in real scenarios.
