I have such a huge space in my heart for Nicky Hemmick.

No, his actions of kissing neil are not excusable. I know that, but his past strikes a cord that is heartbreaking.

Nicky Hemmick, who was shunned and cast out by his parents for who he loves. Who was sent to a gay conversion camp, most likely forced to be with women, and then pretended to be straight and date women just to appease his parents. Who tried so hard to reclaim his parent’s love and was so lost and lonely and empty that he wanted to end it all. Who escaped to Germany just to get away and finally found love and acceptance.

Who gave up the life he worked so hard for to raise his two vulnerable cousins at nineteen years old. Who, instead of going back to Germany, joined them for 5 years in college just so they’d go in the first place.

Nicky, who despite his faults and nosiness, treats Neil like family and tries so hard to get in with the upperclassmen. Teaches his cousins German. Worked two jobs to stay afloat. Bought them a home. Was mugged outside a club. Stands up for the twins despite how they’ve treated him in return. Has faith that his mother may love him if he just shows her how well he’s doing. Who lets Aaron get away with his mean comments and puts up with Andrew’s violence when he could easily drop out and go back to Germany if he really wanted.

Some people see Nicky’s background as lesser when comparing the Foxes, but Nicky was drug through hell and then willingly went back for the twins. Nicky has persevered.

Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver #4 - Magneto dropping in just to say the most divorced-from-his-character line to Pietro, the one child that has been by his side at his worst, goes straight into the pile of ‘shit that actually never happened in marvel comics’ right next to Rogue calling Magneto a monster for killing a nazi.

It’s ok to skip issues and runs that make no sense. Don’t let them hurt you. 😶 Marvel characters being consistent are at the mercy of who’s writing them at any given time.

hrrmm got my brain on the magneto: origins movie script

errr spoilers if you ever wanted to read the script for yourself:

for the first part of the movie this was just erik: 🥺😿

he was a tad bit fruity in this movie despite having a wife and child (WHO DIE AGAIN THEY CANNOT CATCH A BREAK)

if you looked hard enough he was flirting with that american agent BRO MOVES ON FAST

and then he was also definitely checking charles out while he played sport you cannot tell me otherwise

if you just changed charles to a girl idk what would’ve stopped the writers from making him the love interest

THEY RAN OUT A BAR GIGGLING AND HOLDING HANDS AFTER BEATING SOME PEOPLE UP WHAT IS THIS

they also worked together to stop a bunch of tanks and i think n*zi’s from invading the hospital charles was working at. They smiled at eachother while doing so wtf

at one point erik went to go meet up (and i think threaten) his ex-boyfriend who kinda betrayed him (american agent) and then proceeded to get arrested but then his current boyfriend came to save him

i kinda lost the plot during the last bit of this

they never really made clear WHY erik became magneto, for the most part of this movie he was more n*zi hunting then avenging his mutant heritage.

like the guy he was hunting down the whole movie did experiment on him cause he was a mutant and at the end he had captured other mutant kids and charles and erik went to go save them

but erik didn’t even interact or think about the mutant kids all he cared about was the scientist guy

it was charles who saved the mutants

just saying charles was pretty cool in this movie he wasn’t entirely limiting his telepathy

im pretty sure erik being a mutant was sidelined in this movie apart from him using his powers every so often

going back a bit but i remember erik saying he had to leave to charles and they were both kinda sad about it and then one the scientist’s lackeys or whatever came to attack erik (he failed) but he told erik they were blowing up the hospital

charles was smart enough to get everyone out before that happened but basically erik came running back and then told charles he was leaving AGAIN he just wanted to make sure pookie didn’t die

theres a lot more to this movie but this was basically what im just thinking about.

So, interestingly enough, I am en electrician, and the ways that electromagnetism and electricity work together is so closely intertwined that writers really should take advantage of how much of a GOD Magneto is. Like he says it somewhere, but he controls a very fundamental force of nature, and in theory, the list of shit he can't do is shorter than what he can with his powers. It's always just a mashup of whether or not the writer is going to take advantage of that, or if they have to nerf him for plot reasons. Like, for instance, he should team up with Storm way more often, because together they'd be overwhelmingly unstoppable.

i think my favorite interpretation of the extent of erik's powers really is if he just decides/knows to lock in cause Theoretically Potentially Maybe Im Not A Scientist Dont Quote Me every atom has the potential to be magnetized. like my brother and i love talking about this cause you just know in the sixties they really werent thinking that much with magneto's powers and then Unfortunately As Humans we learned more and its like 'oh ok so he's an immense threat for a reason beyond what we figured Thats Nice'

him and storm DEF could be more of a threat if they worked consistently together and i loved bein able to see that near the end of FoX and Resurrection. that was rad ....

I love that Erik is actually making Mathias be a better person.

This is a guy that, when pressed, still refused to admit to Sara that he helped expose her deepest secret.

Yet with Erik, he felt the need to come clean about the part he played in the team attacking him.

I also thought it was really sweet the way he said 'I really care about you... a lot' and was just so desperate to find a way to fix things between them.

Which of course leads us to THIS hug...

The way Mathias pours everything into trying to comfort Erik after finding out what he went through with his old teammates was so soft. Especially because he knows he was partially responsible for putting him through that a second time.
