How were you introduced to TOA? I played FE4 and the brainworms took over, so I started following the genealogy tag on tumblr. I kept seeing posts about X character being accepted to the officer's academy, so eventually I looked into what that was all about.

Do you have any pets? No.

What is your favourite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) My wardrobe is minmaxed for warm weather, I hate layers and I like having my window open, and having hours and hours of daylight. So summer.

What is your IRL occupation? IT.

Some interests and things you like/enjoy? Pixel art and cross-stitch, card games, social deduction games, doctor who, long walks.

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Zero escape, Aitsf, puyo puyo tetris, balatro, slay the spire, ace attorney, umineko, other vns.

Favourite Pokemon type & Pokemon: Delphox. I like dragon, fire and dark types.

I like dressing fancy. I regularly go to hang out with my friends wearing floor-length gowns, my grandad's boat cloak, and heels. I have a drag queen friend who sometimes gives me clothes he doesn't want any more, and it's great.

(Apart from the wrinkle where RD is technically my brother's and not mine) I own every FE game that got an English release.

I will always spell things the British way.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? At the time feh was released I was just playing every nintendo mobile game that came out. I thought the characters were cute and I found a second-hand copy of birthright sometime later. I then had to wait until Christmas to play it cause my brother's 3DS was broken.

Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! I liked M!Robin's art in heroes and he was the first 5* I summoned. Also I fell in love with Kaden the instant I met him cause he's cute (unfortunately my Corrin was already married)

Any Fire Emblem crushes? Like so many. For brevity I'll give the biggest one from each game: Wolf, Sonya, Arvis, Karel (FE7), Joshua/Cormag, Nasir, Reina, Jeritza, Zelkov. Shout out to Arvis for being the reason I played FE4 to begin with, and Jeritza cause the morning he became playable and bisexual I went insane.

If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? I prefer to S support a new character each run cause I like filling the support log. The only time I've S supported a character more than once is the bisexual ones in 3H. So instead I'm giving my first and my favourite. Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? I had Larcei for over a year and honestly I'm really happy with what I did with her (even if rereading her stuff makes me cringe). So as much as I love her I have no strong reason to pick her up... apart from that swordmaster drabble I never got around to.

Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) There's overlap between the 'old' and 'new' gens of my muses. There's a hotheaded sword girl, a mage with issues :tm: and a cute blond guy. I think I have an easier time writing characters that have a positive outlook, and say what they mean.

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Idk really. I don't think I'm that good at writing sad shit, so muses that have heavier stuff going on I'd struggle with.

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I like being a little silly. Some of my favourite posts have been where I've just thought up some nonsense, and allowed myself to write it.

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I want Forde to be obliterated emotionally. I do not care if these emotions are positive or negative.

Favourite TOA-related memories? SO many this group is awesome. I loved coming back after some time off and seeing what muses were still around. There's one in particular that Larcei and Forde are both close friends with and it cheeses me so much. Anyway happyland was my favourite event ever thank you mods.

Unofficial Gay Fates 1.9 is out! It adds in 23 new supports, as well as dozens of fixes to older supports to bring them up to par.

The videos of these supports have already been up today since this morning, and some of you may have noticed only some of them feature our added voice lines. The mod team decided for the sake of speed and ease on us, that we're dropping the voice lines in our supports, as adding those alone doubles the time it takes to work on each support. In the future once most—if not all—the supports have been added we may go back and add them to the supports that lack them.

Despues del Acontecimiento de Mewtwo y Kyurem y dicha historia Borrada sobre como Mewtwo Lunar fue lastimada. Dicha Historia dejó de existir y recordando la Verdadera historia en el que Genesect fue manipulado junto a sus aliados en el que Mewtwo fue a Salvarlos. Y hasta hacerlo entrar en Razón aunque Lastimada pero jamas Se Rindió. Y despues de Caer junto con el hasta salvarlos. Mewtwo Lunar al final me agradeció por lo que Hice. Y dijo hasta pronto. Regresó con Kyurem Lunar para Recibirlo con los Brazos abiertos aparte de besar Kyurem los Labios de Mewtwo hasta abrazar su pecho. Descubriendo que es una Mewtwo Femenina una Noche Mewtwo Lunar le pidió a Kyurem que le quitara el holoatuendo hasta besarla y estar acostado con la Princesa Mewtwo en el Suelo.

Sus sentimientos Intimos florecieron hasta entregarse al Dragón amado pero no quiere traicionar a Lugia.

Poco tiempo despues Lugia se enteró del Romance de La Princesa Mewtwo y decidió que era mejor asi. Lugia confió en que Mewtwo y Kyurem la buscaran asi que los 3 fueron desde kalos y Alola.

Alola justo cuando Lunala y Solgaleo les dió la Bienvenida se lleva bien con Todos Menos Xerneas ya que Mewtwo informó de lo Peleonera que era Rosa Xerneas. Reconoció lo que Sufrió Mewtwo Lunar por lo que el Tema drop of Rain fue su alivio para calmar esa Pelea.

Kyurem y Mewtwo Lunar tuvieron momentos Intimos en jardín melemele ella Apasionada entre flores Kyurem decidió quitarle Su vestimenta De Artes Marciales ya que en ella llevaba la Mewtwoita X. Puesto que A pesar de Alegre y inocente. Sus Sentimientos hacia Kyurem fueron intimos hasta permitir que Kyurem tocara su pecho y besar su cuello hasta acostarla entre las Flores.

En la Mañana cuando Kyurem llegó Mewtwo Lunar la esperó con unas Flores Tapando su pecho Abdomen y una de Sus piernas. Por lo que Kyurem decidió quitar esas Flores y despertar ese Placer de la Princesa Mewtwo.

Cuando ocurrió el Alola dark eclipse Mewtwo Lunar lloró xq no pudo protegerme y tampoco el Mundo que Protegió Lunala.

Lunala con una actitud gentil decidió que mejor es estar en galar.

Galar:Años despues es ahi donde Zacian y Zamazenta llegaron. Los acojieron a todos con una calida Bienvenida. Zacian al principio despues de perder a Su Rey y lo mismo por Zamazenta le dió palabras de aliento

Un Amor despierta ante estos 2 Legendarios

Zacian comenzó a besar el hocico de Zamazenta hasta que de un regazo la abrazó hasta rozar su cuerpo con el de Zacian. Sus gemitres de loba fueron fuertes pero de la nada se sintió atraida por la Atraccion de Zamazenta es como si Zamazenta se trepara como los Leones apareando leonas.

Zacian enamorada de Zamazenta luego lucharon contra eternatus y hacerlo entrar en Razón.

Ya en paldea su amor sigue siendo el mismo. Pero por razones obvias deciden ocultarlo como fue con Mewtwo y Kyurem.

Zamazenta Se trepó ante Zacian como si la estuviese apareando y Zacian susurrando que la ama. Aunque El siente que esa costumbre debe dejarla por el momento. De ese Sentimiento explicito nació 2 de su misma especie por lo que Estos peques al final lucharon para proteger galar. Despues de ser familia unida los pequeños crecieron y dijeron adiós antes de despedirse prometieron que nunca los olvidará

Zacian y Zamazenta vivieron juntos cumpliendo la promesa de Sus pequeños Sucesores que Crecieron. Junto a un nuevo entrenador. Pero volvieron a tener Relaciones hasta besar su hocico su amor es eterno e inquebrantable.

Entry 14: Groans of Increasing Discomfort

Heading back to the castle, it seems I’ve accumulated a ton of new buildings to buy. I can buy a statue of Mozu which probably costed more than her entire village, a ballista and shuriken launcher to use in castle battles, a bunch of puppets to give me nightmares (they fight for you in castle battles too I guess), a shop to buy new units (both generics and clones of the soldiers I already have), and a hot spring. Because fanservice. You can run into other units in there, everyone is in their underwear and blushing, half of the decisions that were made in this game’s development were solely for the sake of horniness, yada yada yada. I actually tried to leave and the game stopped me, because Sakura was showing up and it’s necessary to get that bath time with the teenage girl. The hot springs does have a use, admittedly, but it won’t become apparent for a few chapters.

Support: Lady Corrin/Reina

C: Corrin sees Reina talking to an old man and asks her about it. Reina explains that he reminds her of her parents, who cut her out of their life when she became a soldier. And also, apparently, don’t give a shit about her being the personal retainer to the goddamn Queen. Actually, wait, hold on. Where the hell was Reina when Mikoto got blown up? You know what? Her parents should be ashamed of her, she’s a terrible bodyguard.

B: Corrin tells Reina she should visit her parents. Which makes sense; Corrin points out that she’s an orphan and wishes for any relationship with a parent, no matter how strained. Reina tells Corrin that she became a soldier because she really, really, really likes killing people. Corrin volunteers to find out how Reina’s parents are doing.

A: Corrin tells Reina that her parents are doing fine. Reina retcons the last conversation by revealing that she became a soldier to protect her family’s peasants. Nowadays, though, it’s all about that murder.

Review: This one was fine. Corrin wanting to help Reina is a nice bit of characterization, but there isn’t much more to say about this one.

Now, you may be wondering why I referred to Corrin as Lady Corrin in the last bit. Reina actually has completely different supports depending on Corrin’s sex. Most characters have identical supports with Corrin, or if not that just minor dialogue changes (For example, Camilla and Laslow, off the top of my head). But characters like Reina, who can only support Corrin, get two conversations. I suppose it’s for the best, considering those characters would otherwise be incredibly out of focus as opposed to merely extremely out of focus.

Support: Lord Corrin/Reina

C: Corrin sees Reina carrying an apron, which weirds him out, because of the whole murder hobo thing.

B: Reina reveals her sheltered noblewoman housewife in training turned soldier backstory and says that the apron was a gift from her parents before they cut her out.

A: Reina says that her parents cried when she became a knight and that she keeps the apron out of gratitude for them.

S: Corrin, off screen, goes back to Hoshido to talk to Reina’s parents. Apparently they’re proud of her. And he asked to marry her, which she accepts, because she cannot imagine life without him. Apparently.

Review: So, these are kinda the same support? I mean, the actual words are different, but they cover the same information. It’s weird that they were split into two conversations. Whatever. The second one is better, because it gives this really fun characterization of Reina being a friendly team mom when she isn’t stabbing people so she can hear them gasp their last breaths. Also, it resolves the plotline. On the other hand, the S-Rank is really mediocre. Reina saying she relies on Corrin daily is ridiculous, given what we’ve seen. Overall, the problem with Reina is that she just has these two conversations. And one with Kanna, I guess, but that one is recycled from other characters. If Reina was a more fleshed out character that interacted with other characters, she might work as a character. But, as it stands, all she has is her recruitment and two mediocre supports.

Support: Hinata/Takumi

C: Hinata kicks down the door to Takumi’s room so he can tell him that he’s going to start a fighting tournament so he can beat people up.

B: Hinata beats people up.

A: Hinata reveals that he’s beating people up to cheer up Takumi, because Takumi looks happy when he cheers him on. I feel like he could have, I don’t know, asked Takumi how to cheer him up in advance instead of just assuming and doing something he said he didn’t want, but whatever. The two bond over Hinata beating people up.

Review: I think this one helped me hone in on why a lot of Fire Emblem supports don’t work. Supports are, by their very nature, just dialogue. So, when you get a support like this, that relies heavily on something happening, it ends up as telling not showing. That’s why the best supports rely on dialogue rather than explain something that happened off screen.

Support: Kagero/Saizo

C: Kagero and Saizo get into an argument over how to train royal guards, with Kagero pointing out that Saizo’s hard as nails “be ready to die for the monarchy” speech just stressed people out. Saizo blames the new recruits for being inexperienced.

B: Saizo endangers the life of his men to succeed on a mission and Kagero calls him out on it. Saizo points out that victory requires sacrifice and war is unforgiving. The two of them point out that they’ve had this exact argument again and again, and it’s the reason they broke up when they were dating.

A: Kagero and Saizo win a big battle together and admit that they work well together.

S: Saizo points out that their relationship failed because they kept trying to change each other and forgot that they loved each other. The two of them decide to give it another shot.

Review: This one has a much more solemn and reserved tone than most supports, which helps it stand out. It isn’t great, but it has a good tone and I actually don’t dislike Saizo and Kagero as a couple. Them being a flawed couple that broke up over their differences, then trying it again after maturing and becoming more rounded people is a lot more realistic than most relationships in this game.

Birthright Chapter 12: Dark Reunion

The gang arrives in Cyrkensia, a city in Nestra, a country that I forgot existed because this is the only part of the game where it is mentioned. Cyrkensia is a popular vacation spot with a big opera house that appeared in the intro.

A kitsune named Kaden goes up to the party and explains that he’s in town to repay a favor to someone. This introduction feels like when you introduce a new player halfway through a D&D campaign and they quickly explain their deal after walking up to the party.

Kaden introduces his friend Layla, who explains that she’s a singer at the opera house, but can’t perform tonight because her mother is dying. Also she’s singing for King Garon, the evil king who is on vacation a week after starting a brutal war. Azura volunteers to perform in Layla’s steed so the party can do some patricide. Now, you may be thinking, did the game do the stupid trope of having Azura and Layla look identical? Surprisingly, no, they didn’t. Everything else about this chapter is so cliche I assumed they would, but they actually remembered Zola has illusion magic that the party never uses. Also, because we helped the person Kaden has to help, he now owes us a favor, and will totally kill dozens of soldiers in a war he doesn’t give a shit about if we ask him to.

Kaden

Kaden is a Kitsune, this game’s equivalent of Laguz or Taguel from past games. He wields a special weapon called a Beast Stone that allows him to fight by turning into a big ass fox. His personal skill heals units who heal him. He’s a glass canon who does extra damage to cavalry, giving him an interesting niche. His human design is fine, but not remarkable. His fox design is cool, especially regarding the blue fire that floats around him; that said, the spikes on the legs are weird. Personality wise, he seems to be a go lucky idiot who stumbled into joining us.

When the party arrives at the opera house, Corrin notices Elise, who looks sad. Azura, who doesn’t look like Layla for the player, goes on stage. Azura sings the only song she knows, the magic one that breaks mind control, which makes Garon...groan in increasing discomfort, which makes me also feel discomforted. Also Azura does a bunch of crazy water magic, which is a bit extra.

Garon orders his troops to capture us, because Zola betrayed us. Gasp. Shocking. Zola does admittedly beg Garon to spare us. Garon kills him for even suggesting it, right in front of his young daughter, because Garon is a cartoon supervillain. Zola dies begging Corrin to forgive him and Garon calls Corrin weak for having sympathy. Takumi threatens to kill Garon, but Corrin points out that they need to leave if they want to live. Which is smart; Garon has ridiculously high stats.

This battle sees our units fighting on boats floating in the opera house, which is a cool setting for a battle. On turn three, some reinforcements arrive. Xander, who’s still pissed about the whole traitor thing. With him are Peri, a cavalier with cotton candy hair, and...is that Inigo? That’s Inigo, from Awakening. That’s fucking Inigo! What is Inigo doing here, and more importantly, why is he working for the very obviously evil bad guys?

There’s a Dragon Vein you can use to freeze all the water, which would make this level easier, if it wasn’t already a broken easy level. To beat this level, you need to get Corrin to a specific spot. Corrin can’t walk on water, so you need to fight through an onslaught of tough enemies. There’s just one problem: Hinoka or Subaki can carry Corrin directly to the end. I fought the enemies, because why not, but I didn’t have to.

I ignored Garon because he’s able to one shot literally every unit in my army, but I did decide to take on team Xander. Side note, I looked up Garon’s battle quote after the fact, and he says this to Corrin: “I may not be your father, but I will slap you down like a child.” I take back everything bad I ever said about Garon.

Peri, as it turns out, is a sadistic sociopath, because Nohr. Inigo...excuse me, Laslow, blushes when we stab him. And Xander steals Inigo’s famous crit quote from the Princess Bride.

Peri and Laslow went down easy, but Xander was almost as bad as Garon. Even with his bonus against cavalry, Kaden only did one point of damage per hit. I had to resort to the classic strategy of throwing disposable soldiers at him until he was weak enough for Corrin to Dragonstone.

This was a great map, with a creative setting, multiple ways to approach it, tough bosses, and an exploit that makes it completely skippable. Still, it’s the only Birthright chapter with a creative goal, so it deserves a little credit.

After escaping the opera house, Xander chases after us, despite being defeated ten seconds earlier. Elise gets in his way, telling him that if he’s going to fight someone, he should fight her. As Corrin runs, Xander warns that it is her destiny to fight him.

After escaping Xander again, Corrin finds Azura collapsed on the ground, exhausted. She’s going to die at the end of the game, isn’t she?

Unbreakable Bonds

Happy birthday to my friend! Barely made it in time, too! This is for a friend of mine who’s been with me for a long time, and despite whatever’s distance’s been put between us, I know our bonds are stronger than anything that’s put on our ways. I wanted to express these feelings with this homage to his favorite character from Fates, Hinoka, filled with my best wishes for him; and for us. May they never break!

Winter was approaching Castle Shirasagi with each passing day. But still, a bright red-haired princess made sure to wait every single day by the outer gardens for her cherished little brother and father to come back from their expedition.

Princess Hinoka was swinging her little legs over the enzawa, eagerly looking at the royal outer garden, expecting their return. “When do you think they’ll come back?” She would ask at least once per day, always making sure to have her meals on rooms leading to the garden.

Mikoto would laugh and pat the little girl’s thick and long hair. “They’ve been gone for only a little while, Hihi. Please be patient.”

She would pout and puff her cheeks and say “But I wanna play with Corrin now!” before turning back to the gardens and waiting.

Honestly, she would have preferred the waiting to the news that followed soon after.

It was a chilly afternoon, the red and orange of the trees painting a melancholy picture alongside the somewhat crimson sunset when an uproar began at the gates. Saizo the Fourth stormed through, his body beset with wounds as he held the legendary sword Raijinto close to his chest, his own son, Kaze, strapped on his back, with profuse bleeding.

“Queen Mikoto!” He kneeled on the floor, the last of his strength being used to make him stay conscious. Young Prince Ryoma followed close behind, dirty but seemingly unscathed. “As soon as our party arrived, there was an ambush at Cheve and my Lord--” he hesitated, the words hard to say. How could have he outlived his liege?! “My Lord Sumeragi fell in battle to protect Young Master Corrin.”

Mikoto took both hands to her face in shock. “Oh no! Saizo, please, tell me it isn’t so!” She knelt in front of the ninja and shook his shoulders, the blue lightning characteristic from Raijinto resonating with the Queen’s anguish.

A thud could be heard beside Saizo: Ryoma fell on his knees; exhausted, but mostly blaming himself for what had happened. “It’s true, Mother…” He choked a sob, trying to be strong despite his young 12 years. “K-King Garon himself l-led the attack and… and took Corrin with him…”

“NO!” A yell from behind them, back at the palace, made the young prince lift his head towards the approaching little girl. “It’s not true! It can’t be true!” Hinoka held Ryoma by his shoulders, their heights almost the same despite his kneeling position. Tears clouded her eyes so, she could only see blurs. “W-where’s Corrin? Where’s Dad? Tell the truth!”

Ryoma’s lips trembled and his eyes burned with tears. “I-I’m not lying, Hinoka,” he said, sniffling, acting too grown-up for his age. “I s-saw it myself…”

“Dad, what do you wean that we’ll get a new bwother and a new Mommy?” The little girl asked, tugging on her father’s pants. She never had a little brother before! What was it like?

With new-found strength, Hinoka pushed the oldest prince to the ground. “THEN WHY DIDN’T YOU HELP HIM?!” She yelled atop of her lungs. “Father said to protect our young siblings, always, right?! WHY DIDN’T YOU?!” She cried, tears rolling down her cheeks so fast even her voice was choked from the sobs.

The first time she met the young boy, Hinoka felt a pang of pain in her heart. He was so small; his skin was so pale -- his bright red eyes went super well with her hair, too! She immediately hugged the toddler, not understanding what she was feeling.

“That’s your new little brother, Hinoka.” Sumeragi had said, crouching down to their eye level, patting his oldest daughter on the head. “We will always be together from now on, so as his new big sister, you’ll have to protect him.”

Flabbergasted, it took Ryoma a few seconds to react. “I- I tried, but Naomasa-- he took me out of the way!”

Late King Sumeragi’s retainers, Naomasa and Saizo. Like his master, Naomasa was an esteemed swordmaster with outstanding speed, but not even that skill was enough to take him out of the ambush with life. He protected the young prince with everything he had, but perished from his wounds during the trip back. Saizo himself collected Sumeragi’s helmet and sword before ordering the retreat -- he would outlive one master, but not two. Prince Ryoma’s safety was imperative.

Hinoka tried and failed to dry her tears with her kimono’s sleeve as they kept falling. Medics and healers from all over the palace started surrounding them, worried for the prince and for the young Kaze, the young soul who used his body to protect Corrin from stray arrows.

Mikoto, Saizo and Yukimura talked, their voices dying by the servants’ uproar around them. Voices from every side, heating the moment.

But for Hinoka, her heart was cold. The wind was cold. The stupid weather was growing colder by each day. She clenched her small hands so much her entire body trembled. “Why… why wasn’t it you?” She murmured.

Still on the ground, unable to get up due to his sister’s rage, Ryoma looked up to her. “Wh-?”

“WHY WASN’T IT YOU THE ONE THEY TOOK?!” She yelled over everyone’s voices. “Corrin did nothing wrong! He was- HE IS your little brother! Why did you fail to protect him, WHY!!” She stomped her foot on the floor before jumping towards Ryoma, intent on mauling him for leaving Corrin behind.

Reina, who was monitoring the situation around her Lady, held the eldest princess back. “It’s not his fault, Lady Hinoka,” she said without looking at the little girl, focused on her liege; more worried about Lady Mikoto than anything.

Hinoka struggled, her feet dangling off of the ground. “Let me go! Let me go!! I’ll find Corrin myself!” She pushed the woman’s hand away and jumped on the floor once more, her tears momentarily dried. “While you’re here worrying about what happened I’ll rescue my precious- MY CORRIN!”

After saying that, she ran. She ran without looking back; without knowing where to. Was Nohr far? Which gate should she use? She needed to get out of the castle and do something!

Mikoto’s hand stood helplessly in front of her as she watched the small back getting smaller, her heart wrung with worry and grief. The Queen then clutched it over her chest and glanced at her retainer. “Would you please keep an eye on her? She needs her time now…”

“My Lady, I’m not worried about the Princess… Are you well? The news…” Reina turned to Mikoto, wondering how could she still remain calm after hearing that her husband died and that her child had disappeared.

The Queen’s smile was so filled with sorrow it was a wonder the corners of her lips went up at all. She then gestured to the young boy covering his face with his arm, the small body trembling with grief. “Before being a woman, I am a mother and a Queen. I shall grieve when I have time to do so. Until then…” She looked at where Hinoka had disappeared to before kneeling down to hug her eldest son. “Shh, my boy. It is going to be alright. Mother’s here now.”

In her blind rage, Hinoka’s feet took her to the barracks, and she instantly realized that she would need a weapon to fight the nohrians, damned be them! Her small chest went up and down from the run, her disheveled hair and kimono doing nothing to stop her from going to a weapon rack to take a training naginata.

But it was far too heavy for her and she fell on the floor while holding it, hitting her head. The pain only made her overly aware of the void inside her heart and she felt the tears coming back once again.

“I pwomise! I’ll pwotect--” She turned to her older brother by her side, “WE’LL pwotect him, right, bwother?” She said with the brightest smile Ryoma had ever seen. Having a little brother had awakened Hinoka’s protective side and he understood that. Looking at both of his little siblings only brought warmth to his heart. He would protect them.

She would protect her little brother. She would fight, she would bring him back.

And then… and then she could finally hug him for days and tell him she would be there for him while Dad couldn’t. She would be the spear fighting for him and by him. And then they would all be happy again. Their family would be whole again.

“C-Corrin…” She sniffled, getting up and pulling the naginata with all she had. “D-dad…” She sobbed, barely seeing the way ahead, her body already tired from pulling that stupidly big log or whatever that was. “Corrin… Dad…” She repeated like a mantra, each word a new step she gave towards the exit.

Then towards the garden, then to the forest towards which it connect with.

“CORRIN!! DAAAD!!” She called as she deviated deeper into unknown territory, wondering if she was already in Nohr. “I’M GONNA SAVE YOU!” She cried, her arms numb from mauling the weapon around the uneven territory, her back, bare feet and shoulders burning from the exercise. It was already so cold, she HAD to be in Nohr by now.

The Princess hadn’t realized that she was walking during the first snow of winter -- her red hair was almost entirely covered by snow, her body shivering due to her disheveled kimono and bare feet. “I hate this… where are you, Corrin…? Dad, please, please come back so I can bring Corrin home…” She plopped on the ground, never letting go of the spear. Then, she yelled to the increasingly strong wind: “I’M GONNA BRING YOU BACK, CORRIN!” finally crying her eyes out after, exhaustion reaching its peak on her small body.

She cried for what it seemed to be hours, and finally Reina made her appearance. “Princess Hinoka,” the retainer called, crouching beside the young girl.

Hinoka raised her head, startled. “Reina!! Reina, take me to Nohr! I’m going to bring Corrin back on my own!” Her tiny lips trembled, almost purple with cold, but she didn’t seem to care -- only her brother’s safety was important.

Reina put one finger over her mouth in thought. “As much as I would love to go on a nohrian killing spree right about now, I have my duties as a retainer to follow. If you want to save the Young Master, you’ll have to do it yourself, Princess.”

“T-then!”

“But it’s not going to be now. Look at you.” The woman pointed to the naginata with her chin. “You can barely lift a weapon as you are now.”

The Princess choked a sob, aware of her own helplessness, pressing her lips into a line with such force she pouted, holding back the tears. Reina pointed at the little girl.

“There. That.” She nodded and got up, extending her hand to the princess. “Remember these feelings and focus them on training. You’ll have to train hard. Every single day. You’ll have to train until you can lift that,” she pointed to the naginata, “and all of its sisters you left scattered around the barracks. You’ll have to train until it becomes a second nature to you.”

Hinoka was silent for the first time that day, her mind finally focusing on something other than blindly chasing her brother. On strength.

Seeing how the princess’ eyes lit up, Reina went on. “Only then you’ll be able to fly towards Nohr and rescue your brother. I will proudly fly by your side when the time comes.”

Reina was a strong woman, Hinoka knew that. She had turned down countless offers of higher positions in the army; those with more responsibilities and paperwork -- but she refused them all for the sake of protecting her Lady. Hinoka had seen Reina fight, or at least school the younger recruits on the art of the naginata, both on the ground and in the air.

She would learn. She would fight.

She would fly to Nohr when she had the chance -- the day Reina acknowledged her skill would be the day she would be ready to rescue her brother.

Wait for me, Corrin, she thought as she took Reina’s hand.

I’ll come for you, she thought on the day she cut her hair short so it wouldn’t get in the way of her training. Big Sister’s changing but I’m still the same inside. I’ll always protect and love you. She thought as she fought, as she bled and as she cried during her training.

Reina was made captain of the Kinshi Knights, but still doubled those responsibilities with her duties as retainer, always making sure to train with Hinoka whenever she had the time to. Ever since that day, the princess didn’t break her word (though she did try to run to Nohr one time and fly to it on another after she learned how to ride pegasi) and tirelessly trained her body to fight at the frontlines. Reina would fulfill her promise to Hinoka.

Once she came back from a Faceless raid at the border.

“Ugh, it’s snowing,” Hinoka muttered under her breath, throwing another javelin right into a faceless’ collarbone, killing it instantly. She hated the cold, it reminded her of the day Corrin had been taken.

“D-Did you say something, Big Sister?” Sakura held her sister’s arm, wary of the approaching Faceless. “A-Are we going to be okay? You’re stuck here on the ground to protect me, but the Faceless a-are only increasing…”

“Hah, it’s going to be fine, Sakura. Really. Big Sister is strong, remember?” She flexed with a smile to put the younger princess at ease. The girl smiled and nodded in response.

“R-Right…” Sakura looked to the mountains around them and felt the ground slightly shaking. “Oh! Someone activated a Dragon Vein that way!” She pointed south, towards the holy city.

Hinoka put one hand over her eyes to shadow them from the sunlight and smiled. “Oh! I wonder if Ryoma heard about the attack. That’s great, right, Sakura? We’ll be home earlier than expected.” She nudged her little sister, who giggled, the concern she felt previously melting away like the snow did under the DV’s Ryoma activated one after the other.

Looking at her brother’s direction, Hinoka thought she saw someone familiar with him. There he was, in red. Then Kaze, then Rinkah… but the other person was dressed differently than the other three. They had white hair-

“It can’t be!” Hinoka gasped, immediately gripping at her pegasus’ reins. Sakura’s exclamation of surprise beside her stayed the princess’ hand, however.

“B-big Sister?”

Stay calm. Don’t be brash. Remember your training. “It’s okay, Sakura. Sorry for startling you.”

The gods couldn’t have been so good to her. It was too good to be true. It couldn’t be him.

And yet… after the fight was done and she could see him from up close, she instantly recognized him: Her Corrin. Her beloved, her adored and precious Corrin.

Sakura shyly introduced herself, not realizing Corrin was her long-lost brother. But Hinoka could never forget. Not that pale skin; not the endearing red eyes; not the adorable pointy ears. She would never forget any of it.

Shock held her in place, her eyes trailing to Ryoma’s, who stood behind Corrin. He simply nodded in understanding, which was enough to make Hinoka’s eyes burn with tears.

“His name is Corrin, Sakura.” She said, her voice shaky. “He’s… he’s finally home…” She broke down in tears, throwing herself in that foreign yet so familiar chest, squeezing him with everything she had. “He’s come back to us!”

HI I'M SUPER LATE. I saw your request for Reina fic ideas and I absolutely adore her. Please feel free to disregard this if you've moved on!

Personally I think her dynamic with Orochi could be interesting because they both were close with Mikoto so there's some history there.

Also this has like no basis in canon, but I think she could be super interesting with Charlotte (totally opposite backgrounds, both kind of aggressive though Charlotte masks it when convenient and Reina is mostly only like that in battle, really focused on wealth/stability/comfort vs. could probably have easily had those things if she wanted but followed her desire to be a knight, etc.).

Also Rinkah/Reina and Reina/Scarlet. Just because I think they'd be neat.

I’m currently working on a birthday celebration fic for Cherche (that ended up way too focused on not her so thats fun) so it'll be a little while before I get to Reina but I’ll put her on the list for what I’ll do next.

I never even considered Reina x Scarlet but I’m a huge Scarlet fan and I can already see some really interest dynamics in my head, Charlotte as well has so much potential with the dynamics you mentioned, I never noticed just how similar they were despite having complete opposite upbringings and goals.

I feel like Oboro as well has a lot of potential since I mean, Mikoto’s retainers were basically a lesbian harem, her and Reina probably have history even outside of their shared mourning.

Also I completely agree about Rinkah x Reina being neat, that pairing checks so many of my boxes I’m honestly kinda tempted to have them top an incredibly submissive Corrin at some point. (Though I think I’ll need a break from threesomes after this current fic lol)

F: Well, I just wanted to formally thank you for what you did in the battle today. You really stuck your neck out for me.

R: Think nothing of it. We’re comrades, it’s what we do.

F: Yes but… if I weren’t so clumsy out there you… There must be something I can do to repay you.

R: Trust me it’s fine. I’d do the same for any of you, a million times even. Besides, it gives me that much more pleasure when I return that pain tenfold onto my enemies. I consider that payment enough.

F: Ah yes, that was quite… a thing I saw. Good thing I didn’t plan to sleep tonight. Or eat… How is your wound? It seemed pretty serious.

R: Well, it’ll leave a scar, but at this point, what’s one more, right? I personally consider them a mark of pride.

F: Oh? How so?

R: Well, it seems the most prominent scars I receive are from protecting others. Take one of these scars on my face for example. I received this when protecting Queen Mikoto. Luckily it matched perfectly with the other scar, making something of a cross.

F: I see… that makes sense. I too would be proud of any scars that resulted from me saving Lady Corrin or Felicia’s life. Oh, but if that was your second scar, what of the first?

Reina: Ah Flora, there you are! I have been looking all over for you.

Flora: Hello Miss Reina, are doing okay?

R: Quite. Thank you for saving me out there. I can’t believe how careless I was.

F: Think nothing of it. We are comrades after all.

R: Heh, indeed. But I think I owe you an explanation. You wanted to know how I received my scars, yes?

F: Oh don’t worry about that. It’s clearly a sensitive topic.

R: No, it’s best if I tell you, it’ll clear my mind as well, so I won’t keep getting distracted in battle.

F: Well, if it’ll help you, then by all means.

R: Like I said before, one scar was for Queen Mikoto, but the first scar was received not long after I became a knight. A friend of mine that joined around the same time, Himeko, found herself in a bit of a tough spot. Without thinking, I lept from my pegasus into the fray. I managed to fend them off, but I sustained this scar in the process.

F: So you managed to save her? That’s wonderful!

R: …Is it though? Not long after… she was felled in battle. And now Queen Mikoto is gone as well. I called these scars of pride, but what do I have to be proud of?

F: You can’t seriously think that!?

R: I’m sorry?

F: You saved their lives! They got to live longer because of you. Every day we get to live is a precious gift! Why, if you didn’t save Queen Mikoto then, she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to be reunited with Lady Corrin. And I’m sure Himeko was also happy to be around a selfless friend such as yourself for as long as possible! Reina, what you did was amazing, you’re a hero. It’s this world that is cruel!

R: …

F: Oh, Miss Reina, why are you crying?

R: Hm? So I am… Thank you very much for that Flora. I think that was what I needed to hear all this time. Almost hard to believe that I’m the older one here.

F: You are very welcome.

R: I’m going to go lie down if you don’t mind, you’ve given me quite a bit to think about.

F: Anytime you want to talk, I’ll be glad to listen. Goodnight Miss Reina.

R: You take care Flora.

Flora: Miss Reina? What are you doing?

Reina: No need for the ‘Miss’ at this point right? We’re friends.

F: Yes, that’s right. So, Reina, what are you up to?

R: Oh, I just thought I’d do a little spring cleaning in our down time. Helps me clear my head.

F: I guess that explains the apron. I mean no offence, but you look very… different in it.

R: Trust me, you’re not the first person to say that. Himeko nearly soiled her trousers laughing at me.

F: Oh I’m sure she was just caught off guard.

R: Perhaps. But it could also be because the apron is mostly for show. My actual housekeeping skills leave much to be desired.

F: Why get an apron then?

R: Well, I didn’t buy it. It was something of a parting gift from my parents before I came here.

F: I see… Well, if you wouldn’t mind, I would be honored to help you clean.

R: Oh I couldn’t ask that of you…

F: Nonsense. We are friends after all.

R: Heh, if you insist. You know, you remind me a lot of Himeko… I’m proud to call you my friend, Flora.

F: I’m incredibly honored you feel that way.

R: Now then, pick up a broom! And tell me about your day.

Reina: Thank you so very much for helping me in the mess hall tonight Flora.

Flora: It’s the least I could do after you fought off all those soldiers today. I wasn’t even too scarred to eat this time!

R: Hahah! Glad to hear it. … Listen, Flora.

F: Yes?

R: I have a confession to make. I wasn’t being entirely truthful before.

F: About what?

R: Himeko. She… we weren’t just friends, we were lovers.

F: O-oh?

R: I had actually asked her to marry me, and she had said yes. But in the following battle…

F: I’m so sorry.

R: No, I should be the one apologizing.

F: …It must be hard. Losing someone you love like that. I… can’t imagine you being able to move on from that. But… why tell me now?

R: Actually, it’s because I’m ready to move on that I can tell you this now.

F: What?

R: I was actually hoping that you would marry me Flora. I’ve fallen in love with you.

F: Reina!?

R: I hope you don’t think I’m using you as some kind of replacement. I want you, Flora, the kind, beautiful woman that once called me a hero. The one that made me see the truth that was right in front of me. The one that brought me closure. You are your own woman. And I want you to be my woman.

F: Reina… Yes, of course I’ll marry you. I love you so much. I admit, the way you are on the battlefield scared me a bit at first, but seeing the sacrifices you make, and the way you are when not fighting, I see that it’s just another way you show your love for your country and our comrades. And I love both sides of you.

R: Then it’s settled? Oh gods, thank you Flora! I hope you can put up with someone who’s terrible at housework.

F: Heehee. Well, I think you’ll get along just fine with your new sister.

Entry 13: Corrin’s Boat Dreams

The arena is open now, which means I can force units to fight to feed my gambling addiction. The game choses a random unit and random enemy for you and you get resources if they win. It’s very lacking, especially when compared to arenas in other Fire Emblem games.

At the end of the last entry we got a new unit: Kagero. So, time to do the thing I do in these entries and talk about her.

Kagero

Kagero is Ryoma’s other retainer, also a ninja, who has stats that make her a glass canon. Her personal skill makes her better at fighting other units who wield shurikens. She hasn’t really shown much personality yet, so I can’t talk about that, but I can definitely talk about her design. I love the scarf and the hair that covers her face. On the other hand, tiddies. This royal guard has massive boobs and deep cleavage, because Intelligent Systems knows their audience. To be fair, attractive female characters aren’t necessarily bad, and the game at the very least does have female characters who aren’t super fanservicey. I actually don’t mind Kagero as much as say, Tharja or Camilla, because she seems to have a personality beyond sexy. Probably. Been a while since I played this game.

Support: Corrin/Takumi

C: Corrin tries striking up a chat with Takumi, but he is hostile towards her, because of the whole backstory thing. See entry six for clarification. Anyway, Corrin suggests Takumi teaches her archery as an excuse for the two of them to spend time with one another.

B: Takumi is a stern teacher, but Corrin slowly improves. Corrin accidentally hurts herself and Takumi cancels the training session, quietly admitting to himself that he pushed Corrin too hard.

A: Takumi apologizes to Corrin and admits that she’s talented and fiercely devoted to Hoshido.

S: Corrin improves greatly at archery, thanks to Takumi’s training. Then we get the obligatory not really incest handwave and the two of them get married. Yay. This one actually has Corrin ask who her father is, if it isn’t Garon or Summeragi, and Takumi says that Mikoto didn’t write it down, which feels like a shitty thing for her to do.

Review: This is a weird conversation, considering the fact that Takumi learning to trust Corrin also happens in the main plot. Still, Takumi softening up a bit when Corrin gets hurt is a nice character moment. As for the S-Rank, you all know how I feel about the bullshit deus ex machina to excuse incest this game does.

Support: Oboro/Takumi

C: Oboro and Takumi talk about fashion, which reminds Oboro about her murdered parents. He asks if she wishes to return to fashion and she brushes it off, saying that she is more than happy serving him.

B: Oboro begins making a ceremonial outfit for Takumi and contemplates that her parents would be proud of her for being the seamstress for a prince.

A: Takumi sets Oboro up with a job helping other people with fashion in her spare time. She thanks him for the extra work.

S: Oboro attempts to quit both her fashion job and retainer job, because she is in love with Takumi. He says that he already knows, which makes sense, because that thirst was palpable. Takumi proposes to her and explains that he gave her extra work so she can start her own business after the war, which is nice but is also something he should have probably discussed with her in advance.

Review: This is a very laid back conversation that portrays Oboro much kinder than the game often does. I actually think Takumi comes off as a bit controlling, which is why retainers dating their masters is a bad idea, but overall it isn’t an awful support line.

Support: Corrin/Silas

C: Corrin asks Silas about why she doesn’t remember being friends with him and he brushes it off, because apparently everyone completely forgets about their childhood friend who was so devoted to them he became a knight for the slim chance he might see them again. Silas mentions that he and Corrin made a list of all the places she wanted to travel to and the two of them agree to go on a trip together.

B: Silas recreates the list from their childhood, which is filled with non-specific things like “a festival” and “a street food stall”. It’s actually a little cute. Corrin broods over why she can’t remember Silas and he tells her to ask her retinue, which is a word I had never seen before.

A: Corrin, after asking her retinue, reveals that she cried for days after they took Silas away. The two of them discuss how good friends they are.

S: Silas tells Corrin that she’s hot now and he loves her because she’s hot. He admits that Corrin’s out of his league, but they get married anyway because Corrin will have sex with anything with a pulse.

Review: So Silas is telling the truth? Really? He was so suspicious! This would have been much better if Silas was lying about his past and never knew Corrin. It at least would have had a resolution, as opposed to the half-hearted shrug that is this conversation. It set up a mystery and then just pretended it didn’t exist, which is infuriating.

Support: Hinata/Subaki

C: Hinata finds Subaki staring at his own reflection in love, because Subaki is literally a narcissist. As in, he’s doing the same shit Narcissus did that was so cartoonishly arrogant that the word narcissist is named after him. Also Subaki makes fun of Hinata for being a slob and agrees to teach him how to be more classy.

B: Subaki teaches Hinata basic cleanliness tips, like bathing, and combing your hair, and ironing your clothes. Hinata says that Subaki’s being ridiculous, and it’s framed as him being a slob, but I kinda think he’s right? The two of them are soldiers fighting behind enemy lines, they can afford to have wrinkled clothes.

A: Subaki recommends taking minor steps towards cleanliness.

Review: This is a mediocre, but ultimately harmless, fluff conversation that makes Subaki look like an asshole.

Birthright Chapter 11: To The Sea

The gang sails to Nohr. Takumi brings up the fact that Iago is probably a spy, but Corrin says she trusts him because, and I quote, he stood with us through one battle without stabbing anyone in the back. Such high standards our hero has.

Corrin says that she likes the sea and wants to buy a boat. The game better end with us getting that boat. Suddenly, the weather gets bad and the boat shakes. The ghost dude who killed Mikoto flies out of the water and attacks Azura. A battle begins against the ghost dude and an army of ghost pegasi riders. Weirdly, the ghost swordmaster dude isn’t actually an enemy in this map.

Early on in the battle, a new character named Reina shows up. She flies over to Corrin and explains that she was sent by Yukimura to help.She also brags about killing a shitload of enemies.

Reina

Reina, according to her unit text, is one of Mikoto’s retainers. She’s our first pre-promoted unit, an upgraded Sky Knight called a Kinshi Knight that can wield bows. I love the idea of flying anti-air units, but from what I remember they have bad growths. Design wise, I like that she has scars and looks a bit older than most of the female units. It establishes that she’s an experienced warrior. The halo thing is a bit weird though. Personality wise, she seems insanely violent, to the point of having a mini version of Lifetaker as her personal skill. But like, in a comedic way. Unfortunately, Reina only has supports with Corrin, which means she’s a bit of a throwaway character.

This was our obligatory Fire Emblem boat chapter. Stationed around the boat are Dragon Veins that create wind to keep the fliers at bay, but honestly I didn’t need them. I played this map defensively, bating the fliers with Rinkah or Silas then sniping them with Setsuna, Takumi, and our new flying death machine. Side note, what even is this ship? It’s covered and filled with market stalls, which I’ve never seen before.

After the battle, ghost dude, who we never actually fought and thus is still here, attacks Takumi. Zola sacrifices himself to protect Takumi and the ghost just kinda disappears. Sakura heals Zola’s wounds and Takumi apologizes for doubting him.

First, yes, I severely love the concept of gay Fire Emblem characters. If you’ve ever been to @unassumingvenusaur​‘s page, she even has a blog for gay pairings, and I’ve enjoyed a lot of them. I need to go tell more writers that they do a good job, and it’s really impressive that the mod is even able to keep the blog running while being busy with school and stuff. (I would never have done that when I was in college.)

So, I’ve got a lot of pairs resulting from that page and my own shameless desires, because I’m disgusting great. Obviously, I do like ManRobin with Chrom and FemCorrin with Azura, because story couples are the best. And, of course, I ship both Robins and Corrins with everyone, as they should be able to be paired off with whomever they like. (Though, I like some more than others.)

There’s no way that I can do this simply, so let’s see…I’m only going to stick with Awakening and Fates, because Heroes allows me too much freedom with crossover ships that don’t make sense.
