These were some of the thoughts Thomas had sometimes felt in his very worst and blackest moods. He’d always shoved them aside. And tonight of all nights, he didn’t want them spoken into being.
Nor had he ever expected they would be spoken into being by Edward.
everyone go read @mean-scarlet-deceiver's Small World if you like Timelines That Went Wrong

see the interesting thing is that while 'Al art' continues to improve aesthetically it also continues to be made by and for people who don't actually *create* art, just *look* at it. and it's been so interesting to watch, because it's such a wild insight into what people who don't draw are seeing when they look at pictures, what they care about, what they don't notice.
some things (faces, eyes, lighting, hands) have been pretty much perfected, or at least reached a point where they don't 'look wrong' upon first glance, but i still have yet to be surprised to find out an image was Al-generated because there's such a clear lack of artistic process behind any of it. if you look at any part of the 'art' and ask yourself 'why and how would someone draw this like that' there's never an answer. there's nothing there.

I'm really sorry you and your sister are dealing with that
(no pressure to publish this, not that there should ever be pressure to publish an ask if you don't want to, of course, but just wanted to say I hope you're doing okay)
Ah, thank you, anon, it's okay. It's been a while now (court moves slooow), but we're getting hopefully close to the end. She filed in Family Court December 2022, and we've had about five interim hearings with final trial (finally) scheduled over four days next month, so fingers crossed! But yeah, it's been A Time. He's financially and emotionally abusive against my sister, and both those things as well as medically negligent against their children (who are only six and eight and both have special needs), so it's been....rough. To say the least.
But on a lighter note, have one of my new favourite photos I took of my nephews at the jellyfish enclosure at the aquarium last month!

I GENUINELY wish I understood the appeal of Taylor Swift I really really do. many of my friends do. but it's just. I don't think a single one of her songs has ever landed above 'ok' or 'nostalgically cheesy' for me and every time I think that I feel so incredibly like I'm trying to be snobby but I'm not? it's not about not liking pop or not liking the cool thing I love pop I love cheese I just also like music that has some...I guess energy and danceability or specific and meaningful rage and I have found nothing to hook into in anything she's made. Antihero nearly works for me. Blank Space works conceptually but not in practise. but other than that the last thing she made that did anything for me even as a throwaway pop song was. god it actually might be We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together or 22 which at least are catchy but I can't say ever made it to my playlists.
I want to get it, I genuinely do. I have listened to most of her releases at least once because I keep thinking if I try hard enough something will open up for me but nah however hard I try it's just extremely mid. like yes that certainly is music. I can immediately recognise it as Taylor Swift, it's not like it's utterly generic, but it absolutely just registers to me as background music. I want so much to understand what it is about her that makes her the biggest person in music for like 15 years now.
(I could say the same about Beyoncé who if anything lands worse for me. Break My Soul owns, but other than that I have landed everything I've heard of hers since like 2008 firmly in the Do Not Relisten pile it just lands like a ton of loose sand for me. and this is not mentioning the actual crime against music that was Jolene bc I don't think that worked for most people tbf. and again it's not that I don't like pop or r&b or rap cause that's like. between those genres about a third of the music I listen to. but her work is just so unengaging to me personally and I don't know why and I wish I got it)

What are your personal/not-so-known/most random headcanons about the Rise Turtles?
i'm thinking random stuff like "that one's lactose intolerant", "this one has eczema", "that other one likes to write fanfiction", etc. They fully can be self-projection, i'm fully down to read about that!!
Share in tags, comments or reblog! I will read everything! I love people's ideas or projections.
(you can also share more popular headcanons with me, i might not know them or you might have a specific idea or opinions about it)
picture for attention :3

Since colors are pretty big in their culture do certain pelt colors have a lot of influence on how a cat is thought of? Or if a cat has “conflicting” colors does it give off a certain vibe?
Just thinking with Rainpelt’s very interesting mix of colors :D
Fun fact: A lot of folk don’t even realize that Rainpelt is a tortoiseshell unless they get really close to her, because she wears “guards” on her forelegs and dons her fairlead regalia more often than not.
Colors don’t actually influence the Fealty’s way of thinking when it comes to pelts or eyes or anything. The words of colors are sacred, and the colors themselves aren’t really thought to mean much on their own - they’re just connected to their deities, and connected to flowers.
Colors, alone, don’t mean anything unless they’re specifically connected to or involving one of the Lights. It’s also why being named after a color causes many Fealtyfolk to wrinkle their noses; it’s just in poor taste, in their eyes.
It’s a poor example, but imagine if like a Catholic Christian named their kid “Crucifix” or something along those lines. It’s a holy symbol for their faith, and probably wouldn’t be well-received by the community.

Hey hey, how about 27, 31 & 39 for weird questions for writers 😊
Hello! Sorry for taking some time to answer -- I was really tired and needed to get some rest :) oh, and thanks for the questions, of course!
27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?
Oh, so far it's got to be Rose from Golden Girls. I feel like there's a very delicate balance to writing her POV, and it's easy to get it wrong. Like, I don't know -- take St Olaf stories. They're a part of Rose, so you really can't avoid them when writing her POV for long enough, and they've got to be ridiculous, but not mind-numbingly stupid, because at some point they stop being funny and become frustrating. You know?
I will say it's worth it, though. I love Rose to bits, and as stressful as it can be to get her thought process just right, it's also a lot of fun!
31. Write a short love letter to your readers.
A love letter? What could I write in a love letter that I haven't written in my works? :)
You know I write for myself, but I'd be lying if I said I don't think of you all when I'm writing something. I anticipate your reactions to certain scenes, I get curious about your general thoughts, I wonder if someone will notice something that flew under my radar and surprise me with it... it's lovely! I had no idea that writing could be such a cooperative effort before, and it warms my heart.
I don't know much about love. I'm on the aromantic spectrum, and I've only ever fallen in love once -- but, in my very humble opinion, a big part of love is consideration, it's paying attention, it's building up a conversation. If that's true, then any of my works is a love letter to anyone that reads it. <3
Oh, and of course: thank you, so much, if you've read any of my works. I'm still shocked at the idea that there are people out there who are actually interested in what I write. It's an incredible feeling.
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
Mostly, I try not to get to the point where I feel like giving up! If I notice I'm getting frustrated with a work, I put it down and go do something else, maybe leave it be for a while. Sometimes you just need to give your brain a break! I just try not to be too hard on myself about writing in general -- this is a hobby for me, it's supposed to be fun. If it's not, that means I probably need to focus on some other hobby for some time, and I'll come back to it when I'm ready.

Ok my fellow writers, who's also an analytics nerd?
One of the things that kept me motivated while writing my book was seeing all the little numbers continually going up. It also helps me to see where I was mentally during the time I was writing each chapter (not shown are the little explanations for the larger gaps in time off to the right of this screen).
I also have 5 different spreadsheets with a billion tabs each tracking all the different worldbuilding aspects of the story.
Does anyone else do this? If so, what kind of tools do you use? If you just rawdog the story without notes, you are an absolute superhuman in my eyes!
