And who better to upstage the cheating bastard than the Saviour of the World, Harry Potter himself? Sure, Potter is a little rough around the edges in ripped jeans, a rumpled tartan shirt, and a permanent scowl. Draco reckons a haircut and a shave wouldn’t hurt, either. But Potter is also in need of a Healer willing to keep his secrets, and Draco is just the man for the job. It’s a perfectly reasonable exchange. They need only attend a couple parties arm-in-arm, smile nicely for the paparazzi, and tolerate each other long enough to convince everyone they’re smitten. In return, Draco will keep Potter alive and in one piece. But it isn’t long before Draco realises he might be in over his head, because Potter is ten tonnes of trouble packed into a leather jacket, and seems keen on hurtling himself towards death on the back of a flying motorbike. And that says nothing of Potter’s penchant for fire-breathing beasts and things that bite. Ah well, at least they’ll have some fun while it lasts. After all, Draco always did like a bit of danger.

When you asked me the other day what project I was working on, I was so glad we weren’t face-to-face because I have a terrible poker face and the truth was I was working on this surprise birthday gift for you. Your writing is brilliant--sharp and witty, imaginative, vivid, full of tension, angsty, hot, tender, and everything else you could wish for--and it’s so amazing to have it all collected in these two volumes for you (minus the two other stories you’ve already got on your shelves). I hope you have a day that’s as lovely as you are!

I got to have more fun with edge speckling, bookmark charms, and multi-volume spine painting for these books which are three of my favorite things to do with books right now! I also went a little wild with water and ship imagery inspired by Sly’s username, The_Sinking_Ship. Like with Tit for Tat, I had the amazing opportunity to work with the incredibly talented @babooshkart on these books--they did the gorgeous wave art that’s found on the spines and on each title page and a whole new piece of art for Intention (more on that in the art post for this book because wow was there a lot of stunning art to include in these volumes)! These two books were made in a whirlwind in the last 2ish weeks, and I’m really happy with how they turned out! Fun fact: the first volume is officially the longest book I’ve bound so far at over 600 pages.

K - What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

The thing is, I envision all of my bigger fics to be angsty, and then they turn into what is essentially 50k of fluff and intense mutual pining 😂 I've got two wips that are pretty angsty at certain points, though -- definitely more than I've incorporated into other works! One takes place in Plockton, Scotland. Draco is living a very calm, reclusive life there, and Harry has the bright idea to move into the cottage next door. I won't spoil anything (because I'm hoping to finish it sometime this summer 😅), but it does get a little angsty! The second one involves mistaken identity -- Draco is living as a Muggle, has blue hair, and is covered in tattoos and piercings. Harry doesn't recognize him, thinks he's a Muggle, and things get complicated. They're not necessarily grade-A angst, but they're also not complete fluff!

R - Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

Oh, so many. I've done lots of appreciation tagging over the holidays, so I'll link ao3s instead so as to not annoy anyone!

Sly (The_Sinking_Ship) - oh, to write like Sly 🥺 Sly has such a capturing writing style (I couldn't put Criminal down when I read it last year), and she's also given me so much amazing writing advice over the year or so that I've known her. I think of her every time I work on my sticky sentences!

Starry (thestarryknight) - Starry's writing is something I constantly think of when writing my own pieces. Her prose is the kind of beautiful where you want to sob into a corner because someone actually wrote that??? Of Mirrors, Myths, and Men is one of my new favorites (although I was rather late to reading it), and it perfectly captures the beauty of Starry's writing

Mari (onbeinganangel) - Mari's stories and characters are just so loveable, and the life that she's able to breathe into plots and relationships is something I frequently remind myself of when writing. Salt and Sauce is a perfect example of how incredibly intimate and soft Mari's works can be
