Leute, ich glaube ich bin verflucht und irgendetwas will nicht, dass ich zum CSD gehe.

Seit 2015 will ich jedes Jahr dorthin. Ich hab's ein Mal geschafft, weil mir jedes Jahr irgendwas dazwischenkommt.

Und selbst das eine Mal als ich es geschafft habe, ist mir zwei Monate davor mein Handy auf meinen Fuß gefallen und es hat ewig gedauert, bis es nicht mehr weh getan hat.

This September, world leaders will gather at the United Nations to mark the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) midpoint, between their 2015 launch and 2030 deadline.

Despite an array of success stories and growing range of constituencies engaging on the SDGs, empirical assessments draw attention to widespread shortfalls. The bottom line is that the world has not been doing enough things differently enough to be on course for SDG success.

Hello! Happy June! It's Pride and I have another question (2/30)

It is well known that the first Pride in June 1970 took place one year after the Stonewall Riots in 1969, but do you know who organised it originally? Her name was Brenda Howard, and I think she is best described by the bright pink pin she always wore, which said "Bi, Poly, Switch - I know what I want." She was friends with many of the people involved in the original riot and first organised a one-month anniversary riot in July of 1969. Then, one year after Stonewall, she and a committee planned Gay Pride Week and the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade. Because of this, she is often referred to as "The Mother of Pride" and her original idea eventually transformed into the New York Pride celebration we see today.

One of the committee members L. Craig Schoonmaker is responsible for coining the word "Pride" in this context, and said in 2015 “A lot of people were very repressed, they were conflicted internally, and didn’t know how to come out and be proud. That’s how the movement was most useful, because they thought, ‘Maybe I should be proud.’”

Though the parade started off with only a few people showing up at the set time of 2pm, by the end of the event they had thousands of people filling 20 blocks of the city. Today, New York Pride regularly exceeds 2 million people!

So my question today is: have you ever attended a Pride parade? And if so, was it like you expected?

Influence of the environment: The Marine, Freshwater and Terrestrial Environments.

The physical properties of salt water, freshwater and air have important implications for anatomy, physiology and behaviour of the animals inhabiting them. Let us take a look at the main features of marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments and their effects on animal life.

Post Three: The terrestrial environment

The terrestrial environment is our home, home to humans, so it can be hard to accept that it is the harshest of the three main environments. To begin with, compared to water there is little buoyancy, so all terrestrial animals require some form of skeleton strong enough to enable support and movement on land. Extremes in temperature are much more common, requiring biochemical, physiological or behavioural adaptations to cope with them.

All land animals also face the problem of significant water loss by evaporation. To control this, their body coverings must offer a more permeable barrier between internal and external environments than is common in marine and freshwater animals. It is also critical for terrestrial animals to locate their respiratory surfaces inside the body, or to protect them from desiccation if they remain external. Surfaces permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide are also permeable to water, so evaporative water loss would be great if respiration occurred on the outside of the body. If respiratory surfaces are internal, with only a small external opening, evaporative water loss can be reduced. The few terrestrial animals such as snails and earthworms that use the body surface for respiration protect it with mucous secretions to reduce water loss. Behavioural adaptations such as burrowing may also be important in reducing evaporation across the external body surface.

Land animals can also conserve water when excreting nitrogenous wastes. It would be extremely wasteful to excrete ammonia because of the large volume of water required to keep it dilute and non-toxic, so energy is expended to convert ammonia to urea (in mammals) or uric acid (reptiles and birds; birds excrete their faeces and ‘urea’ at the same time to conserve energy, in the form of uric acid). Despite the energy cost, these compounds are less toxic so less water is needed to remove them.

Lastly, fertilisation must be internal in terrestrial animals, because the gametes could not survive and fuse without water. This in turn may require elaborate courtship behaviour as I am sure many of you who have watched Nat Geo Animal Planet or Sir David Attenborough would have certainly seen some of this behaviour! Young may be born alive, or eggs laid in an enclosed protective coat or located in a moist spot. The eggs cannot obtain water-soluble nutrients from their surrounding environment, so all nutrients necessary for development must be available within the egg. Larvae are rare in terrestrial animals, but insects are a significant exception.

So, we can see that terrestrial animals must support their bodies in the absence of significant buoyancy and that water loss is also a significant problem that has to be overcome. There is no disputing the fact that the marine environment is indeed the easiest environment to live in, but that there is no escaping the fact that life, no matter where it lives, needs water in one way or another.

It makes you think hard about the possibility of life elsewhere in the Universe, and the fact that many animals tend to survive if not thrive in environments where there is ample water available. Food for thought indeed.

April 30, 2020: Queen Letizia held a videoconference with those responsible for the Olympia de Las Rozas Women's Soccer Club, to find out how basic women's sport is facing the situation caused by COVID-19, and the solidarity actions they have put underway to help groups that are in worse condition.

Olympia Las Rozas was born in 2015 as a result of the illusion of a group of mothers and fathers of young players and professional coaches, who sought to offer a different option to the players. It is a small club in the growth phase that started with 15 players and today has more than 160 in all categories, from 6 years old and with no age limit.

The president, founder of the club and player, Sonia Soria, and Ana de la Chica, also vice president and player and, in addition, sports director and coach, participated in the videoconference. Both have explained to Doña Letizia that, unlike other clubs, any girl who wants to play soccer has a place at Olympia regardless of how competitive she is.

For them, the important thing is that the girls do sports in a healthy environment where camaraderie and fun prevail, underlining the values ​​of team sport and always playing soccer with sportsmanship, with the utmost respect for the rival, the referees and the hobbies and without individuals.

In addition, they accompany the practice of soccer with an educational development based on non-sports activities that contribute to the personal development of the players: educational talks, courses, conferences, screenings and debate, meetings with international teams (cultural exchange), in short, vital experiences so that girls are stronger in the future.

Now, after the suspension of all training and competitions due to the pandemic, the club has accepted an ERTE for the only personnel that depends on it: the coaches, since the directives are altruistic.

They have explained to the Queen that from the first days of confinement the coaches sent their players exercise tables and joint challenges to maintain physical effort as much as possible and team spirit.

And among the solidarity actions, the one to ask the players to write a letter to the elders of the residences of Las Rozas stands out. All the members of the Olympia participated and managed to send 1,700 letters delivered by the Local Police in the residences of the city. They carried a message of hope and love, according to Sonia Soria, so that the grandparents knew that they are not alone and that everyone in the club thinks of them. In his opinion, it has been a very enriching initiative recognized even by FIFA.

This initiative joins others already carried out by the club, such as sending sports equipment to a school in Uganda, helping pregnant mothers in social exclusion and a forthcoming one: a donation of old equipment from the teams to a NGO Africa.

In addition, they will continue with the program "Achievers of Dreams", started two years ago for girls who could not play due to lack of resources, helping them with scholarships that would allow them to play, considering that, on many occasions, soccer is a good form of integration . Now, they will help by collaborating in the social dining rooms that are most needed in the Community of Madrid.

Regarding the future, they have explained that they trust that health regulations will allow them to resume training and especially activities that seek to make girls feel safe and have references. They usually bring the different teams together to play friendly matches so that the little ones can see how the older ones play and the older ones are close to the younger ones of the club. They boast of having no age limit to practice sports, so they have a team of Veterans where the older women train, almost all mothers. In fact, there is a special day for the mothers of our players so that moms can enjoy soccer together with their daughters.

Despite the current difficult situation, they see a positive future because more and more girls want to practice their favorite sport without complexes or prejudices, and because they consider that society is gradually accepting women's football.

Although they regret that, in the economic aspect, being a feminine and grassroots club, they hardly receive aid from public entities. The large amounts that they handle in the CSD, LaLiga and the RFEF do not reach them.

It was a long, personal struggle to come out for so many reasons. But I finally feel ready to tell an abbreviated version of the story to give some credit. I was struggling through most of college, and being abroad felt like a chance to actually *be* myself. Something kept stopping me. I ended up in Leipzig during the 2015 CSD parade. I had no idea what was happening, I just turned a corner and saw this. Some of the fans I was going to be with in the stands that night were there, kit and all, chanting against homophobia. I cried, ugly sobs and all, but out of happiness. The "Leipzig ist bunt" and other things painted on the street helped, but seeing a fan group, the place I wanted to feel included and safe, was showing that was possible for the authentic me. I am proud to be queer, and I am proud to be an @dierotenbullen fan. I can be me now, and my football fandom is inextricably linked to my identity. Die Beratung der Anträge zu LGBT*-Rechten

Heute wurden die beiden Anträge der Grünen und der FDP zu LGBT*-Rechten beraten (Die Grünen haben einen nationalen Aktionsplan vorgelegt, die FDP will LGBT*-Rechte in der EU ausbauen). Außerdem hat die AfD einen homophoben Antrag für die “traditionelle Familie” vorgelegt. Alle drei Anträge wurden an die Ausschüsse überwiesen, wo sie nun ausgiebig beraten werden. Das kann einige Zeit dauern. Der Auschuss empfiehlt dann, ob ein Antrag angenommen oder abgeleht werden soll und meistens folgt der Bundestag diesen Empfehlungen.

Der erste Redner ist Sven Lehmann von Den Grünen. Er ist selbst schwul und trägt in seinem offiziellen Portrait einen Anstecker mit der Regenbogenflagge. Den Anstecker hat er auch heute an. Er spricht an, das Deutschland im Ranking der LGBT*-freundlichsten europäischen Länder auf Rang 15 zurückgefallen ist. Zitat: “Eine offene und demokratische Gesellschaft erkennt man daran, wie sie mit ihren Minderheiten umgeht.” Er will auch, dass sich mehr um ältere LGBT*-Menschen gekümmert wird. In den Umfragen liegen Die Grünen gerade vor der CDU. Hoffentlich bleibt das so, ich hätte wirklich gern nen grünen Kanzler oderr ne grüne Kanzlerin.

Als nächstes ist Bettina Wiesmann von der CDU dran. Sie sprich an, dass es in 13 von 16 Bundesländern bereits einen solchen Aktionsplan gibt und die Länder diese Probleme besser angehen können, weil sie näher an den Menschen dran sind. Wir in Baden-Württemberg haben einen solchen Aktionsplan seit 2015 und das liegt größtenteils daran, dass wir schon 2011 keinen Bock mehr auf die CDU hatten und stattdessen Die Grünen gewählt haben. Zurück zur Rede. Sie meint, man bräuchte keinen nationalen Aktionsplan und deswegen wird die CDU den Antrag ablehnen. Cool, noch mehr Gründe, diese Partei nicht zu wählen! Ihr gefällt aber, dass der Antrag zeigt, was auf Bundesebene noch getan werden muss. Die CDU möchte außerdem, dass intersexuelle Menschen nicht mehr ohne ihre Zustimmung operiert werden, worüber bereits in den Ausschüssen gesprochen wurde.  Außerdem sollen Konversionstherapien verboten werden. Ich finds gut, dass die CDU da endlich mal was macht, aber das sind Dinge, die Die Grünen schon seit Jahren fordern.

Sie ist auch dagegen, dass auf internationaler Ebene mehr getan werden sollte. Zitat: “Das findet doch schon statt.” Deswegen wird die CDU auch dem FDP-Antrag nicht zustimmen. Sie spricht auch kurz den Antrag der AfD an und vergleicht es mit der Situation in Rumänien vor 1989 und den 1930er Jahren in Deutschland. Daran hat mich der Antrag auch erinnert.

Martin Reichardt von der AfD. Er ist ein Kumpel von André Poggenburg. Wo ist meine Kotztüte? Er meint, die Ideologie der Grünen sei “familienfeindlich” und tut so, als würde sie die Begriffe “Vater” und “Mutter” abschaffen wollen. Und natürlich nutzt er wieder das alte Argument, dass es auch auch homosexuelle AfD-Mitglieder geben würde. Und was wäre eine AfD-Rede ohne Islamophobie? Scheißverein! Zum Glück ist das jetzt vorbei.

Karl-Heinz Brunner von der SPD. Er ist seit dem 1. April queerpolitischer Sprecher der SPD-Fraktion und war davor Beauftragter für die Belange von Lesben und Schwulen. 2014 hat er sich mit LGBT*-Vereinen in der Ukraine getroffen. Er spricht das 50-jährige Jubiläum von Stonewall an und, dass der Monat Juni als “Pride Month” bezeichnet wird. Er findet es auch bedauerlich, dass man 50 Jahre nach Stonewall immer noch über Gleichbehandlung und Akzeptanz diskuttieren muss, weil es igentlich überall Normalität sein sollte. Außerdem findet er es beschäment, dass LGBT*-Menschen immer noch belästigt werden. Er will deswegen, dass zusammen mit der CDU und eventuell Den Grünen etwas vernünftiges auf den Weg gebracht wird, damit LGBT*-Menschen endlich so leben können, wie sie wollen. Ich find es schade, dass die GroKo die SPD so zerstört hat, weil sie teilweise echt gute Ansätze hat. Wenn sie sich reformiert und dann entweder in die Opposition geht oder mit den Grünen koaliert könnte da vielleicht was draus werden.

Jens Brandenburg von der FDP. Er ist selbst schwul, Sprecher für LGBT*-Rechte und Mitglied im Kuratorium der Bundesstiftung Magnus Hirschfeld. Er möchte in einer Welt leben, in der man über die Akzeptanz von sexueller und geschlechtlicher Vielfalt gar nicht mehr diskutieren muss. Er zitiert außerdem einige Ausschnitte aus “Fanpost”, die er bekommen hat: “Geh doch zum Psychiater”, “Das ist ekelhaft”, “Irgendwann darf man wohl auch Tiere heiraten”, “Zuerst Sie und dann der Kahrs. Was ist das? Ernie und Bert Popoclub?”, “Homosexualität macht krank. Warum ist das nicht verboten?”, “Schwule, Lesben und Transen sind bemitleidenswerte Launen der Natur und der Witz schlechthin” Er hält sowas aus, weil er gelernt hat, so einen Schwachsinn nicht an sich herankommen zu lassen. Allerdings gibt es auch hunderttausende Menschen in diesem Land, bei denen das nicht so ist. Er spricht auch an, dass es in vielen europäischen Ländern Homo- und Transfeindlichkeit gibt. In Bulgarien hat er beispielsweise einen CSD erlebt, wo die Demonstranten von der Polizei und eigenen Sicherheitskräften vor rechtsextremen Skinheads beschützt werden mussten.

Deutschland soll sich deswegen im EU-Ministerrat dafür einsetzen, dass LGBT*-Menschen geschützt werden, die Menschenrechte von LGBT-*Menschen sollen eine stärkere Rolle in der EU-Entwicklungspolitik spielen und gleichgeschlechtliche Ehen sollen EU-weit anerkannt werden.

Doris Achelwilm von den Linken. Sie ist Sprecherin für Gleichstellung, Medienpolitik und Queerpolitik. Sie lobt Jens Brandenburg für seinen Mut, von seinen Erfahrungen zu berichten und betont, dass Queerpolitik keine Nische sondern eine Querschnittsaufgabe ist. Den Bundesländern fehlt zur Umsetzung aber leider oft das Personal und die finanziellen Mittel. Ein nationaler Aktionsplan könnte Lücken und Schwankungen ausgleichen, weswegen die Linke auch gar nicht dagegen sein kann. Sie spricht außerdem kurz eine kleine Anfrage der AfD zum Thema “Genderpolitik” und die Karnevalswitze von AKK an. Außerdem hat die Linke noch einen kleinen Verbesserungsvorschlag, was den Aktionsplan angeht: Initiativen von queeren Frauen und Trans*-Menschen sollen stärker gefördert werden, weil diese Initiativen finanziell meist schlechter gestellt sind.

Stephan Pilsinger von der CSU. Er fragt sich, ob man wirklich immer einen Aktionsplan braucht, um bessere Politik zu machen. Er stellt auch einige Beispiele vor, was bei dem Thema bereits geschehen ist: Es gibt das Allgemeine Gleichbehandlungsgesetz, es gibt eine dritte Geschlechtsoption für intersexuelle Menschen, die Ehe für Alle, Homosexualität ist nicht mehr strafbar und das Transsexuellengesetz soll reformiert werden. Er meint, dass man “Regeln, die längt codifziert sind” nicht ins Grundgesetz aufnehmen sollte und es eh nicht helfen würde, sexuelle Identität ins Grundgesetz zu schreiben, weil man Toleranz nicht verordnen kann. Dann gibt es noch damit an, was die Union alles für Familien getan hat.

تأثير COVID 19 على المبيعات المستقبلية: ستتبع أعمال البيع بالتجزئة التقليدية من الطوب والملاط اتجاها هبوطيا على مر السنين مع نمو تجارة التجزئة الإلكترونية بشكل كبير بعد جائحة كورونا. نظرا لأنه من المرجح أن يختار المستهلكون الوجهات المحلية في الأشهر القليلة المقبلة إلى جانب التركيز على الحفاظ على نمط حياة صحي ، فإن التحول في التفضيل نحو الحقائب الأصغر والمريحة مثل Duffles و Backpacks و Weekenders سيكون مطلوبا.

وأشار التقرير الذي يحمل عنوان  "التقييم المحتمل في سوق الحقائب والأمتعة في المملكة العربية السعودية - مدفوعا بالتغيير في نمط الحياة وزيادة السفر والسياحة وميل العملاء نحو العلامات التجارية الراقية"  من قبل كين للأبحاث إلى أنه من المتوقع أن ينمو سوق الحقائب والأمتعة في المستقبل القريب بسبب التغيير في التركيبة السكانية وزيادة الإنفاق الاستهلاكي وارتفاع صناعة التجارة الإلكترونية.  إن النمو في السياحة الداخلية إلى جانب ارتفاع عدد الشباب والنساء الذين يتوقعون حقائب اليد كبيان للأسلوب بدلا من جانبها الوظيفي قد استكمل نمو السوق. من المتوقع أن يسجل السوق معدل نمو سنوي مركب إيجابي لمدة ست سنوات بنسبة 10.1٪ من حيث الإيرادات خلال الفترة المتوقعة 2020-2025F.

In the Daily: Monero Upgrade, Revolut Auto Exchange, SETL Administration

In this edition of The Daily we cover the latest protocol upgrade to privacy coin monero (XMR), a new feature for traders using Revolut, and the blockchain-based corporate settlements platform SETL appointing administrators for the business.

Monero Undergoes Protocol Upgrade

The Monero development team has confirmed that its scheduled protocol upgrade was completed successfully. The hard fork introduced four main changes to the privacy-focused altcoin including an improvement to the dynamic block size algorithm, an introduction of dummy encrypted payment IDs as well as shrinking of the size of amount encodings and using deterministic masks.

The most important update involved making the cryptocurrency more resistant to ASIC (application-specific integrated circuits) miners. A recent report showed that more than 85 percent of the Monero network was dominated by ASIC miners. The newly implemented Cryptonight-R algorithm is meant to tweak the proof-of-work mechanism used by XMR miners to deter using ASIC rigs, at least for a while.

Revolut Launches Auto Exchange

London-based alternative digital banking startup Revolut has added a new feature to the service it calls Auto Exchange, supporting both fiat and cryptocurrencies. Similar to market orders common on forex trading platforms, such as Entry and Stop-Loss, the new feature allows Revolut users to automatically exchange one asset into another when a target rate they set is reached.

Revolut was launched in July 2015, and its services include pre-paid debit cards (Mastercard or Visa), fiat currency exchange, cryptocurrency buying and exchange, peer-to-peer payments, remittances, personal loans, travel insurance and international money transfers. In April 2018 the company raised a Series C investment round of $250 million and added support for bitcoin cash (BCH).

SETL Goes Into Administration

Permissioned blockchain-based platform SETL has recently announced the appointment of administrators for the company in a notice of corporate insolvency. This is the latest example of corporate blockchain technology projects struggling to deliver on the hype they generated. The newly appointed administrators, Quantuma LLP, are tasked with enabling the company to balance its holdings and continue its activities on a business as usual basis.

Trying to put a positive spin on the matter, SETL refers to the move as a corporate reorganization following the completion of its Central Securities Depository (CSD). The company explained in a blog post that it recognizes that as an early stage firm it is not sufficiently able to contribute the capital needed for the CSD and is now seeking to sell its holding to a larger financial services firm, “one better placed to provide the capital required to support the growth trajectory.”

SAFETY AND STANDARDS TASKFORCE | IESA

Standardization is a critical topic with a direct impact on new product development and existing product propagation. IESA’s Safety and Standards Task Force works on developing performance & safety aspects of energy storage. IESA is a part of the BIS standards committee (ETD-52) and provides inputs on new standards for Li-ion cell, BMS, ESS systems, and charging infrastructure.

With the same thought process IESA and UL signed a MoU to create an Energy Storage Standards TaskForce in 2015.

The key areas of mutual working are:

Educating IESA members on standards development process

Standards gap analysis in the identified areas of interest

Standards training

Formation of standards cell and UL to act as a secretariat for standards development

UL standards development tool–CSDS deployment for standard development

Access to relevant UL Standards

IESA also joined the EES Sectional Committee by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) in 2016.

The scope of the committee includes standardization in the field of grid integrated Electrical Energy Storage Systems in India. The Sectional Committee focused on the following:

EES to include any type of grid-connected energy storages, which can both store electrical energy from a grid or any other source and provide electrical energy to a grid.

Activities:

Organized a training on safety and standards with ARAI.

Conducted India’s first two days training workshop for li-ion cell fabrication and battery testing in Pune with Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) on 11th and 12th March 2020.

Helped Indian companies and startups for the technology due diligence with the help with IESA's lead acid and Li-ion lab.
