Obi-Wan and Yoda have no obligations to the Rebellion. There isn't even a Rebellion to be obligated TO when they go into hiding initially. And Obi-Wan IS doing his duty to the Rebellion by protecting one of Anakin's children (they believe Anakin's children might be the only people ultimately capable of taking down the Sith, but they also know that if Anakin and Palpatine get ahold of Luke and Leia and turn them into Sith, all hope is lost). Obi-Wan also clearly has a direct communication to Bail and Breha that they can utilize in dire need, so he's not completely removed from the Rebellion.
Obi-Wan and Yoda are intended to be last resorts. They're considered public enemy #1 to the Empire and if they were out there more obviously fighting in the Rebellion, they'd be getting constantly hunted down by the Empire's full might and probably wouldn't last very long. They might even, at least in the beginning, be more of a hindrance than a help because they could draw attention to a fledgling Rebellion and end up killing it before it has a chance to grow at all. Obi-Wan and Yoda are people the Rebellion has in their back pocket for if all hope is about to be lost and they need to pull out a miracle.
There aren't enough Jedi left to force the few survivors to keep fighting on the front lines, especially when there's next to zero support to keep them from being immediately hunted down and murdered by the Empire. It helps nobody to do that. Ahsoka fights from the shadows for most of her tenure in the Rebellion, but we see in the Kenobi show how quickly Obi-Wan is discovered when he does leave Tatooine. It's a matter of a few DAYS before the Empire is on his tail and he barely manages to escape with the help of other people.
I do think that the whole purpose of Obi-Wan and Yoda being in hiding has been made a little muddied by all of the Jedi characters who have been shown to be fighting in the Rebellion (Ahsoka, Cal, Kanan and Ezra) and so now people go "well if they could do it, why couldn't Obi-Wan and Yoda?" And I get that, but I feel like it misses the point of why Obi-Wan and Yoda chose to go into hiding in the first place. They're protecting the potential future of the Jedi and the last Force sensitive children they even know are left to protect, as well as protecting themselves as potential future assets to the Rebellion and the fight against the Sith and the Empire.

i think that it's perfectly fine to celebrate a religious holiday while not following a specific religion yourself, but it becomes a problem when you start claiming that the holiday isn't religious anymore to force other people who dislike or don't celebrate said holiday to like or celebrate it because of YOUR personal opinion

Can you imagine what must have been like to be part of Krell's clone battalion, what it was like to have him as your general? We know how he's like. Krell doesn't care about the clones' lives. He wins. He's celebrated as a general. The senators and Jedi don't care about the casualties except the money that's going to waste. Krell brings results. They don't see what's behind those numbers.
Imagine a clone battalion that's stripped of all colors except the ones to indicate rank, blank white armor that's too battered to be a shiny's. A clone battalion where names start with CC and CT, where the men all have the same face, same hair. The only thing that differents them from each other are their scars. It's worse than Kamino. The men have learned to keep silent. They know the consequences of speaking up, have executed the ones who do with their own blasters. Who doesn't get court martialled gets reconditioned or decommissioned. Their lives are hard and miserable.
Krell doesn't care about his men except when he can make their lives worse. They don't only have the highest causality count, Krell's battalion is also the one with the most injuries, with the most troopers considered defect (because surely men like Rex or Fives would be declared defect by Krell) and most clones going AWOL. Imagine their pain. They are alone, they are mistreated. Nobody cares about them, they only care about the battles they win, about the cost of the constant replacement of troopers, but nobody cares about them or their pain or who they are. Many aren't even anybody. They believed the Kaminoans, they believe Krell. They are meat droids and everyone they are around thinks the same or gets reconditioned and excluded.
Krell doesn't care about them but he cares about making them believe that they are without worth. Imagine the only reason Krell gets assigned the 501st on Umbara is because his battalion is so decimated that they need to regroup the whole battalion. We also know that the troopers get sent out younger and younger as the war goes on.
Most of Krell's battalion must be nine or eight years old by the time Umbara happens. There is constant replacement through death and decommissioning. The senior troopers are few and become less. The younger clones die earlier because they are surrounded by other inexperienced troopers, because the men didn't have the time to get to know each other, because Krell enjoys to watch the shines die first.

Sometimes I feel like people will read one (1) story and base all their perceptions of a unit/character off of that which. Just doesn't really work imo, ESPECIALLY in the Reminisce stories.
Of course you won't like Shu if you only read Marionette. Of course you won't like Keito if you only read Meteor Impact. Of course you won't like Eichi if you only read Three Magicians (or literally any other reminisce story). Because they all play an antagonistic role.
You're seeing the absolute worst parts of them, their lowest points, when they're at their most desperate and ruthless. And that can be a good thing!!! I would not have the same understanding of any of these characters if I had NOT read those stories, and I'm grateful that I can fully know them better now! But I feel like sometimes, people run with it way too far, and refuse to acknowledge any change from them, even when all three of these examples have apologized and genuinely attempted to better themselves.
That's definitely not to say you have to read all the stories for a unit/character before forming any opinion on them (I freely admit that I could tell you almost nothing about Eden or current fine's development). However, be aware that your opinion may be influenced by certain stories, and that it is very likely you are missing some context for why a certain character acts the way they do.
Therefore, please stay open-minded, or at the very least, honest and polite!

One of my worse fears when I do rereads of the series is that I look at moments where the characters are obscenely rude and/or make offhanded comments and gestures, and they're actually not OOC moments or contradict previous establishing character traits, because the reality is that they're total assholes and we just choose to believe they're nicer than that
#delete later#ernest talks#it's a late night thought and i usually don't trust my own words#but i think about how the narrative leads you away from realizing half the questionable thoughts and actions the characters have#range from 'why would you do this?? at all??“ to 'im starting to think they're assholes'#I'd be horrified if this is frey's idea of crafting a cast of morally gray characters based on trauma and war/abusive environments#and going overboard on the 'their decisions are based on questionable doctrine and living as child soldiers so therefore they are assholes'#'but as the main characters and children of war they are slapped on with the hero label'#'and though their decisions are horrid it makes sense for them and i don't want the readers to hate them'#which i doubt was a reason going forward because the series really pushes you to hate five#who embodies a lot of attributes associated with villainy or the low brow joke so as fat = wealth and power#but also fat and autistic = the weird joke#and is continuously dragged through the series so successfully we have ll fans with a 60/40 chance of going through a five hate phase#was frey trying to do a whole 'show me a complicated man' thing odyssey style when doing this#i doubt the research into references and basing lorien on anything was this deep#but even if it were#the series really dates itself showing a womanizer and an enabler and fatphobia and ableism and racist remarks and poor use of culture and#pushing this really upsetting narrative to its audience#a YA novel series mind you which means middle schoolers seeing this rep and not fully developing critical analysis skills to see what's on

“In a nationwide first, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has outlawed the sale and distribution of lab-grown meat in his state, claiming a ban will prevent “the global elite” from “forcing the world to eat lab-grown meat and insects.”
“Today, Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals,” DeSantis said in a statement following the legislation’s signing Wednesday.”

real people and minority groups are off limits. you have to be nice to them. if you really need someone to be angry with, we can make up a fake group to blame your problems on

Can people please fucking stop making "haha, Floridians are all poor stupid crackheads" jokes?
If we're poor, it's because our state government cares more about the rich tourists in the coastal high-rises than the average citizen, and the cost of living won't stop rising no matter how hard the people scream for relief.
If we're uneducated, it's because our state government is gutting education left and right, and turning it into a battleground in the white supremacist culture war.
If we're addicts, it's because we have no social safety net and self-medication is all we can turn to.
Every Florida Man headline is about a real human being, usually one under extreme duress and with absolutely no social resources to fall back on.
I hope none of you ever have to see a loved one--or yourself--represented as little more than a "Florida Man" joke, when the truth of the situation is that you were scared, starving, and vulnerable to state violence and asshole reporters who would rather pursue a viral headline than respect the dignity of a human being in crisis.
