Gentle reminder that veganism is not a diet.
Veganism is not a lifestyle either.
Veganism is a social justice movement with the goal of liberating animals from our speciesist cultural practices which have incorrectly come to believe that exploiting animals is necessary for survival and even a civilized notion. Being vegan includes doing all that is possible in your power to practically avoid supporting industries and practices which deprive animals of a complete & happy life.
It's not new. It's not a fad. It is radical in this day and age, but simply in the same way that labor laws (eg. for children, slaves, sweatshop workers, slaughterhouse workers, etc) were and still are. Exploitation is exploitation.

i cant think of anything less leftist than choosing to pay for the slaughter of innocent, child-like beings, sexually exploit them, and while doing so unavoidably paying for one of the leading cause of the climate crisis
everyone's "radical leftist" and "remember, you are not immune to propoganda" until you bring up the animal and environmental suffering we've been raised to ignore

We hear your cries, we feel your pain, and we are fighting to stop the absolute evilness of the human race, putting you through torture and not regarding your life at all, inflicting extremely unneeded abuse and neglection upon your desparate, suffering, helpless, and loving souls. We will never stop fighting to end the demand and supply of animal products and slaughterhouses globally and save you from a world of pain, that has happened to trillions of animals at the bloody hands of every slaughterhouse worker and animal product consumer! FUCK NON VEGANS WHO ACTIVELY PAY FOR ANIMAL PRODUCTS KNOWING THE SUFFERING THAT COMES WITH IT!!! Anyone can make a difference! 💓💓💓💓

The milk that cows produce is meant for baby cows. But the dairy industry has fooled us into thinking it is for us humans instead. They create campaigns such as 'got milk' and 'milk mustaches' to make us believe that we should be drinking milk from a cow that is meant for a baby calf.
There are many varieties of plant based milk such as almond or oat. Make the switch for a better world.

I got an axe to grind and info to share.
Should preface this in that, tumblr is not real life, I don't want to set any "dogs" on anyone. Which is why I'm not sharing @'s or replying directly.
I'll link my sources below (though there's many more with minimal research) which, by the way, all come from agriculture aligned organisations.
I wanna respond to this
________
________
It was a response to a question about whether dairy cows need to be pregnant in order to produce milk.
So what's happening here is just a politicians answer. Complicating facts and figures and walking around just giving a direct, simple response.
So....
Yes. In layman's terms, a dairy cow must be pregnant at least once to start producing milk.
But here's where it gets more complicated. I'll concede that, yknow what, they're right. A dairy cow could keep going forever and ever producing milk and not stopping. It's entirely possible.
But most dairy farms, even large agribusiness corporations, do not do this.
And for a reason I find highly ironic.
Because it's bad for the cows health. Obviously.
Obviously it's bad for a cow to constantly be forced to lactate. Dairy farmers usually stop milking from the cow alongside the natural weaning process because that is the healthiest thing to do.
(They then wait on average two months before reimpregnating her and beginning the cycle again which is bad for a variety of reasons I'm sure most people reading this are already aware of.)
What they're talking about here rarely ever happens because it would be ridiculous to do and lead to extremely unhealthy, (not to mention unproductive) cows.
It is completely misleading to suggest that this is some sort of "gotcha!" moment for Animal Rights.
And to make yourself and the industry out to be these caring farmers who truly value their animals health and then literally suggest something that even the wider industry agrees is wrong, is extremely hypocritical and blatantly misleading.
At the end of the day, dairy is still a parasitic little industry and if you go to actual agricultural sources (not a tumblr blog run by a dairy shill), even the dairy industry will tell you that yes,
We will cyclically breed a cow to continue producing milk and selling it for a profit.
That is until she's deemed unproductive and we cull her!

This is one of the many ways farmers stop calves from “stealing” their mothers milk so non-vegans may have cow dairy products... If you’re drinking dairy from a cow, that cows child isn’t drinking it.
