in the nicest and most non-confrontational way possible. i feel like some of you think that anything that isn't directly openly spelled out for you within a story is "missed potential" or "unexplored." like. sometimes there are implied narratives. sometimes the point is that you as the reader are supposed to think and draw your own conclusions and participate in the story. the writers not directly spelling every little detail out for you doesn't mean that the story is poorly written or missed its own plot details somehow. PLEASE.

#if i get one more comment referring to zelda's draconification as wasted potential im going to lose it for real #that's not unexplored potential that is THE ENTIRE STORY. On a scale of Chang Geng to Luo Binghe, how well does your teenage protagonist cope with the realization that he has a massive thing for the guy that's basically raising him?

#15 year old Chang Geng losing his mind fuming alone in his room listening to steampunk wuxia linkin park #while 15 year old Binghe is in the next room over cheerfully updating his teacher crush blog #like yeah teen Binghe is the amount of embarrassed and shy about his feelings that you'd expect from any crush #and he absolutely does have SO many self-hatred issues #especially post demon reveal and abyss-kicking when he's older #but the whole teacher-student/age gap aspect is the one thing about his relationship with sqq that never seems to be a problem for Binghe #meanwhile I just finished spl volume 1 #and at this point I'm pretty sure Chang Geng would sooner kill himself and/or whoever he was talking to #before he'd admit that he has a thing for his godfather #which like. yeah man. Curtwen Week Day 6: Happy Ending

NGL I have STRONG opinions about digital releases omitting the letters to the editor section of older comics. I feel like the letters are a part of comic history and should be aggressively preserved.

#look i was a weirdo and loved the letters so much #so much #so fucking damn much #i still to this day mourn that we don't have them #sometimes the editors would publish blatant aggressive criticism and promise to do better on some things #it was rare but it did happen in a handful of things involving stereotypes #also there is queer history in them such as in superboy and the ravers where people wrote in about hero #asking WHY he was not interested in women and this editor had to so professionally explain that he was GAY and where they stood on it #you also got to read queer readers writing in about these queer characters and the JOY in their words is priceless #also sorry but geoff's letters are fun and stupid at the same time and are a huge insight to what his hcs were #he LOVED tiny krypto so much it likely inspired him making dex starr bc he loved the idea of a small overly powered animal #not saying that was the main reason why ofc but it is interesting that he created dex after praising that mean little mutt #i say with the most love #my venting #my rambles

#literally the scene of Nami reading Zoro Noland’s book at the Baratie is my favorite addition #cause East Blue Nami is so damn prideful so seeing her do something that seems silly-#(reading to someone who isn’t listening)#-is such a fun way to mark her progress as a character #I can see her being the one to remind Sanji of Zeff’s advice and the act of reading to Zoro being a way to process the sort of.#hit to his pride and even self-perception that is Zoro’s interference in Thriller Bark.#why did Zoro stop him? Why would Zoro want to die in his place? Choose his dream instead of his own?#(maybe because he knew that sitting by your friend’s still body- helpless- is the worst feeling in the world)#Aside from this though I can specifically see the book being about the All Blue working #cause its a reminder about what a wonderful dream Sanji has. It’s a way to regain vigor and the willingness to fight for it #after having just tried to discard it in the face of Kuma moments prior. I thought it was like a critical and universal moment in my development into adulthood when I realized everyone is Just Some Guy. no one is inherently more special than anyone else and the luck of being born in the right place at the right time can never be overstated

many many many things have happened since my own Just Some Guy revelation that has made it extremely clear that it is not a universal learning moment and has nothing to do with having a fully grown adult brain, it's just a coincidence that I figured it out in my late teenagehood. But the most annoying and ongoing thing is people who hate Harry and Meghan because they talk in a tone of like "how dare this Just Some Guy (Meghan) do this to The Royal Family‽" but it's actually quite easy to understand when you think of it in terms of Just Some Guys doing stuff to Just Some Other Guys. Even easier when you think of it as Just Some Guys doing stuff to Just Some Other Guys Who Think They're More Than Just Some Guys And Think The First Set Of Just Some Guys Are Less Than Themselves

#i was talking to my mom this weekend about how i was hoping prince Harry would have a just some guy revelation about his grandma #when i was reading his book because he's clearly had the revelation about himself #alas not #but like damn every piece of 'proof' that the book is wrong is just like 'Harry said this and he's just some guy #but someone else in the royal family said this other thing and they're not just some guy so clearly they're right and Harry is lying!'#bro they are both just some guy you can't weight the likelihood of either person lying based on them being just some guy #they're all just some guys!
