What is Beauty/ Beautiful?

Is it how you look or what you wear? Is it the beauty ideals set by the fashion industry, or what you were told growing up is attractive? What makes one beautiful, when what is considered beautiful in one culture is completely different to what it is in another…?

To me, beauty is truth.

Not trying to be anyone but yourself, flaws n’ all. Loving every part of yourself, especially the ones you reject - because even if it needs healing, pushing it away won’t heal it - only your love can.!

To me, real beauty is accepting who you are, and not only accepting it - OWNING IT. Understanding that real beauty is not perfection - it’s REALNESS, RAWNESS. It’s the courage to be who you really are AND LOVE THAT. Cause’ hey, no one is perfect and what is perfection anyways? In fact, it’s our imperfections make us so unique, help us grow and can even become our strengths.

To me, real beauty is confidence. It’s a strong, grounded knowing of who you are. It’s loving that and naturally, effortlessly, unapologetically being that, being really you. When we are connected to ourselves, we can be all that. We can be free to be our true selves, and that’s what makes us not only beautiful - but powerful.

Last week teaching @theplacelondon for pro dance morning classes was so much fun. Earthflow is a movement practice I've been sharing with participants of all levels. It encapsulates ideas from contemporary techniques of Graham and Release, Capoiera, Yoga, Animal Flow and Caribbean Dance. Found myself exhausted as I haven't actually taught that much in a while. Still grateful and excited as teaching just does that to me.
