05x29 - Fools Gold
Feat: Guest appearance from Billy Murray as DI Brian Jackman from the Serious Crime Squad.
Jim practically runs into the station after Pete and Yorkie have apprehended an armed robber. Pete reminds Jim that the man is Uniform's collar and not his! The prisoner, Hill (Played by Daniel Webb) snaps that he wants to see the boss immediately. Jim tells Yorkie and Pete to take Hill to the interview room and checks the gun in with Tom.
Frank is impressed with Jim and Uniform as Hill is responsible for a number of Post Office armed robberies. Frank goes to talk to Hill as he requested but he's clammed up. Jim can't resist gloating to Hill how they caught him - he'd shot at the ceiling to intimidate customers and staff in each Post Office and it was as good as a signature now they have the gun. Hill growls that he only wants to talk to Frank and not Jim. "We're all friends here..." Frank shrugs. Hill eyes him off before claiming he wants to do a deal. Frank removes the PC who had been guarding him and Jim out of the interview room. Hill knows he can be tied to all the Post Office jobs but he has some knowledge of 'bigger jobs' that he wasn't part of but heard all about. The Post Office jobs are nothing compared to them money wise. He mentions a gold bullion robbery but won't say anything more until he knows if Frank will give him a deal.
In the canteen, Jim is moaning about Frank swanning in and taking over. Bob points out that Hill isn't even Jim's collar. "That's not the point, is it!" He protests as Pete and Yorkie join the queue. The two officers aren't happy to hear that their collar is currently 'deal-making with Frank'. "He's grassing..." Bob clarifies for Yorkie.
Frank has softened towards Steve and lighs a cigarette for him as he tells him that he wants the lowdown on the other jobs.
Tumblr media
[He could not be more monotone when he says that!]
Hill agrees, if Frank will give him protection from the gang members. Frank stares at him so Hill starts talking. The boss, Micklewhite owns a sweatshop. The back wall of his office is false and it's where they hide the guns. He doesn't know where the cash is kept. Micklewhite's boyfriend, Paul Craig, works for a gold courier. He provided them with polaroids of the inside of the vans and other inside information. He still works for them so as not to arouse suspicion. Hill asks Frank again for the deal.
Viv has brought in a 14-year-old shoplifter who has stolen condoms from every chemist on the High St. Both she and Tom are fighting to keep straight faces. "It was the Beano and Dandy in my day." Tom states.
Frank takes Hill's information up to the Chief Inspector. Frank is keen to act on it, but Derek asks how they can be sure he's not filling him full of rubbish? Frank says Hill knows too much, they've been able to confirm that three of the men are known associates of Micklewhite and the two of them were inside together a few years back. The Serious Crimes Agency have been contacted and are sending over DI Brian Jackman. Derek agrees to move forward and give Hill a deal but he wants it all above board. He orders Tom to bail the two prisoners in the female cells and to place Hill in there alone so he's isolated from anyone else they bring in.
Hill is marched through the station by Frank with an unimpressed Pete and Yorkie following. Bob joins the procession once they reach Custody and Hill is placed into the women's cell block. Frank tells him to ring the bell if he needs anything and Sgt Penny will bring it through to him. "I'm not room service, you know." Tom frowns at Frank. "Well, that's good because you're not getting any tips."
June and Viv are complaining about every call to each estate always being up several flights of stairs. This one is the third floor. It's to visit the young lad's mum to inform her that her son has been arrested for stealing condoms! Tom takes him a sandwich, cuppa and comic in the mean time. He tells Tom that they won't get an answer from her because she'll be with her boyfriend as she has been for the last three days. She'd left him in charge of his sisters who are 4 and 6. Tom realises this means the girls are home alone and he flies out the cell to tell June and Viv. It feels like a big explanation as to why he was shoplifting condoms was removed - surely food/drink/sweets would have been a better idea? Or toys/clothing/blankets?
Viv peeps through the letterbox and calls out to the girls to ask them to open the door. She explains they're police officers and are there because Christopher asked them to come and see them. He wants them to join him at the station. The elder of the two shakes her head and tells Viv to go away.
Frank shows Ted and Jim the record of David Micklewhite. They're due to move on the sweatshop that evening. He also tells them that DI Brian Jackman is on the way. He and Ted used to be DC's together. "... Should be like old times."Frank smirks. Ted does not look happy to be meeting an old 'friend'.
Tumblr media
Frank sends a radio down to Hill for him to use in his cell. Tom is clearly not impressed by the special treatment he is receiving. Tom also passes him the comics he'd tried to give Christopher. "A 14-year-old kid was offered them. Thought they were a bit juvenile."
Tumblr media
Jackman goes straight to meet Hill in his cell. Hill asks what he can get in return for helping them and Jackman says 'The usual for turning Queen's evidence." (without actually saying what that is!) Frank suggests that helping them might also help him keep his girlfriend. When he gets out they suggest he walk off into the sunset.
Jackman and his snazzy tie then head into the canteen to catch up with Ted who is not overly pleased to see him and barely says a word.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jackman tells Ted that he didn't expect that Frank Burnside was still in the job - "not that there aren't a few people surprised by that, if you know what I mean." Ted warns him not to try it on with him as it won't get him anywhere. He walks off to the surprise of Frank who walks over and asks Jackman what happened. Jackman claims that they were good drinking friends until he was made DS over Ted. It was never the same after that, according to him.
A rather posh blonde, Janet Spencer, attends the front office, asking to speak to Frank Burnside about Steve Hill. Bob takes her name and asks her to wait whilst he tries to see if Frank knows about her visit.
Jackman lets his guard down when noone else is around to hear his phone call and tells his boss that he considers Sun Hill a Mickey Mouse outfit. He clams up when Frank appears and plays the game again. Frank tells him he can offer him 6 members of uniform and a photographer. He is clearly not buying Jackman's Mr Nice Guy act.
Taffy and Bob admire Ms Spencer and Taffy claims she's a cracker that would make him consider bigamy. Frank passes and Bob shouts over to him to get his attention before pointing Spencer out to Frank. Frank is pleased and shows her through personally.
Viv and June collect Christopher from the station and bring him - and Christine - to the flat to collect the girls. Christine is horrified to see the state of the place and the girls sat alone watching the only cartoon that it appears TPTB bought the rights to to show - Count Duckula!
Frank and Jackman lead the procession of police officers to Micklewhite's sweatshop. They burst inside and Micklewhite seems to think they're there for the workers, claiming that they're all legal 'as far as he knows'. He's concerned to hear they're there for him and that they're aware of the false wall in his office. Frank stops him from phoning anyone, and Jim brings in a sledgehammer, taking great chunks out of the wall. Micklewhite gives up any pretence and tells them Hill is the only one who knew about the wall and he's a dead man walking.
The mother of Christopher and the girls arrives at the station and demands to see her children. She claims they had no right to take the kids and she wants them back. Bob warns her that their Inspector wants a word with her.
Jim manages to break through the wall and they find several bags stuffed full of cash and guns. Jackman tells Frank he can't possibly trust Sun Hill with that amount of cash before claiming it was just a joke. Frank - alongside Ted and Jim - are not amused. "Don't start getting on my nerves Mr Jackman."
At the station, Ted and Jim are horrified that Frank is ordering them to change into shorts and t-shirts to count the money. Not only that, but Tom is going to search them before and after the search as a precaution. He assures them that he trusts them but he's not giving Jackman the opportunity to try anything on.
In CID, Jackman is on the phone urging his station to nick the rest of the gang before they hear about Micklewhite's arrest. They've already arrested his boyfriend and his sister. The boyfriend started telling them everything before he reached the station! Frank is less impressed to see Jackman ordering Yorkie to go out to collect a takeaway for Hill. Hill hands over the cash but asks him to get a receipt so he can claim it back. Yorkie looks to Frank who is unhappy but quietly tells him to do it.
Yorkie almost charges into June and apologises but explains he's annoyed because that morning he was arresting Hill for holding a sawn-off shotgun to a postmaster's head and now he's got the VIP treatment and he has to go out to get him a Chinese takeaway. [Good job he's not an officer where I live. A local joke is that they take to the roof and throw tiles for a few hours when they want a free takeaway from the police considering how often it happens.]
Tumblr media
Jim and Ted finish counting the cash. There's close to 2 million pounds there. (Inflation-wise that's around £5million now) Ted tells Jim that that sort of money makes him think about never having to work again and laying on a beach somewhere hot, drinking sangria and pulling women. Jim shrugs and claims it's just like playing Monopoly to him and that he doesn't really think about it.
Outside the cell where they counted it they have to get patted down by Tom - who is also not happy about having to do it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Christine goes to speak to Mrs Simpson, the mother of the three children. She tells her they've been taken into care and that she's lucky she's not going to prosecute her for leaving them. It's not the first time that Christopher has been left to look after them. She hands over the telephone number of the social worker and leaves the room, unimpressed by her sobs that she wants them back.
Yorkie returns with the takeaway for Hill. It's the first Tom has heard about it and he thinks it's out of order too. Hill's girlfriend is in the cell with him and Hill snarks about the food that Yorkie has brought which further pisses Yorkie off. Tom has to pull him away when he shouts at Hill. Jackman overhears and warns him that if he was in his station he'd have Yorkie on a charge. Frank ignores him and bollocks Hill for winding Yorkie up and tells Yorkie to remove the food and the girlfriend. Jackman reassures Hill they'll have him moved somewhere else as soon as he can okay it. Frank orders Jackman to his office.
Ted is amused to hear Jackman and Frank's raised voices approaching CID. Frank accuses him of having it all planned and Jackman admits as soon as they saw the amount of money involved that Sun Hill was not the place to hold him. Frank accuses him of being a smooth-talking user. Jackman accuses Sun Hill of being an amateur outfit, and "strictly a black and decker job." whereas he is the professional. Frank throws his coat at him and orders him out of his nick within the next hour, otherwise he'll bounce him out.
Frank catches Ted watching and the men exchange a long look. They talk about the money and he tells him it's all been counted and is currently locked in a cell awaiting collection. They both admit it would be nice for Sun Hill to get hold of the rest of the group but at least it means Jackman has to do the paperwork now. Frank admits that Ted was right about Jackman and offers to buy him a pint.

The Chilling Adventures Of Super-Mamas 🧸
Tumblr media
— Ruby Webb and Son 🕸️ Today
Summary: Meanwhile Mama is a work Momma has to take care of the kids, but work calls.
|🕸️🧸🔥|
Note: Silly sweet and a little goofy fic. A little bit of angst too, Mia might need a hug after this episode
Characters mentioned: Luna, Rick, Maria Hill, and etc
———————
Liane was picking up her phone and purse getting ready to rush out the door. Mia was sitting in the living room chair as Eli was playing with his toys on the floor as the TV played in the background.
“You sure you want me to go?” Liane asked reapplying her lipstick and rambling, “Cause I can always reschedule or cut my business day eariler. I know it won’t be profitable or professional for my clients but Luna said she was busy picking wedding flowers with Rochelle, so she might not have time to make to her appointment anyway and..”
“Honey, honey, honey!” Mia repeated sipping her orange juice as she looked up from her phone.
“What?”
“You’re starting to sound like me.
“Huh?…Oohhh! Yikes, yeah, nope! I should go soon then, shouldn’t I?”
“Yes you should, Luna and Ricky’s wedding is coming and Luna might keep making excuses to not come to your store, cause she doesn’t want to bother you, if you don’t show up.”
“Ughhh you’re so right! Oh my goodness yeah no, nope I gotta head out! Promise me you won’t sit all day and watch Bluey with Taylor!”
“Of course not…Now go!”
Tumblr media
Liane kissed Eli’s face telling him to not let ice cream all day with his mother and was ushered out the door by Mia, before the blonde can return back inside. Mia closed the door behind her letting out a sigh and picked up the 6 year old boy sitting him on the couch with her. He giggled as his Momma handed him a piece of an old fashioned glazed donut.
“Yummy! Technically not ice cream.” Elliot says munching on the donuts, “Mama gone, can we watch Bluey now?”
“Oh yeah! Mama thinks Bluey is a little overrated but we love it. What if we watch Phineas and Ferb too?” Mia said as she suggested the other show with a grin.
“YES! Can we do the musical one?”
“You are definitely our kid.”
Half an hour later, the two sat on the couch watching Bluey and Phineas & Ferb episode as they enjoyed some snacks. The two were singing along to the entire episode of Phineas & Ferb, chuckling and making silly comments across the series. They even decided to watch Moana.
“I love this movie!” Mia chuckled taking a bite of her apple slices.
“Just don’t sing the boy parts, Mommy!” Elliot remarked.
“I can’t make promise i can’t ke—”
That was when her phone rang. It was Mr. Jameson! As Mia picked up the phone call, the phone practically shook with her boss’s booming voice.
“Where the heck are you, Parker?! You better not be lying around! I needed those photos 4 hours ago!” Jameson yelled over the phone.
“I um…well..heh, today is my day off, sir. I’m at home right now, tomorrow I go back to work.” Mia replied gently, very startled by her boss’s booming voice that almost broke her ear drums.
“UGHHH! I thought one of my employees said you were here today! They lied! Just then those damn pictures over the web or whatever you kids do in this modern day!”
As she heard JJJ ranting and babbling about god knows what, Mia text Maria Hill and her other phones if they can watch her son for a bit. Sadly some of them were busy and others were taking the day to relax. Maria Hill was spending the day with Natasha and their grandchildren. Then she glanced at her costume laying around in the other room and smirked exchanged a cheeky grin with Elliot. He grinned brightly.
“Gee sir!” Mia said loudly over the phone that was on speaker, “I don’t really know to use the web that well. Maybe just can just swing by real quick?”
Elliot chuckled, “HA HA!”
“Whatever Parker, just get here as soon as possible!” Jameson shouted then hung up.
~~~~
So Mia strapped on her Ruby Webb suit with a backpack and extra water bottles carrying Elliot as she swung across the city. The mother-son pair chatted and waved at citizens, even swinging by the windows of buildings as they crossed a park. Mia was so focused on making sure Elliot was strapped in her arms safely as she swung across the streets, she didn’t noticed Sandman until her son pointed out.
“Momma is that the Sandy guy?” He pointed out in awe with a little smile.
“Sandman?!” She exclaimed, under the domino mask and a hoodie of her suit.
“Can we play with him please?”
“I don’t know, baby..”
“Pleaseeee!”
“…uhhh okay, fine, maybe just real quick.”
Tumblr media
Mia climbed down and landed in the park carrying Eliot. To her surprise Sandman was messing around with strangers, playing with kids and causing a huge mess per se. But he seemed harmless today, cause the kids and teenagers surrounding him weren’t upset despite the area being a little silly looking.
“Hey Sandy! Can you watch this little guy for me? It will be just a second, I’m gonna an errand right now!” Mia said cheerfully holding up her son who smiled brightly waving at William, “Thanks!”
“Uhm sure, Webby.” He said a little surprised at the unexpected moment with a half smile.
“Hehe thank you! He likes big slides.”
Elliot grinned, “Do a monster truck!”
He took Sandman’s hand running off to play with the other days, seeing his friends there too. Mia chuckled staying for a few seconds watching them, almost immediately losing track of time but then Mr. Jameson called her phone. She whined and rushed off to The Daily Bugle.
~~~
She snuck into a window, changing into a blazer that was in her office and sweating her hair into a ponytail before slipping out of the bathroom. Her co-worker Charlie Olsen, waved at her handing the girl extra papers to show their boss and apologize for her coming in today. Mia smiled and told him that it’s okay, it wasn’t his fault. Jake Kwan, Liane’s assistant, must’ve accidentally mistakenly sent a text message wrong to JJJ or something.
She grabbed the folder with the photos from her backpack as she rushed into Jameson’s office.
Tumblr media
“Um, hi! Here are the pictures you wanted, sir.” Mia said entering the office holding the folder filled with of The Avengers fighting downtown last weekend.
Jameson stood up from his seat and exclaimed in his loud booming voice, “What took you so damn long?”
“I just got in like a few minutes ago from Manhattan..”
“So? You want me to be impressed by that, Parker?”
“Um, no-no sir. I had to drop my kid off with a babysitter, so it took me a few minutes to get here. You do have kids, don’t you sir?”
“Don’t sass me Parker!”
“I…I was—sorry. Would that be all, Jameson?”
“Yes Parker, that would be all. Next time i want photos of those vigilante and newcomers heroes that keep popping up, like those X-men! Young Avengers too! And other heroes at events!”
She handed him the pictures as he looked them over. He went on a discussion about other things as he did. Mia just nodded quietly listening to him talk and walked out, taking a breath wiping her eyes at Jameson’s rude tone and booming voice. Charlie asked if she was okay and needed a moment before heading back home. Mia nodded sitting at her desk and wiping her eyes grabbing a sip of water, something she understood what Liane and her friends said about Jameson’s attitude towards people can bruise people’s feelings.
But she liked her job, as she was able to take photographs and write articles. After a few moments she picked herself up from the chair and removed her remembering that she had her son to pick up, as she rushed out the building swinging onto the buildings as Ruby Webb. She can deal with her own problems later over dinner or whatever.
~~~
Elliot was sitting in a monster truck as Sandman made a bunch of sand based items for the kids. He was definitely Liane’s son asking for a specific thing, in this case sand toy looking truck.
“Uh, like this?” Sandman looked up at sandy monster truck.
“No!” Elliot sassed him with a big smile, “Make it more like a Hot Wheels toy! With big wheels and a cool door. And flames pictures on the door.”
“Uhhh..”
That’s when Mia swung in waving, “Hey there! I hope he wasn’t too much trouble for ya!”
She climbed over to the monster truck and picked him up, telling him it’s time to go.
Her son smiled, “He made a truck!”
“I can see that, baby! But he got a little lazy on the details huh?” She added.
~~~~
The rest of the day was spend going to the store for a quick shopping trip, buying McDonald’s and playing at the park together. Then Mia swung them home, texting Liane about the grocery she bought, as they unpacked the groceries together.
A couple of hours later, Liane walked in removing her jacket and heels calling out to the house that she’s back home. She smiled seeing the two of them back on the couch once again, right where she left them earlier that morning.
“Aside from the obvious grocery store trip, did you guys get off the couch today?” Liane asked joining them on the couch, guessing there must’ve been something else they did today.
“Only to use the bathroom and wash dirty laundry we had in the hamper.” Mia responded looking up from the iPad.
Of course Elliot answered with a smile, “That’s no true, Mama! We played at the park too and a lot of other stuff. We just sat down to watch Sleeping Beauty and Tangled.”
Liane grinned at the mention of her favorite movies, “Now that’s more like it! Make room for me.”
The three of them sat down cuddling on the couch to watch Sleeping Beauty tonight. Elliot cuddled on his Mama’s lap as Liane rested her head on Mia’s shoulder. She glanced at the brunette for a second, “You okay?”
“Yeah i’m fine..” She added softly, brushing it off.
“Mia.”
“What? I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine. I don’t want to call Petra or anyone to know what happened. I’ll find out later after dinner right?”
“Um..yeah. Uh huh. I’ll tell you later.”
“Okay. Oh! Work was good, we got a pretty decent deal on new equipment and the dress we started for Luna is beautiful.”
The brunette smiled at the blonde’s expression and how she explained how her day went. Usually it was the brunette who was listening to her issues and coming up with a smooth form of comfort. The blonde knew something was up but she knew she will find out eventually, so it was better that she leave it alone until later.
Life for them was never always sunshine and rainbows, was it? But they try their best to handle it.
Now just enjoy the movie.
~~~
I swear the writers hated letting characters that have struggled actually be happy. The relationship up and downs between Mickey and Mia are quite something. Mickey of course struggling to open up about what happened with Delaney, finally doing it and then Heaton and Mia having a fling behind Mickey's back. Why? No disrespect to Heaton's actor, but if I had to choose between Heaton and Mickey it'd be Mickey every day of the week despite the obvious flaws. Rewatching it a second time properly it really is something and I really wished Mickey and Mia had been allowed to just be.
Jack's support through the whole plot line and him clearly wanting to see Mickey happy too was really sweet, even if he did overstep a boundary mentioning Mickey's ex fiancee. There are really so many other moments from this plot line I could ramble and make gifs of, but lets be honest, Mickey punching Heaton over the desk is just SUCH a satisfying gif it needed making.
Overall I guess I'm also glad that once it was done it was done. Mia left a few eps later, Heaton refused Mickey's resignation, and he wisely had Mickey keep an eye on Jack during 'The Prodigal Son' and 'Judgement Call' plots.
Smiffina Episodes: Episodes 486 and 487
Not strictly Smiffina episodes, however it does affect both and both have been shown to be very worried about it - and Gina is involved in how it comes out too.
Episode 486
It's June's last week and she's partnered with Roger to police the final evictions of the Aldbourne Estate that has been bought by a developer, Frank Butcher Brian Stevens. Yet again the trope happens - they get coffee and donuts... and a call arrives. During a council meeting, one of the final remaining tenants, Harris, handcuffs himself to a seat. When the police arrive and uncuff him, Harris assaults Stevens and all hell breaks loose. Stevens presents as a friendly open and above board man of the people who has been harassed by Harris and June gently manipulates the situation to make him not press charges so that Harris can go free.
June speaks to Harris and tells him that he can go free but he must accept that he's being evicted. Harris insists it's corrupt and thats why he's still fighting. Before the developer and councillor talked, the councils plan was to sell the flats to the tenants. Now a fake plan had been produced that says the idea had been to redevelop the estate and that that had been the plan all along. That's what has got Harris' back up and is why he refuses to leave his home of 40 years. He has no physical evidence himself but he does know of someone in Stevens' employ that is feeding him the information. June asks him to make a meeting with the man because she needs to see the details to take it further.
Heaton has rekindled his affair with Georgia, the DAC. His wife sends him a message telling him to get the rest of his things whilst she's out that night.
Harris' contact agrees to a meeting in the next hour. He backs up what Harris told June and shows her proof but insists he won't do anything official. June takes it to Gina and Heaton who agree that further investigation is warranted and advise June to speak to the council members and to do a financial check as well as an email trail between Davis - the council member who appears to have been bribed - and Stevens. June gets a telephone call before she can complete her checks - their informant from within Steven's company - has been assaulted. There's no CCTV and the only witness is an old man who saw someone in a balaclava running away. The victim claims it was just a mugging and Stevens turns up at the hospital to ask how he is.
John tells them it seems that - if they're willing to go this level - it could be that they already know about their investigation and are could be burning evidence - they'll have to be arrested. The councillor has a bank account over in Spain that he has been putting in 3000 euros in weekly for a few months until the total was the equivalent of £50K. It started a week after Stevens approached the council and it just so happens that they started days after Stevens removed £50K from his own bank account! The Super is going to interview Davis with June and wants Gina to take Stevens.
Davis claims there's nothing to tell and their relationship is simply business after he bought a flat from his company. It's simply a coincidence, according to him, that he was on the planning committee. He claims however that there's nothing untoward.
Steven's isn't so cool under Gina's questioning, claiming that he can't remember what his emails are relating to. There's allegedly nothing dodgy behind the 10K donation to a day center that one of the other councillors daughter attends, it's simply a repayment of a favour for getting him a table at her husbands exclusive table. He claims the 50K that he removed in cash last May was simply to pay for things as a builder/developer as cash is handier than cheques and the like.
Davis reckons the 50K is money that he's saved up over the last 30 years in a box in the house and that his wife told him to start paying it into an account as they're about to buy a Spanish property.
Finally Roger finds a date in the two mens diaries that match up to show they attended lunch at the same restaurant at the same time 2 weeks before Stevens approached the council and they'll be able to get the CCTV for it, CCTV that shows that they are sitting together at the same table. As an aside, it's called Enstone's Bar. (The dodgy finance company involved in the Larson cover up was also called Enstone Finance...)
June is acting a little suspicious however... she's noticed a familiar name amongst Stevens' files... Georgia Hicks - the DAC. She tells Rod she's on to something and can't chat after collecting the CCTV - however her car is run off the road and the CCTV tape stolen before she can return to Sun Hill. She's physically fine and manages to stumble out of the car and contact Sun Hill
Georgia goes to speak to John as she's had Councillor Davis ringing her about being arrested, claiming that there was no evidence about it and that if he's going to arrest council officials then he should approach her first. She also tells him that they're going to find out the next morning which station is to close - Barton St or Sun Hill. She insists she has no idea which way it will go. Then she invites John to come and stay with her rather than in a hotel.
Gina and June catch up back at the station where June shows Gina the emails she's found between Stevens and Georgia that detail that a development plan is being prepared for his company to purchase Sun Hill and redevelop the land that the station is on and that Georgia had agreed and told him that they will be able to offer the land.
The women take the proof upstairs to the Superintendent, however he's already left the office. Outside however, June spots him with Georgia - kissing her before getting in the same car.
Episode 487
It's the day of the final evictions and Heaton is on the ground and tells Harris that they have not found hard evidence of corruption. He then has to return for a meeting with the DAC. Diane and Roger find a young man with a petrol can who claims he's the registered owner and he's simply filling it up.
June confesses what she saw last night between the Superintendent and the DAC. She worries that he might be helping Georgia with Stevens' plan and they leave the office, only to find him stood with Georgia. John asks if they know who ran her off the road yet and she says Mickey is working the case. Georgia noticeably hesitates at the bottom of the stairs, listening in.
John asks for the answer about the police station closure and she bulls him up saying that it's too late for an appeal and that she'll find him another station when they merge. He says he won't roll over and let them do it and she says the plans have already been approved.
June has been digging and she finds that Georgia doesn't just own one of the flats that Stevens has been building - but it's a Docklands penthouse. Gina sighs and says they need to take it up to John and get the DPS involved. John locks away the file of June's evidence and tells them he doesn't want it to get out and that Mickey will continue the investigation but he mustn't be told about the DAC. He insists he'll continue the investigation into the DAC and Brian Stevens. June is fuming, insisting he's going to cover it up. Gina tells her that any Super would have to play it carefully and they have to give him a chance. June refuses - she's not going to let him bring down Sun Hill.
On the estate, Reg mutters the immortal line: "I can't imagine anything is going to happen!" right as a car explodes into flames! It's the same car Diane and Roger saw earlier being filled. Diane arrests the boy and Harris is arrested at the same time, telling Roger he tried to stop him.The young boy fakes a fit and Diane gets taken hostage inside the van whilst the outside of it is attacked by the remaining residents. Thankfully it doesn't escalate that far but it does mean that the evictions are further delayed. Harris apologises to the officers for what happened with Diane getting taken hostage - he was approached by the young lad who said he could help, but he had no idea that he'd go so far or act so dangerously. The other residents feel the same, Harris says and that the lad is now on his own - with his little posse of hooligans as the real residents are now too frightened to leave their flats. Harris has to accept that it's over and that he'll lose his flat as he's arrested again. Nikki tells him it's ok, she'll ensure one of her officers keep a close eye on the bailiffs and makes sure nothing gets broken.
Brian insists his son was with him at the snooker hall at the time of June's accident when it's claimed his son's car was used to run her panda car off the road. Mickey, unaware of the background information, is frustrated by June's attempt to press him to do things he doesn't think the evidence backs up. He also even says: "If it was me June, I'd be at home with me feet up." No you wouldn't Mickey! You'd be even worse than June at having to investigate it yourself and get in everyone else's faces! Thankfully a little while later, Mickey finds some CCTV that proves that it was a lie. June is about to let Mickey into what's been going on with Georgia , Heaton and the station but Heaton appears in Custody and she gets distracted, simply following Mickey to interview Stevens.
Stevens insists he's not going to answer their questions when shown the CCTV proof. June slips up by saying the DAC can't save him there and he plays the innocent. She tells him she's seen the emails but Mickey ends the interview to talk to June, asking what she's talking about. Mickey bitches her out about keeping information from him. She has to let it all out but Mickey insists she's acting nuts and it's nothing important. Really Mickey... remember your digging into Chandler with Jack? It's not that dissimilar! She tells him the DAC is corrupt. Mickey: "So you're saying the Superintendent is bent too?" He scoffs, telling her he doesn't want her on the investigation anymore. Funny how he's so quick to forget all the hunches he's had when the evidence is pointing another way - and the Chandler et al stuff... and the Delaney stuff... and all the others! He tells her to take it up with the Superintendent - and then goes to speak to him himself, telling him what has happened!
John's only response is 'is it on tape? Did Sgt Ackland name the DAC on tape?" Mickey says yes - then John says he wants the tape and the files and that he's removing Mickey from the job... surely that should ring some jingle bells, Mickey?
Mickey snaps that he's been removed off the case by the Super to June and hands everything over to him in front of her. "What are you doing?!" June asks incredulously, forced into an office by Heaton who gives her a dressing down about bringing up the DAC and bringing Stevens' in. "I don't think you're in any position to threaten me, Sir." June glares. "I saw you with the DAC last night, you're protecting her!""Be careful what you say." Heaton growls back. "You may regret it."
On the estate, the sun has now set and the relief are facing attacks on the stairwell by the hooligans from earlier. It's wrong to laugh but in the riot suits with their shields the men could literally make two of poor Diane.
Georgia and John meet at the side of the river to talk. He asks her how he knows Stevens' and she says she doesn't other than his case. He lets on that he now knows about her flat and why she's being named in an email by a councillor about the sale of Sun Hill. He's been doing some research - it appears that she also owns a place in Spain sold by Stevens too. He tries to tell her he'll deal with it if she tells him everything. She admits she had a fling with him when she was newly qualified. He sold her both places at a special rate and falsified financial figures to get them. She admits telling him a year ago that Sun Hill might be merging with Barton St and he threatened he'd go to the press about her if she didn't get him the plot secured. She also admits changing the report about Sun Hill and also that councillors were bribed to get him the estate. Her only upset is that John was hurt and she asks him to help her.
Steven's growls at Nikki for not letting his men start work and she snaps back that it's a crime scene and noone gets anywhere without his say so. Heaton appears and Steven's smirks thinking he's about to get his own way... only for Heaton to arrest him. He thinks he's about to go once they're at the station and he's about to be booked in when John says there's been a new development. The smile is wiped off his face when Heaton tells him that his son has just admitted to driving June off the road.
John goes to address the relief at the end of the day, telling them he wants to confirm a rumour. Sun Hill is not going to close. June still worries they're going to bury the DAC's involvement in the corruption. She marches into John's office and insists she'll call the DPS herself if she has to. John tries to stop her, Georgia tries to get her thrown out the room.... and the DPS arrive to arrest Georgia. Heaton had already called them and he hands over a recording of their conversation to them.
