Kakyoin : Okay Mrs...Lum and uhhh...Ataru was it?
Ataru : Yep.
Lum : That's me.
Kakyoin : It's so good that you finally begin to work with us at David Production studio. But hey, I gotta ask you something. Where were you during that time around before the reboot?
Lum : Uhh...
(in a memory of Lum, Lum guising herself as Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx)
Ataru : Lum! Hurry up! We gotta get our memories back before the show goes back on.
Lum : Right just a moment! I'll be right there!
(Lum finishing guising up as Zero Two)
Zero Two (Lum) : Alright, rock and roll, Lum.
(pans back)
Lum : saving planets from a meteorite..

Apparently you're dungeon meshi gender
Yes indeed! 😂😂😂
And yours was 😭🍓, right? Given that strawberry is ichigo in japanese, my theory is that your "crying ichigo" gender is on a spectrum from

Darling in the Franxx Theory
Here’s another one I was thinking about
--------------------------------
I’m not sure if Zero Two will get captured by the princess but in case she does and something happens....
I wonder since Mitsuru wanted to pilot a Franxx with Hiro, that they would be able to pilot one together now that Hiro is starting to grow horns? The 9′s have horns when they pilot right? idk if that would enable them to ride together though but idk
It just popped into my head after watching some of the Franxx episodes again.
And deff Nana previously was apart of maybe the former 13 squad or another test Dr. Franxx was doing because her first sign of a headache/memory thing happened when he mentioned “You’ve been down this road too, you know” (ep 16) after discussing the tests and Papa or whatever. She didn’t look like she knew what he meant and then she winced as her head hurt.
Anyway, I think if what the VA actors say about Mitsuru being the ‘dark hero’, him helping to pilot a Franxx to get Zero Two back might be that? idk
I DONT WANT MITSURU TO DIE ALSKDJFLASDJFLASDJFLKASJF
And why didn’t I notice that Miku had grey hair before??? WHAT IS GOING ON....
only 5 more days until I can find out. FML.

The reason why some anime/manga/vgs end in a disappointing way
“That was a great anime/manga! Except for the ending, that was totally crap.”
Sounds familiar?
We get to read, watch and even play lots of wonderful Japanese media products as we get involved with their stories and fall in love with their characters.
But... In the end we may get a liiiiitle bit disappointed in how these stories reach their conclusion.
Well that is just how Japanese tell their stories.
It’s not to freak their audience out (even if in the end they actually do, I know, it’s a pain.).
This narrative structure is called Kishōtenketsu .
So, what is this Kishotenketsu?
It’s the typical Chinese/Japanese narrative structure that comes from ancient poetry and plays. The plot is divided into four categories:
Kiku 起句, INTRODUCTION: you meet the characters in their setting.
Shōku 承句, DEVELOPMENT: you get to know appreciate them.
tenku 転句, TWIST: UNEXPECTED plot twist (that makes you think wtf!?)
kekku 結句, CONCLUSION: wrapping up the previous parts.
The key in the Kekku conclusion is that they don’t get a “happy ending” the way westerners immagine it but go for a “new beginning” instead. That does not mean you cannot have both, but the focus is actually put on the latter.
I’ll give you some random examples of “New Beginning” ends:
Ranma 1/2:
Ranma and Akane should marry, but they can’t as they still have to take care of some unresolved issues.
Fairy Tail:
Zeref defeated? Yeah, who cares, we still have to work our asses off. (I will discuss how kishotenketsu works great for sequels in a later post, stay tuned)

Soul Eater:
What the heck, Crona!? Maka, Soul & co. still have to save their friend (?) who is imprisoned with the Kishin. This is FAR from being over.

The End Of Evangelion:
Do I even have to say something about this? Also when is damn episode 4.44 coming out!?

Some recent examples may include Darling in the Franxx, Tokyo Ghoul, Erased... I can go on and on and on andonandonandonandon with this list but I guess that’s enough for now.
So basically what happens here?
Our characters get to solve the main issue but that does not mean they don't still have other issues to take care of. Life goes on, right? That’s acutally kinda realistic, far from the happily ever after end.
To sum up: a new beginning full of uncertainties awaits them.
In part 2 I will talk about conflict & climax.
Thanks for reading!

*Spoilers for DitF Ep 17+ A theory that no one cares about , but I'm taking to my grave : So you can hear a glitch during this scene And at first I thought it was just the quality But you visually see Mitsuru in pain, hear him in pain & the damn subs are about him in pain . Then, remember the whole 'their memories erased & it's painful just remembering each other's nicknames' Ofc they remember each other now ( or at least they made new ones) But what if the name thing is still true? Right before the glitch,Mitsuru said Kokoro's name Then she was all like 'I told you to call me Mama' I get it's a thing you do with your kids so they'll do it too But on the other hand, what IF they're doing this too 'cause it physically hurts to say their real/nicknames? :’c In conclusion, DitF did a lot of things wrong But this ship wasn't one of them <3 I just want my babies to be happy.

DiTF Theory post on Ikuno
ok so I was thinking about the current ED and I think it's possible Ichikuno may be an end game ship. In this ED one of the scenes was Ikuno about to kiss ichigo ya know this one.
Well I have been paying attention to the interaction between Ikuno and Ichigo and maybe it's just me but I feel like they seem to be interacting more in recent episodes (16 and 17 respectively). On top of that Ichigo has gotten over her crush with hiro and accepted that Hiro loves Zero Two. I also want to bring to attention this screencap
Notice how all we are shown is she's holding someone's hand, I think this may have been intentionally done to indicate that Ichigo could end up with a guy OR a girl, notably Ikuno. I may be absolutely wrong and if I am I won't be upset but I really hope i'm right bc I would love to see more wlw representation in anime.

You know I notice this interesting thing. Code numbers may show how characters related to each other. Maybe it’s just my insane theory btw look at picture. Red numbers show the relationships between the characters. What kind of connection, you must guess
Zero two x Hiro, Goro x Ichigo, Mitsuru x Kokoro. Also Kokoro and Futoshi doesn’t have similar numbers, just like Zorome x Miku (390x666). Who knows what this means. Maybe nothing.
But in this anime so many hints , so who knows

So did anyone else notice the resemblance between 002 with the klaxosaur princess and karina milsa? And between Dr. Franxx and Hiro? Or is it just me? I mean look at some of these comparisons. I mean 002 and the klaxosaur is obvious but look at the second picture where he jaw line and face match up with karinas. And then in the third and fourth Hiro and franxx are literally making the same face, as well as there hair matching up and Hiro even has one eye being partly obstructed

Idk it might just be me but it looks like Hiro might be a franxx clone and 002 a mixture between klax and karina, let me know what you think

Darling in the Franxx Episode 19 Thoughts
Another great episode. Glad to see Dr. Franxx’s Backstory and with that ending we saw it’s confirmed that Zero Two is a Clone of The Princess. My one question now is in regards to Hiro. The more I thought about it the more I realized something: Dr. Franxx when he was young looked like an Adult version of Hiro. If you read this far then you might see where my mind is going from here. Is Hiro a Clone of Dr. Franxx? That’d be interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised since he’s always had an interest in Hiro among all the Parasites and he did everything he could to keep him alive claiming he was important. He probably wants to see what could have happened between himself and the KP under different circumstances.

DARLING IN THE FRANXX SPOILERS
Everyone is talking about Mitsuru and Kokoro having the death flag, but I have this weird feeling (maybe its just me hoping it doesnt actually happen lmao) that the writers KNOW we're all thinking and saying that; so they're gonna pull smthn we werent expecting on us and either way I'm nervous and if any of these kids die Im suing for emotional trauma.
I just have a hard time thinking theyre gonna do smthn that obvious? Im hoping at the worst theyre cast out to defend for themselves.
They already know what they did is taboo and are willing to face that together no matter what. So whatever outcome may show I hope it's a happy one bc I dont think i can handle seeing my favourite characters dying while potentially going to be parents.

If my analysis is correct, we'll get a new biggie development of mitsukoko on ep 18, its probably kokoro episode My base was from number of roses meaning in each ep: 16: unstable love 17:desperate,Irreparable love "18:The confession and sincerity of love" 19:Endure and look forward to your love 20:Love to your death Also since they give the spoiler in this special talk, it shouldn't be that far away, at most is 4 ep after 15, which is 19 at max. 16 ep, the director already said it will 1st start from hiro02; ep 17 i've got a feeling its Ikuno episode, with some hints in the ep 16 probably Now on ep 18 is the one most likely the seiyuus of mitsukoko said, those 2 will definitely get some kind of development. Like maybe... kokoro confessed to mitsuru? XD or she kinda found something about klaxo, is actually a human experiments and breakdown cause she's been killing a baby? And that's where mitsuru came in?? X//D i still had a feeling either mitsuru or kokoro will confessed though, my best bet goes into kokoro is the 1st one to confess haha This is all just my stupid analysis though; maybe the roses number meaning might not be correct too which would destroy all of my analysis, and also japs people on twitter send some kind of bad vibes prediction; but i dont think the bad vibes is likely to happen after watching this special talk, and some just way too out of league... Like some saying genista is pregnant or pruning or something, and those 2 ran away... And some said the worst... that is mitsuru would die somehow, cause of the 02ride case b4 and kokoro back to futoshi in piloting franxx =_= (i still see some people saying that partner shuffle is only temporary and that they'd go back to like b4 meh!) #mitsukokoteamheresorry Too many people said deathflag on this pair /_\

There was an interview with one of the creators(the director, I think) of DarliFra and he said that Ikuno will take a leading role in the near future. I think that the show will not only focus on her inner turmoil regarding her crush on Ichigo. I think that she will pick up on some of Papa's and Werner Franxx's shadiness and comunicate this to her teammates. Maybe she'll even lead a solo investigation(or maybe with Ichigo tagging along because feelings). Idk; what do you think about this?
Nice catch! Ikuno does seem to be one of the more inquisitive members of the bunch, shown by her questioning the mysteriously appearing BBQ in episode 7 for instance.
Since she clearly doesn’t fit into the usual male/female pairing mold, she’s probably been feeling like something was wrong for a while now - maybe not just with herself but with the world around her. She also does a lot of reading, so it’s likely she also has a lot more general knowledge than the others as well. Kokoro was the one asking questions in recent episodes, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Ikuno took the lead in investigating things more thoroughly. The first half of the series focused more on Hiro, Zero Two and Ichigo… now that the triangle has more or less been resolved, this seems like the perfect time to let the less developed characters take center stage.

DITF EP 22 Thoughts/Theories
YASSSS
Ah such a good episode.
You know, I was deff thinking about how Zero Two and Star Entity or whatever were gonna merge or some shit ya knowwww
and here we are, with her mind in battle.
But fuck yes with MitsuKoko!!! I think she's gonna keep the baby maybe or will after she and Mitsuru talk in the next episode because it seems like next episode will finally be the one where they will get their shit squared away, right? I mean it ended with Mitsuru going up to Hiro, flashing at Kokoro so I feel like next episode will be the one to finally have some resolution. So I feel like maybe Kokoro doesn't know wtf to do, and it will be Mitsuru who helps her and reassures her and they figure it out together.
AND FUCK YES NANA IS BACK!!!
AND HACHI IS BECOMING USEFUL!!!! They are going to be the new parents to all the children!! YASSSS
Also the Nines are gonna help kick some assss, good job finally.
So for 23 I think we will get MitsuKoko resolution. Since they need soil from Mistilteinn, I have a feeling they will be going there to collect it, will go to the flower place and hopefully regain some memories!!!! The others will go to space and the fighting will begin. I’m sure Hiro’s horns will have to connect with S.E and then he can save Zero Twos soul that way, maybe?
Ah, when Nana took that step out of her chair I almost cried. I was like FUCK YEA GIRL, FIRST STEPS TOWARDS THE FUTURE!!!!
She is now in the game :)
I love this show. Can’t wait for next week :) <3

Lacking the conflict in anime/manga/VGs: Kishōtenketsu pt2
What makes anime, manga and Japanese video games different from westerner storytelling media? In the previous post I discussed how kishotenketsu structure makes most of endings feel somehow disappointing.
(Check it here if you didn’t read it yet)
Today, let’s talk about the twist.

First, a quick summary on how westerner storytelling works: you introduce something, you add a conflict, you solve it. Someone wins, someone loses.
Easy.
“Young Frodo sets off to defeat Sauron and, after struggling, finally wins and leaves.”
Kishotenketsu doesn’t work like that at all.
No wonder that many people don’t even know where to begin with when explaining to someone an anime/manga/vg plot.
Let’s begin. Imagine riding a roller coaster...
You find a seat and set off. That’s the introduction.
The roller coaster advances, slowly, aiming for the top. The more you rise, the more you feel curious and build up expectations. That is the development.
Finally, the twist. You get on the top of the rail, your cab starts to slide down, it’s so fast, so sudden, you need to keep your breath, you scream, cry.... And it’s over before you realize it.
You conclude as you get down, probably throwing up feeling that one ride was not enough for you.
The incredible thing about Kishotenketsu is that it lacks the conflict. (= Defeat Sauron, you know it from the beginning!) This is is what freaks most westerner scholars out.
KSKT has a complication instead.
->This twist or kekku, is the unbelievable element that is added to the plot. It’s often totally disconnected from what we know about the story so far.
In the following shows, the characters already have their own problems... Yet they are burdened by another issue.( =A complication that occurs at 3/4 of the total plot.)
Kiki’s delivery service: The dirigible Tombo is riding malfunctions and he is in sudden danger.

Fairy Tail: Natsu is not just a dragon, he’s a freaking demon. (WTF!?)
Darling in the Franxx: humans are Earth’s true enemy and they are actually aliens. (WTF!?)

Here’s a trick. When talking about the climax, if you can add “WTF!?” at the end of the sentence, well, then it’s probably kishotenketsu.
Easy as pie.
I always found it funny that Ikeda was able to do this with The Rose Of Versailles as well. The twist there is the French Revolution, which is totally disconnected from the rest of the anime and Oscar’s personal issues. I’ll just cast aside the stupid pun (hi)story, so lame.
Coming up next: KSTK & sequels.
Thanks for reading!
