I’ve gone back and forth in terms of how I wanted to handle incest in this. I’m leaning more towards going about it sort of how it/was historically (and in the asoiaf universe) in sense of being ‘normal’ for royal families at a time. I see a similar doctrine being passed for targaryen exceptionalism. But ‘commoners’ probably find it abnormal. There is constantly this dicotomy of the family in power (whoever they may be) being a symbol of the faith but the Targs in particular indulging in things that go against that. They tread lightly knowing that.

Family dynamics: this is kind of hard bc this depends on what direction I decide to take the succession thing. It can either be like hotd/f&b where as soon as Aegon is born, the expectation would be for him to become king. Or it could be like the actual royal family now (in England) where gender holds little weight. Both could be interesting ideas. If it is the former, we would probably get a similar more tense relationship/divide between nyra and the targtower kids. But the later would be interesting too as nyra being heir and Aegon being her ‘spare’. What does that mean for how people talk about Rhaenyra vs Aegon, especially in a social media era. I did have a fun idea of Rhaenyra essentially stepping down, that ends up being the thing that leads to her and Aegon not being close anymore. Like flipping hotd on its head where they are close but Rhaenyra NOT wanting the crown is the thing that leads to infighting (especially if this is after a cheating scandal 👀). Bc at this point Aegon doesn’t want it either lmao. Or maybe they both want it and try to work through that fact amicably?? Also since this is modern, how to the kids even feel about this. It is not as life or death as it is during hotd, so maybe there isn’t conflict at all 🤷🏽‍♀️. Idk id love to hear feedback on what y’all want to see. I know it is the premise of the show, but even I get tired of the infighting that comes with the dance. So I’d like to hear what dynamic y’all would want

And yeah I’m think of it being westeros but ~modern~. So certain things/concepts from this era/world will be in that world (for example: Nina being an Epidemiologists). Honestly the names of the seven kingdoms are just good name holders. Though once again, this is another detail that could change if I ever write it

I literally don’t know where or who else to ask this so I’m just gonna leave it here. I am looking for a Bellarke (modern au) fic that I lost. It was a fic where Clarke was royalty, a princess or something and Bellamy was her bodyguard, they were having a secret affair and Clarke had to get married to someone else. They continued the affair after the marriage and had kids (boy and a girl) from that affair that they had to say was Clarke’s husbands. The husband was gay and also had a secret bf on the side, also Bellamy resigned to a cottage somewhere and also Bellarke’s kids find out who their dad really is and it’s this whole thing. I think it ends with Bellarke living out the rest of their days in Bellamy’s cottage. I’m not quite sure of the number, but it was multi chapter, maybe 3 or 4?

Some details might not be all that accurate, but I’ve been going crazy trying to remember/find this fic, someone please help!

Now Thorin becomes a raven by day and Bilbo a raccoon by night so that they can never be together as hobbit and dwarf again unless they fulfill the catastrophic wishes of the curse bearer, whoever he may be…

The Raven Prince- Swan Princess AU; Thorin never gave much thought to his fiancé past how much he didn’t want to have a fiancé, especially not this hobbit. However, after the mysterious death of the Shire Kingdom’s monarchs and Bilbo’s disappearance, Erebor is approached by a sorcerer who flexes his power and influence on Thorin. Now he’s a raven and he must somehow save Bilbo, save his kingdom, and get his father’s blessing before it’s too late.

An Unexpected Gift on a Journey to You- Dwobbit Frodo; Bilbo went back to the Shire, and Thorin couldn’t necessarily blame him. However, eight years later, he starts to miss what once was and what could be and decides to journey to the Shire to plead forgiveness. Only problem, Bilbo supposedly had left for Erebor months before. Why had he not made it? Where was their former burglar? And what was with this little hobbit child who supposedly had been living with Bilbo?

In a Garden of Dreams, I Plant Memories- Afterlife AU; Bilbo had received a high honor. He was the gardener. Every morning, he would go out and tend to the souls planted in his garden, listening to their dreams and helping them to grow. One morning, he went out and found something different. A dwarf waiting for him who seemed to believe he had known him long ago.

Lois Lane Had It Easy- Superhero AU; Bilbo is an insurance claims adjuster who always seems to find himself in some sort of predicament thanks to their local superhero and supervillains. The various attempts on his life would be bad enough, but Bilbo seems to have somehow offended their hero, Oakenshield, as he practically ignores Bilbo leaving him to save himself every time. Perhaps it was the infatuation talking, but Lois Lane definitely had it easy.

Banished and Waiting- Modern Royalty AU; Bilbo had been madly in love with his university boyfriend, even after learning he was in fact the prince of Erebor. However, when he went with Thorin to meet his family, Thrain banished Bilbo behind Thorin's back deeming him not good enough and sent him back to the Shire. Bilbo has been waiting ever since for Thorin to come find him. That was eighteen years ago. Instead, Gandalf was the one to find him and beg him to help him. The King of Erebor's life depends on it.

Untitled AU- Emperor's New Groove AU; Bilbo went back to the Shire much to the Sackville-Baggins displeasure. Lobelia sent Otho after a trader for a poison to use on Bilbo. However, when they used it Bilbo turned into a ferret instead. Bilbo leads them on a chase determined to get back to the safety of his dwarves, while Lobelia and Otho attempt to finish the job.

SO i will try following this challenge this month! posting for accountability:
