I did vaguely consider getting a switch for botw and totk and also when animal crossing was all the rage in 2020 but i never went through with it because it seemed like it was going to be paying a lot of money to worsen my arm and wrist issues. But i just learned that ogata megumi is in at least two switch only otome games as love interests and i have a burning need to hear what kind of voice she uses for a, and pardon my language, smexy bishie. Im not going to do it. I shouldn't. But i really freaking want to. Im definitely getting a switch 2 at this rate. Ive been away from the lethal clutches of otome games for too long, and im only now learning that the switch was the platform of choice to succeed the ps vita. I love the CRUFT. I love the CHAFF. I need to find out how many things that hosoyan has been since his 2017 hiatus and download all of them in a hyperfixated daze. I need to know if ichogo miruku sensei has been working since i last looked.

I mean. I was thinking of spending a couple of hundred on a purse tomorrow because theres going to be easter sales but i don't really need a purse. I also dont need a switch literally days after a switch 2 was announced but like. What if i did. What if i got a switch in 2025 just fot my stupid horny otome games. I just found a mobile game i really wanted to play that ended service in feb of this year and im literally frothing and foaming with rage. This is why all otome games should exclusively be released on the psp. I dont care that its 2025.

lissie: @s3onghwaswifey brought up an interesting comment on how "it's not an idol's job to care about if a fan is horny" so i'm here to elaborate because i did mention in the same paragraph about their marketing strategy

will be a long post, not proofread, and i can use the things i learned in my business major for this (eyy!)

essentially, it comes to these three things: customer behavior, marketing strategy, and corporate sustainability

will be using hybe and kq as i am a ateez, txt, and enhypen-centric blog as examples (but i will also use sm and jyp cause they have their csr, vision, and mission public)

before we get into it, let me break your mind with this revelation:

idols = employees

why? if you strip away the glitz and glamor of idols and their artistry, they're essentially a contractual full-time employee of their agencies. their task is to be the face of the company and bring back revenues with their talents and looks. every celebrity and musician you know (if they're not 100% independent) are employees of their management so long as you know they have a contract with them.

every company has its stakeholders (a person or entity with an interest or concern in something, usually in business context) and these include: investors, employees, government, and customers > which are the fans and other people who consume the product/content that they're making with their idols and more. but what i want to highlight is that the company priorities two stakeholders who i consider their moneymakers:

investors: for those who believe in the companies' values and objectives that they invest money to see them grow; and

customers: the people/entity that wants to receive the value they have (this means euphoria, satisfaction, good music to listen, good personality to watch, and yes, even to be horny) and they're willing to compensate for that through free mouth-to-mouth marketing or money

i. customer behavior

since we focus on the customer (aka fans), we have to analyze what is the common fan behavior in the kpop fandom in tumblr (particularly ateez, txt, and enhypen since we're focusing on them.)

let's start with this: a comparison between sfw and nsfw fanfic content between the three of them (which one is more followed, which one has the most engagement) as of me writing this.

#ateez smut has 13k followers with the top post having around 5700 notes

#enhypen smut has 12k followers with the top post having around 5300 notes

#txt smut has 8k followers with the top post having around 4400 notes

(these doesn't include hard hours and hard thoughts tag numbers)

what's the number for sfw tags?

#ateez: fluff (4.4k), angst (2.1k), x reader (7.8k), imagines (7.2k)

#enhypen: fluff (5.3k), angst (2.4k), x reader (7.2k), imagines (7.3k)

#txt: fluff (3.1k), angst (1.3k), x reader (5.3k), imagines (4.5k)

what can we conclude: people are seeking to read smut more than sfw fics

"but this is tumblr only" no, it's not. with that, we're comparing streams between their sexy songs and non-sexy title tracks of the same era/year on spotify

ateez: sexy: inception (2020): 68 million deja vu (2021): 88 million non-sexy: thanxx (2020): 48 million eternal sunshine (2021): 16 million

txt (only using the name: temptation cause that's the openly "sexy" concept they have) sexy: tinnitus (b-side): 111 million non-sexy: sugar rush ride (title track with sexual innuendos): 159 million devil by the window (b-side): 61 million [notice how close tinnitus is to sugar rush ride than the second streamed b-side on the ep]

enhypen sexy: fever (2021): 311 million bite me (may 2023): 213 million (average per month as of feb '24: 23 million) non-sexy: drunk-dazed (2021): 266 million sweet venom (2023): 50 million (average per month as of feb '24: 16 million)

to conclude: sexy songs are streamed more compared to the songs released around/at the same year/era

i haven't include the fan-edit tiktoks and more but then we can see how the company react by looking at their...

ii. marketing strategy

i found this incredible theses on gender roles within kpop which you can read more. but what i want to highlight based on what i read is: the company knows what they're doing. they're playing on the idea of male gaze and female gaze. they're also paying attention to the tween and teen markets because they have their parents' money to buy them stuff.

and just like drugs, you have to give them little by little until they want *more*. just like idols teasing their abdomens, having sexy eyes, and even the sweet interaction you have irl when they smile for you or the words they say during fansigns, to then doing sexy concepts and full-on grinding on the freaking stage. all in a way to keep the fans they made within the fandom, but also thirst trap the new ones to join, and those tween and teens don't know any better cause they're kids ffs. if adults can be manipulated, so they can.

and what does the company give in return for the reaction of the stats we have seen?

this, this, and this

the companies know their shit by green lighting them KNOWING that they might have fans on the younger side. they know that this could bring them exposure = engagement = revenue.

iii. corporate sustainability

it is defined as the management of environmental, social and financial concerns by a company to ensure responsible, ethical and ongoing success in a long-run.

i bolded responsible, who are they responsible too? their stakeholders. and who are included in the stakeholders? customers. FANS. it shows that fans are to be analyze and govern so the company can give what they want and they will get something they will want in return; in this case, it's the revenue. and who are responsible for bringing that? the employees and it includes the IDOLS.

since big4 are the lighthouses of the kpop industry, we will examine their sustainability management (minus yg cause they don't have one even as a publicly-traded company and jyp who hasn't ) and also, corporate sustainability will also use the term "esg" (environmental, social, and governance) as it is the core team of that could make their business sustainable into the future.

hybe: in page 29, we can the esg goals and values. the goal that i wanted to highlight is

THINK FORWARD FOR FAN’S LIFESTYLE -Enhancing the fan experience with green material merchandise and albums -Developing Weverse-based customer convenience services -Enhancing fan accessibility to content and concert venues

and they also have a value to be fan-centric.

they have fans as first mentioned in this slide, for goodness sake. what do you mean by "they don't care"? :(

read more on what they want to do to enhance the fan experience from page 38. the pdf is downloadable in the link at the start of the section.

sm: the same with hybe, they have customer value as one of their main priorities (page 17)

they also put customers first in the stakeholder priority, with the same making quality content and gaining customer satisfaction

jyp: different from the others, jyp focuses more in maintain sustainability internally within the business for the esg goals and they focus more on the idols' ability and talent (one of the reasons i realize that jyp artists still have good ties with the companies even if they have separated)

but they still have customer as number one on the stakeholder engagement and a very interesting point i want to highlight is "fostering artists with competency and good personality" in order to "engage with and listen to the customers"

what can we get from this: kpop companies has to cater towards the fans cause they are their #1 stakeholder. the main priority to get the business going. and with a good marketing strategy catering to what the fans want (sexy content), it effects the younger ones that they may fell out of the radar for them cause they want to cater the majority of the fans who are in their late teens and young adulthood

so the timeline is as follows: kpop companies has to satisfy what fans want > by analysis, they see that majority of fans like sexy concept > they adjust their marketing, brand, and product strategy to cater towards those fans > sexy concepts that entice fans including the younger ones > they consume smut because they have to imagine to "get the real thing" > repeat from start

so, yes. i'm blaming the company for not being great at cutting their market into segments. for me, a good marketing plan is where they know the targets that they focus on like newjeans who focuses more on the social media-late gen z. while, many of the kpop group units are adapting towards what the market demands, not knowing that they caused a collateral damage in order to gain more revenue.

but do i blame the idols? yes and no.

yes? the idol signed that contract in the first place. they are obliged to follow what the management wants. it takes time for a company value to be ingrained into someone's mindset and they know what they're doing because they will get benefit of that hard work. in a way, they have to fulfill what the fans wants because it's a way for them to get their monetary benefit and to thank them for being lift up from hardship. they are complicit.

but, you also say no? yup, because they are complicit with no other choice. i have heard horror stories of kpop idols debuting young and i can't comprehend what they've faced during their career. they don't have the control to create what they want unless the management trust them. sure, ateez create their own songs but do they create their own choreography? they have freedom but it is limited. maybe, they don't even want to cater to what the fans wants but they have to because of contractual pressure, financial problems, and more (linking stellar's story for a deeper explanation)

there is a point in holding your idols and their companies accountable (with a reasonable data): because without us, they might go bankrupt. we have the power to bring them down or rise them up.

sure, i didn't dive deep into the fans side of it. but the commenter agrees with me that minors shouldn't read smut and that's that.

also, there are more mature concept than sexy, take cix's numb and jungle for examples. and there are 30+ year old men who still has bright, mature concepts, like super junior's house party! so that doesn't mean that older = sexier.

i’ll be trying my best too actually cut down smut fics on my roster n i have a few wips that seems great for that, especially those who are more story-rich like the trainee riki fic and we are dreamers to the family mystery jay fic and the undertale enha maknae line fic. also, i’m kinda sad and concerned that only fics that are tagged smut have the numbers, makes me wonder: where did all of these peeps come from?

(also, can’t believe that there are more enhypen smut readers than ateez smut readers. pretty messed up imo n makes me wanna tackle belift more for the boys’ portrayals that made it like this)

HYUK DAZED FEBRUARY 2020 INTERVIEW

How was the shoot today?

It’s my first official schedule of 2020, so it was exciting. It sort of felt like waking up from hibernation.

What season do you like the best?

Winter. Since winter will be over soon, each day is precious. (laughs)

Which season do you think suits your voice the best?

I’m not sure, I don’t think it would be summer or winter. So then I guess it has to be either winter or spring?

Last December with the release of “Winter Butterfly,” you finished your <Four Seasons Project>. Was there a reason you released solo songs based on the seasons?

I wanted to communicate with my fans. There are many various ways to meet fans. I thought the way that I can express myself the most sincerely is through music. When I released a song every season, I was able to continuously communicate with the fans for a year.

All the songs are self-composed. When did you start writing songs?

My first self-composed song was “I’ll Hold You.” It was a song I only released online through SoundCloud and Youtube, but luckily a lot of fans liked it. When I listen to my songs, I get excited about composing.

When you’re composing, where do you get your inspiration?

Dramas and movies. After my acting debut, it can also come from the messages and the lingering motives from productions. After I watched the tvN drama <Mister Sunshine,> I wrote my song for summer last year, ‘Way to You.’  In the show, Yoojin, Dongmae, and Heesung all love Aeshin. It’s a love that can’t come true, but all three people want to go towards her. From this, there is the motive ‘the road to you will be my road, my end is you’ and this unfolded into the words to the song. Blindly longing for someone will eventually be a difficult thing.

It’s already been 9 years since your debut. If you look back at the 2010s, what do you think?

In 10 years, of course things change. (laughs) This year, only half of my 20s are left. If I look back, I think that it passed while working really hard.

What do the words “working hard” mean to you?

After I went through a short training period and debuted, I felt a compulsion and pressure that I had to practice more than the other members, so it was hard. I thought that I couldn’t be a nuisance to the members, so after our schedules were over, I headed to the practice room. Even after debut, for 5 years I went to the practice room everyday. Even when I was resting, it was comfortable to rest in the practice room. (laughs) But at some point, it surpassed “effort” and ate away at me. It seemed like it was making even the people around me exhausted and tired. But I would never think that time was bad. It’s just, I lived in that way, so for my remaining 20s, I resolved to live in a different way, more freely.

Looking at previous media and interviews you’ve done, you said you didn’t have certainty or confidence as an artist until 2017. You seem pretty much the same.

Yes, but now I’ve become more relaxed. The biggest difference is that whatever I do, I’ve gained confidence in the things I do myself. Even if I make mistakes, I acknowledge them, and because I can accept them, it puts me at ease. While I’m trying to make music or acting, I’m not really indecisive and I don’t hesitate a lot.

Is it thanks to that? A little while ago, you held your first solo concert. How did it feel to be on stage for over 2 hours by yourself?

Really, I’m comfortable when I’m on stage. Actually, it was hard when I was preparing and practicing for the concert. It can be too much and overwhelming (with emotion). A lot of feelings come and go, but when the show starts and I sing, those sorts of thoughts disappear. The time spent together with the audience, that is happy.

When you do full-scale solo promotions, is there something that’s musically different from previous promotions?

With the group VIXX, because we show a conceptual and active performance, I wanted to show an image opposite to that. Comfortable, calm, healing music. Now, I’m trying to catch both of the rabbits!* (laughs)

T/N: This is a kind of Korean phrase that refers to when someone is trying to do many things. So on top of doing the high concept and energy of VIXX, he is also doing calm and quiet music.

You mentioned it a little bit ago. You can’t leave out the stories in acting. When you are both an actor and a singer, there must be some positives and negatives.

When you’re acting, you need a wide range of experiences. While I was an idol, I was accustomed to restraining myself. It was difficult, but now I’m trying to shed that off. At the same time, I think I can express my emotions more freely than before. Before, singing on stage, even if I was so overwhelmed I could die, I hid it, but now I express that. Looking at it like that, I think the stages (I do) have become more rich and have more sincerity.

Acting and singing, using both of these talents, you have taken up the challenge this time of becoming a musical actor. Your first show <The Eyes of Dawn>, doesn’t have much time left before it opens.

From the Japanese occupation to the division of North Korea, this is a production with a distinct narration with the historical pain of a nation. It’s our history, and if we go a little forward, it’s my story. So I was able to immerse myself better. Actually, before I picked this show, I considered the influence of it and how it could make the fans who came to see me aware of some historical facts. Young fans, foreign fans, people of various ages and races, people that could learn the facts of our history. I thought if only I do well, it could be a good opportunity for everyone.

By the time this musical is finished, it’ll be spring. This coming spring, is there a place you would like to travel to?

Incheon, Ganghwa or a quiet domestic place like Gangnam, Namhae. Make a plan that’s enough for about a week, and I want to just stay in a quiet and cozy place. Just like a resident! (laughs).

It’s the start of 2020, so I’ll ask. As an artist, until where do you think Han Sanghyuk will go?

Of the emotions and messages that I want to express, one point where I can make some sort of outcome is now I really want to become an ‘artist.’ I’m not sure what sort of modifiers I should attach to the word ‘artist,’ but I guess that will depend on what I do, right? (laughs)

As we build up towards the release of HS3, I wanted to set out what has gone before and what Harry has already said - basically so when the inevitable happens we can try it make sense of what they are trying to sell us!

Recorded in chunks LA and Jamaica 2016. Before and after Dunkirk.

Narratives - ha*lor, Kendall, Townes all as part of RS interview and Apple documentary. He talked about Townes for apple and the today show and in a crazy turn of events, was able to use the lyric for the song about her finding out he wrote the song! Amazing!The Kendall one they even brought back just as he went to Jamaica to record (literally two days before) Harry went on to say it wasn’t about a women but about himself. There was a book about pride and Harry wearing a dress in the album artwork. Also note, for SOTT promo which included RS, he posted the milkshake tweet not long after the article was released.

Plus papped with the chef the week of album release (lol) complete with shared Gucci shirt and photo from the kitchen of Erskine House. She posted on the day of his london show herself outside his house in a very distinctive jacket … which she then wore to the show. This was quickly walked back “he only met her a couple of times” and in came CR. In time for Dunkirk promo and then tour - lasting exactly one year.

Fine Line (Dec 2019)

Recorded during tour (according to post it’s) WS, Cherry, FL; in Malibu (Sept 2018) golden, falling and in Bath (Spring 2019) TPWK, Adore You, LU. How he wrote a break up song on tour… well 😝 also just to note CR had a documentary with her in it called cherry and she posted a pic of herself in the “canyon” and wearing cherry earrings - handy.

Lead single LU released on International Coming out day (Oct 2019) discussing themes of acceptance and the MV including both men and women.

Then Another RS interview, this time with Kid Harpoon dishing up the gf stories sold as about having sex and feeling sad - a heartbreak album with clear ref to CR and Harry referring to his “ex gf” for the apple interview (rare for him to use this wording) just to hammer it home, a voice note of her voice included and a pineapple on the artwork (she has a pineapple on her IG profile and a pineapple ass tattoo) on the CD the liner notes say it was included “with her permission”. This is omitted on the vinyl. In an interview she denied knowing. He was seen with her in the May showing her something on his phone. And after a year of it being missing, her ring and cardigan reappeared in time for promo … which is lucky as there is a line in a song about wearing her clothes. 🤪 Promo also included interviews where he talked about his sexuality and gender and dress pics/beauty papers and the SNL Sara Lee sketch. Liner notes included a pride flag in the studio and Harry wearing a shirt about blowjobs.

So. HS3 rumour has it will be Friday 12th Feb. Expect a single in January. With the cancelled Miami show and the Italy stunt it looks like they are carrying on keeping his name in the headlines before the launch- text book winter gf stuff - complete with insiders talking to People and US weekly.

Harry has said he was working during lockdown 1. He was seen at the same FL studio in Bath Aug 2020.

Kid Harpoon said early 2021 that not much had been written. The Sun, in autumn 2021, had articles about it being released “imminently” which was then denied - suggesting it wasn’t yet finished.

Harry arrived in LA mid July after MP filming and the Italy trip and was seen in a studio and with Tyler Johnson (place your bets that he is in the RS interview this time) before then doing the pleasing shoot and tour rehearsals (leaving not loads of time to record an album?)

In Dazed, interview done sept and at the Boston show, Harry said he’d assumed he wouldn’t do any writing while filming and yet he found that exploring the characters on screen helped him to see life through the “lens” of other people and he wrote loads. (Can we expect to see songs written through the lens of Tom - a closeted man who has to hide his love and pretend to love a woman??????) Dazed also continued the conversation about identity, the binary existence and saw him continue to wear what he wants. We also have My Policeman (which is obviously still in post production but will be released in 2022) promo on the horizon.

So what can we expect? I can’t see how there won’t be a narrative around the director. But in Dazed Harry shut down all talk of it (keeping his private life separate to work lol) and she was only allowed to allude to it - with all the subtlety of a baby elephant admittedly- but the reps wouldn’t confirm. Will it be, once again, something for all groups of fans? He’s never actually been in a proper “relationship” during promo. I find it hard to believe, given how it’s gone before, he’d want to talk on camera about it. They must know the fan reaction is VERY mixed. But there will be some hints - Italy? Friends to lovers themed? Settled? Some ref already hinted at? (My money is on board games or something that was on that Bode bag… something totally ham fisted that gives the game away)

Edit to add - Rob Sheffield was at the NYC shows - wouldn’t be surprised if he did an interview then.

It’s also very likely he recorded a Beats interview with Zane Lowe in November in LA (when his mum was around)

When conducting the sm deep dive, there were two photos that stood out, made me go mmmhhh and captured IMHO the ongoing struggles of trying to find freedom and peace for two people who by some random luck of the universe fell madly in love years ago.

T liked this photo. If I recall correctly, doesn’t Pinocchio’s nose grow longer with false statements or lies? It seems like Ts life the last 5 years would include several long noses. I like the addition of the NY baseball cap. This like comes while A and E are in the CIs for NYE; after HFA and Governor’s Awards; and after T and LRD have landed in Paris after Christmas.

T posted this picture in Feb 2020. When I saw it, I immediately thought it captured perfectly the prior four years. Three individuals are entangled in a hot mess and some are trying to get out of it. I like the subtle reference to the ARMY uniform. This was posted when A was in Chicago practicing for The Minutes and longing for T; T had also posted the picture of himself in the DAZED corset the same day; and E was in LA promoting her Valentine’s Day gift guide.

It was simple task, take this bag of concealed mysterious objects and go hide it. An easy, average task that the hooded figures would give her.

She could portal to a far residing deep base that few would ever access, let alone look for a strange sack in. It was as good as done, with the figures bidding a good job and farewell. She turned and prepared to leave this old abandoned structure, summoning her magic, having a purple glow over take the room.

She felt a tickle of guilt in the back of her skull, reminded of that time a sweet group of girls had tried to persuade her against doing just this, against helping these people who always had strange tasks at her ready. They were apparently doing something bad; and these girls wanted her to join them, to help find her true self.

But that is why she is here. She is looking for her home on her own, on her terms. She could never allow herself to interrupt such a priceless Family that those girls were, she could never mesh in with others like that.

Not that it mattered. It doesn’t matter, she has a task to do. These people give her crumbs that her true place will be found, and until then she can float by on task and task. She will find it one day, she has to. It can never be by shoving herself into another family in which she has no role in, in which she does not deserve.

Quickly, the girl hurried into the space-collapsing portal, ready to hide the yet another random concealed object. Nobody will find it, this will be easy. She can do this even with the daze of her mind fogging the importance of it, but she knows that any step more is a step closer to finding her true place.

Shizuku was honestly my first favourite maguca from Magia Record. One of the first girls I’ve even seen or got- I fell in love with her design immediately. The perfect lovely (and may i say uncommon for magucas) lilac colour-scheme, the rad as pie scarf thingy, the fact she has shorts rather than a dress or skirt, a “traveler’ motif, and her lovely dynamically spiked short hair was just *chef kiss*

I adored her personality from the get-go too; how she is soft spoken and calm but actually internally constantly frets over how the world doesn't feel right to her, how its all foggy and depersonalized to her. It gave a connection to her, relatability. The poor girl obviously has some sort of form of depersonalization and depression, and it made her feel much deeper than some other characters and her surface “cool” impression. Shes struggling cause of mental illness and it makes the world feel off to her, like she doesn't fit properly, and heck can i understand that.

Also, she may not be that strong in-game, but her lore powers are just so cool! the power of teleportation and collapsing space to travel between points? Like can you seriously get any radder than that?? She traveled the whole world just cause she could for petes sake! Thats simply a dream power right there.

Plus theres the bonus that she works at a cafe, a calm, low energy, sweet place. I wanna go there and have tea and hang out with my friends, yanno?

So yea, while there are many other choices i could've picked, such as even the good Madoka ( who IS a high favourite just saying), i feel particularly for magia’s Shizuku darling
