Note
I desperately need like a post with several links explaining this AU to me i love it i go crazy when i don't know every little detail about everything XD
BHAHAHHAHSHS thank you so much for showing a lot of interest for it!! I’ll try my best to piece things together, since this AU is still very much in the works and unorganized as well:
Summary:
When Jason Blood, an immortal man cursed to exist with a demon named Etrigan sealed inside, finds himself stuck with a seemingly living cartoon boy and cat (both who seem to have amnesia/doubts about their origins), he finds that there is more to uncover in a deep inkwell of mystery and terror.
Backstory:
I created this AU about 2-3 years ago when I was feeling down in the low for some time, starting off with a silly doodle. But then, the passion grew, and so did this AU! Mainly, I wanted to mash up two hyperfixations of mine, Klarion the Witch Boy from DC and Bendy and the Ink Machine/Bendy and the Dark Revival. From there, it evolved more into its own twisted thing. ✨
Details:
As of now, I would suggest looking through the #inbox ✉️ tag on this blog to see more specific details, lol, as they’re like lil’ side excursions from the main plot (any post with #comics💥). For now, here’s a summary of the main things so far:
Klarion and Teekl have always believed they were cartoon characters.
Jason and Etrigan (at the moment) do not get along for obvious reasons, which leads to Jason not using the chant for a while and trying to handle almost everything on his own.
1928 is an important date in this AU.
‘Lacuna’ is a different universe/dimension that Klarion and Teekl crossed over from through the television set in Jason’s living room.
The current ‘Big Bads’ right now are Morgan Le Fey and her ever-growing cult, who plans to take over the globe and become the ‘True Queen of Magic’, with Jason and Etrigan (her oldest enemies) to be the first to experience her wrath.
Hopefully this helps!! Thanks again!!

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Morgaine le Fey
A powerful and evil sorceress hailing from mythical era of medieval Brittany, Morgaine le Fey was the half-sister of King Arthur and one time student of Merlin. Twisted by power and ambition, Morgaine's singular goal was to put her son Mordred on the throne of Camelot (and by extension, the world).  This was a quest that she worked ceaselessly toward for centuries to fulfill.  Her magic has maintained her youth over the years, although she frequently needs to siphon the life essence from victims so to stave off old age.  She always keeps her face hidden behind a golden mask, unwilling to let anyone see her great beauty marred by time.
Morgan and her son re-emerged in the modern era in search of the legendary artifact known as the Philosopher's Stone.  Morgaine believed that this stone, cleverly hidden by Merlin for centuries, would enable her to fulfill her quest on seat her son as ruler of the world.  Her efforts to obtain the stone were combated by the combined efforts of the Justice League and Etrigan the Demon.  Morgaine attempted to entrance J’onn J’onzz, temping him with convincing illusions of his lost wife and children, manipulating the Martian so that he would hand over the stone.  Yet J’onn was ultimately able to resist and her crushed the Philosopher's Stone, dashing Morgaine’s plans and leading her abscond away.
Morgaine would return to once more bedevil the League, although this time she was betrayed by her son Mordred.  She was forced to join forces with the Justice League so to undo the mayhem her son had sewn.
Actress Olivia D'Abo provided the voice for Morgaine le Fey with he sinister sorceress first appearing in the twentieth episodes of the first season of Justice League, ‘A Knight of Shadows.’

Early live action adaptations of Marvel Super villains
So we all know about the big and small screen marvel villains:Your Tom Hiddleston as Lokis ,your Ian Mckellens as Magnetos, your Willem Dafoe Green Goblins....I wanted to see who were the earliest Marvel villains adapted into live action .
Some of these I have seen some I havent .
Rule-
1.Live action villains only
2.Cutoff is 1999,only 20th century baddies here
3.Only villains from the comics ....Though I do have two honurable mentions
Jessica Walter as Morgan Le Fey-Doctor Strange (Still havent seen this but yeah turns out she is the first live action version of a marvel super villain)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John Rhyse Davies as Kingpin -TRial of the Incredible Hulk (A good Kingpin ,goes more for the mastermind side but lacking the imposingness of later versions. Not my favorite Kingpin but John Rhyse Davis is a magnificent actor )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scott Paulin as Red Skull -Captain America (SCott Paulin is great here ,he is a menacing presence and I love his initial design.....Let down by the "Plastic surgery look" he has the ret of the film, also cause the film is bad )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joseph Culp as Doctor Doom -Fantastic Four (DEspite the fact his voice is muffled alot so its hard to understand him,I like how faithful the costume ,I dig the grand gesturing and I love how jovial he is ,hes always laughing bout something ,I think he is my fave of the early Marvel movie villains )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sandra Hess as Andrea Von Strucker /VIper(Combined into one character ),and Peter Haworth as Arnim Zola -Nick Fury (Apparently Baron Von Strucker and Wener Von Stucker are in it too but I couldnt find images. Also I've never finished this movie )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stephen Dorff as DEacon Frost -Blade (DOnt know anything bout his comic counterpart......But I love the movie version of this guy.Love this asshole )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in the "I dont know if this counts "honourable mentions
Brian Thompson as Kabal/Baron Mordo -Doctor Mordrid (SO I have heard from various sources this was either going to be a Doctor Strange movie OR it was inspired by Doctor Strange, either way ,Kabal is a clear stand in for Baron Mordo .Either way film is pretty fun and Brian Thompson is a fun villain )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ian Trigger as the Jeweler/Mole Man-Fantastic Four (This I know for a fact was supposed to be the Mole Man.....But Marvel wouldnt let them use the Mole Man ,so they just called him something else .I do like Ian Triggers performjance, but I feel like they shouldve cut him out OR made him the main villain )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I might do this for 20th century villain DC villains,I dunno this was fun
Do any of you have thoughts on these early Marvel Movie villains?Feel free to share your thoughts

My siblings and I all have gender neutral names (I love my mother) but we are all also named after big media characters (that part was all my bio dad. My older brothers’ names are Ripley (Pterodactyl from Metroid), Harper (Jim Harper/The Guardian, DC), Morgan (Morgan le Fey, Marvel), Spencer (Nathan Spencer, Bionic Commando), and Quinn (Harley Quinn, DC). My baby brother’s name is Avery (Henry Avery, Uncharted) my mom remarried but still kept up tradition. And my name?
It’s Parker. I was named after Peter Parker. I was named after fucking Spider-Man.

How to Play as Morgan le Fey in DnD 5e
Tumblr media
Morgan le Fey just dropped in SMITE, and I’ve had worse excuses to build a character. However, I don’t want to boil her down to just one single source. Morgan has over 800 years of appearances in stories and media to pull from. So, for this build, we’re wanting to explore Morgan’s entire repertoire of appearances in media from her first appearances in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia Regem Britanniea to modern appearances in television, movies, and literature. I have not seen everything she’s ever been in, but we can extrapolate a lot from a cursory glance.
Tumblr media
While Morgan is called Le Fey, I don’t believe it’s ever clearly stated which parent she inherits her fey ancestry from, though it may originate from her mother Igerna, as in the 14th century work of Huon de Bordeaux, King Arthur goes to war with Morgan’s son King Oberon over the realm of the faeries. Igerna being Arthur’s mother and Oberon’s grandmother would explain how both men could have a claim to the throne of Fairyland. It’s possible she’s a water faerie, known in Wales and Breton as Mari-Morgans, which drown men.
Morgan’s first education came from a nunnery where she studied necromancy of all things. Morgan later becomes the young pupil of Merlin, with a deep fascination with magic, and showing tremendous talent for it. She was very studious, exploring astronomy, astrology, and healing. However, she always favored dark powers and malicious intent. Under Merlin’s tutelage, she studied or furthered her knowledge of necromancy, illusions, shapeshifting, charms, enchantments, and hexes. Older good versions of Morgan’s character were far more benevolent, with powers of healing and protection. Malory paints Morgan as a queen among mages and villains, with other nobles seeking Morgan’s help at making other mages and villains fall in line under her authority. Morgan’s primary talent seems to fall into two primary camps: trickery and destructiveness. In older stories, she banks the entirety of her schemes on trickery through charms, illusions, and shapeshifting to mess with people. However, in more modern media, she has grown to favor raw power and destructive shows of force. Morgan is usually considered the greatest enchantress of all time, second only to Merlin in magical power. In some cases, she’s considered more powerful than Merlin, but less skilled than he is.
While modern pop culture makes Morgan out to be Arthur’s nemesis, and the plotting mother of Mordred, she’s actually Mordred’s Aunt by her sister Morgause, and her rivalry is more aimed at Guinevere, which started after she caught Morgan fooling around with Guinevere’s own cousin, Guiomar. Most of her evil schemes involved trying to reveal Lancelot and Guinevere’s adultery to Arthur, though she did also attempt to usurp the throne with her lover, Accolon, and murder her husband, Uriens.
Tumblr media
Although Morgan’s mother Igerna might be part fey, possibly even part of the faerie royal family, Gorlois appears to be a normal human. As such, Morgan is a Half-Elf. She’ll get +2 CHA, +1 INT, +1 CON. We’ll give her Deception and Medicine for her free skills of choice, and Sylvan for her free language of choice.
For her background, we’ll make her a Noble for History and Intimidation. She also gets a free language, and we’ll give her Draconic.
Most iterations of Morgan le Fey makes her Chaotic Evil, as even before she becomes Guinevere’s sworn enemy, she rebels against society and defies her father.
Tumblr media
WIZARD SCHOOL OF WAR MAGIC
I debated which Wizard school was best for Morgan. In her literary origins, she’s a trickster who mostly messes with people. It wasn’t until the pop culture version of her took center stage that she became more of a magical powerhouse. The School of Illusions is the best choice if you want to play up Morgan’s mythical origins as a trickster more, but ultimately nothing is lost by putting more faith in her War Magic. With this, she’s made for the battlefield, as appropriate for a witch who chose to study magic as a weapon. Evocation was a little alluring for increasing the damage of her spells and also causing her to harm herself while overpowering her spells, which feels very true to Morgan’s nature. However, while modern Morgan is power-hungry enough to be an Evocation wizard, it felt disingenuous with mythical Morgan who is far craftier and smart enough to not study a subclass where she could kill herself. Necromancy is being passed over because while it can be VERY good with its life-sustaining properties and empowered undead, it’s highly situational. Although it can provide Morgan with an army of undead thralls if set up right, I tried a level 20 necromancer against a Tarrasque. All of my undead thralls had mundane weapons, and were useless against the threat. Short of buying magical weapons for the entire army, there’s no way to really make Necromancy useful against high power enemies. If you have the patience and funds however to buy and carry around an army’s worth of magical weapons to arm your thralls with, then the Necromancy Wizard becomes a lot more viable, as a legion of skeletal archers can help Morgan slay a dragon, or any other foe that gets in her way.

These spells can be cast at 1st level without using any spell slots. Tactical Wit: Add your INT mod to your Initiative rolls.
Tumblr media
All things considered, Morgan emerges as a rather fearsome battle mage. Admittedly, she would benefit from a maximum Dexterity, but for what we have, she’s pretty well-stocked for battle. If she can get her hands on a Robe of the Archmagi, or a good Barrier Tattoo, it would really help boost her AC. You could also take a 1 level dip into Monk if you’re really desperate, but all you’d get for it is +1 to your AC, so it’s hardly worth it. Still, if you can get her some Rings of Protection or Cloak of Protection, or an Amulet of Health so you can focus her ASI on DEX, it would really help Morgan’s Arcane Deflection spend more time deflecting rather than not. Even though she’s neither a Necromancy or Illusion Wizard, I still stayed true to her character by giving her a wide selection of Necromancy and Illusion spells to stay true to her origins as a dark sorceress. Honestly, her stats are the only thing that I feel don’t live up to the hype, as I built her to be in character and less for power-building. But a few tweaks to the stats to really get good use out of her stats, and give her spell mastery over a concentration spell and/or shield, and her AC will be pretty much permanently better. She may not be the most terrifyingly powerful mage build ever created, but at the very least, she’s a force to be reckoned with, and that’s the real prize we were after. So sally forth and don’t stop until you’ve successfully usurped your bastard half-brother.

Thank goodness I'm not on Twitter to see people melting down over the ep. The Lena thing was a weird turn, but I loved it for the crazy. I have to assume they did it on purpose to appeal to Merlin fans or something. Like, Morgan le Fey is a DC character. They should totally go for it.
lol oh it wasn’t just twitter. tumblr has been a hilarious mix of “oh my god what was that chaos i lOVE IT???” and “oh my god how dare they disrespect my fave”
did not know morgan le fey had made any comic book appearances! hilarious, excellent.

Essential Avengers: Avengers #242: “EASY COME... EASY GO!”
Tumblr media
April, 1984
“Okay Avengers, the party’s over!”
Being a buzzkill, party-hating Cover Vision!
Hmm. Something about this cover makes it feel like from an older era. The returned Mighty Avengers logo or maybe the inking? Or perhaps the Silver Age DC superdickery energy to it? I can’t put my finger on it but this feels like a cover you’d see in the 70s instead of the 80s.
Last time on Avengers: Well, they went to San Francisco for a two-parter where they fought Morgan Le Fey to save Jessica Drew’s soul. As ya do.
Vision has also been a tube boy after he walked into a null field. Starfox hooked him up to the Titan supercomputer and that didn’t fix him, it did overclock his robot brain and let him broadcast giant holograms of his own head. That’s almost as good.
This time:
Tumblr media
Some guy: “HOLY GEEZ!”
An interesting note, this guy has only ever seen Quinjets in pictures and never thought he’d see one in person. Tells you how often the Avengers hang around Ottumwa, Iowa.
We start with the Avengers in mid-return from California.
In one of the Quinjets, She-Hulk is telling Starfox that she wished they could have spent more time before returning to New York so she could have shown him LA.
Starfox: “Ah, well... I’m sure another opportunity will present itself, She-Hulk! Besides, the scenery around her has plenty to offer!”
Tumblr media
Wanda looks like she’s trying to astral project away from Starfox putting his hand on her shoulder but she’s really just distracted thinking about Vision.
The Avengers on the Jessica Drew mission radioed back to the Mansion that they were bringing Hank Pym home but Wanda suggested that Hank could examine Vision and maybe fix him. But Vision rejected the idea and Wanda is at a loss for why he’s determined to overcome his robo-paralysis on his own.
I’m also a little confused why they didn’t call on Hank Pym sooner to examine tube Vision but then again that would have been super awkward for Wasp and Reed Richards, that hack, said Vision should have recovered quickly.
Speaking of super awkward, Hank and Wasp are alone together in the other Quinjet.
Hank is also baffled that Vision turned down his help. He repaired him once before! Remember? He got super tiny and had a fantastic voyage inside him? In Avengers #93?
Jan comments that she hasn’t heard Hank sound so confident in years and he confirms that devoting his time fully to SCIENCE and taking superheroing off the table as an option has done wonders for his emotional outlook.
He also reiterates that he never felt cut out for the superhero life. Aw, enjoy it while it lasts, bud.
And he thanks her for calling him Hank instead of “Dr. Pym” like she did at the hospital.
Tumblr media
Wasp: “Oh... That. Well, when you flew out at my request to help save Jessica Drew’s life... after all we’d been through... the divorce and all... I’m afraid I slipped into my stuffy Avengers chairwoman voice. I thought it might make things easier, but it didn’t... For either of us. I’m sorry, Hank.”
Hank Pym: “That’s okay, Jan. I understand. Your ‘stuffy chairwoman voice,’ huh? Heh-heh. How often do you have to use that?”
Wasp: “Wellll... Most of the time the others will go along with ol’ ‘dingaling Jan’ -- but sometimes, I have to get tough. That never fails to grab their attention!”
Hank Pym: “No doubt! Once, I was the only Avenger who knew how tough you really were! I’m glad the others are learning.”
Wasp: “I guess that none of us are ever too old to learn, Hank.”
Feels like Hank is rewriting some things in his memories since Jan often had to diminish herself to make him feel better but then again it didn’t always work so maybe the idea is that he knew all along how strong she was?
Either way, nice to see these two interacting so amiably.
Also, I like that she’s able to be an effective leader while still being ‘dingaling Jan’ since it doesn’t change how smart and capable she is. And the contrast if she has to get serious only helps.
I think overall I like that her leadership style is so uniquely her and that when her character was retrofitted to operate outside of being ‘Hank Pym’s partner’ she still remained recognizably her.
We have a whopping several women on the Avengers at this time (glorious) and Wasp, She-Hulk, Scarlet Witch, and Captain Marvel all feel like different characters.
Since Vision declined Hank Pym’s help, Wasp drops him off back home in Central Indiana.
Once these two were husband and wife, friends and lovers. But they were very different people and, without meaning to, they hurt each other very much. Today, they have perhaps put a small bit of that hurt behind them. Today, they have again become friends.
Daaaaw. Friends.
Wasp returns to Avengers Mansion to discover there’s a full-on party going on. There’s even streamers and a Captain America who seems incredibly enthusiastic about streamers.
Tumblr media
(In another fun bit, Monica knew about the party already because she flew ahead to the mansion before joining Wasp in the Quinjet after she dropped off Hank. And she was bursting to not tell Wasp what was going on as they landed.)
Wasp is even more surprised when she learns that the party is celebrating Hawkeye’s marriage.
Wasp: “Barton? You mean Hawkeye? Married?!?”
Hawkeye: “‘Fraid so, Jan! I’d like you to meet my bride... Mockingbird.”
Mockingbird: “How do you do?”
Wasp: “Oh... fine. You’ll have to excuse me. This is... quite a surprise.”
A reaction that Mockingbird says she’s getting used to because she’s seeing it from all of Hawkeye’s friends!
Hah!
Hawkeye asks Cap on the sly whether he made the right move, getting married, but Cap is very supportive, saying its the most responsible thing he’s ever done.
Hawkeye: “What?! Cap, you cut me to the quick! Haven’t I always acted in a mature, responsible manner?”
She-Hulk: “Look who’s talking... the man whose proudest achievement is the invention of the water-balloon arrow!”
Provided She-Hulk isn’t just making stuff up, there’s some serious off-screen shenanigans that we didn’t get to see, possibly involving Hawkeye shooting water balloons at She-Hulk all day.
But... CLINT. YOU INVENTED AN ANTI-GRAVITY ARROW!
Why am I the only one who remembers that?
Thor shows up at the party next, back from his own solo adventures, and offers his own congratulations to Hawkeye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mockingbird is undergoing some culture shock here, as she’s astounded that Hawkeye calls Thor “Goldilocks.” And when Thor turns his Thor charm on her, and blesses their wedding, she’s rendered briefly speechless.
Its fun that we get this side of her. I think she was similarly blown away when they met Cap on the subway.
But even though she was a SHIELD agent and then a freelance superhero, she doesn’t seem to have a lot of exposure to your Avengers types so Hawkeye pulling her into those social circles is a lot of fun.
She’s going to get used to it though. I know that she Avenges herself in the future.
Also, look at Thor’s flagon of mead. Holy shit. Its as big as his whole torso.
Jarvis is really dedicated!
Over in a quiet corner of the party, Wanda tries to convince Vision to let Hank Pym take a look at him but Vision dismisses the idea.
Vison: “Please, Wanda, let’s not spoil this happy occasion! Surprise parties are all too rare, and few of them are party to as many surprises as this one!”
And instead of explaining what he means, he turns his hologram off.
Well, okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AH HA HE WAS REPAIRED AND JUST DIDN’T MENTION
For reasons of surprise.
What a whimsical turn for the Vision.
Aw, that panel of them kissing and everyone cheering is sweet. That’s how I like to remember them. Not, err, later developments.
(I also like Mockingbird being confused whether or not he’s still a hologram because of his intangibility)
Everyone congratulates Vision for being bipedal again.
Vision: “It’s good to be moving, Jan. But my recovery shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise. As I told you a few days ago, it was just a matter of time before I isolated the cause of my body’s motor dysfunctions -- and initiated the proper repair systems.”
But he tosses some sweet cred to Starfox, for hooking up to an alien supercomputer. It’s like matchmaking but with networks.
The surprise of his surprise recovery pales compared to his next surprise, as he announces (without consulting Wanda at all, geez) that its imperative that she and him stay with the Avengers full-time.
All I’m saying is communication is important, Vizh.
And maybe you should have brought this up with Wasp too? She is the chairwoman and as Cap points out, the team is already pretty packed, especially with Hawkeye and Thor back.
Vision: “Yes, the ‘chairman’s privilege’ limit! But you’re not the leader now, Cap... the Wasp is! And she’ll just have to change that limit -- or the membership roster -- to include Wanda and myself! We will be needed in the upcoming emergency!”
Kinda dropping a lot of surprises on this surprise party, Vision! I don’t know if you really get the concept wholly? You’re not supposed to save up all the surprises for this one day.
Also, Vision’s speech bubbles have changed. They’re still rounded rectangles but they’re not yellow anymore and the font is a bit italicized. Hm. Wonder if that means anything.
Anyway, Vision announces that while he was a tube boy, he detected two major fluctuations of Earth’s electromagnetic fields by some “unknown energy of near-infinite power.”
He’s secretly been working with Reed Richards on this and neither of them have been able to track down what this nonsense is. But until this malevolent mystery is uncovered, he and Wanda as two of the more powerful reservists must obviously be active Avengers.
But how does he know its malevolent if he hasn’t been able to uncover what it is? Deductive reasoning and intuitive presentiment!
Tumblr media
Pffffft.
I think this might be my favorite recent punchline from this book.
But Vision has more than just bad vibes to be given a frighten by this upcoming ominousness!
Vision: “The energy I detected goes beyond the limits of any known to man! The power flux showed on our screens for a mere fraction of a second, and then disappeared without a single trace. That concerns me... And it should concern all of us! If we cannot discover the source of this energy, there could be catastrophic consequences!”
And to show how seriously he’s taking this, he makes this horrifying face.
Tumblr media
He looks like he’s trying to eat Wasp.
I do not care for this. Either the specific panel or the overall idea of someone eating Wasp.
Anyway, Vision and Scarlet Witch goes off to check the super advanced equipment he installed in the monitor room without asking anyone. He’s doing that a lot lately.
Wasp is both annoyed that he went over her head and impressed with his initiative in doing so.
But she has other matters to attend and asks Thor and Cap(tain America) head down for a private meeting with her.
And now the party is kind of over!
Yeah, you ruined it, Vision! You put too many surprises on the surprise party! You could have saved some for later!
Vision and Scarlet Witch went off to the monitor room. Wasp, Cap(tain America), and Thor went off to have an executive meeting. And Hawkeye and Mockingbird slipped away from their own party not long after that!
Leaving Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Starfox, and Jarvis to stand around awkwardly wondering where the party went. They didn’t even cut the cake yet!
Dammit Vision!
Hawkeye snuck out to the garden behind Avengers Mansion that’s been there all along. And Mockingbird followed to see what’s bugging him.
Hawkeye: “I’ve always loved this spot. Great tree, isn’t it? Ya know, it’s not easy to get an apple tree to grow this big in the city!”
But Mockingbird sees through that and asks what’s really his beef.
Hawkeye: “Aw, it’s just that I can see another membership shuffle in the works!”
Mockingbird: “So?”
Hawkeye: “So, I’m the one most likely to get bounced!”
Tumblr media
I like the range of Hawkeye emotions here.
Hawkeye says that since he has a life (marriage) outside the Avengers now, he doesn’t mind so much being cut from the team. But if they’re going to be facing the latest and greatest menace of all times, he wants to face it with them!
Mockingbird: “That was pretty profound... for a guy who’s supposed to be a butt-head!”
Hawkeye: “Well, thank you, Mrs. Butt-head!”
Aww.
Tumblr media
This is a fun bit too.
Mockingbird asks if Hawkeye wants to go inside and get some cake but he shoots an apple from the tree and offers Mockingbird one.
Pretty slick, Clint.
Over at the monitor room, Vision is really into monitoring whatever is upcoming. Super into it. So Wanda has to ask a question.
Scarlet Witch: “Darling... Are you sure you’re all right?”
Vision: “What sort of question is that?”
Scarlet Witch: “You’ve been acting so peculiar lately!”
Vision: “Wanda, how do you expect me to act? I’ve just recovered from spending what seemed like an eternity in a life support tube, able to move about only as a holographic image! Before that, my body was possessed by the dying sorcerer, Necrodamus. And that was almost immediately after I’d gone through the agony of losing an arm. Thankfully, the Inhuman scientists of Attilan were able to restore my limb. But you must admit we’ve both been through a score of trails these past few months! And now, I’ve detected something which could be the biggest menace we’ve ever faced! All things considered, is it really so surprising that I’m acting this way?”
Tumblr media
Huuuuuh. I mean, he has a point. That’s a lot of shit in a very short time frame to endure.
This could very reasonably be a reaction to it all.
That’s a very unnerving smile though.
Over at the not-secret but private just Wasp, Thor, and Cap(tain America) meeting, Wasp, Thor, and Cap(tain America) are meeting.
Well, really, its more that Thor is recapping the tale of Beta Ray Bill for the other two. But we, the readers, just get an editor’s caption telling us to read Walter Simonson’s Thor (and I don’t need to be told twice) and Thor summing up to the salient point that Donald Blake is gone forever and is definitely never going to come back multiple times.
What Cap takes from this is ‘hey i hope that means you’re back on the team then!’ which Thor affirms.
Thor: “Aye, Captain America! Some of my finest hours have been as an Avenger. It would be the greatest honor to continue my service in your company... if you will have me!
Tumblr media
But Wasp isn’t going to dump Thor from the roster!
Problem being, what the heck is she going to do with the roster? She doesn’t want to dump anyone off it, she doesn’t want to tell Vision to eff off, but she doesn’t want to lead an unwieldy team either. Six is a good number of Avengers!
I love Wasp’s note paper where she’s scrawled various roster ideas, clearly getting more and more frustrated with the exercise.
Cap suggests that maybe a temporary expansion would be the best move, if there even is a menace!
He’s somewhat doubtful of Vision’s story but wouldn’t you know it, as soon as he says that, the priority alarm goes off because Vision has detected the Ominous Energy Readings again.... IN CENTRAL PARK!
And lest anyone doubt Vision this time, an enormous and blinding flash lights up the Manhattan skies.
Cap: “I... believe you, Vision.”
Hah.
The Avengers head for Central Park with devices that Vision has created that will help them trace the energy but he could have saved the time.
Tumblr media
There’s a big obvious structure that wasn’t there before. Odds are pretty good that that’s the anomaly.
Hmmm... Y’know, that structure looks familiar. As if I’ve seen it somewhere... But wheeeeeeeeeerre. I guess its a secret to everyone.
The sudden appearance of a large structure right after a massive flash isn’t even the weirdest thing going on. As Reluctant Science Guy Starfox waves around the detecting device, he realizes that the Ominous energy isn’t coming from the giant structure. It seems to be coming from everywhere. But it dips as you get closer to the structure.
Starfox posits that the energy is being focused on the ring from another location.
Curiouser and curioserer.
The Avengers poke around some more. Hawkeye calls attention to an arch built into the wall of the structure. It’s just real interesting. It’s super, incredibly interesting. Plus, the air is nice in the arch.
And it’s an arch. It looks like it’d be a doorway or tunnel to the middle of the structure but it doesn’t go anywhere.
Huh.
How fascinating.
She-Hulk, Cap(tain America), Captain Marvel, Wasp, and Thor join Hawkeye in the arch and agree that it’s a pretty interesting arch.
Perhaps this arch was made for them.
As soon as they join Hawkeye in it, there’s another blinding flash of light and those Avengers vanish in a curl of smoke.
Tumblr media
Wow.
I can’t believe Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Captains America and Marvel, Wasp and Thor are dead.
Huh. And Wasp was just complaining about having too many Avengers!
Everyone is appropriately shocked by this, especially Vision because there were no energy emissions coming from the thing so it should have been inert.
Scarlet Witch and Starfox wonder whether the missing Avengers have been teleported somewhere, into some other story... or destroyed.
Tumblr media
But before they can investigate the structure for clues, or see if it’ll strike again?, the whole thing vanishes as quickly as it appeared.
The plus side is that it makes Starfox lean toward ‘teleported’ which still doesn’t answer where the Avengers have been taken or who would do it.
If it’s the Collector again, I swear!
Here we go... Follow @essential-avengers because I thought I had more time! Oh geez, I don’t know how I’m going to handle this... Also, like and reblog because I like to think I do good work.

Mermaid Prompts: Medieval and Witch
DC Comics Morgan Le Fey- there is zero consistency in all her official art so I got to pick and choose as I please.
And heavens am I pleased. This may be my most favorite art ever.

Javier Rodríguez does some damn fine work in this book, so I am glad I decided to pick it up in the end- I wasn’t going to originally because it sounded like it would be an illustrated text book, putting all the events of Marvel history into order. In short, exactly like its namesake, The History of the DC Universe, which looked great (it was Pérez after all), but was not really a narrative, more of a reference guide. I guess it is still quite a bit like that, but the text is predominately captions, so it feels more like a comic book than the DC book, and though the need for panels is limited (we fit a lot of history into this first issue, so sequential narrative is short on the ground), Rodríguez’s pages feel less like a collection of pin ups, as the elements are knitted together to follow the flow of the text.
A page like this brief sojourn into Arthurian times is full of interesting elements- Diablo’s origin depicted as a woodcut; vines and demons trailing around the edges of the pages- like a P Craig Russell adaptation- to be cut in half by the ebony blade; Morgan Le Fey stooping down to fit onto the page, eclipsing Merlin who seems to be directing some of the action from his platform. There’s so much going on that it’s just a pleasure to look at.
Hopefully there will be a little more narrative to the story as the series progresses, as I am not sure that 8 issues of a history book is my thing (DC’s mini-series was 2 issues, although they may have possibly had a higher page count, so I am not quite sure how the to would compare in length) and I would much rather be reading a full Waid story (in the same way as I enjoyed The Life Story of the Flash, but would choose to read his run on The Flash over it every time), but as long as the pages look this interesting, there’s going to at least be a great amount of enjoyment to be had in just looking at the pages while getting a refresher in the events that make up Marvel history.

CAMELOT 3000 (PART 3 OF 3) DECEMBER 1982 - APRIL 1985 BY MIKE W. BARR, BRIAN BOLLAND, BRUCE D. PATTERSON, DICK GIORDANO, TERRY AUSTIN AND TATJANA WOOD
SYNOPSIS (CHAPTERS 9 TO 12)
King Arthur tells Tom the story of the Holy Grail. It is supposed to perform miracles, for it was twice associated with Jesus Christ. First the holy communion, and then, in the moment of his Crucifixion, someone used to to collect his blood. Percival prays to get a hint of where it is and he finds out it was in Glastonbury Tor after all. To prevent Morgan from learning this secret, all of them start wearing a cloaking charm.
Tumblr media
Morgan reveals to Jordan his role. She makes him remember his old life, a baby, being drown by King Arthur (Arthur thought a son of his would pose a threat to his throne). Jordan remembers he was Modred.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In New Camelot, Arthur divides the group, one will search for the Holy Grail and the other one will search for Merlin.
Percival finds the guardian of the Holy Grail and discovers that he has holy blood. With the grail in his hands, he saves Tom’s life, but then transfigures, leaving Lancelot as the guardian of the Grail. In just a few panels he loses the Grail to the enemy. Jordan, in possession of the Grail, starts giving Morgan orders.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jordan makes an armor with the Grail embedded in it. He is now immune to everything. He starts killing all the world leaders.
Arthur and some knights travel to the tenth planet in a spaceship. Lancelot, Guinevere and Tom got to the nuclear plant to ask the lady in the lake (Elaine) to send them to the tenth planet. Everyone is on the tenth planet now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Earth, King Arthur is considered a traitor. The propaganda machine is blaming him for the murder of the world leaders. Isolde finds out that Jordan is allied to Morgan La Fey and sens a message to the spaceship. When Tom sees the message, he sees that Isolde sends her love to Tristan. He burns that part of the message. Arthur and the knights, led by the women, are sent to meet the queen of the alien race. They make an alliance to free them in exchange of soldiers.
Tumblr media
Tristan once again has to deal with McAllister, this time she learns that only Morgan Le Fay’s magic can kill him, she uses the talisman against him (the one that is supposed to make her go back to being a man). Now with it destroyed, she wants to end her life, but Tom tries to convince her that being a woman cannot be “that bad”.
Tumblr media
The knights use the ship as a battering ram. In the middle of the fight, Galahad sacrifices, blowing up the ship, to make an entrance to the castle. Arthur faces Jordan and Lancelot tells him that the holy armor is incompatible with Merlin (son of the devil), he then pushes Jordan into Merlin and this ends his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Morgan Le Fay tries one more attack. Merlin transports the rest home, while he takes care of Morgan. He detonates a neutron bomb, sacrificing himself to put an end to Morgan.
Tumblr media
Back on Earth. Tristan and Isolde try to rekindle their love. Tristan starts learning how to love her in this form (and she finally seems happy).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guinevere is pregnant (they do not know if it’s Arthur’s or Lancelot, both of them hope it’s Arthur’s).
Some time later, we see an alien escaping bad guys, he finds a sword in the stone and the cycle begins anew.

CONTEXT (FROM WIKIPEDIA)
Barr came up with the concept of Camelot 3000 in approximately 1975, having been inspired by a college course he took in Arthurian literature. He submitted the proposal to DC Comics several years later, only to have it rejected. He then submitted it to Marvel Comics, where it was accepted for serialized publication in one of their black-and-white magazines, but for unknown reasons the project did not get off the ground at this point. The Camelot 3000 concept was resubmitted to DC the following year, and this time was accepted. DC decided to run it as a maxi-series. Barr enlisted Dr. Sally Slocum, the teacher of the course which first inspired Camelot 3000, as a creative consultant for the series.
Camelot 3000 was British artist Bolland's first major work in the USA. At the time the logistics of transatlantic collaborations were difficult, and the series was created using the full script method in part because it was the easiest way for Barr and Bolland to work together while an ocean separated them. This was also the first time that Bolland's work was inked regularly by someone other than himself. Bolland was not comfortable with this and made his pencils very heavily detailed in order to leave the inker as little room for creative reinterpretation as possible. This, combined with Bolland's personal goal to top himself with each new issue, made it difficult for him to keep up with the series's monthly schedule, and the last several issues were late. Barr recounted that Bolland spent nine months drawing the final issue.
Barr originally had the role of Tom Prentice filled by a girl, but editor Len Wein strongly felt that the character should be a boy. Though the series's exploration of gender identity themes (and presumed homosexuality) was published without opposition from DC's editorial staff, Barr recalled that Camelot 3000 received a number of letters from children who were confused and/or upset by this content.
The series also briefly experimented with reproducing art directly from the pencils (i.e. without inking). However, printing techniques at the time were still relatively primitive, and Bolland found that creating pencil art which could be reproduced by the printers was more work than actually inking it. As such, only two pages (specifically, the first two pages of issue #2) were produced in this manner.

REVIEW
As you may have imagined, this story doesn’t take place in the DCU (there is, however, an Arthur, Morgan and Merlin in the DCU). I would have to say that this maxi-series was ground-breaking. Not only because it was part of the “British invasion”, it was the first of its kind and proved it was possible, and it also explored themes like gender identity. Some people have problems with it, and I can understand it (as Tristan ends up accepting her forced gender). But you also have to see that Tristan wasn’t a good man before. I think in the context of this story it’s ok. Also have in mind two things, it was 1982, and this man, as well as all the knights, belonged to the Middle Ages.
As an extension of the Arthurian legend, you just have to accept this is a sci-fi comic-book. But it has very interesting points of view. I think the moment Arthur is flying over England and finally gets to see it from space is a very powerful scene.
I think it’s a great story and YOU SHOULD READ IT. I think it would also work well as a movie, but I don’t think the world is ready for something like this. It would probably flop.
Bolland’s art is obviously the best of this series. I cannot imagine it being so important without him. Of course, the last issues took years to complete, let’s say I am happy to have all issues at my disposal now, but at the time it was probably very annoying for readers (kind of like how we feel waiting for the last issues of Doomsday Clock).
There are some things that are barely touched in the story. Arthur at some point killed a lot of babies... that’s not how a savior acts. These characters are not perfect, it is implied that there was a lot of raping and adultery in their previous lives (it’s a bit like Game of Thrones).
Sure, there are some things that don’t make sense. Like the ship getting to the tenth panel very fast because it travels at the speed of light (even at the speed of light it would take years to get there).
But the story keeps twisting and surprising you. I read this story for the first time five years ago, and I forgot almost everything... but Tristan’s story. I think that is the conflict that you will remember for the rest of your life.
I give this series a score of 10

#JackedKirby - Bath Of Fire!!! 🔥🔥🔥 The Demon May have originated as a “contract fulfillment” series from Jack after the premature cancelation of his 4th World books by DC... but by the time it wrapped up in issue 16 it would be one of the most visually stunning and complex series Jack ever worked on! From issue 1 all the way through the end Jack barrages the reader with splash page and double page spread one after another, bringing the hideous monsters and creatures of the story to nightmarish life! It is a horror fanatics wet dream to say the least... 🔥🔥🔥 #Issue2 was published in October of 1972 and is a prime example of this. Jack starts the issue with not one... not two... but THREE full page splashes to get the ball rolling! That’s insane, something rarely ever seen in comics from anyone beside him. He has at least 5 other full page splashes in this issue alone... But the opening page to Chapter 3 is the splash we choose to focus on in this post! 🔥🔥🔥 Morgan Le Fey is conducting a magic seance in the woods with the hope of restoring her youth. She is wearing a creepy ass mask, and before she starts the ritual she removes the mask to reveal a decrepit & decaying centuries old face!!! The shift from the pristine mask to the wrinkled visage is so stark... but the real “Kirby-ism” of the page is his use of Kirby Krackle within the flames of the fire. Kirby works his magic with those little black dots and you can almost feel the heat coming off the page as if you were sitting right there in the forest alongside Le Fey and her minions! 🔥🔥🔥 This series is a visual treat for anyone who gives it a shot, and DC just recently collected it and re-released it in one paperback edition! Get on it!!! 🔥🔥🔥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #TheDemon #JasonBlood #MorganLeFey #Witchcraft #Horror #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #SplashPage #KirbySplashPage #70sComics #ComicsOfThe70s #igcomicfamily #igcomics #comicsofinstagram #comicbooksociety #dccomics #kirbykrackle

@verecunda tagged me in this a while back, and it completely slipped my mind until I saw it half-done in my notes, oops—sorry it took so long! Also, this got wordier than intended, probably because that always happens when I’m avoiding doing actual work. Oh well.
If any of you feel like ranting about your fave female characters, here’s an excuse to do so--though no pressure, of course. Tagging @zonesthesia, @bioticplaneswalker, @joyseeker6, @moonhairedgirl, @yousef-the-uber-driver, @northernpansy, @tresjoly, @xxchimericalxx, @arthoure, @mrmissmrsrandom, @gascon-en-exil, @amorremanet and anyone else reading this who feels like it!
Rules:  Rules: Write your ten favourite female characters from ten different fandoms and tag ten different people.
1. Fire Emblem—Sonya
This ended up being a close tie between Sonya and Jill, but I gave this one to Sonya since I’ve actually finished her game. Sonya is amazing. A non-lord character with a connection to the villains always brings them up a notch in my estimation and it’s a damn shame she never got more than one boss conversation with her father—and none with her sisters! Her ending was initially aggravating, but I like to go with the common theory that since Duma is no longer around, talk of her becoming a witch was just hearsay. Her support with Genny is brilliant. She manages to be confident and alluring without turning into a caricature, unlike certain other unfortunate characters throughout the—mostly recent—games. And since she’s from a less popular game, she’s hardly as likely to get completely flanderised in spinoffs. Why on Earth would you ever pick Deen?
Honourable mentions: Celica (FE2/15), Lyn (FE7), Jill Fizzart (FE9/10). This isn’t counting games I’ve not actively played, though there are certain FE4 and FE10 characters who might have ended up in the mentions if I had, given what I know about them.
2. Persona—Yukino Mayuzumi
I actually wasn’t expecting to put Yukino here when I was first trying to figure out who my favourite female character from Persona was. I knew it would likely be a P2 character, since that is my favourite game in the series thus far, but then I realised how much I’ve been missing Yukino in particular while playing Eternal Punishment. The Empress arcana really does fit her: she’s a combination of tough-as-nails and motherly, and a cool older figure for the team to look up to. I especially love how she transfers the chance Saeko gave her to reform during her yankī days to Anna, years later. And that’s not even going into the revelations from her Shadow: she’s torn between two career paths, not feeling good enough to achieve either. And she gives up her Persona for Jun! That takes some serious selflessness.
Honourable mentions: Maki Sonomura (P1/2), Maya Amano (P2), Naoto Shirogane (P4), Labrys (Arena)
3. Ace Attorney—Ema Skye
This came closer than any other entry on the list, both Mia and Franziska initially taking this spot before I eventually settled on Ema. She was an interesting enough character as a kid, her peppiness and the science-obsession gimmick quickly giving way to a more complex characterisation, especially once her full involvement in SL-9 was revealed. However, the science-gimmick paid off wonderfully in AJ:AA when we see how she’s transformed into a jaded, bitter detective, her dreams of becoming a scientist crushed because she didn’t pass the exams she needed to get a career in forensics. When SOJ rolled around and she’d actually managed to get into the field, it felt earned, way more than if we’d met her SOJ self in AJ:AA.
Honourable mentions: Franziska von Karma, Mia Fey
4. Zero Escape—Lotus
Of all the characters who didn’t make it into the sequels which followed on from the original game, Lotus—along with Santa, who I’ll admit has more story-based reasons to return—is the one I miss most. She loves her daughters, fiercely enough to relentlessly investigate their kidnapping by herself for years when the police were of no use, and on top of all that, she’s a genius programmer. The moment I actively started loving Lotus was when she, clearly scared but putting on a brave face, volunteered to go in the electric chair in the torture chamber. It made you realise she genuinely is utilitarian, rather than just being out for her own survival; she’s clearly self-interested, but not completely selfish. I’m just gonna quote Uchikoshi himself: “She may seem selfish and cold, but she’s actually the most rational and sensible out of all of them. She has the intellectual ability to make very logical decisions.” She’s just the best.
Honourable mentions: Akane Kurashiki, Diana
5. Avatar—Azula
I know there are people who follow me still watching Avatar, so I’ll try and keep this as spoiler-free as I can in case they end up skimming some of this accidentally. (Though I’d definitely not recommend anyone who wants to remain completely unspoiled reads this entry on the list.)
But anyway—“Do the tides command this ship?”
The Fire Nation royal family just provides all the best characters in the series. Zuko is definitely my male fave, while his sister takes the female spot. Source of both the vast majority of best lines in the show, as well as the most Machiavellian of villainy, Azula is just awesome to watch in action, whether it be in the political, martial or personal sphere. The odd dynamic she has with Zuko is my favourite in the series, managing to be outright antagonistic, while at some moments offering the glimmer of a genuine, if warped almost beyond recognition, sibling bond. There are even more poignant moments where we’re reminded of her actual age and how her family circumstances have shaped her into what she is. She’s a complex villain, one of the best this, or any other series, has to offer.
Honourable mentions: Kuvira, Katara, Toph Beifong
6. A Song of Ice and Fire—Sarella Sand
Okay, if we’re doing a female character list, I kinda have to give the original Dornish Sphinx herself a spot on the list. Not much page space has been devoted to her as of the current date, considering our only consistent POV character in Oldtown just arrived. I’m looking forward to what she and Archmaester Marwyn get up to once GRRM finishes TWOW. The least war-hungry of the Sand Snakes, she’s not even been introduced on page as herself yet. Instead, we know her as “Alleras”, a pleasant young Dornishman of sharp intellect studying at the Citadel.
Honourable mentions: Asha Greyjoy, Sansa Stark, Arianne Martell
7. DCU—Selina Kyle
Is there any Bat-work, canon or fanon, that isn’t instantly made a dozen times better by Selina swooping in? (Okay, there are a couple of duds, but usually she’s a delightful presence.) One of DC’s best anti-hero/anti-villains.
Honourable mentions: Renée Montoya, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown
8. Danganronpa—Kyōko Kirigiri
The original Ultimate Detective herself. Cool, poised and collected, she certainly makes for a more convincing detective character than certain other later characters from the series, though Shuichi does try his best.
Honourable mentions: Kaede Akamatsu, Junko Enoshima, Chiaki Nanami
9. Doctor Who—Martha Jones
I’m scraping the barrel a little for fandoms, considering I don’t even watch the show anymore, but Martha is my favourite of all companions. I never wanted her to get with the Doctor, of course, but I appreciated how her unrequited feelings for him didn’t swallow up her entire character. She’s courageous, smart and leaves the TARDIS on her own accord, which is refreshing.
10. Arthuriana—Morgan le Fay
This is a tricky one, since Arthuriana is more a literary tradition than a fandom per se. The characters which belong to it don’t technically ever stick to one characterisation, personality or role—everyone has their own interpretation, or even several different ones. That said—yes, my favourite is Morgan, how original of me, I know. Viviane runs her competition, but since she’s all over the place—quite literally, becoming or amalgamating several different characters at once—Morgan wins. There’s a reason she’s overused in modern adaptions, though, and it’s because she’s amazing. I mean, she even got a geographical phenomenon named after her and in some traditions, she lives in a goddamn volcano. She’s at her best as Queen of Rheged, though, casually trying to murder her husband, or Guinevere, or teaching a lesson to whichever knight of the week volunteers for her obvious trap. Just never mention that modern book she’s most known for around me unless you want me to angry-cry. Also, she’s not Morgause. Let Morgause be her own character, modern media, please.
Honourable mentions: Viviane, Lynette, Ragnell
