Ten minutes tick by, ten long minutes since Lola had spotted the pale figure dressed in all black and deduced from the monster energy can clutched in a shaky hand with messy nail polish that this chick was her kind of person. Whether Lola was her type of person was an entirely other story but that had never stopped her before.

What was stopping her right now was the look etched into her tired face, eyes squinted and exaggerated by her dark eye makeup, almost making it seem like they were closed. Her mouth was pursed like she was wincing and she had that slight shake that told Lola she was probably running off of the can in her hands and nothing else. A grind she could not only relate too but respect and admire.

But she also knew the headache that came with that kind of grind and more than a few times she'd been told her chosen volume didn't particularly help ease those. But she was full of giddy energy, the kind a golden retrieve would probably be filled with at the sight of another dog. If she didn't bound over and introduce herself soon she was going to explode.

Because standing off to the side and oozing extrovert energy was really not having the gravitational effect she wished for.

The stranger's eyes ease from their squint and her head tilts slightly, blue eyes locking onto Lola who lights up instantly. This was it! The sweet, sweet beginning of friendship. She could see it now, the two of them sharing a joint while listening to music off of a shitty old ipod, she seemed the type to have one. Lola goes to take a step forward, away from the vending machine she'd been loitering in front of, but a force knocks into her and sends her into said vending machine instead.

Tweak Kirby offers a jumbled slur of an apology before continuing forward to the mystery girl, who grabs what looked to be a hot pocket from his waving hand as hee got close. Lola watches them walk off towards a beat up car and blinks owlishly as the engine starts up. Ah, what bitter defeat.

Literally just a “what if everyone lived, Jack was a toddler, and they all picked him up from school?” AU. I audibly laughed while reading this, and it’s an essential pick-me-up from the heavier fics.

I collected some of them and WOW, we really had a blast this year. I already forgot how much fun we had!!!!

I've seen performing!Dean talked about for ages, but for me performing!Rowena and performing!Sam (as high-falootin' high-class phonies) was particular good-tasting to me this year.

Some of the chatter around Lily Sundar episode as a "hidden Mad Men" type atmosphere with humans as the "hoes you shoudn't have emotions about" was great, and Cas a "exemplary high-performing man's man/angel's angel/results guy" was chef's kiss for me. I ate that like a barbarian.

Also, I adored the explorations about Jack's own performances too, or at least that people might entertain that his niceness and gentleness "golden child/good boy" thing is a little bit of an act to hide any darker feelings. He's brutal when it comes to protecting and has quite a temper (see: gas station worker getting choked out, all of Apocalypse Earth...)

Lately, Dean hadn't been acting like himself. Ever since their first date, he had been spending way more time with Amerie than he ever thought he would. He knew her schedule at work and would visit her, he took her out all the time, they texted when they weren't around each other. It wasn't anything he was used to, and it took him a while to notice that he wasn't going out to bars at night nearly as much and that he hadn't slept with anyone besides her since Halloween. He knew he liked her, and if he wasn't such a coward he probably would've asked her to be his girlfriend weeks ago.

For tonight, they'd made plans to have dinner at Dean's place so he spent the better half of his afternoon preparing for it. The idea of cooking for a chef was daunting, but somehow the idea of cooking for her specifically was so much worse. He really wanted her to like it, and not because of her profession. Hearing the knock at his door, he walked over and let her in, greeting her with a kiss. "God, look at you, you look incredible" he said with a smile as he pulled away, at this point it was pretty standard for Dean to compliment her as his first sentence every time he saw her. "Come on in" he ushered her through the doorway, closing it behind them. "Okay- so, keep in mind that every time I bragged about making the best barbecue, I never thought I would ever actually need to prove it so just know I did my best and that if you tell me you don't like it, I'll start crying, so please lie to me if you hate it" he said, mainly joking with a laugh as he walked back toward his kitchen. He was actually quite good at making pulled pork sliders- which was exactly what he'd made for them tonight, but he was still nervous for her to try them. She'd gotten to know him well enough that the very confident facade that Dean liked to show off had started to fade, and the real Dean who was more anxious and slightly insecure shone through at times.

Charlie nudged Sam, casting her eyes over towards Dean and Cas on the other side of the room; where they were pressed together from knee to shoulder and darting little lovesick gazes at each other. “I bet I can get them to finally kiss,” she said, wiggling her eyebrows and grinning.

“You think you can successfully do what I’ve been trying to attempt for the last 10 year?”

With a smirk, Charlie stole the blanket from Sam’s side of the couch as she laughed. “What you need is a sister's intuition. I’ll bet you $100 that I can get them to kiss right now.”

“Alright, you’re on,” Sam said, and Charlie knew by the eye roll that Sam didn’t think she was going to win. But oh, how naive Sam was. Because Charlie had an inside scoop. A knowledge that only she knew.

“Hey Dean. Can I borrow Cas for a second? I wanted to test a theory that the gays in the room can kiss better than anyone else,” Charlie called, peering over the back of the couch towards the table where Dean and Cas were currently looking at old movie posters together.

“Woah woah, wait what? You wanna do what with Cas?” Dean asked, head shooting up in shock.

“Kiss him. To prove gays can kiss better. If Cas is up for it?” she said, waiting until she caught Cas’ gaze and throwing him a wink.

“Sure, I don’t see why not,” Cas replied, casually standing up from the table.

But Dean's hand shot out, snatching Cas by the wrist. “I can kiss you better than Charlie can. She doesn’t even like men.”

Cas turned, raising an eyebrow in surprise.

“And you do? Like men?” Cas asked, slowly and carefully as if he didn’t want to spook Dean.

“Would you please just kiss me?” Dean asked, pulling Cas back towards the table with a hand wrapping around Cas’ tie to pull him closer.

When their lips finally met, Charlie cheered and poked Sam in the ribs. “Told you so. Now pay up. Hard cash is a girl’s best friend.”
