Let's go everyone: time to share my Ellabby headcanons

Been wanting to get these out there for a good long while. I won't HC too much about what happens in the present season cuz it's still airing, but this is how I see them as a couple.

So when everyone grows more used to Gabby's eccentricities or Ellie helps everyone accept her more, I can definitely see Alec, Jake, Dan (once he apologizes for trying to vote Gabby off), Ashley+Will and Drew getting along with them best. They all keep in touch with one another post-DC. And I definitely see Jake and Ashill going "awww!" when they're being affectionate or exchanging words of love...while Drew just holds up a piece of paper saying "Nice" lmao

In terms on if they met the contestants of Total Drama...I feel like they'd get on best with Bridgette (especially her), Geoff, Izzy, Owen, Dawn, Ella, Jasmine, 2023 Emma (provided she's not still dating Chase) and the Vegans from RR. Maybe Gwen too.

It's already canonically confirmed that Gabby owns a LOT of pets, though given her father didn't take care of them well...oof. Well when they move in together they're gonna get a LOT of pets. Like...a LOT a lot of pets.

Ellie's the kind of girl that usually is introverted, quiet and often a little snarky, but I get the feeling she just melts like putty when she's with her girlfriend, and they tend to be quite affectionate in public. Nothing over-the-top or constantly make-outy like Geoff and Bridgette, but they love to give each other hugs, lots of kisses on their forehead, nose, cheek and a few lip kisses too, and exchanging lots of "I love you"s and terms of endearment.

Speaking of which, I see them as a pet name-using couple, but nothing sugary like "sweetiekins" or "googoopie", but rather simple ones like "my love", "darling" and "honey", or pretty-sounding ones like "forest rose" and "twinkling star". Gabby's favorite pet name for Ellie is "Sunset Angel" while Ellie's favorite pet name for Gabby is "Nature Princess".

Given the kind of person Gabby is, they don't go to big, bustling cities often for their vacations, often preferring less busy places like small towns and countrysides.

They also love having picnics. Especially in parks and gardens, or on beaches at nighttime.

Along with picnics, one of their favored kinds of dates is to simply go on nature walks together in quiet places like a forest or a meadow, just enjoying nature and one another's company.

They. Love. Exchanging flowers. Gabby's favorites are tulips and hyacinths while Ellie's favorites are peonies and lavenders. They often sneak in some red roses too to represent their love for one another. (Oh and they love stitching flower crowns for one another two.)

They're both pretty ticklish. However I feel like Gabby's the more ticklish of the two. Ellie loves tickling her simply cuz it makes her happy to see Gabby laughing (and she LOVES the way she laughs)

Every night when there's a full moon, they go out to cuddle underneath it together. Even if it's raining, cuz they l-o-v-e to kiss under the rain

Ellie's great at playing guitar and is an AMAZING singer when are we going to get a musical DC season???. She often loves serenading her girlfriend when they're out on nature walks or moonlit cuddles. (Definitely seeing her singing some girl in red tunes here. Especially "we fell in love in october" or "I'll Call You Mine")

Close to their second anniversary I feel like Ellie worked with some of her fellow DC campers she befriended in season 1 and the likely All-Stars season to bring Gabby on a safari vacation to Africa. And on the night of the anniversary itself (which was also a full moon night), they went on one of their nature hikes through the beautiful wilderness. The entire time, Ellie told her just how much she loved her, more than anything else in the world, and how happy she made her - and at the climax of that night, Ellie proposed to her. Yes there were tears of joy, from BOTH of them.

At the wedding, which took place deep in a forest just like Gabby would love, almost everyone from DC was present (not gonna say who's banned yet depending on how the rest of Season 1 goes...Yul's definitely banned though), as well as a good amount of Total Drama contestants. Alec was their best man while I get the feeling Lill and Ashley were their maids of honor. They gave one another wedding rings with star ruby gemstones (also Dan is the ring-bearer because yes). Oh and since Ellie wished to work in fashion, Imma say she designed both her and Gabby's clothes. Also Kai being their officiator won't leave my head cuz he's a very nature-minded person and he'd definitely see a good future for the two of them.

I see them moving in together in a cabin or cottage in a forest or mountainside (these two girls give big cottagecore vibes)

I'm seeing them use IVF to have their daughter. As for names I'm seeing something nature-related like Rose/Rosie/Rosita, Autumn, Daisy, Willow or Hazel.

Paranormal Piracy

Well past her days of Piracy, Jacqueline finds herself in WAY over her head when a ship of ghost pirates kidnaps her, hoping the famous Bruexa de la Niege can help them navigate through and onto the perilous, once thought mythical, Endless Winter Island to find the supposed lost treasure that resides there that would surely set them up for the rest of their (after) lives.

Do they know they're dead? I am unsure at this time, but it is somehow FUNNIER if they DON'T. I know for certain though that Jacqueline very much thinks the entire time, holy snowballs, I hope this treasure is real so that when they find it they can move on to the Great Beyond and I can go back to bed.

The Shortest Day of the Year

Blaise has to fend off a LOT of people to make sure she gets her rest! winter wakes up, realizes she slept through the entire day, shrugs and goes "Well, I've had thousands of birthdays, and there's plenty more to come, I'm sure." Meanwhile, her hubby looks like he has fought a whole entire second and third war while she slept.

SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG! Meant to post yesterday but got distracted by errands, and today we tackled the Fear Ladder I created to get over a new fear of driving on the highway thanks to the dealer comparing my car to a sick PUPPY that needs to be put down--and yes, they said puppy. IT'S BEEN. AN EXPERIENCE, THIS WEEK! DON'T GO TO DEALERSHIPS IF U CAN AVOID IT. FIND URSELF A GOOD MECHANIC THAT WON'T TUG AT UR HEARTSTRINGS WITH PUPPY METAPHORS.

But yes things are going okay and I think I've got the wedding invites almost ready to go which is a RELIEF ANYWAY, YOU DID NOT ASK FOR MY WEEKEND LIFE STORY AND YET. MY MOUTH IS A MOTORING. AS PROMISED, MUSINGS:

I got stuck on the golden ticket one and had to do a think and a half, lmao, but then it popped into my head yesterday before bed and I was like "oh god the angst. the hurt comfort. holy fuck."

i have no idea if there is a dance number in footloose, but given the titular song i have to believe there is, y'know? and I HAVE to believe Jack knows it and to defeat the dancing curse they gotta reproduce the number PERFECTLY. Jack's like "MY TIME HAS COME"

Fino and Fiera get HELLA DISTRACTED at the mall and it is chaotic as FUCK. Fino walks by an electronics store and is like "I am going to fiddle and click every button". Fiera keeps running into the little like, hallmark esque shops like "is it magic or not" and BOTH kids meet their doom with clothing, oh my god. they didn't even KNOW they liked nice clothes until the moment they lay eyes on the pretty dress shop! Shame ordibeing clothing isn't usually fireproof ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

anyway they 100% get banned, 3 fire trucks and several casualties later

AND to tug at ur heartstrings: I realized that once Jacqueline found Jack's secret library, she had like ALL of his magical knowledge at her disposal and could KEEP TRAINING PAST THE WINTER MASTERY WINTER KNEW?! So now when she says "I learnt from the best!" she truly does mean it bc even tho he wasn't there she STILL learnt from him

and u bet ur ass when they reunite and he picks up that she learnt from his shit Jack's like "cool! ur form is sloppy and that's not being done right" and helps her refine her skills, yo

I Dreamt About You

“Mel it’s gonna rain,” Caprice complained. He was standing over her as she laid on the ground staring up at the storm clouds.

“It’s fine, when it starts it’ll wake me up, don't worry about it,” she said. Caprice groaned, but walked away to stay warm and dry. She should go inside, but the wind was calming and the smell of rain mixed beautifully with the salty scent of the ocean.

She closed her eyes and listened to the wind blowing through the trees. She loved days like this. Melody had fallen asleep to storms more times than she could count. The noise blocked out everything and she could sing without her parents knowing as a kid. She hadn’t felt this relaxed in a long time. It was nice.

Kyrie was curious how Melody would handle a storm. He had only seen it when he was human size. The rain would start soon and the waves would be choppy. Pelago had already locked down the cave so he would be out in the water during it. It was easier for him to swim around during storms. He finally reached the beach near his human and saw her laying on the ground.

He panicked at that, climbing out quickly to make sure she was safe. He didn’t want to lose her when he could still barely understand her. She moved once he got close, curling up on her side. He felt the change in the air as the clouds prepared to break. Kyrie got close and rested an arm on the ground. He placed his head on top of it then he covered her with his free hand. Just as he got settled the crash of thunder echoed and the rain began.

He felt odd out on the surface during a storm. It was the time that most other merfolk were hidden away. He didn’t have to be as careful or worry about the fear and stares. He liked this better though. He could do something for her, let her sleep in the open safely. He was still trying to make her trust him, but she didn’t seem as scared anymore.

Thunder crashed again and she moved more. He watched as those beautiful brown eyes opened and seemed to still be unfocused. She watched him and he couldn’t hold back a weary trill. She tensed and looked up at him with wide eyes. He didn’t mean to scare her. She calmed almost immediately, looking at him with a warm smile. He chirped a bit, leaning closer.

“I thought the rain would wake me up, not the sound of thunder,” she said. He chirped again, he couldn’t understand most of the words she said. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.

“MelOdy…?” he asked. She smiled at him then laughed.

“You still say it a bit weird. It’s mel-uh-dee not mel-O-dee. By the way, I dreamt about you.”

He tilted his head, the words not clear. It was something about him though. He chirped at her more and she reached up touching his fingers. He shivered, the small hand warm against his skin. She would get smaller to him and he didn’t want that. He didn’t want to grow again.

“We met like normal people and you still seemed weirdly excited to meet me. Dragging me around even though you were basically a foot taller than me. That doesn’t mean much considering how big you really are. We did normal things, walking side by side, seeing movies, all that stuff. It was fun.”

She sounded sad. He leaned closer, blocking the space between his face and his hand. He chirped again to try and reassure her. She looked at him with a somber face. He didn’t know how to fix it.

“You’re not that scary anymore. You just seem to care about me. I keep kind of wishing we were just two humans who met like normal people. I know you’re gonna get bigger and I keep thinking I’ll look like a speck. I think I’m starting to see you how you see me and I don’t want to trap you with someone so small…”

“Love you,” he said. He couldn’t say much more when he didn’t know what she said. He just didn’t like her sounding so sad. He just wanted her to be happy, even if it meant she sent him away. From the stories it wasn’t completely uncommon for that to happen.

“You’re weirdly like a puppy. I know you don’t understand any of this, it’s probably the only reason I can say it.” 

Thunder crashed and lightning crackled through the sky. She curled in on herself somewhat. Kyrie moved back, making sure to keep her dry. Humans liked to be dry. He brought his other hand close and blocked the sky over her. He chirped a bit hoping she’d understand. He frowned when she poked her head out closer to him.

“Inside. House dry. Safe,” he tried. 

He saw her little eyes go wide before she smiled. She disappeared under his hands again before patting the tips of his fingers. He would move forward keeping her dry until she reached the house. She turned back and looked at him sadly again. He didn’t like it and offered another chirp. She started waving.

“Thank you, someday I’ll tell you the dream when you’d understand.”

Probably not, it's still essentially the same thing just multiple contexts. Does All Too Well by Taylor Swift count because I associate it both with events from my own life and very different events from a show I've watched? Or is two meanings not enough to count as "many"? Does Error by niki or at least Jubyphonic's english cover of it count because most of the lines I can interpret in multiple ways and relate to multiple specific experiences, or does it not count because all of those are still generally within one bigger thing in my mind? Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder — Get on Board (Nonesuch)

If you live long enough, time has a way of snapping back at you, bringing your current, vastly inferior self into sync, at least temporarily, with the people you know, the places you went, the things you did as a much younger person. That seems to have happened for Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder, who first performed together in 1965 as the Rising Sons. They were good enough to get a record contract from Columbia but the sessions they produced together in the 1960s were never officially released. Cooder played on Taj Mahal’s first album, released in 1968, and then the two went their separate ways.

Cooder carved out a blues slide guitar path that led through rock and country, from roots authenticity to chart-topping accommodation and even, memorably, to post-revolutionary Cuba. Taj Mahal lived and played and studied the blues, collaborated with the Rolling Stones and Keb Mo and Toumani Diabaté, (among others) and was an early experimenter with the music of other cultures. Both have been widely lauded, Cooder placed of Rolling Stones’ “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” in 2003; Taj Mahal has won three Grammys. But after the debut Taj Mahal solo album, the two never recorded together again…until now.

The two joined together on Get on Board to play the music of Piedmont bluesmen Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, two artists celebrated in the 1960s folk revival, who both Cooder and Mahal saw perform as young teenagers. Their Piedmont style of blues incorporated a broad array of influences, not just the African rhythms and field chants of the deep south, but styles like boogie-woogie, jazz and folk. The idea was for Cooder and Mahal to recreate their music with Mahal singing, playing guitar, harmonic and piano and Cooder adding guitar, mandolin and banjo. Cooder’s son Joachim played bass and drums.

The disc shares a name, three songs and a cover art aesthetic with Get on Board: Negro Folksongs by the Folkmasters, the 1952 compilation that introduced Terry and McGhee to the wider public. That disc’s original “Midnight Special” lays its rough, shuffling rhythms down in staccato guitar and terse blurts of harmonica. Cooder and Taj Mahal capture the song’s insouciant charm, with Cooder strumming guitar and singing a home-y lead and Mahal blowing raspy fills of harmonica. Cooder switches to mandolin for “Hooray Hooray,” sketching trebly figures around the pair’s voices in unison, and Mahal again retraces Terry’s harmonica work with jaunty, enflamed precision. Joachim Cooder’s percussion is spare and sharp—he is maybe playing a box here, certainly not a traditional drum kit.

These songs run the bluesman’s gamut from the sacred to profane, the piano-led “Deep Sea Diver” slouches heavy with sexual innuendos, while gorgeous, prayerful “I Shall Not Be Moved” partakes of gospel pieties. There are field songs (“Pick a Bale of Cotton”), eating songs (“Cornbread, Peas, Black Molasses”) and drinking songs (“Drinkin’ Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee”), all proceeding with a shuffling, sliding, percussive motion, the two principals switching off on vocals and passing the guitar as the mood takes them. You could spend a lot of time thinking about why these songs and what Terry and McGhee meant in their own time and what they mean now, but the songs are pure visceral experiences that you feel in your gut and your heart.

Taking Erik To The Beauty Supply Store 2 / Barber Shop With Erik

it's a regular day in the stevens household. going to the beauty supply store again & the barber shop but hey it's fun cause it's you and your man.

First taking Erik to the beauty supply store fic:

“I could beat the brake off her lying ass. First of all, I should’ve known something was up cause she asked me if I’m natural. I said yes. She said well I normally do relaxed hair.. Then said you got to have your hair washed and blow dried already… Talking about she was going to have me serving 90s Nia Long. This bitch got me looking like big momma when she came home for that motherfucking party.” You continue your rant as Erik moves around the room looking for your body butter and your fluffy shoes to put on for the day.

You wanted a cute 90s pixie cut to go along with the theme of the maternity shoot which was like the cheesy 90s mall style set with the faded backdrop.

180 dollars and a lopsided , almost a golden bob later and you are still thinking about snatching her out of that salon.

“I’m gonna try and trim it up myself and dye it before the maternity photos tomorrow. But I’mma get two wigs just in case I mess up.” You explain to Erik as he begins to spread the body butter up your legs leaving a golden glow on your skin.

“Not you down there cackling after getting some hang time on the locs you been growing since high school... It’s quiet, ain't no back talk.” You banter with him and he stops massaging your legs to give you a look and laughs softly before giving you a retort of his own.

“You got a lot to say for somebody that can’t even lotion they ashy lil knees.”

“Your daughter been pushing against my organs for 8 and a half months. I don’t wanna hear nothing unless its about my push present. You know that I like rings… My engagement ring looking reeeealll lonely.” you say to him as you dangle your hand in front of his face.

“You look so fucking good today baby… Say, Big Fine, lemme get your number… I’mma eat the f-” he trails off kissing your legs and letting his tongue trail up it and you grab his chin softly.

“Boy if you don’t come on before you be late for your appointment… Can I stop and get a blue raspberry slushie first though?” you ask him and he sighs softly before giving you a small smile and nodding.

“Yeah, hold on let me grab your shoes and purse and then we can go.”

“And obviously yes when we come back before I install that lace front you can beat, duh.” you reply to him before giving him a peck to his lips.

After he grabs everything and helps you down the stairs. And with his help of putting you into his big ass truck you two are on your way.

“We’re going to get my hair cut first cause I already know you’re going to want to go to 2 different stores and it’s only gon’ take him about 15 minutes at the most to line me up.”

He wasn’t lying with the way that you liked to scan every section of the store before you left because to be honest where else were you going to get a pair of skittle shorts, bomb ass lip glosses, and a cute little panda hand sanitizer holder all in one place?

“Okay, sounds like a plan.. The way that I was supposed to have a hot girl summer this year and ended up with a damn its too hot for me to even put my clothes on mom summer. You really were not playing about trying to start a family on your birthday.” you joke as you crunch on your goldfish and look over at Erik.

“I think you just got finer through this whole thing. Watching my baby grow my baby is something surreal. In the beginning watching you go through all of the morning sickness and the body aches and stuff. I felt so bad you know not being able to physically take on all that was going on with you. I aint gon’ never not be appreciative and awe of you.” Erik replies with a serious comment that you were not expecting and you’d be damned if the hormones aren’t doing their thing.

“I really did not expect you to say that. Baabbbee, come on. You know I cry about everything right now. Love you.” you lean over to wrap your arms around him gently and kiss the side of his face while he’s focusing on the road.

“I love you too…. I think I’mma get my locs cut off soon. I don’t know why I’m ready to get a fade and just call it a day.” he questions before looking over at you briefly

“Either way you still gonna look good. I knew you before you even got your locs so you’re gonna look even better now because you grew into your head. Dee be cutting the fuck outta your hair even though he been bald for a good 40 years.” you say and it causes Erik to let out a loud laugh and shake his head.

You eventually ended up ordering a blue raspberry lemonade slushie, a hotdog and fries because Sonic basically took all of Erik's money at this point in your pregnancy.

The rest of your ride was chill as you both swayed to the music or turned it down for a little chat every now and then.

In public was always very protective of you but especially since becoming pregnant he has been hovering over you like a lion waiting for someone to even look at you for too long.

He hops out of the sleek matte black truck first to help you out and sling his arm around your waist with a hand resting on your belly.

You feel some eyes on you as you walk through the door. Your multi-coloured sundress that showcased your back, flowing with you.

Some of the men, new to the shop you assumed, were eyeing you down before Erik looked over their way and nods at them and they pretended to check their phones.

“What's up E? Damn lil sis look like she’s about to pop! How you feeling baby girl?” Dee greets you and Erik as you both walk in and some of the regulars in there say hey to the both of you.

“I’m alright Dee. Baby is just really ready to see the world. She has been kicking up a storm at times. I think we might have a little athlete here.” you reply and you watch as the greyed man with freckles across his cheeks and bridge of his nose eyes crinkle as he finishes cutting the man's hair sitting in the chair.

“I remember when I became a father for the first time. Shits wild because you think that you know everything there is to know and then when you actually see your baby take that first breath. It’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.” He continues as he shows you a photo of his 4 children and you give him a small smile.

“Ooh, they’re beautiful.” you compliment him as you settle into your seat and scroll on your phone on your phone waiting for Erik to be next.

Some time went by and the men seemed like they were trying to keep their conversation in a hush and you can see some eyes on you as they talked back and forth.

The little huddle of them in front of you stopped talking and immediately looked up at you in silence before Dee’s laugh broke it.

“I don’t know about bringing another man in. That ain't my thing but I get what you're saying. Which ones would you recommend?” The one named Leron asked and you notice Erik is now paying attention , looking from you to them to make sure they stay respectful.

“You better let them know , baby girl! That’s how that baby popped into fruition. She got you with the tantric breathing, huh E?” he jokes and Erik cracks into a smile, his golds gleaming as he looks at you.

“She not wrong. Engage in what your woman like too. Yoga, talking during sex, giving as much as you receive from her, all that. ” He says casually and shrugging and you give him a small smile cause this man done come so far from when you met him.

After he finishes lining up his beard, Erik pays and you’re on your way to one of your favourite places.

“You look so sexy. Your beard is all lined up crisp and stuff. I told you that beard oil was gonna even it out.” you say to him and kiss him below his ear . His hand gripped your thigh gently and you repeated it again.

It didn’t take long before you were at one of your favourite places.

You turned to Erik and asked him to buy a stocking cap for you to try on the wigs that you liked and wanted to see before you purchased it.

You slid on the stocking cap over your hair before grabbing a cute little 27 piece pixie cut wig just to try it on and see what it was giving . You finger combed it and turned to Erik to ask him how it looks.

“Like you finna start singing “Truth is i’m tired. Take me to the king. Here’s my offering-” .” You hold in your laugh as you push Erik’s chest and he grabs your hands.

“I can’t stand your ass !” You say cracking up and Erik grabs the stocking cap from his pocket that he brought himself and slides it over his locs.

You watch as he grabs one of the bobs from the mannequin and sits it half cocked on his head before shaking it side to side.

“What’s cooler than being cool? Ice cold. You know what to do doooo. You know what to doooo.... This is your grand daddy. This is your grand daddy.” Erik starts acting like Andre 3000 and Mr. Brown. You swear this man was gonna make you push out this baby with how hard you were laughing at him.

“Why are you moving your lips like thaaat? What’s your name? B.O.B, so they calling you Bob? Stop playing nigga you know that I’m known for the bob.” you sing the nicki minaj lyrics to him and both of y’all get a good laugh before he takes off the wig and places it carefully back on the mannequin.

He looks over at the one that looked the most like your hair before you got it cut and slides it on.

His expressions changed and he narrowed his eyes at you before putting his hand on his stomach.

“Whew, my god E. You did this to me and for what? My ankles looking like cornbread huh? Look at this shit bae! If my nose swells for real in these next months, we fighting. Damn, I’m getting thick. I look like I'm pregnant in the front and the back. Can you get me two shrimp po’boys and some fries on the way home? ERIK, wake up- You our baby look like Stitch in this ultrasound? Stop playing , im for real.” he sounds exactly like you and mimicked your expressions to a t.

You giggled softly and snatched his wig off leaving him standing there looking crazy in the cap.

“You wanna fight?” You ask him before walking up on him like you’re on bad girls club and swinging the wig at him.

He helped you put the wig back on the mannequin and kissed both of your hands before continuing through the aisle with you.

You both ignored how many times the employee passed by or watched you as you grabbed some of the products from the shelf and put it into your little cart that you wanted to try.

“You wish this was you, huh? You wanted to be Future from 8 Mile so bad, huh? ” you ask Erik , laughing as you point to the full lace faux locs wig that’s in front of you and he shakes his head.

“She got you down bad. This you?” he asks you as he points to the lil gold church wig that’s sitting on the top shelf and you suck your teeth at him .

“You wanna dip dye your hair for tomorrow? A pretty auburn colour would look so good on you or even a baby blue?” You ask him as you move away from the wigs after deciding to put a off black lace front straight wig in your cart and another in sandy blonde with deep waves.

You scan the shelf of dye as Erik wraps his arm around your waist and takes a look.

“This one looks good right here.” He adds as he hands you a colour called Electric Blue.

“This is gonna look so good on you bae.” You compliment him and he leans down to kiss you softly.

“You only tryna compliment me cause you want me to help you install that wig. You think you slick bae.” he calls as he walks off towards the hair care products for his locs.

“Well, if I’m finna use the little energy I have to retwist your hair you could at least extend the helping hand!” You call after him.

“I haven’t tried peppermint oil yet but it should be good to add to my mix? Look, I found this small ass bonnet. She’s gonna be able to match us.” He says walking back to you and showing you the lilac bonnet in his hand and you swear you were about to tear up again cause all 3 of you were gonna have matching bonnets and durag.

“If she takes after both of us she’s gonna have a head full of hair. To cover that melon from your side.” You tease him

“Come on and grab your butterfly wings for your eyes so we can go home and finish our show. I’mma cook them snow crabs for you too.” he says to you and you can see him watching you like you hung the moon in the sky yourself as you venture off.

You grabbed the edge control, lashes, a new lipstick, earrings, glosses, Got2b spray, and some accessories for Erik’s hair before meeting him at the counter.

It took him all of two seconds to pay for your beauty supply store addiction and you were off on your way back to the crib to love on him.

Erik was currently standing behind you while you sat in the chair in his old large tshirt and held down the wig to the Ghost Bond glue.

You were talking him through helping you finish the install because you just didn't have the energy to do it.

“Okay you gon’ take a lil piece and wrap it around the wand. But please be careful baby. This one goes from like 0 to a 400 degrees so fast.” you warn and watch in the mirror as he takes the first piece and follows your instructions.

You watch him for a while focusing on your head and asking if you liked the way that it’s turning out. You smile softly at him and nod.

“I'm so grateful , you know. “ you say to him with a pout

“Damn, I was just about to send you a do you like me back yes or no text after this too.” he jokes and you shake your head.

“I’m tryna be serious and appreciate you-” you are cut off by him leaning down and pushing his plump lips out for a kiss from you

“I love you too. 2 more weeks and I get to have my two babies in my arms. What more could I want? ”

The warm summer air was blowing through the windows, shining warmly through the sunroof of the car as Akaashi drove, the two of you finally free of high school, spending the summer together before things got busy to prepare for college

this was really happening 

you two were done with public school and it was the first step into the world. The end of a chapter 

The sun felt so good on your skin, you felt good, the weather and day was beautiful 

The two of your bellies were full from the lunch the two of you had and now he drove you around, not having a final destination just yet 

Rolling up your windows, it was time to cool down a bit more with the cold air of the air conditioner and turned on the radio 

Just as it turned on, it was already playing a song that fit the summer vibes perfectly. you felt good, you felt loose so you let it all go 

You sang along, your voice shining over the radio to the song 

The car came to a stop at the red light and you looked over to Akaashi, a surprised look on his face

he hadn’t ever heard you sing in front of him 

he caught you once but when he came into the room, you stopped immediately, shying away but he loved it. Hearing you speak and talk in so many ways was one thing but this was entirely different in the best way possible 

but nothing mattered. there was nothing to be shy about 

“I wanna be somebody to someone,” you sang to him. “And if the sun’s upset and the sky goes cold, then if the clouds get heavy and start to fall, i really need somebody to call my own, I wanna be somebody to someone.” 

You gave him eyes as if you were pleading him to accept you as someone to him as if you two haven’t been together since your second year of high school 

A smile tugged at his lips before he accelerated, driving into his neighborhood 

You sang along joyously, squeezing your eyes shut every now and then, dramatically looking over to him, serenading him singing along to the loving song 

As you sang out the final note holding your hands folded over your chest, pretending to dramatically clutch it, it made him let out a little chuckle as he turned off the ignition

“Well good thing you’re already someone to me,” he said, smiling, making you squee

Ushijima: La Da Dee - Cody Simpson

Gray clouds blocked out the sunshine, rain fell from the clouds and washed over the car as the two of you sat in his car, driving to the mall to walk around 

There was nothing else to do at home really and you were cooped up in there far too long (it was only a day aksdjha) 

the outside world looked so gloomy, you just had to change it you connected your phone to the aux in his car 

you were going to play something upbeat but fbi agent beat you to it. Your phone automatically played one of the sweetest songs on your phone 

To brighten things up even more, you sang along to the singer’s voice, putting as much love as you could into every word, sending to Ushi’s direction as he focused on driving 

“La da dee, La da dee doo, La da da me, La da da you, La da dee, La da dee doo, There's only me, There's only you, La da dee, La da dee doo, La da da me, La da da you, La da dee, La da dee doo, When you were gone I think of you,” you jutted your lip out at the end, thinking about the times he would have to leave and come back late for a game or even longer, a tournament 

The lyrics were repetitive and the voice so smooth but all ushi could hear was you as he drove carefully through the rain 

You bobbed your head side to side in your seat, singing along to the lyrics that flooded your mind with ease 

Head empty, just lyrics coming from your mouth as you sung along 

Your voice was so smooth and soothing in a different way 

he didn’t notice that you didn’t sing around him but he really liked the way you sounded 

the aura your person was emanating was so cheerful, it put the sun to shame 

Nearing the mall, you sang the final words, looking at his side profile. “When you were gone, I think of you...” 

You paused the next song before it could play, finding another one that could match the energy the first song put out but Ushi was first to break the silence before any other song could play 

“You have a lovely voice, Y/N. It’s very pleasant.” He rested one hand on your thigh, giving you a little squeeze before returning it to the steering wheel (cause he’s a safe driver)

“...And I always think about you too when I’m not home.” he said, his voice straight but you saw the lightest bits of red tickling his ears pink 

You let out an aw at his confession, surprised he said it since you were only singing the lyrics but went on with it anyways 

but for him, the thing was, you never left his mind 

Boktuo: Still Into You - Paramore

Crickets chirped outside the car in the grass beside it

The sky was clear and stars shined all over the night sky with a cool breeze, making the tree that the two of you sat under sway 

Your tastebuds tasted the cool, sweet dessert of popsicles melt on your tongues, the windows of his car rolled down, music playing from the radio not too loudly 

Bokuto today recently looked pretty down but you couldn’t place a finger as to why 

The Jackals won their game last night, you made a special dinner to celebrate tonight and today, the two of you had been together all day 

you sat close beside him, looking to the skyline in the distance, the grass tickling your legs and hands but the air tonight felt so nice

it felt so clean and clear unlike the city 

“do... do you still love me?” his sad voice pulled your attention and the sight practically broke your heart 

he sadly ate his popsicle, his hair droopy and sad like he was as he ate his popsicle 

“Aw Bo, of course I do,” you gave him a loving smile which made him feel a little better but his doubts rang in his head and you could see it

You scratched your mind, thinking of how you could really emphasize your words, getting it across that you did love him and that was when your ears picked up on the song playing on the radio 

It was the perfect song to be playing right now so you sang along with it

“Some things just, some things just make sense and one of those is you and I,” you sang, rubbing your hand on his cheek as you sang those last three words

“Some things just, some things just make sense and even after all this time.” You rubbed your thumb over his cheeks, not giving a care in the world as your popsicle dripped over your hand and onto the ground 

“I’m into you,” you brought your lips close to his, giving him a sweet kiss, getting a taste of his sweet treat and he could taste yours 

Everything was so sweet as the singer’s voice belted to the song, the drums and guitars starting back up 

Pulling back, you continued to sing as his other hand cupped your face, his eyes filled with lust as he stared at your lips, wanting more

“I’m into you, I’m into you, I’m into you,” the song ended, your voice sweeter than any treat in his ears 

You teased him, giving him a peck

“Did that answer your question?” you leaned back, sitting down beside him, wiping your hands with a wet wipe from the plastic bag you brought along with a few other, non frozen snacks 

“Could you answer it for me again?” he asked smoothly but his cool guy facade went away when he saw your popsicle and his was gone. “Can I also finish that?” His eyes sparkled, the sadness that clouded his eyes long gone 

Kuroo: Ruin My Life - Zara Larsson

The storm was coming down hard over the car, mixed with hail, it made you feel like the storm was going to blow the car over 

but Kuroo told you it was impossible 

The two of you laid in his backseat, your body on his, the car dark from not being powered completely, only enough to have the radio on

It was parked outside his house but the storm was too intense for the two of you to leave according to him, but you had a vague idea of what he was getting at 

the radio played softly, you were warm wearing his club jacket that was baggy on you 

He started with simple conversations, the two of your minds straying all over, talking about anything and everything 

His hands traveled around your waist, rubbing your back but as things got quieter, his sly fingers found their way beneath your shirt, his touch featherlike as he drew circles into your warm skin 

he took in the way you looked in the dark, taking the way you felt, how your body felt on top of his, the way your hair tickled his chest 

With no words exchanged, he brought his lips to yours with a subtle hunger, his hand creeping higher up your back 

Your hands that rested on his chest now rested around the back of his head, you now sat, straddling him the best you could in the cramped car 

His tongue wiped over your lip, getting you to open yours, inviting his tongue in 

You hummed as the two of you kissed, the sound of the storm disappearing and the sound of the radio getting louder without the volume being adjusted at all 

His mouth trailed down your jaw to your neck, tickling you just the slightest 

“Can you sing for me, baby?” he mumbled into your honey skin, loving the fact at how he could send chills through your body with just his lips and voice alone 

Obeying, you sang along. “I want you to ruin my life, you to ruin my life, you to ruin my life, yeah...” 

your voice was so silky and sensual in his ear, he loved it. it drove him a little crazy but instead of telling you, he was determined to show you, specifically when the storm lightened up

Bonus: 

Your back was suddenly met with the cold wall, your bodies and clothes soaked with water from the rain but it didn’t matter to either of you 

All he could feel was you and all you could feel was him 

your laps were wrapped around his waist as he harshly moved his lips with yours, knowing you would already be bruised by morning 

He supported you with one leg bent against the wall beneath your bottom, one hand on the wall beside you while the other held your waist as if you were gonna leave his grasp 

Your hands combed through his wet raven hair, biting back small moans that tried to escape your throat, being quiet as his dad was upstairs sleeping 

“I’ll ruin you...” he said lowly, breaking away, his breath hot on your face

New Theories for “Let’s Get Dangerous!”

Just hear me out, ‘kay?

Something seems awfully fishy after watching the promos and clips... particularly, this bit:

We saw in the promo that Zan Owlson is now the mayor of St. Canard. 

Now, my first thought after this clip was, “Shoot dang, I gotta suspend a LOT of disbelief, even for a cartoon, if I’m gonna believe simply getting a new mayor would completely get rid of crime overnight.” 

After all, if it’s a city full of criminals, they’re not going to have the moral compass to elect someone who’s actually... you know... good. Second, no politician can completely stop crime. What kind of message is that for kids? “If there are crimes, it’s the fault of the politician in office, not the fault of the criminal. A good politician will eliminate crime.” Ummm nerp. Everyone is responsible for their own actions.

BUT

Soap box aside...

We know there are crimes going on. In another clip, Gosalyn explained that her grandfather, Dr. Waddlemeyer, went missing after he tried to warn Taurus Bulba about the Ram-Rod’s instability. Plus, we all know Bulba is a villain. We’ve got the old cartoon and the DT17 show creators have already gushed about their voice actor’s Taurus Bulba performance and how he can go back and forth from friendly to evil so well.

Anyway, for a magical cartoon super computer to be able to scan a city for crime so a superhero knows where to go, that computer would surely detect Bulba’s crimes, right?

This sounds very “There is no war in Ba Sing Se,” to me. 

And I can’t help but notice that “WANDA” is voiced by Jameela Jamil, the voice of Gandra, who is a big tech nerd working for F.O.W.L. 

What can tech nerds do? Make computers. What can spies do? Mimic an accent from across the pond (we’ve seen Beakley do an American accent already back in “Jaw$!”). 

And let’s revisit the plot synopsis for “Let’s Get Dangerous!” shall we?

“Darkwing gains an unlikely sidekick as he uncovers a dark conspiracy tied to the Missing Mysteries and one of Scrooge’s employees.”

We know this is when the family will realize F.O.W.L. is after them, because the very next episode, “Escape from the Impossibin!” has the synopsis: “With F.O.W.L. at their heels, Scrooge tests out the Money Bin’s new security system on Louie and Della, while Beakley and Webby train the others for an enemy attack.”

“Let’s Get Dangerous!” is definitely an episode that has a lot to do with the F.O.W.L. plot. And Taurus Bulba is very likely a F.O.W.L. agent, and WANDA...? I’m wondering if it/she was created and programmed by none other than Gandra Dee herself, and that’s not just Jameela Jamil’s voice, but Gandra’s. Maybe Gandra is to WANDA as Susan Bennett is to Siri (not that Bennet programed Siri, but she was the original voice). 

Also, going back to Owlson for a sec, Frank teased earlier about double agents. It’s a bit out there and not connected to other details, but what if she’s a S.H.U.S.H. agent and F.O.W.L. thinks she’s a F.O.W.L. agent who joined because she’s so flipping sick of Scrooge’s nonsense? 0.o

But mainly yeah I think the computer is evil and lying to Darkwing Duck and saying there is no crime when obviously there is because the last thing F.O.W.L. wants is a superhero in the haven of villainy that is St. Canard.

“Homeworld Bound” Thoughts:

I wasn’t going to watch this one today, but then I realized that I really missed the Diamonds and wanted to consume novel content, so!

OOH, good on the show for taking us directly to the aftermath of “Fragments” instead of putting space between the episodes. That’s just... a really good choice narrative wise.

Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl’s expressions are so distressing here. He’s been gone for three days; they must’ve been so worried.

Jasper steps aside to reveal an absolutely ruined Steven.

He just technically killed a gem and then resurrected her. How intensely will that forever lie on his psyche? Oh my g od

NO, NOT JASPER PASSIVELY MAKING THE DIAMOND SIGN IN THE BACKGROUND AUGH

“You can’t just disappear for days without telling us!”

Steven silent walking up to the Observatory as the Gems continue to freak the fuck out is harrowing. And Dee Dee Magno Hall is killing it with her voice acting here. The simultaneous fear and anger and horror in her voice. Oh my g d

“You guys... I love you, but you can’t help me anymore. I’ve been avoiding the only people in the entire universe who can.” 🥺 This is sad, but I’m also, like, problematic grandmas time!!!!!

“Find something better to do with your life.” God, Jasper’s look of disbelief and sadness here. I didn’t really delve into this during my “Fragments” watch because I was just roridoodwrjfkrkeke reeling, but her reaction to being accidentally shattered is psychologically devastating???? I’d wager that she simultaneously respects the fact that she’s been subjugated by a being more powerful than her, that she’s grateful to Steven for being both subjugator and savior, and likely, she’s conflating this new loyalty with her former loyalty for Pink. This is a really complex psyche (a tragic one most of all).

Garnet: “Steven, remember, we’ll always be your family.” I’m so fucki n emo

AWHWHWH, HOMEWORLD IS SO BRIGHT AND COLORFUL NOW!!!

Can u imagine being a wall cursed with sentience. that is so funny on so many levels

But it’s also really interesting, too. If the Wall Gem is a gem in the way say Topazes are gems, which, judging by her mobility, she is—then her explicit purpose in Era 1-2, as molded by presumably Yellow, was to b a wall omg. (Or, arguably, I think it can be argued that the inanimate object Gems, like Comby, were probably accidental sentient creations, made in relationship to their proximity to the Diamonds during their various secretion rituals!!)

Anyway, I love thinking about Homeworld worldbuilding. It’s fascinating.

One thing I have loved the Crewniverse so much for doing is never taking away the physical signs of gems’ mental distress, even after they’ve gotten better: Blue’s eye bags, Volleyball’s eye, Spinel’s running mascara. That is so important.

“I can permanently alter any physical form!” She’s so proud of herself. 😭😭😭 I fuckin’ love her.

“If anything’s out of proportion, it’s your temper. You can be big if you want to, or you can be small if you want to, but if you’re going to be upset no matter what, then this problem isn’t physical—it’s emotional. Go see Blue.”

I really like her advice here because it’s advice that comments so clearly on her own character arc. At her lowest, she was quick to anger, aggressive, and temperamental, which she diagnoses in Steven here. Additionally, she was the Diamond who was concerned largely with physical actions. She coped by maintaining the Empire through conquering planets and maintaining the minutiae of leadership; she thought the only way to receive justice for Pink was through the physical act of destruction. And in doing so, she pushed her own emotions deep, deep down until they manifested in anger, aggressiveness, and temperamental outbursts. This hurt the people she cared about, and it hurt herself most of all.

Also, “Go see Blue. That is her department.” Ejdoiddjdjjsjdjdks, “go see ur other grandma.”

BLUE FLOATING ON A CLOUD!!!!!

“Your powers have been causing you dramatic mood swings? That seems awfully troubling Steven.” God I love her

“You don’t seem troubled.” This is a really interesting line because it comments on how Blue’s emotions, especially her negatively charged ones, used to be so visible all over her; indeed, she both wittingly and actively used to project them on other Gems, forcing them to feel her suffering, too.

Another thing I’ve appreciated about the writing in this episode: So far, both Blue and Yellow have used the adjective awful to describe their former actions. It’s the self-awareness and the refusal to try to excuse themselves that powerfully shows how much they’ve grown. And it’s their continuous endeavors to keep moving forward, to help the Gems that they’ve hurt, that indicates that they’re willing to constantly keep growing and atoning.

And I think there’s something powerful in her distinction between true happiness and self-worth. You can’t find one without espousing the other.

And that’s another thing that this episode has called to mind. Blue, Yellow, and White alike once used their insane powers to hurt other Gems and to hurt themselves, and here, throughout this series, we see Steven discovering that same capacity for destruction and self-destruction. Along with the systematic oppressions they facilitated, a big part of the Diamonds’ modus operandi was that their powers were directly correlated to their mental states and their various inabilities to confront their own selves and effect inner change. The corrective wasn’t necessarily Steven; the corrective was him helping them to do that initial act of introspection and looking inwards. And so, too, will Steven have to do the same by the end of this series. But I presume that his family, all the people and gems who have loved and cared for him, will in effect be his Steven, just as he has always been for them.

“Half a Diamond, half a creature of Earth—in all the universe there's no one else that could know what you’re going through, so maybe it's time you talked to yourself.” This is so viscerally sad. White hits the nail on the head here. Steven’s human friends/family and his gem family and even the Diamonds, who come the closest to matching his own strength, can never fully understand him. It’s the tension that underscores a lot, if not the entire show.

White briefly touches Steven with her nail, and you can viscerally see the trauma on his face; he hasn’t forgotten her act above all, wrenching his gem out, nearly killing him.

“I’m... I’m a Diamond.” Steven, in looking at White Diamond, realizes that she’s a mirror of himself. Holy fucking shit

Ok at this point I think Im just gonna go in reverse for ranking shows so y’all gonna have to wait until I have time if Im ever gonna get to AVPM. Anyways here is TGWDLM song ranking its pretty controversial btw, maybe (definitely) more than my Black Friday one.

14. What Do You Want, Paul (okay so love Jeff but this song creeps the hell out out of me so I don’t like listening to it that much. its hilarious but a little too much for me like 1 min in)

13. Let Him Come (so its great we love the choreography just ridiculously short. Jeff and Jaime singing together is amazing tho so we stan)

12. You Tied Up My Heart (I like this more than What Do You Want cuz its more fun and Jaime is FUCKING hilarious I could watch just her every day in that song I DIE. Jeff slaps too but I like other numbers a lot more)

I could listen to the homeless dude on repeat forever. this song is hilarious and it also makes Paul nervous enough to talk to his co workers and omg genius Jeff Blim and Nick and Matt)

The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals (ok so this song has a special place in my heart cuz I was a fan of StarKid for a while but in high school I kinda forgot abt it cuz school. during quarantine I came across this song in my recommended on YouTube and I fell in love w/ StarKid all over again. anyway story time over I love all of the solos in this song Jaime Corey Joey and Mariah slap and genius Jeff is hilarious I DIE at Jon’s false entry every time w/o fail)

8. Cup of Roasted Coffee (ok so Lauren cracks me up every time we stan an uninterested queen. Jaime’s solo and the whole decaf thing is HILARIOUS HER FACE LOL. also all three of them blend so well in this song like its amazing we stan the girls of TGWDLM)

7. Not Your Seed (once again, Mariah SLAYS. this song is so amazing and also so emotional just watch Corey the entire time you WILL cry. also once again choreography is amazing and catchy and fairly simple we love learning it. Mariah’s vocals dominate and this song made me fall in love with her before La Dee Dah. also HARMONIES yayayay we love Jeff Blim music)

Let it Out (ok so the solo’s at the beginning of this are amazing we love Jaime and Robert and everyone also the brushing and feeling up Jon is hilarious I die. also POP OFF JON. his voice is so amazing and iconic and the struggle is real cuz like I wanna rave his singing but its nOT GOOD that he's singing but like GO JON)

America is Great Again (ok so I love Jeff (incase you couldn’t tell) and this is HIS SONG also the harmonizing background vocals that say whoa or war or who the fuck knows anymore its amazing who cares. also Jeff’s smugness throughout this entire song makes me DIE. choreography is also amazing as you can tell I appreciate great choreography. the whole thing with choking Jon is so cool looking omg also Joey’s face is fucking hilarious cuz he's the only face you can see besides Jeff and its rlly funny lol but rip Ted)

4. Show Me Your Hands (ok so I hate Sam (Jeffs character) but this song is amazing and funny and sad all in one so iconic. again choreography slaps. also vocals slap like go off Jeff Mariah Robert. the terror on everyone else's face is amazing we stan good acting. also Jeff is low-key terrifying but also hilarious we love dimensions in a character. ICONIC)

3. Cup of Poisoned Coffee (ok soooooooo. rlly short but honestly slaps. the harmonies Mariah and Robert at the end and JAIME’S HIPS also Corey messing up the choreo (almost) kills me. I could honestly listen to this thirty second song on repeat and I HAVE so, number 3)

Inevitable (this is essentially TGWDLM version of a mega mix plus some and I am HERE FOR IT. this is pure example of Jeff Blim’s genius writing and the songs flow seamlessly into one another and I stan. also jON. and the kick line is the most innovative kick line I have ever seen and I am HERE FOR IT. we love choreography we stan James and Lauren’s choreography I love this show. also this song is low-key terrifying but also so amazing at the same time and the holy shit moment at the beginning is like......)
