I feel like if Dipper were ever reincarnated as a demon, he wouldn't fit in super well with the others. Yes, he's been raised to vie for power and step on everyone in his way using whatever means is necessary - it's the same toxic bizz as when he was a human, appealing to gender norms. He's tougher, scarier, more powerful (than ordinary humans, that is), but when it comes to asserting control - being Evil - he doesn't have it in him. Given enough time, I think he'd grow pretty vocal about leaving living things alone. NOT torturing organisms for the hell of it, or stealing people's souls, or conquering planets. Sure, he's a demon. That's no excuse to be a MONSTER.
It's a VERY unpopular opinion amongst neighboring demons, and rumor spreads fast about the Goody Two-Shoed Activist imp raining on everyone's blood-splattered parade, so much so that it makes it to Bill, who's immediately intrigued. Call it intuition, but only one soul's capable of overriding goddamn demon nature for some preachy bullshit about "Doing Good." Lucky for him, demons occupy the same plane of existence, so all it really takes to verify the guy is a snap of his fingers, and POOF! He's floating right next to him. Sure enough, Dipper's fashioned himself a new and improved demonic form, and it is lovely!
No one likes Dipper's kumbaya "Can't We All Just Get Along" ideology, but Bill's almost instantly smitten with the guy, whoever he is, so he's gotta be at least somewhat powerful. Demons take notice when the all-powerful Bill Cipher starts lending his time (and magic?) to some low-leveler like Dipper. Is he being blackmailed? Are they working together? No. Not possible. Bill doesn't "work" with anyone, save for whatever human catches his eye every few decades. Doesn't look to be doing him any benefit, either. The opposite, even. Lending power to a saint like Dipper only makes it harder to cause chaos, after all. Why would he actively go against his OWN best interest to cater some imp's? It's almost like he's. He's.
A henchmen.
(Bill's also 30% more affectionate the first month they reunite, because he still can't believe that his adorable little human husband came back as the same SPECIES as him! He'd never complain over having a sweet human to squeeze, but one with teeth and claws and cute pointy ears doesn't hurt).
Tumblr media
#answers#I can't help but picture demon dipper starting out all like#I'm Bad 😡 I'm Mean 😡 I'm Evil As Heck!! 😡#And still having a HUGE hatred for things that are Unfair or Unjust. One time he saved a kitten from a tree and got embarrassed about it#Eventually he just has to give into his nature and speak up about all the BULLSHIT he sees going on around him#Sorry Dippin' Dots even the society that 'raised' you can't prevent you from your do-gooder ways#Don't worry Bill loves you for the stupid idiot you are#Everyone is completely BAFFLED by Bill acting like a friggin' henchman though#I bet they don't even peg it as romantic interest at first. Dipper sure doesn't#He's thinking this is some Grand Scheme to convince him back into the evil fold#And to be fair Bill's very tempting in that respect. But not leaning as hard into it as he *could* be#Maybe he thinks Bill's trying to 'mentor' him for something. Seems like the kind of thing Bill would imply and let Dipper fill in the gaps#They're technically not the same SPECIES since Dipper's probably some human-shaped 'demon'#And Bill's originally from a two-dimensional weird universe. Technically speaking he's His Own Thing#Aside from whatever refugees escaped that plane. If any.#Demon covers a LOT of different beings that don't have much or any genetics in common#But you KNOW Bill's thrilled as hell that Dipper's Slightly More Immortal than usual!! This one's gonna last a WHILE#*slams fist on table* Give Dipper A Tail With A Tuft That Bill Can Pull To Be Annoying#Final thought: In this incarnation Bill might have been wondering where the hell Dipper got to since there's no human around#Given a long enough time he might even wonder if he was LOST#So you know that when Dipper reemerges on the scene everyone else was dealing with a VERY unhappy Bill Cipher for QUITE a while

If I had a nickel for every time a modern-day, shrine dwelling, Japanese school girl with spiritual powers went time traveling 500 years into the past and garnered the affection of an irritable white haired, canine-adjacent demon character, I’d have 2 nickels.

i just had a thought - what if… Kotaro was a normal healthy loving parent until he met AFO and as they interacted more and more Kotaros feelings for his mom (Shimura) twisted towards hatred… meaning AFO was also the reason for the abuse Kotaro put Tenko through… while now knowing AFO convinced Kotaro to have Tenko in the first place… and another reason that he couldnt do it with his older sister is bc she was already brought up in a whole and loving household… so he planted seeds of hatred in Kotaro to take out on Tenko… and Shimura died thinking Kotaro always hated her and she was the reason he was like that… when in reality it was AFO…. i’m - (it’s important to mention that it’s canon that Koatros favorite things are his family listed by name and his mom was one of them listed)

i've spent the entire evening thinking about hunter going to find luz in the princess AU worst timeline without vee.
the thing about it is: luz has had several months of living in the human realm while thinking that hunter is dead. this has taken an Intense physical toll on her. camila is doing her Absolute Best to be patient and kind and accommodating of luz's Ten Million Issues, but luz isn't talking to anyone about what she went through, and she's not adapting to life at home or getting better despite presumably having like eight different types of regular therapy and a social worker and eight different doctors and whatever else a locked-in-a-basement-for-thirteen-years kid would need.
so like. hunter tracks luz down after months without any contact with her or any knowledge about how she's doing. it presumably takes this long because he just survived an execution attempt that left him dead enough for belos to consider the job finished. there was SOME kind of long recovery involved
and when he does find luz, she's living with a stranger who has 'parental authority' over her, and she's SO thin and tired and her hair is a mess and she looks So Unbelievably Sick....
like. i don't think hunter would go to "grief" as the first explanation. (even with luz having an immediate and complete nuclear meltdown when she sees him.) i think hunter would have the exact same reaction to camila that he does in the main AU timeline, of "i see this lady has been worse to you than belos. i am going to be normal about this"
hunter being very keen on following camila's household rules and making it repeatedly clear that he doesn't want to cause any trouble, & then whenever camila leaves the room, just being like "luz. let's just go. Let's Just Goooo. we don't even have to go back to the castle luz listen. you can look like a witch with a concealment stone let's just build a house in the woods and plant a garden and never talk to anyone again. luz i swear to god Let's Just Go-"

So, I bought the second volume to tgci because I needed more content in my life after the ending of season two (plus I wanted to be ahead of the anime in case they ever release a season 3), and while I read it I decided to watch The Untamed because I wanted to see if I'd like mxtx's other stuff. This was my first mistake. I got so into it that I marathoned the show whenever I had free time and quickly got obsessed with it to the point I bought the first volume to mdzs.
I decided that I was going to read both volumes at the same time because I wanted to get through both. My dumbass didn't learn from my first mistake because I then proceeded to ONLY read mdzs and finished it in three days. The only reason it wasn't sooner is because I unfortunately have obligations during the week.
Anyway, mdzs is my life now and I'm gonna go draw the drunk scene from the first book while I try to be responsible and not buy the second volume with the rest of my money.

Spoilers for Reforming a Sadism Demon
VEGA- MY LOVE- MY SWEET- HE IS BACK AND HE IS BROKEN AND THIS IS HORRIFYING. And also I have some retrospectives on a bunch of theories I had/saw that were proven/disproven in this video. Starting with disrpoven theories, then proven, ones, then some additional lore.
Disproven: This incident happened before Inversion.
This is the first time I think it was mentioned that the Closeknit branch in Dahlia is the ONLY ONE THERE. There have been mentions of other branches, but I don't think it's ever been explicitly stated that there's only 1 in Dahlia unless it was in the very very first or second Blake video. I believed due to the timeline it could make sense this happened a bit before Inversion, but Vega coming back may be after? Or it happen around the same time as Inversion did. However, this is not possible since Closeknit was fully operational when the Inversion struck. They only abandoned ship after Blake sacrificed himself, and Elliot got that location reported, both of which happened at least a week after the Inversion based on the site timeline. I am a bit sad about that however it makes sense that adding Vega in retroactively may be a pain, and frankly he has more than enough to feed on in the aftermath regardless, for years at least surely. :P.
Proven: Vega was the very first Sadism Daemon.
This is VERY FUCKING COOL AND I LOVE THAT SO MUCH AND HATE IT IN EQUAL MEASURE. Obviously this explains a lot about him. He is old, he is strong, he has seen the world and has known the taste of pure magic and was obviously a very very powerful fighter, who likely had been hurt, abandoned or betrayed many many times. And it explains why he feels the burden of remembrance is on him. He is one of the first Daemons EVERY. The Chorus are likely some of the only Daemons around his age and who's to say how much of their memory they still hold. But I am glad it was confirmed that's what Anacrusis meant :P. Also the fact that
Also man- Warden and Vega and Hush meeting again happened sooner than I thought- I cannot even imagine the whiplash. Poor Warden :(((.
Semi Proven?: Hush's connection to the Sovereigns/Meridian.
Hush is an Egregore, which is an entity brought to life by force of thought alone. While it's unclear yet WHICH sovereign(s) he is connected to, I stick with my theory that he is more closely tied to the pair in the Meridian. It is unlikely that the dreams of gods trapped below the river could form something so whole, and so HUMAN. Also Hush's connection to Avior, as I wrote about before, makes me think this as well. He may well be formed from the idea of Avior, and from his and Starlight's years of hell. Their agragate humanity collected, and their concept, their personalities, their very being as physical creatures gave the idea to Min'ara and E'laetum. Again, technically not proven TRUE, but now it is very clear what Hush is at least. He is a creation of Sovereigns, created VERY recently (likely around the time of Inversion, and specifically after it) from the emptiness that always has been.
And now Additional thoughts:
"Vega. Stellar-formed, Congruent of D’Deridahn, bound in his Madrigal. Anacrusis of his Phrase. First-formed of Gravity." is Vega's full title. Now, what I find interesting is this comment about Gravity. This could technically mean 2 things.
1. Literally it's just a restatement of his being first formed. As in he was the first star who collected enough particles and gravitational force to fully coallese from the stardust.
And/Or
2. D’Deridahn is actually the Sovereign of Sadism Daemons, and Gravitons. It has been confirmed that we don't know of every sovereign or type of daemon, but it's pretty well accepted that each sovereign ruled over one magical domain of humanity, and one daemonic type. So Rak'Xit is the creator of the Inchoate, and his sacrifice is what created freelancers and is the reason why they're so much more common than other empowered groups. A'Xerahn is the Sovereign of all Concubi, and also created Vampires. Now, these two make sense, of course. And we don't know exactly which sovereign matched up to which magic type and Daemon. We know one, and in rare cases, both. But this connection between feeding off human cruelty and gravity has some merit to me. Gravity is all about strength, and power. Gravity pulls on everything around it, and the heavier an object is, the more pull it has, and the more things it can collect upon itself, further increasing it's mass and gravity. But at a point, gravity is a risk. It can pull towards it things which are destructive. Fast, heavy, or both. It can crush and crumble, burn and eventually explode in it's own strength, creating stars, supernovas... and black holes. It is powerful, and keeps things as we know it on earth in line, but it is also destructive if unchecked. And Cruelty is the same. It exists in every person, to some extent, and some level of cruelty is natural, and even needed. Envy, schadenfreude, and so forth are pretty common in people, and can actually help humans coexist. But when someone is cruel enough, they impose themselves on others. They collect people whom they have hurt, and can hurt around them, and it brings risks. Because those people CAN leave... if they're strong enough. Or they can lure someone too strong, who brings them down. Or they may simply destroy themselves through their cruelty to others, or to themselves... just as Gravity would. Maybe it's a bit too philosophical but it makes sense.
And it well could be both. I'll have to see. I didn't get to finish the Blake video so I may update if there's anything substantial in this connection in that video, proving or disproving it. But I have a feeling there won't be much.
But yeah. This new lore is great >:333. Also love that Doc was right about how Vega would be angry at being brought back. And the whole "You are young, shortsighted, and short remembered. Find one who has known me longer" is so good. Vega is back on that wordiness >:3333. WARDEN GOT THE SPOOK OF THEIR LIFE AND THEN IS GETTING ANOTHER WITH A WEIRD VEGA IN TOW- I wonder how their relationship will reform... this feels like that whole "If I lost all my memories, what's the first thing you'd tell me about myself" kind of deals and I am HERE FOR IT.
Also honestly... I love this arc. While more... literal, it expands upon the concept Vega explained of "The Vega that crawled out of that Elission well, is not the one that stands before you today." I mean he LITERALLY DIED, and was put back together incomplete, with many memories lost... but he still kept those oldest ones. Probably not all the ones he wished to keep, obviously. Many of his important memories are implied to be VERY painful... but this does kind of show his determination, even without knowing himself, that he has to remember. To be the keeper of all that knowledge, to be the keeper of all that HURT that made him him and made the world as it is, because it MATTERS to him. And I hope if/when he does get even a fraction of his old memories, or even just an idea of what they were, back... that he is able to grow from the pain... into someone even greater. :,)) And Warden too.

Shock and surprise, I'm thinking about Good Omens season 2 again. (Spoilers under the cut, this is a long one).
Specifically the scene in episode 2 at the pub, where Crowley and Aziraphale are planning on how to get Nina and Maggie together.
And I thought it was interesting the verbage Crowley used to describe his plan.
"They get trapped under a canopy together by a storm, look into each other's eyes, and realize they were made for each other".
Obviously, we all know as an audience that Maggie and Nina's relationship is essentially Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship's mirror, with Maggie standing in for Aziraphale and Nina for Crowley.
We also know, as the audience, that Crowley immediately went with this scenario as the perfect romantic scene because it directly parallels the moment he fell in love with Aziraphale.
Which is why the last bit of that phrase struck me as odd.
"Made for each other" is such a... Human expression. It's not something that Crowley, who doesn't read often and couldn't even remember the expression "like water off a duck's back" in season 1, would use unless he meant it literally.
Especially in the context of his and Aziraphale's relationship? It's fishy.
And then I thought some more and realized that, inadvertently or not, Crowley did in fact mean it literally.
I had been thinking about Crowley's Fall a lot recently, and it always really struck me as odd.
Crowley, as has been established, Fell because he questioned God's judgement in destroying the universe after 6000 years. Sure, right, sounds like God. He's been a demon since.
Aziraphale on the other hand, who has remained an angel for millions of years... Hasn't crossed God that badly at all? Not once since the beginning of Creation?
Sure, She got mad about the sword, but like, Aziraphale has done things that angels very much are not allowed to do!
He was tempted, by a demon, to eat human food (which seemingly disgusts other angels). He regularly converses with said demon and has, on multiple occasions, allowed that demon to rescue and even thwart his attempts to bring Good into the world (which She very likely saw and didn't say anything about). For fuck's sake, he and that very demon worked together and stopped the end of the world, and their only punishment was to be destroyed which they both got the other out of (and again, if She really did want them both destroyed, She very much could have done it Herself).
So why didn't She? Why has Aziraphale somehow remained in God's good graces? Why have he and Crowley seemingly avoided Her wrath time after time after time?
I can't say for sure, but I have a feeling that it's part of, for lack of better terms, Her Ineffable Plan. She created Aziraphale and Crowley, forced Crowley out of Heaven, did away with him, and then put them both on Earth, for reasons I'm not entirely clear on and don't want to even begin to speculate on.
So, yes Crowley. It would be great if our two protagonists realized they were, with no exaggeration or metaphor, literally made for each other, wouldn't it?
But it's clear it has something that relies on Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship as a demon and an angel. She cast out Crowley for the minor-est offence the second She got the chance and now turns a blind eye to every single sin Aziraphale commits (and there are quite a lot of them, like. A shit ton. It's astounding) because She needs them to be on "opposite sides". I'd be willing to bet good money that She is the reason Aziraphale of all angels was the one passing by the nebula when Crowley was working on it. After all, it is awfully convenient that the only angel we know for certain would let slip something like "By the way your work is going to be meaningless in less than 10,000 years because God is going to destroy the universe" to the angel literally in charge of designing and creating that universe, who also coincidentally is one of the few, what, thousand angels that would be so ballsy as to say "I could run Heaven 1000 times better than God"?

A Small Whisper of Salvation
Kamado Tanjiro/Shinazugawa Genya
Tags: Hashira | Pillars Training Arc (Kimetsu no Yaiba), Falling In Love, pining shinazugawa genya, Shinazugawa Genya is Whipped, but he doesn’t really realize it, Not Beta Read, Fluff and Angst, Denial of Feelings, First Crush, Shinazugawa Genya-Centric, Overthinking, Fist Fights, Tried to be as accurate to the scene as I could
Summary:
He’s thought about that moment more times than he could count. His words, that of his brother, the heartless assault whirling towards his eyes. Not a second has past since then that it hasn’t tortured him. An inferno blazed in his conscious, the clear disownment taunting Genya ruthlessly.
But his words challenged his own internal ones. The memory of those burly arms hitched protectively in front of him.. the shouts coming from his lips, speaking in defense of Genya.. the compassionate look he was given, burning right into his skull.
Why had Tanjiro put himself in danger for him? What’s the point of protecting him? Why can’t Genya forget about the words serenading his mind?
Or, Genya reflects on Tanjiro saving him from Sanemi, and can’t decide how to feel about it.
Word count: 2,107
Ao3 Link Here
It took a few beats to pass before the colors around him began to melt into place. The vivid flash of the sun’s rays beaming down onto his scarred flesh blinded him before his sense of recognition could clear. Last thing Genya could picture was the way he disappeared.. his brother’s frame vanishing to dust, a hazy blur of movement, a gust of wind funneling towards his eyes.
After that, the mess splattered everywhere. Pain surged up through his gut, the impact of the fall tanked by his untensed back. Nothing that couldn’t be brushed off after a moment — and for some reason, he felt as if that fall prevented a far worse pain he was milliseconds away from enduring.
Shouting buzzed in his eardrums, the easy tide of the mansion turned to a violent hurricane. Other slayers quickly recoiled from the door he had landed on, their eyes turned not to him, but to another force drawing near, looming above Genya and cackling incomprehensible threats. A weight pressed on Genya’s stomach, hands gripped his sides in a protective stance. Warmth boiled in the touch, and subtle squeeze of assurance rocketing across his nerves and turning them to jelly.. it all felt so foreign, how long had it been since he’s been held like that?
The mixture of aghast faces blurred together, the abundance of thoughts whirling through his head became too much to focus on — the weight pressing on his chest lifted off, and a single, serene voice drilled apparent in his ears.
If you say you’re not his brother, then I won’t let you get in Genya’s way! If he wasn’t around, then we wouldn’t have beat the upper moon!
A beaten, bruised body lay planted in front of him, arms stretched out to block anything except the sun’s light from peering behind. Rays glistened onto the figure, a mesmerizing aura radiating from tan, calloused skin, leaving Genya’s mouth agape and eyes enamored with scene playing out in front of him. Another phrase spat from the boy’s mouth like it was sworn to his core.
I won’t let you harm him in any way!
Tanjiro..
What are you doing? He wanted to ask, you’re only going to get yourself hurt, I’m not worth it, stay stuck in his throat. Thoughts raged like an uncontrolled flame, challenging the lit passion of the one shouting back at his brother in Genya’s defense.
For just one moment, the gash on Genya’s cheek didn’t hurt, the look of hatred from his brother didn’t burn in his memory, the chain clamped to his foot from the moment his mother left for work that day didn’t feel so heavy. Nothing was clear, everything in vision resembled a discarded canvas: A painter’s mistake that needed to be thrown out and redone. Colors mixed together, dripping down the sides and creating an ugly mush of a piece, an ugly mush of a life that lacked purpose of where to go. Himejima was too busy with training, his family’s home had been cold for years, his brother — no, the Wind Pillar, just tried to blind him.
Tanjiro had saved him.
And this sight — protected behind a thick wall of fury and compassion, someone willing to defend, cherish, and want him, might just be, dare he say, beautiful. Supple lips spoke with passion, coaxed with sweat and affection that burned right through Genya’s skin. Had those moments before meant more than just climbing to the top? The way Tanjiro stared back at him, not a trace of malice or alterier motive in his eyes, that was all real. Shimmering with respect, a color so deep that Genya found himself stammering with his words and meeting a fond gaze that still gave him goosebumps even now.
Thank you, Tanjiro.
The moments that passed seconds after were hazy. Aniki hurt Tanjiro in his place, scarring his sun kissed skin and causing a violent commotion. All Genya could do was shout and plead for mercy on his friend before being pulled away, his voice ignored and discarded.
Last Genya heard about Tanjiro was a ban on continuing training with the Wind Hashira, as well as approaching him at all. Of course, he only got that out of Himejima after enduring a harsh scolding and a prohibit on speaking to his brother ever again.
Great.
Tanjiro sent letters, many, actually. Before the incident, they were actively in contact, speaking through writing nearly everyday since Tanjiro had woken up. However after the incident, the letters of worry and concern sat cold on Genya’s desk. Read, obviously, but whenever his pen hit the paper, all the words whirling in his gut cast out like a breath he couldn’t suck back in. Even with no reply, the letters didn’t stop.
Normally, Genya’d brush it off as the dumb redhead being an insistent brat, but the image danced in his mind with each line he read from the page. Genya could picture the boy’s face in each word, his eyes drenched in concern, worry dripping from his lips in a pout, anxiously hoping for the sqwack of his crow to bring forth a response. Shit. Any idea of Tanjiro waiting to hear from him made Genya feel ill.
The knots in his stomach provoked gags feeling as if he was going to vomit. At first it raised concerns regarding his demon-eating habits, but was quickly dispelled when it got worse upon rereading the letters. It wasn’t like the redhead had a way with words. Cheeky kid, when finished with his barrels of questions of Genya’s wellbeing, talked about his day, the days of his friends, the days of training, hell, one page consisted fully about his curiosities on how Genya keeps his hair so spiked.
It made him sick.
Boulder training was starting up, and Genya struggled to get a hand on it. Repetitive Action made it flow smoother, but the nagging distraction leeching off his body wasn’t helpful. Tanjiro had told him before in his letters that “confiding in others can help you more than you realize!!", but it’s hard to do so when they flinch or scurry away when you get too close.
In the past, he used to pride himself on his scary exposition. But now, it’s just a nuisance. It got worse when Sanemi let people who witnessed the event move on to Himejima’s training. Combined with his other problems, now they were giving him pitiful stares.
He doesn’t need pity.
Prayers left the boy’s lips, his conscious focused on funneling it into his strength. The boulder was only a few centimeters shorter, yet intimidating nonetheless. It possessed strength that Genya couldn’t imagine coming half as close to, techniques he would never be able to learn, an ability to fight without residing in demon-eating.
Shit, he grumbled, bringing his mind back to the physical boulder. This isn’t the time.
Then when else was the time to think? His thoughts have been plagued by constant flashbacks to those few minutes, constant reminders at his failure to reconcile, CONSTANT images of Tanjiro leaping to protect him at a moments notice. He outsped a Hashira to protect Genya.
Why would he throw himself in danger for me?
A question he pondered more times than he could count. Sure, Tanjiro’s nice to everyone. Kid didn’t even think to scold the crazy boar guy for smashing right through his recovery window. When his face was being gnawed on, he just continued smiling and thanked the yellow-boy for something unrelated right after. Genya just tucked himself into his blankets and acted like he didn’t witness it.
To protect him so quickly whilst tackling the advances of a Hashira, his focus was on getting Genya out of there and to safety.
God.
Genya’s mind flashed through the moments.. when they bathed together, when he overheard Tanjiro worried about his meals, when he ended up bringing one to Genya’s room to share, when he protected Genya in battle countless times, when he let him atleast try to behead the demon when Genya’d been so nasty moments prior.
Why? He choked, hands on the boulder trembling, why go through all that trouble?
Genya felt like vomiting again.
Pants left his lips, his face blazing hot red from the violent sun. He wiped beads of sweat off his forehead, a foreign quiver in his hands. Was he sick? His chest isn’t suppose to be this tight, he wasn’t burning up moments ago, he wasn’t trembling since the heat of battle. Why did all these thoughts turn him so brittle? What about being safely protected hurt so badly? Tanjiro. Of course it’s Tanjiro that tortures his mind when he’s not even present.
“Tanjiro has this weird affect on others”, he remembered Zenitsu snarling as he led Genya away from the scene after things got more calmer. “He lures you in with flattery words then suffocates you with kindness and compassion until you die.”
Genya wouldn’t really put it like that. The way Zenitsu chose to describe it was more .. violent than it felt. Zenitsu complained about his “choking smile, torturous positivity, assault of concern and care”, but just as quickly would do a full switch to gushing about how amazing and lovely he was.
Sure, Genya could relate to the turmoil, never knowing how exactly to feel towards the redhead, especially after recent events. Though, nothing particularly aggressive came with his meetings with the kid. If he had to pick words, he’d describe it as resting your head right under a blossoming tree, mind taken away from the world crumbling back at home. Those moments they had back when they shared a room, talking and conversing freely, sent him right back to the rare peaceful hours, blissfully ignorant of the hell his father raged in the house.
A warm, aching sensation jabbed at his gut, spreading to his hands pushing desperately at the boulder. Shit. Part of him missed Tanjiro, eager to see him again once he climbs up the mountain to join Himejima’s training. Genya hated it. Long ago he had pushed away every feeling of mourning and longing, the nights sobbing about his family too much to bare. Who was Tanjiro? He’s just another slayer, a slayer who’s gotten too close to his heart. Genya shouldn’t miss him, he can’t miss him. That means he’s attached.
Who is he kidding? Of course he is. Every waking moment since Tanjiro tackled Genya out of the way has been filled with him. Genya’s been stuck in the eye, a blissful silence while the hurricane rages around them. He feels needed, important, useful—
If he wasn’t around, then we wouldn’t have beaten the Upper Moon!
“but Tanjiro”, he wants to say. “I couldn’t even protect myself from my brother. You had to do it for me.”
Is it so bad to rely on Tanjiro though? The butterfly sensation he felt in that moment still marinates in his gut. Does thinking about Tanjiro really make Genya feel sick? The feeling isn’t exactly unpleasant. It leeches onto his heart, his skin burning up at the memory. Tanjiro protected him, defended him, worried at his lack of response. Is Tanjiro thinking of him right now? Has he also been teased just like Genya has? The thought makes the raven groan.
Tanjiro..
Genya mumbles beneath his breath, the name pulling up a tiny smile. If his thanks can’t be written down, perhaps he’d find the words in person. Should he offer a meal? No, he can’t cook for shit. A gift? There’s nothing he can scrape up soon enough. Tanjiro deserves far more than whatever junk Genya has laying around. It’d just have to be himself. But strangely, Genya figured Tanjiro’d be satisfied with that.
He drew back the hands pressed against the boulder left the surface, sitting at his sides as he stepped back. The watercolored horizon lost its illumination, slowly darkening to a night sky. All of the other slayers had already turned in, eager for dinner and a break from their torturous labor. Maybe it was time for Genya to give himself a break too. He’s done enough thinking for one day.
One final time (or atleast, for now), Genya pictured that moment. That beautiful sight in front of him. He felt safe, wanted, protected, important..
Thank you, Tanjiro, he thought. I’ll see you soon, okay? I’m eternally grateful for all you’ve helped me.
He stepped towards the hut, navigating through the halls and to his own room. Before Genya’s realizes, he’s flopped onto bed, exhausted, a smile plastered on his face.
Perhaps, after Kibutsuji’s been defeated, we could become closer friends.

wanted to get this up before midnight but w/e :S
Penelope: you're not gonna like this but one've the only places we haven't searched is the no-go zone...
Betty: mrrrr
Penelope: You good? Betts?
Betty: sh. We are being watched.
(the no-go zone is the heart of the forest, some people haven't seen an accurate map of Ooo so I thought I'd clarify.)
“… should we apologize?”
“Hm?”
“She’s gonna remember this from both ends,” he grunts as Finn elbows him with a tired chortle, “you thought my identity crisis was bad.”
“Shut up, you’re so obnoxious.” Finn shakes his chin between his fingers playfully, then shrieks as freezing cold spray hits him— Fern turning the shower back on and cackling in his face. "Aw- aw man, come on! Fern!"
Fern's smug chuckling dies down as he hugs his double tightly, nuzzling into the skin behind his ear and grinning. Finn slaps him rapidly in the side until he shuts the water off. "Love you, too."
She jerks awake, blinking sweat from her eyes as her breath heaves quickly between her fangs and she holds her flesh hand to her chest, feeling her heart flutter and palpitate under her sternum. Her eyes water lightly, and she curls in on herself as she slowly wraps her arms around her knees, picking at the long scales of her elbows as shudders wrack over her spine. The hum of the generator hooked up to the hand-me-down trailer kicks on, and she nearly jumps out of her own skin.
Penelope rests her face in her hands and sighs as her emotions jumble up confusingly. The flashes of her past lives are becoming more consistent the closer she gets to the heart of the forest, though she’s unaware why.
Betty’s ear flicks in her sleep from her spot on the floor, exhausted from a day’s work of pulling their home. Her technicolor stripes light up and pulse in a gentle rhythm, making soft light reflect off of the aluminum walls. Penny smiles gently as she sweeps her gaze over her incarnation-hopping companion.
She creeps from between the sheets as quietly as possible and throws on her great-greater-gwampa’s cloak, the one she'd given to him, the one she'd knitted to make living outside bearable- because being around herself was too hard. She shakes her head clear as she rubs the aged worsted wool between her fingers before venturing outside and shivering against the chill of the night air. Her bionic hand lands on the porch railing and runs along the banister nostalgically, anticipating centuries old claw marks, sword cuts and imperfections as they hit her palm. She slumps down to sit on the steps and tips her face back to watch the moon, thinking of Lun, and of the man she met on its surface. Her glossy eyes dimly light her own nose and cheeks between long blinks.
“Crisis is putting it lightly,” she gasps tightly from the heat in her throat, coughing out a tiny, hoarse laugh as she hugs herself. “I forgive you.”
