If you have
epilepsy
PCOS
diabetes
heart disease
psoriasis of any type
lupus
arthritis
cancer
or any other “preexisting condition”
feel free to tell anyone in your life who voted Republican that they voted against you, specifically. The ACA did away with insurance companies being able to deny you coverage for these facts of your life, and anyone who voted for the people who want to repeal it voted for you to be sick. So tell them. Very plainly. They voted to do you harm, specifically. Personally. And now you know what your health and life are worth to them.

I don't buy into the idea of an AI-driven techno-utopia in our near future because the computer doesn't have arms.
The computer doesn't have arms so if it solves world hunger it's really relying on humans to do the work of putting the computer's master plan into action
and the thing is, all the rich guys who don't want to help other human beings because it's not profitable will STILL BE HERE and still be in control of the resources that could feed and clothe and house everyone
and I really don't see them changing their minds and letting people just have those things after decades of perceiving the entire food and clothing and housing distribution system as their sole discretionary property just because a computer was the one who told them it was a good idea this time
and I don't think the computer can solve for X if X is "make the capitalists all of the profit WHILE ALSO solving world hunger and homelessness without any rich man ever having to give up a single penny" because that's like dividing by zero.

Everywhere I look, my loved ones are under siege -- by climate disasters, by the healthcare system, by predatory landlords, by misogyny, by the vagaries of life and fate and the human body. We're all helping where we can, turning to the flimsy protections of gossip, commiseration, sending letters, posting infographics and gofundmes, emailing journalists. Sending texts out into the void, thinking of you thinking of you thinking of you. "This is so small," people say about their problems and feelings, "compared to everything that's going on, it doesn't even matter," and that's right but I wonder, too, what happens, years down the line, when people have suffered through infinite small feelings and problems that weren't allowed to matter.

I like that the media is taking the very careful angle of “people are expressing their anger about healthcare as a result of a CEO being shot” and not “healthcare CEO was shot as a result of people being angry about their healthcare”

"the shooter is alt-right" "the shooter is extreme-left"
have you considered that those in positions of power, aka those like the CEO that was shot, don't want you to unify over common experiences regardless of your political leanings??? it was never about politics. don't let the media make it about politics. make it about forcing change in a broken system.

...and, here come the freezing cold takes from the people I know who know approximately nothing about how government works/what laws have been passed in the last 20 years 😮‍💨

Gonna level with you guys, I don't know if I'm gonna be able to focus on writing until I get my medical stuff a little more sorted out. 🫠 I keep trying to sit down to crank out another chapter of something and I can't focus for shit. Sorry for the people waiting on new chapters of Synesthesia and OJAM, they're coming I promise.

Posting about animal advocacy is also hairy bc people will be like "wow you care about animals more than people getting BLOWN UP overseas okay!!" and it's like. Well no. Things aren't that simple, as fun and easy it is to reduce your whole worldview to that. I am doing what I'm good at, and what I'm passionate about, where I currently live.
But for the record I'm not one of those annoying virtue signalers who is constantly like "omg humans are the worst trash ever and animals are pure holy amazing beautiful beings, we DONT DESERVE dogs/cats/literally any animal companionship" bc that shit is annoying and helps no one. I know the term virtue signaling has been annihilated lately but. Yeah.
All advocacy work is helpful and has ripple effects. But just remember it'll never be good enough to random people online you've never met who are somehow always better activists than anyone in the world so. My advice is fuck them! They suck and are clearly only being Advocates(tm) in order to tell everyone around them how good of an advocate they are. Also they're probably 22 so just let them grow out of it lmao

Im seeing some of "the shooter was wrong because killing a ceo doesnt change anything/doesnt change the system".
1. Im intrigued by the thought process that its the outcome that decides if an act was moral or just. The ends casts judgement backwards on the means. Thats not normally how we decide ethics, I think.
I think it might be because "because murder is wrong" can be answered by "but the ceo was responsible for thousands of deaths". But still, ethics isnt tit for tat. If causing someones death is always wrong, the killer deserves fair trial but then so does everyone profiting off of the US's for-profit healthcare, which is causing many preventable deaths and much preventable suffering. But thats a huge thing to demand, no ones demanding that. Because business is legal and the system specifically passes of individual responsibility until its near impossible to hold any single person responsible, if I understand correctly. Im not even sure if this is a conscious thought process people are having.
2. Its not clear yet what effect this will have. Idk that it can be said that its a wrong action because it makes no difference. We dont know yet what the ripple effects will be. We can see theyre apparently trying to remove information about who heads the insurance companies from the internet - ive seen screenshots but not verified myself. We just dont know yet. So "it was wrong because it has no effect and wont help" doesnt seem like something that can actually be said yet.
