Disney, hire me as your Attachment Advisor, I will shove so many George Lucas quotes at your producers and writers, I will shove so many context-laden clips from the movies and TCW at your creatives, I will make powerpoint essays about how it's more Buddhist-aligned, not Attachment Theory-aligned, I will cite literally every time attachment has ever been discussed by Lucas AND in the show itself and show you that it's always aligned with fear, possessive feelings, and selfishness, I will do this work for you for free, I can even literally just point you to my Jedi Citations collection, DISNEY, HIRE ME AS YOUR ATTACHMENT ADVISOR, I CAN HELP YOU.
Everything I saw in the show aligned perfectly with my view of what the Jedi mean by attachment from the movies (especially with Episode II). You fail to understand that George Lucas words outside of the movies mean shit. You cane have the largest collection of words that has come out of Lucas's ass and it still does not change the movies. Look at the poster for AOTC. A Jedi shall not know love. Obi-Wan speaks beautifully about the undercurrent of remorse he feels for not being able to have an attachment with Satine because he lives by the Jedi Code which forbids it.
You people are so delusional.
Hi! You are so right bestie it has been way too long since I've talked about my love for Mace Windu! You are so right to have brought this up and I will meet your challenge! He is the Force's strongest soldier because the absolute nonsense he has to put up with every day, as someone who deals with the rest of the Council being hilarious assholes, who deals with Kenobi and Skywalker's nonsense, who has Yoda as a friend, and yet he seems to genuinely like all of these people?? Even when they're bonkers?? My man is stronger than I could ever be.
Not to mention, he goes on a whole ass mission with Jar-Jar, has to watch him make out with his girlfriend, the queen of the planet who told falsehoods about your family, and you have nothing but patience and kind words to say about them, and you only roll your eyes a little at Jar-Jar's antics, something even Padme does and she's worked with him even longer than you have, and by the end, you're friends with him, you like him and would probably hang out with him again if the chance arose???? Mace Windu is on ANOTHER LEVEL from what I would have done in his position!
And he's a former theater nerd! "The Council's gain was the theater's loss." Jocasta Nu says about how he didn't have time for it anymore after he got so busy with the Council, like can you IMAGINE Mace Windu doing plays? I want to know sooooooo bad how Jedi plays are different from non-Force-sensitive people's plays, I want to know what kind of cool effects they create with the Force, I want to know if they use their psychic empath abilities to literally connect with their audience! I want to know DOES MACE WINDU HELP THE YOUNGLINGS STAGE CUTE LITTLE PLAYS IN THE CRECHE? BECAUSE I BET HE DOES.
Because that man is so good with kids! Remember that Star Wars Adventures comic where he was so gentle and sweet with the little Twi'lek girl? Reaching down to help her up, smiling openly at her, walking with her back to her village to make sure she was safe, talking with her to make sure she understood how important and valuable she was in the galaxy? Because I'm still not over that!
Tumblr media
His relationship with Anakin in canon is pretty great, too, like, yeah, Anakin should take a seat and stop borderline pitching a fit about getting a rank he didn't earn, and Mace still offered to believe him, despite that Anakin had accepted Palpatine's forcing the Council to put him on it. He still trusted Anakin to help him in that fight against Palpatine! Plus, oh, man, their banter on the Endurance when they're teaching the cadets? That was such good-natured teasing, that was exactly the kind of banter Anakin would have had with Obi-Wan, and by the end of that whole fiasco (do you ever think about when Anakin was in danger and Mace yelled, "Anakin!" and desperately yanked him to safety, because he was worried about him? because I think about that a lot), Mace complimented Artoo by saying he saw what Anakin saw in him, that he was complimenting Anakin at the same time? Or pretty much EVERY interaction between Mace and Yoda is absolute hilarity, the side-eye they give each other, the teasing Yoda does when Mace is on a mission with Jar-Jar, the way Mace holds his hand out in the comics for Yoda to springboard off of into the middle of a fight? ICONIC FRIENDSHIP, I WOULD TAKE A WHOLE NOVEL ABOUT IT, DISNEY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or that time even AT THE END OF THE CLONE WARS, like they are just a MONTH out from Revenge of the Sith, if that, and Mace is STILL trying to get the droids to stand down, that he's destroyed thousands of them, none of them have listened, but he's still trying, offering them a better life away from the war, a purpose again, even if he knows it probably won't work, that man still believed in compassion for anyone and everyone. Like, baby Boba Fett TRIED TO KILL HIM and Mace STILL argued for leniency and rehabilitation, rather than jail, because he saw a young child who was hurting and he wanted better for him. He was direct with Boba, he didn't try to befriend him, Boba would never have accepted that, but he told him, you're going to have to get over your hatred for me, he says this for Boba's sake, not his own, because he knows what poison the desire for revenge is, look at the path it's already leading Boba down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or EVERYTHING WITH THE ZILLO BEAST, he tried so hard to rescue that poor creature, he fought the Senate so hard, he was so gentle with the hand he carefully pressed to its face, even when the Zillo beast was dangerous, even when it had attacked them and could so easily kill more, he wanted leniency for it, he wanted to save it because he understood where it was coming from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or EVERYTHING WITH PROSSET DIBS, that guy tried to murder him, was ranting about how he would dance on their graves or whatever, and Mace looks at him and says, we need to help him, it's our duty to help him find the light again. And his big punishment is literally just library duty, because when Mace can decide the outcome, that guy always goes for helping people, always goes for the option that would bring them back to the light.
Tumblr media
Even as a young Padawan, his greatest struggle was to temper his anger, which was sparked because PEOPLE WERE BEING HURT by the false prophet on Mathas, he was angry because he saw how many people were suffering and the people in charge just let it happen, his heart hangs heavy when he witnesses people in pain, because Mace Windu deeply, deeply cares about the people in the galaxy.
Tumblr media
He cared about civilians, he cared about clones, he cared about his fellow Jedi, he didn't have to be bouncy or super smiley to show that, either. It was in every action he took. He cared so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, okay, yeah, he was COOL AS HELL AND WOULD HAVE BEATEN PALPATINE'S WRINKLED ASS IN A FAIR FIGHT.
Tumblr media
OR THAT TIME ON RYLOTH THAT WAS LITTERALLY THE COOLEST SCENE THEY EVER ANIMATED, THE SOUND DROP? THE ABSOLUTE BANGER PHYSICAL STUNTS MACE WAS CAPABLE OF? GODDAMN HE WAS SO GOOD.
Tumblr media
AND LEST WE FORGET--CUTEST BB YOUNGLING EVER!!!!

shmi skywalker adhered to the jedi code more than anakin ever did
okay that's a very clickbaity title but i was rewatching the phantom menace and i found it so interesting that shmi actually demonstrated non-attachment and adhered to the jedi code with regards to anakin two different times during her brief screentime! i think it's important to emphasize this because shmi was anakin's only parent and primary influence during the early stages of his life. anakin's tendency towards attachment is not a result of shmi's parenting- it's despite it. so let's go through it!
the first instance of shmi's non-attachment occurs when she is presented with the notion of anakin racing on boonta eve in order to help qui-gon and padme. she explicitly says she thinks the racing is "awful" and tells anakin, "i don't want you to race." but she sets her own feelings aside- she lets go of her fear about anakin and prioritizes the greater good. the greater good, in this case, is padme and qui-gon's mission, and its implications for naboo.
shmi recognizes that her fear is not more important than an entire planet: "i may not like it, but he can help you... he was meant to help you," she says. there are also implications that she is listening to the will of the force here, and that she understands this is what anakin was meant to do.
the second instance of her non-attachment occurs when anakin is freed and she is not. she is the one who requests that qui-gon take anakin with him to coruscant to become a jedi. though she is clearly sad to part ways with him, lamenting to qui-gon that "he was in my life for such a short time," she still encourages anakin to go.
here, shmi recognizes that her desire to keep anakin near her is not more important than what is best for anakin. i've written a post here about the fact that shmi struggles to understand anakin's unique status with regards to the force, and that she turns to qui-gon and the jedi for help. shmi knows the jedi can help anakin grow this special part of him that she "can't explain" herself. she also knows that doing this will make anakin happy: she tells anakin that going with qui-gon is a chance to "make your dreams come true."
and she even drops a little nugget of wisdom, straight out of the jedi code, onto anakin. wisdom that anakin will later reject from the mouths of people like obi-wan and yoda, even though it is the exact same thing shmi believes, the exact same thing shmi is shown to have taught him. "you can't stop change, any more than you can stop the suns from setting," she tells anakin. "it is time for you to let go... to let go of me."
it's not a coincidence that shmi's screen time in the phantom menace is exclusively spent adhering to the jedi tenets of love without attachment. shmi is human, and she feels love just as anyone else. she feels scared when anakin is in danger, and she feels sad at the idea of not having him near. but she does not allow this to take precedent over the greater good, whether that is for the planet of naboo or for anakin himself.
that is non-attachment. it is letting go of someone- not because you don't love them, but because you do. and shmi skywalker is the very embodiment of it. when anakin rejects obi-wan's advice about letting go, when he refuses yoda's advice that death is inevitable, he is not just rejecting the jedi's philosophies. he is rejecting shmi's values as well. the further he sinks into attachment, the further he is forsaking his own mother's memory. that's the tragedy.

I’m gonna be honest. The more I think about it, the more I’m believing that the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy could’ve been better than the Original Trilogy if the script was tighter (a lot tighter). But George needed to let other people handle the script and he needed way more help with bringing his vision to life.
I mean, just think about it. The OG trilogy was a fairly straightforward, good vs evil storyline. Jedi and Rebels good, Emperor and Sith bad. Amazing storyline, but fairly simple. In comparison, the Prequel trilogy is far more complex in terms of what it was trying to achieve. If you look past the shitty dialogue and questionable storyline choices, the story that George came up with deals with:
1) Duty vs. Desire (Anakin trying to remain a Jedi but wanting to pursue Padme)
2) Questioning the Jedi Code instead of just blindly accepting it as gospel. Because despite how much Anakin was struggling with his complicated emotions, the Order doesn’t notice. In fact, the Order encouraged him to bury his emotions, which we see led to disaster since that led him right to the Dark Side.
3) An actual attempt at more complex politics rather than just evil empire versus good resistance. For example, it’s a meme that Anakin made an argument in favor of fascism, but in the hands of a better writer, that could’ve been a really good moment. We get an idea of why the Empire would have its supporters, despite being the obvious bad guys. It humanizes the Empire in a way that it doesn’t make you sympathize with them, but makes you understand how someone could end up on that path. That’s more true to life than just evil people being evil. (Andor is probably the one Star Wars media that understood this, which is partly why it’s one of the best Star Wars content out there)
4) The hero is genuinely a tragic character. He’s a child prodigy who was freed from slavery with the promise of a better life. But as he grows up, he becomes frustrated with how his life is turning out. He’s powerful, but not powerful enough to save his mom. He falls in love, but can’t be with Padme since it’s against the Jedi Code. Obi-Wan looks over him, but Anakin doesn’t feel he’s respected. The Order assigns him dangerous mission after dangerous mission, but he doesn’t get the rank of master. Anakin’s arc is about a man who feels like he’s not in control of his life (which is doubly sad when you remember he grew up in slavery) and, in his lowest moment, turns to a man who claims to be able to give Anakin everything he’s ever wanted. And that becomes his downfall since he ends up losing way more than he gained.
I’m sorry, but, that storyline is way more interesting than Luke and Leia’s story. No offense to Luke and Leia, but their dad’s story sounds like a Shakespearean tragedy. What messed it up was that George Lucas needed someone else to write the script.

[Anakin Skywalker x Padawan!Fem Reader]
Masterlist | Wattpad | AO3 Not My Code Masterlist
Summary: For several years, you've been Anakin Skywalker's Padawan. Even though you're afraid to admit it, you've burned out. You have no intention of adhering to the Jedi code any longer, and fighting for the Republic has ceased to be your sole purpose in life. However, your knighthood is approaching soon, but before that happens, you must undergo one final training session alongside your master. Why won't you complete it?
Tumblr media
Warnings: angst | kissing | aggresive touches | nudity | cursing | dirty talk | sexual tension | handjob | almost smut | Anakin is rough and dom
Author Note: I wouldn't technically call it pure 'smut' but due to nudity and sexual tension, I would classify my text as suitable for readers aged 18+. I apologize for any inconvenience!
Word Count: 4,2k
This isn't the first time something inside you has started to crack before entering the training room. The closer the knighting ceremony approached, the more your thoughts turned away from the Order. Obi-Wan's lectures no longer resonated with you – though you hold him in the highest regard, you no longer see value in the moralizing lessons about what Jedi can and cannot do.
For some time now, he no longer stops you in the corridor to share his guidance repeatedly, believing that since he handed you over to Anakin, you would become more disciplined and loyal to the Order.
Well... it's quite the opposite.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today's training was a torment - not because Anakin demanded too much, and not because you were resistant to the activities. This time, Anakin's mind was completely elsewhere, and there were moments when he wasn't even paying attention to what you were doing. The lack of instructions left you unsure of what to do, and the minutes of exercises stretched out like hours.
At this time, the contours of the training room were illuminated only by the view of the nighttime Coruscant and the blue glow of your lightsaber. You practiced old, familiar combat forms while Anakin stood with his back turned to you, gazing pensively at the view beyond the mighty glass window.
For you, it was supposed to be training as usual, and you stuck to that. You wanted to impress your Master as much as possible, and despite the lack of guidance, you operated at full throttle. However, even increasing your performance didn't allow you to focus when your thoughts drifted to Anakin.
There was a cloud of tension over him, so thick that you could hardly recognize him. And even though you knew that he had experienced some rough days since his divorce from Padme, today you sensed something entirely different.
"Focus," Anakin mumbled, standing with his arms crossed behind his back, his gaze fixed on the cityscape.
In moments like these, you always cursed your ability to read each other's emotions. You chose to remain silent in response to his words and continued your improvised training as if nothing had happened. At least for a while.
"Master?" You paused, trying to get his attention.
"Master, do you even know what I'm doing right now?" You added, deactivating your lightsaber.
Anakin didn't react to your words, which filled you with even greater concern. Was it your fault? Did you mess something up? Did you disappoint him? Negative thoughts swirled in your head so intensely that you didn't even notice when you first addressed him by his name.
"Anakin? What's going on?"
Hearing his name, he almost immediately turned towards you, remaining silent for the first few moments.
"Please, go back to your training," he uttered after a brief silence, causing even more doubts within you.
"No..." You replied after a while, gathering your thoughts to justify your actions.
"So we have nothing to talk about." Anakin interrupted, turning back towards the window.
"I can't even remember the last time we had a normal conversation... Master, I'm just worried," you said, gently grabbing Anakin's arm.
"Worried? About what?" he muttered, not even looking at your anxious face.
"About you. You're... different. Lately, we can't even work together... communicate..." you replied in an emotional tone, receiving only silence in return.
"I know the past few months haven't been kind to you... the divorce from Padme was tr..."
"Don't say that name," Anakin impulsively interrupted, turning towards you and removing your hand from his arm.
His tone abruptly turned rough and commanding, and the gesture he made instinctively made you take a step back.
"I'm sorry, Master, I didn't mean to..."
"So, tell me what you meant," Anakin cut you off once again, and you felt the boundary you were trying to establish in your communication with your Master shatter.
"Whatever is happening, good or not, I want to know... I want to know if I might be the problem here by any chance. Am I making a mistake? Am I getting on your nerves?" The longer you spoke, the more anxious your tone became.
"You shouldn't care about that. Our path is coming to an end soon, and ahead of you lies a new one that you'll traverse on your own... unless your conflict dictates otherwise," Anakin replied with a serious tone, this time not averting his gaze from you.
Hearing about the conflict sent shivers down your spine. Did Obi-Wan tell him about your doubts? Or, worse, does he know about your stance towards the Order?
"Conflict? W-what do you mean?" you stammered, feeling the stress engulfing you more and more.
"Let's be serious. I didn't need anyone to convey your doubts to me... I know that this training means little to you," Anakin explained in a calmer tone.
"It's not like that... I've always been committed..."
"Believe me, you have no reason to give up. Leaving the Order at this stage is not a good choice, especially for..."
"Master, please stop," you interrupted Anakin, feeling like you had nothing left to lose. He had seen through you completely. You no longer cared whether he found out on his own or through someone else.
"I have a reason for it," you replied with a trembling voice, trying to gradually focus all of Anakin's attention on yourself.
"What reason?" he asked with a voice full of doubt.
"It's about you, Master," you continued, not believing you had spoken those words.
"I'm sorry, but..." You felt yourself slowly falling apart. Anakin stood before you in complete confusion, and you seized the moment. You stood on tiptoe to reach his face, and your lips collided. The kiss you gave him was so intense that it would have sufficed if it were never to happen again. At least that was the intention, because the reality was entirely different - no longer, deeper, more intense kiss would satisfy you enough to leave this room fulfilled.
Anakin broke the kiss, not believing what had just happened. As soon as your gazes returned to each other – his, full of confusion, and yours, filled with guilt and shame – Anakin distanced himself and had no idea what to do with himself. He nervously glanced around the room.
"Go back to your quarters. Training is over," he replied in a cold, trembling tone, and you did as he commanded.
Tears welled up in your eyes even before leaving the training room. It felt like your end – the official end with the Jedi and the end of a certain chapter in your life, which, despite everything, had seemed to be the most beautiful.
The doors slammed shut behind you with a bang, and as soon as you found yourself in the corridor, you began to run. You sobbed, knowing that at this time, no one should be wandering down this path, even though you knew it was not a place where you could afford to release your emotions.
Without the strength to use the Force, you opened the door to your room with a code and impulsively slammed it shut behind you. As soon as you removed the belt with your lightsaber and tossed it aside, you threw yourself onto your bed, burying your head in the pillow, trying to scream and cry out all your emotions and the indescribable pain inside you.
It was a moment when you felt as if you were awaiting execution rather than preparing for sleep. The pain consumed you from within to the point that you might have understood for the first time why Jedi couldn't have attachments.
A dead silence filled the room, against which your sobbing became even more piercing. You wished you could escape from the temple – you just wanted to run away and leave Coruscant without a trace, but you knew it was impossible.
At that moment, you felt someone's presence. The door to your room slowly opened, even though you had made sure to lock it.
Anakin.
You felt as if your heart had stopped, and only the darkest thoughts filled your mind. You were certain he had come to reprimand you, perhaps take away your lightsaber, or even expel you from the temple. Drenched in tears, turned away from your master, you waited as if for a judgment.
"Master, I... I'm so sorry... I swear, I..." you stammered with a trembling voice, feeling Anakin's gaze on your back as he stood in the doorway.
"Never do this again," Anakin interrupted in a stern voice. As he spoke those words, you sat on the bed motionless, lacking the courage to turn and look at him.
Soon, you shuddered at the sound of the door closing. Although at first, you were certain your master had left the room, you realized that what you had heard was the sound of the lock being turned from the inside.
"Not where the surveillance can see us," he added after a moment, slowly making his way toward you.
It was a moment when you froze. Not knowing what to do, you nervously got off the bed, still avoiding eye contact with Anakin.
"Don't," Anakin said, noticing that you were about to turn toward him.
You stood there, trembling, your back still turned to your master, not knowing what he meant. You felt vulnerable, and though the fear still lingered within you, this time you sensed that the kind of tension that had built up around Anakin was entirely different from what you had experienced before.
He sensed you better than you sensed him. He felt every flicker of your fear, felt your sadness, and the tension you had laid out before him like a platter. His steps sent shivers down your spine, but you no longer heard them. He stood right behind you, mere millimeters from your back.
His right mechanical hand, clad in a black leather glove, landed on your waist. Your cutout white jumpsuit exposed your bare skin there, so you instantly felt the chill of his touch.
"Don't be afraid of me," he whispered into your ear after a moment, causing you to feel the warmth of his breath on your cheek.
Your body was completely paralyzed under his touch – you stood still, nervously swallowing saliva as you looked at your reflections in the glass tiles on the wall in front of where you both stood.
"I- I'm not." you whispered so softly that as soon as Anakin realized you were trying to speak, he leaned down lower to understand what you meant.
"I feel something else." Anakin replied, bringing his face close to yours to the point where you could feel the touch of his heated cheek. You had never been this close to him, and his scent, which reminded you of a combination of leather and saffron, was intoxicating.
You closed your eyes, and soon you felt his lips on your neck – it was a moment when you felt as if an electric current had passed through you, so intense that you didn't even notice when his left, uncovered hand landed on the other side of your waist.
This time, the touch of his hand felt much more passionate to you – and it was hardly surprising because at this moment, he felt your body with his own skin, not touch sensors.
You shivered slightly when you suddenly felt him bite the soft skin on your neck, and you instinctively entwined your fingers in his messy, wavy hair, gently massaging it at the roots. As he felt the touch of your hand, he sucked on your skin even harder than before, leaving purple bruises one after another.
You had the feeling that it was a dream. You couldn't believe what was happening, but second by second, it was sinking in that every movement was happening here and now. It wasn't a dream, and everything you felt was real and intense – you also knew that you wanted to give the same to Anakin.
You wanted to give him pleasure, and in some way... you had known it for a long time.
Gently, you raised his left hand to your face, which had been attached to your body until now, and started kissing it – the longer you did it, the more passion you put into it. Anakin lifted his lips from your neck to watch your movements through your arm.
You tried to satisfy his gaze to the point that you didn't even notice when his fingers traveled to your mouth. At this moment, the tension that buzzed within him was gradually approaching a very dangerous limit - you felt it as intensely as never before.
You finally wanted to look into his eyes and see something more than just the corner of his face, so you gently lowered his hand, moist from your kisses, to turn around and face your Master. Anakin realized your intention faster than you expected - without saying anything, he grabbed you by your waist with such force that you instinctively clenched your teeth - he didn't allow you to change your position.
"Master, I just..." you began nervously, but quickly stopped when you felt Anakin's hand on your face.
"Shhh... I know." he whispered, his face very close to yours, and expecting your obedience, he removed his hand from your face.
You stood still for a moment, only to suddenly feel Anakin tearing apart the upper part of your jumpsuit with both of his hands. The material was elastic and snug against your body, but thin enough that he ripped it into pieces with surprising ease.
At that moment, Anakin spun you around to have you face him. You felt like your legs were giving way beneath you at the sight of his heated expression. You could swear there was something wild in his demeanor—his eyes seemed darker than usual, and his pupils pulsed, scanning every detail of your face.
"Now, say what you wanted to say," Anakin whispered, gazing into your eyes, which were still swollen from your earlier tears.
You didn't intend to cry anymore, at least not out of despair... Only out of pleasure.
"Nothing. Just... continue," you murmured timidly, glancing with flushed cheeks at the torn neckline of your outfit as it hung down.
"Good girl," he whispered under his breath, slowly bringing his face closer to yours.
You closed your eyes as Anakin began to kiss the spots on your cheeks where the traces of your earlier tears had run. Although you could feel the tension simmering within him, he did it incredibly gently, tracing sweet kisses along a smooth path until he reached your lips.
You expected this to be the point where the gentleness would end – and you were absolutely right. You let him take the lead in this situation – your lips were practically motionless, and your mouth slightly parted as he passionately and slowly sucked on them. After a moment, you took action yourself, exploring his firm lips enough to taste them and never forget their flavor.
Your kisses became messy and aggressive, and through half-closed eyelids, you watched as his lips and cheeks reddened. Soon, you felt him grab your torn jumpsuit's jagged collar with his hands, and with a determined motion, he slid it down. You sensed his deep breath on your breasts when he realized you weren't wearing any underwear, and his pupils dilated, exploring your bare chest amidst the shreds of white fabric.
After a moment of scanning your body with his gaze, his exposed hand found its way to your chest. Immersing yourself in his passionate touch, you intertwined your fingers with his hand anchored to your body, feeling the smooth skin beneath your fingertips and your own exposed form.
"What do you feel?" Anakin whispered, but you didn't hear his words when he kept his lips at your collarbone.
"Hm?" you murmured, inquiringly, making eye contact with him.
"Tell me. What do you feel?" You had always loved his voice, but hearing it in this situation, when his tone was strong and hungry, made your heart race steadily.
"I don't know how to... Uh... It's just..." you mumbled, hesitating to confess how strong the desire you were feeling was. Instead, you pressed his hands against your bare chest and closed your eyes, allowing him to sense your emotions through the Force.
"No," Anakin said firmly, sliding his hands down to your waist.
"I can feel you perfectly. I feel everything, but I want to hear it," he added, gazing deeply into your eyes.
You were a transparent mirror of your emotions for him, and nothing could hide from him. He knew it, and you knew it, and you had never felt more exposed to anyone.
"I... I feel... Anakin... I want you," you forced out, feeling your cheeks burn with embarrassment.
After your words, the tension in him increased, and his hands tightened on your skin.
"Prove it," he whispered after a moment, releasing his hands from your body, as if giving you free rein.
Even though you were determined to prove it to him at all costs, you didn't know where to start.
Anakin stood before you in his black robes, which you were eager to start removing, but you had no idea how to proceed. Without further calculation, you entwined your hands in his hair and began kissing his neck – initially gently and sensually, but soon you did it greedily, in sync with his accelerating heartbeat.
You nibbled and sucked on his skin, and his accelerated breaths urged you to continue. Your tongue traced along the line of his jaw, and one of your hands clenched on his robed chest.
You felt shivers hearing the soft, intermittent moans he emitted as you caressed his skin, and your inhibition gradually faded, so you wondered what your next move would be.
"Enough," he uttered in a stern and gruff tone.
You were shocked by what he said, but he didn't allow you to dwell on it any longer. He grabbed you with both strong hands and pushed you back, causing you to land on your bed. You lay on your back and observed his movements as he took a few steps to stand over you, wearing the most arrogant of smirks.
You froze as you noticed Anakin beginning to unbuckle his belt, all the while not breaking eye contact with you. Biting your lip, you observed his every move, and as he discarded the first layer of his robes, you began to slide down the lower part of your jumpsuit.
"Let me..." Anakin interrupted your actions as he saw what you were getting at and raised his mechanical hand towards your waist.
With a single, confident motion, Anakin slid the lower part of your jumpsuit down and removed the tall boots fastened to them, leaving you in just your panties. You felt excitement coursing through him as he watched you in such a state, and as you suspected, he couldn't wait any longer.
He lunged towards you, eager to be on top, and you both immediately engaged in a fervent kiss, touching each other's bodies as if time were running out.
In the midst of your passionate touches, you felt your hips collide, and instinctively, you wrapped your legs around his waist, pulling him closer. Your mind raced as you felt Anakin's pulsating rhythm as he rubbed his hips against the most sensitive parts of your body, gradually picking up the pace, knowing he was pushing you to the edge of endurance.
"Anakin... Please." you whispered straight into his moist lips, after which his face lifted to look you directly in the eyes.
"Please what?" he replied with a hungry tone, expecting you to elaborate.
"I... I want..." you began to mumble.
"Words. I need your words." he whispered, maneuvering his hand around your lower abdomen.
"Fuck." you muttered under your breath, feeling how his touch electrified your entire body.
"Do you want this? Do you want me to fuck you?" he continued in a hoarse, desire-filled voice.
"Yes... Yes, please," you squeezed out, impulsively reaching for his belt, which, though unfastened, was still in place.
"Say it. Tell me what you want me to do to you." he commanded, holding your hand against his belt.
"I want you to fuck me," you responded with a breathless voice and, finally, a hint of self-assurance.
"That's what I meant," he whispered with a slight, teasing smirk, then quickly pushed the belt aside to pull his clothes down from the waist up.
With butterflies in your stomach, you admired his impressive, naturally sculpted chest as he knelt on the bed between your legs, which you soon spread a bit wider to make more room for him. Anakin knelt, scanning every inch of your body with his eyes, but he knew that one more element was missing to complete the picture.
His hand smoothly moved up your thigh and landed on your panties, where it lingered for a while. You moaned when his fingers began to massage you through the thin fabric, but for some reason, you held back from making louder sounds, which Anakin noticed.
"The walls are soundproofed. You can scream as loud as you need to... The louder, the better," he reassured you, seeing how nervously you glanced around the room, and you nodded.
After a moment of teasing you through your clothes, Anakin reached for his pants, but after some consideration, he postponed that task and took hold of your hands.
"Do it," he said, and you pulled yourself into a half-sitting position, allowing yourself to be carried away by your intrusive thoughts.
You started by kissing his chest, gradually moving down from his collarbones. Repaying him for the purple bruises on your neck, you left a few of your own on his body as you sucked on his skin, making your way down to his abdomen.
You paused when your hands began to unbutton his pants, during which Anakin helped you by pushing his pants down the sides.
Without waiting any longer, you slipped your hand beneath his underwear, and upon feeling him, you had to admit that you were a bit concerned about whether you could handle it. Well... It's more than impressive.
With your free hand, you pushed his clothing down a bit further and began to massage him with considerable force, so much so that Anakin immediately groaned and, overwhelmed by the feeling, tilted his head backward.
"Keep.... Uh... Keep it this way." Anakin murmured, propping himself up on his arms on the bed.
You nodded, biting your lip, and continued, carefully observing the pleasure on his face. Both of you knew, however, that you wouldn't finish this way, so you began to slide off the last piece of your clothing with your free hand. But you flinched when you heard an unfamiliar sound.
"What's that? Did you hear that?" Anakin immediately turned his face toward you when he heard your words and waited for a moment to catch the presumed sound.
"General Skywalker, can you hear us?"
"Fuck," Anakin cursed, completely shocked, as he realized someone was trying to contact him through the communicator embedded in his belt.
Your disappointment was equally profound. The only thing you could do at this point was to grab your head and collapse on the bed right next to him.
"Will you answer?" you whispered, feeling Anakin's growing anger.
"I'm afraid I have no choice." he replied through gritted teeth, then rolled onto the bed enough to reach for the communicator.
"I hear you. What's the problem?" he relayed, masking his frustration as best as he could.
"General, it's better if you get here as soon as possible. We had an explosion near the temple, and there are injuries among our people. I'm sending the coordinates."
Anakin clenched his hand on the communicator and nervously swallowed, realizing that his plans for the night had just taken a 180-degree turn.
"You'd better check what's going on there," you whispered, gently stroking his shoulder.
Both of you knew it was inevitable. So, without saying anything more, Anakin left one last passionate kiss on your lips and began to put his clothes back on. Meanwhile, you pulled out some lighter nightwear from one of the drawers and threw it on temporarily, knowing that you would need to shower and change properly in the bathroom once Anakin left.
"I'm sorry about this," he said to you with a disappointed tone.
"No... You shouldn't be. I understand... Go and make sure everyone is safe."
Anakin just nodded and grabbed the doorknob, but he stopped for a moment as he was about to leave.
"Same time tomorrow?" he asked again, making eye contact with you.
"Tomorrow. Same time, Master." you replied, running your fingers through your hair. This time, both of you exchanged a mischievous smirk, but Anakin's gaze on you was like never before. He looked at you as if he had just discovered something, as if he had unearthed a treasure he desired and wanted to dig up even more.
"Get some rest." he managed to say before finally closing the door to your room.
That was the moment when you felt drained. You felt disappointment, but also an incredible, surreal ecstasy. You fell onto the bed and didn't know what to do next, other than to gaze up at the ceiling.
Well... whatever you do, one thing is for sure—you won't be sleeping tonight.

“Are you sure that we need Obi-Wan here, milady?” Anakin asks you, blowing on his clasped fists nervously as you wait for Obi-Wan to reach your chambers. He had sent a message an hour ago, letting you and Anakin know that he had landed in the forests of Naboo and would be reaching the palace soon. “What if it puts him in danger?”
“I understand your concern, Anakin, but we’re in over our heads now,” You hum, looking over the room once more to make sure things are in place. You realize it’s out of nervousness, and wanting to earn the Jedi Master’s respect, and quickly look back at Anakin. “But yes, we need him here, even if it’s just temporary. You’re not as skilled as he is, according to you, with the skill of mind-control, and we can’t risk the Separatists slipping out of your influence and realizing that the Queen’s husband was trying to figure out their plans. Obi-Wan, on the other hand, is unlinked to the palace, and his involvement would not directly jeopardize us. As for him being in danger… I have faith in Master Kenobi’s abilities, and I’m sure that his involvement will be brief, despite the necessity of it.” Anakin nods, grabbing his lightsaber from the depths of his pockets and flipping it in the air anxiously. He nearly drops it when Obi-Wan jumps cleanly onto the balcony, moving quickly to get through the open doors without being seen.
Hello there,” General Kenobi says. His voice immediately lifts a weight off of your shoulders. You knew as soon as you decided to take active action against the separatist while also uncovering their leader, you’d need more help. General Kenobi was the most adept in mind influencing. That, you could use. You couldn’t have done these last few months without Anakin, but it was time to move. And fast.
“Master,” Anakin says, striding to Obi-Wan and enveloping him in a tight hug. He hadn’t realized the importance of Obi-Wan in his life— the younger Jedi Knight’s torturous visions, nightmares of the people he loved dying as he watched helplessly, had stopped when he left, but the certainty of Obi-Wan’s guidance had disappeared with it. And when he was dealing with you and the nuance that your task called for, it certainly wasn’t easy to carry on without Obi-Wan and his gentle guidance.
Not that he listened to Obi-Wan all that much, but it wasn’t about that. He lets go of Obi-Wan reluctantly, knowing that their bond is deeper than words could convey.
“Master Kenobi,” you bow respectfully while Anakin quickly checks the noise dampener. “It’s an honor to have your assistance.”
“It’s an honor to be called. Will you walk me through the plan, milady?” He asks, settling criss-cross on the marble flooring of the room. You sit across from him, and Anakin joins your side instinctually before the puzzled look from Obi-Wan has him shuffling further from you until the three of you form a triangle.
“I was so caught up with the overarching goal that I lost track of the present. While it’s true that I absolutely cannot jeopardize my own mission, I cannot sit back and lose more of my people.” Obi-Wan nods in understanding, tracing circles on his knee as you confess your guilt.
“So you need to know more than what they tell you, and be able to have one of your Ministers know how to countermove without it coming from you,” Obi-Wan confirms.
“Exactly. It shouldn’t be too hard to get that information but I’ll need to know who it is I can trust. I don’t know exactly the scope of your abilities, would you be able to help me figure out which ones I can trust?” At your request, Anakin clicks his tongue, nodding at your request.
“Well, we can’t read minds. What we could do is something along the lines of figuring out what emotions they’re feeling when they talk to you?” Anakin suggests, garnering Obi-Wan’s approving nod.
“And as for getting the information…” you trail off, unsure of what to do now that you knew the Jedi couldn’t read minds.
“Well, there’s a few things we could do,” Obi-Wan processes aloud, something formulating in his head as he considers the options. “What do you know about the leaders of the Naboo Separatist chapter?” He asks. You snort.
“I’ve met their leader, but he’s a total dunce. I truly believe that they chose him because he’s easy to manipulate,” You say. At your words, Anakin lights up, nonverbal communication flowing between him and Obi-Wan. It’s kind of cute, seeing him more in his element. You like the side of Anakin that Obi-Wan brings out. It’s like the older Jedi pushes Anakin to be better— to think things out, to be rational. Something along those lines. But the shift is obvious.
“Easy to manipulate, you say?” Anakin says, an excited look on his face.
“If that’s the case, then there certainly is something we can do,” Obi-Wan says cautiously. “Is there any way I can see the leader in person?”
“I know where he lives,” you say, looking up at the ceiling to avoid making eye contact as you cringe at the thought of him.
“Why do you know where he lives?” Anakin asks suspiciously.
“Because he was once my boyfriend,” You sigh.
~~~
“Baby,” a sleazy voice calls out from the table you just crossed. Arus Dryskan sits in the booth of the low-lit pub, sketchy characters flitting behind you in the shadows. When your eyes meet his, you’re reminded of all those nights you spent with him, tangled up in the sheets. You’re reminded of the good and the bad: the way he’d toy with your emotions and blame you when other men would flirt with you, all the shouting matches, the control that he tried to impose on you. Part of you is affronted by the fact that he’d even dare to call you baby after putting you through all that. But you set it aside, reminding yourself that you’re in control here. He has no power over you.
You relax your shoulders and tell yourself that Anakin’s here, that you will be fine, forcing yourself to inhale and relax as you slide into the vinyl seating. Arus’ arm is thrown carelessly on the back of the seating, a cigarette hanging from his mouth as he eyes you up and down.
“It’s been a while, Arus,” You say, reigning in your repulsion and leaning in to gaze into his eyes seductively, batting your lashes and eyeing him up and down. That should work, right? Even when you were together, it was never about the two of you— it was about Arus, about making him feel desired. You never were the most affectionate with him (largely in part because he’s fucking irritating) but you need him to think that you want him. It’s funny, there was a time when you found him quite attractive, but now, the only thing you can focus on is how revolting he is. He rakes one hand through his greasy hair, flashing you that grin that used to work so well on you.
“You’ve done pretty well for yourself, huh, milady? Queen of fuckin’ Naboo,” he says, leaning in to whisper in your ear. The heat of his body feels suffocating next to you, and the mere thought of his touch makes you dig your nails into your palms, trying desperately to regulate yourself before your fear gives you away. “It’s funny that none of these suckers know you’re one of us.” His eyes are conspiratorial, which you can work to your favor. You smile slyly, allowing your fingers to dance on the tabletops as you slide in closer to him.
“Nobody knows I’m here,” you laugh, “Not even my dunce of a husband.” At your words, Arus raises his brows, a big smile spreading across his face. Sorry, Anakin. “I’ve missed you,” you whisper in his ear. Your tone wavers between the truth of your desperation and the practiced smoothness that you used so often when you were with him. Your hand finds its way to his shoulders, resting there as you wait for him to give you some sort of sign.
“What about your dunce of a husband?” He asks you playfully, leaning back.
“You think that nerf-herder could satisfy me the way you do? I played around with him for a while, yes, but he was so boring. Not to mention how much…bigger you are. ” You allow your hand to drift downwards, teasing him through the material of his shirt. He may be a sleemo, but you’d be lying if you said he wasn’t built.
You almost want to roll your eyes when his hand shoots out to grab your waist, pressing you even closer to him as your hand travels from his pecs to his abs. Was he always such a simpleton? A pretty girl bats her eyelashes at him and he goes absolutely dumb. Or stays dumb. He’s not very smart.
“Do you wanna… get out of here?” you ask, your voice a low, seductive hum in his ear. You can practically hear the blood roaring in your ear, the feel of your heart thumping traitorously in your chest and you can only pray that he can’t feel it. Take the bait. Let’s go.
You have to hold back an audible sigh of relief when you hear the clink of his speeder keys as he grabs them, and you, and pulls you out of the bar. You know Anakin’s following closely behind you — Obi-Wan’s already at his house, you just need to make sure that he gets there. If anyone asked at the pub, anyways, they would’ve just seen one of Arus’ usual nightly conquests.
You keep touching his arm as you sit in the speeder and on the way to his house; you need him to be distracted so that he can’t see Anakin following behind you both. The ride there is short but he’s so revolting it feels like a lifetime— he’s telling you about how he blew up a village the other day and found it so funny. You have to force your laughter, but you really just want him away from you. You’re disgusted— the fact that you had ever touched him, had ever been so oblivious to all of him. Back then, he wasn’t so evil— or maybe he was, and he just hadn’t had the chance to show it yet.
In the rearview mirror, you see Anakin cut into the side streets, a shortcut to his place that would work just fine. Arus is too busy talking about himself to notice, as per usual.
“Let me open the door for you, princess,” he says when you pull up to his house. The second he’s unbuckled and standing outside of your door, there’s a soft thunk before he slides on to the speeder, practically falling in your lap as Anakin looks down at him with a glower.
“Thanks, Anakin,” You say, opening the door and throwing Arus out.
“Was it really necessary to be all handsy with him?” Anakin grumbles.
“How else do you think I’d be able to get him here?” You ask, puzzled.
“Still,” Anakin frowns. Is he jealous?
“Oh, don’t worry, my darling husband, you’re still the only man for me,” you confess dramatically, throwing yourself into his arms and snickering when he pushes you off with a scowl. “Moody,” you tease, helping him hoist up Arus and carrying his body through his door.
“Took you both long enough,” Obi-Wan says from inside the house. Once inside, Anakin doesn’t bother carrying him, instead just lifting him with the Force into the little chair and flicking his finger so that ropes bind him tightly.
“Normally, I wouldn’t approve of you using the Force for such a trivial thing, but the Queen looks rather tired from holding him up,” Obi-Wan quips.
“He’s quite heavy, you know,” you chime, sitting down on the ground.
“I think it’s best that you and Anakin wait in the speeder outside,” Obi-Wan says. “It would be bad if he wasn’t influenceable and saw you here with me.” You and Anakin shuffle outside at his order, sitting in Anakin’s speeder as you wait for Obi-Wan to do his thing.
“So… is that your type?” Anakin asks, looking out the speeder, past the dim streetlights to the clear Naboo night sky.
“What?”
“Guys like him.” You look over at Anakin— at his lean structure, deceptively strong and muscular under his robes— and shake your head.
“No. Not anymore, at least. I really only chose him because I wanted to do something for once in my life that wasn’t the order of someone else. I learned pretty quickly that that wasn’t the right idea. He was controlling, obsessive, and just downright mean sometimes.”
“So what is your type?”
“Why do you wanna know so bad?” You ask curiously, propping your feet up on the dash as you study Anakin’s face.
“Well, we’ve got time to kill,” Anakin says, fiddling with the keys to the speeder as he avoids eye contact. He does that when he’s nervous. Why is he nervous? This whole interaction is completely puzzling to you, but you think there’s a way that you can mess with Anakin’s head the way he’s messing with yours.
“Hmm… My type is tall, melodramatic Jedi who go by the name of Anakin Skywalker and are secretly, hopelessly, in love with me,” you tease, leaning over to his seat to pretend to kiss his cheek. He pushes you away with a scowl, glaring at you when you start laughing at his anger.
“Not funny, milady,” Anakin huffs, crossing his arms.
“I thought it was funny,” You grin, pretending to cross your arms and puffing out a breath in mock irritation.
“Stop that.”
“No. Not unless you stop being a child.”
“Why can’t you just answer me honestly?” Anakin asks, a note of seriousness in his voice.
“Anakin…” You sigh, thinking that you have an idea as to what’s going on. Your eyes dart quickly to make sure Obi-Wan’s still inside, then you reach over and put your hand atop his. “If this is about Padme—”
“It’s not,” Anakin grumbles, but you pay him no heed.
“Since this is about Padme leaving you, because I really don’t believe you, will you let me just say one thing? I’m sure she had her reasons. Padme never does anything that she knows would hurt other people unless she thinks it’s totally necessary.”
“I know that,” Anakin says quietly to himself, the metal paneling of his arm rippling as he flexes and looks at you. In his eyes there’s a softness you don’t find very often, one that’s inviting, that makes you want to pretend for maybe a second that this marriage was real.
“You’re perfect, Anakin,” you reassure him, lost in the depths of his eyes. Why is it that you can feel every breath of his as if it’s your own? As though his heartbeat itself matches your own, in total synchrony with every part of you.
“And so are you,” he whispers. You can hear his breath hitch in his throat as he looks at you and you wonder, just for a second, if there’s actually something between the two of you. You can’t be imagining all of this. But it’s over as soon as it started, Obi Wan’s voice snapping the both of you to attention.
“Milady, you’re going to want to hear this,” Obi-Wan says grimly, the slightest of tremors in his hand as he rakes through his long strands. You don’t know him well enough to say, but the way that Anakin perks up at Obi-Wan’s tone tells you that there’s something big. “The Separatists, they’re not just planning on launching military attacks, they’re planning on attacking the food sources; slaughtering and burning the Shaaks, poisoning the water sources. They’ll have a series of attacks and bomb blasts set up to distract the Naboo Military. They’ll stop at nothing.”
“Okay. Okay,” You whisper, brought back to reality. Your fantasies of Anakin in some role that he would never play are blinked away as terror seeps in, tinges your view of the future. “We’ll need to ramp up imports of food, and be prepared to maintain a completely safe distribution of food. I’ll leave it under the charge of someone not at the Capital, as I don’t want the spies interfering with our stores of food. As for the water,” You sigh, your mind turning furiously as you think. It’s all coming to a dead end.
“We can’t let it become like Tatooine, where they have to moisture-farm just to get water,” Anakin interjects coldly. You look over at him to see that distant look in his eyes and you know he’s somewhere else, somewhere horrible. You reach out tentatively to bring him back to you.
“The water will come later, after the food,” Obi-Wan adds quietly. “Dryskan told me when they’d do it all.”
“Is there a possibility that he could have fooled us, at all?” You ask fearfully, hands shaking as you think of more blood under your rule, more blood on your hands. You can’t take it anymore. You can’t let what happened, happen again. Anakin seems to read your mind when he places a heavy hand on your shoulder, nodding silently when you turn your head to look at him. He knows what you’re thinking.
“It can’t hurt to prepare, milady,” Obi-Wan responds. “But not a soul can know of your knowledge of it. They could strike sooner, leaving you no time to prepare.”
“Get enough food to account for a famine without anyone realizing, get the people in danger out before they can be slaughtered, too, and fend against the increasing Separatist attacks. Sounds like it’ll go without a hitch,” You remark dryly, leaning your head back to close your eyes. “There must be something big. It has to be big, if they’re going this drastic. They’re trying to make Naboo an example, once and for all, and that means that there has to be something big coming our way.” The three of you sit in somber silence, hearts in your gut as worry tenses your muscles.
“There’s a list of military attacks as well,” Obi-Wan says, breaking the silence. You reach for a slip of paper hidden within the sleeves of your robe
“We can’t write them down. A paper trail could be fatal,” Anakin interjects, placing a hand on your forearm. “I’ll remember them.”
“You’ll have to act fast,” Obi-Wan responds. “Their next attack is in two days’ time.”
“That’s not enough time to plan a full-scale defense, let alone having to do it all without the Separatists knowing,” you sigh, frustrated.
“We’ll have to evacuate the civilians, then. And quickly. Let the Separatists attack a deserted town,” Anakin suggests. He’s tired of the bloodshed, and you can’t blame him. You imagine that the blood spilled by the Jedi didn’t often involve the blood of the innocents.
“If we go now, we could encourage them to evacuate with enough time,” you respond. It doesn’t take much convincing after that, the three of you shrouded by the night as you drive on in tense silence.
~~~
It’s nearly dawn by the time you arrive at the small town. There’s a feeling lingering in the back of your mind, some anxiety that you can’t give shape to with words. But you’ll be fine, you’re certain; if they find out that you and Anakin are missing, you’ll just lie. An early-morning stroll would fit you and Anakin’s dynamic rather well.
Some of the town’s workforce is up, walking in the dusty roads, illuminated gray by the early morning light. They look at you without suspicion, just a curious indifference. You stop the speeder, donning your palace robes and get out.
“Good people,” you say, your voice unwavering. You need them to believe you, like how they would if it was Padme telling them instead of you. “I come under the order of the palace. The Queen has knowledge of a Separatist plan that puts you all in grave danger. I’ve been sent here to aid you in evacuating; you are instructed to bring what is most important to you, and the palace will compensate and aid in rebuilding efforts should the town face damages.” You hide your nervousness— you can’t help it if they don’t believe you, but you also can’t tolerate another slaughter. Their faces show no signs of doubt, however; the mere mention of the Separatist forces are enough for most of the galaxy to tremble in fear. The chatter of conversation in response to your warning is slow but steady in its growth; the murmurs of people wondering what to bring, fear of the Separatists borne out of the knowledge of their crimes, and finally the concern for their wages.
“S’cuse me, ma’am,” one man says, stepping forward. You feel Anakin step forward in response reflexively, moving to guard you from any threat and for some reason, it brings a flutter to your stomach. “How can we trust that what you’re saying is true?”
“You can’t,” you say, a bitter smile pulling at your lips. “But the risk of not trusting me will lead only to death.”
~~~
“Six months is not enough to hide your thoughts from me, Anakin,” Obi-Wan says to Anakin as they usher the last of the town residents to the speeders, leaving them with the instructions on how to get to the determined shelter.
“I don’t know what you mean, Master,” Anakin mumbles, helping a child up into a speeder as he avoids Obi-Wan’s eyes.
“Anakin…” Obi-Wan sighs. “I am glad you have recovered from your heartbreak with Padme. Don’t deny it, young Skywalker, I have eyes and you’re about as subtle as a bantha with a trombone. And of course, with the current Queen, closeness is only natural. You spend every waking moment with her. But can you trust her?”
“….I don’t need to trust her,” Anakin grumbles, pulling on a loose thread on his shirt.
“But you do. I see it in the way you look at her, Anakin; it’s more than a mission. And when this is over, will you truly be able to let her go entirely?” Obi-Wan refutes. Anakin can’t answer his pointed question— he doesn’t know how to, because the thought of letting you go feels entirely foreign to him now. At his silence, Obi-Wan sighs, moving to stand next to him as they look at the open, deserted town.
“I know what the Jedi Code says about attachments, Master. But this… it feels different. I do not covet her, I do not wish to own her; no, it’s that she shows me those parts of me which I hide. She is similar to me, and forces me to be better. I cannot call it love, nor can I say that I can trust her thoughtlessly, but perhaps it is the Force that brought me to her.” Obi-Wan hums, lost in his own thoughts as he internalizes what Anakin said. Anakin wonders briefly how well it is that Obi-Wan understands his words— after all, only a fool would have missed the dynamic between him and Duchess Satine. But part of him knows that it wasn’t entirely truthful— was it not jealousy that drove him to ask you about Arus? Was it not jealousy that he felt when you mentioned having been with another man? Hadn’t he wanted to rip Arus to shreds the second he saw him touching you? Anakin pushes his feelings down, ignoring the churning in his stomach in the hopes that it’ll go unnoticed by Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan, after a sizable pause, sighs heavily and nods. “Where is the Queen? You should go find her,” he says to Anakin tiredly. For a second, Anakin feels a twinge of guilt— he doesn’t mean to make Obi-Wan feel as though this is a lesson that he must parrot again and again, but it’s not like that with you. He’s not like that with you. But he swallows it, and goes off in search of you.
The sun is bright and beating down on him overhead. It’s been hours since you first began evacuating every soul in the town, instructing them and helping them pack. You’re good and it couldn’t be clearer to him. And if you’re good, he’s good. Maybe that’s why he feels more self assured around you— you and him have so many similarities but you seem to live your life without that internal turmoil that Anakin knew for the past few years a little too well.
As he walks the dusty streets he can hear the telltale sounds of a struggle, the sharp cry of pain which quickens his feet and takes him to the sight of you. He watches, almost frozen in his feet, as you deliver a sharp punch to Reyna’s throat, winding her before you sweep her to the ground in a move that he knows he taught you. A sense of pride fills him before it is overcome with horror— your hands, tangled in Reyna’s hair, slam her skull on the dry, dusty ground over and over again, until her body goes limp. You grab a nearby rock and drive the jagged edge into Reyna’s forehead, a splash of crimson spraying across your face as you look up to meet Anakin’s eyes.
The look lighting up your eyes brings a sense of familiarity within Anakin, that bloodlust that had clouded his judgment all those months ago when he killed the Sand People. Nausea chokes his throat as he remembers that day, sees you mirror what he must have looked like. And through the fog of his revulsion and fear and regret, he realizes that no one can know what happened.
“She saw us evacuating the people from the town, she knew we knew, she was gonna expose us,” You babble, still frozen on top of Reyna’s body. “She never trusted me, she never trusted us, she was going to— we would be dead if I hadn’t done it, she wanted us dead,” You plead, trying to rationalize and explain it all to Anakin. You don’t realize that he understands you perfectly.
“Come on, come on,” he ushers you, getting you away from the body as you begin to shake.
“What did I do, Anakin?” You whisper, trembling hands reaching to the ground as you try to sink away from his grasp.
“No. Look at me. My queen, look at me,” he urges, wishing so desperately that he could take away the horrified look in your eyes. “You didn’t do anything. You haven’t seen her since you were in the palace, after which you and I went on a romantic stroll. How did she find you?” He asks, hands resting on your temples as he tries desperately to bring down your panic.  A little feeling of guilt burrows itself within him as he realizes he had never felt this guilty about the people he had killed. Maybe he should have, and that makes him feel worse.
“She— I forgot to take off all my jewelry, and there was a tracker in one of my bracelets,” you whisper, going to rip off the bracelets. “She woke up this morning and we weren’t at the palace, so she checked the tracker and found us here. She didn’t tell anyone, or she would have brought someone else with her.” Anakin nods, stroking your temples with his thumbs. You close your eyes, murmuring his name in a desperate sob, with a sacredness to his name that he’s never truly heard before.
Anakin hoists you away from Reyna’s still-warm body, the heat flowing out of her like rivers that seek you out, staining your hands with more blood. He doesn’t want you to deal with this, but fate has left the two of you with no choice. He can’t use the Force— Obi-Wan’s natural distrust of politicians, spies, whatever category you fit into would only make his opinion of you suffer. He’d be able to sense it instantly. And for some reason, Anakin wants him to approve of you. Desperately so, in fact. So he grabs some tools from the front of a nearby home, using some sort of shovel to dig into the dry dirt of the road. Each thud of the shovel radiates pain up his arm and the metal of his hand creaks and complains, but he hardly notices for the fact that the only thing you’ve been able to say is his name, over and over again. You’ve turned him into your anchor, and he can feel it, the vulnerability, the pain, the fear that you’ve become something that can’t be reversed. It’s the same fear that he feels so often, the same fear that he felt after killing the Sand People. And it’s then that Anakin realizes, startlingly, that he’d do anything for you.
Anything.
The jedi: the flawed order that failed the chosen one
Anakin's descent into darkness in Episode 3 goes beyond his personal journey and sheds light on the similarities between Anakin and the Jedi as well as the Sith and the Jedi. Anakin's ability to intuit and foresee the future primarily manifests through his dreams, significantly influencing his subsequent actions. Similarly, the Jedi's perception and knowledge of future events set the stage for a series of plots that culminate in the climactic events of Revenge of the Sith.
Anakin's immediate regret over killing an unarmed Count Dooku and later on Mace Windu echoing the same words as Palpatine did in the beginning, justifying the murder of an unarmed enemy, highlights the skewed perception he forms of the jedi order, portraying them as power-hungry and selfish, akin to the Chancellor, as well as the biggest hypocrites when it comes to their code.
Although Anakin recognizes that Sidious is malevolent and acting out of self-interest, he ultimately places the Jedi and the Sith on the same ethical level and his personal motive of saving Padme becomes the decisive factor in his decisions, leading him down a path of darkness where he rationalizes his terrible deeds with this premise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Jedi's inherent distrust of Anakin from his first day stemmed from their perception that his remarkable affinity with the Force posed a potential threat to their established order. However, this initial judgment proved to be a significant mistake that will lead to their failure, especially considering their recent discovery of an active Sith presence recruiting individuals to their cause. Anakin's journey into darkness begins with a profound sense of rejection by the Jedi Order, stemming from their inability to see beyond their arbitrary requirements and fully embrace his capabilities.
Tumblr media
Apart from Qui-Gon Jinn, who recognizes Anakin's potential, the rest of the Jedi show little faith in him, leaving him feeling isolated and unwanted. Even Obi-Wan's decision to mentor Anakin is more out of duty to his late master's final wish than a genuine connection or belief in Anakin's abilities. Both Obi-Wan and the Jedi Order fell into the same trap as Anakin did in Episode 3 regarding their perceptions of the future, ultimately fulfilling their own fears regarding him and his perceived role. Qui-Gon makes the right call in his belief that an uncertain future doesn't inherently spell doom but rather depends on the choices individuals make. This contrasts sharply with the Jedi Order's fear of the unknown, a poignant irony given their professed stoicism and obsessive rejection of human emotions.
Tumblr media
This mindset causes them to overlook significant aspects of their new apprentice, assuming they could simply be disregarded – such as neglecting the natural bond between parent and child. They believed that by finally admitting Anakin into their ranks, they could simply train him similarly to the young children who didn't develop yet long term memory to remember their parents. However, they lacked the empathy and the compassion to address his concerns about his mother, and they never attempted to create conditions that would allow him to let go of that worry, such as freeing her and ensuring her well-being in a comfortable planet of the Republic. Despite Anakin's valuable contributions to the Jedi on Tatooine and the Naboo army in episode 1, freely offering his assistance without seeking anything in return, the only jedi who was aware they owed him a lot and showed genuine care for him and his mother died in the midst of it all.
Tumblr media
The avoidable circumstances surrounding his mother's death result in an irreparable rift, leading Anakin to lose trust in the Jedi when faced with similar situation involving his wife and the need to divulge the true nature of their relationship.
Tumblr media
Qui-Gon's advice to live in the present, attuned to the living Force, echoes throughout the original trilogy, notably paralleled by Yoda in Episode 5. The 20 years spent in contemplative exile prior to his meeting with Luke make Yoda acknowledge some of his own past mistakes during the Clone Wars and learn from them, proving that no matter the age, life will always provide new lessons to learn. Initially prone to projecting into the future, Yoda's prejudiced view of Anakin in Episode 1 results in a series of missteps that contribute to his own failures. In contrast, by Episode 5, Yoda adopts a similar attitude to Qui-Gon's, counseling Luke that the future remains uncertain and emphasizing the importance of self-belief, confidence and trust in the force, exemplified when he explains that Luke's inability to move his ship with the Force stems from a lack of belief in himself.
Padme: Yeah let's go hide away after you've committed double genocide and destroyed a democratic Republic so you never have to face consequences for anything you've ever done, you're obviously still a good person and I will believe that even if you tried to kill ME because I'm so blinded by my own lust and desire to escape the darkness in the galaxy that I'll protect you and have faith in you even after you have proven yourself violent and unstable!
Ahsoka: I would literally die to ensure you don't feel like I abandoned you even after you genocided my entire people, desecrated my home, and had the men I loved and trusted and who literally created an entire identity around loyalty to me be mind controlled into wanting me dead because I feel so guilty over leaving you behind and cannot fathom that you might ever do evil things despite making me go through a borderline abusive training regimen that involved me being knocked unconscious on a hard surface for over an hour.
Obi-Wan: I will walk away and leave you die when you show no remorse for committing double genocide, destroying a democratic Republic, and enslaving an entire galaxy because while I love you, I will never love you so much that I will pretend you aren't a danger to everyone around you, including myself, your wife, and your own children, and there is no life that is worth less than letting you live just because I used to love you.
Fandom: Obi-Wan is SO ATTACHED to Anakin, he's let his ENTIRE IDENTITY revolve around Anakin, and just CANNOT SEPARATE HIMSELF FROM ANAKIN, and would literally do ANYTHING for Anakin, even if it went against the Jedi code, obviously it's AHSOKA who would actually kill him without hesitation while Obi-Wan would hesitate, because Ahsoka's relationship is the most normal and has the least amount of unhealthy attachment and obsession in it on her end.
Obi-wan and Padme as willfully obtuse rivals
Tumblr media
Saw this Take on reddit the other day (I know) but I thought it was so perfectly written and captured exactly the dynamic I always felt Obi-wan and Padme to have. I never saw them as friends (and frankly I don't think the on-screen text supports them as friends). They certainly aren't enemies! They share a friend, they share traits, they even share respect for one another - but they are not in league with one another, and importantly they share a subtle current of mistrust for each one another.
Obi-wan outright states he does not trust politicians, Senators in particular. Padme willingly marries a Jedi which is against the Order and Senate's codes of conduct, and blatantly lies to Obi-wan for years. Obi-wan never confronts Padme about his concern for Anakin despite his growing observation of Anakin's instability. They both prefer, in a way, to pretend the other does not exist. Compartmentalized.
Padme and Obi-wan represent, thematically, a dual influence on Anakin - one he must famously choose between Jedi or Senate (spoiler alert: he ends up choosing himself, Sith). It is worthy to note that they hardly ever interact themselves - this is done on purpose.
It is essential for the tragedy narrative that Obi-wan and Padme do not collide and rarely interact with one another. It is their own personalities which ensure this. Years of subtle feigned ignorance between them and purported respect coupled with disinterested avoidance.
The two are almost eerily similar in their delusions (Padme is naive, Obi-wan is arrogant - yet neither believe they are), they overlap almost constantly in Anakin's life, but on their own they rarely interact together. They stubbornly refuse, both knowingly and unknowingly, to ever truly confront one another about this dangerous tug-of-war they are engaged in with Anakin as, for lack of better term, the object of their desire. Yet they are not, emphatically, a love triangle. Anakin is the prize. The Jedi and the Senate are competitors.
These negative aspects to their characterizations propels the Tragedy Narrative with Anakin/The Chosen One as the McGuffin forward. Neither the Jedi nor the Senate are willing to see the truth about Anakin, and both keep their intentions with him secret. Like Padme and Obi-wan, the Jedi & Senate never wanted to admit Anakin's fate might be multifaceted and linked to many different power structures, so instead they seek to direct him on their own.
Anakin as the Chosen One was essentially the harbinger of a message: the Order and Senate need to be dismantled and refurbished. They were corrupt - the same as Padme and Obi-wan (as figures in a Tragedy). But neither side could admit that.
Padme marries Anakin secretly and intends to take him away from a life of service (when she knows he is deeply conflicted about this, & she marries him when he is struck with unstable grief over Shmi), and Obi-wan is seemingly very aware the Council does not trust Anakin and is keeping him on the outside because of fear of his abilities (when he knows Anakin desperately wants to know the truth) - both of these things intend to direct Anakin, unknowingly. Anakin isn't getting what he needs in either direction, nor is he providing it. Nor is the Force - stuck in limbo between these two forces of "good" which are shutting out Skywalker from himself and each other.
Neither Obi-wan or Padme ever consider confiding in one another about this for years, nor does the Jedi & the Senate. It's because they do not want to. It's because deep down they do not trust each other, and importantly, they do not trust each other with Anakin. Despite pleasantries with one another, that mistrust is always there implied in the narrative. The only place Anakin overlaps in this realm is the War.
The war ending is almost unfathomable - because who will "win" Anakin? Anakin enjoys being a general in the War because he can fight for both the Jedi and the Senate, beside Obi-wan who is, ultimately, his true friend despite the struggle, and for Padme as a princess ideal on a distant planet. With the Jedi who he desperately wants to be (though they shut him out) and for the ideal of the Senate (but not truly having to deal with its realities). He is his happiest during the war - though it is an temporary balm, an illusion of inner peace.
Obi-wan and Padme orbit Anakin, each with their own gravitational pull -- Anakin is obsessed with and bound to Padme because of his trauma regarding Shmi (not, arguably, because of genuine selfless romantic love), and Anakin is duty-bound and desperate for Obi-wan's approval (despite, truthfully, having ideas and aspirations way outside the Jedi Code and Order). His fate with both of them is on a collision course for destruction from the get-go.
In the story, neither Obi-wan nor Padme end up being the final keeper of Anakin (Luke and Leia). Padme's death can be looked at as a narrative choice to show that Anakin's and Padme's relationship was founded on unstable principles (Shmi). Yet, he could not leave his soul in the hands of the Jedi (Obi-wan) either, and so destroyed them. Anakin's soul, the Chosen One, ends up in the hands of Bail Organa of Alderaan and the Lars family of Tatooine.
In the end, the children need protection from Vader. Vader of course represents the instability in both systems of Good (Senate and Jedi) and the Sith taking advantage of that. How the powers of Good can easily fall to the powers of Evil when they are divided, secretive, and especially when they seek to control for their own self-gain. I.e. Padme marrying Anakin, and Obi-wan being unable to admit Anakin's mistrust of the Jedi was founded.
Obi-wan and Padme are forced to finally confront one another upon Anakin's destruction. They are forced, in a way, to admit they played a part in it - specifically. The fact that Obi-wan essentially becomes the twins' defacto parent becomes all the more poignant because of this. Obi-wan and Padme, for lack of a better term, become one another's problem at last.
Obi-wan and Padme's dynamic is extremely interesting, and they do see one another as intellectual equals, even admire one another for their skill, but this admiration falls very quickly to their subtle mistrust of one another.
In the end, in OWK, it's obvious Obi-wan fondly recalls Padme with more than a little regret. He recalls a woman, who like him lost everything (and more, her own life!). In the kids, Luke and Leia, he sees hope for a better government (Leia) and a better Jedi order (Luke) - an answer to the mistakes of two parallel but unconnected people - Padme and himself.
The fact that the children are twins is a hopeful sign the future of the galaxy will be in harmony, not opposed to one another, as with the symbolism of he and Padme.
Leia and Luke are miraculously, as per the Force, a chance to redo both the Senate and the Jedi - a gift that could only be possible as the children of the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker.
The person they both loved wrong and lost.
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Maul: Perfect Character Foils, In My Opinion
buckle your seat belts this is gonna be a long ass yapfest.
To clarify, this is not a ship post.
for starters, a foil in media is a character that contrasts with another character. these characters are used to highlight the qualities of one or both character. a foil is, generally, an opposite.
Obi-Wan:
this might be controversial to say, but Obi-Wan is the best Jedi. by no means, am I saying that he is the strongest Jedi (though in my opinion he's up there), nor am I saying he is the ideal Jedi. when it comes to the adherence to the Jedi Code and Jedi morals, Obi-Wan excels in a way that others simply do not. He is not without flaws, but his qualities outweigh them.
-> for the sake of my sanity: Love ≠ Attachment -> The issue "Kanan 7" of the canon comic series Star Wars: Kanan offers a differing version of the Jedi Code which I will be using in this analysis as canon, mainly because I prefer it and view it as the more canon of the two. This Code states: "Emotion, yet Peace. Ignorance, yet Knowledge. Passion, yet Serenity. Chaos, yet Harmony. Death, yet the Force."
Emotion, yet Peace: Obi-Wan is not emotionless, he does not allow his emotions to rule him. It is something he had to work at, as seen in the comparison in how he wins Duel of the Fates, in which he uses his anger and despair to defeat Maul, and when he encounters Maul on Mandalore. When he reencounters Maul on Mandalore and Maul kills Satine, he does not lash out and recklessly attack Maul. He allows himself to feel the pain of losing Satine as he holds her as she dies, then is able to regain his sense of Peace and escape Mandalore. As seen in season 7, Satine's death still hurts, but he does not allow that pain to control his choices.
Ignorance, yet Knowledge: This goes without saying, but Obi-Wan is incredibly smart and wise. Though, he knows there is always more to learn. This is what makes him such a skilled duelist. Obi-Wan was not a naturally profoundly skilled fighter, but always kept training and learning and this is what caused him to be the powerful fighter we see in ROTS.
Passion, yet Serenity: The best example of this I believe is Obi-Wan's mental state on Tatooine during the Kenobi series. In the beginning of the series, the Obi-Wan we see is broken, drowning in his despair. By the end of the series, Obi-Wan has reconnected with the Force. Throughout the show, he was about to heal from (some) of the intense pain, guilt, and sadness that came from Anakin's Fall and was absolved of his guilt through Vader's words in the finale. He was able to see Qui-Gon once again through the serenity he found.
Chaos, yet Harmony: Despite the chaos that was the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan did not falter in his core morals and values. Though he became more skeptical of the the Council, he held fast in the morals that the Jedi should represent.
Death, yet the Force: Obi-Wan allows Vader to strike him down and become a Force Ghost. He does not fear death, he trusts in the Force.
Attachment: The best example is Obi-Wan defeating Anakin on Mustafar. Despite his love for his brother and best friend, Obi-Wan was able to strike down Anakin for the chance that the Republic would be saved. He loved him, but he was not willing to sacrifice the galaxy. This is most comparable to Anakin joining Palpatine to save Padme--his love had become possessive, even saying "I can't live without her"--and caused the fall of the Republic and genocide of the Jedi (not bashing on Anakin, i love him, but Anakin Critical). Similarly, Obi-Wan loved Satine and would have left the Order to be with her, but was able to let her go when she chose her duty as Duchess.
This code, as well as the Jedi's focus on conquering the inner Dark, is the baseline for Obi-Wan's character. He is kind and compassionate for all living things.
There are many, many, instances in Obi-Wan's life where he could have and even probably should have Fallen to the Dark Side. Yet he never does. He is tempted, but does not give in. This is best summed up by this quote:
"I think the real tragedy of Obi-Wan was that he deserved better. He played by the rules, he always strived to be better, to be kinder, to be wiser and he never let his friends down. And he lost everything he ever loved anyway. The greatest Jedi who ever lived, the man who sacrificed all that he had, all for a reward of nothing." -Eddie Curtis
Maul:
In perfect contrast to Obi-Wan, I think Maul is the perfect Clone Wars era Sith. Again, I don't think Maul is the strongest Sith, but in relation to the Sith philosophy, he's perfect.
The Sith Code: "Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me."
Passion, strength: Maul, in true Sith fashion, used his emotion to gain strength. His hatred for Obi-Wan kept him alive in junk pits for ~17ish years and allowed him to frankly beat the shit out of Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars episode Revenge (s4 ep22).
Strength, power: This one is self-explanatory, but is best shown by how Maul uses his strength to defeat Pre Viszla in the duel for the Darksaber. This duel and use of his strength allowed him to rule Mandalore for a brief period of time.
Power, victory: Using his power as ruler of Mandalore, Maul was able to lure Obi-Wan to Mandalore where he killed Satine, thus winning a victory over him. While he ultimately did not defeat Sideous, which was his overarching plan, he did not stop in his quest for victory over Obi-Wan.
Victory, freedom: Maul believed that killing Obi-Wan and enacting his revenge would satisfy him and became his purpose. He was consumed by his desire for victory.
Maul was ruled by his emotions, particularly his anger. Despite this, he was cold and calculating. Maul craved power and victory, and often had rage-fueled outbursts at the mere mention of Obi-Wan. -> While Sidious is the most successful Sith, Maul's raw rage and uncontrollable passion are what makes him a more perfect example of the Sith philosophy. Sidious has a strong control over his emotions while the Sith Code preaches unbridled emotion.
Foils:
Where Obi-Wan is the perfect Jedi, Maul is the perfect Sith.
These characters are inherently intertwined, as their first interaction causes a domino effect that makes them the people they become. If Maul was never cut in half by Obi-Wan, he likely would have been murdered by Sidious or a new apprentice (such as Dooku) when he was no longer useful to Sidious's plans. If Maul never killed Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan would not have trained Anakin and become the person we know him as. If you enjoy Legends, it is even possible Obi-Wan would never have been knighted, as Qui-Gon was willing to repudiate him to train Anakin. Both Obi-Wan and Maul were apprentices of a higher power, the Jedi and Sith respectively, and were tools in Sidious's plan. In the Duel of the Fates, they fight over Anakin's fate, with Maul both winning and losing. Both Obi-Wan and Maul are unaware of their impact on the galaxy, but their actions here change everything, including each other.
Their characters cannot exist without the other.
Where Obi-Wan is ruled by a serene mind, Maul is ruled by his emotions. Where Obi-Wan is kind, Maul is equally cruel. Where Obi-Wan loves, Maul hates. They are complete opposites of each other and only highlight the other's personality traits with each interactions. Everything one of them does, the other will inherently do the opposite.
Maul, in a sense, is a symbol of the Dark itself and Obi-Wan is the Light. Neither ever waver from their respective sides. (Mortis fans please don't attack me).
My favorite example of their mirroring is The Duel of the Twin Suns in the Rebels episode Twin Suns (s3 ep20). It is best explained by Sam Witwer, here.
This duel begins with Obi-Wan and Maul's typical opening stances, with Obi-Wan using Soresu and Maul activates both sides of his lightsaber. After a moment, Obi-Wan switches to the Ataru opening stance once used by Qui-Gon, knowing that Maul would attempt to kill him in the same way he killed Qui-Gon. He was correct. Obi-Wan has played that duel on Naboo over and over in his mind and Maul was so set in his ways that he fell right into the trap. Obi-Wan defeats Maul in about three moves when Maul attempted to hit him with the hilt of his saber like he did with Qui-Gon.
What stands out the most to me about this battle, is that Obi-Wan catches Maul and shows him compassion, going as far to close his eyes and even bury his body. Despite the fact Maul killed Qui-Gon, Satine, and was attempting to murder and humiliate him, Obi-Wan is kind to him in his final moments. In this moment, Obi-Wan is compassionate as Jedi should be and Maul was vengeful as Sith should be. They are, in a sense, the Twin Suns. Their characters are narrative twins, so opposite that they become similar.
TLDR:
Maul and Obi-Wan's actions shaped each other into the characters we know them to be starting with the Duel of the Fates.
Rexsoka. Yeah, it's my ship. Still.
I mainly just lurk here, reading fanfic and enjoying the memes. But the angst of the last few has given me the courage to dive in and say a few words.
First, let me clear the air: Rebels was when I started shipping Rexsoka. Prior to their reunion on that show, it had never ever occurred to me to ship them. Despite having read the novels.
So, yeah, look, I totally get the opposition to shipping early Clone Wars Rex and Ahsoka. She's a child. He's a child too, arguably, although his accelerated maturation makes everything super messy. The military structure and fact that Rex is basically a slave means its got power issues galore. Then for those in the US, there is the whole 18 year old age of consent thing (noting, for good or ill, it's 16 most other places). I get why this squicks people. It's the SanSan of Star Wars.
But people grow up. Even on TV.
Season 7 Ahsoka is 17 going on 18, and effectively an adult. She's commanded armies, and just spent a year living and working independently. She is also obviously mature and, frankly, animated that way. Rex is a long term friend, they love and care for each other, and by the end of the season, she basically risks everything for him, and he for her. The episodes are also written in a very obviously shippy way, with the gazing, the chats, the meaningful converstions, the hand holding and the tears. Not to mention that sad, moonlit reunion in Tales of the Jedi.
And although I dont think it matters much, by this time, even taking Rex at double chronological age, the gap is pretty mild by fantasy standards. 17-18 and about 26, roughly the same as Buffy and age-corrected Angel, and way less than Han and Leia.
Fast forward to Rebels, and we have two mature adults with a shared history and goals, who love, trust and admire each other, share common interests, and are amongst the most important people in each other's lives. It's a believable and natural thing for that to progress to something more. The challenges to their relationship are things like, for Ahsoka, the lingering memory of the Jedi code and Anakin and Padme's destructive passion, and Rex's rapid aging, status and limited life experiences. It is those kinds of emotional and external barriers and their shared trauma that make the romance so interesting.
Season 7 + and Rebels Rexsoka is classic friends to lovers, and one of the nicest, softest and most realistic relationships in Star Wars. The opposition to it, and moraliatic shaming of those who like is, is something I simply don't get. It's bizarre. There are heaps of ships that are far, far more problematic (including Anakin/Padme) that don't get this hate.
Like, anti dudes, what exactly *is* the problem here? I suspect the it's that some people just want to get their hate on.
The recent flashbacks? Yeah, that one on Mandalore complicates thing, but I doubt they had stomping on shippers in mind when they cast Ariana, as I have seen suggested elsewhere. The more likely scenario is that - at about 14 yo when this was filmed - Ariana was totally perfect for the first flashback, and is perfect for playing young Ahsoka going forward. Even setting aside that she is an amazing actress, she's insanely athletic and can duel weild light sabres while knee walking though a twist. She's also already tied to Disney. She wasn't quite right for the part, and, I agree, that does make watching it in light of the fanfic a bit uncomfortable. But, it's not just a shipper issue. Putting an Ahsoka that looks and sounds like that in the episodes with the Martez sisters and Bo Katan is weird af too, and doesn't work. I doubt it is meant to.
Story-wise, the best and only real take is that the flashbacks aren't live action replays. The Mandalore scene doesnt even chronologically match what happened (Ahsoka is so fighting Saxon in that scene, which never happened). They are visions about Ahsoka and Anakin and their relationship, not live action replays. Both remember her as a child caught up in a war. Smoke, the fog of war, flashing lights and dying, faceless clones.
And Anakin and Rex.
What I take from these is that in Ahsoka's mind, and Anakin's too for that matter, Rex is always there for her. Standing in the chaos, calm and confident in himself and in her, and looking badass as heck. With an older Ahsoka it would have absolutely been smoking scene from her pov, and no way was it written otherwise. As an older Ahsoka remembering, it's hot. As younger Ahsoka, he's there as her protector and friend.
Do I do ever think this ship will play out on screen? Not, no explicitly. And, yeah, it probably is harder now because of that vision (although if they ever do film a younger Ahsoka series, they will undoubtedly be casting a young actor for Rex, and Ariana will, by then, be 18). But I don't think that was intentional, and I don't think that much has changed. It was always intended to be an "open for interpretation" relationship, written with the possibility not excluded. And I am good with that. Perhaps I even prefer it. Star Wars has a truly dreadful record with romance and, besides, too often cementing subtle or ust-based ships kill them. I just hope this hasn't, because it's still my ship and I love it.
The Bond Between Us ~ 5
THE BOND BETWEEN US MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
< previous chapter
Word Count: 2,900ish
Summary: Ten years pass. Obi-Wan, Anakin, and yourself get put on the same assignment to protect Senator Padme Amidala.
Notes: This is the beginning of Attack Of The Clones! All reblogs, comments, and asks are very much welcome.
Tumblr media
As soon as you arrived back at the Jedi Temple, you and Anakin were separated. You were given a new name, Y/N L/N. You took classes with other younglings on the Jedi Code but due to your ever-increasing power and strength in the Force, the Jedi Council decided that they would train you themselves. You didn’t have a singular Master over your training for instead you had the whole Council. This was because, unbeknownst to anyone who wasn’t on the Council when you were brought before them (even yourself), the Council believed you to be the Chosen One and not your brother. You were more of the perfect example of what a Jedi should be while your brother still followed his emotions, seemingly unable to control them to the Council’s liking.
The Council worked hard to train you and to keep you and Anakin a part. And they were very successful in doing so. You had heard in passing that Anakin was really struggling with the separation. You tried to be a good example in staying strong and doing what the Code asked to try and somehow help him, but you were still young. You had mastered keeping the heartache of separation to yourself, locking it up, and only letting it out when you finally rested at the end of the day.
The only one who seemed to know of your struggle was Obi-Wan. Because he was in charge of Anakin’s training, he had been separated from you as well. The bond was still very much there despite the separation. You had learned more about Force bonds in your teachings and now had more of an understanding of what you and Obi-Wan shared. During your teachings, you had been taught how the bond has been used for both the light and dark side of the Force. You were taught that more of the dark side had bonds than those of the light, slightly scaring you. You had learned to intentionally put up blockers, especially because you wanted Obi-Wan to focus on training Anakin instead of worrying about you. But, especially on the nights where the heartache was really bad, your blockers came down and allowed Obi-Wan to sense you.
The first time he sensed your struggle, Obi-Wan went searching for you in the Jedi Temple. But, even using the Force, he could not find you. The Council had kept your quarters a secret, afraid of Anakin and his attachment issues, and you were doing a good job of helping them do it. You were crying out for comfort through the bond and it was piercing Obi-Wan’s heart. He could not find you to physically help you, so he stopped where he was and closed his eyes. Focusing on you, he wrapped his signature around you. Eventually, you calmed enough to wrap your signature back around his.
Situations like that happened often during the beginning of your training. But as you chose to try and be the best Jedi you could, you eventually began blocking Obi-Wan more and more. It hurt both of you to do so, though you both understood the reasoning behind it.
Ten years had passed since your life changed forever, and you currently found yourself in one of your favorite places in the Jedi Temple: the gardens. You were meditating underneath one of the waterfalls. Your focus in the Force was allowing you to float above the ground with small droplets of water floating around you. Master Yoda smirked as he walked toward you.
“Impressive, young one,” he commented.
You opened your eyes to look at your Master. “Master Yoda,” you greeted, setting yourself down gently. “To what do I owe this pleasure.”
“An assignment, the Council has for you.”
“An assignment?” You had gone on plenty of assignments before, but there was something about the way Master Yoda was coming about this that was causing you to sense that this was different. “What sort of assignment, Master?”
“Senator Amidala’s life endangered, it is. You have been asked for.”
“By who?”
“The Chancellor.”
“Chancellor Palpatine has asked for me personally?”
“Mhm,” Yoda hummed. “You and two others, he has. Protect the Senator, you must.”
You bowed your head. “Of course. May I ask who I will be paired with on this assignment?”
~~~
Obi-Wan and Anakin were riding the elevator up to Senator Amidala’s apartment. Anakin was fixing up his Jedi robes, nervous about seeing Padme again.
“You seem a little on edge,” Obi-Wan commented.
“Not at all,” Anakin responded.
“I haven’t felt you this tense since we fell into that next of gundarks.”
Anakin scoffed. “You fell into that nightmare, Master, and I rescued you, remember?”
“Oh… yes.” Obi-Wan laughed. “You’re sweating. Relax. Take a deep breath.”
“I haven’t seen her in ten years, Master.”
When the elevator opened, Jar Jar Binks was there to greet them.
“Obi?” Jar Jar questioned. “Obi!” He jumped forward and began shaking the Jedi’s hand. “Mesa so smilen to seein yousa!”
“Good to see you again, Jar Jar,” Obi-Wan replied.
“Senator Padme! Mesa palos here!” Jar Jar lead the Jedi into the main room where they could see Padme and her guard looking over the balcony. “Lookie, lookie, Senator. Desa Dei arriven.”
A smile grew on Padme’s face as she walked over. Obi-Wan bowed while Anakin was taking in Padme’s appearance.
“It’s a great pleasure to see you again, milady,” Obi-Wan said. He took her head and gently shook it.
“It has been far too long, Master Kenobi,” Padme replied. She looked over to Anakin, almost having to do a double take. “Ani? My goodness, you’ve grown.”
“So have you,” he responded, almost cringing at his own words. “ Grown more beautiful, I mean. Well, f—for a senator, I mean.”
Padme let out a laugh. “Ani, you’ll always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine.” She turned, leading them to sit down on the couches.
“Our presence here will be invisible, milady, I can assure you,” Obi-Wan told her. “We—“
Obi-Wan was cut off as he sensed a familiar presence nearby. The elevator doors opened and you came walking out. Obi-Wan gasped, taking in the sight of you after these long, ten years. You had grown up beautifully. As you walked, you radiated strength and wisdom. You stood up straight and tall, your head held high. He had to shake his head free of the thoughts building, knowing that those weren’t approved by the Code.
Your eyes immediately found Anakin and Obi-Wan as you exited the elevator. Anakin had definitely grown up, now taller than Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan had changed too. A beard covered his face with a mullet framing his head. You could feel your blockers slipping, allowing you and Obi-Wan to feel the bond you shared after who knows how long it had been. With Padme also in the room, it felt somewhat like home.
“Y/N?” Anakin breathed out, not expecting you. He was trying to prevent himself from running to you. “What are you doing here?”
“Master Yoda has assigned me to this assignment,” you responded, trying to stay calm and collected.
“Chancellor Palpatine requested the three of you,” Padme clarified. “Were you not told that?”
“I’m afraid it must’ve slipped the Council’s mind,” Obi-Wan answered, unable to pull his eyes off you. You came over and sat down beside him.
“Please do carry on with the discussion before,” you pushed. “I will do my best to catch up.”
“I’m Captain Typho of Her Majesty’s security service,” the guard introduced himself. “Queen Jamillia has been informed of your assignment. I am grateful you are here, Master Kenobi. The situation is more dangerous than the Senator will admit.”
“I don’t need more security,” Padme retorted. “I need answers. I want to know who’s trying to kill me.”
“We are here to protect you, Senator, not start an investigation,” Obi-Wan reminded.
“We will find out who’s trying to kill you, Padme,” Anakin added. “I promise you.” Anakin clearly hadn’t changed very much over the years, you noted.
“We will not exceed our mandate, my young Padawan learner.”
“I meant that in the interest of protecting her, Master, of course.”
“We will not go through this exercise again, Anakin, and you will pay attention to my lead.”
Padme looked at you, silently questioning what was going on. You shrugged, unable to know from being separated for ten years.
“Why?” Anakin questioned.
“What?” Obi-Wan responded, taken back by the outspokenness of his Padawan.
“Why else do you think we were assigned to her if not to find the killer? Protection is a job for local security, not Jedi. It’s overkill, Master. Investigation is implied in our mandate.”
“We will do exactly as the Council has instructed. And you will learn your place, young one.”
You flinched slightly as you felt Obi-Wan’s frustration and embarrassment. It had been a long time since the two of you were open quite like this. You reached out with your signature, trying to calm him.
“Perhaps with merely your presence, the mystery surrounding this threat will be revealed,” Padme said, trying to diffuse the tension. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I will retire.”
Padme stood, everyone else standing up as well. Obi-Wan and yourself bowed to her as she walked off. You faced the Captain.
“I know I’ll feel better having you here,” Captain Typho said. “I’ll have an officer stationed on every floor, and I’ll be in the control center downstairs.” He and Obi-Wan walked toward the elevator while you stayed back with Jar Jar and Anakin.
“Mesa busten wit happiness seein yousa both again,” Jar Jar said.
“She hardly even recognized me, Jar Jar,” Anakin replied. “I’ve thought about her every day since we parted and she’s forgotten me completely.”
“You have changed a lot, I may add,” you said, trying not to feel hurt that Anakin was more focused on missing Padme than you. “I hardly recognized you.”
“Shesa happy,” Jar Jar said. “Happier den mesa seein her in a longo time.”
“You’re focusing on the negative, Anakin,” Obi-Wan warned, coming back over. “Be mindful of your thoughts.” He glanced at you quickly. “She was pleased to see us.”
Anakin looked at you and quickly pulled you in for a hug. “I missed you so much,” he whispered.
“I missed you too,” you responded, hugging him back. You pulled away and faced Obi-Wan. “It’s been too long, Master Kenobi. And based on that interaction on the couch, I’m sorry that you’ve had to put up with Anakin by yourself.”
Obi-Wan chuckled. “He hasn’t been easy, I will say.”
“I’m sure,” you agreed with a small laugh.
“He’s standing right here!” Anakin retorted.
“Right. Well, we should go check the security.” You headed back to the elevator, feeling eyes on you. You looked over your shoulder. “You coming boys? Or do I have to do everything?”
~~~
The three of you checked out the main security together before going your separate ways to cover more ground, faster. Obi-Wan and yourself found each other on the way back up to the apartment.
“You, uh,” Obi-Wan paused to clear his throat. He couldn’t understand why he was so nervous. “You seem to have flourished under the teachings of the Council, little star, or so I have heard.”
You inhaled sharply, forgetting how much comfort that nickname gave you. “I have tried to learn as much as I can and not take their teachings for granted,” you responded. “It has been a true honor being taught by the Council themselves.” Obi-Wan nodded. “I… I’ve been waiting until we met again to thank you and to apologize.”
“Apologize?” Obi-Wan’s brow furrowed in confusion as his head snapped to look at you. “For whatever for?”
“You helped me get comfortable here. You used our—“ you stopped yourself from saying bond. You feared what admitting it out loud to Obi-Wan could do. Especially if the bond felt different on his side. “You used the Force to help calm and comfort me…. Until I began to shut you out. I was just trying to focus on my training, I did not want to—“
“Little star,” his hand came up to your shoulder to stop you from fretting too much, “I understood. I knew that you needed to focus on your own training as I needed to focus on training Anakin. I am happy to hear that I could help you in some way.”
You nodded slightly, throwing him a smile. “Thank you, for taking care of Anakin as well. It is clear that he is still very stubborn.”
Obi-Wan sighed, his hand slipping off your shoulder. “Anakin still has much to learn, but he is very powerful and strong.”
“All due to your teachings, I’m sure.”
“I do hope that he has learned a thing or two from me.”
The elevator opened and Obi-Wan followed you out. He noticed you beginning to slip your brown Jedi robe off and quickly came to help you. You shot him a thankful smile.
“Captain Typho has more than enough men downstairs,” you said, walking toward Anakin as Obi-Wan placed your robe over a chair before taking off his own. “No assassin would try that way.”
“Any activity up here?” Obi-Wan asked.
“Quiet as a tomb,” Anakin answered. “I don’t like just waiting here for something to happen to her.” The panel near the hallway leading to Padme’s room beeped.
“What’s going on?”
“Ah, she covered the cameras. I don’t think she liked me watching her.”
“It is a little creepy, Ani,” you said.
“What is she thinking?” Obi-Wan questioned, going up to the panel himself.
“She programmed R2 to warn us if there is an intruder,” Anakin defended.
“There are many other ways to kill a senator.”
“I know, but we also want to catch this assassin, don’t we, Master?”
“You’re using her as bait,” you stated, having figured out Anakin’s plan.
“It was her idea. Don’t worry. No harm will come to her. I can sense everything going on in that room. Trust me.”
“It’s too risky,” Obi-Wan argued. “Besides, your senses aren’t that attuned, my young apprentice.”
“And yours are?”
“Possibly.”
You rolled your eyes. You moved to sit in the hallway and crossed your legs.
“What are you doing, Y/N?” Anakin asked.
“I’m planning on meditating,” you responded, closing your eyes. “Don’t disturb me.”
“Come, Anakin,” Obi-Wan said, leaving you be. He went and stood in the doorway of the balcony, able to keep an eye on you still, while Anakin stood outside on the balcony. “You look tired,” he told his apprentice.
“I don’t sleep well anymore,” Anakin responded.
“Because of your mother?”
That caused your eyes to snap back open. You had been feeling something was off with your mother but had pushed it down while trying to follow the Jedi Code. As much as you missed your mother, you knew that becoming a Jedi made her very proud. You tried not to think about her often, dwelling on her made you long for her even more. But it was clear that Anakin dwelled on her frequently.
“I don’t know why I keep dreaming about her,” Anakin said.
Obi-Wan glanced your way as he walked further out to the balcony. “Dreams pass in time,” he responded.
“I’d much rather dream about Padme. Just being around her again is… intoxicating.” Anakin led them back inside.
“Be mindful of your thoughts, Anakin. They betray you. You’ve made a commitment to the Jedi Order, a commitment not easily broken.”
Something about Obi-Wan’s statements didn’t sit right with you. You furrowed your brows as you put blockers up, trying to go back to meditating.
“And don’t forget, she’s a politician,” the Jedi Master continued, “and they’re not to be trusted.”
“She’s not like the others in the Senate, Master,” Anakin argued.
“It is my experience that Senators focus only on pleasing those who fund their campaigns and they’re in no means scared of forgetting the niceties of democracy in order to get those funds.”
“Not another lecture. At least not on the economics of politics. And besides, you’re generalizing. The Chancellor doesn’t appear to be corrupt.”
“Palpatine is a politician. I have observed that he is very clever in following the passions and the prejudices of the Senators.”
“I think he’s a good man.”
You gasped as you jumped up, sensing something happening in Padme’s room. “I—“
“I sense it too,” Obi-Wan said as you all ran toward her room.
Anakin ignited his lightsaber as the doors slid open and jumped onto Padme’s bed. He sliced the creatures that were crawling over her. Padme sat up with a startled gasp. You and Obi-Wan noticed a droid peeking through the window. Obi-Wan ran and broke through the window, gripping onto the droid as he tried to fly away.
“Stay here!” Anakin told Padme as her people rushed in and Anakin and you rushed out. “Stay with Padme!” Anakin said to you.
“Fine,” you said, slowing down. “Reach me on comms if you need me.”
Anakin nodded, running out to take one of the ships.
If everything went according to plan, Luke would be engaged by the end of the day. He would meet his husband today. He didn’t even know what he looked like. ~*~*~ In an effort to help the recovering planet Mandalore, the Republic agrees to an arranged marriage between the Mand'alor and one of their most eligible bachelors: Luke Skywalker, son of Padme and Anakin. The only hurdle in this match is that the Mand'alor does not speak basic, and Luke does not speak Mando'a.
Second Most Kudos:
Flyboy (1,763 kudos)
DinLuke, E, Din gets to play out a sexual fantasy involving old Rebellion propaganda posters Luke was featured in. My first dinluke fic <3
If there was any one thing that would get Din to join the Rebellion it was this pretty boy who had shown up on the holo-net out of nowhere. He was an X-Wing pilot, judging by the uniform - a tight orange jumpsuit, tousled hair, and a face too pretty for war, in Din’s opinion. Din spends years looking at and fantasizing about the Rebellion pin-up boy, only to find out nearly a decade later that his flyboy fantasy is the last Jedi and his son's new teacher.
Third Most Comments:
DinLuke, T, canon divergent, old men enjoying their lives on Ahch-To with all their Younglings and no First Order
On their first night together, truly together without any beskar or Jedi robes between them, Din had promised that he would go to the far edges of the galaxy for Luke. They were old now, weather-worn and tired. The cold of Ahch-To hand long since sunk into their bones, making them achy before their time. When Luke senses a rising darkness in his padawan, he relocates his school to a more remote and ancient place in pursuit of balance.
Fourth Most Bookmarks:
Skymandolo, E, voyarism, improbable three-way in the Falcon's cockpit
When Han caught Luke and the Mando, he shouldn’t have been surprised. Han knew from his own experience that Luke had a thing for getting off where he could easily get caught. Nearly-empty hallways weren't the exception, they were the rule. “One of these days, kid, I’m gonna catch you two and insist on joining,” he threatened.
Fifth Most Words:
Two You Owe Me (13,770 words)
Skysolo, E, one-sho turned three-shot, Han Solo keeps trying to get it in, but he is a better person that he wants the world to believe, and insists on making it good for Luke. He does finally get there, though. Luke ruins at least one pair of pants.
They had been in the cockpit just a few minutes before. Han was showing Luke some of the Falcon’s modified bells and whistles. And if he had been flirting, who could blame him? He liked a pretty boy with a bratty attitude. But they rarely liked him back. Luke did, though. -- Han gets Luke a little too worked up right before the Medal Ceremony on Yavin 4.
Least Amount of Words:
Flight Training (690 words)
Skysolo, G, they have a vaguely coded conversation about flying.
"Don't you trust me?" Luke asked. "Well, sure I trust you," Han said, "I just worry about your level of experience." ~ Han finally agrees to let Luke fly the Falcon. Despite Luke's skill and experience, Han's obviously nervous about letting Luke take control.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Smut Alphabet
Tumblr media
a/n: Looks like horny manifestos are back on the menu boys! As always, this work is rated M for mature. Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy!
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
He’s… very quiet. Contemplative. Meditative. He is about just about everything but this… if he’s with you, he’s with you. His focus entirely on his connection with you. It’s not attachment. Everything in this life is fleeting- he knows. But the feel of you against him. Holding him. He treasures it. Treasures feeling you and just being with you, no matter how long it lasts, knowing your touch alone is all worth the while.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
Y’all... he’s a Jedi. Vanity isn’t really much of a thing for him (though he must admit, he’s always been quite fond of his hair) . And it’s not really something he considers in terms of physical form either on other people. Honestly, he’ll find just about any feature attractive on anyone… but your energy? The way the force feels around you??? He… he’s drawn to that more than anything else, and in a way that’s very difficult to explain. But it electrifies and soothes him all at once, and it doesn’t quite tempt him exactly, but it certainly produces some kind of need to be nearer to you that he finds very difficult to refrain from.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
His is… oddly light. Pearlescent, has a slight translucency to it (because lets face it, he doesn’t really cum that often and he’s no spring chicken either). But it feels... filling, nonetheless, despite how easily it flows from him (almost river-like), and in turn from you, whether it be inside (which he does not do very often, not unless you want him to) or whether he’s spilled over your stomach or thighs or chest.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Well, the truth is that his dirty secret is... that he doesn’t really have one. Other jedi he’s known have been intimate with others- there’s nothing in the code that forbids that completely, and many do indulge without letting their feelings get in the way (though of course, he’s known others in which it has). But he himself was never really one to partake in such things as much as others in the order, and he’s always been a little bit of an odd man out because of it (not in a bad way- he never felt judgment for it amongst the Jedi and everyone respected his preferences). But the truth is, it was never for a complete lack of wanting on his part. Far from it, in fact. But the reason he doesn’t engage... is because he knows he won’t be able to do such a thing without feeling very deeply for the other person. It’s who he is. He’s compassionate and caring, and when he loves, he loves very deeply. It is hard enough for him not to become attached to a friend (I mean, look at all the pain that the loss of Anakin and Padme wrought him)... but a lover? As much as he may want when his connection to someone runs that deeply... he will refrain himself as much as he can. Not just for his own sake, but for theirs. Because he fully knows in his heart that he will not be able to continue to be a Jedi and uphold the code if he allows himself to go any further.
However, after the fall of the Jedi? When the order no longer exists? Perhaps... if someone were to come along then, who respects this place he comes from, who gives him the wisdom to understand his love in a different way- a way that acknowledges that one day you may part, by circumstance or by death, but that it should never mean that the connection shouldn’t be savored- to give strength to one another while they have it... If someone could do that, he may very well change his mind. (Also exile is lonely as shit can you blame him).
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
He is definitely not as experienced as you might think. Even for a Jedi, Obi-Wan has never really had many sexual inclinations. Or at least, they were extremely rare, and never really went very far at any rate. But his lack of experience doesn’t mean he’s not totally in the dark. He’s very intuitive, and certainly is a fast learner, but more importantly he’s good at asking what to do. Expect him to be fully a padawan at your service if and when things ever get to that point- and know that if it ever does, it means that you mean a great deal to him.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
He loves spooning. LOVES loves spooning. He doesn’t know what it is about it that enraptures him so- perhaps the way your back or chest presses warmly against his, the way he can hold you close against him, and then also explore and please you at the same time. But also, I think, it’s the force. The closer you are to him, the more ascendant the bond you to share through he force feels. And then, should you face each other, he delights in nothing more than to be able to kiss you through it all. To let the force and your actions speak for you both... it makes him feel grounded, stronger, more assured. And he loves that he gets to share that feeling with you.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
Certainly more serious- not entirely without a sense of levity at all, especially when it’s warranted, but you have to understand- for things to go this far with him his emotions for you probably run deeper than you know, but he hopes you feel them, and wants you to feel them too. And that draws in his focus in its entirety. His feelings for you and how deep they run is all that matters. That’s not to say the occasional blooper won’t earn a mirthful chuckle, or that you won’t illicit one yourself in the moment otherwise.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
Y’all saw in that Bacta tank same as I did. Gold all over babey 😌💖and jesus christ sO FLUFFY. Impossibly so, one might say, considering the living conditions on tatooine. But when he does have the opportunity, he does clean up quite nicely and neatly (I mean come on y’all have seen the beard. He takes GREAT care of that thing there’s no doubt in my mind the pubes situation is exactly the same, nice and neatly trimmed but still very natural).
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
Gentle. Unerringly gentle. Not just with you but himself as well. He wants nothing more than holding you close, forehead to forehead and kissing you and holding your hand while the force around you mingles and dances as though electrified. And there is no shortage of sweet nothings to accompany it. Both spoken and unspoken through the force through his feelings and yours. And you both feel it all. And he’s needed this. He never realized how much, but he’s glad he has it now, and he’s glad it’s with you.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Ok but he absolutely does jack it on the reg. Once a week at least. To feel some release is relaxing to him- part of his rhythm, helps him feel at peace with himself a little. He tends to focus on the release itself- hardly ever pictures anyone in particular when he does it… sometimes an old love, but nothing more…
… but when you came along? It throws him off this rhythm a little. He finds himself restless a little more than once a week, now. Feeling the need to indulge himself a little more. And moreover when he does, he can’t help but focus his pleasure on you… Imagining how you might kiss his lips, how you might place your hands on his chest, caress his skin… It overwhelms him quite quickly too.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
Hehe… edging… bc… y’know… patience….
Nah I’m kidding... kinda but not really. He honestly likes being teased. He liked it a bit more in the old days- a little friendly push and pull was never beyond him, but... nowadays he finds himself driven to a pleading mess from such a thing. Maybe it’s his solitude that changed this in him, but he quite enjoys it when you leave him hanging just a little too long. When he’s driven to say what he needs and what he wants which is always, ultimately, you. And how sweet it is, then, when you give into him (which is always, and considering the look on his face how could anyone resist him for long?), but until he does, he is as patient as any Jedi Master before you, hanging on your every word, aching for your touch. He also quite enjoys praise, both giving and receiving. Words of affirmation both for him and for you are very important to him. And... yeah. He may be a little cheeky every now and again and use the force on you. Nothing too inappropriate, mind you, but it can certainly help with awkward positioning sometimes, and even take some of the edge off of the work for you or for him and that’s ok (he’s an old man y’all and he’s doing his best already. He can use the force to help him bounce you on his dick if he likes). Oh, and if you can flip the script and use it on him as well? He’s a goner. Done. Dead. Too good.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
“Oh no lets keep this confined to the bedroom shall we?” Yeah. He’s... not an exhibitionist by any stretch of the imagination. If he’s gonna do it he’s gonna have you in a bed - whether that bed is exactly a proper bed, he’s a little bit more flexible about- but he wants to be able to properly be with you and you alone. He also quite likes having sex in the refresher. He’s not sure why, but the warmth enveloping you both, watching the water flow like the force itself over and around you... it makes him feel close to you, and want to be closer to you as a result. Also the casual intimacy of bathing each other afterwards is a big plus for him.
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Well, an entry point to it is certainly compassion. It’s sort of one of the biggest qualities in a person that will initially endear you to him... but really? At the root of it? It’s wisdom that turns him on the most. He’s spent too much time these last ten years so lost... and for someone who can talk him back to himself, who understands and can get on his level, who may not share his views fully but has a greater understanding of the universe... someone who can help him make sense of it all and who he can help in turn is something that is rare indeed, and it only makes him want you all the more for it.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He will never hold dominion over you. Never. It is far too dark a thing and he simply cannot abide it. He just doesn’t have it in his heart to degrade, or hurt (yes even in play) or take ownership of you even in theory because it’s simply not what he believes and he could never have it in him to tip the scales. Balance. That is what rings true and good and loving to him and even in intimacy it holds true for him. Your partnership is one of equals in all things. A good majority of kinks and ideas of dom/sub play are out the door for this reason for him.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
Well, in the mind of a Jedi, service is a virtue... but even without that code ingrained into his very being, Obi-Wan does find that he loves giving that kind of pleasure to you more than receiving it himself. He wants nothing more than for you to know equal pleasure at his hands- if not even more in his devotion to his love for you. And he gives it so easily, willingly, and quite skillfully at that. It might take him a little time to learn your particular preferences, but he’s nothing if not a fast learner, and someone who has put absolutely way too much thought into this ahead of time. Now to turn it the other way around on him? That might be a little bit more of a challenge. To have him let go, for him to give into you for a change. It feels a little too lewd for him at first, but when he reaches out with the force and realizes that you actually enjoy doing this to him, he realizes that there’s a level of reciprocity that he hadn’t considered. That the pleasure is mutual... that eases his mind enough to allow his mind to relax and enjoy your mouth on him. In time, he might even come to enjoy it just as much as giving the same thing to you.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
Oh slow and sensual all the way. And deep- hitting, too. His strokes are warm, and slow, and seem to always peak in quickness whenever he’s about to bury into you to the hilt. It feels like his cock is kissing you so deeply when it hits the right spot inside you- and he always manages to find it, somehow with an ease you would never expect. But he does. Every time.  And it only draws him to you even closer. So in short, force sensitive men fuck the best, and among them Obi-Wan might be the best.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
Not the biggest fan if he’s honest. Like I said, if he’s going to be intimate with you, he wants to be able to treat you to the experience as properly as possible- and he will be happy to wait to be able to do that. The best he’ll do is steal a kiss, hidden away in a secluded corner, away from prying eyes, especially if he feels the love for you swelling in his chest so much it begins to ache, but nothing further. Not until he knows for certain you’ll be safe together.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
To be perfectly honest? Not very much. He enjoys the vanilla act more than enough in and of itself thank you very much… but that’s not to say he’s not always mentally taking notes about what turns him and you on, and is willing to take a calculated risk based on those notes. It will no doubt come as a surprise- but none of them unwelcome, and none of them of course without your consent. And of course, he will ALWAYS be upfront about hearing you out on things you want to try as well.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
… Obi-Wan’s stamina is truly mystifying. The world may never know if it’s the force, or the midichlorian count, or just Obi-Wan’s very nature in and of itself that allows him to last as long as he does (which- is certainly longer than an average man), but let me tell you- it’s an unusually common occurrence with him to spill himself either on or in you, pull out for a moment (and I mean a very brief moment), then push back in- still impossibly hard enough to keep fucking you until you reach your own climax, and then cum again himself. Again- deadass testing would have to be done to unravel the mysteries of his stamina, but it is an experience unlike any other for sure.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
Well, he certainly knows such a thing exists, but he himself is much more of a hands only kinda guy (tried and true, gets the job done), always has been. If he were back on Coruscant, he would know where to buy such a thing exactly, but he’d never felt the need to use them. However for your pleasure? He’s certainly up for it, and would enjoy exploring the use of toys with you on himself as well, after a while. After all you seem to enjoy them quite a bit, and loves seeing how deep in pleasure you become when you do use them... he would quite like the same for himself, if he’s honest.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Just a little. It’s not always necessarily intentional- the way he’ll spend so much time kissing your thighs or shoulders or neck, or spend time just feeling you, running his hands everywhere they can possibly touch and holding you close to him. But the feel of you warms him to his very core, and considering how cold and closed-off he’s felt from connection of any kind for so long, he can’t help but savor this. To him, it’s even more important than the sex itself, actually. But wanting to satisfy you as well, he’ll quickly snap out of such a mindset.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
Every moan from Obi-Wan is a gasp. A rush of surprise entering and leaving his lungs and filling him in a way he’s never known before. It’s a feeling not unlike air, or water, or the force, or all that which life requires, and yet it is all of them at once, or perhaps so obscured in how it blends with all these things to the point it feels like nothing like any one of them at all- their own being entirely that he’s not sure how to describe. And it leaves him breathy, and warm, and soothing like a salve of desire that flares across your skin, your chest, your neck, your lips.
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
His favorite thing in the world is casual intimacy, not in the sense of sex without attachment, but intimate gestures without fanfare. Bar none. It’s sort of the most important thing for him in any relationship that goes into romantic territory beyond friendship if he’s honest. He wants to know you completely. It’s what made him want more with you in the first place. So being able to simply hold your hand through all this, to caress your face and for you to touch him in the same way... it really means more to him than you know. Please casually lovingly touch this man like really he’s been through a lot and he needs this more even than the actual sex honestly.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
I’m not gonna mince it. He has an exquisite cock. He’s about 6 ½ inches give or take (mostly give- he’s a grower for sure). Not extraordinarily girthy but certainly on the thicker side as a whole, and tapers more at the base than at the tip. And oh god the tip is just… perfectly balanced (as all things should be). Round-headed and very smooth, and well flared but not too wide either. He has a gentle curve to him and a low-sitting underside (and he knows how to use it to your advantage. He will hit the spot without fail. Every time.) When he’s hard, he flushes a nice shade of rouge, and there’s a beautiful constellation of moles that runs along his shaft and his balls too (which, are a bit bigger than average and also impossibly velvety. That’s just the thing with him like is there secret jedi dick care manscaping they teach or what???? But my god he feels nice all over always all the time it’s frustrating just thinking about it.)
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
Honestly pretty low on the whole. Desire does not strike him too often, and especially back in the days of the Jedi Order there was little to yearn about, much more important matters for him to focus on. But there are certain exceptions- especially when he feels deeply for someone, and when he does feel romantic attraction, it does increase quite a bit. He doesn’t get uncontrollably horny or anything though, no. His desires overtake him more slowly. Errant thoughts here and there, which grow to yearning for even the smallest touch, the simplest kisses. It goes no further than that in his mind- but it entices him to the point that when what were once just daydreams become a reality, especially with you… the floodgates open- and the dam of his desire breaks into want- true want to be close to you- as close as two people can possibly be.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Not too long... but not long at all, actually, and that’s a good thing. He’s used to sleepless nights and horrible dreams... memories, really, that haunt him. He thought they very well may do until the end of his days for a very long time. But with you there’s no fear. No pain. Not in your arms and in your bed and with you. And would that he could he would speak with you long into the hours of the night, to tell you as such, but he never has to because the truth is you already know. You always do. And there will always be time to speak it in the world (for force or no, he wants to tell you himself. He needs to), but for now, it allows him to rest his eyes, to feel you near and know that the force is still with him and you. Always.
If Anakin and Padme got married when Anakin was still a Padawan did they even break the Jedi code? Cause when you become a Jedi knight it’s like your vow to be good, blah, blah, blah. But Anakin was ALREADY married.
It’s like how all your sins don’t count before you are confirmed Catholic. Constantine got baptized on his death bed or whatever so he was technically sinless(in the eyes of the church) despite committing genocide.
Oh Anakin you should have told Obi-Wan he would have found you a loop-hole.
Part four to: this
__________________________________________________
Despite popular belief, Anakin was not totally unaware. He knew his Master had a crush on his Commander, he just wasn't sure what to do with that information. On one hand, it was nice to see Obi-wan focusing his, attentions, on beings other then the Sith they fought- But a part of him also wanted to pull a face because, gross, his dad equivalent was flirting.
In a weird sort of way, Cody and Obi-wan just seemed to fit. Anakin could only compare it to how he felt with Padme- like the match was simply set in the stars, it just took time to flourish. Anakin thinks they bring out the best of each other, and they covered each others flaws too. Anakin didn't like Cody's hesitation, however, and fought the protective urge to shake the man into just doing something. He didn't like Obi-wans crestfallen expressions the longer Cody didn't reciprocate his flirting He didn't like it one bit.
He decided, then and there, that he was going to help. He'd be subtle of course- Anakin can totally be subtle. Obi-wan deserved this, Anakin feels like everyone deserves love. He's just not understanding about the Code, isn't it against it? Isn't this exactly why he and Padme are hiding their relationship? He felt like he needs to look into what the Code actually says, but that was for another day. Now, he had plans to make.
Rex, of course, seemed to be on to him. Anakin would likely have to coordinate with the clone soon.
This was gonna be so wizard.
