Please acknowledge Bleakwatch Chronicles, Tinker Bell and the Lost City. I understand that BW chronicles may not have as much fans and are turned off by the art style. Also the author never posted (Zack Loran Clark) much promo for the book unlike Allison, nor mentioned anything about DF on his IG page. It is intended for a younger audience. However, I am much more excited for this book as it pertains to the movie universe. So please, just clap if you believe if you will.

As this is the first book to come out since 2017 that is labeled as "Disney Fairies" and the second spinoff- like this is important. You don't have to buy the book or give it the free promotion, but acknowledge the existence of it at least. WoS is not labeled as DF, if it matters.

Here are some of the reasons why I am more excited for Bleakwatch Chronicles than I am for Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft (Clarion x Milori YA Novel):

It's a post canon story implied to take reference to the cancelled Tinker Academy movie where TB goes to study at the Tinker Academy on the mainland. The art seems like they took references especially when directly compared to the concept art. WoS is a backstory.

It releases first, BWC releases in November 2024 and WoS releases in Feb.

It seems like more of original concept to me, literally because of the new concepts like the Flutterpunks and the implied secret cities of the Bleakwatch and Clockwork Capital.

New characters like Quin and Ozwald will be joining TB on this journey.

It expands on a old concept, and tweaks it in a way that makes more sense. IMO, an idea like a Tinker Academy seems to hold less weight because before the events of Tinker Bell fairies couldn't go to the mainland to spread nature, and it's implied they always stay. It is also implied in GFR that Tinker fairies don't typically go to the mainland even if TB's inventions help them in the intensive summer season (the song implies that's why she's there- it's implied in the first movie she goes there whenever she has a job) Vidia is dismayed by this and says "this is why Tinker fairies don't go to the mainland" whilst TB is checking out the car. In a deleted storyboard for Tinker Academy it is implied that it is a prestigious academy that FM gets into before the events of Tinker Bell, yet to me the idea of underground London tinkers makes more sense to me than the academy. Think about it, it's implied that TB and FM are some of the most brilliant Tinkers in pixie hollow and yet the Tinker population is small. (only Clank and Bobble greet her and we see no one in green outfits) Why do you think that is? I personally like the idea of rogue Tinkers who would scavenge on the mainland for parts and self-exile themselves from Pixie Hollow. It explains why FM calls the lost things junk, if the difference in mindset between the mainland tinkers and the pixie hollow tinkers was that the mainland Tinkers are considered "scraps" (get it) while the PH tinkers are considered more put together and community driven. It makes sense that TB being a brilliant Tinker that outshines even Vidia gets such an audience if brilliant Tinkers do not normally last in PH because they are seen as too curious and ambitious, opting to start their own community of outcast Tinkers in the mainland. Vidia's talent switch in The Pirate Fairy also implies that Tinkers have the gift of thought, and literally think differently (regardless of personality) then their non-tinker peers because it's their talent. There is much potential for this storyline as it adds more nuance to the Tinker Bell movie and the dynamic between the nature and non nature talents, something I think it would benefit from. It makes a lot of sense if the edgier steampunk designs came from a secret Tinker counterculture and not a secret academy imo.

The implication of this book suggest revitalizing the Disney Fairies franchise, possibly not just as a "brand". Not sure what that could mean but it's interesting

IMO, Wings of Starlight has more of a "booktok" vibe I'm getting from it. I'm not just saying that because it's YA, but given the (beautiful) cover design it feels more targeted for what Disney thinks grown fans of Disney Fairies might like based on whatever market research was done (and you know it was). WoS has been receiving better marketing and there are people out here that don't even know two books exist. I'm not saying the book looks lazy, slapped together, or unoriginal- or it will just be corporate and bland, I mean I'm a Disney Fairies fan I don't believe that everything is corporate greed lol and like to see creativity in the "unexpected". But I hope that future Disney Fairies books won't just be going for what is "trendy" to reel people in and instead invest in creative storytelling *in general*, in other words I hope they keep concepts and genres broad and inclusive enough so we have the potential for more creative stories. Not just expanded stories on specific characters and stories like the Twisted Tales series, or sticking to specific genres for this specific niche audience in a way that feels too specific. I feel like there has to be some sort of balance struck, or DF may be a little stuck for a while and may still have "missed potential".

On expanded stories, like I said, Disney has done a lot of that and there is an audience for that. However, I prefer the idea of post canon more than a backstory or expansion. From what I know, we know some details of the Milarion backstory and it will be adding more layers and expanding on the dynamics of the existing characters, where the new book seems to be more lore driven in focus.

I don't like Secret of the Wings that much in terms of lore as a lore fanatic. I feel like this book could also retcon other things when possibly trying to explain things that make sense in SOTW. If BWC is good, I can imagine myself thinking about it more after it releases but I can just imagine myself thinking more of how I felt and my emotional reaction after WoS with fading interest afterward, it just sort of feels like the book could resonate with me more y'know? and I got a pretty good gut feeling for that sort of thing.

Underdog bias, just acknowledge it's existence. Do that with the NG graphic novels from 2022, heck the whole Never Girls series. Do that with the whole DF franchise if you are new here somehow. That's it, that's the post.

The mystery. What is the mysterious pocketwatch and who's on the cover?

Copy and pasted plot summary- Tinker Bell loves nothing more than solving a problem. For her, red buttons demand to be pushed, treasure maps need to be followed, and lost things ought to be found. So when a strange fairy crash lands in Pixie Hollow and leaves Tinker Bell two clues to find a mysterious necklace on the Mainland, she really doesn’t have a choice but to help. However, her journey takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a hidden city of fairies living below the streets of London.

In this city called Bleakwatch, she’ll meet the Flutterpunks, the most infamous band of trinket scavengers around. Helping her may just give them their biggest score yet. But when the Flutterpunks’ plan goes haywire, they’ll be forced to choose between a big payday or saving their new friend.

When their adventure takes them inside the glittering Clockwork Capital, Tinker Bell and the Flutterpunks will uncover a villainous secret that threatens all the fairies in Bleakwatch. It turns out there’s more at stake than just finding a missing necklace, and it’ll be up to Tinker Bell to set things right. Luckily, that’s what tinker fairies do best!

Firstly, I believe the second book will be focused on another character taking off from what happened.

I have a few things to contribute on what I think could happen in the next book (second) and what I want to happen:

Firstly, Bartleby is lying to his subjects so I believe the Flutterpunks aren't safe at all- nor is any former/current aeronaut. It's possible the others had been detained now. Everything we see from Bartleby is a well orchestrated lie- perhaps for Tinker Bell and that he backstabbed the Flutterpunks. I think he has strong skills in prediction and detecting chance. I believe Elmira was supposedly the masked singing talent who weaved in political subtext and hidden messages of Bartleby in her work. Now that she's recovered she can reveal the true plan and operation he has for the tinkers and aeronauts, and why he staged the removal/arrest of Maddox.

Secondly, I don't believe Tinker Bell has plot armor and I believe a tragedy will strike Tinker Bell and another character or (characters) will be the lead- taking up the work for them. We will follow Tinker Bell and Elmira for the first act, then something will happen to her.

I personally believe the character or characters will be playing detective to find out what is going on. The reason I think this is that the book mentioned the mystery/detective genre (Inspector Misty Steppe: Gnome Market Detective) being popular in Bleakwatch as a cultural difference as they have commerce in Bleakwatch- therefore theft. While BW was sort of like an adventure, I think Bleakwatch 2 be sort of in the style of a mystery/detective novel. I believe because Tinker Bell was in the title in the first one, another fairy or fairies will lead the second one. And- speaking of the mystery/detective genre, I couldn't help but think of the play Case of the Missing Sparkles from Pixie Hollow Online featuring Iridessa and her persona of Bright Eyes. It's a stretch Bright Eyes will come back, but I think it's possible Iridessa could lead a detective story possibly with another fairy that would make it funny or interesting like Vidia, Rosetta, Silvermist or Fawn. The story already has borrowed from early concepts so it's possible Bright Eyes could have been from somewhere other than Pixie Hollow Online, or it's good enough to revisit. Iridessa leading a story can be very intriguing as the stakes are getting higher and she's an anxious yet determined character.

It's possible we could get books with duos so every character can shine without getting their own book.

I think BW2 will focus on plot more than worldbuilding, but that we will have worldbuilding.

The connections to the books, timeline wise I wouldn't like- it could get messy. I don't think we will see an arrival day of one of those characters BUT having a new arrival of PH/BW would connect in general with Quin's arc in the first book. It would also be a good plot obstacle, because the arrivals are special events.

Dream dross connects to the magic of "belief/dreams" I think in this universe and overall Peter Pan esque lore and could overall be connected to overall Peter Pan and Neverland lore/worldbuilding. You know how Peter Pan's shadow is alive? I wonder if that will be explained with Shadow talents.

Detective duo with an Iridessa and Rosetta dynamic could be fun, they had one established in the first Tinker Bell that was rarely used.. Iridessa focused would be good for diversity and inclusion, as she has the least amount of attention in the franchise

There was some art done including color athat was never used so I believe illustrations will be kept to a minimum. They seem to use freelance illustrators a lot now I noticed.

In BW2, I think we will wonder why there are so much "unique phenomena" on the fairy mainland. Bartleby might know more about fairy magic and how to manipulate it. Is the golden dustcap, dream talent and shadow talent- nature... or nurture?

More clock imagery, possibly time travel? Is Misty Steppe perhaps Silvermist time traveled then fictionalized? who knows lol

Hopes And Wants For The Next Bleakwacth Book

Fly with you! So Tinker Bell and the Lost City has been out for several months and though we have yet to confirm when or if there will be another book, here are a few things I hope we can see in the next entry in the Bleakwatch series.

I've divided these ideas into ones that I think will or probably will happen and least likely to happen. Some of them are no brainers, but here's hoping I can start a discussion. If you have anything to add, don't hesitate to respond!

Things likely to happen:

Tink's friends get involved: I think in some way or another, Tink's friends will make their way to Bleakwatch. Maybe they'll help liberate the mainland fairies, maybe they'll be accidentally captured during the changing of the seasons, or they may not be involved at all. They've shown that Tinker Bell doesn't always need or include her friends on adventures (Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure), but it would be an odd choice to make this a solo adventure. I would love to see all of friends make it to Bleakwatch, even Clank and Bobble, but I would be opened to other fairies too. We haven't seen Terrence in a while. Also it might be a great way to bring back Zarina and see how far she's come with pixie dust alchemy. Maybe even Elizabeth could appear!

2. New Fairy Characters: This is a given, we will no doubt get more characters. But I'm hoping for more new characters with depth, not just minor characters. Which leads to the next point.

3. In depth Look at the New Talents: This is also a given considering two of The Flutter Punks have the new talents. Maybe in the second book, it could be about Quin trying to keep the group together, but they're all too engrossed with their new talents guilds. While everyone else is off making new friends, Quin worries about their family splitting up for good.

4. Dream Dross: As stated in the book, the mainland fairies need dream dross in order to restore the Golden Dustcap and create pixie dust. We will probably see how they collect dream dross since one Axel is a new dream-talent fairy. I also wouldn't mind seeing exactly what the factory does with dream dross.

Things Least Likely to Happen

Book connection: The next Disney Fairies book to release is Wings of Starlight which will go over the history between Queen Clarion and Lord Milori. As stated by King Bartleby, Clarion was a young ruler when he still lived in Pixie Hollow. It's possible Bartleby could make an appearance in Wings of Starlight.

2. Universe Connections: Related to the above point, maybe we can finally bridge the gaps between the movie universe and the book universe. Personally, I'm fine with keep the two separated. But I also feel like there's a lot in the books that I wish were incorporated into both universes. Specifically character, like how great would if be if a new arrival arrived and it turned out to be Rani or Beck? It's a long shot and pretty low on my list but I miss fairies like Lily and Bess.

3. Illustrations: Though the illustrations in the beginning of the book are fine, I would like if they added more illustrations throughout the book, like the previous Disney Fairy chapter books did.

eis que, numa das vezes que o pessoal se reúne no seu apartamento, felipe ouve você e suas amigas conversando sobre homens e preferências em homens. lógico, você ouvindo bem mais do que falando - até porque não tem muito o que reclamar, ele real tem sido mt legal contigo além de ter um pau muito gostoso e falar umas sacanagens em espanhol quando fodem - ATÉ que o tópico "cabelo/barba" entra em jogo, e você já alegrinha do álcool solta um "nossa, mas homem com bigodinho é tudo também, é bem aquela música da pipokinha". E TIPO, QUEM CARALHOS É PIPOKINHA??? ele não sabe, então fica assim 🤨 pelo resto do rolê, todo encucado. até que, conseguindo falar com um colega de curso, pergunta e o mlk ri deixando o otaño de braços cruzados e um beição que significa qual foi, olhando e querendo explicações. quando o abençoado mostra a música pra ele, é tal qual uma revelação divina. os olhinhos azuis brilhando e arregalando um cadinho "aahh saquei".

então ele fica decidido. é isso que a mulher dele gosta? é isso que ela vai ter😤 e ai vai te cozinhar por três semanas - dando graças a deus que tá tendo prova e trabalho pra ambos - ganhando tempo pro bigodelson dele crescer. e mesmo com você mandando mensagem, pedindo pra ele ir no seu apê, pedindo pra irem tomar sorvete, implorando pra ele te macetar na pica depois de uma prova fudida de análise de comportamento, ele nega tudo, vai desviando, chega ao ponto de você ter certeza que ele vai terminar contigo. mas, acaba que ele te convida pra ir numa festinha da atlética e subitamente todas as preocupações somem.

então você tá lá, toda gatinha miss bumbum, bebendo e rindo de alguma palhaçada que alguma colega disse, e começa a tocar "bota, bota, bota o bigode na minha xota" o quê você e as demais cantam num coro bem potente e animado. até você ter sua cintura abraçada e ser surrupiada do grupinho, sem entender. felipe te puxa e logo mais se vira, sem dar tempo que você veja o rostinho dele. "amor, que isso? pra onde a gente vai?", e nada de resposta - e como vc tá carentinha e bêbada, nem liga muito, só precisava ficar com ele mesmo - "fefe, fala comigooo".

quando cês tão no estacionamento perto do teu carro ele vira e você fica atônita, boquinha entreaberta e olhando fixamente, deixando o argentino tão sem graça que coça a nuca e dá uma risadinha (só quando ele vê a tua reação percebe que foi muito bobalhudo de ficar todo aquele tempo longe, porque tava morrendo de saudade e a troco de quê? de crescer uma penugem grossa no rosto aff).

a ficha cai pra ti muito rápido, você é uma boa observadora, então logo sorri de canto e morde o inferior. "então era isso que vc tava me escondendo, é? boludo safado", fica na ponta dos pés pra envolver os braços no pescoço do maior. vai te chupar por meia hora seguida, envolvendo só teu pontinho e mamando ao passo que o caldinho que cê solta encharca o bigode e a mão dele, toda chorosa, segurando nos fios castanhos (dps de ter jogado o bonézinho de praxi pra longe), rebolando a pelve e gemendo igual putinha. vai te comer depois metendo beeem fundo, estocando lento e forte enquanto se segura num dos assentos ali e na sua perna que ele mantém apoiada em si mesmo, arranhando e estapeando sua coxa quando a tensão fica insustentável. mantém os olhos fixos em ti "você é tão gostozinha" (com o sotaque argentino que faz o z ter som de ç). "dale, amor... goza comigo", pede quando tá por um triz de se desfazer. e libera tudo dentro já que você toma remédio controlado.

"se eu soubesse que você tinha tara em bigode... tinha deixado crescer antes". ele fala enquanto tá recuperando fôlego, sentadinho, suado e fazendo carinho na sua panturrilha. "eu gosto do seu rosto sem bigode também, fica gostoso pra sentar na sua cara". vocês dão risada juntinhos e passam mais um tempinho ali dentro antes de resolverem se limpar e voltar pra muvuca.

Iridessa related rant: There's an interesting thing with Iridessa being afraid of the dark that wasn't used outside like... Iridessa and the Secret of The Never Mine and the Ring of Belief treatment. I really wish that her character could have been explored more... I used to be it was a deliberate choice for whoever's in charge cutting most of her segments because of time or whatever, but now I'm inclined to believe that it's also the people above them as well and it was a problem within the production of this series.

Iridessa is one of the most underdeveloped character in this franchise and it's really a shame. She had a cut scene with Terence teaching him etiquette for a tea party, and many more scenes in movies to be deliberately cut. She's not often the fan favorite, usually Vidia or Silvermist are.

There was a deliberate choice to shrink the presence of the "supporting" cast when tweaking the series, and it really makes me mad. Additionally, the characters of color got hit the hardest when it came to the changes, which makes it sad because these characters are representation and they don't get much screen time. Iridessa became more high strung than she was in earlier renditions. SIlvermist was changed completely to someone who was more serious to someone who was "laid back", which translated to like- "ditsy" on screen. I get it, it's Tinker Bell's movie, but it's also Tinker Bell's world, we should know more of the supporting characters. Anything that doesn't move the plot along I guess was considered filler and this method of storytelling just feels wrong to me. It cut screen time, and relegated other aspects of character to stuff like shorts which were mainly used for advertising. I don't see anything wrong with "fluff" like character acting and small moments that don't push the story around, especially dialogue removed from like a specific plot related context. Even so these shorts often are plot driven and not character driven. The ones made before the movie that used the older character models showed aspect of character, but were mostly silent shorts. There were very few shorts that focused on a character specifically instead of promoting a movie, and those were the shorts made in between some movies- very in between. The shorts post SOTW are kind of different because they stopped making pixie previews sometime after.

When the fairy school from the early treatment was modified to become Tinker's Nook, it also separated Tink from the rest of the cast. She no longer spends as much time with them, so we don't get a lot of moments of the character. The friends don't feel like best friends, but rather more casual friends. The thing is, the shorts do most of the heavy lifting of being the "meat and potatoes" of like the characters being actual characters, the friends being friends, because they only have a minute to tell what they do, and we can see what they like to do and the other things they get up to. This is a real shame, this feels less like "show don't tell" but more like "only show what's needed to like a T" when it came to the movies.

The thing is, I think the writers took the wrong lesson. They saw the original treatment of Tinker Bell and it's poor story structure as a lesson and said "here's what not to do!" even though characters having chemistry isn't as simple as just showing them on screen having interactions. But for some reason, the people from Pixar seemed to think that was a pinnacle of "show don't tell" and that everything about the original story with it's character driven angst and various other beats will only alienate the audience. However, this ended up making significant cuts to like... the depth of the characters. It was a trade off that didn't end up working out, there's a balance between this sort of stuff with characters, surely right? I guess that's what you get after having to write a movie in less than a year. It's sad though, cause they had a whole franchise to really highlight everyone, and they didn't...

It's a real shame though, you can tell the How I Train shorts were supposed to add more character to one's who wouldn't get as much time in Rosetta's special, Vidia, Silvermist, Fawn etc. Iridessa has one little moment with her partner where we actually see her, focus on her, and she's putting pixie dust on the teacup with the games partner only to pathetically inch on the ceiling when it's too much. Sure, like it was nice I guess to show one of my favorite characters have such a silly moment, y'know, again for the hundredth time. That's why I love smaller moments that give her character more depth, show her taking charge and being brave like in the climax of Tinker Bell or when she saved everyone in Great Fairy Rescue. However, that is often overshadowed with the highlight moments of literally every other character in the franchise. The act of being brave as a stress ridden character is very beautiful. However, we often don't see Iridessa outside of this very consistent theme of "concise and particular/stern" and chronically anxious/cautious. That's all we get from her typically, that's why she's often the least favorite overall as we see in polls...

To think that this short probably made it to animatic for someone to say it was "too scary" because of the spiders and cave is really ridiculous. I like to see that a character has some aspects of self-awareness and wanting to change, and it's a shame because I know she has potential and we don't get to see it utilized that much in the series on both of those aspects. Even worse when we see her anxiety being played for comedic effect, when we are basically seeing her in pain. I know lessons of bravery are very important to see, but she never got any...

most people think it's self explained, these two are light fairies

however, these two have similar and yet slightly different personalities (to me at least. if you ever say fira and iridessa are basically the same character, or that fira's character traits are too vague from what we have on her its on sight)

fira is a character that is anxious like iridessa, but its implied at same time she is a bubbly character where iridessa is more mellow, fira can also be mellow sure but has a sunnier vibe

its slightly canon that fira over worries, iridessa also does this but her worries are more logical (fira thought the eclipse made the sun disappear, where dessa worries about things that are possible)

ive shipped this since 2021 when making my own blog (this one) but i think them <3 so you will too

rarepair but NOT a crackship because it makes logical sense as a ship, despite the few interactions they have in canon due to the book characters sometimes not being included in the "main canon" sometimes and not some other times. iridessa was also introduced in the books first, wearing a blue and yellow number similar to firas, and fira and iridessa have been written in books coexisting in universes leaning more book or leaning more movie (maybe) so its not exactly a book/movie ship, but it isnt exactly not a book/movie ship

canon to the book "iridessa and the secret of the never mine" (a book that never released in the us and is buried as a pdf so ill make sure to make it more accessible to everyone) that these two wont stop talking to eachother, to the annoyance of others. they start talking in the mine and they are told to stop and they are like "we'll pick this up at dinner" so precious

hc- iridessa is more likely to get angry that fira

half a hc- fairies have different glows, and i think they sometimes get warmth too- i feel like if iridessa is ever cold (she seems like the type to get cold easily despite the temp outside) she would hover near fira

hc- fira is the only one who can take iridessa's anxiousness

there is evidence to support her having a soft side and to her getting along with rani, when she snowboards and is greatful for the snow day. the second is in a comic on her with a scavenger hunt, and they actually work together

"a bell to rise" as from velodrome by dessa. idk if it's meant to be referencing the pavlov experiment in the song or not but it seems like it to me, and it's also about sleeping. when i first saw the placeholder description you were using i assumed it was fluff, but all the snippets i've seen do not feel very fluffy, so to me it has the Vibes (obviously only as far as i can know so far).

Oh I am gnawing this like a bone.

First- the bells. The sleeping. I don’t believe my will’s quite free. Oh I’m having some sort of brainwave about this.

Now my initial reaction was a I’m-Not-Sure because literally every chapter title I’ve been playing with has been scraped wholesale from a variety of songs by The Wonder Years that found me at the right time. They’re angry, upset ‘what do I do with this broken piece I never asked for’ songs.

The vibe, since you asked, is a two-edged sword. As jamie settles into Richmond, his guard lowers, but with it comes most of the barriers he’d built up over the years, leading to small things triggering smaller memories that weren’t the worst of it, but he’s never had the space to process any of it, so there it fucking is. The first half of the ‘bell.’

But then there’s also Roy Kent, who’s the other bell here, because the only reason this keeps happening is there’s a stupid part in Jamie’s animal brain that associated Roy with being safe in his room with someone looking over him.

In other words I started with a cute idea (aww Jamie sleepy) and then uh. Made it sort of not fluffy at all. Oops.

Except the back half! The back half is pretty soft.

It’s like 1/3 soft!

Anyways back to the song, yes. I’m gnawing on the bone and the bone is telling me there’s something here. Something about how the back half is softer, so maybe the tempo of the music should change.

Summary: Months after a horrible birthday, you’re happy with new friends, but soon you’ll find out that you have to face your family once again.

It’s been three months and they haven’t come to see you. Not a single one of them. So either they don’t care and haven’t looked for you, or they just can’t find you. However, that’s a stupid thought because they could send Azriel, he is the spymaster after all.

You have to keep telling yourself you don’t care because it's easier that way. Thinking about it for too long would cause you to spiral. One that you’re not sure you could get out of.

On the bright side of all of this, you’ve made friends with your coworkers, and know a few regulars by name.

Benny has been the most helpful through it all. Was there even when you were being stubborn and trying to pull away completely. Trying to isolate yourself so nothing and no one can hurt you again.

The first week after you had moved into the apartment above the bar—which isn’t nearly as bad as it sounds—she taught you how to pour drinks, what bottle is what on the shelf, how to clean glasses efficiently, but best of all, how to deal with all kinds of fae who decide to wander in. The worst of which were creepy males who couldn’t take no for an answer.

Benny kept your mind busy, doing anything and everything she could, giving you advice despite not asking for it. One of the most freeing feelings was no guilt when you went shopping for the first time since being on your own, now you don’t feel like you owe anyone when you spend a single dollar.

Your coworkers were the next best thing for getting your mind away from your family. Odessa—the black-haired female—is probably your favourite person other than Benny. She looked quite intimidating at first but once you got to know her she was a sweetheart—kind and funny. Quick to make you feel at home. She is also a busybody, not that you complain.

Speaking of Odessa, she’s standing in front of you, her hip leaning on the edge of the bar, animatedly moving her hands as she ranted about her latest experience with ‘irritating males’ as she so kindly put it.

“Gods, then he tried to buy me a drink even though I told him I wasn’t interested again.” Exasperated, she finishes her story with a scoff and an eye-roll. You purse your lips and lift your guilty gaze to meet hers, the female tilts her head at your expression, and her mouth drops open, ��Were you not listening to me?” she exclaims.

You place the glass that you were drying down on the bar top. A heavy breath leaving you and an apologetic look on your face, “I was Dessa, I promise. I just got in my head.” Mumbling the last part. A playful glare graces her features, and then a smile tugs at the corner of her lips, “You're lucky you’re good at your job. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be so nice.” A snort escapes you at that.

Just as you were about to retort, a hand harshly claps your shoulder, “She is good at her job, but she won’t be if she keeps getting distracted by you. Now go on.” The deep voice shoos her away. Frowning in return, she grabs a tray of drinks and stalks off with a crude gesture thrown over her shoulder at him.

You turn to see scruffy brown hair and tanned skin—Dominic. who is the biggest and most intimidating male you’ve ever seen, also an older male, with faint lines on his scowling face. He still won't tell you how old he is. You'd have to guess he's older than the males in the inner circle.

He raises his eyebrows at you. Flushing slightly upon realising that he must have asked you a question, while you were lost in thought. Again.

A sharp exhale passes through his lips, waving a hand in exasperation, “Can you please go check on the boys in the back? They're taking far too long to just bring out a couple of crates of booze.” With a curt nod, you turn and head into the kitchen.

Scanning the room, you find the two males you were sent to find. Oberon and Tarian, chatting away while seated in the corner. You arch a brow at the sight, arms crossing over your chest. The huff you let out pulls their attention to you, a friendly smile from Tarian and a feline smirk from Oberon sent your way.

“Dominic wants to know what’s taking you so long to get the new crates of liquor.” Grimaces shift their expressions. They share a look before turning back to you. Oberon's cropped blonde hair falls across his forehead at the movement, blue eyes meeting your own. Lips pulled into his previous smirk. “Wasn't Adem supposed to help?”

An incredulous look twists your features. “Just do it.” You grumble before turning to leave. “y/n.” Tarian’s raspy voice grabs your attention. Pale skin glimmering in the soft lights, “Cover for us?” mousy-coloured curls bouncing slightly with a tilt of his head. Grey eyes glittered with mischief.

You scoff before you exit the kitchen. “No. I got in trouble last time.” snickers are heard from behind you at that, though you do hear bottles clink together, indicating they had finally decided to do their job.

Blue hair flashes across your vision, Benny stepping into your path. “Break time.” voice with a singsong tone. Just as you're about to argue that you had your last one not too long ago, she cuts in. “Your last break was about five hours ago.” her arms folded over her chest.

Eyes widening before giving her a small defeated nod, you follow her to the bar's entrance, passing Adem on the way. The red-haired male gives you a smile, which you return as you pass through the door.

The inner circle has been miserable, sulking over every word you had yelled at them. Truly realising their own mistakes soon after the door had slammed closed behind them. Not going to look for you, with the excuse of wanting to give you space. Three months of space isn’t enough it seems.

Azriel immediately sent a few shadows after you to make sure you’d be okay. Well as okay as one could be after a horrific birthday. Those same shadows hadn’t left your side since. You haven’t noticed them yet, but it was only a matter of time before you did. Swirling dark tendrils aren’t exactly the most discrete thing when one is walking in broad daylight.

He had felt horrible that he hadn’t said anything when you looked at him that night. He just couldn’t bring himself to say that he was the only one who didn’t forget your day. Or the fact he had gotten you a present and hadn’t given it to you. The day after you left, he had given the present to Benny to give to you, which she did, but fulfilled his wish to not say it was from him. Already Feeling bad enough for not giving you it himself.

Walking down the cobbled streets of Valaris was something he and his brothers had done for years, though since Rhys had been crowned high lord, it was rare for them to get that time. The three of them looking for a place to maybe have lunch, or just sit and have a nice chat. Any excuse to spend just a couple more hours together. Their mates had sent them off so they could have a ‘girls’ day’ at home, which is most likely a cover to plan how to make it up to you.

A pointy elbow jabs Azriel in the ribs, pulling him out of his thoughts with a pained grunt. Glaring up at his brother, Cassian only replies with a snort. “What was that for?” Azriel grits out, hand rubbing his side.

“You’re brooding. No brooding on boys’ day.” At his words, a chuckle escapes from Rhysand who’s on Cassian’s otherside.

“I am not brooding.” Azriel grumbles. “Fine then, moping.” Cassian’s words have that same teasing tone as when they’re sparring, trying to rile him up as much as possible

Opening his mouth to growl out a retort, shining blue hair flashes from across the street at a Cafe, catching Cass’ attention. “Benny!” His booming voice yells towards her.

Head snapping in the direction that her name came from. a beaming smile stretching across her features seeing the three boys.

Before Rhys or Az can pull him back, Cassians already bounding over to her, pulling her into a hug before she could take a seat at her table. A laugh bubbles from her chest, hugging him back.

Joining them, Rhys grins at her, And Azriel gives her a nod of acknowledgement. “Long time no see. How’ve you boys been?” her smile still clear in her voice.

“We’ve been great, how about you? Are you having a late lunch all by yourself?” Rhysand’s voice has his usual charming lilt to it.

“I’ve been good too. Not alone, my friend is in the bathroom.” Azriel’s attention is pulled towards the bathroom door as if he could tell who her friend was from where he is standing. “Haven't seen you all in nearly a century. Busy with mates now I assume.” more a question than a statement.

“Yup,” Cassian enthusiastically pops the ‘p’ “you need to meet them, you’ll love them.” A loud, over exaggerated gasp gets pulled from him. “We should all go to your bar for dinner and drinks.” Beaming, likes it’s his best idea he’s ever had.

Benny’s own smile grows in response. “I'd love that. I’ll even reserve your old favourite table. Though I might have to pull two together considering how much your family’s grown.

a bark of excited laughter is pulled from Cassian. Rhys pulls him away before he can distract her from her lunch any more than he already has. “Sounds like a plan. Let’s leave you to it, and we’ll see you in a couple days?”

“I’ll save a couple tables for you.” She embraces each of them, before pulling away and waving them off, to finally sit down.

They depart with smiles and waves, then head off to find a place for them to have their lunch. Azriel can’t help but look over his shoulder hoping to catch a glimpse of who she’s with. Before they round a corner and are out of sight, he sees exactly who it is. You.

You exit the toilet and make your way over to the table Benny had chosen outside. The food and coffee you had picked now waiting for you.

As you pull your chair out, she turns her gaze back to you, a grin gracing her cerulean features. Deciding to ignore the mischievous undertones of that look, you pick up the pastry sitting in front of you and take a bite.

“We're going to be busy in a couple of days. A couple tables have been booked.” She speaks as if it’s an afterthought.

Your brows pull together at her words. “Since when did we reserve tables?” you inquire, never having heard that was a possibility for the bar. “We don't. They’re just special guests.” her voice light as she picks up her coffee, signalling that she won’t be answering any more questions.

Glancing in the direction that held her attention previously, you find nothing. whoever it was must’ve been important for Benny to change her usual routine with the bar. choosing not to dwell on it for too long, you turn back to the female in front of you, to enjoy your lunch.
