I have an especially stupid idea for you all today. One day Charles comes back to the office with a bisexual flag patch added on his coat. Crystal and Niko immediately flag it like "!!!!!" and ask him about it. He just smiles and says "Pretty mint, right? It's got all of your favourite colours." pointing out each colour for Edwin, Crystal and Niko.

Crystal and Niko would love to be touched by this gesture if they weren't busy crying at his ignorance.

It gets worse when he passes Edwin a button with multiple different blue stripes saying that it reminded him of his best mate. Edwin also doesn't know why both girls have their heads in their hands. He thinks this is a lovely gift.

Charles and Edwin rendition of Wicked’s “Popular” where Charles “aces with people” Rowland tries to help Edwin “not good with people” Payne learn social skills. And every time Edwin tries to follow Charles’s instructions it feels wrong, it’s not that he’s not doing it as instructed it’s just that somehow Charles doesn’t… like it. Edwin smiles and says something polite and Charles thinks that’s not my Edwin, and whoever it is, I don’t think I like him as much.

So Charles says okay, maybe not that social skill, let’s try a different one, or a more modern outfit, or some slang, but everything he tries is a downgrade, he realizes, with one thing after another after another.

And eventually he realizes there is absolutely no version of Edwin that is as good as the snippy emotion-skittish kind over-informative condescending witty old-fashioned sharp brilliant Edwin he met because that Edwin was already -

i think Niko being Edwin's wingman is extremely cute, sweet and makes sense, but considering that the last date Niko set up resulted in someone dying, i think there's a certain amount of angst potential too... having Edwin even uncharacteristically being the one asking Niko to help him with Charles but finding that she's strangely reluctant now... Niko excitedly starting to make suggestions as if it's her natural instinct, but cutting herself off... all in fear of repeating what happened last time...
