Hi, first of all, thank you so much for your work! I want to ask you about an information you shared in one of your posts. You published that Tina Aumont, Jane Birkin and Pia Kazan wore the same dress, a beautiful mini floral and sequinned dress in the latest 1960's. Do you know from what designer or brand it was? I would be very grateful if you could tell me. I have searched it in internet but I have not found any answers. I am also a Canarian like Tina Aumont's mother.
Have a nice day, thanks in advanced.
Hi Diana!!!! Hola!! :D
Thank you very much for your kind words ^^ I really love Tina and through her I'm learning about her sweet and great family!!
It's really nice you are Canarian as Maria Montez' dad!! I'm from Spain actually, but I made the posts in English to make it more international, hehehe.
About the dress, I've been looking for some information but I didn't get any, I've put the link here in case someone wants to have a look and give us some information... It would be great!!!
EDIT: I've just knew Jane Birkin passed away today, may she rest in peace...
_____
Hola Diana!!
Eleni xxx

Herbert Mundin, Diana Wynyard, Clive Brook, and Una O'Connor in Cavalcade (Frank Lloyd, 1933)
Cast: Diana Wynyard, Clive Brook, Una O'Connor, Herbert Mundin, Beryl Mercer, Irene Browne, Tempe Pigott, Merle Tottenham, Frank Lawton, Ursula Jeans. Screenplay: Reginald Berkeley, based on a play by Noël Coward. Cinematography: John F. Seitz. Art direction: William S. Darling. Film editing: Margaret Clancey.
There are lots of forgettable best picture Oscar winners: Who today watches The Great Ziegfeld (Robert Z. Leonard, 1936), The Life of Emile Zola (William Dieterle, 1937), or Gentleman's Agreement (Elia Kazan, 1947)? But Cavalcade may be the most forgettable (and forgotten) of them all. Based on a play by Noël Coward adapted by Reginald Berkeley and Sonya Levien, it's the saga of 33 years in the lives of a wealthy London couple, Robert (Clive Brook) and Jane Marryot (Diana Wynyard). Its portrait of their lives and the lives of their servants may have inspired the popular British TV series Upstairs Downstairs, and through it the even more popular Downton Abbey, both of which cover pretty much the same time period. In Cavalcade, as in the two TV series, the families suffer losses from the sinking of the Titanic and from World War I, and experience the social upheaval of a changing class system. But Cavalcade tries to cram it all into less than two hours, and tends to be more blatantly nostalgic about the passing scene. Unlike the creators of the later TV series, Coward and his adapters didn't have the benefit in 1933 of seeing what effect the events of the first third of the twentieth century would have on Britain and the world. It settles for a bit of prophecy in the form of a montage in which various talking heads rant about disarmament, communism, atheism, Christianity, and other ideologies, including a rather corny scene in a louche night club where same-sex couples seem to be on the verge of making out. (The film is pre-Code, so the strictures against depicting homosexuality haven't kicked in yet, though it's clear that the film -- despite Coward's own sexual orientation -- disapproves of it.) In addition to the best picture Oscar, Cavalcade also won a second Oscar for its director, Frank Lloyd, who had been the first director to be so honored, for The Divine Lady (1929). Wynyard also received a nomination for best actress, losing to a newcomer, Katharine Hepburn in Morning Glory (Lowell Sherman, 1933). Wynyard had a more successful career on stage than in movies. In Cavalcade she tries to register emotion by staring meditatively into the middle distance, often seeming like she has spotted something troubling on the wallpaper. The rest of the cast includes Herbert Mundin and Una O'Connor as the Marryots' servants, and Frank Lawton as Joe Marryot, the younger son, all three of whom would be reunited in a much better movie, David Copperfield (George Cukor, 1935). For the record, some of the films that Cavalcade beat for best picture include 42nd Street (Lloyd Bacon), I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang (Mervyn LeRoy), and Little Women (Cukor), all of which are more highly watchable today.

oc characters as romantic comedies?
ivy: return to me ("heartbroken and struggling emotionally after his wife's death in a car accident, bob rueland (david duchovny) agrees to go on a blind date set up by his friend Charlie (david alan grier). though the date fizzles, sparks fly between bob and the waitress, grace (minnie driver), a recovered heart transplant patient with intimacy problems of her own. when bob discovers grace's heart came from his own organ donor wife, an unusual romance blossoms between the two.")
meredith: sabrina ("sabrina fairchild (julia ormond) is a chauffeur's daughter who grew up with the wealthy larrabee family. she always had unreciprocated feelings for david (greg kinnear), the family's younger son and playboy. but after returning from paris, sabrina has become a glamorous woman who gets david's attention. his older, work-minded brother linus (harrison ford) thinks their courtship is bad for the family business and tries to break them up -- but then he starts to fall for her too.")
diana: life partners ("a 29-year-old lawyer (gillian jacobs) and her lesbian best friend (leighton meester) experience a dramatic shift in their longtime bond after one enters a serious relationship.")
alassie: the wedding singer ("set in 1985, adam sandler plays a nice guy with a broken heart who's stuck in one of the most romantic jobs in the world, a wedding singer. he loses all hope when he is abandoned at the altar by his fiancé. he meets a young woman named julia (drew barrymore), who enlists his help to plan her wedding. he falls in love with her and must win her over before she gets married.")
ramona: under the tuscan sun ("when frances mayes (diane lane) learns her husband is cheating on her from a writer whom she gave a bad review, her life is turned upside down. in an attempt to bring her out of a deep depression, her best friend, patti (sandra oh), encourages frances to take a tour of italy. during the trip, the new divorcée impulsively decides to purchase a rural tuscan villa and struggles to start her life anew amid colorful local characters, including the handsome marcello (raoul bova).")
rhea: music and lyrics ("former music superstar alex fletcher (hugh grant) used to pack them in back in the 1980s, but now he is reduced to playing nostalgia tours and county fairs. he scores a chance at a major comeback when reigning pop diva cora corman (haley bennett) asks him to write a song for her, but he hasn't written anything in years and cannot compose lyrics anyway. noticing that sophie (drew barrymore), the plant lady, has a way with words, alex proposes that he and sophie make beautiful music together.")
cornelia: man up ("when a man (simon pegg) mistakes her for his blind date, a woman (lake bell) decides to play along to see what happens.")
kaden: my big fat greek wedding ("everyone in the portokalos family worries about toula (nia vardalos). still unmarried at 30 years old, she works at dancing zorba's, the greek restaurant owned by her parents, gus (michael constantine) and maria (lainie kazan). after taking a job at her aunt's travel agency, she falls in love with ian miller (john corbett), a teacher who is tall, handsome and definitely not greek. toula isn't sure which will be more upsetting to her father, that ian is a foreigner or that he's a vegetarian.")
andreia: wimbledon ("frustrated at his own failures and disillusioned with professional sports, tennis player peter colt (paul bettany) resolves to retire from competition and become an instructor at an exclusive private club. but when colt receives a surprise wild-card berth in wimbledon, he can't help but enter the tournament. soon, colt meets lizzie bradbury (kirsten dunst), a beautiful american tennis player with an upcoming match of her own, and finds the inspiration he hopes will turn his luck around.")
suzy: you've got mail ("struggling boutique bookseller kathleen kelly (meg ryan) hates joe fox (tom hanks), the owner of a corporate foxbooks chain store that just moved in across the street. when they meet online, however, they begin an intense and anonymous Internet romance, oblivious of each other's true identity. eventually joe learns that the enchanting woman he's involved with is actually his business rival. he must now struggle to reconcile his real-life dislike for her with the cyber love he's come to feel.")
samuel: 10 things I hate about you ("kat stratford (julia stiles) is beautiful, smart and quite abrasive to most of her fellow teens, meaning that she doesn't attract many boys. unfortunately for her younger sister, bianca (larisa oleynik), house rules say that she can't date until kat has a boyfriend, so strings are pulled to set the dour damsel up for a romance. soon kat crosses paths with handsome new arrival patrick verona (heath ledger). will kat let her guard down enough to fall for the effortlessly charming Patrick?")
bianca: 13 going on 30 ("a girl who's sick of the social strictures of junior high is transformed into a grownup overnight. In this feel-good fairy tale, teenager jenna (christa b. allen) wants a boyfriend, and when she's unable to find one, she fantasizes about being a well-adjusted adult. suddenly, her secret desire becomes a reality, and she is transformed into a 30-year-old (jennifer garner). but adulthood, with its own set of male-female challenges, isn't as easy as it looks.")
archibald: sleeping with other people ("twelve years after a one-night stand, a man (jason sudeikis) and a woman (alison brie) run into each other and try to maintain a platonic relationship despite their mutual attraction.")
raphael: bride and prejudice ("with four beautiful daughters of marrying age, manorama (nadira babbar) and chaman bakshi (anupam kher) frantically seek out the perfect husbands for their children. yet their eldest daughter, lalita (aishwarya rai), is intent upon marrying at her own choosing, for love. lalita endures a number of hopeful suitors, but the american william darcy (martin henderson) seems different -- and not always in a good way. misunderstandings, schemes and lies threaten to keep the two from true love.")

what books/poems do you recommend to people who don’t read a lot but wanna get back into it? btw i hope you have a lovely day :-)
ooh okay! firstly i think smth to keep in mind is that easing yourself back into reading is a process and that you should do it however you feel best works for you. i’m speaking from personal experience... don’t beat yourself up abt not reading enough (or fast enough); just the act of reading is smth enriching and special and it’s so good of you to do this for yourself! as for recommendations... hmm
rereading books you enjoyed as a kid is so good! bc it doesn’t require the mental effort needed to start something new but at the end of the day you’re still reading a proper book! which is nice
sign up for poem-a-day & poem of the day! it’s nice to have daily poems sitting in your inbox for u to read. i’ve discovered a lot of my favorite poets this way :-)
books to check out: feel free by zadie smith, howl’s moving castle by diana wynne jones, circe by madeline miller, the death of the moth & other essays by virginia woolf, mosquitoland by david arnold, lighthousekeeping by jeanette winterson, the book of delights by ross gay, the star of kazan by eva ibbotson, aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe by benjamin alire sáenz, the awakening by kate chopin, little weirds by jenny slate
poetry to check out: here’s a reclist i made of some good poems to read! also start with mary oliver because i adore her and i think her work is a wonderful place to start. here’s devotions, a selection of her poems. try lucille clifton’s poetry too!
i also have a to read tag with a lot of really good recommendations that i’ve found some really good books through, so maybe try going through that and see if anything catches your eye!

December 2020 Books
Little Women, Little Men, Jo’s Boys, Eight Cousins, and Rose in Bloom by Louisa May Alcott (reread)
This reread gave me a new appreciation for LW and its strength in depicting lifelike, complex characters (and as much as its romances have dominated adaptations and public perception, at its core it’s a novel of character development). The characters start to lose their realism in LM, and JB’s cast primarily feels like they’re filling roles more than living. I had forgotten how soapboxy Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom can be, but some of Alcott’s compelling characterization is still present (Mac Campbell a notable example).
Nomad by R. J. Anderson (reread)
I had forgotten a lot of this one and loved rereading it in preparation for Torch’s publication. Knowing now what I do about a certain character opened some foreshadowing and hints in the later chapters.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (reread)
I try to reread this every Christmas. Every year Dickens impresses me again.
The Girl with the Glass Bird by Esme Kerr
I wanted to love this one (ordinary child obligated to be a sort of servant to a more privileged child at a boarding school--I am literally writing this plot), but while I didn’t dislike it, it didn’t quite live up to my characterization expectations.
The Star of Kazan by Eva Ibbotson
Ibbotson’s depiction of turn-of-the-century Vienna is beautifully immersive--she makes me want to visit while simultaneously making me feel present there. Most of the plot was compelling, but I’m not a huge fan of Ibbotson’s approach to antagonists (rather Rowling/Dahl-esque, if you follow me) and would have preferred a more nuanced approach. (Accidentally-on-purpose causing someone to fall down stairs and having no remorse when that person is thought to be dead is okay if the victim is nasty???)
Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones
Not my favorite of Jones’s books but a fun read. Although I’m still trying to process the unfortunate implications of a twist at the end.
Mixed Magics by Diana Wynne Jones
While I didn’t love every short story in this collection, getting to see more of Chrestomanci and the various children he acquires (especially Cat and Tonino’s relationship) was the best part.
There is a villain named Master Spiderman. No, really.
Greenglass House by Kate Milford
Gorgeous setting, fascinating premise, but I can’t put my finger on why this one was rather a slog to read. And I’m not sure if the twist feels sufficiently credible for the book’s established world or not.
The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery (reread)
Reread on a whim while I was waiting for my ride to the airport and ended up accompanying me on the trip.
Octagon Magic by Andre Norton
Atmospheric children’s book involving a lonely young heroine, a mysterious old house, and a dollhouse that somehow enables time travel, with some surprisingly mature treatment of themes about interpersonal connection--in short, my sort of book.
The Velvet Room by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
Comparable thematically to Octagon Magic (without the time travel/magic element) and written with no less depth and atmosphericness. A book I wish I had could have read as a child.
Peppermints in the Parlor by Barbara Brooks Wallace
Has all the Victorian gothic melodrama that my child self would have eaten up. While it’s not the most plausible plot in the world, Wallace pulls off this sort of story so well that I as an adult reader enjoyed it as much as I would have years ago.
Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography by Laura Ingalls Wilder, edited and annotated by Pamela Smith Hill
So. much. fascinating information about Wilder’s life and how it informed and differed from the consciously fictionalized version she creates in the Little House books. I especially loved all the photographs of Wilder’s characters’ real-life counterparts.

_________________________________________
Personality:
As one of the most popular students in RSA, Dimitri had earned the title of a "charismatic dreamboat" for a number of reasons.
His interest in herbology and all sorts of horticulture, his easily likable personality, and especially his appearance. All of that bundled up together and you essentially get the charismatic dreamboat that makes people swoon.
Being the stepbrother of Azrail, their relationship was quite strained and incredibly awkward. And oftentimes they'd disagree with each other.
Azrail was a pessimist. But Dimitri was an optimistic pessimist. He knows of the cruel realities of the world, but chooses to see the positives and sometimes even disregards the negatives.
As time went on, Dimitri eventually managed to have a good relationship with Azrail. Even though Azrail has commented on his overall overprotective nature, he still finds his stepbrother rather endearing and enjoyable to be around.
Now, as much as one would like to be around Dimitri. Many in RSA agree that he isn't the best person to provoke.
Hell at this point, he and Zenith have a pretty fearsome reputation for being ridiculously violent.
However, unlike Zenith, Dimitri has more patience. He's willing to let thought-provoking words go over his head because he doesn't intend to make every single person like him.
But even if that's the case, that wouldn't exactly stop Dimitri from throwing several punches at people for disrespecting him.
_________________________________________
Unique Magic: { Stolen harvest } (盗まれた収穫)
_________________________________________
Song: Spring and Summer(Vivaldi)
In similarity to how Demeter stole the chances of harvest in the disappearance of her daughter, Persephone, Dimitri shares a somewhat similar ability.
But unlike Demeter, Dimitri's…. Mostly less protective of Azrail.
And though he doesn't use his gift that much, he appreciates that it allows him to be petty as hell.
To gather the magical energy of anyone around him requires someone with an unfathomable amount of magical energy themselves.
And it's comforting knowing that Dimitri is strong enough to handle such power.
It's at its strongest during spring and summer, but slowly gets weaker in terms of effectiveness by the time autumn hits. Which is the opposite of Azrail's ability.
Name Meaning
Dimitri: Meaning "Follower of Demeter" , and is an extension of the Greek name "Demetrius"
Ceres: The Roman equivalent of Demeter
Despoina: Supposedly a variant of Persephone. The name itself means "Lady" or "Mistress" in Greek
Trivia
Dimitri spends most of his time in the RSA gardens, or near the campus fountain when people aren't around
Though his relationship with Azrail started off a bit strained and awkward due to the remarriage of their parents, they did manage to grow closer over time
Somewhat wished he and Azrail weren't in rival schools, but finds the rivalry hilariously entertaining
Plays around with other people's magical energy, but is generous enough to float it back to their bodies
Has read the same fanfiction over and over again, and still cries over it even if he knows what happens
Has been wishing to write a novel and has been given some assistance from his underclassman, Azure Ekoms
Adores old movies for legitimately no reason other than the nostalgia, he particularly finds enjoyment in silent films
His love for makeup stemmed from the habit of putting on his stepmother's makeup in order to play dress up with his father
Is surprisingly aggressive when he's dancing, especially in dance battles
Doesn't really approve much of Idia, but he'll tolerate him if he makes Azrail happy
Has given Azrail some personal insight when he's working on his herbology projects
Azrail admits that Dimitri is far more knowledgeable with horticulture than he ever will
Much like Azrail, Dimitri's soul is intertwined with a god through a blessing. His soul is intertwined with Demeter, the mother of Persephone

Her şeye ilişkin ... Önceleri kendi kabuğunda, kimseden beğeni görmeden yaşayan, ama sonunda başarıya ulaşan şairi düşünün. Hayalinde neler canlandırmaz; Hoffman'la arkadaşlığı, Bartolome Gecesi, Diana Vernon, Kazan şehri alınırken İvan Vasilyeviç'in kahramanlığı, Klara Mobray, Evfia Dens, Yan Gus'un Papazlar Konseyi'nin önündeki duruşu, Robcrt'de ölülerin dirilmesi ... (Bunun müziğini anımsar mısınız? Sanki mezarlık kokar. ..
Çünkü o, her istediğinin üstündedir, her şeye sahiptir; her şeyi kanıksamıştır. Petersburg'a özgü garip, fantastik bir sabah ışığı odayı aydınlatmıştır.

I’m not sure about what this song and how to describe it. Free traveling maybe?
Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCQcjqyQkac&ab_channel=
Both sandals are filled with dust In search of genius - in a spiral The road beckons with flakes of air No voice, allergy
Not much is needed Lipstick kiss Nevada coast And iced coffee When you are welcome Love until you drop And a rainy tango! So let's run down the highway!
This is my zero kilometer! Devours the September afternoon An orchestra is playing on wheels Stone by stone, stone by stone This is my zero kilometer! Starting countdown from Kazan We'll build the Chinese Wall here! Stone by stone
Crossing current distance Continuous echo of silent confessions I'll give you a kiss and three words No voice, allergy - so much is needed
Bed sheet and pajamas Princess Diana's gaze And binge in the spring Two more bananas Koala color tenderness Maybe just tired? Well, let's run along the highway!
This is my zero kilometer! Devours the September afternoon An orchestra is playing on wheels Stone by stone, stone by stone
This is my zero kilometer! Starting countdown from Kazan We'll build the Chinese Wall here! Stone by stone, stone by stone Stone by stone, stone by stone
