im watching blood of youth and have made it to ep 6 so far, and it is starting to grow on me after episode 5. however, since i've seen a few comparisons between the two which have led to my watching it, i would not say it has a similar vibe to mysterious lotus casebook, so i would not recommend watching one because you like the other and hope to find something similar.
to clarify, the vibe i get so far from BoY is very similar to a shounen . it has the young teenage protagonists on a grand mission, the companions coming to each other's aid, it has the fighting spirit, the leveling up (even the training sequences with hype music!) Possibly, it is also more of a traditional wuxia (but experts pls weigh in on this) because there is a much greater focus on fighting and overcoming adversities in a martial arts context. i understand there is a great political intrigue coming up at the end, so maybe things will change. for now, i see a lot about martial arts with impressive visuals, youths choosing their paths regardless of the previous generations' choices (a theme i like!) and about growth and breaking out of the shell in general
mysterious lotus casebook leans strongly towards murder-mystery and intrigues. it also deals a lot less with the passion of youth as a theme. the protagonists are older (li lianhua and di feisheng should be in their early thirties, fang duobing is likely around 20, but it's not specified). the mood varies wildly, but it's sometimes a soft ghibli and sometimes an eerie ghost story... it deals with accepting the fragility of human life, haunting/escaping the narrative, closure, death and rebirth, being queer (yeah, i'm saying this), mirror sides of human bonds and their sometimes coincidental, brittle but precious nature... despite impressive fight sequences, leveling up in martial arts really falls to the far background. much of the heart of the story is li xiangyi being given a chance to make his goodbyes to the jiang hu, but also living again as li lianhua.
also, a point that seems minor, but can lead to very different feels: the visuals of both shows are different. mysterious lotus casebook is soft colors and low contrast. it's crisp fights, but barely any magical attacks and few effects. it makes up for the lack of special effects with agile and artistic camera work, and smart use of speed, as well as elegance in the choreography. blood of youth uses more highly saturated colors. the visuals are aimed at impressing. the cgi is very decent, and can lead to a pleasant image on their own, but sharp moves are also used. i think if you come out of BoY and head into MLC expecting the same level of visual shock, you might come out thinking MLC has less impressive fights. or on the contrary, if you are not into cgi at all, you might head into BoY and think it's overkill.
not saying that you can't enjoy both! i adore MLC to death, but i enjoy a good shounen and i am starting to enjoy BoY. so far, i feel like they've told very well what they set out to tell, but i would not pit the two against each other in an objective manner. they feel like apples and pears to me, despite some jokes feeling similar (xiao se being a miser, li lianhua being an iron rooster, wu xin's bad cooking, li lianhua's bad cooking etc) the atmosphere of the two shows have extremely different vibes to me. MLC feels like blossoms falling softly on grass and waterfalls, BoY (so far) feels like setting off firecrackers and a storm on the rise. they are love letters to different aspects of the jiang hu. if you want to tackle both, please don't expect the same thing out of the two

[RECORDED BROADCAST: 1700.115] - Chasing Wind
CW: I knew that my facility ground was home to a few scavenger tribes, but I never realized that each region would house different kinds of tribes with different beliefs and social system CW: I've noted that each region except for myself, the Void Source, the Great Lake, and the Sewer System has housed ONE tribe each. With a total of 11 different tribes inside my facility ground:
The Megakarta Tribe (Mega Kingdom). This scavenger tribe lives in the city of Megakarta above my rooftop. This tribe might be the most advanced of the other tribes because they have access to the ancient technology and knowledge that were left behind when they all ascended. This tribe might also be the biggest with around 500 scavengers in population, quite a number for such a species. Unlike other tribes, they aren't led by a chieftain but by a King. And in the latest survey scan, I found out he was named Sama-Sama by his people.
The Urbaningrum Tribe (Urban Tribe). This scavenger tribe was the predecessor of the ones living in Megakarta. They still have a good relationship between the two tribes. This tribe lived in the middle of the abandoned city of Urbaningrum with a population of around 100 scavengers, the 2nd largest tribe after the Megakarta Kingdom. They often sail into the Great Lake with their rafts to find food and pearls. This tribe is led by a chieftain which they called Kami-Kami.
The Old Mine Tribe (Miner Tribe). This scavenger tribe is home to the 'richest' scavenger tribe of them all. This is due to them living in the old mine that once also stored pearls amongst other minerals. They protect their pearls and minerals from creatures and other tribes by storing them inside old vaults that were once used by the ancients. This tribe's population is around 50 scavengers in total and is led by Kaya-Kaya.
The Swampland Tribe (Swamp Tribe). This scavenger tribe lived to adapt to the wetlands. Using the high level of water and the density of the trees to hide themselves from predators and help them in hunting. They often used rafts to travel the swamps and are agile swimmers. They're over 50 scavengers in total and is led by Sawa-Sawa.
The Garbage Disposal Region Pirates (Garbage Pirate). Unlike other tribes, this one is the most unfriendly of them all. They live in the G.D.R. (Garbage Disposal Region) with little to no resources except garbage and waste. So they had to steal and pirate other tribes to preserve themselves. This pirate group has over 75 scavengers in total and is led by Baja-Baja.
The Giant Forest Tribe (Forest Tribe). This tribe lives in the tall branches high above the ground. Creating a system of treehouses for their tribe and adapting to swinging from tree to tree. This tribe uses traps as their method of hunting and security measures. With over 50 scavengers in total and led by Poho-Poho, this tribe is the most tactical of them all.
The Agriculture Complex Tribe (Farmer Tribe). This tribe lives by farming, a skill they learned from watching the ancients long ago. Once the ancients were gone, they overtook parts of the complex and turn it into their village, away from the many carnivorous plants that often threatened their territory. This tribe lives with over 50 scavengers in population and is led by Tani-Tani.
The Upstream Tribe (Waterfall Tribe). This tribe lives in the dangerous hills and cliffs of the waterfalls in the Upstream. They learned how to traverse the extreme terrain and hunt fish in the streams near the waterfalls. This tribe has only over 30 scavengers in total and is led by Buki-Buki.
Mt. Everhigh Monks (Mountain Monks). This group of scavengers is quite special. There are only 15 of them in total but it seems like they are guarding something in the peak of the mountain. Now, with the mountain being beyond the retaining wall and how big the mountain is, not to mention these scavengers seemed to be way more powerful than any other scavengers. I haven't been able to research what it is that they are guarding. All of my overseers that I sent there have been destroyed by the monks. It seems like their leader is called Jaga-Jaga, and in the meantime, I will let them be.
The Green Sanctuary Tribe (Sanctuary Protectors). This tribe of scavengers was created by me and my creator, Mistress Stains, to act as the guardian of the Green Sanctuary Region. They were hardwired to protect the wildlife inside the region and preserve the sanctuary's pureness. Even though it was a long time ago, it seems like the 50 descendants of those scavengers still has those system installed in their instincts. They are led by the wise Huta-Huta.
The Plain Outskirts Tribe (Plain Tribe). This last tribe of scavengers lives in the plain biome on the outskirts of Urbaningrum City. They have over 100 scavengers scattered all over the plain with not much center of society between all of them. They are pretty nomadic themselves, unlike other scavenger tribes. As such they have no central leader but they do have a good sense of community between them all.
CW: My estimation of their entire population is not 100% accurate, but that is the estimation that I've scanned for over 100 cycles. I am curious to learn more about their social system and their relations with each other CW: ...I wonder if I could create an organism that would resemble them in a way that would let me look deeper into their society. ⚝ Changes regarding Episode 12 of Hirogaru Sky! Precure
As I said before, I really disliked Episode 12 of Hirogaru Sky Precure. Being an important episode regarding Kabaton and the Undergu Empire, for the sake of my roleplay of Sora/Cure Sky, I'll change a few things of this episode. These changes I'll consider my "canon" and use them during my roleplay.
First of all. This episode will be split in two episodes. The "training episode" and the "fight episode".
I'm strong!!! Cure Sky VS Kabaton - Part 1
Kabaton is alone, saving Undergu Energy and regarding what the ruler of Undergu Empire said about being his final chance. He trembles with fear and curses the Precure for his misfortune.
Later, Sora and the gang went to the shopping district to buy a few ingredients that Yoyo-san needs for some experiments she is doing. Mashiro says "Where do we find these kind of ingredients around here?"
Kabaton appears before them and challenges Sora for a final battle. Differently from the episode, Mashiro and Tsubasa say they'll fight alongside her, but Sora refuses. "This is something that started between me and Kabaton. We'll end this and you'll leave Princess Ellee alone if I win."
They later discuss if this is the best thing to do and Sora says they have no other options. "We must do anything to protect Ellee-chan, even if it is something dangerous!"
Sora goes with Mashiro, Ageha and Tsubasa to the mountains just like happened in the episode. (I think that's the only part I really enjoyed about the episode XD)
This episode had a lot of jokes regarding Sora's training that really bothered me. She went there to train her body, mind and spirit for her final battle against Kabaton and that's what she does. During three days, she trains hard while Mashiro, Tsubasa and Ageha supports her. I'll scrap the entire sequence of "Lord of the Mountain and Waterfall" jokes and I'll replace with Ageha planning different trainings to improve what Sora lacks. Tsubasa and Mashiro decides to take part of this training as well, saying it will be useful for future events. Mashiro trains her stamina, Sora her ability to decide things quickly and Tsubasa his agility while on the ground.
After the training reaches its final day, they celebrate with a barbeque. Sora eats hamburger for the first time and she LOVES IT. After eating, Mashiro and Tsubasa says that they supports Sora's decision, but this battle is not only hers. They also are fighting to protect Ellee-chan and she needs to rely more on them as well. Sora agrees and apologizes for being selfish in such a hard time. Sora decides that they'll fight as a team. The episode ends the next day. They are returning home and Sora is looking towards the sky, decided to win this battle. It also shows Kabaton with an angry face, saying he is ready.
The Final Showdown!!! Cure Sky VS Kabaton - Part 2
Before meeting Kabaton, Yoyo prepares a complete breakfast for Sora and the others. Sora meets Kabaton and announces that everyone will take part of this fight. Kabaton teases her, saying "You finally admit to be scared of facing me alone Gwahahahaha!! It doesn't matter, I'll defeat you anyway!"
Everyone transforms and Kabaton uses the Undergu Energy to power-up! He enters his "Bestial Form": A dark aura surrounds his entire body, big fangs appears from his mouth, he becomes more muscular, the hair on top of his head grows, claws appear from his fingers and the jewel on his forehead begins to glow. Dark clouds appear and turn the entire sky black. The Undergu Empire ruler is watching the battle.
They have an intense fight, Kabaton resists several attacks from the team and most of them has no impact at all. Ageha is watching from afar with Princess Ellee. They use everything they learned during their training, but they still have trouble to land strong blows. After Princess Ellee sends her power to them, the team is able to come with a strategy and defeat him for good.
"It's over Kabaton! As promised, leave Princess Ellee alone and retreat!"
4. Lightning begins to crackle above them and thunder to roar. Kabaton starts trembling and sweating a lot. He is frozen in fear, looking toward the dark clouds. Sky notices this and asks herself why he is acting this way. He seems... scared.
"The Undergu Empire... doesn't admit weak people. That's why I act tough all the time... to protect me from..."
"Kabaton! You disappoint me! It's your final chance to prove your value!"
5. A mysterious voice echoes through the entire battlefield. The jewel on his forehead glows red and Kabaton screams. He now turns into a giant Ranborg, losing control. His eyes are red and he is screaming and attacking everything around him, destroying the entire place. After a short battle, Sky and Prism purify him with Updraft Shining, reverting him back to his usual form.
"The weak has no value in the Undergu Empire! Begone!"
6. The ruler of the Undergu Empire brings Kabaton to the clouds and sends several strong thunderbolts to punish Kabaton for his failures. He closes his eyes, waiting for his demise. Sky summons the Sky Mirage and use it to block the attacks.
"Kabaton!! I'll save you!!!"
"Precure... Do you dare to defy me?"
She sends more bolts. Prism and Wing appears, blocking several of them as well. They position themselves around Kabaton, protecting him from her.
7. "This is not the last time we'll meet, Precure! Be prepared!"
The voice disappears and the dark clouds vanishes. When they finally land on the ground, Kabaton asks why Sky and the others protected him, despite being their enemy.
"It was the right thing to do. A Hero must protect everyone from danger!!"
Kabaton is moved by Sky's determination and finally realizes she is, indeed, a true Hero. Kabaton smiles and quickly disappears after Sky went to her friends' side. The jewel on his forehead cracks, freeing himself from the Undergu Empire's hands.
8. The episode ends with Sora and the others talking about the Undergu Empire and vowing to protect Princess Ellee-chan from them.

//I think this still needs some work, but I think it's a better conclusion for Sky x Kabaton arc. The final part of the episode was too rushed and the Undergu Empress didn't punish Kabaton for his failures, giving up too quickly after Sky protected him.
So, I'll consider this as the final battle of Sky and Kabaton. I hope all of you like it. Please, don't reblog this post. It's part of my portrayal of Cure Sky in the Precure RP Community.
