I've completed The Quarry 5 times, here's how many times I've killed each counselor from my fav to least fav (including non-permanent deaths)

1. Emma - 1

I was trying to get her infected and messed up at the wrong time, brought her back right after

2. Ryan - 3

Silas attack, car crash, and Bobby stabbing. None were intentional and he was brought back every time

3. Kaitlyn - 1

Failed to shoot Caleb in first playthrough, brought back after

4. Max - 0

His only possible death is really boring and I can't be bothered with it

5. Abi - 0

I've thought about killing her but always change my mind

6. Laura - 3

Two Silas attacks and one Travis stabbing. I let the last one happen, just to see how it would play out. Ended up rewinding after Ryan died

7. Dylan - 0

I just haven't. No particular reason

8. Nick - 0

One boring death just like Max

9. Jacob - 1

I tried to kill him a few times but was somehow only successful once

Grand Total - 9

Not even 10?? It would be a lot more if I could include the Hacketts but I've lost track of the numbers there. Also, putting this together made me realize that most of these deaths have been a result of killing or trying to kill Travis

Maybe this is just because of what a gentle soul I am underneath all the angst enjoyment, but I just cannot comprehend the vitriolic hate I see directed at some characters. Not even because of who those characters are, but just fundamentally. I don’t understand how someone could hate a fictional character so immensely that they would delight in insulting them, degrading them, and would gleefully inflict the most awful things on that character in the game if they could. (If anything, tumblr’s taught me that most of us inflict the Horrors on characters we love to bits). There is, I think, a distinct difference between hating a character, for whatever reason, and that extra step of wanting to eviscerate them for the sake of it. It’s the difference between saying ‘I think this character is the worst’ and ‘this character is the worst’. One is an opinion; the other is being presented, incorrectly, as a fact.

Sure, there are characters I hate, a few even passionately. But there are also people out there who adore those characters, and their opinions are just as valid as mine. Ultimately I just can’t comprehend why so much energy is directed towards ripping apart characters one hates instead of enjoying the characters one likes.

TLDR folks can hate who they want but I get Concerned when a friggin fictional character is the target of such intense brutality with no nuance whatsoever.

so as late as I am with watching la by night I still want to say something cause I spent the last few weeks binging it and it basically fucked up my sleep schedule (and more lol) anyway as sad as it was to see jasper distancing himself from the coterie, I think it was the healthiest and most reasonable option for him in the long run. nelli and Victor obviously care about him (I love that nelli learned to respect him - wayy more than Victor does - and I'm so happy she's his baron) and after one finishes watching the last episode it's easy to look back at older episodes in season 1 and 2 and see one big happy coterie and wish things were as they once were, but in truth jasper and the others were kinda never fully happy with one another? I might be biased because Victor was my least favorite character throughout most of the series, but I still think Victor, as excellent a ventrue as he is, was kind of..uh, abusive sometimes? to Nelli and jasper in particular. Fiona might have been in over her head and an asshole but she was right when she pointed out that limousine thing to nelli, and we had already seen nelli expressing her displeasure at Victor parading it around and making her use it by pretending that getting rid of it was a waste of a good armored limousine. it belonged to her abuser and he kept it as a reminder nonetheless. plus I really disliked some bits and pieces of his behavior toward jasper, which all came to the surface in the second to last episode in s04 when jasper got so mad and they wouldn't even make him speak a word - not to mention that Victor, even when he accommodates others, is always so.... condescending and I really don't know how jasper never tried to punch him in the face sometimes.

other than this I just wanted to say every single bit of that epilogue destroyed me and x's fate is so so so unfair and I hope he hangs around jasper after he solves his problem. the scenes in the ocean are always so hauntingly beautiful and sad, I still have a roaring headache cause of crying 🥳

lastly, I really don't want to talk about Eva - it's too sad and too shocking and seeing her descend into obsession and thinking there's no redemption for her hurt a lot and idk, I just hope she didn't hang around to see the dawn
