got may have made the adults feel better about liking fantasy, but lotr got into the kids' heads when they (we) were just young and impressionable enough to be absolutely transported and emotionally rewritten by don't you leave him, samwise gamgee and my brother, my captain, my king and and rohan will answer

lotr was rewriting entire generations' brain chemistry long before asoiaf and so obviously it's not fair to compare any post-lotr fantasy novel to it, and each book series was trying to do different things within their own spheres and so that also is not a fair comparison, but in terms of the cultural impact of the adaptations that came out within a decade of each other, saying that it was game of thrones that made fantasy mainstream is baffling

all these gifs make me think of are a scenario where you and Sam are together. he's your dom, and he was reluctant to let you separate from him on this case, but you insisted, and it really was more efficient to split up to talk to witnesses. so you do, and Sam calls to tell you what he's found out...and to tell you to get back to the motel, but you're not so keen on getting back yet. so you mouth off a little a lot. a big no-no in Sam's book.

he ducks away from the people he's with for the rest of the conversation:

"I'm not asking. I want you back at the motel, waiting for me by the time I get back, you hear me?"

"Mmm," you hum, pretending to consider his words as if they don't make every muscle in your body tense with anticipation.

"If you think I'm playing right now, you are sorely mistaken. Listen to me," he punctuates his words, "if you aren't waiting for me in position when I get back, I will punish you, and it won't be something you'll enjoy. You can bet on that."

You gulp and swallow, nodding, even though you know he can't see you. You say softly, all fight drained by his words, "Yes, sir."

How Daisy's facial expression changes throughout this whole sequence is fascinating - and quite heartbreaking.

Happy -> Lovestruck -> Confidently stating a fact -> Immediately embarrassed -> Hopeful -> Disappointed -> In pain -> In denial -> Sad

Literally from happy to sad. But there's a whole journey between the two emotions.

She hears Camilla come in, feels him pull away, but she does not look. It takes her a few seconds to do so. Painful to watch the heartbreak play on her face and in her eyes. None of it too obvious - she doesn't cry - you can see her controlling herself, and that makes it even more powerful. One of the most heartbreaking scenes for me.

the fundamental basis of a 'sams izzy' for me is that he has to be someone canon izzy looks at and thinks "... i could have had this?"

i dont think everything would have gone perfectly if izzy had gone with sam, but i do think maybe he would have been happier than our izzy is when we see him, and i want our izzy to see that and just... wonder. wonder if he made the right decisions. was he right to go with edward? is he happy with his life?

Psychonauts brainrot has been temporarily interrupted by Ninjago brainrot (blame it on that audio clip from the movie trending) which is why I haven’t been posting, but here’s some more Psychonauts hcs <3

Expanding on my Lizzie having forearm crutches, her and Morris decorate each other’s mobility aids.

Lizzie also makes little ice figurines for the others, even if they don’t last too long.

Sam really likes colouring books, just because they’re therapeutic. She has a whole collection of them and her friends always get her new ones as gifts.

Norma is a white-noise girl, Lizzie is an asmr girl. (I think I’ve said that second part before.)

Mirtala loves braiding Frazie’s hair.

One time Adam offered to babysit Mirtala and Queepie, saying it couldn’t be that hard. Lost both of them within 15 minutes. He never offered again.
