Beginner Witch's Guide: The Basics

Hello friends and all my beginner witches! Welcome to my Beginner Witch's Guide where I will be sharing my wisdom in regards to the craft! This series of posts will be a set of guides to all sorts of aspects in the witchy world from crystals to tarot to baneful magic.

Beginner Materials:

(Keep in mind that none of these are necessary materials to practice witchcraft! These are just some ideas for what you can start practicing with!)

Crystals

Not only are crystals insanely beautiful, but they are also super useful for your practice. Some great beginner crystals include rose quartz, amethyst, citrine, and obsidian! Crystals can be somewhat expensive, but these tend to be ones you can find for fairly cheap!

Herbs

So many herbs can be used for the practice, and the best thing is that so many herbs can be easily purchased for relatively little from the local grocery store. Yes! The herbs in those little jars on the shelf can be used in magic no problem!

Salt

Salt has been used in many different cultures in many different forms of witchcraft as protection from negative energies and curses. Salt is a priceless thing in the witchy world!

Candles

Candles aren't necessary (technically nothing on this list is) but many spells will call for candles of various colors but the good thing is, candles can be found for super cheap in places like dollar stores or thift stores! And colors don't matter as much as people might tell you. White candles can used in place of others for pretty much any spell that calls for colored candles.

Tarot Deck (or deck of cards)

Tarot is a great way to start getting into divination and so getting a tarot deck can start you on that path of learning. They can be somewhat expensive, so a normal deck of cards can also be used! There are so many guides online of how to use a normal deck of cards for tarot readings and there are also great guides on how to start getting into tarot.

An Appreciation Post

With the end of the LOZ AU Gift Exchange, it's time to share how much of a gremlin we've been- I mean to share the doodles we made for the event hosts and show them some appreciation again💜

Shoutout to our inability to just, participate like normal people and settling for thanking the hosts XD

They all did amazing and the event was great! Absolutely participating again if it does end up repeating next year, but everyone will have to pretend to be surprised when we show up with several gifts too many for people we weren't supposed to make anything for lmao

Welcome pile one. The way I read cards makes it so people energy's might intertwined. So, I could be talking about you while wording it as if it's about your partner or vice versa.

So, let's get started. First, the current view you have of your partner is really grounded and put together. They put on this persona to make you feel safe and secure when you are with them. They don't feel like a romantic partner though, not yet anyway. They are probably a friend with benefits or someone you exclusively see for sexual reasons. I think when y'all started exploring together they took charge of leading the experience. They are definitely a dom/top. They taught you a lot about what you enjoy in sex. They showed you kinks you had no idea existed until you heard it from them. They give off leader energy big time. When they look at you sometimes their gaze makes you feel like prey. Maybe express to your current partner that sometimes you feel scared when you don't need to be because of the trauma. I see them listening intently while you speak. I see them consoling you. love her so much I think she is the coolest medieval person ever and I love her writing and her music and I made a standee of that manuscript illustration of her getting visions and a painting of her cosmic egg for my medieval manuscript section of my animal crossing island (above). also have a painting I did of her cosmic egg on my wall. also one time when I was doing my MA I was driving home from my tutoring job blasting the hildegard song linked below with my windows down and made prolonged direct eye contact with my advisor at a stop sign as she was driving by (also windows down, heard me blasting hildegard)

Some time ago, I was looking for a set of dice to dedicate to Hekate for divination.

I absolutely love divination with dice, for their versatility and speed in delivering a clear answer. They work very well alongside other forms of divination by bringing out the core message of the reading.

Anyway, I came across a set of yooperlite dice and got really excited, because they glow like lava under UV light. Hekate has intimate ties with infernal forces so this seemed to match her aesthetic perfectly. I restrained myself though because I wanted to be sure Hekate approved of them too.

After my initial excitement faded, I reached out to the goddess and received a set of visions. She wanted plain dice, not this fancy stuff. They were to be made of either bone, or pure obsidian with gold lettering, and nothing else. I was almost disappointed, because the yooperlite dice look like glowing lava rocks. But she preferred otherwise (at least in my case) and I got the impression that she thought a tool should be practical and not distract me with pretty patterns and textures.

What I do really appreciate though, is that her instructions were clear and precise. I think it's a great sign for a deity to tell you their requirements in detail, and for those requirements to be different to what you thought was right.

If you get "no, I want this thing, from this place, of this material" then I think you can take it as an achievement in your practice. Because you asked, and the deity answered, and that kind of reciprocation is what relationships are built on.
