New Project! DIY/Collaged Tarot Deck

Over the past few weeks, I have been pulling together a group of local witches in my area to form a very casual coven! We all ended up revealing that we are very crafty, so naturally, one of the first projects we wanted to take on as a group was to make our own tarot decks! Right now we are scheduled to make around 8 cards a month, which means we should be finishing the project by the end of the year!

Materials used:

Double-sided tape

Playing card (for the base)

Matte mod podge (for the top coat)

Magazine clippings

To start off with, obviously, we have The Fool. In researching for this card, the main keywords that stood out to me was "new beginnings" and the start of a "journey". When paging through my magazines, one of the first photographs I came across was this beautiful, snowy mountain range with skiers dotting along the bottom of a slope. This image seemed perfect to me and really conveys the image of a new journey and optimism. 

Next, I reviewed the Rider-Waite deck for more inspiration - I saw lots of yellows, and of course, the iconic sun. I decided to add a sun shining in the corner of this card as an ode to the original Rider-Waite deck; also representing bright optimism as the Fool begins his journey.

Heya :) it's been a while!

Hi, my name is Dolly (she/her) and I've had this blog for quite some time! In the past I've done things like open up free readings, or create discord servers as a way to feel a sense of community, but this time around I think I'm okay with just being here instead of seeking attention and validation. The direction this blog is going to be going is ideally going to be personal, intimate, focused on my own growth as a person, and focused on my growth in my practice. I plan on being vulnerable and fairly open but not to the point where it's a burden on followers. I just want this to become a safe space for myself and others to share if they have been feeling like they're lacking in personal growth/their practice. You're not alone! Cartoons! Kids cartoons, adult cartoons, anime. I just like it better when it doesn't have real people in it. I love Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, recently been into Bob's Burgers, I'm just a big cartoon fan!

Cats! I have 2 boy kitties, a little black one and a big ol' orange dude. They're my favorite, and I love pretty much all cats in general.

Piercings and tattoos! I work in a tattoo shop, currently working on my piercing apprenticeship!

Mixology! Again, lol! I find the art of making and creating cocktails to be very witchy, but also just super fun in non-witchy ways.

Fashion! I love clothes and shoes, and I can never stick to one aesthetic

Pool! Like, as in billiards! Super random but it's fun and I've gotten a lot better over the past couple years!

Pretty much any hobby ever! Soap making, candle making, baking, embroidery, hand sewing, cosmetic making, jewelry making, singing, makeup, playing instruments, I just love to do it all.

Okay that's enough about me, like I said I'm bad at keeping it brief but there ya go! Can't wait to get back into the community. <3

I bought a spice rack at Container Store today and converted it into a display shelf for my card decks, both playing cards and fortunetelling.

Worked pretty well! Not perfectly, but for $30 it came out fine. The shelves don’t have solid bottoms, so I lined them with stiff card covered in fabric, which worked a treat. The lower shelves aren’t truly big enough to hold standard sized Tarot decks in boxes (which is why the three that are on top are on top) but they held the Found Fortune and my Ibis Tarot, if just barely. Very pleased with myself. :D
