I thought after he punched Rock, that was going to be "IT"!!!! After watching this film today, it's safe to say Will Smith is not ordinary(that's if we mistakenly thought so anyway). I have never watched a man comfortably slide into a character like Will did in this movie. His character "Peter" is a slave. Will unleashed dramatization that may have only existed in Victorian times. 少しはインタビューも板についてきた？かな。第３弾公開です。コンピレーション企画ボスより指令を頂きました３人目のDJMOTIVEさんにインタビューさせて頂きました。インタビュアーYOTTUが大変影響を受けた大好きなアーティスト。岐阜の宝といっても過言ではないDJ/トラックメーカー DJ MOTIVEの楽曲制作への想い、音楽愛とユーモアたっぷりの60分をお楽しみください。

 YOTTU：今回の提供いただいた「Sleeping Metro」についてどういった流れで制作されたのか教えてください。タイトルも本当に素敵で由来は？どんな意味なの？！とずっと気になっていました！（一人テンションの高いインタビュアー）

MOTIVE：YOTTUのインスタの投稿でこの企画のことを知りぜひ力になりたい！と思い急いで楽曲制作をしました。地上と地下部分の京阪電車と共にある、こういった場所にクラブがあるって本当に珍しくてかっこいいと思うんです。岐阜には地下鉄がないのでますます異空間だなって新鮮な気持ちになりますね。電車って24時とかなったら止まりますよね。そして朝になったらまた動き出す。そんな電車とかけて、今はメトロも一旦営業ができない状態ですが、少しお休み（寝ている）しているけど、また起きて（営業再開して）動き出す意味を「Sleeping Metro」と名付けました。

今回の曲は僕の大好きなLonnie Liston Smithというジャズのアーティストの「Sunset」という曲のフレーズをピアノで弾いておりSunsetがあればSunriseがあるというイメージも込めています。太陽にとってのSunset＝sleeping ですね。そのフレーズもピアノでいれてみました。素晴らしいアーティストなのでぜひ聴いてみてほしいです。

YOTTU：えええええええええ！めちゃくちゃメトロの今の状況を、穏やかな意味合いに変化させてくださって創ってくださったのですね…えええ….すごい…（もうすごいしか言えずわなわなしている）イントロの電車の音とかはきっとメトロのことイメージしてくださってるんだなって思いましたがまさかこんな意味とは…。

MOTIVE：今だからこそ、この状況だからこそできた楽曲という雰囲気もありますね。たとえばこういうコロナとかではなくて、メトロ30周年の記念コンピレーションとかだったら全然違うものが出来ているだろうし。だからこのコロナが終息してまた同じようにハッピーにPARTYできるようになったら、こんな辛気臭い曲きけるか～！！！ってこの曲はもう葬り去ってくれたらいいです笑。

思想弾圧とかがあった頃の芸術はいいものが多いように、こういう時にしかできない良い音楽っていうのもあると音楽が思います。今回の企画は本当に素晴らしいコンピレーションだと思います。なかなかこんなに集まらないよ。メトロの良さを物語っていて、大事な場所はちゃんと残っていくんだな、と感じています。

YOTTU：に、しても本当にたくさんのメッセージが込められていて改めて胸が熱いです…。MOTIVEさんの他の楽曲でも「実はこういう意味合いが」や「元ネタは実はこれ」な「聴く人が聴いたらわかる」なことがありますが、常にそういうことを意識して楽曲を作られているのですか？

MOTIVE：そもそも曲に暗号を隠すのが好きっていうのもありますね。暗号に気づいてくれた人は一生友達ですね笑。バンドマンのように僕はそんなに演奏ができるわけではないので知識や遊びで勝負するっていうのがDJやトラックメーカーの醍醐味かなと思っています。

YOTTU：MOTIVEさんの曲は本当に物語を感じるというか、映画や小説のように読み進めていくような空気がありますもんね。なんだか色々納得していってる自分がいます…。それではメトロの思い出などお聞きできますか？

MOTIVE：七夕のGiftに呼んでもらった時は前日？が大雨で川が氾濫して印象的です。すごかったよね？それとだいぶ前にDJで呼んで頂いた時に、このコンピレーションにも入っているSOFTさんもその時メトロで一緒でした。僕本当にSOFTさんが大好きで、僕がDJでその後SOFTさんだった流れの中で、ジョージハリスンの曲をライブ前にかけた時に、あの曲めっちゃ良いですよねって声をわざわざかけてくださって本当に嬉しかったのをとても覚えています。だから同じコンピレーションに入れて嬉しい！！本当に光栄です。京都はひょうひょうとしながらかっこいい人が多いな、って行く度に思いますね。気さくで肩に力がはいってない感じが岐阜とも似てると感じます。参考にさせてもらっているお店や場所が京都に沢山ありますね。

YOTTU：MOTIVEさんが経営されてるalffo（アルフォ）についてもお聞きしてもいいですか？カフェ＆バーとして、PARTYの場所として、レコード屋として本当に素敵な場所だと思いますがお店オープンされてからどれくらい経ちますか？

MOTIVE：今年で8年目になりますね。やっぱりとにかく楽しいなって思うことが本当に多いですね。岐阜には京都みたいにいろんなお店がないので、ダンサーやスケーターなど、いろんな世代やカルチャーが好きな人が集まってくれて嬉しいですね。

YOTTU：わたしもalffo大好きです！１日中お店でDJしたいです（熱望）MOTIVEさんがDJでかけてらっしゃる音楽は、昔の名曲から本当に最近リリースされた音楽までかなり幅広い音楽をいつもチェックされている！といった印象が初めて会った時とか今まで常にあるのですが、普段からどうやって音楽を探してらっしゃるのですか？？かなり個人的にもずっと謎でした。

MOTIVE：いい音楽に出会える時は、ひたすらネットサーフィンをしていろんなところから聞く形か、今おもしろいのがGOOD SHIT BOYSっていう集団をやっていて、そこで音楽を教え合ったりしていますね。

 YOTTU：GOOD SHIT BOYS!!　MIXCDシリーズで最近出されていますね！BOYS？２，３人でやっているのですか？？

MOTIVE:いや10人くらいいるのだけど（YOTTU：えええええええ！）

僕にこの曲いいですよ、って教えてくれたら自動的に参加させられる地獄のようなグループです笑。教えてもらった曲を購入して＆僕の持っている曲を合わせて一発録りで録音をする、っていうのをやっています。どの世界の人が聴いても気持ちい、美しいと思うのを集めるのがGOOD　SHIT BOYSなんです。MIXは録りためてるのが50個くらいあってね。僕が録っている間はBOYSたちががずっと踊ってて笑。３時間踊りっぱなしとかも多々なんだよね。今はそれができない日常なのでそれは寂しいなぁ。

YOTTU：なるほど～。わたしは今猛烈にGOOD SHIT BOYSがうらやましいです…!いいなぁいいなぁ…。MOTIVEさんが最近のお薦めの曲ってありますか？

MOTIVE：そのGOOD SHIT BOYSのメンバーはるかくんが教えてくれたRoger Joseph Manning Jr.というアーティストの「Wish It Would Rain」という曲は、久しぶりに腰からくだけるほどいいなってなりました。僕は元々Jellyfishっていうバンドが好きで、でもJellyfishは2枚のアルバムを出して解散してしまっています。でもその後もメンバーがそれぞれ音楽をやっていて。そのバンドのキーボードのソロ名義がRoger Joseph Manning Jr.です。本当に素晴らしい曲で、なんで有名じゃないのか！？って、はがゆい想いもあります笑。僕たちは「ピアノチャンチャン系」って呼んでいてBenny thingsとかも同じように好きですね。

YOTTU：わかります～！！！ほんとなんでこんないい曲なのに有名じゃないの？みんな知らないの？という気持ちになりますよね（鼻息荒め）

MOTIVE：ね。ただ制作側からすると「わかる人にわかってもらえたら」っていうジレンマもあるけれど笑。この曲はdeadbundy（MOTIVE自身のバンド）でもカバーをしていてアナログもリリースしたいと考えています。

YOTTU：なるほど。MOTIVEさんの音楽に対する想いの深さや愛情が沢山聴けて改めてこの「Sleeping Metro」をじっくり味わって��たいと思います（話が尽きないので強制的に終わりを迎えます）

MOTIVE：ほんとこのコロナの騒動は歴史に残る、教科書レベルのことだよね。今のこういう時代を過ごすというのは辛い時期ではあるけれどすごい経験かなとも思います。もうやるしかないもんね。今フィットする音楽を探したり、次のことを考えながら行動する時かと思います。音楽が一番救ってくれると改めて感じる毎日です。

とても個人的な話ですが、わたしは本当にMOTIVEさんのDJでの選曲も、制作される楽曲も大好きで、今回のメトロコンピレーションも「コンピにご参加をお願いしたい！」とすぐに連絡したかった、のですが、MOTIVEさんご自身のalffoことや色々お忙しいかな…と思い声をかけれず、もじもじしていたところ「音源を送りたいのですが間に合いますか？」とご本人からの一報が。音楽の神が手を差し伸べてくれた！とはこのことです。本当に嬉しかったです…。

音楽観やDJ、選曲をする、ということはMOTIVEさんからかなり影響を受け、MOTIVEさんの音楽へのジャンルや時代を飛び越えた感覚は、メトロが音楽や芸術を愛しすべての音楽や人種を受け入れ、支え、応援しているところに通じるものがあると今回お話しして感じました。音楽やパーティーによって人が交わっていき、踊る、という体感的なもの以上に心に響き、潤いが生まれる、そんな音楽の素晴らしさをMOTIVEさんから沢山教えて頂き、今回のお話しでより深まりました。このインタビュー記事をまとめる時はMOTIVEさんのmixcloudを聴かせて頂き、良い曲に何度も手が止まり全然記事が進みませんでした笑。

Becoming a Dj can be hard - the competition is huge and often ruthless. You have to take risks to stick out from the mass - sometimes this will go wrong.
