the thing about the mummy movies is that you really spend most of the time thinking "wow brendan fraser's character is so cool" or "man oded fehr is so mysterious and heroic" when the fact of the matter is that these two

are the absolute most batshit insane heroes in the entire franchise

these two are intellectual loner siblings with archeology backgrounds who read and speak ancient egyptian, hire a dude directly out of prison to take them to a lost city of gold, and fight mummies literally with their bare hands. twice.

no one in these movies stands a chance against the carnahans. frankly they're lethal in how willing they are to make the absolute and most undeniably deranged decisions. jonathan pickpockets a dude on fire. evy's resurrected from the dead and immediately remembers how to use sai. they're racking shotguns from a cliff in this scene and then proceed to blow away half the antagonists.

“I just wanted you to know that I– that I didn’t change my mind,” John gets out, tracing his finger along a line on the kitchen table, stubbornly staring at the wooden surface, hastily adding, “y’know, if you didn’t either.” “That right?” John looks up at the question, watching as Gale turns to lean against the counter, bracing his hands on the edge of it, and John has to work to keep his eyes trained on Gale’s face. He nods meekly, tucking his sock–clad feet behind the legs of his chair to stop his own legs from bouncing. Gale smiles a bit and leans back, tilting his head. “You askin’ for something?” John’s face goes hot, and he feels like he’s been seen right through. His lips part, but he can’t get the words out; he can only blink up at Gale as he walks over to the table and leans on it in a near mirror image of the first time they’d spoken in the pub. “Hm?” Gale presses, and John nods again, eyes dancing around Gale’s face, heart mimicking the motions against his ribs. “You don’t have to ask, baby,” Gale tells him softly as he places a hand under John’s chin, tilting it up a little.

Kon’s mouth is suddenly very dry. It would be worse, he knows, to turn tail and fly away before even setting foot—or hovering, more accurately—in the actual event. And he’s dealt with more than his share of nosy, probing questions before; he should’ve expected this, honestly. But it’s like every reporter and paparazzi photographer and hanger-on outside the hotel has latched on to the question, their attention snapping to Kon.

And Kon, for once, doesn’t know what to say.

I never really understood how y’all can write so many words for just one chapter until I wrote one out of four sections for a chapter and it’s almost 4000 words.

Tbh I still don’t understand how you can do 25k tho it’s insane. /pos

this is the realest thing i have ever heard ‼️‼️‼️ honestly we don’t really know how we do it either, but it’s definitely not intentional 90% of the time! we just have a lot we want to accomplish in every chapter so it does take a while to hit all those points for sure, and thea and i are both people that will sacrifice a slightly more digestible word count in order to add in that conversation or dialogue exchange or few extra paragraphs of narration if we think it serves the story. likeeeeee i swore up and down that 10.1 was going to be under 30k or else thea had free reign to kill me and take out whatever she wanted from it and then it hit like 32k and neither of us could find a section that was long enough to be worth taking out without being a detriment to the quality/pacing/story LOL (other than like 100 words here and there but unless we had like 15 of those sections it wouldn’t make a dent in the wc worth it enough to take all those details out.) we are also balancing a six person main cast so sometimes adding in that extra conversation between two characters who haven’t gotten much time together is also super worth it for us, even if it adds another couple thousand words. basically we just have a lot to say!! unfortunately it does usually take us 1.5-3 business months to say it but we are so glad you guys have been eating it up 🫡
