Heyy, I want to ask if you have any tips on the ”DOF” setting in reshade. I find myself struggling to edit the setting and want to find a good balance, right now it makes everything blurry and it’s a total mess! I love how in your photos it’s perfect and not crazy like i have it now. Not sure when you are gonna see this but Happy new year! <3
Hello nonny, I always go for a subtle bokeh versus the super blown out look. Ideally, I'm trying to emulate the focal lengths of an actual camera. I also use 4 different DOF shaders that can be layered on top of one another depending on the scene. Two of them are mouse driven auto focus, and the other two are static blur for items in the distance.
In general you want to focus on adjusting the following areas to control which parts of your image are subject to blur:
Near Blur Curve (amount of blur in foreground, i.e. objects closer to the camera)
Far Blur Curve (amount of blur in the distance, i.e. everything far away from the camera)
Generally, 0 = no blur, and 1 = blur. DOF shaders are quite sensitive. I do not like any blur in the foreground therefore, I usually have this set to 0 for my non mouse driven DOF shaders.
Then for the actual blur strength effect, I leave this very low too, usually around 5-10 at maximum.
Hope that helps!

Hey! I'm the anon that asked the question about the odd gap between the blur of my Sim + the background. I wanted to come back to let you know that it was due to the edge smoothing being turned on! In case anybody may be having the same issue, then it could be that for them as well. Thank you to you and those that replied to the ask. <3
Hi anon! Thank you so much for confirming. It's really useful to have a proper cause. I'm glad it's fixed for you now!

Hi, I'm Wench! ♡ This is a personal and multi-fandom blog that predominantly features original and reblogged posts about Cyberpunk 2077, The X-Files, and whatever cursed shit makes me laugh. For the full scope of what I post and who I am, check out my tags and about pages.
Virtual photography in Cyberpunk is my main creative hobby, but I am very much a jane-of-all-trades, master-of-none. Here are some tags where you can find a lot of my stuff:

🔞 NSFW & Adult Content Warning This is not a minor-friendly space, and I strongly discourage anyone under 18 from following me.
I tag all visual content with the "nsft" tag; explicit text is not tagged. (I try to use the Community Labels feature when appropriate, but it's often very glitchy for me, so I would advise filtering that tag if you really want to avoid boobas.)
⛔ On Blocking & Filtering I typically only block bots, trolls, and, if I notice, anyone who has blocked me. However, I extensively use content and tag filters in conjunction with XKit to hide filtered posts entirely. This occasionally means "false positives" will be caught in the filter, and I might miss posts and notifications as a result.
💌 On Following Back I honestly don't follow new blogs often, and I won't follow blogs at all if they don't meet these two criteria at minimum:
The blogger must be over 18 years old, although I typically prefer following folks who are at least in their late 20s.
A basic and consistently used tagging system must be in place (e.g., at least tagging the title for a piece of media or the name of a character).
💔 On Unfollowing I will sometimes unfollow blogs (including mutuals) under certain conditions, namely:
If they've been inactive for over 6 months
If our interests have dramatically shifted
If their posts make me uncomfortable for any reason (drama-mongering or guilt-tripping are the most common reasons)
Also, I encourage anyone who no longer enjoys my blog to do the same! Keep your dash a fun and happy place for yourself.
💬 On Asks and DMs My ask box is open with a few stipulations:
Anonymous messages are prohibited. Similarly, messages I suspect are being sent from a sock puppet account will not be published.
I default to replying publicly, but if you include a "PM" in your message, I'm more than happy to reply privately.
I don't participate in or publicly post any sort of "chain mail" messages (e.g. "send this message to 10 blogs you love")--I very much appreciate the thought behind them, but they tend to overwhelm me.
📃 Miscellaneous A few other personal policies of note:
I'm a big advocate for reblogging your own posts! I frequently do it myself. Self-reblogs are usually about 6-8 hours apart, but if you find they're clogging your dash, you can blacklist the "srb" tag.
I queue a lot of my original posts and reblogs, and my queue can be as long as a month out.
I typically only use likes to acknowledge personal posts, and I wipe them completely a couple of times a year.
✧˖°. FAQ
❓ What tools do you use for your Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots? For poses and expressions for both V and NPCs, I use these mods:
Appearance Menu Mod (AMM)
Photo Mode Unlocker (PMU)
Nibbles to NPCs 2.0
For spawning decor, SFX, and lights, I use:
Appearance Menu Mod (AMM)
CharLi Character Lighting Suite
And for enhanced photomode tools, I use:
ReShade The two shaders I mostly use are Cinematic DOF (which creates a nicer blur than the vanilla DOF) and RealLongExposure (which reduces hair pixelization).
Otis Injectible Camera I predominantly use this for hot-sampling and hiding the game menus for making GIFs, but it is also a more powerful flycam and includes another lighting tool (CyberLit). This is a paid mod.
All color-editing, levels-adjusting, clip-fixing, etc. is done in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
❓ What other Cyberpunk 2077 mods do you recommend? I have a list that I update every few months that links all the publicly available mods I use in my game and a general mod tag for any mods that look interesting/useful. I’ve also dabbled in making mods (mostly pose packs that are kind of obsolete at this point and alternate clothes for Goro) that are available for free at my Ko-fi shop.
❓ Is your V's preset or NPV publicly available? Nope! I rarely share Valerie, and when I do, it's only with close friends who I know will take good care of her.
❓ Do you take commissions? I currently don’t take commissions of any kind, although I am sometimes open to art trades with mutuals (art for art, VP for VP, or VP for art). I can’t guarantee my schedule will always permit it, but if you’re interested, feel free to DM me!
❓ Would you be interested in taking shots for my mod? There's a good chance I would be, yes! Generally, the only times I'd say no are if 1) I don't have enough time to take and edit shots (usually a week's notice is enough) or 2) it's a fashion/cosmetic mod I just don't think is Valerie's style. Otherwise, I'm probably game--Send me a message with the deets!

heya! I'm sorry if it's been asked before, I tried looking in your FAQ but the link for your TS2 editing info on your seems to be down ^^'
I was wondering if the reshade you use for TS2 is public, or if you're even using reshade at all?
helloooo sorry about the inconvenience! i guess i didn't update the link in my faq when i changed my url. it's all fixed now, but here's a direct link to the info - it's still generally up to date, but my psd has been tweaked time and time again so it probably doesn't resemble the psd i linked as much anymore.
i do use reshade in ts2! i also updated my faq with that info. my preset is based off long distance winner by dreadpirate but with tons of edits and tweaks. it mostly neutralizes blue tones and adds a DOF with some bloom for screenshots. nothing crazy!

MoonPile's ReShade
Tumblr media
I frequently get questions about my ReShade, answered here. Uber Fidelity Suite's author AniHVX has kindly given permission to share my version!
For now I don't have a good place to upload the .ini file so I'm just sharing the code below.
What it does:
Gentle color-correction and grading for a more vivid look, without departing strongly from the game's style or disrupting UI.
Better visibility via sharpening and level adjustments.
Optional DOF for screenshots via keybind.
Examples: #beauty shots, #screenarchery
HOW TO USE:
Install ReShade per their instructions. (I use ReShade v. 4.2.1, should work with newer versions but might require some troubleshooting.)
Install Uber Fidelity Suite per their instructions.
The code & screenshots below show which .fx you need to install; most of them are default. (E.g. AdaptiveSharpen.fx, AmbientLight.fx, etc.)
Copy the entire code below to any plain text doc (Notepad on Windows is good). Save it with extension .ini (e.g. Moon_2025.ini) in your ESO /client folder alongside the other ReShade files.
In-game, summon the ReShade menu and load Moon_2025.ini. Set your preferred keybinds, etc.
IMPORTANT:
Use "Windowed (Fullscreen)" in ESO. If you try to use ReShade in Full Screen and alt-tab out, the game will crash.
DOF: I use it only for screenshots and have it set to a keybind (explained here). You may need to fiddle with the settings of MartyMcFlyDOF for any given shot; sometimes it breaks. Typically DOF_MANUALFOCUSDEPTH is the only thing that needs changing.
ESO gamma should be left-of-center for proper contrast: not too dark, crushed, nor washed out. Example.
Screenshots:
Left: ReShade | Right: Default (*Note that Tumblr's compression will affect comparison) (more examples: #beauty shots, #screenarchery, FAQ post)

hi! hope youre having a good day <3 is your most recent reshade the one you mention in your faq or is it a different one? it looks amazing
Thanks, I hope you’re doing well too!
You mean starburst, right? I used it till the end of generation 2 of my lepacy, then I switched to something I called ‘personal preset’ on my f.a.q page which is actually a very simple preset I made myself, just adding some dof, mxao, clarity, bloom and I think sunset filter? I keep tweaking it a little still but I’m glad you like it <3

quick troubleshooting for reshade dof and sims 3
DOF effects won’t work with anti-aliasing on. So under Options make sure to have Edge Smoothing is Off. You can add your own anti-alising with reshade (SMAA is my fave but there are more options)
Tumblr media
The depth buffer is reversed. Under “Edit Global Preprocessor Definitions” make sure RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED is set to 0 and not 1.
(the MXAO settings you see below can be taken from Picture Amoebae and I strongly recommend that you do so)
Tumblr media
So this might be a Sims 3 1.69 thing since I suspect its part of its DRM to always be online when you are playing. Reshade has a built in feature to disable the depth buffer (so no dof effects) if you are online so you don’t possible get banned or cheat in online games.
If you DOF effects stop working or never work, clicked on D3D9 tab in reshade and see if you see the following message “High network activity discovered. Access to depth buffers is disabled to exploitation”.
Tumblr media
This can’t be changed in Reshade. You are going to need to find a new version thats been modded. So you can set up a dev environment and tinker with Reshades code to turn off that feature or you can do what I did and just google a copy of reshade that is modded already or skim through github and find a version.
i use this one i found from this reddit thread

Sorry if you’ve answered but how do you get all your screenshots so pastel white clean & pretty? Is it using the same color within the clothing coordinations that help? Can you give us Gshade, Reshade tips? Do you use photoshop actions? Lighting mods? Thnxs
Hello! So for gshade I added a sharpening shader to my current preset, (the preset is linked on my faq) and I use the quint dof shader which adds the blurriness when I’m taking screenshots. Most of my interiors and sim‘s clothes are very light colors. I don’t edit any of my pictures! 🤍 I do use the lighting mod ‚milk thistle v2‘ by softerhaze but that doesn’t make a difference unless I’m taking pictures outside!

hey! wasn't sure whether or not this was classed as wcif but I was wondering if you were still using lavender & yoghurt for your reshade? think i saw on your twitter you were trying a new one and your recent posts have looked so good!
hi anon!! First thank you- I'm so glad you're liking them bc I've been really back & forth on my editing so it's nice to have some validation lmao
I talked a little bit about my new reshade preset here (and I'm now realizing I still have yet to add a link to faq tag itself, so it would have been very easy to miss)
some of the pieces do come from lavender & yogurt, mostly the brightening and I think mxao and dof?? and then I'm using a couple of those LUTs mentioned in that last ask, but I don't have them set at 100%.
the preset is a hot mess and I don't see myself ever releasing it bc it isn't mine at all, it's a Frankenstein mash up of things I liked lol
I'm also using a slightly edited version of this PSD which is different than the one I was using before as well.

Hello! i'm new to reshade and i'm having problems with DOF, i can't focus on objects, my hole screen looks blurry. i followed all what people asked you about DOF (your answers) and nothing seem to work for me, Please Help me. i have done everything and the same problem persist
Hey. Usually the issue here is the depth buffer isn't set up correctly. The main things to check are:
turn off Edge Smoothing in the game's graphics options
open Global Preprocessor Definitions in the ReShade menu and change reshade_depth_input_is_reversed from a 1 to a 0
ensure you're using the ReShade version that has full addon support
If you've done both of those things, please check if other depth effects are working as intended. These include things like MXAO and Adaptive Fog, and other DoF shaders.
If they are working correctly, then it is likely a problem with the specific DoF shader you're using. In that case, check with the creator of it to see if there's an updated version you can download. Otherwise, perhaps try using a different DoF shader if you find one that works.
If they aren't working correctly, that suggests it's a problem with the depth buffer itself, that you don't have it set up correctly.

Hi, I was wondering how does your game look so good? Like do you use reshade or...? Thanks!
hello!
i used to use reshade but i only used it for DOF, but now i am 100% reshade/sweetFX free! i have my editing process at the top of my faq(here) and i edit all of my pictures, in-game and cas, the same way!

Hi buttercup! I was wondering if you could share a pic of your DOF settings for reshade? I have been trying to get an intense bokeh DOF, but I am struggling to get the settings right. I checked your FAQ and didn't see anything about your specific reshade settings, so I apologize if someone has asked this before!
i’ve posted them before!! i should link to them in my faq tho. honestly you probably don’t even need to copy these, just adjust the blur radius to your liking

Hi! I recently downloaded Reshade 6.0.1 for The sims 4 and I’m noticing my DOF effects are working when they’re toggled on? I’m fairly new to reshade and was previously using Gshade. Any help would be appreciated!
Do you mean they aren't working?
Check the global preprocessor definitions, you likely need to change reshade_depth_input_is_reversed from 1 to 0

!!! I managed to fix my mxao and dof shader issues! it's all thanks to @pictureamoebae and their awesome reshade faq/help posts, tbh.
ive switched the computer i use to play ts4 on (transferring my mods folder was fun lmao) and now I cant for the life of me get reshade to work properly. well, really just the mxao and dof shaders - color/contrast/sharpening adjustments seem to work fine. ive tried troubleshooting it, but i really feel out of my depth. 🤦🏻‍♀️
