tbf i think that lonnie's family is the most fleshed out after ben's, the core4's and audrey's. but anyway

lonnie mentions that she used to bake cookies with her mum. i think she also would've grown up making dumplings with her

i don't think that lonnie would have been raised as extravagantly as many of her peers - remembering that her parents are decorated war heroes, so while they would have lived a comfortable lifestyle, it wouldn't be ANYWHERE near the level of the princes and princesses surrounding her. i think that's why she's a lot more down to earth and... normal

i know for a fact that she probably grew up with a small crusty white yappy little dog. probably a shih tzu. and probably named something terrible like coco (can't lie i had the exact same dog)

when her and her brother were children and their parents took them to see the lion dance shang woulda let his son sit on his shoulders and then when he got too old for that, lonnie

also. i think lil shang and lonnie used to reenact all the epic climax battles between the heroes and villains. i think they also would've thought over whose turn it was to be the bad guy this time

i think. one time when lonnie was a child. she would've gotten super annoyed at her brother and thrown a tantrum and pushed him in a lake. i have no proof and i don't know what the cause is, but i am certain that it happened. they came back into the house and lil shang was dripping wet onto the carpet. neither of them spoke when mulan interrogated them

li shang is THE girl dad of all time. you know that luxurious luscious hair he got?? yeah he let her braid it and put it in pigtails all the time and paint his nails and do his makeup

mulan is also a certified mint chocolate ice cream lover. NO one else in the family likes it. she has her own special tub she keeps in the freezer. her kids rib her for her choice every time they see it

i also think the house is divided on moon cakes. li shang would be SUPER particular about it at the store like like "good morning, where can i find your moon cakes with double salted duck egg yolks and lotus seed paste filling with the flaky crust". mulan probably has the simpler (but delicious) style she grew up with, likely a regional style that she would have to handmake. lonnie is all for the super specific one her dad likes, her brother likes the traditional homemade one

li family snowball fights get INTENSE. it's not a snowball fight, it's snowball warfare. mulan won the ultimate snowball fight with an avalanche and she will remind everyone of this every single winter, "so don't you dare throw a snowball at the back of my head when i'm not looking"

lonnie and her brother used to do competitive tree climbing as children. whoever reaches the top wins

I still continue to see posts about people worrying about the fandom growing so I did a quick google to see why it's a bad thing these days.

Geez... I step out of fandoms for like 5 years and from the quick glimpse off google: Shipping has changed a lot?

People now actively have a problem with what you ship? What?? Since when??

I started in an era where the fandoms were fuelled by how we saw love between the characters. Is that not how it works now?

(Don't get me wrong I am also guilty of fighting popular headcanons, but I thought the love we saw between the characters was sacred or something)

No wonder a few people have commented on my fics before complaining about what I ship. Either I was too excited about it, and they found it 'tiring', or I didn't include a different ship enough in my writing.

I was like ??? uh? this thing is tagged correctly first of all, so I would assume you're excited about this ship if you found your way to my writing. And second, this is my snowfield, who are you to say these things to me here of all places? You are not my target audience. Don't like it, drop it. This story is not for you.

Although it's easy for me to say "that's too damn bad, I'm the author" due to my arrogant personality when writing, the ORV fandom is built on strong readers. (dang constellations!)

There are many budding writers and artists out there discovering the magic of being able to craft their own world. If this is the trajectory fandoms head towards, it just makes me sad I think. Inspiration is fuelled by love too.

I now understand why some people fear fandoms growing too big.

All it takes is one person saying something negative to be discouraged, and when you're still finding your style I just think that would suck.

I'm in the kind of situation where some doctors are like "this is a perfectly normal genetic variation and nothing to worry about" while other doctors are trying to pressure me into cosmetic surgery so I can look "normal." it seems a lot of people assume I'm a trans woman or male crossdresser (flattering in a vacuum, but in today's society also tragically unsafe). really want to find some kind of community with other people in my situation and the intersex community seems the closest fit, but I feel like I need a better understanding before I can measure if it's a place I'd be welcome or if I'd be intruding.

Unpopular Hazbin/Helluva opinion:

I don't think Asmodeus gives a shit about Valentino one way or another. If he met him he would probably dislike him after a conversation but in general 1) Val isn't the only rapist in hell, 2) he's not the only person taking advantage of the porn industry and 3) he's not even the brains or face behind the Love Potions - Velvette is.

In general I don't think Ozzie would care about Val or even Angel. They are both just a couple of faces in a sea of other sinners who also mistreat or are mistreated and none of the Seven Deadly Sins has ever given any of them a second thought.

Finally someone who doesn't ship Wolfstar, and has a correct interpretation of the Marauders and their era. People like you are rare to find though I know two others.

Prongsfoot atleast makes sense but as you described, the Marauders era was all about 'four bestfriends, an `enemy to lovers`, a war and a betrayal.'

Indeed, there are very few of us canon-obsessed Marauders era fans, but I think the few of us that exist have a strong appreciation for each other. What I wouldn't give for a larger Marauders era canon fandom though!

While I am always always thrilled to hear I have got a good grip on the era (thank you very much for warming my heart <3), I will acknowledge that there are many ways to interpret the canon. What I try to do, and I always appreciate when others do too, is to distinguish between (1) what is canon; (2) what is fair/reasonable/likely interpretations based on the canon and (3) what is hc based on small stuff/limited evidence, or even nothing other than our imaginations/desires. There's nothing wrong with sharing (3) or arguing (2) - as long as it's not treated with the same authority as (1).

While I never saw Wolfstar in the text (nor do I see romantic Prongsfoot - it's just indulgent fun because I love the 'never saw one without the other' relationship Sirius and James have), I don't think I'd mind Wolfstar if it was kept truer to the source material. I am okay with different non-canon ships (Wolfstar, Prongsfoot, whatever they call RemusxJames) if it's based on the canon characterisation - and maybe that's why Prongsfoot often works best for me - because those stories, at least, cannot ignore the close relationship that exist between Sirius and James in canon.

For me though, like you point out, the Marauders are all about the friendship between the boys, and no story will get my love if the Marauders' friendships are ignored (not even Jily stories - unless we're talking narrower scope stories, like one shots). Sirius and James were best friends. Sirius and Remus were close friends. James and Remus were close friends. Peter were a close friend to them all. They were all great friends! And most of the time, I prefer the story of their friendships above this idea that they had to be sleeping with each other.
