An ask game for writers to procrastinate working on your WIP(s)
Thank you for the tags @artsyunderstudy @iamamythologicalcreature @aristocratic-otter @shrekgogurt @wellbelesbian @theearlgreymage and @ic3-que3n
I am definitely procrastinating on both my WIPs at the moment. Trails is back in limbo, and ASR has taken up permanent residence there recently, and I desperately want to get back to both of them. Here's hoping this will kick start something in my brain! I do love a good Q&A, so let's dive in!
1. 🦈 Tell us the name of your/one of your WIP(s):
I have two WIPs I am actively writing, and one I haven't started on yet, but desperately want to. The Trails We Blaze was my Carry On Through the Ages 2023 fic, and is a The Road to El Dorado!au. Then there's my original novel, A Survivor's Revenge, which I've been writing for far too long and it definitely needs to be published soon!
2. 🍄 Describe your WIP/one of your WIP(s) in the format of "___ + ___ = ___"
Ok, this is much harder than I thought it would be, there's so many elements to each of these WIPs, so bare with me.
Trails: con men in 1920s London find map to Atlantis + WW1 trauma + gang warfare + repressed romantic feelings = friends to lovers action, adventure, and chaos across western Europe that's probably been too intensely researched for the sake of historical accuracy
(Side note: this isn't how I thought I'd use my degrees in history and archaeology, but here we are!)
A Survivor's Revenge: marvel cinematic universe + James Bond = ASR
or - what would happen if Bucky wasn't brainwashed by Hydra and sought revenge on the scientists who experimented on him, was a 14 year old school girl instead of a grown man, and had elemental powers + MI6 super spies and the general aesthetic of a Bond movie = a stab first/ask questions later FMC willing to do whatever it takes to keep her loved ones safe (and I do mean whatever it takes - Lauren hasn't baulked at anything I've thrown at her yet).
3. 🌍 What tags or warnings will one of your WIP(s) need if you intend to share it.
ASR will definitely need some trigger warnings for violence (if only because of Lauren's penchant for it), and if it were being posted to AO3 the series as a whole would probably require a 'main character death' warning. This is your formal warning, no one is safe in my writing.
Trails is rated M, so there's not going to be anything too graphic or explicit, but it does have a PTSD tag, as the fic tackles both Baz and Simon's trauma from living through the First World War, and specifically Baz's claustrophobia. So I would probably warn about the panic attacks and discussion of how Baz became claustrophobic.
4. 🧭 An alternative title to one of your WIP(s)?
Neither of these had alternative titles other than my save names (Spy Novel and SnowBaz fanfic) before I decided on anything. I'm useless at coming up with titles, and I can't really claim full credit for either. A friend from uni came up with A Survivor's Revenge, which is really fitting, as revenge is a major theme in the book. And The Trails We Blaze is a reference to one of the songs from the movie The Road to El Dorado, and was Ashton's suggestion when we were bouncing ideas back and forth last year.
5. ⚠️ Which WIP you're most likely to finish or update next?
Trails will definitely be finished before ASR, purely because ASR is going to be published as a proper book, and I don't have the cash to do this independently, or the publishing deal to do it traditionally. So I know this will take time. But I am currently working on the next chapter of Trails, so hopefully it won't be too long before I can post it.
6. 💾 What is your document of your WIP/a WIP called? (not the stories actual title but what you've saved it as)
I have so many variations of both WIPs it's ridiculous. I swear there's been 100+ iterations of ASR over the years, all with variations on either A Survivor's Revenge/ASR or Spy Novel as their title.
With Trails I have my base document, which is where the rough first draft happens, in Scrivener: the trails we blaze - draft copy. And then I also have my final document in pages, where I fix the formatting ahead of exporting to AO3 (because AO3 hates it when I do it straight from scrivener and gets rid of all my italics!): the trails we blaze upload copy.
7. 🖍 Post any sentence(s) from your WIP.
This is probably one of my favourite exchanges in the first ASR book.
“Just like old times,” Lauren said. “Tell me, did you consciously decide to make my PTSD worse by assigning him to me, or was that a happy accident?” “What’s the diagnosis?” Vanessa asked, ignoring Lauren. “Fractured ribs, minor internal abdominal bleeding, concussion, and three broken fingers. She needs to rest for at least a week,” Todd said. “She has a name,” Lauren muttered. “The internal bleeding is minor for the moment, but won’t be if she doesn’t rest.” “Who’s ‘she’ in this, the cat’s mother? I am here, you know.” “Yes, and whilst I would love to trade witticisms with you, I do actually have a job to do. Part of which involves divulging a diagnosis, and pardon me if I feel certain people in this room are going to be more receptive and actually take my advice when I give it.” Lauren glanced at Vanessa. “Is he always like this?” “Just with patients. And most of the people who work here.” “So, everyone?” Vanessa thought for a moment, then bobbed her head from side to side in a movement that said Pretty much, yeah. “If we’re quite done discussing my conduct, I do actually have other patients who need my attention.” “Poor sods.” “Yes, of course,” Vanessa said, ignoring Lauren’s comments. “Have you got a treatment plan sorted?” “I’m nothing if not professional.” “Did someone switch the definition of ‘sarcastic asshat’ and ‘professional’ in the dictionary when I wasn’t looking?” Todd twisted ever so slightly away from Lauren, instead focusing entirely on Vanessa.
8. ♻️ A scrapped idea for your current WIP.
Initially in ASR Lauren was framed for the murder of a student, alongside releasing the main villain from prison (not a spoiler, it's literally in my synopsis, no worries there!), and afterward she was forced to go on the run. Essentially, it made the heads of MI6 and Lauren's best friends into her enemies for a few chapters of my drafts a couple of years back. I loved this idea, and genuinely want to implement something along these lines again, because it was an interesting position to put the characters in, but I also really love where the plot is taking them currently, so we'll see if it truly ends up remaining scrapped or not.
9. 🤔 What's a story you'd love to write but haven't even started yet?
Another original novel, this time firmly rooted in science fiction (no superhero/light fantasy elements here), where time travel is possible, but the super anxious MC refuses to use his powers to travel back in time because of the side effects of said power. Gay romance, anxiety, angst, all the good stuff!
10. 🤡 How many WIPs are you actively working on?
I'm not too active on either of my WIPs at the moment. Work's been crazy lately, and I flip between feeling super burnt out creatively and being too tired to do much. But Trails and ASR continue to be my most active WIPs.
11. 🛠 Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?
In Trails I've hit an intimate scene, and my little ace brain doesn't know how to approach it! Plus, I don't know how far I can stretch the M rating before we enter E territory.
12. ❤️ Not a question, just a second Kudos to send.
All of the kudos to everyone! I wish there was a way to leave it more than once, because seriously, the CO fandom is so unbelievably talented, my God!!

@danversiism sent: ❛   you've been neglecting our friendship, jess. you spending too much time with your boyfriend isn't good for my health.   ❜ // @neonwebs
Brows briefly pinch before flickering upwards in her surprise. ❝ ❛ Neglecting our friendship — ❜ you serious, Carol ? ❞ Collapsing into her friend's sofa, Jessica runs a hand through her hair. Thick waves turn to knots around her fingers, taking her time to untangle herself as she avoids the topic at hand ⸺ hoping her friend will say she's just kidding.
But, admittedly. . . Jess has been spending a lot of time with Miguel, sucked back into a multiverse she spent years bemoaning, whether that had been in confidence or through private thoughts. Complaints and fears hurdled Carol's way whenever the traumatised Spider actually felt like opening up. Some days she couldn't stop talking, endless words would flow from her without any valve to cease them. Others, the memories of any of it alone completely shut her down.
Most days, Jessica just didn't want to talk about it.
But it's not been like that this time. She'd met Miguel during the first apocalyptic clusterfuck. Having shared only brief moments together, considering it's rather hard to get to know someone when multiple worlds are ending. However, she knows him now, as well as she knows herself. Better even at times, she feels. She loves him now, can't have enough of him. Can't stop talking about her dimensional adventures with her boyfriend ⸺ in the rare moments she actually rips herself from him.
❝ I have not been spending too much time with him. Pfft ❛ bad for your health, ❜ don't be so dramatic. ❞
Worrying her bottom lip, she pulls it through her teeth. Carol, her rock, her constant, her greatest defender who had been by her side through thick and thin. Who looked out for her, always taking care of her whenever Jess can't manage it herself. She could come to her with anything, knowing her bestie will help solve whatever the problem may be ⸺ no matter what it takes.
So, on the off chance the blonde is serious. . .
❝ But, uh ⸺ if it is sooo hazardous for you. . . Whaddya say we do something ? Just me and you. And I don't mean like, Spider-Woman Captain Marvel something, I mean a normal something. We've never just gone on a girls' trip, me and you. I know it's not exactly easy, you've got, hm ⸺ needier obligations than I do with Avengers stuff. There's. . . just so many spiders to handle whatever could happen on my end. And Miguel would understand me getting away with you for a couple of days. ❞
Hopeful eyes turn to look at her friend. ❝ Know if you don't say yes, I'll be crushed. ❞

Decoding the Magic Behind Google Ads: A Deep Dive into How It All Works
Hey there, fellow digital adventurers it's your digital marketing agency in dwarka, vrankup! 🚀 Ready to plunge into the mesmerizing world of Google Ads? Buckle up because we're about to unravel the enigmatic workings of this online advertising marvel. From the nitty-gritty of keyword research to the adrenaline-pumping ad auctions, we're here to demystify it all in a way that even your grandma would nod along to!
The Google Ads Odyssey Begins
So, you've got a business, a grand vision, and a website that's just begging for attention. Welcome to the bustling arena of online advertising, where Google Ads reigns supreme. Formerly known as Google AdWords, it's like a grand bazaar where advertisers bid on keywords, and when folks type those magic words into Google's search box, voila! Ads pop up on the search results page, waving like digital hawkers.
Keyword Quest: The Golden Key to Success
Imagine you're a locksmith, and the keywords are your tools. But wait, what's a keyword? Well, it's the word or phrase someone types into the search bar when they're on the hunt for something. Your task? Figuring out which keywords are popular among the masses and, most importantly, relevant to what you're offering. Google's Keyword Planner tool is like your treasure map, showing you search volume, competition, and even bid estimates for these keywords.
Ad Auctions: The Battle for Digital Limelight
Alright, imagine you're in a gladiator arena, and your weapon is a bid amount. Advertisers gather here, each armed with a bid, ready to fight for that precious spot in the search results. When a search happens, an auction is triggered, and Google's algorithms decide who gets to wield the spotlight. It's not just about who's got the fattest wallet – oh no! Quality matters, too. Ad Rank is the magic formula here. It's like the arena judge, taking your bid, ad quality, ad extensions, and a dash of expected impact, then whipping up a score.
Ad Placement: Rise and Shine, Ad Warriors!
Ad Rank sorted? Great! The battle's won… almost. Your Ad Rank determines where your ad shows up in the search results. The top dog gets that sweet spot at the summit, while others follow suit in descending order. But remember, it's not just about the bid; ad quality plays the Robin to your Batman here. An ad that's both high-quality and relevant can snag a prime position without having to break the bank. |digital marketing agency in dwarka|
Coins for Clicks: The PPC Dance
Here's where the coins start clinking – pay-per-click (PPC) style. You're only charged when someone clicks your ad. It's like paying a toll when someone crosses the bridge to your digital realm. But how much do you pay? The actual cost per click (CPC) isn't just your bid; it's a dance involving your Ad Rank and Quality Score. If your ad's the party that everyone wants to join, you might even pay less per click than what your bid suggests.
Quality Score and the Relevance Revolution
Speaking of that party-worthy ad, let's talk Quality Score. Imagine you're hosting a party, and Google's the discerning guest. It wants to know if your ad resonates with what people are looking for. Are your keywords relevant, your ad copy intriguing, and your expected click-through rate (CTR) promising? If you ace these, Google throws confetti (in the form of a higher Quality Score) your way. A high score means you could pay less for a higher rank – it's like getting a VIP ticket without the VIP price tag.
Ad Formats and Extensions: Dressing Up for Success
Now, let's sprinkle some stardust on your ads. Google Ads isn't just about boring old text; it's a whole costume party! You've got sitelink extensions, where you can sneak in extra links to specific pages. Callout extensions let you brag about your unique selling points, like showing off that sparkly new tiara. And don't forget the call extensions, which let people ring you up directly from the ad – it's like having a hotline to your business. Structured snippets? They're your cue cards, showing off specific categories of what you're offering. Oh, and location extensions? They're like handing out maps to your hidden treasure.
Wrap-Up: From Navigating to Nailing It
So, there you have it, brave souls – the epic tale of how Google Ads, the modern marketing marvel, plays its symphony of clicks and conversions. From deciphering the cryptic keywords to mastering the art of ad auctions, you're now armed with insights that can turn you from a mere traveler into a triumphant trailblazer in the digital realm.
As you set forth on your Google Ads journey, remember this: it's not just about throwing money around. It's a dance of strategy, relevance, and quality. Craft ads that resonate, bid wisely, and watch your online presence shine like a thousand suns. So, whether you're a savvy marketer, a curious entrepreneur, or just someone who's always wondered about those mysterious ads on Google, go forth and conquer the digital frontier with Google Ads as your loyal steed! 🌟🎉🚀
Catch you later,

The beauty of film festivals
You've had your work screened at the Cannes Film Festival and other international circuits. What brings you to this festival oriented around new filmmakers?
Well, I don't distinguish. Film is a free medium, and anyone can join. In this day and age, with technology and a new culture, you can do anything. Some people make movies with an iPhone, so the standards are not the same. It's really a whole new world of filmmaking.
You had to work your way through the politics of '70s and '80s Hollywood. What battles within the industry have either changed or stayed the same for new filmmakers?
You can certainly make whatever you want now, but whether that's commercial or if people want to see it is another issue. There are so many films that don't get distributed. It used to be much more difficult to just make the film. Now you can make the movie, but your problem is going to be distribution. That's where it can get blocked up. Most won't get seen except by a very small group of people, right? Maybe a filmmaker's friends and family, and then some people at a festival.
If you really want to make a commercial film, then you need to pay attention to some of these rules of drama to make it interesting to a lot of people.
You took Martin Scorsese's "Sight and Sound" course as a film student at New York University. What was that like?
Marty was a great teacher. He was very sentient about film. We were coming in fresh, and he taught us that there's an art, history and tradition behind film. I think we had more respect for the medium with him as our teacher.
Nowadays there does seem to be a breakdown in the rules. That's OK, too. Who am I to say these are the rules for this or that, right? I don't know what Marty thinks now.
He's been very open about his feelings on the state of the industry. He had that infamous quote equating Marvel films to theme-park rides. Did you see that?
Yeah, and I mean, the new Deadpool film — I don't even go to those kind of things unless it's some story point that attracts me. But with home-screen advantages we have now, it's just unbelievable. We have so much choice now between old films and new films.
I'm anxious to see Twisters, though, and I will go see it. So I do keep up, but it's impossible to stay on top of all of it.
You mention Twisters, and it seems like with new technology there are more ways to make these films more enticing for audiences. They have 4DX now, where the seats shake; they have water spraying the audience…
They had that in the '50s, too. They had vomit bags; seats would shake when there'd be an earthquake. It's certainly better now, and it's far more comfortable. You can practically have dinner in a movie theater — not that I want to. But it's ultra comfortable, made for the consumer.
I'm not sure that's the idea of catharsis, of Greek theater, that I was brought up to believe this could be. I was reading movies like drama.
What sort of challenges do veterans such as yourself continue to experience that audiences might assume aren't a problem?
Well, I've never been able to buck the distribution struggles. Even when you have so-called "final cut," which I've had all these years, they find a way to pressure you, right? Your best interests are to cooperate with the authoritarian within the system and try to make them partners in your adventure so they understand what you're doing. I was never antagonistic because I didn't want those kind of relationships, but it certainly made things much more difficult.
You've worked with young filmmakers before — Anthony Drazan on Zebrahead and Stephen Milburn Anderson on South Central. What did you take away from your time producing?
We did good work, and it wasn't just those two. I helped set up a number of films— Reversal of Fortune with Barbet Schroeder and The Joy Luck Club with Wayne Wang — but I gave up after a while. I produced a few other films, but it cost me because it takes away from your credibility when [studios] count every dollar.
What prompted your shift from mainly features to documentaries?
I didn't give up on features entirely — every one I made, I invested body and soul. Mainly, the documentaries were less time-consuming, with the exception of "Untold History." I'm most proud of that one. It's the most complicated, difficult and most researched effort I've done.
Speaking of that, you're screening Platoon, Wall Street and Episode 2 of "Untold History" at the festival. What do you hope younger audiences and filmmakers will take away from them as the historical events and people grow further away?
That there's always an entire contemporary, timeless history going on — explanations for the way things are today. If you look at all my work, you'll see I have very strong feelings about that, all the way through Jack Kennedy, Nixon, George W. Bush and Edward Snowden.
Do you ever look back at your films and think there could have been other ways to endear them to audiences?
No, because the brutality of those events and figures impose their will on America. We're not educated enough on that history.
Do you have a "white whale" of historical moments or figures you haven't gotten to?
I wanted to do the My Lai massacre, and I came very close. I was two, maybe three weeks away from shooting it in Thailand, and they pulled the plug.
How important is diversification of talent in young filmmakers?
Young filmmakers, as I once was, are limited by their own experiences, right? You grow as a filmmaker as you get older and gain more experience. It's very, very important to increase that depth and wisdom.
Do you think there's optimism for new filmmakers despite the ominous problems within the industry?
I do see optimism. If somebody's making their early films and Mom, Dad, a few friends show up, that's really something. I was happy when Seizure, my first horror film, came out. My mom brought 20 of her friends down, and it was great to sit there and hear everyone's reactions.
It's wonderfully reaffirming, and these film festivals can do that on a really big scale now. It's a necessary stage to go through to get encouragement. And it's the same way Marty Scorsese once encouraged me.
-Ian Dartley, "Oliver Stone on His Career and the State of the Film Industry," Seven Days, Aug 21 2024

Ranking every 2023 film I've seen since January 1 2023 to June 25 2024 from best to worst:
Oppenheimer- Eye opening and a chef kiss of a ending.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Not as good as the first but still done very well and kept my interest even though I'm over the whole Multi-verse thing.
Poor Things- The message is simple but told in a unique way and was a very interesting watch.
Godzilla Minus One- A serious Godzilla movie is just a better Godzilla movie.
Blackberry- The start of this movie before the time jump is so great but it kinda goes down after that.
Asteroid City- It was a bit hard to follow but I got it pretty well and enjoyed the silliness and serious parts.
Killers of The Flower Moon- Too Long. Felt a lot of it could've been cut but still good and a story worth telling.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3- The stuff with Rocket is really well done but everything else is silly and not as done as well as the other two.
Maestro- I loved Carey Mulligan performance and didn't get the hate for this.
The Killer- I enjoyed it and was into most of it. Don't know what people expected.
John Wick: Chapter 4- If you don't take it seriously it's a fun watch.
Fingernails- Unique film that I enjoyed just for that.
Barbie- Better than I expected but are the male characters suppose to be more interesting than the females?
Nimona- Animation and characters are good but the story is a story you've seen before but told in a different way.
The Iron Claw- Good but felt it could've been better
The Boy and the Heron- I wanted a more personal story or a big fantasy adventure. This tried to do both and didn't work as well.
Late Night with the Devil-A interesting premise done well but not as scary as you would hope.
Next Goal Wins- Heartwarming and fun but maybe not as accurate and a bit cliche.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves- It's like a Marvel fantasy film and that's not necessarily a bad thing
Saltburn- I was a bit confused on how they wanted me to view this movie but it was good film.
The Creator- Liked better than others. Mainly for how it looked and the acting. The story was cliche.
Beau is Afraid- I was so excited for this but its message was so basic for such a weird story and didn't need to be as long as it was.
Hot Potato: The Story of the Wiggles- Didn't realize there was so much drama when it came to the Wiggles
Leave The World Behind- Very interesting premise that led to a letdown conclusion.
Knock at the Cabin- Wish it was done better than it was. It's a better M Night movie but felt it could've been better.
Super Mario Bros. Movie- Everything you heard bad about this movie is probably true but dangit nostalgia got me.
Past Lives- Oh god. I'm sorry okay but it wasn't as good as I hoped but the acting was good!
Saw X- One of the better Saw but nothing beats the first.
Dream Scenario- The premise is good but overstays its welcome.
Evil Dead Rises- It was fine. There wasn't much not to like about it but nothing blew me away either.
Scream 6- Let down from Scream 5 or whatever you want to call it. Too bad this is the end of Scream an (d they're never making another again (you heard me)
The Marvels- Not as bad as people say but felt it needed bigger stakes
Priscilla- A bit boring. Felt it needed more to show or say.
Missing- Gets silly by the end just like the first one but the lead in this was not good unlike the first one.
A Good Person- A very depressing watch with a lame ending.
Elemental- World is weird and doesn't make much sense and it's a Romeo and Juliet story as you expect but I still wasn't bored.
Blue Beetle- I wanted this film to be good so bad but it was so basic.
Stan Lee- Wasn't as biased as I thought but it was big Marvel love fest. 39- Shazam! Fury of the Gods- It's like the Shazam never grew up and he's really annoying in it.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: Feels so long since I've seen this. Kang was good for a bit but nothing else really stood out.
The Flash- I didn't hate this as much as everybody else. Probably mainly because of Ezra Miller performance even though I hate to admit that.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom- I don't know what this was but it wasn't Aquaman.
She Came to Me- The characters were lame for the most part.
Paint- Should've just made a Bob Ross biopic.
Wish- This was like a Disney tribute movie but not done well and just a mess.
Plane- Why did people like this? It was lame action movie that I barely remember.

Hi :) I feel, as a big Bat-comic fan, you probably watched a lot of DC shows and cartoons (or at least Batman related). Do you watch superhero productions not DC related? If I remember correctly, you once mentioned Loki.
Currently? Not... really. I didn't even finish Loki, only got to episode 2 or 3, because it went entirely downhill from there, characterization-wise. For me, both Thor and Loki as characters are not the same ever since Ragnarok. Which I am bitter about, because I used to love Loki a lot.
But this makes it obvious I have watched Marvel stuff, besides DC :)) I haven't kept up with all their TV series, but from the more recent ones, I did like WandaVision (minus the finale, I am still pissed off about it) and Moon Knight. God, really loved Moon Knight, fully recommend it. I liked Jessica Jones too, and the first season of Daredevil. But, in general, I've gotten just as disillusioned with Marvel as everyone else on this webbed site, so I've long stopped actively following their stuff. That being said... I have seen (checks letterboxd list) 82% of all existing Marvel movies, apparently. Sigh. I even watched Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, which had the sole redeeming qualities of camp horror and seeing Wanda go feral (because ohoho, that cameo from Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier made me so mad; it was utilized in the dumbest, most OOC way). But I'm certainly not planning on going to watch any other Marvel movie very soon. Maybe pirating one, but not paying for it.
X-Men though! I've watched both the original and the newer movies, plus the X-Men animated series from the 90's and X-Men: Evolution (which is great). If I haven't been insane about it enough on this blog, I must say I love Michael Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as Professor X. X-Men: First Class is pretty much a friends-to-lovers-to-enemies fever dream with extra found family on the side. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Then, Days of Future Past I also stand by, but Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are horrid.

It wasn't inevitable for you to not notice that Bucky had been absent-minded since the three of you came to the bar. The beers were rolling on the table as the chat turned from their mission to Sam's war stories. You were having a good night, sharing laughs and past adventures, disconnecting from work, until Bucky stood up while having a long sip from his bottle. I need air, he just said, causing your other partner and you to look at each other a little confused. You glanced at him leaving the place before putting back your attention on Sam. He waved his head to the exit, urging you to follow the soldier outside.
You didn't need anything else to do it, leading your steps throughout the crowd of people there to find Bucky. Once outdoors and zipping up your jacket, you glimpsed a shadow coming into the next corner to a dead-end street. Rubbing your nose, you continued to the alley without hesitating, hearing some grunts echoing between both buildings. He was there. Hands placed against the wall, head bowed and eyes closed. His chest rose and fell furious, trying to breathe. You didn't think about your actions, putting a foot wrong when you rested your fingers on his middle back.
His whole anatomy shook, walking away from you almost sweating and scared, but ready to attack. Until Bucky laid his eyes on you.
“It's okay, it's okay… It's me”. You intoned using a soft and calm tone of voice.
“Sorry, uh… I just… I can't bre— breathe”. He waved the vibranium hand close to his chest, gasping like a fish out of water.
He was having a panic attack and you knew exactly why. Taking two long strides, you landed a hand on the back of his head and grabbed his flesh hand strongly, guiding him to the closest wall to rest him on it.
“Hey, hey, James… James focus on me, c'mon, focus on me”. You called him, sliding your fingers across his neck to force him to look at you. “Breathe with me, okay?”
Fixing your orbs in his, you show him how he had to do it. Inhaling through your nostrils, holding the air for three seconds, and exhaling it by your nose. He followed your instructions, once and again, until he was respiring quietly and normally.
“Now, repeat with me. I'm not the Winter Soldier anymore, I'm James Buchanan Barnes”.
“I'm no— not the Winter… Soldier anymore… I'm James Buchanan Barnes”.
“That's it… That's it... One more time. Can you say it for me one more time? Please”. Your honeyed tone made his pulse slow down, nodding with his chin.
“I'm not the Winter Soldier anymore. I'm James Buchanan Barnes”. His voice was firm now, finally believing his own affirmation.
“You back?” You whispered caressing his rough cheek using your thumb.
“Yeah… I just… had all those voices… screaming inside my head. I couldn't shut them up”. He explained, squeezing your hand between his digits, rested close to his heart. “That… That… I, uh… In Madripoor… I… I heard Zemo saying how easy was for me to… y'know, come ba—”
“Don't do that to yourself, Bucky. You've worked really hard to be where you are right now”.
“You mean in an alley that smells like peed and puke, having an atta—”.
Again, you didn't think about your actions, slapping his face with your free hand and furrowing towards him. Bucky's mouth dropped to the floor, more than surprised and gulping a complaint.
“Why…? Did you just…? What the hell?”
“You were wandering again”. You excused your gesture. “Want another, uh?”
“Hell, no!” He pouted at you, looking through his eyelids trying to make you feel sorry. “Why a slap? Did you think that was a good way to calm somebody? Why not a kiss?”
“Oh, god… here we go 'gain”. You couldn't help but roll your eyes with the intention of drawing some distance between both, but he pushed you closer till your chests were practically stuck to the other.
“'M not stupid”. He scoffed securing his vibranium arm around your lower back to not let you go.
“I was worried, Buck”.
“See? You call me like that”.
“Like what? It's your name”.
“Uh… Not actually”. The soldier replied, shaking his head to both sides briefly. “Only Steve called me like that, he was my friend”.
“So am I”.
“Are you?”
His gaze made you feel weak, breaking down the walls around your heart that too much time costed you to build. You licked your upper lip with resignation, leaning and resting your forehead on his clavicle. You afforded to close your eyes and tour his neck back to his scalp to tangle your fingers there, slowly, gently, fondly. It was a step to admit your real feelings for Bucky, and he accepted it without refusing.
The soldier kissed your temple to put his chin on top of your head, holding you tighter and rolling down his eyelids to only focus on your caresses. For an instant, everything disappeared around you. The world got emptied. The noise got shut down.
“I was scared. Not for me, but for you”. You confessed, not needing to explain why. He was conscious about your reasons because he was too somehow. “But that's not gonna happen again”.
At the moment you raised your face, Bucky took the advantage to press his lips on your forehead. “How could it, if I have you to remind me who I am?”
“I'm just a plus, Buck. Don't give me a credit you earned by yourself and your constant work. You did it alone, I just supported you”.
“Like fewer people did, and like fewer people do”.
“You've never cared about people's opinion”.
“Yeah, till my relationship with Sam changed. And till I met you”. Bucky affirmed very securely.
“But don't forget you're a fighter. You're strong, you deserve good things to happen to your life”.
“I won't”. He responded, bringing your hand tangled to his flesh one to his lips, placing a kiss on the back of yours. “Thank you…”
“You don't have to”. Clicking your tongue, you couldn't help but roll your eyes. “Let's come back to the bar, we need another round of beers”.
“I can't get drunk, remember?”
“You have so much fun watching me being drunk, remember?”
“How could I forget it? You always make that… horrible impression of my arm, with those… robot noises”. Bucky chuckled, pinching your side and causing you to jump slightly under his grip. Your laugh made him feel better.
“C'mon! You love it!”
“Oh, yeah, I do”. He opened his eyes a little more, nodding his head while placing his vibranium arm on your shoulders, but without loosening the hold around your other hand. “I'd like to see you imitating Sam tonight”.
“Nasty boy…” You joked with a giggle.

WHAT MAKES IT WORTH IT CHAPTER IV- AVOID.
Warnings:Swearing, small fight scene
Thanks for everyone who sent in suggestions from the prompt list!
You weren't sure how you were going to do this. How you were going to avoid having these secret moments with Tom so abruptly but you knew it had to happen.
This was getting you nowhere, your feelings would eventually get in the way of work and truth be told you still needed this job.
So you started small, like pulling your hand away when he grabs it or sitting next to anyone else except for him. You started to ask Harrison to wake Tom up early in the morning to get him to taping and he reluctantly obliged telling you that confronting Tom about your feelings would be more helpful and solve all your problems.
But it wasn't that easy, nothing with Tom was even as kids he would disagree with you and do the exact opposite of what you wanted to do, he was a pain in the ass.
Now is a whole other world of problems starting with how to detach yourself from him in any form possible, the first step to erasing your feelings for him.... Maybe.
Truth be told you had no idea how to do it or if it will even work cause you knew you were already in too deep, getting rid of your feelings for him seemed impossible.
You've been successful so far and so far meaning a couple of days and you weren't sure how much longer you can keep it up.
You missed him, everything about him. The way his hands felt against your skin, his soft lips pressing small kisses on random parts of your body, his body enveloping yours in his completely. You missed the comfort, you missed his laugh to the point that every chuckle physically pained you.
It hurted more everyday that passed, it made you want to run into his arms and stay there forever. But that wasn't possible you kept telling yourself everytime the thought came into your mind which happened way too often
You weren't sure if he noticed, if he did it didn't matter, he wasn't making much of an effort anyway.
But Tom did notice. He noticed the way your hand would slip away from his evertime he tried. He noticed how you didn't sat next to him anymore. How you made excuses to not join him for his naps, how you made Harrison wake him up Every morning instead of going yourself. He noticed how you would pull away from him when he started to get close
He figured that maybe you were mad at him or something so he gave you space thinking that in a couple of days everything would go back to normal. He hoped it will.
He missed you, more than he'd ever admit to himself. He missed running his fingers through your hair everytime you got a headache, he missed holding your hand and the comfort you provided, he missed the way you would fit into him so perfectly when he'd hold you as the both of you were sleeping, he missed your voice telling him off, your laugh, everything. It was almost painful.
But days turned to weeks and those weeks turned into a month, it was taking a toll on the both of you it was evident on the bags unde. your eyes and your forced smiles.
Tom didn't understand why you were acting the way that you were, it was starting to not matter at all. He just wanted his best girl back.
Tonight you were out clubbing with the rest of the gang, you needed to get drunk and Tom had a plan to talk to you.
So after entering the club you immediately went to the bar and ordered your favorite drink hoping to get drunk by the end of the night.
Your wishes came true cause nearing the end of the night you were drunk and dancing with strangers.
One particular stranger caught your eye, he was tall and had charming brown eyes and in your drunken state it was enough to get you giggling like a school girl.
Tom however wasnt in the mood for a drink and he kept an eye on you all night long, keeping an eye on the man that spoke to you at the bar.
Noticing his hand on your waist and the way you smiled up at him, he could almost hear your laugh if it weren't for the music blasting through the speakers surrounding the area.
He let you do your thing, let you get drunk, let you hang around this guy but that didn't stop the sinking feeling in his chest. It didn't stop him from clenching his jaw and his hand curl up into a fist.
Harrison noticed of course. Tom was never one to turn down a drink or a good time and so he followed his line of sight and there you were, flirting with a handsome stranger.
He had to laugh, you were both idiots who kept denying the way you felt about one another.
'She seems to be having a good time" Haz says nudging tom a little
"Mmm" Tom hummed in agreement.
"why aren't you?" Haz says turning to Tom
"What are you talking about? I am having a good time" Tom denies.
"uh huh, that shit doesn't work on me." Haz gives him a look.
"nothing, I just- I want my girl back." Tom says sighing
"She's not yours though, is she?" Haz says cautiously
"No she's- not in that way. You know what I mean" Tom stutters out.
"Yeah I know exactly what you mean. Why don't you make her yours?" Haz asks.
"We're not like that, man. Besides she deserves someone better" Tom says shaking his head.
"Someone better? What kind of better?" Haz asks outraged
"you know, someone stable. Someone who's not everywhere every time." Tom says.
"Mate she travels with you everywhere" Haz says flatly.
"yeah but that isn't what she wants now is it? She likes to settle down. She likes to stay at home, she's adventurous sure, but my kind of adventures aren't for her." Tom says.
"That doesn't even make any sense" Haz says and Tom sighs.
"Listen, Me and y/n, we're not like that. We can't" Tom says with finality
Harrison was about to respond when they heard a squeal very much like yours and they both turn their heads to where the sound came from
There they found you trying (and failing) to push the man away from you. Who was clearly trying to make a move
Tom's blood immediately boiled at the sight. Almost like blacking out he was suddenly punching the guy away from you.
"What the fuck, man?" the unknown guy said wiping blood off his face
"Thomas!" you shouted at the same time in shock immediately holding him back.
"She said no, man." Tom said menacingly.
"Why don't you mind your own fucking business?" The man said pushing tom provoking him further
"She is my business now back the fuck off will you?" Tom said lowly.
The man was about to throw another punch at Tom when Harrison interviened
"I wouldn't do that if I were you or would you rather face a billion dollar lawsuit for damaging Marvel's golden boy?" Haz said clicking his tounge tilting his head slightly.
The man left with an angry huff leaving you with Tom and Haz.
"Take her home, Tom" Haz then turned to you "And you little miss, are in a lot of trouble." pointing his finger at you a smirk playing on his lips.
Tom dragged you away after an exchange of goodbyes with your other friends keeping a tight arm on you as he goes along making sure you stayed by his side.
You on the other hand was still pretty out of it, just sober enough to understand what happened.
Tom led you to the car and you sat in silence for a while, you all too willing to keep ignoring him. If you break now you don't know what would happen.
"So that's it? You'll keep ignoring and avoiding me and think that I don't notice?" Tom said breaking his silence.
"I'm not avoiding you nor am I ignoring you." You said trying to keep your voice.
"I thought the saying went 'drunk people say sober thoughts" Tom said raising his eyebrow at you
"I'm sober" you said defensively
"You were drinking like a damn fish" Tom said flatly
"I may have had a couple shots." you say pouting
"Uh huh, that's what I thought." Tom says humorously.
"Why are you like this? What did I do?" Tom
"You didn't do anything."You shrugged
"Then why are you mad at me?" Tom said defeatedly.
"I'm not mad at anyone" you said blankly.
"Well why are you acting like this, then?" Tom asks
"Acting like what?" You ask brows furrowed.
"Acting like, like,, not like you!" Tom says.
"And when did you become an expert on who I am?" you ask incredulously
"You can't possibly think you're the only one who picks up on habits, who cares enough to notoce anything?" Tom ask rhetorically but you answer anyway.
"Yes. I do. And if anyone else were to, they wouldn't be you." You say.
"and why is that?" Tom asks
"The only person you care about is yourself." Ypu say, immediately wanting to take it all back.
"That's bullshit and you know it." Tom says hotly.
It was. You knew it was. You knew he cared more than he'd ever let on. You knew he cares too much sometimes. He always cared.
But you stayed silent anyways. You were persistent on staying like this. You didn't have it in you to find out what would happen if partially drunk you started talking about what's wrong.
So the drive continued silently. You didn't notice falling asleep but the next thing you knew you were being carried up.
You felt the familiar warmth wrapping around you and you immediately relax, you missed this, everything about it and now here you were back in his arms like and you didn't know how the hell you could ever pry yourself away from him ever again.
So you open your eyes slightly still half asleep.
I love you.
You wanted to say. You wanted him to know. You wanted to just tell him right there.
But you didn't..
"you have, the most beautiful eyes, Tommy." you muttered so quietly it was a miracle he heard you.
"Really, love? I thought they're quite boring?" Tom said humorously reminding you of a moment where you told him that his eyes were indeed boring
You and Tom were only starting to get along, today you had to help him with his lines, Tom always had a hard time reading his lines but he did great remembering it, his dyslexia has been getting difficult especially being mixed with stress and time zone changes, so he needed extra help studying his lines.
The scene you were reading was between him and Zendaya, a scene where they take off swinging in the city and the dialogue starts once they land
"Oh my god I am never doing that again" you said acting as though you were breathless
"It was fun! Sorry, did I freak you out?" he said acting happy then immediately switched to concernedYou lift your eyes from the script meeting his eyes feeling yourself slowly drifting deeper into his chocolate colored eyes.
"No, I just uhm.. I-" you stutter forgetting the lines immediately looking back down on your script and blushing
"Getting lost in my eyes, love?" He says teasingly a smirk dancing on his lips.
"Oh please Thomas, who would get lost in your eyes?" you scoff bot allowing yourself to get caught.
"You apparently." Tom chuckles and you scoff
"How could I? You have the most boring, standard eyes anyones ever had" You say rolling your eyes"
whatever you say, darlin'."
"Hmm, I lied" you hum.
"I know darling, I saw you blush." Tom says laughing "Nothing wrong in thinking I'm attractive, love" he shrugs a smile playing on his lips as he lays you down on the bed Taking off your shoes and crouched on the floor near you brushing hair away from your face.
"There is when you don't think the same." you mumbled.
"Now who said I don't find you attractive?" Tom chuckles
"I did." You sneered sleepily.
"Now that's just ridiculous, love. I think you're gorgeous." Tom said softly, seriously, admiration clear in his voice
You opened you eyes only to meet his and your gazes lock on each other.
"Can I tell you a secret, love?" Tom asks
"Anything." you answer right away.
"I really want to kiss you right now." Tom says brushing his thumb against your cheek.
"then kiss me." You said seriously your eyes still locked on each other.
"If I kiss you right now, I won't be able to stop." Tom said his lips inches away from you.

TOP 10 NINTENDO SWITCH GAMES 2019 - my arbitrary list!
Sometimes it's good to be proven wrong. I was pretty sceptical when the Switch was first announced, as it didn't seem too different from the Wii U's gamepad. Then I spent two years watching Nintendo enjoy a complete reversal of fortune, to the point of potentially amassing a more compelling library than Sony's or Microsoft's consoles. So that's how I quite suddenly found myself buying a Switch in October 2019, after having resisted the PS4 and Xbone for five whole years, and my free time has since been dominated by this little machine that defied the odds.
Some of Nintendo's business decisions can still seem inexplicable, but releasing a powerful handheld console that can also be docked with a TV at a moment's notice has proved to be an inspired idea, rather than the gimmick the Wii U's gamepad mostly turned out to be. And along with Nintendo's dependable series of top-notch exclusives, the Switch has enjoyed much better third-party support, which is how I ended up buying Dark Souls for the fourth bloody time just because the option to play it portably was too tempting to resist.
The Switch is the first console I've bought since the PS3 and for all Nintendo's quirks, there's a reason the Switch has dominated Christmas wishlists for three years running. Games like Super Mario Odyssey feel like full-size adventures that just happen to have a portable option, as opposed to handheld games you can also play on the big screen. This is the first year in a long while that I've actually played enough topical titles to justify a "games of the year" list, even if my recent Nintendo bias is pretty blatant.
So with that caveat in mind, and in no particular order, here's my entirely subjective list of the best Nintendo Switch games of 2019.
Tumblr media
Luigi's Mansion 3
This is a franchise I'd always been curious about and can finally have an opinion on. The process of going from floor to floor of the hotel hoovering up ghosts and solving puzzles is pretty straightforward, but Luigi's Mansion 3 has so much polish and personality crammed into the cartridge. Luigi is immediately lovable as a determined coward, and each level has a wildly different theme that's realised with extravagant audio and visual flair, so progress always feels rewarding. Though this isn't true horror by any means, there can be an unsettling atmosphere and some of the bosses are pretty freaky. I officially love this oddball franchise and am desperate for a chance to play the story again in co-op. Unquestionably a first-class exclusive.
Tumblr media
Doom (Switch port)
Not to be confused with the impressive Switch version of Doom 2016, this is the iconic Doom made cheap and accessible. While purists may take issue with some minor technical deviations, this is the first time I've got most of the way through Doom because the portability and *glorious* true dual-stick control makes this easily my favourite version. There's even a cheat menu for when I just want to mindlessly punch hell beasts. The main thing that ages Doom is its maze-like structure, but playing it casually experience alleviates that frustration somewhat. At a grand total of four pounds, this is a BFB (big fucking bargain).
Tumblr media
Untitled Goose Game
You know a game is good when the only asterisk I put on my recommendation is that it *may* be overpriced. Untitled Goose Game took the internet by storm this year because it's the quintessential indie game: cute, simple and with anti-authoritarian undertones. As a horrible goose, it's your mission to cause havoc in an unsuspecting English village, interacting with people and objects to cause chain reactions of chaos. Some of the puzzle solutions are maybe a bit obscure, but 90% of the time just messing around with everything in the area will lead to a solution. Untitled Goose Game makes up for its brevity with sheer comedic charm, feeling much better-designed than a "lul so random" affair like Goat Simulator. A honking good time.
Tumblr media
Terraria (Switch port)
I have spent literally hundreds of hours on the PC version of Terraria, so when I was broke after buying my Switch the new Terraria port was an obvious cost-effective choice. While the controls aren't as precise, the amount of time spent mining and sorting through loot makes this a great handheld experience. I can't comment on the multiplayer options but few games represent such a sheer value for money, as there's always a new cave to explore or a new boss to overcome. Time has been kind to this 2011 classic, grind notwithstanding.
Tumblr media
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
While I personally enjoyed the original Yooka-Laylee, it was definitely flawed and I never seriously expected to see a sequel. But Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair launched quite abruptly and did a pretty spectacular job of upstaging its predecessor. All the previous game's half-baked feel has been replaced with clever design touches, like the equippable tonics which grant helpful abilities at the cost of a currency penalty. The titular Lair is actually the final level and available to throw yourself at right from the beginning, but beating it without first obtaining more hitpoints by completing other stages is incredibly hard, which is a great way to incentivize progress without denying more confident players the option of beating the game earlier if they can meet the challenge. Impossible Lair might be this year's biggest surprise, and despite a modest budget I think it's worthy of comparison to excellent 2D platformers like Rayman Legends. Just don't expect to defeat Capital B on your first attempt.
Tumblr media
A Hat In Time (Switch port)
I recently reviewed A Hat In Time but at the risk of repeating myself, it's one of the most charming games of the last few years and an incredibly impressive crowdfunded achievement. Mario's offerings may be a grander technical feat, but A Hat In Time is a fast and fabulous journey through a series of weird and wonderful worlds that all feel distinct in content and tone. It's very openly inspired by GameCube-era platformers like Mario Sunshine and Psychonauts and it easily scratches that itch. Simply one of the best original platformers of this generation, and I defy you not to love Hat Kid's cheeky antics.
Tumblr media
Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch port)
As someone who thinks the original Spyro trilogy holds up better than most early 3D games, I'd have actually preferred a simple port rather than a full remake, but The Reignited Trilogy is honestly impeccable. The updated visuals are gorgeous while maintaining the general style of those old, jaggy models, and very little of the gameplay or content has changed except for sensible updates like the ability to immediately warp between every level you've visited. Having full dual-analogue control is also an absolute godsend even for a PS1 veteran like me. Though Spyro may seem a bit basic these days when faced with modern platformer marvels, the Reignited Trilogy makes these old favourites accessible again at a generous price point.
Tumblr media
Ring Fit Adventure
Yes, I have a Wii kicking around in a box somewhere. No, Wii Fit never held my attention as anything more than a curiosity. Ring Fit Adventure, meanwhile, is limited only by my cholesterol-encrusted heart and dislike of excessive showering. This is an honest-to-goodness attempt at making an RPG out of a workout toy, and the amount of polish put into the game's presentation and hardware implementation is pretty remarkable. Levels involve jogging on the spot and squeezing the ring accessory to collect goodies and overcome obstacles, and periodically you'll engage in turn-based combat where you use a custom selection of exercise moves to deal damage. It's a fantastic idea pulled off much more elegantly than it sounds. The ring accessory unfortunately makes this quite an expensive game, so it'll take a lot of regular use to get your money's worth, but I can honestly (and surprisingly) say that exercise suddenly becomes more compelling when it's presented as a light RPG adventure with anthropomorphic gym equipment encouraging you to take breaks and drink plenty of water.
Tumblr media
Pokémon Sword/Shield
Disclaimer: I can only give my impressions from 25 hours of playing Pokémon Shield, so this is DEFINITELY not a full review. That being said, this is still an easy recommendation to existing Pokemaniacs and a good starting point for any new acolytes. While the core formula hasn't evolved (har har) much since the very first Pokemon, Sword and Shield still has a number of modern quality of life improvements that make previous generations show their age. I've had so much fun building a core crew of cute and/or badass 'mons in a weird Nintendo version of Britain, and the online features combine with a VASTLY improved random encounter system to make grinding far less of a concern. The wild area takes some getting used to, but it's satisfying to come back and capture the huge Onyx you had to run away from a few hours before. Even if Pokémon Sword/Shield has some technical blemishes and could have pushed the series further in some regards, it's still easy to see why this franchise has maintained such a beloved status for so long.
Tumblr media
Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-mars-tered (Switch port)
Along with Dark Souls, Red Faction was a game I never even knew I needed on the go, but now I've got it I can't imagine ever going back. A cult classic due to its amazing destruction physics, Red Faction sees you leading a proletariat revolution on Mars, literally tearing down corporate monuments to free the working class from systematic oppression. The open world is a bit claustrophobic and the shooting isn't exactly mind-blowing, but there's a reason I've beaten Red Faction every couple of years ever since its original 2009 release. The Switch port does the game justice and if you set the difficulty to easy then this is one of the best rage-venting experiences money can buy. So yes, I recommend getting your ass to Mars.

It's a little too soon for me to be brainstorming for a new doll, but I'm doing it anyway because otherwise I'd be miserable.
Tumblr media
The doll in question is the lovely Spider Gwen, to go alongside Nissima as Sydnei, Keyblade Wielder from the Land of Imagination. I recently read the comics Marvel did about Figment and the Dreamfinder, and it's got me super inspired to tie it into my Kingdom Hearts story that's brewed in my head on and off for a while now. Hence why I'm using a Marvel doll, I like being meta like that. If you're unfamiliar with this tale, it's based off of an attraction at Disney's Epcot that's been changed over the years to no longer include the Dreamfinder, called Journey into Imagination with Figment. In the comic, the Dreamfinder is an inventory named Blair living in London in 1910, searching for ways to create energy out of brainpower. In his experiments, he accidentally creates a purple dragon from his imagination named Figment, and the two go on a marvelous adventure.
In adapting it to Kingdom Hearts, I'd love to try bringing it in using the adventuring days of Master Yen Sid, the wizard who lives in the mysterious tower that sends Sora on his missions. Goofy has mentioned many times now that they used to travel and protect worlds together, so I'd like to dive into that since the game series hasn't, and probably never will given how many medias Yen Sid belongs to. My thought is that while he's out in Blair's story trying to help against the various threats, he imagines having a keyblade wielder to help them out, and thus Sydnei comes into existence, much like Figment did, to help against the threat. She goes off and lives her life in the realms of imagination and assisting Blair and Figment after Yen Sid comes home, but several years later, he calls on her again to come help after the events of KH3, when there are mysteries to be solved about the organization. While Sora handles the mysteries, she goes out and helps some worlds that he doesn't have time to attend to, such as Atlantica during the plot of The Little Mermaid 2, where she meets and teams up with Nissima. I want to add one more person to their team, but I haven't determined who yet. I considered Oswald, or maybe Goofy's son Max, even Stitch for a little bit, but nothing has fit so far. But yeah, this is my way to cross many worlds, including movies like Cocoa, Atlantis, Inside Out, maybe Moana, too many good options!
But back to the doll, I'm having some trouble working out her design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hardest part is coming up with something that fits the steampunk aesthetic of her world while still reading as a Kingdom Hearts design. Admittedly I don't work with steampunk as a genre ever, so this is a new experience. The other issue is that my sewing skills aren't great. I know how to make ponchos for toys though, and I really love the idea of her having a small poncho or shawl. I have a bag of discarded charms with some golden rose beads and other small beads that may work for dressing up her pigtails and accessories. Maybe if I change the boots to be more button up and leather, that could work nicely. I know I had a lot of fun dressing up Nissima's pants, as originally they were white and stained, so I used watered down acrylics to add some interest. I'd like to do something similar with this shawl, then paint some sunset-like clouds onto it. I dunno what my palette is for sure. I've considered the Sorcerer's Apprentice with bold white, blue, and red to fit with Yen Sid, but I also like the pastel purple and orange for Figment. I also feel like there should be something on her head, but I don't know what. And don't get me started on the keyblade, that's gonna be super tricky. I have an old compass I may bring into it though.
That's enough rambling from me though. I just needed to spill something so I could move on with the day. We're all moved in, but the house has been tense, and I need a break. Thanks for listening, and if you've got any constructive feedback or advice, let me know! I'm still early on in Syd's design stage and I want to make her shine. Have a great day folks!

Mickey McGinnes x Reader: The time Traveler
Beginning To Feel Like Hell!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I don't own either the pictures or the characters)
It was a hot summer day, and you were currently feeling heartbroken. You unfortunately just witnessed your now ex-boyfriend on a date with some girl he swore up and down was just a 'friend', not even an hour ago while going to pick up your takeout order.
Now here you are, on your couch, trying to forget and move on by watching one of your favorite shows: Hell on Wheels.
You wish you could emerse yourself in the show, and live right alongside the characters you love. You wish you could help them, to show them your way of life, and make theirs easier. To give them your knowledge in hopes to save them.
But, alas, that could never happen. Right?
As you sit through the show, slowly snacking/eating your way through heartbreak, you find yourself wanting to at least venture out to the towns that once held the bustling railway. You think about how you need to get out into the world more often, and how you should experience what life has to offer a bit more.
Finally, the show is over with, and you've made up your mind! You think to yourself: What Do I Have To Lose?
Cullen enjoyed adventure, so why can't you?
So that night, you called into work and asked for the week off. Your boss is your older sibling, and they saw your Facebook status. They think it's best you try and find yourself on a journey, and want whatever is going to make you happy again. They grant you your time off, and you get to work on planning out your bus fare, and motel fees.
That Sunday, you packed your bags full of anything you'd need for adventure. You figure you better bring all your sexiest and cutest clothes you've got, because why not try and get back out there along the way maybe?
~~~~~~~~~~~
You wake up and get ready, as soon as you can. Don't wanna miss the bus! You put on a nice outfit, hoping to lift your spirits! (See pic above)
The first stop, is Durant, Iowa. You figure you'll start here and work your way along the railroad. By the end of the trip, you want to feel refreshed and new, having been out in the world a little bit. It takes a few bus stops here and there, but you feel confident and hopeful that maybe something might happen once you get to Durant. You could always use more friends!
Before you can check into your motel, you decide to take your things with you for a small hike in the woods near the railroad. So with two duffel bags on each arm, you follow along the tracks and take in the scenery.
As you make it near a rocky area, you come across a shiny/sparkling stone. You like that it matches your sparkly outfit, so you decide to pick it up as a keepsake. You keep walking a little farther, and find a nice rock to sit on, and plop down. Why you decided to wear heals is beyond you. There was nothing wrong with boots you guessed. However, you figured a complete look was just, better? Boy did your feet hurt though.
You sat in silence, just taking in all the beautiful scenery around you. You take out your newly found gem stone, and marvel at just how pretty it really was in the sunlight. You wondered how it would look in the moonlight...
You found yourself getting sleepy really fast all the sudden. You panicked internally, thinking you've exhausted yourself a little too much. You grab your Brita water bottle and sip on the still refreshingly cold water, hoping the cold water will re-awaken your senses. You put your water bottle away, checking your watch, feeling sleepier by the minute, only to stare wide eyed at what it was doing. You begin to the hands go backwards, and increase in pace slowly by the minute. You must be having a heart induced stroke! That's impossible for a brand new Rolex to do! Your sibling just bought it for you as a good luck gift, and now it's already broken?
You lie down on the rock, hoping it will ease your body, but you soon realise that was a mistake. You feel your body get more and more exhausted by the second. Soon you feel yourself giving in, and your eyes start to close, allowing yourself to give into the need to rest...
