a mirage of innocence.

the idea of ysiraena being some dark and mysterious being was a warped perception, especially after her death. twisted by the annals of history and distorted by bitter men who couldn't reach immortality through her blood.
truth was the saint liked lighter clothes, liked to seem the innocent nymph chosen by the gods despite the gaping, yawning, hunger beneath her doll like face. she wanted to be good. she tried to be good, even though wickedness called to her in every moment.
she liked being revered, worshipped performing blessings and stopping droughts just by her tears. she liked the holy temples performing seances, tending to the sick and performing feats of magick effortlessly that would otherwise take other maegi years to even do.
but fate and prophecy would never allow her to be anything more than the mother of evil. mother of monsters.

Rus In Urbe [To Our Quiet Moments]
Summary :
(I want him to stay, to belong. I want him to carve a place for himself in my home as he carved a place for himself in my heart. I want him to belong to me, for me to belong to him, for us to belong to each other.) The trembling sigh that escaped him seemed almost too loud in its indelicacy, impolite in the roughness of that almost spat-out exhalation. Veritas' feather tufts, more decorative than truly functional, fluttered atop his head at the sound, drawing the scholar from his reading. Aventurine soon found himself subjected to Ratio's piercing gaze, the doctor taking the time to blink softly once before turning the entirety of his unwavering focus on Aventurine's curled up form, slumped a few feet away from him. "Is something the matter, dear gambler ?" Aventurine couldn't help his chuckle, soft and surprised, laced with mirth and a disbelief so fond it tasted almost sickeningly sweet. “No, Veritas, nothing to worry about,” he replied, the syllables rolling off his tongue with the round sweetness of those aniseed candies that Ratio enjoyed nibbling. “Just realized something.”
Gift for @havanillas after their latest post about Owl!Ratio made me write this on the spot. I am UNWELL and I have FEELINGS. So I'm making it everyone's problem.

"How do you do it, gambler?"
Aventurine glanced up from the drink in his hand, an identical one clutched tightly in Dr. Ratio's.
"Do what?"
"Maintain a relationship."
Aventurine blinked, before his head shot up again to look at the doctor. Veritas didn't even spare him a glance, eyes glued to the scene in front of them— a grand IPC ball, held for investors and connections to be made. It was always a busy and grand event, one the Intellegensia Guild had to attend to maintain the IPC's investment.
It really wasn't Dr. Ratio's scene, but he had been chosen as their representative anyway.
"I'm not particularly adept at that, my dear doctor." Aventurine chuckled, watching the alcohol swirl in his glass.
"You are far more able then I am. Even upon falsities and fake promises, you managed to chat and converse with people in a sort of ease," Ratio slowly tore his eyes away from the crowd, glancing back to Aventurine before his eyes dropped to the floor in front of him. "..Its admirable."
Aventurine could just barely process what Dr. Ratio was exactly saying— direct praise?? From the good doctor himself???— before Veritas set down his now-empty drink on a bypassing waiters tray.
"Do you ever feel.. second-rate?"
Aventurine paused, taking another languid drink as he contemplated. It wasn't often the dear doctor opened up— he should tread carefully.
"I can't say for sure. Why?" He kept his tone even, trying not to distract from Veritas' thoughts. It was hard enough to get to know him in the first place, to squander his trust like this would be a waste.
The Doctor took a deep breath, practically hiding himself in the shadows of one of the many grand pillars decorating the room.
"I am not adept at conversation."
Aventurine could agree with that. Something about the doctor made it difficult to respond in kind— he was dry, a vague bit brutish, and if Aventurine dared, a little bullheaded. He seemed so sure of himself, founded confidence that was backed up by his many achievements. It was a little intimidating for the average person, he supposed. But as he looked on, that sort of Dr. Ratio seemed to fade ever so slightly, leaving behind someone who was still sure in his knowledge and discoveries— but struggled nonetheless.
"I find people.. grating, sometimes. But connection is one of the few necessities of livelihood, and so I try to converse with my peers as often as possible. It is.. difficult. It often feels as if they have no interest in what I am saying, neither asking questions nor inquiring further, and when I try to do so to show interest in their research, they often retreat back, saying it is not finished or the such. Offering to help only ever seems to drive them further away." Taking out the laurel clip in his hair, Veritas' thumb drifted over the gilded leaves, the polish in the finish reflecting his face back at him. "Despite my best efforts, I rarely ever follow up because I fear I intimidate them. I have seen them recoil at the mere sight of me."
Aventurine could just watch on in surprise— Veritas had never shown an inkling of this before. When he had first gotten to know the doctor, he had assumed Veritas simply didn't work with his peers due to a difference in dedication, or perhaps view. He was among the brightest and best in the Intellegensia Guild, always praised behind his back for being one of their stars.
Perhaps that wasn't the front Veritas had put up at all. Perhaps it was what Veritas was forced to wear in the face of his peers, forced to be seen as the cold unobtainable, the pinnacle of what they should be.
Being on a pedestal like that, it must be lonely.
"Do you not go drinking with your coworkers or something?" Aventurine leaned against the wall, cold of the stone seeping through his suit. Veritas glanced up at him, before looking back down.
"..I was never invited. It is against social convention to come along if you aren't invited, isn't it? I'd rather not strain and worry them more. It could impact them negatively if I were to come along and invite stress to what is supposed to be a time they unwind." He turned the laurel over in his hand. "..perhaps I missed my opportunity."
The light of the pedestal Dr. Ratio sat on seemed to blind all those who looked at it from underneath. They couldn't see his face, only his back— but as Aventurine leaned against the wall, gazing at the doctor in front of him, he got that different perspective.
There was.. resignation, in his eyes.
"Perhaps I am just doomed to be a looming figure above many. And yet, I'll still never be enough." His voice tapered off slightly, head dropping even just that hint bit more. "I am fully aware how much others are compared to me, and I hear them speak of my achievements behind my back. I wish they would stop, if I am being honest. Or at least tell me of my praise directly."
That surprised Aventurine.
"What, do people not give you a compliment or two? For someone so easy on the eyes and as esteemed as you, doctor, I find that hard to believe!" He chuckled— but it quickly faded out as Veritas looked to the side.
"Not often do I get comments directly on my achievements, no. Nor on my appearance, before you came along." He sighed. "You are.. the only person who does so."
The only one who's tried.

Snippet Sunday
In theory, it shouldn't be hard to find a power module that's compatible with Aventurine's systems.
There are hundreds, if not thousands of broken androids scattered across the city, and one of them is bound to have the right parts. Even if Aventurine is an older – or newer, really – model, he can't be the only one of his kind. Statistically speaking, that would be highly unlikely.
Or at least, that's what Veritas keeps telling himself.
In reality, he's never met an android like Aventurine before. In reality, Veritas has never met anyone so utterly human before.
Because how else is he supposed to describe him?
“Where to find another power module,” Veritas mumbles absently.
His eyes flicker around his makeshift workshop. Parts scattered across every available space, two cots set up in the corner – topped with their cloaks instead of a blanket, but that was a luxury he couldn't afford – and scarce, battered walls that would hopefully keep them safe for as long as they stayed here.
No matter what precautions Veritas takes, it will never be safe to leave Aventurine here alone.
Not when he still hasn't woken up. Not when there's still a goddamn hole where his eye should be. Not when his body – his lively, always moving body – is limp in Veritas’ arms, never responding when Veritas tries to fix his circuits, and-
Not when the world still wants Aventurine dead for doing nothing at all.

Imagine Ratio and Ave making out and Ave palms his crotch so Veri pulls back from the kiss. They've never gone further than heated make-outs. But Aventurine just goes "Let me take care of you~" all cocky... to Dr. Ratio, who dedicates his life to taking care of people.
Veritas' forehead hits the wall behind Ave 'lightly' as he groans and starts rolling his hips into the gambler's hand nice and slow. He can't take it anymore with this flirty teasing twink all the time. Pathetic top Ratio, delicious no matter if hes groaning desperately and lost all sanity just railing his mouth and chasing the pleasure's peak or whiny whimpering begging for Ave to hold out a little longer so he can cum in his throat and begging breathless~ Ratio's palm on the back of Ave's head and the other side of his hand pressed to the wall so that with each thrust the gambler hits his hand and not the wall. He doesn't even have to do anything once he's thoroughly frustrated his dear doctor but stay still, keep his tongue (and piercing) pressed up to the underside of his dick, and take it while jacking off because fuuuuck thats a breathtaking view above him.

Pyrellian Rose
"What about this one?"
For probably the sixth time this week, a slender wrist is shoved in front of his nose. Veritas doesn't even flinch anymore at the sudden intrusion into his personal space. He's grown used to it, perhaps. Such a novel thought.
With an affected eyeroll, he sets his book aside and takes a delicate whiff, inhaling the faint, spiced scent that greets him.
"It's subtle," he says aloud, his gaze coming up to meet magenta-ringed cyan watching him eagerly. "But distinctive. I can't quite place it."
"It's dried Pyrellian rose," Aventurine responds helpfully.
"And the rest?"
"Guess."
The doctor gives a theatrical sigh and takes the delicate wrist in his hand, pressing his nose gently to the tender, scarred skin. Red-gold eyes slip shut as he tries to focus past the flutter of a pulse beneath his lips.
"Red tea leaves," he murmurs against the blond's palm. "Clove and saffron. Vanilla undertones."
"You're better at this than I thought, doctor," Aventurine laughs, sounding just a little breathless.
Veritas doesn't respond, inhaling again. "It's warm. Earthy," he says at last, giving in to his desire to press lips against that slender wrist. "I like it."
"Good, because it was a custom order."
"Not from your usual supplier, I hope?" He can't help the reflexive question. Not like the Stoneheart couldn't afford it, but he still shudders to think of the exorbitant cost involved with some of Pier Point's luxury perfumists.
"Nah, I sourced this directly from an artisans' guild on Pyrellia. It's the only way to get this particularly unique scent, because they don't export the flowers used to make it."
Never mind that Pyrellia is a backwater system with a struggling economy. One that would benefit greatly from the exclusive patronage of an IPC executive.
"They have a lot of unique scents like this," Aventurine continues. "I told them I might be able to hook them up with a direct trade line to the Pier Point shopping district if I was happy with the product. If you like it so much, maybe I should put in another order. Get some bath oils while I'm at it, stock up the guest room."
Veritas hums as he pulls the blond down into his lap, wrapping his sturdy arms around the slim waist and letting the warm scent encompass him. Aventurine goes willingly, a soft smile of amusement on his face.
"Whatever you like, mel meum," the doctor rumbles quietly. "But I must say, the tub in your guest room is rather subpar."
"Well," the blond drawls, looping his arms lazily around broad shoulders, "I'm afraid it would be far too inconvenient and costly to have it replaced. I guess you'll just have to use mine instead."
"Incorrigible," Veritas whispers, as a grin splits his stern expression. "Whatever am I to do with you?"
"Let me spoil you," Kakavasha whispers back, pressing their foreheads together. "Please?"

Do you have a sneak peak you can share of the Langdon fic?
omg sure!! Here is a tiny snippet! 😇 I hope the person who requested it will be happy with the final product 🩵 I am going to post the full thing either tonight as soon as I’m finished or tomorrow! Will also be sharing to ao3 when it’s complete.
God, why must this man’s eyes be so blue? You look up at him, your heart starting to race as he steps closer to you and your breath hitches when he places a hand on the wall by your head. “Or…” He starts, a tiny smirk starting to appear across his mouth. “It’s a different type of crazy.”
Your eyes widen at his words and from your reaction Frank lets out a small laugh. He’s messing with you, he has to be. There is zero chance this is happening. Suddenly his face was closer to yours now and you could feel his hot breath, and smell the leftover minty scent from the gum he probably chewed earlier. You felt like you might die right there in the middle of the hallway.
“Frank,” You say quietly.
He smiles. “You don’t hate me at all. I just make you really horny, don’t I?” He teases, leaning down and brushing his lips over yours. “That’s why you’re so quick to run off after a consult.”
-
It’s been like a year since I’ve written anything so I am rusty but I’m trying <3 the nerves of sharing my writing is coming back but here it goes.

IVE STARTED WRITING.
"
I’m Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog.
It’s been a while, huh? The world’s a lot more quiet now than it was 25 years ago.
Eggman’s still kicking around, but he’s more of a joke now than he ever was. Sage is practically running his “Empire” for him at this point, and even with that, they still get beat every time.
Not by me, though. I’ve moved on.
I might’ve stopped fighting the Egghead, but nothing’ll keep me from running like I always have. Adventure’s in my blood.
Besides, there are kids out there now who are just as tough as I was taking the charge.
Gives me more time to explore, meet new people, and share stories from my old adventures.
Everyone else has moved on too.
Amy’s a therapist now, Tails is a Professor of Chaos Research at Spagonia University, Knuckles is… well he’s Knuckles, and from what I’ve heard, Team Chaotix and the Restoration have been doing really well lately. Some of them even have kids of their own.
Come to think of it, it’s been a while since we’ve all gotten together like we used to.
I’m on my way now to Amy’s for a quick visit. There’s something she really wants to tell me about.

LAMENT OF OUROBOROS MASTERLIST
HONKAI STAR RAIL MASTERLIST
MASTERLIST ・゜・NAVIGATION
“A fledgling court, a fledgling government…” A prodding, sardonic finger broke past the mirage of the map and the stars rippled. You could not help but feel this was rather apt. “...dealing with an organisation, possibly several, that have existed… for how long? Decades? Centuries? Surely someone benefited from this from the very beginning, and it can’t have been just this flimsy government.”
He exhaled. Once, twice, while you thought with glazed eyes to the brittle construction of this world. “Just yesterday, you were vehemently protesting any other involvement. A complex political web, far too easy to upset, I believe you said.”
His face, so delicately wrought beneath that mask he typically favoured, twisted—for a fleeting moment you thought back to the sculpture. Though, as quickly as it came, the thought dissipated and you rebuked yourself for the very notion.
“I will admit, the early stages must be done so discreetly that there is not a breath of it elsewhere save this room. There will be no room for error there,” he murmured. “The evidence found will unleash the hounds of the Court of Ouroboros, which will be far more scrupulous than the… fledgling… Heliaia that you so mistrust. It will be a careful balance of treading the line of the law, but once the criminal case is underway, they’ll scatter.”
“And who will round them up?” Carefully, a chalk blur was traced against the richly stained wood of your chair. “Us? You, who suddenly has a degree in international criminal law? The ‘hounds’? Sophos—all due respect—why are you pursuing this in the first place?”
Why are you pursuing this in the first place?
A thousand years. A millennium, for attempting to set free the binds his progenitor had enforced onto the people. That was the price he had paid, yet he achieved nothing. Dozens of lifetimes, gone; and here he was, parsing through every material possible to finish his work. There was no mockery in your tone, but still, he felt his mouth set into a grim line.
Why are you pursuing this in the first place?
Centuries of loneliness. With the absence of everything, anything—death, life. Each fickle sense, transfigured into cold, unyielding stone. His mind—subjected to the droning blather of a false dream.
Why are you pursuing this in the first place?
A frigid smile painted his features.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said, coolly. “On that item, neither should you concern yourself with my motivations. Do pardon the mistrust.” We didn’t meet under the best circumstances. He didn’t say that. Rather, his finger trailed across the enlarged city where the stars formed dense galaxies and constellations, past the streets he trod in his youth, and settled on where the points converged into a singularity. An amorphous, wriggling mass of taverns and smoke-houses stared right back at him.
(The symposium of a young master. A youth weaves amidst the crowd, draped in intricate garb yet just a touch out of place. It’s not noticeable, not unless one has a rather distinguishing eye. Though the scholars sat around the table frequent lectures diurnally—and are considered some of the sharpest minds— when the suns dip beneath the gentle curve of the sea, the curtain falls over their eyes too.
The seventh prince sits, unnoticed.
There’s a peculiar scent on the air—of meat, wine, and the sinister odour of conspiracy and deceit. It cloys. Sticks to the skin so carefully perfumed with incense and oil. Honeyed wine does wonders for loosening lips, and the youth watches, entranced, as secrets flow freely.)
Your hard stare shattered the remnants of the memory, and his eyes refocused on where the ornate building used to be on the map.
“Fine.” Your fingers drummed on the backrest of the chair. “Belated apologies for touching a nerve. You won’t involve a third party yet, and neither will I. Matter resolved.”
His eyes narrowed, and you mentally sent a quick apology to Kakavasha. “What third party would you be involving?”
The drumming ceased, for the time it took a bowstring to be drawn, or a sharp inhale to occur. “My assistant,” you said, smoothly. “A disciple—apprentice, if you will—who has a keen grasp on information.” It was not a lie. Still, you’d rather he rest in the city, and you’d take care of the work of finding your statue and writing your paper, and this.
Ratio mulled the words over, and his red-stained lips formed a pensive line for a brief few seconds. “No third parties. Yet.”
A wry smile stretched your face as you exhaled. “Cool. Do you trust me?”
“No,” he uttered at once, with a smile of his own.
