Lance after running around for weeks on multiple cases and following up with men on different incidents waking up cuddled between the 2 scientists and not knowing how he got there. Burnette spooning him and his head tucked under Kukui’s chin. Bonus when they do wake up Lance ends up holding and feeding the baby while they make breakfast and still confused on how he got there
…. Hear me out. I know this is most likely sent in before the Drake Vs. Lance thing but like-
Lance juggling the fact that he was a poor role model for Ash while having a rivalry against Drake and Kukui, both separate as they don’t know each other and only share Lance as their so called nonexistent ‘connection’, bot both of them somehow falling in love with the double Champion some fucking how. Burnet included but they met on way better terms.
Lance is so preoccupied with everything and constantly has his guard up so he doesn’t notice the subtle flirts with the pettiness from the duo, though he gets into ‘compliment fights’ with Burnet over email or phone on the rare occasion. It doesn’t help that Ash is actively staying on in the Orange Isles at the moment so seeing him learning stuff and being healthy while Drake is bragging really rubs Lance in the wrong way and makes him resent the dude.
Drake doesn’t know this or is to blind to really see how Lance doesn’t like him like how Drake likes Lance. Ash does, he’s seen Brock do it through four different regions so it’s not hard to miss, but doesn’t know how to approach Drake because every time he does he gets told to stay out of their ‘adult’ conversations.
Lance, most likely being the longest standing Champion or for the fact he’s successfully held two positions and be a G-Man for so long, gets invited to Alola by Kukui to help finalize or run through their league to give pointers. Despite their rivalry Kukui can compliment the Champion on how well he’s ran two different regions despite everything. Kids fall through the crack regardless of how hard you try and fill said cracks. He acknowledges Lance’s guilt if not being there for Ash and can see Lance is trying to correct his actions.
Lance takes a walk around the stadium in alola with Kukui. running on nothing but coffee beans, a granola bar, and a fruit roll up before he passes out from the heat and lack of water. Thankfully nothing severe but he wakes up with Kukui and Burnt hovering above him while he’s laying there sprawled out in their couch. Lance probably says something like “damn, I get two angles?” Before passing out again before the two Professors can do anything.
He gets better but his stay in Alola extends due to literally everyone in a higher position than him practically yelling at Lance to take a damn fucking break. Through then the petty remarks turn to more teasing comments then to much more flirty advances.
All the while Ash is getting practically the play by play by the entire class who still has to deal with Kukui’s bullshit almost every day. Drake knows nothing about what’s going on and is confused on why Lance hasn’t responded to his text or emails. Ash tries to tell him but once again he gets shut down by Drake because it’s an ‘Adult’ conversation and he doesn’t need to be apart of it.
This surely doesn’t effect Ash’s relationship down the road with Drake. :)

Books with Pictures: Batman: The Adventures Continue: Season One
Writers: Alan Burnett & Paul Dini
Artist: Ty Templeton
Tumblr media
BTAS is one of my all time favorite things and I was super excited about a comic continuation. But upon reading this first volume, I was frankly underwhelmed.
One of the main attractions for me was the introduction of Jason Todd to the BTAS universe, which I think should have been planned out a little more. It felt too forced to have him shoehorned as the second Robin when the animated series pretty much established Tim Drake as the second Robin with Jason Todd’s partial origin story.
Maybe just rework it with Jason as the third— or better yet, have this story set in the Batman Beyond setting.
Of course I’ll keep reading to see if Jason comes back in a later story.
The volume ends with a Christmas story featuring Batman and Robin featuring Joker and Scar Face (a severely underutilized villain!), which was pretty fun!
Now my own personal gripes: Nightwing is my favorite bat family member and he’s not in this volume at all 😢. Favoritism aside, I still think he should have been featured in the Red Hood and Deathstroke arc. Most especially with the Deathstroke story since he has a fascination with the protégés (plus his actual origins as a Teen Titans villain). To me, just felt like he was missing.
Not perfect, but I’m still going to move forward with the series and see where it goes.
Rating: 2.75/5
