For what it’s worth, to those saying Hilarie Burton Morgan has beef with Joy Lenz over political views, I think it’s worth remembering that none of the Drama Queens are our political heroes. If we ever want to have true societal progress, we have to give people the space to learn and grow from their mistakes. Joy has said on Instagram that she doesn’t only follow the people whose rhetoric she believes in. I think I have followed her for a few years now on Instagram, and I haven’t seen anything right wing. I have seen anti-Trump, anti-human trafficking, and pro indigenous story posts though. If Hilarie can stand by Jeffrey Dean Morgan supporting blue lives matter, and even commenting that he was learning or whatever, then hopefully she can have some grace for her friend who likely needs more information on a social topic too. Hilarie is also pro military, so there’s that.

(in-universe Iorveth is a guerrilla. in this universe i've made him an activist. but there's still a king so i haven't like. idk. well it's not set in the modern day actually. not exactly. does it matter? i did the worldbuilding but y'all don't really need to know.)

This version of Iorveth is, I would argue, very canon-compliantly a huge drama queen and for him, commitment to the bit trumps all else, LOL.

Is that what I’m supposed to believe?” He shoved himself off the rock where he’d been leaning, and stalked toward Vernon, letting himself walk like a predator, menacing and looming. Vernon backed up against the rock ledge, eyes flickering, assessing. Maybe he’d fight. That would be something, at least. Scrappy, wiry little fucker; he’d probably kick Iorveth in the balls. Well, Iorveth had certainly had worse. It’d be worth it, to break the monotony. He leaned in close, and put his hand on the stone, bracketing Vernon, cornering him. “What if I call your bluff, hm? You really think you want to get closer to this horror show?” Iorveth leaned down as if to kiss Vernon, bringing his face closer and closer, waiting for the blow to come-- would Vernon punch him in the stomach or knee him in the groin? Vernon did neither. At this range, he was too close to focus on. He wasn’t struggling or flinching or recoiling, he was just standing there; his lips had parted, he wasn’t trying to get away. That’s how he wanted to play, hm? More commitment to the bit than most could muster. Well, fine then. Iorveth moved his hand from the rock to touch Vernon’s face, cradling his jaw, and then tilted his head and went for it, fastening his mouth onto Vernon’s. Vernon sucked in a breath through his nose and latched on, opening immediately for Iorveth. Oh this was unexpected, but if that’s what he wanted, Iorveth was only too glad to oblige. It was so long since he’d kissed anyone: even if he was about to get stabbed, he was going to enjoy it.

I KNEW this would happen with Father Jun and YJ! At some point, YJ will have to put him out of his misery. Ughh my heart!

Ah Sahm is still cursed in the romance department, huh? Young Jun is out for Yan Mi and the cops are on her trail, too. I hope she won’t die and just leave the city.

Li Yong, the elders are actually being very reasonable here. They’re just asking for better communication and less crazy decisions! He’s such a malewife for Mai Ling. Like I get it, he knows her and her story like nobody else. But come on, dude. You’re gonna regret it. 

So not a Red Wedding…but a Red Honeymoon. Warrior is very good at creating fight scenes that matter. They have stakes, they drive the story and the characters forward. Li Yong killing his best friend to protect Mai Ling was so emotional! He even yelled at Mai Ling to get out! That’s how you know he finally broke. How much more is he willing to sacrifice for her and love? Chao was right, love has consequences. 

Mai Ling is a complicated bad bitch. She’s ruthless and power-hungry. But her feelings for Li Yong and Ah Sahm are real, deep down. At this rate, she’s gonna push away everyone who could be an ally. Can’t wait to see how this will affect her and Li Yong.

The second biggest fight was Bill vs Chief Atwood. I must say, Bill’s been growing on me this season. He was the only one who gave a shit when Atwood was terrorizing the Chinese. The other cops are just mad that he’s punishing their people, too. Still, 5 years in prison for stealing some food is ludicrous. Atwood is an evil menace for everyone, white or Chinese.  I’ve been waiting all season for Bill to beat the shit out of him! Too bad it’s gonna bite him in the ass later.

Wdym there’s only 2 more episodes?? Didn’t season 3 just premiered like yesterday???

Fuck it, my two cents about the ned fullmer situation.

The amount of people who are under every single post about it talking about how Alex (the producer involved in the affair) is just as to blame really irks me.

And not to get deep, but it feels like a result of the heard/depp situation. So many people have fallen for the "women can be guilty of bad things too" and ran with it.

This should go without saying, but this is not me negating that women can be abusive and bad.

I've seen countless people say that Alex is equally responsible and should be fired and deal with the social consequences.

First of all, no matter how "high up in the corporate latter" of the try guys company she is, she's still and employee and Ned is still an owner and founder, the power imbalance is there.

Second of all, and something I've always struggled with personally but have matured and learned enough to put into words, the "other woman" cannot be more responsible than the individual who cheated.

I don't care if she flirted with that married man every day, he is still responsible for betraying the trust of his wife.

"but she was engaged, she's just as guilty".

Okay, but did anyone even know that before this drama? Does anyone genuinely care about her fiance?

No, people are happy that they have a woman they can say awful things about without being shamed for it.

That's what all of what I'm trying to say bottles down to.

When everyone is going after an individual who did something wrong, the first place so many go to is what they, even subconsciously, don't like about that person. Women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, disabled people, any type of minority; if you fuck up, the way people speak about you shows their true feelings.

Even on smaller things, to use a current event the dream face reveal thing.

I personally have never engaged with that side of the internet, but apparently he's problematic.

Either way, no one made that much of a stink about it until they got a face to go with the person, and because the majority of people have decided he's ugly, it's fair game to make fun of someone for something that's typically frowned upon, "but he's a bad person, so it's okay."

There's so many more examples of this that I genuinely struggle with, such as ageism against shitty politicians and people of power.

Why can't we critique the queen, or trump for what they've done? Why must me mock the elderly for how they walk and look?

It's so cliche, but genuinely, how do people not think that the people in their life, who they would never make fun of, are gonna see their sexist, racist, ageist comment and not feel bad by proxy?

Lol it's simply something I've observed over the years. There are examples I can name off the top of my head, such as him excusing Freddie being outright rude to fans with "oh but he had to rest his throat, you see <3 that's why he told them to fuck off <3 Freddie threw away a whole box of gifts from Japanese fans because he doesn't like clutter in his life <3" (side note: compare that action to the current drama lmao). Honestly, that is so, so simpy, it's hilarious. I don't have the links to the interviews where he's said this handy (I'm pretty sure he's talked about it more than once), but let's be real: Freddie was rude a lot! But Brian swoops in like "b-b-but he was actually focused on recording!!!"

I can't find it right now, but there was a time back in Brian's twitter days when he publicly snapped at someone for insulting Anita's singing, and then apologized (I think he initially called the person a "bitchy little worm" lol). Anita was on this competition show in 2011, Strictly Come Dancing, and she was actually worried that Brian would get big mad and intervene if the judges got too harsh on her:

Now, vehemently defending his wife and Freddie are to be expected, and unsurprisingly, this extends to Queen. Brian is very defensive of the band and their work, and anything closely associated with it; that's why I think he's defended the film so much, because the project meant a lot to him and he thought it was a net good for Queen and Freddie, so he wasn't interested in accepting much criticism of the film and defended it publicly on more than one occasion.

He's shown this behavior towards other people he likes yet doesn't know as well, especially colleagues in the industry or, more recently, scientific colleagues like Walt Cunningham, who just died and got a nice little tribute post by Brian despite being a jackass climate change denier (and Brian very obviously feels strongly about climate change, so for him to like the man despite his flat-out wrong view on something Brian cares about a lot says something). Back in the movie days, Brian even got into hot water by still following Bryan Singer on instagram and snapping at someone who commented on his profile and told him to unfollow--again, I think this is because Singer was associated with a project that meant a lot to Brian, but to his credit, he actually issued a lengthy public apology that seemed genuine to me, who at the time, was not a fan of Brian lol. This goes to show how this trait is a double-edged sword, because it's sweet when he defends Freddie and Anita, but it's bad when he defends people who shouldn't be defended (although, I do believe him when he says he didn't realize following Singer on social media would be seen as supporting him. People do need to remember we're talking about a senior citizen here).

And so, I think Brian's defensive nature leads him to assume the best of people because he really doesn't want to think people he likes have done wrong or are bad. It's also a mindset he seems to have about people in general; after the 2020 US election, he made a video talking about how shocked he was that so many people still voted for Trump. Brian more or less came to the conclusion that Trump voters must be seeing something different, their news sources must be wrong and leading them astray, and we should create some kind of independent truth council. I could not believe how naïve he was with this post. Like...obviously, even if you could create a totally unbiased source of truth, morons and political conspiracy theorists just wouldn't believe it! Lol. And in general, I think Brian has a difficult time believing that there could really be a large amount of bad people in the world (I think this influenced his political campaign to appeal to people's supposed "common decency" too), but it's like...as someone who has lived in America her whole life and is extremely political invested, I can confidently say that no, Trump voters really are just awful fucking people. They're not led astray, they willingly walk off the cliff because the GOP tells them what they want to hear about women and minorities. I swear, I'm not going on a tangent lol. The point is, Brian wouldn't accept my conclusion here. I think it's genuinely hard for him to accept that there are a lot of people who are simply bad actors in this world, and that's about people in general--apply that to people he actually likes? Yeah. No. You'd have to tell Brian someone committed murder and show him the body before he'd accept that they're bad.

This is also why I think it's incredibly telling that Brian has held ill feelings towards Paul and Barbara for the rest of his life, because he's not a spiteful, angry person who writes people off easily, he actually defends people too much a lot of times, but that's getting off topic lol.

About RPF and fandom is selective

Might get cancelled over this but i no longer give a fuck, the subject of debate over RPF celebrity fanfic made me realize that an overwhelming amount of discourse war this or that on fandom doesn't fucking matter and just something blown out of proportion because people like outrage/drama or riding high horse. I think i have seen a lot of people saying that all kind of RPF is disgusting and bad blah blah but NOBODY bat an eye when Hollywood is making BUTT LOADS of money from RPF all the freaking time!! Hell a lot of people even latch into RPF fandom like The Great or OFMD. Bridgeton itself can be considered as an RPF with the Queen Charlotte plot and now new spin-off show.

Also when someone say "Well those RPF are about dead people." You know that SNL parody about public figure and political satire comic is RPF too right? The Simpsons have RPF episodes about living people, hell freaking minions have Lizbeth II added to the movie when she's alive.

Yet NOBODY were having an outrage about it.

And it's just weird to write RPF fanfic about nonpublic figure. But for RPF about celeb who are adults, people doesn't actually really know those celebs and mostly just using the name and public persona. There's an F in RPF fanfic for a reason. Also celeb fanfic on AO3 or whatever are not for mainstream consumption. It's niche, on the internet and tagged.

Also one of the holy rule of writing celeb RPF is TO NOT show the fanfic to the person like ever. Which means the public figure won't ever see them unless they deliberately went into the rabbit hole

INFODUMP TIME: SINF EDITION

SO. This is a series of 6 books that I affectionately call the Modern Fantasy Mythological and Historical Real Person Fiction series. And it's accurate. Very accurate.

I'm emo about it every day and I once scared kya by reblogging something from his nlog onto my sinf sideblog and he didn't know it was me. It's such a batshit crazy book I read a lot of batshit books, okay.

But one of the things about it is that people use magic by using their auras, something many folks irl have heard about. Auras and vibes and energies and such. In SINF you have a finite amount of aura you can use before doing magic consumes your physical body instead. Depleting your aura is BAD. You need to rest if you do, or if you get severely injured because your aura automatically tries to heal you regardless of if there's any aura to heal you with.

Auras come in a few different forms and MILLIONS of colors. They also have unique smells, and although you can technically change it, you have an original scent that is yours exclusively. (The bad guys in the series are extra as FUCK and make their auras smell like rotten meat and stuff. Drama queens.)

There are 3 auras that are the most powerful, but one type of aura trumps them all. Those three are Gold, Silver, and Black. Gold and silver are rare as fuck, and the twin teenaged Main Characters of the series have those colors naturally, and in the purest form. But we never quite hear about anyone who has a black aura, and the one time I recall it mentioned (it's been a while since I read them) it's just....implied. And then we NEVER hear about black auras again, despite apparently being a huge cog in the wheel that makes up the magic of this world.

HOWEVER. You know me. You know that if I have wiggle room, then I will ponder. And I don't just have wiggle room with the concept of black auras-- i have a fucking warehouse.

And so, middle school Marcel began to think-thonk. And I've been think-thonking for a decade now.

The legendary twin auras of pure gold and silver are representative of the Sun and the Moon in SINF. They literally ARE those things. Others can have (and have had) pure gold or silver, but they weren't as powerful because they were twins. They weren't the Sun and Moon. So it stands to reason that a black aura would have some celestial symbol as well, yeah?? But what? Now originally I assumed it might be an eclipse. But the black aura is an independent concept, unlike the Sun and Moon auras which depend on each other to keep balance across the multiverse (yes there's a multiverse in SINF. Don't worry about it.) So now what?? What is something in astronomy that is associated with darkness and doesn't necessarily have something else to balance it?

That's right. A black hole.

How would that work, you may ask? How does an aura, which already consumes itself and then its bearer even when it's normal, somehow function efficiently when it mimics a fucking BLACK HOLE. Well boy do I have the answer for you 🫵🏼

It lays dormant, but when ignited, can only take energy from auras around it. This bitch will consume SOMEBODY ELSE in order to power itself. And it's hungry.

What does a black aura look like?? Uh well. I actually headcanon that it's colorless. Invisible, even, except for a faint disruption around its bearer, much like how stuff bends around an actual black hole. Auras can only be used when someone is Awakened, but black auras can Awaken someone nearby who previously was not, just to start sucking up their aura juice for magical purposes.

Really eldritch of me, I think. I definitely have an OC with a black aura and she's everything to me.

I love how middle-schoolcel took the most edgelord of books and made the most edgelord of OCs out of it. Fantastic. Glorious. Sometimes you just need to satiate the inner teenager.

The idea of auras being the source of power is actually really interesting, to be honest. But having the main characters be extra special gold and silver aura teenagers and the bad guys smell like rotten meat and there's an extra-special black aura we never hear about is also hilarious.

Mechtober Day 28 - Family

The planet was a write-off, really. Someone had said there was lots of stuff on it to burn, and clearly everyone else had got the memo much earlier, because all that remained were the burned skeletons of buildings that could have been impressive, once. Branches broke through shattered windows and ivy crawled up the metal shards, reaching for the light of the twin suns setting on the horizon.

They still had a fire though. A small one, to Ashes' disappointment, but even so - staring into the campfire is a good way to pass the time as the sky reddens and turns black.

Jonny starts humming, a little song the crew heard in a bar once on Perdition. When Tim pulls out his guitar and plays along, he breaks out into proper singing, and even though Nastya lobs a charred stick at his head she still joins in the chorus with the rest of them.

Jonny always was a drama queen, especially when putting on accents.

Of course, Smooth Mickey never sounded anything like that, and Ashes is fairly sure no-one anywhere uses that accent, but he's really going for it.

There's another campfire - it's becoming a bit of a thing - and they poke it with a stick. How many years separate them from Malone? How many mile? 

Yet the fire makes the same shapes as it did when they lit that first match. It sounds the same too, and if they look past the blue foliage around them and close their eyes they could be back there once again.

And when Ashes opens their eyes again and joins in with their part they don't think about their old life, because this one - with the campfire and the people that they didn't choose to join but wouldn't choose to leave - this one they made themself.

Red skies and black skies and a green sky with three suns that has never seen night. Full moons, twin moons, moons that Tim wants to explode and moons that Ivy scoffs at, insisting they're only trumped up asteroids. Stars, always stars, though the constellations bear names as varied as the civilisations that bestowed them.

Beneath all of it is a campfire and nine people, usually, although they travel separate as much as they all go together. And the singing, songs they create and ones they picked up from any of the uncounted worlds they've walked and sang upon.

A different set of stars, a different campfire, but a familiar scene. 

The others have long ago gone to sleep, leaving Brian alone with his banjo. He strums out the first few bars of a song he knows well. After all, it's about his life.

His hands find the chords easily, like they're coming home. And they are, in a way.

Because home can be a place, yes. But home is also the story of your life you choose to tell yourself, and home is the people you care for but won't admit you care for - not to their faces, anyway - and home is the marshmallow fight that's the reason marshmallows are now banned on your ship.

And home is a campfire beneath the stars and the music that echoes in the air.

Dad is the issue, that’s mentioned all over this reading. Not only are you fire, your parents both come up as fiery 🔥 people too, and there’s a lot of drama between them because of Dad…probably cheating, and running off with some new love, that’s mentioned twice with Ace of Cups. You do not have a positive view of him at ALL, you find that he’s abused his power as a father and husband, could be someone dominating, controlling…actual abuse is possible, which is further clarified by emotional manipulation and immature behavior from a grown ass individual. He is pretty much the reason for everything wrong, that’s been agreed upon by everyone. You could get quite heated over the topic of him. Hopefully not at me, I hear ya, and I’m sorry about all of this 🙏

I get one, they are very happy with what they do for work, but whatever that work is doesn’t pay enough, so it’s like they either live at home or are constantly borrowing money. Their passions don’t fund their bills, but they’re not irresponsible either. I heard “teacher”, that could be what they do, or is relatable in comparison salary wise and not making what they deserve! They’re actually very responsible and can handle just about anything thrown at them, but they’re not super independent and I get it’s because they can’t be. Not if they want to be who they want to be, at least for now, they need help. This could also show them as being a single parent and maybe Mom helps them with free babysitting and stuff like that. They could be significantly older/younger than you, enough that there’s a bit of emotional distance and not relating too easily, different generations even.
